They could have just won the game and kept the money as well sure But they're they're basically a big revenue driver for you every year. You know, there's some years where two big 10 teams play Western Michigan

Oh, so that's even more Consider what you're saying is is that hey, we keep our opinions towards sell so we keep getting scheduled for $1.5 million This was the SEC or even honestly if this were the big 10 two teams in the big 10 Uh-huh, we would have we would have temporary restraining orders. This is Cleveland sports radio 92 3 the fan Morning good morning Kenneth good to talk to you good to see you. Did you like me blowing the horn like being in your company? Did you like me blowing the horn? Bad mood ever since you did it because you showed up early so I was out in my truck trying to listen to some audio and trying to listen to Brear and like He comes pulling in It's five in the morning and I'm like what's he I saw the Jeep come up like what's he doing here sorely so there must be problems at home

What he showed when you know that what a guy at work start showing up early going oh Oh, what's happening there some problems Anyway He came around the corner. He just lays on the horn. It's five in the morning. I'm like what are you doing? Ken was not laughing. No, I wasn't Because you know you threw off the equilibrium you threw everything off We always adhere to how you want life to be and you demand quiet a deal and stoicism And in it just like Tim comes in there Hey, well, yeah, how you doing hey, how you doing? Hey, how you doing? Hey, how's he going? I'm like They're just stay there. Don't do it. Keep that energy away. Spats you open up the door. Oh, yeah Hey, how you doing? We finally had to be like hey, buddy Up after the show's great, but there's a way that we come in It can't be we can't be Well, I'm not gonna do like he's just like whoa like easy like morning guy thing

And as lot as I am and as energetic as I try to be it is five in the morning and nobody in this room Is in a great mood when they get in here now? Jeff's in a bad mood. Oh, John's in a bad mood worst Oh, and is actually sometimes pleasant Um, and everybody's just in a bad mood you warm into it you ease into it Now bill the on the other side. Yeah, he adheres he adheres. Hey, how you doing? That's it morning Walks by morning he understands how the game is played every non then you get a hey, how you doing that's about it maybe on a Friday But that's it and well the other one. I don't know. I say hi to the coworker now is almost a bitch. It's see if I can get a smile. Yeah And So it you threw me off when you did that this morning. I don't care for you have it then I doubled down while you Wins the convenience store and you wish there buddy have a good show and I'm like Jay doesn't have a show Why do you wish and Jay to have a good show or wrong there Jay might have the longest run show in this building he actually might

He has a show every morning with the guys coming down to get their loose season. He the regulars Did I tell you guys the MTV oddities that he has walking through there the one day over the summer lime had me yelling at him And he goes what are you on about up there? I went how did you know he goes? I can hear you through the ceiling I was like are you serious goes yes, that's how loud you were and I was like well like you got me really mad I don't know you remember what it was about. He's got like one big run in a week With a regular and he's like ah I told him I told him three days ago. No, you're not doing this Now he just took off my favorite know he won Google's like best downtown. Yeah, yeah And they showed the prices are great for the show that he does every day unpaid testimonial You think you're gonna pay downtown prices. There's one place you do not pay downtown prices. Yeah, the prices were good on the candy bars They still are good on the candy bars. They were that much better with the candy bars down there Mars corporation and he is the other thing about the candy bars

It's just no yeah he charges a fair price. This is it him they come in because we all know we've got our twixes We've got our snickers But they've come in and they really haven't reinvented a whole bunch with the candy bars And this has been a pet peeve and I've talked with them over the course of a decade about this They come in with the new flavors of the candy bars and because there's always a caramel a caramel You know, so there's always a different one. Yeah, and then they cut it half And there's just two chunks of the candy bar. You know, he's not the guy at the conveyor. I know he's not doing it I know You blame him for everything that he has no control over whatsoever Well, that's where you put the mouth on him and you're just like you're shopping for things that you can also get everywhere What he does best is he provides you with things that you'd never see anywhere else Exactly and that's the value right there. He does he has it all. It's got everything. He's got shaving powder down there I never knew there was such a thing and then he taught me about it t-shirts. You can get down there

You have bottle openers down there magnum condoms you can get down there if you need them. They got them They got him. Yes, I'm thinking I'm thinking of any to veto in sunny all the sins man You got all the types of sins the birthday cards has those two birthday. No, he doesn't anymore Because we weren't buying them And then they stopped bringing them after covid he ain't got them anyway I want to bring this up so later on today at nine o'clock We have doctor John Steinbrecker who's joining us on the show who wrote a scary thing letter um About the decision that was made with the big 10 and said like hey, you know what? Uh, we're not down with this So this is his statement you ready for the statement you want to talk to John Steinbrecker He is the met commissioner of the mac I didn't say that no Oh, I'm sorry. He's the commissioner of the min American conference And he wrote after further study and investigation This is about the Michigan Western Michigan game I after further study and investigation is now evident that replay protocol was not properly followed in determining whether

Time remained on the game clock at the conclusion of the western Michigan versus Michigan football game The established replay protocol requires that the game clock displayed on the program feed Be used in determining whether the time remained instead the big 10 conference replay crew relied upon the clock feed embedded within its replay system as a result one second was placed back on the game clock An additional and an additional play was reordered awarded This was not a judgment regarding the proper amount of time with the place on the clock It was an air in the application of the established replay protocol governing this specific end-to-game timing situation Had the protocol been properly followed and the program feed clock been used no additional play would have been awarded And western Michigan would have won the game 12 to 7 As a result the min American conference has submitted formal appeals to the NCAAFVS oversight committee And college football playoff the macters requesting that those bodies recognize western Michigan

As the actual winner of the game for purposes of their respective rankings valuations and selection deliberations and take such other corrective action as maybe within their authority Finally Finally because I disagreed with you yesterday. We're like, yeah, not a big deal's being made They're gonna take your 1.5 million go on. I'm like I think other teams big time colleges are gonna schedule a directional Michigan To come into town I think Ohio State would look at and go that's Michigan's problem that a and us won't be to break southwestern Michigan I don't care if they won the Mac last year like I just don't think they're gonna do that And I'm glad that in the now P6 or g6 which is growing because there's more teams being left out of the top quality college football Conferences and it's gonna continue to happen as I'm sure the big 12 will eventually succumb to it in the ACC If not this year by 2031 will absolutely succumb to it is that there's going to be more g6 g7 g8 teams and then there's going to be more that get taken up by the other ones

