Hey, this is Richard Ditch, the host of the Sports Media Podcast. If you're interested in what's happening with all the places where you consume sports, the Sports Media Podcast has you covered. I've been turning down interviews all week. A coat of coffee, reached out. Oprah, George Stephanopoulos. So I said no. I was booked on the Ditch Podcast before the Taylor Swift phenomenon. I must live up to my responsibility. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. You don't want to think about this, but you know the reality of it. You know the reality of trading six for Jay, no, no, no, no, no, which real quick, John came flying in here. He barges in here like Kramer and Seinfeld and he goes, Hey, Carson Wentz just got traded. Did he get traded or resigned with the vice? Okay, he goes, Jay, Jay McCarthy, I'm going, I'm not doing it right now. Not, not interested. Nope. They made the mistake. They can lay in that mistake.
I remember when they were like, you really in the first round, even Keith, big Michigan guys like, I don't know. And people are like, Oh, you should see how he throws people open on third down. It's my problem is every time he seems to struggle, oh, he's on the injured list. It's like, well, are we going to, we going to own up to our problems here? Do we really have injuries? Like, which one is it? Maybe it's all bad luck. I'm not sure. But Robert Mays from the athletic, he was on the midday show yesterday on basket and films, longest running show here. And he was talking about Todd Munkin, not what you guys are going to hear at EA or like it. I don't like it either. But we have to accept the reality of the situation. Robert Mays, go. I think Todd is a really good offensive football coach. I think he's been a really good offensive football coach for a long time. I think there are two different ways that this could potentially go, as I think about the archetype of coach that Todd is and how this season might play out. The best case scenario, and I've made this comparison since he got hired, like I think if you're a Brown fan, the best way that this can work out is that this is like Bruce
Arian's 2.0, where you have a guy that is a long time assistant, waited for his chance and surprises to people in terms of how good of a head coach he ends up being in his 60s. The downside of this, and I think the worst case scenario is, is this one of those kind of interstitial hires for a bad team where you're hiring Todd Munkin as a step to hiring your head coach that's going to be here, as you really kind of pull yourself out of the muck. I don't know which one of it, I don't know which one of those it is. If you told me that this was a one year thing and they're looking for a head coach again next year, just based on the current state of the roster, the level of quarterback play they're going to get, that wouldn't surprise me at all. But I have enough respect for Todd Munkin where I absolutely can see the other path working out, where the offense is a little bit better than we expected. You're maximizing the players on that side of the ball, and you can talk yourself into the idea of, okay, when we get a quarterback in here, we do think this is the right guy to oversee that process. I think every radio show host in this city, or at least on this station, I think a lot
of, I would, I would be willing to imagine, you can never say 100%. I'd be willing to imagine 98 plus percent of Brown's fans would agree. It would be very silly to go through all this rigging moral, Darryl is in for tone today, by the way, to go through all this stuff that's been going on here where you took a month to find a head coach, which find that might be normal, but we were going through all of it with all these young guys. We ended up picking a six year old head coach. You ended up picking a head coach to just having for one year to have some of the same big pieces that you have, not get rid of the general manager, mind you, and just have a guy for one season. It would be all time silly and maybe dumb, stupid, to only do it for one year. And I don't believe Darryl that the Browns have any intention to just keep it in for one year. I don't believe that. I think that, I think this is at least a two year deal. I know you guys call me a water boy, well, yes, yes, but I know a lot of people call me a water boy fine.
