2:03great things for Drew Aller. I know Bernie has loved Drew Aller and has been close to Drew Aller for a long time now ever since high school. And I remember like going for Friday night touchdown, like you got to see the way he throws. And I mean, you can tell there was some real serious talent in that arm. I think that he went to I you know what I think about his offensive coordinator over the years. I think that that guy called plays basically so he could get famous on TikTok. I don't think that he did in the best interest of his football team. And I think that Drew Aller was one of the guys that kind of suffer from that. They did not have great wide receiver talent. Me John can tell you all this. I know people are going after John. I wouldn't yell at John earlier. John can tell you all about this. And in John's right, John's he's a good kid. He's smart fan. But I don't think for Drew Aller, I think it would be rough to go from. John, how many people does Beaver Stadium hold? About a hundred and seven thousand. So I don't think it's probably good for Drew Aller to go from a one hundred seven thousand seat fish bowl and a fan base that's called

There was more pressure on him because of his head coach as well to go to the Browns. I don't think it's it's right to do that. So I want him to be successful. I think there is arm talent there. I don't know what went wrong. I got a couple ideas. I don't like that. I went wrong at Penn State. I don't like that. I would love a great story that he's a local kid. I know what I used to say about Mitch Trebisky and all that stuff. Even though I still don't want to draft him the first round. I know what I said about Mitch Trebisky back in the day. Obviously, I tend to like local guys. But I think for him, for his career, for us, for our own emotions and for our own sanity, it's best if he gets drafted because of his talent. He might shoot up the draft board a little bit. But I think that it's probably best for him to be draft someday, day two, day three,

4:07by a franchise that isn't searching yearning for quarterbacks where we're not busting eardrums and having near aneurysms over guys like Tanner McKee. I think the Drew and his family would agree with that. I think that they would agree with that. I would not understand if you drew all his family driving up 71 or something like that and hearing me in my absolute depths during that statement, thinking, yeah, I wanted him to be a part of this. Absolutely. Absolutely. I had the same conversation on my Sunday show. Yeah. I just, I don't want that for him. It's not that I don't believe in him. It doesn't mean that I don't like him. No, I like him. That's why I don't want to subject him to the Cleveland Browse. Yeah. Um, can I ask you, what is a great season for the calves? Getting to the conference finals. Conference finals. Getting back to the conference finals. Do you think a lot of people agree with you? Probably not. I think a lot of

5:09people, especially since the James Harden trade, I think that anything less than the NBA finals would be considered a failure. I've covered enough playoff teams and playoff runs to really understand how tough it is to compete for a championship, let alone win the thing. And I think we have to remember it took, it took the most historic comeback to get over that hill and get a trophy. Okay. Yeah. It took something that had never been done before to do it, right? So that's why I try and catch myself when it comes to the guardians and the calves and the playoffs and saying, well, if you don't win the World Series or you don't win the NBA finals, your season's a waste of time and it's, it's been a failure because I know how hard it is. So for me, I would rather sit here and argue over what it's going to take for the Cavaliers to get through the second round of the playoffs rather than be sitting here

6:10thrilled that they just lost another game to get another ping pong ball in the hopper and maybe they win the NBA draft lottery and have a chance to draft the next great tank. Like we do it with the Browns every year. It feels like like I would rather be where the calves and guardians are, where they're good enough to win their divisions, be in the playoffs on a consistent basis, be in the tournament. Yeah. Is it frustrating that the guardians have one World Series since 1948? Of course it is, but you know what? I will take that over watching what the Chicago White socks have done with the Kansas City Royals have done. Even though I know I know the Royals of one World Series this century, but like where you're losing 100 games every year, the Baltimore Orioles, right? You're losing 100 games every year. You constantly restocking your farm system all the time. Did that hear for 40 years when it came to baseball and Cleveland? So I will, I will take this where what's it going to take to get deeper into the playoffs compete for a championship, over sitting here rooting for the best possible draft position. And the next great