So the mag asked to fight for the teams and so John Steinberger had to do something I mean you got Northern Illinois leaving. I brought this up the history. So I'm glad he wrote some I don't think it's going to make much damn difference. Not but I'm glad I'm glad to stick at least the racist thing Came out last night and says it cannot overturn mission. Oh, that's a two-fus-fechless organization of nothing over western Michigan after the Mac appeals the outcome But then later in the day this took another turn and that's why I can't get enough of this story Because all along the Michigan fans keep pointing to a bunch of it is awesome They keep pointing to a bunch of doctored clocks and they are now experts on everything when it comes to The time keeping in college football. It's like one of those anytime political a nude political scandal comes out Dustin Hoffman and hook will all the clocks around him freaking out. Yeah every every time something happens Now people become overnight experts on something they never cared about previously Oh, but this is great because Michigan is defending this every step of the way and they're trying to vilify all these people as if they're the

Agreeved ones even though I said this had They not have been given an extra second would Michigan fans really have been running around saying they were screwed No, they just would have been mad at under-wishing for losing Yeah, they would have been mad at their team, but then they got to still are They know we're talking about benching right under what after the game. Are they that? Yes, that I was gonna say, but they don't seem very mad at their team when they're jumping up and down at midfield There's some embarrassing. Well, that was unbecoming there was even more embarrassing video they came after anyway Uh, the NCAA even after they said they oh, we can't overturn this Which I don't know they vacate wins all the time. I don't know why they can't overturn But after saying they can't overturn this They did come out and say from this point forward we are never doing that again We are never looking at this other mystery clock so Again if I hear that and I'm western Michigan. I'm like okay, so you're you're validating our argument You're validating the max are you nothing stopping western Michigan from saying they beat Michigan Um as we found out with UCF in the bounce house you can always claim an ashi

And you can always claim a contested win. It still says it's one of the team or whatever So I find this amazing. I find it fascinating because now it's official. I this right I had a big disagreement with Kenny yesterday He said this wasn't gonna stick to Michigan forever. This wasn't gonna be Uh, and I couldn't disagree more yesterday and I think now today Because that's what you might be right on well just because this is gray area and really I'm just it might my beef is with the Michigan fans They want this to go away. They want this to never be talked about again and who knows if if they just get the doors blown off This weekend against Oklahoma Then who knows I just think that one second thing is forever gonna be a Michigan storyline And then rushing the field after and now the NCAA say we'll never do what we did during that game again with a clock I just love it. It couldn't get any better I actually agree with you and there's a reason for it is that what what Dr. Steinbrencker did and we're gonna have him on coming up at 9 o'clock again

He's gonna join us live on the phone. We'll talk about that is that this is going to have actual ramifications because there's committee that meets about the playoff And I don't think that Michigan is a playoff team and I don't think that any I don't think I'm breaking ground I don't think anybody thinks they're a playoff team and You know, I'd be surprised. I know they have Oklahoma at home But you know They just don't seem to be that great this year all right already And there seems to be some holes But if it comes down to it and it comes down to like one loss or or two losses or something I think obrbrier Specified this in so many ways yesterday. I want you to listen to this answer with that obrbrier game Now this is an Ohio State alum famously, but here's what obrbrier said about the um About maybe the the wind being worse from Michigan I hate the idea overturning the result however is them the best part about this for me I was a little bit like damn I kind of like group from his western Michigan there at the end of that game Then me and like a couple of my test groups decided this is actually better bluesy games just bluesy game

But this is like really embarrassing the reaction that the field storming the mean mugging by underwood I almost feel it's more embarrassing what happened in the aftermath the fact that everybody saying things like from the school You a title you don't recognize here's a one you don't recognize is this better I mean, we remember the Appalachian State game for how many years now, you know what I mean? Oh, and if they overturn this result, we would remember this one even more There's a homing excuse for them. It becomes even bigger like if they go out there and just get there You know what kicked in then like then what I like it because then it becomes an argument now For the teams that plan that need that win as a quality win if they keep losing or if they actually lose I had talked about them like they did lose um Which they really probably should have but If they lose one or two like this is used against them in a committee. This is used against them in public It is a big injustice that feels like it's been done now. I look at both sides. I'm like well Well, we're all talking about Michigan and I know nobody is losing sleep over western Michigan, but

They did win the Mac last year. They did and what if they went out they had boys. He stayed What if they went out what does their case what does the committee do then their team 12 So already a total seven AP voters have western Michigan ahead of Michigan. You're gonna put so I love that so much that this is a great thing Seven voters have already said we are not acknowledging that Michigan's a better football team based on a result and Jeff Saggeron We we had to explain to young John who Jeff Saggeron was because back in the age Jeff Saggeron mattered Believe it or not. He was one of the pollsters in the BCS that that mattered and even before that his rankings were The kind of kind of famous in the college football world He's an official NCAA recognized national championship selector still He chose to recognize western Michigan's 12 seven win over Michigan in his ratings this season So he's not accepting well, that's the beauty of the first opinion Like that's the beauty of a vote like they went from one vote

They went from one vote and the others receiving votes and something we'll probably bring up again later To 12 votes. So there are definitely people like now that's BS like that's the fun of college football And I know they said they can't overturn it you said vacate wins they can vacate wins But they didn't just give those wins to the other team. I don't believe no like the only thing I've ever seen overturned and turned into a Forfeit as illegal players and I don't know what's a well the only team that apparently can use illegal players anymore That can get caught using illegal players anymore is LSU and Akron maybe to to to vaunted programs in college football I'll issue and Akron Apparently using illegal players. Okay. That's like the only way that you can actually overturn something but It does provide a precedent here for well again the NCAA is saying they will never do what they did again So if you're Western Michigan you're sitting there going well then just give us the win There should have never been a second you're admitting there should have never been a second

But I think in the heads and hearts of the voters they have been given the win It just doesn't say so on paper what they need to do it one more Hail Mary best of three You get one more the first one not so good the second one good, but shouldn't happen all right Let's do a third Well, agree. Let's do a third and whoever gets it with her to worst ideas For better, but I've certainly heard worse So coming up at nine o'clock. I want Dr. John Steinbrett's words on this Zach Jackson gonna join us at 720 and Good for Baker and you know what? Good for Brown's fans. I mean that sincerely Ken Carmine Anthony lime alive in the fan I solemnly swear what I'm about to say is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God I want to bring it up to Zach at 720 What I'm about to say is the absolute truth right here hand up in the air and it's my right hand Good for Baker may field and good for Brown's fans