Ever since that Rob Chitzinski deal went down, they, if they like to over correct mistakes, the Browns ownership, this is true. They held on to Kevin for a longer period of time. They gave you more time than what any of us wanted to give him. They, but they hit the jack button quickly on Freddie Kitchens. They hit the jack, Freddie and quickly, Freddie was warranted, it's caught what it is. Yeah, I agree. I'm just saying, though, like, yeah, they, they, they, they tend to find themselves caught between, you're running on quickly or taking too long to move on, but I know that they've been pretty sensitive to that type of things since Chut, especially because, you know, like goofball tried to sell them on Jim Harbour or whatever, which, whatever. So I think that they do not have any intention to do it, but we also know what the NFL is. And this isn't just the Browns guys. This is what the NFL is because a 60 year old coordinator, Vic Fangio was a 60 year
old coordinator. I thought Vic Fangio got railroaded and he did and he was in and out very quickly in Denver. Right. A worse case scenario would be David Cully, who was a 64 year old, I don't, I don't know if he was ever a coordinator. They made him a head coach and, you know, they tried to say the nice things about him, but it was basically, you're here as a placeholder until we can get our, our affairs and order about all this stuff and move on. Right. And then look at, look at some of the young guys that they talked to. They were the young up and comers that just aren't ready for that job just yet, but don't forget those names because you're going to hear them again. Like I don't want to, I'm not going to, I'm not going to sell it as I got, he's going to be here for the next 10 years, but I'm not going to sit here and, and, and really give firm discussion to the possibilities that it could be let go. But if we don't think that this team's going to be very great, if we think it's going to be a five to six win team, Daryl's willing to say eight, I'm just getting a positive one on this show.
If he wins eight games, he's staying like that's fine, but if they win five or six games, the offense is still terrible. Like if you haven't shown any, if you haven't shown any progress and I, I'm going to bring the other thing in depending on what you want to do at the quarterback position. That's a very powerful family. And I think a lot of people drew the same conclusions about the five year rule change of the draft picks or what the Browns wanted to. I think that's one piece of it, which is the biggest piece. It's a very powerful family. They may be, they may very well decide. I mean, hell, John El, the whole reason John Elway stayed out is because he didn't want to play for Frank Kush. And they may very well decide, you know what, we don't, or they may very well like him. So there's burning work his way to the Browns. Yes, there's plenty of scenarios here where I think it'd be ridiculous, but yeah, we got to go and we got to talk about what could possibly happen if it were to happen later on in the year.
But I think it is a possibility at some point because we all watch the NFL. We all know how the league works, man. You all know it. Todd Munkin's not going to be the head coach when they open the stadium in Brook Park. I'm convinced of that. I don't see him being here really, I don't, I don't see Todd Munkin being the head coach when they open that. I was calling you Mr. Positive. All of a sudden, I don't know if that's Mr. Positive. It's three years from now, Darryl, twenty twenty nine, right? Four seasons. Four seasons. Four seasons. Four seasons from now. They open it in the twenty nine season. Yeah, correct. Twenty six, twenty seven, twenty eight, and then the twenty nine. Well, yeah, but there's three seasons till season four, so it's three years. Three seasons. They'll get three seasons. So he wouldn't be going into his fourth season. Right. I don't think he gets to his fourth season. Why not? I just, I, I, I just think that his job right now is to put this thing back together. If he does win, then yes, but I, I, I'm not convinced that they're going to win at the
level that will prompt them to stay the course. They thought they should have won seven or eight games this past year while scoring less than 17 points a game. Think about that for a second. They couldn't score 17 points per game, and they thought that they were a seven or eight win team. Only one five. But I know, but they should have beat Tennessee and they should have beat the Jets. Right. You lost the two winless teams at the time, right? You like Carson, Carson Wentz walk you down the field in London, okay, in the, in the final couple minutes of that game and, and blew that one. So now I disagree with their premise. I think there are five, there are five win team and they're, they're miles away. But they feel hey should, should a one seven eight games last season. So I kind of feel like that is the bar for Todd Munk in this year. Go win those games this year that Kevin couldn't last year. That's the step forward. And then what's the next step after that?