7:15thing. I think we're coming to a crossroads with a lot of folks because I live and I have examined this. So we got into it a little bit at the end of the show yesterday. There was a lot of things going on, but I because Lima's like, why don't you guys like like, why don't you like him? Not Lima. I'm talking about he was wondering about the calves, right? In I think there's a lot of folks last time we went quote unquote all in. It's like you got the you got the best player of the generation arguably of the best. It's overplayed the game. This time it does feel like there's a ceiling there. And it's going to be tough to get through that ceiling. I agree with you. I think a quote unquote great season for the calves is getting to the Eastern Conference Finals. That trade that they made for James Hardin. I'm not going to back off what I said about pencil them in for the finals, but I know that the odds are going to be against me, right? Right. So I think I said the same thing. Yeah, but the trade for James Hardin, like I got excited. I think that you have to go through another off season. I think that if they lose in the first run, it could be an absolute disaster because then I think people start losing their minds and they want out and in all the other scary things to go with it. But I also believe that if they got to

8:18the Eastern Conference Finals, they'd lose to Boston say they lose to Boston. Yeah, people are going to be disappointed, but it is explainable. Okay, what are the next steps that we have? What do we do then? Is there a honest conversation that has to be had? I got to see how the post season goes. Right. But is there a honest conversation that has to be had? I think I don't think it has to be have. I think it will. We have. Yeah. Is there, I mean, we got to have a LeBron conversation, whether you want to or not, we got not just you, everybody, whether we want to or not, you got to have a LeBron conversation. I'd rather go that way than all the other ways that we thought it could go, but I do think that when you go all in, there's just no other way to go because now you're seeing the end of the tunnel. The other tunnels either a championship or broken up. I can't guarantee championships. The champions that you go do in years past, it's changed a little bit because of the new CBA over the last couple of years, but like you go back to when we did it with LeBron and Golden State where they did it naturally, then they brought in Kevin Durant, right? That era basketball is littered with teams. Really, you can go back to the Miami Heat. Really,

9:22if you wanted to do this from 2010 and beyond, that era basketball is littered with teams that went, quote, unquote, all in and failed miserably because they were up against teams that were so good. It made people freak out. So they made bad decisions trying to reach that team in the east, trying to reach the calves. Atlanta made a couple of bad decisions there. Toronto still got it in the end, but Toronto definitely a part of that. There are definitely teams that we don't talk about because they're not memorable that their fan bases would be mad that we don't remember. But in the end, they went all in for it. They didn't get there because it's still hard to do. It's still hard to win a championship. So I agree with you. I think that in Eastern conference finals with the caveat, if it is the Boston Celtics that you lose to, I think that that makes a bit of a difference. If you lost to somebody else, I think that we might be having a different conversation with everybody. But if it were Boston, I think that that's still a great year. The most important thing that happened was the Kobe Altman finally came off the core for it.

10:23What does this? Yes, true. What does this possible move to change the rules have to do with you know who and you know who? If you don't know who they are, Mary Kay does. 11:27The Browns have proposed a new rule where you can trade picks five years into the future, which is a long time. So, A, are they thinking about Archmaning already? B, are they thinking about the future where Miles Garrett will finish his career already? You know, I don't know if any of those things are necessarily connected. I don't see them wanting Miles Garrett to finish his career anywhere but here probably. So we'll have to see how that one goes. I don't really, I don't really know what the future holds for him. And I think we will know more about this rule and about, you know, how they feel about some of these guys. When we go to the NFL owners meetings in a couple of weeks, we can really pick the brains of Andrew Barry and the Haslums and Todd Monkin. So we'll have a better feel for it then. But I don't think it necessarily informs their plans for Miles. My theory, Mary Kay is that they want to set this up like NBA

12:31teams do, you know, the Browns gave up three lost three straight years of first round picks to get to Sean Watson. And my theory is they want to, if they, they want to position themselves and give other teams the opportunity to kind of like space that out, right? So if you want to make another big deal and give up three first round picks, it doesn't have to be in the three consecutive years. You can space that pain out. Do you think that that's more likely the motive behind this or just what do you think the motive behind this is coming from Andrew Barry and the Browns? You know, once again, not really sure because we haven't had a chance to talk to them yet, but I would just think maximizing any opportunity to go out there and wheel and deal. You have seen over the past few years, teams are trading a lot more than they used to. And now at the trade deadline, you're seeing a lot of activity. And I think they just want to have more options. And like you said, maybe more NBA vibe to it where you can spread it out. Like you said, where you can,