You want to why yeah? All right, so he signs a three-year extension $160 million. That's nothing to fart at That would put him in the franchise quarterback category like I I've always been kind of ticky-tack with you and I And I've even brought it up with callers because I have been annoyed too It's some of the revisionist history that we've caught people on where like I've had people write about How bad the Browns are and how terrible they are and how if we would have just kept Baker may feel I'm like I got the receipts. I know what you wrote four years ago about Baker may field here I'll put the screenshot next to each other about what you said um Our our comments though are public their comments usually aren't So yeah people flip flop and they do that all the time with quarterbacks I am 100% on the record and you have backed me up on this is to show that loves to call me out for Maybe misremembering things I did not think Baker was long for Cleveland I thought that we should have brought in a veteran to compete and held on to him

Because I didn't think we were just could give him up And then they went and they traded for DeShon Watson Which is a trade that I did not want to happen a million times over But you've heard so many opinions on it over the years that maybe you get it crossed up Again, Anthony remembers these things we keep long score long term with each other He would have thrown it in my face But I was one of the people go man. He's he seems broken too. There's something wrong here. There's this is bad This is not good. He and people forget about the year in Carolina and he's done Well after the year in Carolina because it finished up in LA and that seemed to like kind of get him reset with Chamexay and then obviously he's done a pretty fine job down there at Tampa Bay. I'd have to say You know whether or not you say it's a super bowl winning quarterback I think that's a relative conversation because you know Sam Donald is one of super bowl I think a lot of people didn't think that he'd be a super bowl and in quarterback So I think that door is definitely open But this is the reason why I say good for Baker good for good for us because For Baker yeah

You were almost given up on you were seen as a bust and afterthought now you've made a boatload of money And they're gonna get you're gonna continue to get paid a boatload of money and it should I mean with how this contract is I don't think it's going to be crippling at all to their cap So they should be able to put some people around him Why do I say it's good for Browns fans It can be good for Browns fans And the reason I say it is because this has been a franchise that if you pay attention to the history Since the Haslam's own it They have over they have tried to over correct mistakes I think they're getting a quarterback next year And I think that it's not always going to be peaches and cream with that quarterback And they are going to exhaust every option possible And not freak out with that quarterback before they actually were to give up on the guy They're gonna do everything they can I think they'll be more judicious with how much power the young man gets As far as picking coaches

So the rearranging schedules all the things that we had heard with Baker here I think that they're going to be a little bit tighter on Hi, I'm PJ vote and I want to tell you about my podcast search engine We try to make sense to the world one question at a time No question too big no question too small We will even answer your questions if you send them in Stuff like what happens when a cemetery goes out of business What should we do about teens using AI to do their homework Who buys luggage at the airport luggage store Follow and listen to search engine in partnership with Odyssey wherever you get your podcasts That I Hope so Because it has been a team that has again tended to over correct their mistakes from the past and one of their mistakes was It was too much too soon for Baker to have that type of power within the organization He wasn't ready for it I think that he even would probably admit that right now He's much more ready for it now because he's an older person He's a much more mature person And I hope that the bronze would learn from that mistake

And it would serve them better And hopefully we can actually get this quarterback situation right next year instead of languishing Out in the middle of the ocean like we've been doing for the better part of Going on three decades now go ahead You know, it's interesting Baker's now 31 years old And where does the time go and we get his pretty talk about Man if Baker was here if Baker was here right now I actually I know this is it was so rock bottom with to Sean Watson Even though we did make the playoffs, you know, the here the flack of one on the amazing run that notwithstanding That people think had Baker have never left Um, then the Browns would be in this great spot I'm like I mean you guys forgot how bad it was at the end for Baker And that when we brought on national people at the end of the year They almost all came on and said you got to move on you got to move on There were other remember Kirk cousins that was a big that was a big discussion And we couldn't find a lot of people that were like no, this is going great with Baker Mayfield

And there were those out there and certainly I mean we did we did every day the Baker wars at the end And it was rock bottom for Baker At least we thought and then he went to Carolina and it was bad again So I play a scout team defense I will never be under the belief that we should have just kept him everything would have been fine Yeah, like just because it got so bad with to Sean Watson The assumption is it would have been better with Baker and I'm like Man he did not just magically heal from that injury and then have great football right afterwards And there was some soul searching The McVeigh thing even it was how long was he even there but that was given a lot of credit last year weeks of the year But it did seem to be like it did seem to kind of settle them down and have him play confidently again And show him that he can still do this at a high level because I mean there were some I know we remember 2021 But there were definitely some really good times with Baker Mayfield as well. Oh yeah Like it is as bad as things did get in 2021 We're not going to sit here and act like there wasn't good things in 2020 And there wasn't good things in 2018 or anything like that

It was uneven But I think had everybody had calmed down Like my argument is that we wouldn't be in this This wonderful feeling of of Kumbayan we'd be counting super bowls or anything like that It's just it's better than this and it would be much better than this arguing about whether or not like I I can't put them in the same category as Josh Allen Maybe I could put him in the same category in some way down in Cincinnati Not what overall talent like Joe Burrow is a is a supreme talent But it's like hey, are we gonna be able to punch your ticket here with this guy like what's going on here Is he gonna threaten to leave is he not gonna threaten to leave like what's going on Maybe that's a comparison, but I'm trying to think of like a high level maybe even rivers Maybe that's the guy like a high level guy who's been able to put up some numbers Who yeah you take your respect as a quarterback, but do you take them seriously in January? How serious do you do like maybe that's it still we can have that argument all day long It's still better than what the arguments we've been having here over the last four years

