Hey, thanks for being with us. Yeah, sure. Is your level of excitement the same as us? Like, you've been through a long camp, preseason games, and finally, real football? Yeah, I mean, it's like that every year. I mean, you go through camp, you know, obviously, training camp is what it is. Uh, it's long, you know what I mean? It's hot out there. And I mean, you just kind of, obviously, you get rest practice against each other. But, you know, obviously, we had to join practice versus Miami, but now that you're able to put it all together and go out there play a first-real game. A lot of our first time being together. And to finally see all the hard work that we've been putting in, I'd see it all come together. I mean, that's what we all have been working for, man. So I'm excited. You know, I'm trying to calm these emotions down. You know, obviously, we still got about two more days here. But, you know, as each day keeps going, man, I get a little bit more excited. What's your level of preparation? You've been with other coaches getting ready for seasons.

4:06You talked about the long practices, the hot days in the Greenfire with John Harbaugh, very intense coach. Nice. Do you feel your level of preparation not only as an individual, but as a team? Is that a little bit of a different level this year? Yeah, I mean, that's what it's all about. You know, you go through those hot days, you go through those long days, you know, foot is very moment, you know what I mean. You know, whether, you know, what preseason looks like is different between each team. But at the same time, you go through those, you stress your body out, you stress your mental out. And, you know, you kind of just go through the hard times with one another, man, and get you prepared for the regular season. And, um, each team is like that. You know, I've been a part of part training counts before, you know, on to me, and I see what it does to your body. And I see what it does for your mind and see what it does for it's team. And it's just about that extra fight, I'm saying, you know, when you get into fourth quarter, when these games and being able to, you know, outplay the opponent. So I think we're in a very good spot. We spoke back in June, and you talked about how you guys were learning the defense. And eventually, you guys debut at the coaches and figure out what you do well, and that's what the defense would come together. How has that process worked over the last six weeks?

5:06You guys talking to the Darts, and aren't talking to you, and kind of taking everything you've worked on, and now narrowing the focus into what actually worked. Yes, a player, coach communication. Um, you know, what we feel on the field, what the coaches feel, we all come together as one. That's what this game is about. It's not about one out one, the other is about coming together to get one job done, and that's the one football games. And, you know, I think we've been doing that, you know, not just for me, but for everybody. Everybody, a coach, I like this, or I don't like this, or whatever. And, you know, Dinar tells us, you know, what he likes for us, and what he needs to see for us. But it's an expectation. It's an expectation to go out there and dominate. Expectation to go out there and be great. And, you know, I think just, you know, the way that we've been approaching it, and I've seen it before, just as far as, you know, a good defense, a good team. I mean, the level of focus is there. The level of execution is there. Now it's just about going out there and applying into the game. So we got the guys, we got, you know, who we need to be successful. Now it's about going out there and applying. Do you have a really good feel for what this defense is going to look and feel like, now that you've been through the summer, or even for a player, do you have to wait for the real game

6:07to see how it actually all comes together against a real life opponent? I mean, I think it's a little bit of both. You know what you got, you know what you got? You know what we've been doing at practice, but you know, when you go out against different opponent, you're going to get different looks from the offense, and it's going to be different challenges that come. That's life for the NFL. You know, nothing has ever just, oh, I got it. You know, I like to tell guys the time you think you got it. It's the time you got it. The time you don't. So I'm never going to say we truly got it, but as far as what I feel, you know, I feel that we can be a really good defense. I do feel that, you know what I mean? I'm not just speaking that out. I've seen it. We've been living it. We've been practicing, and that's just, that's been IMO. I mean, that's been our everyday life, waking up each and every day preaching it to one another, not just preaching it, but putting it on tape so we can see it from one another so we all can believe it. So definitely feel that. I think in June, you also said to me, we want to try to make it simple for us but complicated for the opponent. Yeah. Do you think you've gotten there? Oh, yeah, we've gotten there. You know what I mean? Anytime you're in the first time scheme is going to be things that come up, you know, it's simple for everybody, but at the same time, this is all our first time. So it's going to be stuff that we got to, you know, get situated, stuff that we got to sort out,

7:07but that comes with, you know, us playing together for the first time, but, you know, you got to love stuff like that. That's the process that I always keep talking about, you know, the process of being great, the process of creating something that's going to last us, you know, and I mean, the whole year. So it's just about, you know, learning from those mistakes and you know, keep coming out there, making all friends, making everybody out there filled as each and every time we out there. Where have you seen the progress from Arvel Reese over the course of the summer and what your fans expect from the rookie on Sunday night? Yeah, I think just, you know, the way he processes the game, you know, I've been saying, you know, a tremendous, you know, I mean, leap from 21st came in just as far as, has my set just as far as, you know, what he's actually keying in out there, what he's seeing, how to stay ahead of plays. And, you know, it's like a, we hope each other type of thing. I think I told you earlier as well. It's not just me telling him what to do or him telling it, it's, it's no, we all dead together, man. We're going to get this job done together. And it's not just us too, you know what I mean? It's us too. We got none of the guys. We got none of them out there with us, man. It's all the loving guys to make something special happen, you know what I mean? It's not just one player, two players, three.