And then the next step after that would be next year, okay, get beyond seven eight games. You got to win mine maybe 10. Like you said, you got, you got to show some linear progress here. I think the goal this year is to win the games you didn't win last year. And then the goal next year becomes now get beyond that, take that leap forward. And do you think that they can do that in that year in 2027? I, I don't think so only because I would make him a two year head coach. Right. And that's why I said, I think he's, I think this is a two year, a two year plan. You see where you're at after the two years. If you're going in the direction where you feel good about things, he gets a third year. If not, then some of those names that we heard over those 24 day period when they were doing their great head coaching, Odyssey, then you're going to hear those names come up again. Odyssey app for you. Odyssey app. Do you agree with him? Do you agree with this? I, I don't know. I think I, I think I, I think I, I think I, I think I, I think he makes sense, I'm
afraid to say it, but I don't know that I can 100% agree with it. I do think Darryl's on to something. I think Darryl is on going to call him an idiot for that. Well, no, no, it's a, it's a fair enough opinion. Well, that's what I'm thinking. I'm like, man, because it, it seems to be, they did not, they thought it out, Darryl. They did not set up the hiring, they put thought into it and have a one year thing and just fly by the sea of their pants. I don't think that they did that. And I think he will be more organized and he will get at least two years. I think you're right about that, Darryl. The question is does he get the third or the fourth? I think also it has a lot to do with where does Andrew Berry fit into all this as well. I think Berry say for at least two years, he had, he had, he had, he had such a good draft last year. Nobody wants to hear you say that, you know that, but he did, but those are the facts. Now, he had awful drafts the previous four years and that was my argument. Like, okay, great. You had one good year.
What about the previous three to four to let you here? I just, I want to spend it a second though. If Berry makes it to the new stadium, just Todd, make it, does that help Todd more? No, because I don't feel like that Andrew Berry and Todd Munketer joined at the hip the way they told us the Kevin Stofansky and Andrew Berry. Well, that might be a good deal. Does that make sense? I think, I think we saw that last, the day that they traded Joe Flacco, we all found out that hip was not as, you can join to the issue. I'm saying for four, for four or five years, that's all we heard about, which how Kevin and Andrew were doing a little more truthful now with, with Todd Munketer's head coach. I think you're right about that. Which could be good for Todd, but it also could be bad for Todd. I'm so used to being agreeable this morning that I believe in Brown's fans. I honestly, I got into a motor I was so used to being mad and disagreeable with everything the people were saying that I'm like, no, Kenny, what Darryl Sain is making a lot of sense there. It's like, yeah, you get back on track this year and then you go in the next year and if you can't get back on track or you can't get further next year, but the issue is what you just brought
up with Andrew Berry. See, I don't mean to be a, I don't want to be a liar. I don't want to be duplicitous here. Second time I've used that word today and I ain't going to do it again. I don't want to be conniving, but when you tell a Brown's fan that his job has to be safe for two more years, I grew the, I said the same thing. I also know that I don't know if I trust him to make that pick for that quarterback if things go haywire here with our quarterback situation right now. I don't know if I trust him to make the pick for the one tackle or the top wide receiver. As of right now, I don't trust him. I can only tell the truth. I don't trust them to make that choice. So if I don't trust him to make that choice, I still in this is so greasy. I hate to do it like this. Hey guys, this is Matt Norlander. Co-host of the Ion College Basketball Podcast with Gary Parrish. We are part of the CBS Sports Podcast Network and College Hoops is turning toward what's going to be a phenomenal march. So be sure you are tuned into the show. We're going to be publishing at least four shows every week. Follow and listen to Ion College Basketball free on the Odyssey app.
Or wherever you get your podcast, March is coming. I have to make him believe that everything is going to be fine for the next two years because I don't want him coming to me with hair-brained idea. Eventually, you got to be the owner and when fans say they just want their owner to get out of it, it's just because the team's losing. Right. Okay. But when the team's losing, who do you want to take over to make the decisions to fire the coach, to fire the general manager and to start trading this thing over? And direct the service check. Exactly. And because, and we all, this is firmly believed about the trade and everything, about who put them up to it. And then they went and they guaranteed it. But who put them up to it? People want Andrew Berry to pay for that. But you got to step into let him go. But you also have to know that who do you trust to make that decision? Bronx fans don't trust him to make that decision. But I can't have him coming up to me with hair-brained schemes to try to save this thing to dig out of the problem that they have, which I keep preaching about. You being like trading five years worth of draft picks?