And so that's where I hope that the hazelms are and the browns are on all this where it's like hey You know what what happened happened. There's nothing we can do to change that. I don't think he was ever gonna be a free agent All right, if he played well Excuse me if he played well this year on the he was ever gonna be a free agent They were either gonna sign him to a long-term deal Or they were gonna franchise tag him and move on So I wasn't worried about the Pittsburgh thing which was a weird question the Keith asked me I kind of wanted to throw it by you But I think that that the history we can't revise it we can just learn from it And I hope that we learned from this situation because I like I hope I've not given everybody the idea And I don't think I have and I don't think you have that all we need to do is get to April and then once we have that guy We're gonna take no we're gonna have we're probably gonna have some some moments We're probably gonna have some questionable moments with that guy We're probably gonna have some moments where we question him question what he did like it sports It's professional sports look at the team game look at the baker draft you make the argument He ended up being the fourth best quarterback in that draft and we did all the time and we took him number one overall

um So just just having a pick in the draft. It's high You know depending we who knows what pick we're gonna have in next year's draft we get up number One overall look at it's number eight nine ten It's not even about number one, but if you were to end up with more manning Uh It's like it's like you're gonna have to be patient like there's gonna have to be and we're gonna have to calm some people down and go Let's go to the table before we go to the mattresses here and let's have a conversation here before this becomes an all-out war I know we gotta go do you think Baker can win the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay I still do I still do not I still am not a believer after all these years all this money All this volatility I don't think they can this year. I think they can in three years I think they can in two years. Do you take his body is gonna hold up? I don't overtuck to that That I know no but you're always the thing about baker that he wasn't Josh Allen He couldn't absorb all those hits and still be able to do all the things

You can see last year the minute that his injuries just kind of pile up over the season. Yeah, I will never question His fortitude resiliency That guy is gonna bring it. I just think he doesn't have the body that these other guys do even Patrick my homes who who gets worn down He doesn't have those gifts to be able to do that and now those hits the toll just keep piling up I want you to and I wonder if he's playing his best football I don't know that he's gonna get any better answer this answer this question. We'll come back now What do you think what upset Brown's fans more? Seen Baker get this three year deal or If he became a free agent and signed with a rival like I think we know who we're talking about I want you to answer that question in five minutes as well as first It was chased a lot or then it was Travis Besson. Let's see if we can get him to talk some trash about Tanner Bobby Ken Carm and Anthony Lyman live in the We go around the FC North eight o'clock week one of the NFL season. I want you to answer something I want to see if we can coach John Into doing something for us. I asked you right before the break. What would upset Brown's fans more seem Baker get this three year deal

or If he became a free agent signed with the team like Pittsburgh I'm the wrong guy to ask that question Kenny why Because you're your names on the show so I have to ask you the question. I can't just well I'm the wrong guy to ask because If I don't think a quarterback is capable of winning a Super Bowl And I think his body's gonna continue to get worse and worse and worse than I want him on the rival I want you want him to play for Pittsburgh plus it's great for the rivalry You know you've always told me we need things to make this rivalry Better and better and better as I told you that NFL rivalries aren't aren't as big a deal You're not the wrong guy to answer or ask the question you've answered the question And I thought you answered the question quite and I disagree but you answered the question quite nicely Yeah, that to me would be the better alternative then say Pittsburgh finally being bad and going into the draft and getting a guy for the next 10 years I'd rather if I was going up against him I'd rather have have Baker So you have no problem taking on Tampa Bay next week

Oh, well then that's kind of irrelevant in this case just because we're one of the I'm expecting us to be one of the worst teams of football So okay, it's not I you know what I mean like it's obviously I want to beat him But nothing can be done until next year you were saying under that under this hypothetical so it wouldn't even have mattered okay Because I Mean I I tell you I think that we have a great chance to win on Sunday considering its week one A great chance. I think we do. I think we do have a great chance But I would tell you that week two you probably have a chance because Anytime he's pressed He's gotten in his own way So I do think you'd have two chances But you have a quarterback who's afraid of his own shadow who's playing for you Well him I'll tell you Baker getting this contract done, you know I said three weeks ago When he made training camp all about his contract and he was talking to the team about his contract He would then he talked to the team about not making his trading kid all about his contract Definitely, that's what a guy would say if he was trying to mute the conversation He was trying to having more conversations publicly and then telling the media that what he was doing was putting pressure and it worked

He got the contract done. He did now. We have to see the actual terms of the contract as as we know a lot of these deals unless they are You know the top flight elite level players a lot of these deals you start to uncover Oh, yeah, the guarantees aren't exactly what they are This isn't anywhere near the money that you think they're gonna be and then we find out way later like a year and a half later like That wasn't even close to the you know annual per year that we thought it was gonna be But either way good job getting it done And so maybe this won't be weighing on him He doesn't have to prove everybody wrong every step of the way So I think it was a good job by both sides. I get it done So I think that it's it's to me It's more convenient to keep him in the NFC South and to keep him with Tampa Bay You're only gonna see him a handful of times during his career if that if he were to become a free agent sign on with one of these other teams I mean again, I think that this this crop of quarterbacks is coming up. I think that no team or no fan base would be as jazzed about him If he had to hit free agency because You know, I always said this about offensive lineman and I still mean it

I know that Tyler Linda Bond became an off became a free agent But there's still few and far between the real top quality offensive lineman usually don't hit free agency And the usual top quality quarterbacks usually don't hit free agency And so if he were to become a free agent from Tampa Where they kind of stuck in the middle I'd be like, I don't know where he's gonna sign and maybe I would turn myself into some sort of a pretzel thinking He was gonna do poorly in Pittsburgh I just don't need to go through like next week's gonna be a weird week Something's gonna be said some there's gonna be some uglyness leading up to it I guarantee it. I don't think it's just gonna be Kumbaya whatever. We're gonna interpret everybody's words differently Remember the monk man was here in 2019 So words are gonna be said in some fashion and we're gonna have to break down a press conference and guarantee it And I only have to do that once every like three or four years when he plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers I don't need to do that every like twice a year and you would say Yeah, maybe you would just settle into a rhythm of that he plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers and that's it

It it it really got ugly and nasty and like for a while it kind of went that way with Ben Ralthusberger And then at the end when he just kind of got bored with life He seemed to be taking shots at Cleveland every year he possibly could So I and I think that Bakers a guy who takes everything personal I think he'll take things personal next week And I think he would have taken things personal over the next how many years if you were to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers over the offseason So that being pointed out it's like hey again, I get a chance for my team to learn a lesson To not freak out like this ever again And give up three first-round picks for a basket case to replace somebody that we probably could have repaired the relationship on Hopefully we'll learn that lesson and I got nothing against him. That was a what that was a once in a lifetime situation You say that now, but there's been plenty of chances for there's plenty of chances for history to repeat itself I don't I want to make sure that they remembered this lesson as long as they can Those guys on paper as good as shallots and never available in the first place you can't trade right like you Wouldn't even it wouldn't even come up and I hope that they have this conversation