13:35you know, is the pain a little bit over the future years. And you know, they were the ones that also tried to increase the trade deadline by two weeks. It ended up being only one week, but they had proposed two more weeks. Andrew loves to wheel and deal. He loves to make trades. And I'm sure while they're in the process of doing this, they see that they can really expand their horizons a lot with something like this. Mary K. Cabot joining us on the show. I really like AJ Appanesa. I think that this is, I wrote not bad when they made this move, Mary K. When you announced this yesterday on social media, because it's like, hey, your defensive line has been good. Let's lean into it a little bit more and make it even better. Well, they lost Cam Thomas to the Falcons and you need depth on that line. So Appanesa comes in here. He in three straight years, he had six and a half, six and a half and six acts. It was last year that he only had two, but he's someone that can give you a nice rotational piece,

14:38a situational edge rusher that can provide some sacks and they need somebody else besides Miles who can do that. And I think in this defense that he will fare very well. You know, Andrew Barry at the Combine had mentioned that youth does not mean that you can't win in the NFL and looking at what they've done to this point, Mary K in the off season, with the offensive line, bringing in some pieces here and there, being selective, how they're spending their money. Nothing is really surprised me to this point. And it really does feel like that they're going to continue to lean in to that youth movement with their draft picks and kind of filling these holes. My question to you is, assuming that they're going to draft skill position guys here in April, does that, will that be enough to make this team better

15:39for Todd Monkin? Because right now, offensively for an offensive barely scored 16-17 points per game, it kind of feels like they've tread water to this point that they just won for one type of an exchange. So do you think they can get demonstratively better offensively just through the draft? Well, I do, again, it all comes back down to the quarterback who's going to be playing quarterback for them. But I do see a brighter future for the offense for a number of reasons. First of all, they had to fix the offensive line. And so far, they've done that very well. I think they'll still add a couple more pieces to that offensive line, possibly even a new left tackle. So starting with the line, you have to do that. And then, once again, it's going to come down to what happens in the quarterback. But I do think that they will add a couple of flashier pieces for the offense. I think you'll see a receiver or two coming in here, maybe a new tight end coming in here through the draft. So you will have some guys with the skill positions. But then also, you have to

16:43remember that you've got a bunch of really young guys from last year that are going to be growing up a lot and elevating their game and taking it to the next level in 2026. And Harold Fanon already had a really nice rookie year, but he should be even better. And then I think Isaiah Bond will be better next year. And you've got Quinshon and Dylan, who are both going to take their game up, providing Quinshon is healthy and ready to go, which he should be. So just by virtue of those guys taking their game up the next notch, I think that is going to help this offense tremendously. And then you've got a new vibe, a new sheriff in town in Todd Munkin, who will bring his own stamp to this offense. Mary K joining us here on the make a right call call right hotline. Mary K is there any conversation at all about you know, overreaching for certain certain players like a Monroe Freeling? It man, it seems like number six overalls very rich, very rich for my blood where he might be a good player in a couple years, but I don't think we

17:48have the patience to wait. Well, I'm sure that's part of the discussion. And I'm sure that they are looking into that very heavily right now. And they still have a lot of draft work to do. They are not done yet by any stretch of the imagination. They're still working through their top 30 visits. We'll be hearing more and more about those in the coming weeks. And once again, you know, we have to dig in more at the owner's meetings and whatnot. But I don't think that they are ready to make their decision yet at number six. Or I don't think they're ready to decide yet if they are staying at number six. These are all things that will be decided over the next four weeks or so, five weeks or so. And I still think there's a good chance that if they can trade down, perhaps they will because they do need assets. They do need draft capital. Having said that, however, I think there are a number of players that can warrant that number six pick. So maybe they do stay there. But I think the inclination will be to trade down some, especially knowing that you