Oh, sorry. Too soon. But that isn't a dig out of the hair-brained, or just a hair-brained scheme, because I'm going to bring in a guy and he's going to have no first-round draft picks or no draft picks over the next time in a year. We're just going to, well, is his career going to be five years? Is it going to get to the end of that? But the time we can't make picks. Two, one, six, four, seven, four to below 92. I got people who want to get in on this. We will get to you. And a former Cleveland Brown, a fan favorite. You guys love this guy when he was here. He was very critical at Kevin Stofansky in a podcast yesterday. And you guys know what I think of Kevin? I don't want to agree with what Jarvis Landry had to say. I have to. I'll tell you why in five minutes on the fan. All right, I'm going to tell you the former Cleveland Brown is, why he already did before the break. What Jarvis Landry said about Kevin Stofansky to podcast,
and I wish you could disagree with Jarvis Landry. I hate to bring up old stuff, but I have to agree with him on this. However, we do have some breaking news here. Cade Cunningham. This is Cade Cunningham, correct? This is according to Shams. Okay, Shamsharanya. Cade Cunningham has been diagnosed with a collapsed lung and is expected to miss an extended period of time. Sources tell ESPN. That is, that's devastating for Detroit. Yeah. Obviously, you know, you hope these going to be okay. Should be okay. Shoot us, priest. How did it happen? Did it happen like last night? It was not. It happened in a collapsed. I don't know. I don't know if this is a situation like this. It's funny, Owen. Tarrad Taylor. I mean, that's just a nervous career. Got started. Yeah, TJ, what ever? Yeah. So you got to wonder like, okay, how did it happen? I didn't see anything.
Did I miss something this morning about anything that might have happened last night? Anything like that? Did he suffer? It didn't play last night, I thought. They didn't play, right? They played Tuesday night. They played, okay. They beat what? They beat Washington. So what happened? Was this a therapy situation that ended up getting out of hand? Well, we'll find out more details. I'm looking right now. It's I'm seeing videos of a back problem. He fell to the floor. He got landed on. Oh, Judas Priest. And he was having back spasms. Maybe it happened during that. Maybe it, yeah. There was a dive for the ball on the ground. Well, you know, I'm glad that they were able to diagnose it. Sucks for them. Sucks for their fans. I don't really have a big, I say this now and then I know I'm going to root. But I don't have a real big thing against Detroit fans. That sucks. I was expecting to take them on. Frankl, I was expecting to take them on in the postseason.
Then have a, have a good matchup and then get to the Eastern Conference. Like this does have ramifications. If I look without Kate Cunningham, they are the pistons are the number one seed without Kate Cunningham. How many games do they have left? They probably have three and a half. They're up three and a half on the Celtics right now. Looks like I'm good. They're not quick math. 59, 68. Well, okay. There's three weeks left in the season. They got 14 left. Yeah, they got 14 left. Yeah, it's half 14 left as well. Is there three left in the scene? No, I thought we had 13 left. 13. There's three. Yeah, it's 13. Is there three weeks left or a month left in the season? This map, I swear to you, this matters. The Cavs last, and I only know this because I put it in my calendar. The Cavs last home game. Help me. Regular season home game is April 12th. Okay. If you're worried about Cavs opponents and the line in which to get to the Eastern Conference Finals
slash NBA Finals, right? You definitely want Detroit to be in that over Boston right now. Well, is there enough time for Boston to catch them, flip that, and then in turn, the Cavs are a game and a half behind the nicks, I believe. For third, now do the Cavs have to make a run or two and a half back. There's about three and a half weeks left in the season. Do they have enough time to make that run now and make that flip? Does it change the way that you do your rotations and things like that going down the stretch here, especially with a bunch of banged up Cleveland Cavaliers? How can we make, I think we're seeing how important Jared Allen really is to this basketball team right now without him on the floor. And James Hardin, like I think he was an underrated player before, because he's always been like, hey, you got these three great players here. If you're going to move on from anybody, you're going to move on from Jared Allen. And there have been so many basketball people like man, he outperforms his contract.