So I hope I hope we'd never have to have this conversation someday I hope the guy they taken in April just set sail and everything's great But if they don't or if he's not I don't want to have the old on paper conversation again because everybody thought on paper. He was gonna be great Now he's not even good on paper. No, he's not good on paper. It's an unprecedented fall from grace Yeah, he's never seen in sports. He's not good on papyrus. He's not good on anything Uh, I hope that this is a lesson they learn and I hope they take with them For the end of days. I mean you should always be trying to upgrade your quarterback though You don't you don't dispute that going after a quarterback better than baker wasn't a stupid decision I I just you were trying to maximize your window and baker was how tailspin I understand that I could understand the logic behind it But I didn't understand I understand the logic behind trying to improve your quarterback position But I still didn't understand the logic going after to Sean Watson I think we were pretty clear on the record about all that stuff I didn't want to have to deal with any of the fallout there Even though you didn't mean he was better than baker

Of course I mean it at the time he was better than baker But I still didn't think it was gonna be that's why that's why the national people that came on did they they they were like Yeah, this is a massive upgrade and I still didn't think it was gonna be that much better than what it was And I ended up being right about that did I not I think it was you were the one guy that predicted the all-time unprecedented fall I think it was gonna be I never said it was gonna be this bad But I never thought it was gonna be as good as what you made it out to be I just think Again, this isn't this isn't you but like the learning the learning the lesson like yeah You should always try to upgrade your quarterback if you don't think the guy is capable of getting to the Super Bowl And winning in the window that you had and as you see these windows close very fast So I don't want them to learn that lesson. I do want them you don't want them to learn a lesson after over if the If they can remain in professional sports if they have a window and their quarterback isn't good enough The lesson is just keep the quarterback and hope that he gets good no the cool the lesson is is that sometimes an idea That's too good to be true. It probably is too good to be true. Yeah, and it ended up being way too good to be way too true The only true part about it is that we were sucking again

And the only way we had out was with a journeyman 40 plus your old water bath So yeah, I do want them to learn that lesson Anthony So you're willing to just go into it again with a guy that again you like I said you would be with me all the time to give it It's it's kind of a move point because it's not even going to become available the guys guys don't Don't like to sit out have him not play football for a year have the issues going with the ownership I understand him behind the scenes and then we learn about acuaseate like this is not gonna have like that We'll never have time But I think there will be quarterbacks that are available again And I think that they need to do their very due diligence even better this time around They were willing to do it That was the thing you know you you did they did their due diligence until they knew that Baker wasn't gonna Want to come back and they knew that they were gonna be stuck they did their due diligence until then And then everybody freaked out and then he demanded a trade and instead of trying to just go Hey like you did with Kareem Haunt david a joku and god knows who else were like we ain't trading you Instead of that you decided to give a guaranteed contract to an albatross

Who nobody wants to see coming up on Sunday Instead of just trying to either a bring in a veteran and having compete or be trying to work it out In your lesson either of those situations would have been better is it the guaranteed money that was it because you know We were one of 13 teams I say yeah I say the guaranteed money because it's a plenty emphasis It's always the three first-round picks that hurt worse because you bet on him being better Yeah, that you would carry it over with the three first-round picks and not only was he not better He was the worst in the league. Yeah Yeah, it's it's still something that I can't believe I can't believe he was the Wasn't the same player He was unrecognizable and I think to a lot of people but I don't think do you think that'll happen again like that whole set of circumstances? I don't think so but I do think there might be a scenario where it's buyer beware when it comes to a quarterback that you're trading for I don't think you're gonna have a scenario where you're being accused of terrible things and and you have a team that Might uh We'd have come to the accusations might have looked the other way on some of these things And then they make that team that looked the other way makes you available

And then we jump into it because we can't get a situation figured out with a quarterback who definitely was immature And crazy in his own right and had way too many rabbit-y rabbit ears going on like we I would have much rather worked it on The job that we had and what we have right now, but in the future Ken would Ken Carmen have ever supported Moving on from Jared Goff to Matt Stafford. I think under this you'd say well, we learned our lesson We would do that Matt Stafford had a history. I'm glad you brought this up Matt Stafford was a veteran Matt Stafford didn't have any of the things around him I don't try I trust Detroit more than I trust you said I bet you a lot of people would be like come on We're going to the playoffs. We're not moving on from from Jared Goff we went to the Super Bowl Oh, it would it was a risky move. I think a bunch of people would say we learned our lesson from DeShaw We're not doing that and I'd be like no, it's still going to happen You know what and and if we ever find ourselves in this situation you're gonna have to remind me because I bet there's good and bad But I didn't think that the the Sean Watson situation was gonna work out and I the granite I've He was nice in 2016 everything else. I always questioned and and the fighting is okay

I've got to pull up here those the vaunted the vaunted quarterback tears the sandoteers Of for three of those years people had DeShaw Watson on the same plane if not higher in some of those given years the Matt Stafford Yeah, and somehow you need hope that he wakes up wakes up those echoes coming up here in four days. Yeah good luck Yeah, four days two and six four seven four to below 92 We got Zach coming up at seven 20. Can I bring John in when we start the next segment? Can I do that Sokay with you on Because it worked for Chase the lottery It worked for Travis Bazzana maybe we can get it work for somebody else here especially Tanner bibi can't calm and Anthony Lyman live in the You Will we see tailing green in this game on Sunday? How long will we see DeShaw Watson start for this football team for the Cleveland Browns? Zach Jackson's gonna answer these questions and more will Shadore Sanders make that to Sean Watson actually remember to go out for the coin toss

Unlike Shadore Sanders will be able to pull that off as the captain this week Let's bring in Zach Jackson He's on the wise heart right we make a right coca right hotline. He's from the athletic fall month Twitter out at Akron Jackson. Hello Zach Good morning gentlemen. What are we talking about today? We're talking about the Browns Uh, well that I don't know we just got into a whole fight about the major league baseball schedule, but I don't think you care about that Um, how long do you see DeShaw Watson actually starting for the Browns this year? Um, I put the over under a ten and a half quarters So um now if he makes it to the over then he probably makes it through the first month Because it'd be hard on that short week But I just I just don't know What what what anybody sees in this and I don't know anybody outside the building That that sees what they see. I mean we've seen this guy play We know what it looks like Hear the coach say body of work and we know his body of work Bad so how two years later could it be any better? Well, you had me at first where you said ten and a half and I thought games and then you said quarter is what that's