18:50have another pick coming at 24. I like that. I like that idea. Now, what if how enticing is wide receiver there at number six? Is there anybody that can blow their doors off and make a change that opinion? Maybe you? Well, I think there are receivers that warrant the number six overall pick. You know, I definitely think that, you know, you could be justified in taking a car now or a Jordan Tyson there, maybe even a McKinleyman there. But I don't know if they would take one that high. I think that would be another possible trade down scenario where you'd go a little bit later with one of those guys. But certainly, any of those guys will be under consideration at number six as well. The top tackles that, you know, we keep recycling and talking about including our preling. So, yeah, I do think that receiver tackle. And then I just have to wonder. I mean, we've talked about this plenty of times. I just have to wonder how much they would consider

19:53a Simpson at at number six overall. I know that he's on their radar. I know they're working on him. I know they like him. I don't know how much they like him. Only 15 starts at Alabama. I've been watching some of this film. I'm very impressed with a lot of things that he does. But I just don't know if he's someone that they're thinking of in those terms at this point. Yeah, I was just about to ask you about Tyson Simpson, Mary Kaye, because you're right. There is there seems to be some tangible buzz about him and the Browns here. I've been playing a game regularly. Tyson Simpson or future 2027 quarterback prospect. Who is better? And I keep coming back to the 2027 quarterback prospects intrigue me a little more than Tyson Simpson. And I don't know, just you said he, you know,

20:53you're impressed with what you see on, you know, some of the tape that you're watching of him. If they take him, that takes that takes them out of 2027. Do you think he's worth taking yourself out of the 2027 projected QB class? That is the big X factor. That is something that you would have to decide. You would have to weigh him against what you think you can get in 2027. And what kind of picks are you going to have in 2027? If you take yourself out of the Tyson Simpson sweepstakes this year, then you're going to have to be pretty sure that you can get your hands on one of the guys coming out next year that you really like a lot. So, you know, that's the consideration. Are there four maybe five guys that you like as much as you like Tyson Simpson this year? Or are you positioned this year in a spot where you can get your hands on the second best quarterback in this draft? Some might even think the best quarterback

22:00in this draft. So, it's just something that they're going to have to figure out over the next five or six weeks. And I think it's going to be something that could help determine their future over the next even decade. I'm laughing right now. People can see me on YouTube and I'm not laughing at Darryl's question. I'm not laughing at your answer. I'm thinking about something. I'm thinking about what I ran it and raved about at seven o'clock and how that's actually opened me up to Tyson Simpson some way somehow because I'm trying to avoid some fake scenario between radio show hosts about trading for picks and things or trading for jail and hurts and things like that. And I'm like, no, we'll just go get Tyson Simpson so that it's just a crazy thing of what that does to my head. Is defense out of the question for them? You said their work's not done. They have a lot on defense. I mean, they got a lot of talent on that defense, Mary Kay. Is it like out of the question that they're going to draft anybody high or is it still like, hey, you know what best player available is simply that best player available? If that guy's on defense, we're taking that guy on defense.

23:05Well, remember, Andrew goes into the draft, acting as though, and they all do, they go into the draft, acting as though they are restocking an expansion team or stocking an expansion team. So absolutely, they usually play like one. So I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Well, so defense can absolutely 100% be in play with some of those top three picks that they have. At number six, perhaps, you know, number 24, maybe 39. Sure, any of those picks, a defensive player, a dominant defensive player would be in play there. And then the other thing to consider with the number six overall pick, they are going to have to make sure that they seem or express interest in many players there because of the fact that if you want somebody to come up and grab that pick, you've got to talk up some of these guys like really big. So I think that's

24:06something to watch over the next five weeks or so that you know, you will be hearing that they're interested in Greece and Downs and Kate and Simpson and and preling and pretty much everyone because they need interest in that pick if they hope to pick up some assets for next year. Do the Browns win a trophy for being the masters of this gallery? Oh, here we go. Well, they are good at it. They are good at it. I think that they were really early on to the, you know, the restructure bonus and, you know, giving everyone all the veterans a one point to whatever billion base and then a huge restructure bonus. You have to have the the money to be able to do that, but teams do have that kind of money now. It's not like back in the art model days where, you know, you had to borrow from the bank to pay five different banks, five different banks for Andre Ryzen, baby. I mean, now I said us house on fire.