You guys got to be careful talking like this. I know he's frustrating to you guys because he told you the truth about the bright lights and stuff like that. But it's much harder to move on from that guy than you think. And then you got James Hardin. And for the glimpses of what we got to see before the injury, he made Jared Allen that much more important. James Hardin did it. And without Jared Allen on the floor, I'd love to take a run and get myself positioned a little bit better. How am I supposed to do that without Jared Allen? We're on the road tonight against Chicago. He angle, but he's not on the road trip at all. So he's not going to be on tonight. He's not going to be playing against Chicago tonight. Yeah, there's no, and there's no real time table for him to come back. We have no idea when he's going to back. All we know is that he's he's out tonight and then they they are re-evaluating. So it'll be game eight that he's missed in a row. What? I know that he's not the whole road trip. Yeah, he's out, yeah, he's out for the entire road trip. Okay, yeah. So yeah, I don't know. And then and and it could be 10, 12, what are there? They're just saying that the re-evaluation is then. They're not saying that he's back after this.
Correct. Okay, that's not fun. I can already see the nasty conversations being had. So yeah, I if you thought that this was going to open things up, like you don't want to root for injury or anything like that, but it's like, okay, he'll you should be okay. All right, he'll be back. They'll have their day, Detroit will have their day. This is part of the what you go through as a as a franchise. It's trying to grow. But I think it just makes our situation actually tougher because if with Cade Cunningham, I know that they've kind of struggled here over the last month and a half and Detroit fans are kind of down about him. But without they're 49 and 19 for crying out a lot. This is a really strong basketball team, but I didn't think that they were going to do great things in the post season because of their youth. And I thought that the calves were a terrible matchup for him because of what we saw earlier in the season. So my whole goal of it was, all right, we play which Orlando's actually fallen. They lost the other day. So Orlando's actually fallen to the sixth seed. So you're playing Toronto right now.
If the playoff started today, my whole goal was to win a four or five seed matchup, then play Detroit, then play Boston. But if you're going to play Boston in round two because you're stuck at the fourth seed, you got to get past the first round first. I know I'm being awfully presumptuous, but I'd like to hold them to a standard. If you get past, when you get past the first round, you're playing Boston around two. You lose to Boston around two. We're having the same conversation we've been having the last two. You know, as a being right. Nick ends up being right. I told you, I told you, lime has been as mad as mad can be. This calves conversation brought to you by the fine folks at Surfside Hard Ice to you. Ask you to please enjoy that Surfside Hard Ice tea responsibly. I mean, lime has been matter in a dog pooping tax. And buddy, I don't know how we're going to do against Boston right now. Nick might end up being right, which means that the great silent majority,
great silent majority might end up being right, because there's a lot of people. I think there's more than you think who sit there and go, Kenny, all you do, you're soft. All you do is make excuses for this tea. I get called that all the time. All right, so Kate cutting him up with the collapse lung. There will be more news on that. As time goes on, he'll be reevaluated over time, expected to miss a lengthy amount. So I wanted to get to this earlier, but with the breaking news, I had to get to that. Jarvis Landry's a fan favorite. Anytime I talk to Jarvis Landry, who is in Cleveland, great guy, did it, did it, did it, did it. All the other things you got to say. Big reason they got out of the ditch of one in 31, four and 44. And I have got along, lime and I have got along with Kevin Stofansky very well while he was in Cleveland for six years. And even now that he goes to Atlanta, I like Kevin, I wish him well. I think I have to agree with Jarvis Landry and Leonard Fornet when they say this on their podcast. I have a problem with coaches like that.
His resume is not good to me at all. It's just being real. Yeah. And he gets another shot at coaching, where you know, it was guys like me and you who have great ass resumes, right? And didn't get another shot or not playing at all. So when I see like that, man, that has me hot. Yeah. So he definitely want to one of those coaches, I will not ever want to play for him. Ever, ever. You know what? I would say like being in Cleveland and playing there, you know, he was cool to be around. It just it just almost felt like as much as he knew what he was doing, right? He really maybe didn't, right? And I think that like sometimes most of these coaches get put in a position too soon, right? You know, they have success as a position coach, right? And then they get thrown into this head coach in a role where you expect most of these coaches that's younger to be more personable, right? More relatable with their players. In most cases, it just doesn't work out that way, right?