That's the exact we love minutes Um Yeah, I imagine it's got to be a quick hook. I mean that that game against Buffalo and I mean we did have a couple of callers Well, he's playing with third teamers go. Yeah, he's playing against third teamers And he's supposed to be a franchise guy like I'm sorry if you if you drop Tom Brady in there At 30 years old against a bunch of third teamers. He probably would have pieced up a bunch of third teamers Yeah, that that's a tough one And we know the circumstances that day and he clearly came out and admitted he wasn't right But how is that different then way back that day and into 2022 and Houston when kezys piansky had to come out and say just forget that one There was so much going on. It was nearly within his own head. It didn't happen. Well, what followed that Bad play Bad play. Yeah Well, then I guess we can just close the book on him Well, no honestly, so what happens like What would they do? All right say he goes out there like I got I got to prepare for the worst first when it comes to him

And then we can try to be more positive with some others Like say he only makes it eight quarters And he gets made the backup. Do they come to some sort of an agreement with him or something like that And we never see him again or is he just stayed the backup and we move on about the season Yeah, I mean you would think logic would dictate it when he's out Right because he shouldn't be in the future plans. I don't know. It's hard to get into hypotheticals And honestly both in fairness and in reality like it's hard to get into hypotheticals here There wasn't a day That this offense in an open practice had everybody and was going right they had one time for two hours against Buffalo starters It's a new coach The juice comes from the new receiver so we know or talented and we haven't seen them go against NSO ones And we haven't seen them get skimmed against But they can play they can help this guy like Harold Shannon he can really help this guy. So You know what let's see how it goes I just I think there's a real ceiling on it and then you wonder how he mentally reacts to the very first thing that goes wrong

And so I expect the game plan that that keeps him out of harm's way as much as possible For as long as possible, but how does he react and how does the team react To the first thing that goes wrong. I mean They are they're nine point underdogs this week and six and a half point underdogs next week I mean by NFL standards. That's pretty strong. They're they're not expected to perform well and if they don't You know, we know what could be coming We don't know how it's going to go, but we haven't seen any of this and goofy things happen And early in NSL season we saw that just last year we see that every year, right? So um I'm a little bit open-minded and not making firm predictions But I just there's nothing that I've seen For the last six weeks or for four years. It tells me that this has any hope Well, Zach we did kind of catch win towards the end of the available practices for media that the RPO stuff was A little more of an emphasis you weren't gonna really do that with Shedore It's comical because he's not even fast and where he doesn't have one skill that challenges NSL defenses

But yeah, you're right that that's probably what they're gonna do And really tied hinted throughout the whole spring that experience and mobility had given lots in the edge He outright said that a couple of times He danced around it a few other times. So we probably are gonna see that but that to me is just comical Well, that's what I'm asking um the way that you see team specially first quarter of the year We saw you know Daniel Jones and what Indy was able to do can you can you gimmick things up to an extent because The fight thing is the minute you got to shone lots and even before the injuries ravaged him in the surgeries they weren't really instituting a lot of that stuff that I thought at times you know He was able to get out and move and Houston that just didn't seem to be a part of the part of the the offensive format with Kevin Stofanski So it seemed like Todd Thought even post surgery. They maybe we can do some of that Yeah, I mean kendorcy had come in thrown sideways passes right and didn't work

Now they didn't have judge kendorcy didn't have fan and they didn't so yes and theory But to your point remember that game in Jacksonville two years ago. They scored in the first drive. He ran it in Normally touchdowns. They got the rest of the game one zero So yeah, no, like I said, I I expect Judd kendor and concept the own To get a bunch of touches I do think when I when I think about the shone's body of work from the summer I think he had success finding Harold fanden Over the middle and Harold fanden was was limited through camp to have him ready for this In the joint practice It did throw two passes down the field that for big completions now and all the other practices There were two more but there was two that day and that was the most important and most competitive setting So maybe but I just I don't hold out a lot of optimism Zach bigger mayfield just signed that extension yesterday There's been a lot of revisionist history over the last four going on five years of Baker mayfield

What was your do you remember your original thoughts back in 20? I remember we had you on the day after that Pittsburgh game at night What I told you he was never gonna be in the building Yeah, and so it's you said and damn it you were right you were right about that one I mean what how would you handle do you remember what you said and do you think that you would change how you would handle it If you said it any different than how it went or what do you got yeah? Yeah, I mean, I think both sides have regrets, but I think it got toxic guys And I think two things happen. I think the Browns correctly judged that Baker mayfield was never gonna be that a list Put a franchise on its back and go to February quarterback Right, and I think that They had done all this research and they knew that the Quarterbacks don't become available unless you draft them real high or you have some lightning strike And they saw this window with Watson and they decided to go for it And they they paid the price and other teams weren't willing to pay and so they went for it and obviously it's missed historically and it's tossed all sorts of things So You know, I actually even before the extension came out last night guys because I was getting ready for this and the next week

I was looking at Baker stats like he's he's kind of been the same quarterback there are two up years his rookie year and in 24 or two down years the injury year and the transition year You know, he his numbers are the same his results Are the same and and he has had a successful on a fell career. He just got near and he'd another hundred sixty million dollars right But like he's he's been the same guy and they decided it wasn't going to work here in Baker his admitted that he was not going to Do what he did for two years in Tampa two plus years before got kind of bad last year for first stretch The he needed to grow up and so they moved on and the Browns just made the worst decision And moving on do you guys know what his record was in in Cleveland? I was I was closing myself on the last night and I just missed by a couple Was he 500 He was one game under 500 he was 29 and 30 And he was staggering about that as it in four years he started 59 games and in four years watching the start in 18 games