8:08Now, we got guys around that we can feed off each other's energy. All right, let's talk about the guys in front of you. Because we haven't seen either Shelby Harris or DJ Reader in a preseason game. We did see him in the scrimmages against Miami, right? What should fans expect from those two vets and the rest of the defensive tackles in front of you and R-Vel? So you guys don't have those offensive linemen, get to that second level and kind of get hands on you. Right, you know, I think we've been talking on camp all our season just about stopping the run. I think that's our number one thing that we want to do as a defense. Obviously, you got to make a team one dimensional. It's the, I'm not going to say easiest, but it's, you know what I mean? It's something that you have to do to be a successful defense. You know, you can't let a team have success running the football and the mental to success. Fundamentals to success. So, you know, I think what we can expect from those guys and what they've been preaching in a room is being physical. You know, when those guys came in, I was number one thing. You know, how have all had this thing as far as, what can we expect from you as a football player? I think all those big guys said, I'm physical and you can expect me to go all out and I'm a lead on the line for my brothers. And, you know what I mean? I've been sitting at each and every day. Great guys off the field, but just a mindset

9:09when they own a field, they nasty man and they want to make plays and they don't mind doing a dirty work. That's what I like about those guys. It's not like they coming off complaining like, hey, this is what I got at night. I understand this is my job and they take pride in it. All right, you're going to be in a chess match with Dak Prescott for 60 minutes on Sunday night. He's a veteran quarterback. He's cerebral. He knows what to do with the football. What is that like for you? Is he's making checks? You're seeing what he's doing and you're trying to get your team into the right formation. Yeah, I mean, that's football, man. You love to do that. That's why I chose to play Mike Lyme back. It's just about, you know, trust in my process, trust in what I see out there. You know, trusting what Denari has as far as skiing wise for as far as execution and just going out there to do it, you know what I mean? Not thinking twice. Trust what we see on film. Trust what we see on the field and making sure that communication is clear. I think when you're playing against good teams, good quarterbacks, the communication execution got to be at all time. I, because you know, as much as a chess match, you want to make sure that you execute it. Execute on your side of the ball, you know, more than trying to trick the offense, you know what I mean? Let's make sure that we plan fast, make sure that we all know what we're doing. And then we go out down the top. They run a pretty varied run game.

10:09Gap scheme stuff. They move guys around, tight ends is looping around and you know, doing even go motion one way, come back and black on the backside. The other way, as a mental linebacker, what do you have to be ready for in terms of their run game and maybe some of you're not giving us your keys, but making sure your keys are sharp. So you know exactly what they're trying to run so you're in the right spot. And then the number one thing is making sure your eyes are in the right spot. Throughout the different formations, different motions, whatever it is, making sure that you know what your key is and make sure you can and when the ball is getting ready to get snapped. Like you get the call, I tell everybody, it's like a routine. You get your call, put your eyes on your key, lock in, know what your stresses are, and then get ready to go to work. You know what I mean? I don't want to talk about what all our keys are. And all the, you know what I mean, but stuff like that. But at the end of the day, it's making sure you know what your key is, making sure your eyes there. And then when it's something that ball, the snap guard that make a plug. All right, then finally, the weapons in the past game, you get a jig Ferguson and tie it in the guy, you're going to be dealing with it, 80 catches last year. Then of course, you have the two monsters outside and wide receiver. What do you guys have to do to just keep those guys on the control? Yeah, like I said, it goes back to execution. I mean, we know we want to do game plan wise to you know, minimize some of the, you know,

11:10the big plays that they like to make with some of those guys. Know what the stresses are, know where your hope is. And you know what I mean, go out there and challenge. And I think that's the number one thing. You want to challenge, you want to make it hard, you know what I mean for the offense and make it hard for the guys to you know, get open and you know, just make it frustrated, you know, when you get hands on it and when you do different things as far as scheme wise that we have in the game plan. I mean, you know, you make it harder for the offense. So a lot of that stuff, as much we want to talk about them, I always say man, it always comes back down to us. Like what do we do? Well, do we know what we're doing? Can we do it fast? And you know what I mean? Can we figure out a way to be dominant? All right, then final question. We've seen the first couple games of the year. So sloppy sometimes, right? You get procedural penalties. We've had a lot of turnovers on the Wednesday and Thursday night games. As a player, how do you make sure that the games as clean as possible in that first game to kind of keep the adrenaline under control, you know, and try to treat it like it's any other game? Yeah, I think number one thing, first of all, it's thoughts early in the week. Practice is how you, I believe in practice is how you play. Practice like that. Practice being clean. Practice not having penalties. Practice running to the ball. Practice the little things that's going to show up

12:12on a game day that we, that people may see as negative. But if it happens in practice, if you do it right in practice, not times out of 10 is going to be right in the game. So I think that we've been stressing, and I think God's been trying to be locked in. Execution has been high. And, you know, I think that gives you the confidence going into game day to be like, no, I did this before I've been doing this all week. So now it's just another day, you know, it's another day in office. Obviously the lights are on, but at the same time, we've been doing this all week. So trust your preparation, trust your process, and then go out there and have confidence and let it, let it free and go out there and fly around. Traumae and good stuff, man. Appreciate the time.