And I know like my time in Cleveland, especially in the beginning, man, it was great. He didn't know when to coach the year, you know, when they're going to the playoffs. And then for some reason, then after, bro, it just kind of felt like the connection between the players and the coaches just kind of started to dim out, right? I don't know if he'd be a great coach in the league, but I do think he knows a lot about offense, right? I don't know how much he is involved into the analytics. Hey, guys, fly on the walls back for another season. That's right. On audio and video every Monday and Thursday. Follow and listen to fly on the wall. Everywhere you get your podcasts. Glitter goes out of things, but I'm doing Cleveland. That was a huge part. So, you know, I think that played pardon some of the decisions that he might have been forced to make, even with the Shedora Sanders thing, right? Either forced to make or persuaded to make, you know what I mean? But we'll see, right? Last year in Cleveland, you know, he's a coach of the year. I think he's two-time coach of the year if I'm not mistaken. So, you know, Atlanta will be another good indicator about, you know, where his coaching career is headed,
because that team, as well as a team that's struggling, need to find somebody to feel that head coach in position and I quarterback position too. That's driver's landry on the fourth and Leonard Fornet, by the way, on the fourth and south podcast. I want to disagree, but the first thing I thought of when I heard that audio yesterday was the interview we did yesterday in Quincy Williams talking about Mike Routenberg. When I first met him, he asked me what I wanted. It's kind of crazy. Most of you here at Coach, he tell you what team won for you and I pay you through the coming year. But when I first met Rudy, he asked me what I wanted out of this game. What did I want from the team? And I told him I wanted to be our pro. That was basically me trusting him, because he said it and I got the all pro tonight. So, then when he called me and said the same thing, like, yo, do you trust me? You want to go all pro again? And I said, yeah, so it was just a trust, so I carried to the brows and we're here. We're looking at it at a changing of the guard. And Mike Routenberg, I think, is actually older than Kevin Stafansky.
But you're seeing a difference in the type of people that these guys trust. It's easy to go back to the Miles Garrett role in his eyes in the background after the wind type of thing. You remember that, Darryl? I never liked you guys before, right? But my first reaction when they say things, when people say something nasty about a person I like personally, is to get mad and get defensive. But what did Leonard Fournet say that was wrong? That I have been saying about Cliff Kingsbury for years. Or about how many, about Hugh Jackson, about how many other coaches for years? What did he say that I haven't said about it? So am I going to be a hypocrite just because I like Kevin? I can't. Leonard Fournet, he says, why does he get to stay in the league and I don't? Now, part of that is that you have to adjust to no longer being an NFL football player, no longer being able to keep up. But Jarvis Landry, we were surprised that there was such a fall off where no, you can't be used anymore. Right. Well, maybe he can contribute something.
We don't know what's going on in New Orleans. We don't know how that was all going to work out. So maybe he could still contribute something. Maybe, maybe they were at their end. But when they look and they see it, it's more of a partnership now than it's ever been. And I think that that's one of the, that's definitely one of the big hurdles that Kevin's going to have to cross. Because he did keep a lot of players arm length, arms length. And when you hear about a guy like Mike Routenberg, who yes is an assistant, he's not a head coach. There's a difference there. You can be more personable as a head guy as an assistant. I understand. But you see these guys, it's more of a partnership. Jim Schwartz was that way. That's why the, the defensive players loved him so much. Yes, we're behind him to get the job. And so disappointed that he didn't get the job when it's been about money. And Jarvis Landry and Leonard Fournett are from, are technically from a different generation. But you're seeing this more and more when it's about money, when it's, when you just get the money. And we say, it's your job, do the job. Yes, that is part of it. And Quincy Williams actually said that. And that clip during the interview, it's not just about the money though.