Boy, that's some Well Damn it. I almost forgot what I was obviously thinking about this. So I almost forgot what I was going to ask you Is there a lesson that can be learned by the Browns here or if you were in charge of the Browns Would you still do the same thing and give all that up for what you believe is a card? I mean do the lesson learned I that that's a heck of a question and they would have to answer that and You know last last year and in 25 they came out and told us they were on a quarterback search Can they they publicized where they were they said this was a swing in a miss and that wasn't a hot take it was a fact And they delivered a third round quarterback who's actually a seventh round quarterback and a fifth round quarterback Who's actually a fifth round quarterback and they have the same guy back on the field So what if they learned we key and answer that now what how does the whole thing apply to the future? That's that's what's interesting and That's why I'm watching guys now like Darian meant up and turn it at Jamblis who are going into college and you know Baker going into his last year was not considered a number one pick and he was small

He was a little bit of a wild card and so we'll see You know that the 90 per the 85 is percent result of this is the browser drafting a quarterback high And then what becomes fascinating over the next few months and then six and seven is like it doesn't have to be a top three quarterback And and especially if your team is in a position where the other guys and the other position groups really are good and really are You know, maybe there is an opportunity where someone becomes available. So I think before Baker signed it yesterday There's 11 guys 11 or 12 guys who are going to start this weekend Who are eligible for free agency in some regard next year Now obviously if their good teams don't let them go And in one of them is to show our watch and one of them's Bryce Young You know, but like one of these resolutions gonna be and who's gonna get these contracts and who it is gonna be available I don't know so We're probably headed for that high first round quarterback and then maybe you got to give up this abundance of picks, but we don't know

How we made your mother is a rewatch podcast that looks back episode by episode at the hit TV show how I met your mother It's hosted by me Josh Radner along with series co-creator Craig Thomas in seasons one and two We were joined by Neil Patrick Harris co-be smolders Brian Cranston Ashley Williams Wayne Brady Jennifer Siren Angela Kinsey Joe Manganello and my brilliant co-creator Carter Bayes and now we are diving into season three So whether it's your 50th rewatch or your first time through follow how we made your mother wherever you get your podcasts What I mean it's it's pretty certain that they're headed for for a quarterback search Hey real quick re-u is impressed with Dante more on Saturday as I was I I barely saw any of Dante Um, I'm for tonight. I am impressed with him. I think you made the right decision to come back to school But I asked you got what you guys were talking about because this morning I was listening in eight times and then brewer talk quarterbacks like I know it's still September 10th, but I'm all in baby That's our that's our exact Jackson go ahead there, Tony. Yeah, what about the tailing green and the coach keeping it open right now as far as

The speculation on whether or not he'll be active on game day and what it means for Shedore Yeah, that was the smart answer coaches obsess over giving the opponent little things to worry about that goes back to Eric Mangini I think that Shedore will be the number two You know, I think that if tailing is active it will be an active situation and not Shedore being down is the number three But I don't know and we have to wonder and even if Jacksonville prepares for it They wouldn't know exactly what to prepare for because we saw so little but I mean tailing green got one half of a preseason game and one series in the joint practice and other than that There was only one or two days where he got any competitive reps at all So it would be awfully bold to put him in a situation to where he might have to quarterback and then a fel game on Sunday And if you make him the two and Sanders the three you can't do that so that just to me Is there risk not worth taking now if everybody's healthy and they feel like they have special teams back ups and they feel like it's a real package that they need And sure, but I think that's probably a back season thing and he was just answering the question in the way that he should for strategic reasons

Well the rest of the roster for game day. I mean we we pour into this every single year We talk about special teams. What is your prediction? You I know you tend to get these things right when it comes to how top-munkans gonna formulate the roster Yeah, I'm interested because it's a new staff, you know So last year we kind of knew who who the core special teams guys were and I don't think all 53 are perfectly healthy But like everybody is going to be available on Sunday unless there's been a setback over the last week, right? So The backups the guy they want to be the backup center hasn't played he missed the whole preseason with an injury to a snapping hand They have two call ups from the practice clock and under the last coaching staff those were usually when they were healthy Those were usually safeties and linebackers to play on special teams But this is a new coaching staff so we don't know so Concept the owns gonna be the punt return Coralie I think it's gonna be one of the kick returners and he's gonna be one of the core special teams guys So he's gonna be active

But like to have 10 offensive linemen You know, I don't think they're gonna dress all those guys. So there's there's little games that you play there and That's something I have a better feel for a few weeks just because it's a new staff Zach can't thank you enough for the does there anything else you wanted to ask him? I'm sorry. Oh, how's they Texas? Oh gosh I'm sorry, yeah, please go ahead Yes, so this is such an important game because you know last year it was Julian Sains first start and it was arches first big start And it was ugly so now you're getting the same guys to from an NFL evaluation standpoint And it's not the first game of the year, which is just better for everybody better for the teams better for the viewers better for the scouts So yeah, so I you know, it's probably the little past my bedtime, especially late for a big ballgame But this is an interesting one And you know everybody you listen to anything It's arching more and then there's a tear break as of right now. So This is a great test and it's not the only test for Texas

But this is a great test. You know how state lost all that front line talent But they still have an NFL coordinator and they still have plenty of talent Texas is upgraded. It's offense is talent Either guy Kim Coleman could very well be the second receiver off the board after Jeremiah Smith And they have Wingo they brought in two backs Like they're loaded. So this is going to be really good and it's going to be really important game in terms of You know where guys stand when when the quarterback rankings are become your main topic a conversation here in about five or six weeks Main topic in five or six weeks You have not paid attention to the graphic that's been on YouTube sack Much just a watch list though. Oh, I know you You got to embrace it. You got to embrace what's being said. I'm just so hard, isn't it? Yeah, it is Zack. Thank you so much for the time. I appreciate you and yours. Give no one my best take care Thanks guys goodbye Zach Jackson on the wise heart right we make it right call call right hotline outstanding stuff from him And I think that you might have just crystallized it there

He might have just crystallized it there if you're wondering why fans aren't that into it Zack said it and it really has nothing to do with history. It's about the right now you know it He knows it. He's the one who set it out loud and you're gonna agree you'll hear about that in five on the fan What we see tailing green in this game on Sunday How long will we see Deshion Watson start for this football team for the Cleveland Browns? Zach Jackson's gonna answer these questions and more will should or Sanders Make that to Sean Watson actually remember to go out for the coin toss unlike should or Sanders Will be able to pull that off as the captain this week Let's bring in Zach Jackson. He's on the wise heart right we make it right call call right hotline He's from the athletic fall month twitter ad actron Jackson. Hello, Zach Good morning gentlemen. What are we talking about today? You were right about that one I mean what how would you handle do you remember what you said and do you think that you would change how you would handle it