There's got to be relationship there. There has to be trust there. There has to be a partnership there. And that's where I think coaching in general has to go in the next 10 years. Because it's one thing to have money. I can go anywhere and get money in college football. I can go anywhere. It's more about trust. And you're seeing this now where these guys, they might have played at three different schools. And they might have had three different sets of coaching staffs. And yes, some of these guys, yeah, they're, they're, they're young and stoop. Some of them are young and stupid and full of themselves or whatever. But some of them are looking for genuine relationships. And there's a lot of coaches out there who don't know they're asked from a whole new ground when it comes to relationships. What are you going to do to make me better? Yes, or players if you're entire, you may not be that way. But if your team believes you don't know you're asked from a whole new ground when it comes to helping them out, you ain't going to get anywhere. So that's one of the things that Kevin has to cross over with. Because whether you like it or not, it's more about relationships now than it's ever been. I go back to another example. Now, this is not how Kevin is.
Like a guy when Brian Kelly got let go last year. And he is a demagogue type figure. He's an older guy. He comes from that generation where it's you do as I say and that's it. And that's how this works. And he was compared side by side to Marcus Freeman, who is more of a partnership guy, more of a relationships. Let's do this together. Motivation together. Be smart. Know what we're doing. But everybody has to buy into this goal. And you can't just I can't just accuse you of not buying into my goal. We all have to have the same one. Coaching has to be that way now. When you played for one guy and that's how it was, you can get away with that. I think Kevin, it's one of the things that he's going to have to adjust to in his second time around because this is your last chance. If you fail here, that's it. We're done. But to get to that level, you're going to have to become not somebody you're not, but you're going to have to be a little bit more open with yourself than where you were because we had great conversations behind closed doors
when the red light was off. And then when the red light came back on, it's a different story. Darrell, I understand the question. And we got to coach better and we got to do better and we will. That's that's how that became. I respect your question. I'm now not going to give you any answer to your question, but I will say a lot of words. It's one thing we say to the media, but when you're doing it with your players, they're going to lose that trust. There's a reason he got the worst grade of head coaches in the NFL. I like Kevin and it's no secret. I mean, you're hearing it from the players there. I can't, I can't, I always have to go most of the time. I have to go with what the players said. They're in the room. And I like Leonard Fernandes. I know he wasn't in the room. I have a mountain respect for drivers, Landry. So I got to call it. I see it as much as I may not like the truth. 216474 to below 92. All right, game started noon. We're trying to get another special guest for tomorrow. About you know, the whole March madness thing.
A lot of people agree with me about the second. He's by the way. Think about that. Again, got to maximize that PTO. Well, if you're getting saved it for the summer, enjoy your, your March madness without having to sit on a bag of peas or a bag of ice. And then because in the summertime, you're getting one. You're all you're doing a bag of ice. It's gonna be 90 degrees. All you're doing is putting off stuff that you're going to have to do anyway. So what's the point? So you might as well. If you, I mean, if you wanted to get it today or tomorrow or yesterday or whatever, go ahead and get it today or yesterday and do whatever. But I just think that most bosses know. I mean, the teachers when I was a kid. The teachers would turn on member channel one TV. Oh, of course. Yeah. We talked about that. Jim class was when I was growing up going through middle school. Jim class was sitting around watching March madness. So you watch March madness. Now it's on different channels. So it's a little bit harder. It was great when they would do the cut-ins and things like that. It looks easier to see every game now if you have the access.
But then he got it's fun. Yeah, but then you got the teachers. It was great when you had one when you just went to CBS and they were like, okay, well, this one's clearly a blowout. Here's Valpo. Yeah. Valpo's in one right now and you're getting to it. Yeah, it was great. And they go back to Greg Gummo. We go to Omaha now. We're Ohio State is on the ropes. Like that type of that was awesome. Yeah, the reason that I knew that Greensboro was a place. But it's that's what I'm saying. And then March madness was like a red zone. Yeah. And so that's it was red zone before red zone. Right about that. Totally right. And if the teachers are willing to do it, I mean, if you're a boss, a money's money, but I think you kind of know on the back of your head going, yeah, today and tomorrow are going to be my biggest hard-ass teacher, Ms. Hensley. I love her. She was the hardest teacher though. But you knew because they told you when you came into high school, like, if you guys are cool during March madness, she she threw out the lesson plans.
And that's just what we did in that class. It was a history class. And it was just you did that instead. And it was great. It was great time. But it also was a motivator to get you to pay a little more attention, especially after Christmas. You come back. You know, you've got that leading up to it. It was great. I do miss those days. Yeah. To one say, I do. I hope the kids still get to watch it today. Yeah, I think they'll just watch it on their phone. Well, no, they're not allowed to bring the phones to school now, I remember. You know, Governor DeWire made sure he couldn't do that. Sure, they're not Kim. Hey, I'm not I'm not trying to snitch on anybody. Okay, not not trying to snitch. I'm trying to open that bowl of wax. Let me get the Justin and Justin. Hello. Hey, Ken, how you doing? Good. I had a question for Darryl. Some piece close to the Cleveland or the Berea operations. Is it possible we should have some more trust for Andrew Barry
because last year was the first draft, where you didn't have to listen to some dude from San Diego and influence his picks. So maybe we're run a better path going forward. I thought he was still here. No, Paul. No, he runs the Colorado Rockies now. I know, but I thought he was still here during the draft. He's talking last year, but I think this is his first draft. This is this is the first draft without him. I heard Paul lost power last year and and Andrew was allowed to do as he pleases versus other years. Paul had a larger influence. I don't know if there's a lot. Well, Paul here, this is this is Justin. Thank you for the call. This is the great mystery that surrounds the Browns and what makes them such a spectacular organization. Okay, come on. They everyone has plausible deniability. Nobody knows who's responsible for anything over there. Okay. We have no idea who's making the big decisions over there because,
wow, one minute, it's ownership. The next minute is Andrew Berry. The next minute is the head coach. That's just how she goes. You know, there was a miss, I think, misconception when D. Pedesta was here that he was the one pick and players. And that's not how I understood his role. His role was to provide the information for Andrew Berry then to make the decisions or provide the information for Kevin Stofanski to make the in-game decisions. And also to Paul didn't just have influence. Where was it getting his information? What, D. Pedesta? Yeah. Well, their department that he built there. So for 10 years was just everybody acting against him. Whoever they hired underneath Paul D. Pedesta. Clearly something was missing, Daryl. That's what I'm saying. So what was the information batter? Was everybody just having a mutiny every time they got hired over Paul D. Pedesta? We know that John did. So that's one. Well, yeah, that we know. And you.
And yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, it's been a long time, yeah. Well, again, synergy. That's why they were so big on the whole collaboration. Now, I think they have too much collaboration. Yeah. Well, you certainly have a way to put a bow on things. Don't you just in a minute. All right. Well, we're back tomorrow. Six to 10. That's going to be back. Danny Cunningham. Going to join us tomorrow morning. That we just took a turn in the NBA and with the calves chances and what this all means. Again, Kate Cunningham. Out for an extended period of time. Didn't say season, Shamsharanya. Didn't say season. That Danny's cousin. Out for a period of time. No, it's not Danny's cousin. Kate Cunningham is not Danny Cunningham's cousin. Don't do this to me. I don't know. You said both their names. They have the same ones. Don't you do this to me? Damn it. How about I had to ask Quincy Williams about his brother, Quentin Williams, just approved everybody that I knew that they were brothers? I'm a sad individual. But yeah, Danny Cunningham's going to join us tomorrow.
What this could mean for the Cleveland Cavaliers and how we will feel about it after the calves play the Chicago Bulls tonight. We'll get into all of it tomorrow morning for a big country, for Jeff, for John Boy, for the wonderful, dangerous Darryl Ryder. I'm Ken Carman. Have a wonderful day, friends. Go, calves. Thank you for paying attention and making sure that you're not booing, but you clap. Hey, sounds good. Where's your out to rise now? Cool, I got into the way she'll. Oh, bye.