If you set it any different than how it went or what do you got yeah? Yeah, I mean I think both sides have regrets, but I think it got toxic guys And I think two things happen I think the browns correctly judged that Baker may feel was never gonna be that a list put a franchise on its back and go to February quarterback Right and I think For years gone south has been a podcast about crime in the American south but for our new season we're widening the lens Through deeply reported narrative driven stories We're digging into the myths scandals and power structures that still shape the south and in a lot of ways the country itself Follow and listen to gone south season five an Odyssey podcast available now on Apple podcasts Spotify or wherever you get your shows That they had done all this research and they knew that the Quarterbacks don't become available unless you draft them real high or you have some lightning strike And they saw this window with Watson and they decided to go for it and they paid the price and other teams

weren't willing to pay and so they went for it and obviously it's missed historically and it's cost all sorts of things So You know, I actually even before the extension came out last night guys because I was getting ready for this and for the next week I was looking at Baker stats like he's he's kind of been the same quarterback there are two up years his rookie year and in 24 Erie two down years the injury year and the transition year You know he his numbers are the same his results are the same and and he has had a successful on a full career He just got guaranteed another hundred sixty million dollars, right um But like he's he's been the same guy and they decided it wasn't going to work here in Baker his admitted that he was not going to Do what he did for two years in Tampa two plus years before got kind of bad last year for first stretch The he needed to grow up and so they moved on and the Browns just made the worst decision And moving on do you guys know what his record was in in Cleveland? I was I was quizzing myself on it last night and I just missed by a couple

Was he 500 He was one game under 500 he was 29 and 30 And he was staggering about that is it in four years he started 59 games and in four years watching the start in 18 games Boy, that's some Well Damn it. I almost forgot what I was obviously thinking about this so I almost forgot what I was going to ask you Is there a lesson that can be learned by the Browns here or if you were in charge The Browns would you still do the same thing and give all that up for what you believe is a car? I mean view the lesson learned I that that's a heck of a question and they would have to answer that and You know last year and in 25 they came out and told us they were on a quarterback search Can they they publicized where they were they said this was a swing in the miss and that wasn't a hot take it was a fact And they delivered a third round quarterback who's actually a seventh round quarterback and a fifth round quarterback And they had the same guy back on the field So what have they learned we key and answer that now what how does the whole thing apply to the future?

That's that's what's interesting And that's why I'm watching guys now like Darian meant so and turn it at Jamblest who are going into college and you know Baker going into his last year was not considered a number one pick and he was small He was a little bit of a wild card and so we'll see You know that the 90 per the 85 is percent result of this is the browser drafting a quarterback high And then what becomes fascinating over the next few months and then six and seven is like it doesn't have to be a top three quarterback And especially if your team is in a position where the other guys and the other position groups really are good and really are ascending You know, maybe there is an opportunity where someone becomes available. So I think before Baker signed it yesterday There's 11 guys 11 or 12 guys who are going to start this weekend Who are eligible for free agency and some regard next year Now obviously if they're good teams don't let them go And in one of them is to show our watch and one of them's Bryce young You know, but like one of these resolutions gonna be and who's gonna get these contracts and who it is gonna be available

I don't know so We're probably headed for that high first round quarterback and then maybe you got to give up this abundance of picks But we don't know, but I mean it's it's pretty certain that they're headed for for a quarterback search Hey real quick re you as impressed with Dante more on Saturday as I was I I Barely saw any of Dante Um, I am impressed with him. I think you made the right decision to come back to school But I asked you guys what you guys were talking about because this morning I was listening to Nate Tyson the enbrewer talk quarterbacks like I know it's still September 10th, but I'm all in baby Okay That's our that's our exact Jackson go ahead there, Tony. Yeah, what about the tailing green and the coach keeping it open right now as far as the speculation on whether or not he'll be active on game day and what it means for Shador yeah That was the smart answer Coaches obsess over giving the opponent little things to worry about that goes back to Eric Mangini I think that Shador will be the number two

You know, I think that if tailing is active it will be an active situation and not Shador being down is the number three But I don't know and we have to wonder and even if Jacksonville prepares for it They wouldn't know exactly what to prepare for because we saw so little but I mean tailing green got one half of a preseason game and one series in the joint practice and other than that There was only one or two days where he got any competitive reps at all So it would be awfully bold to put him in a situation to where he might have to quarterback and then a fel game On Sunday and if you make him the two and Sanders the three you can't do that so that just to me Is there risk not worth taking now if everybody's healthy and they feel like they have special teams back ups and they feel like it's a real package that they need ensure but I think that's probably a back season saying and he was just answering the question in the way that he should for strategic reasons The rest of the roster for game day. I mean we we pour into this every single year we talk about special teams What is your prediction?

You I know you tend to get these things right when it comes to how top-munkens gonna formulate the roster Yeah, I'm interested because it's a new staff You know, so last year we kind of knew who who the course special teams guys were and I don't think all 53 are perfectly healthy But like everybody is going to be available on Sunday unless there's been a setback over the last week, right? So um The backups the guy they want to be the backup center hasn't played he missed the whole preseason with an injury to his snapping hand um, they have two call-ups from the practice clock and under the last coaching staff those were usually usually when they were healthy those were usually Safety's in linebackers to play on special teams, but this is a new coaching staff so we don't know so Concepts the owns gonna be the punt return Coralie I think is gonna be one of the kick returners and he's gonna be one of the core special teams guys So he's gonna be active But like to have 10 offensive linemen I you know, I don't think they're gonna dress all those guys. So there's there's little games that you play there and That's something I have a better fuel for a few weeks just because it's a new staff

Zach can't thank you enough for the does there anything else you wanted to ask him? I'm sorry. Oh, how's they Texas? Oh, gosh I'm sorry, yeah, please go ahead Yes, so this is such an important game because you know last year It was Julian Sains first start and it was Arches first big start and it was ugly So now you're getting the same guys to from an NFL evaluation standpoint And it's not the first game of the year, which is just better for everybody better for the teams better for the viewers better for the scouts So yeah, so I you know, it's probably the little past my bedtime, especially late for a big ball game But this is an interesting one And you know everybody you listen to anything It's arching more and then there's a tear break as of right now so This is a great test and it's not the only test for Texas, but this is a great test You know how state lost all that front line talent, but they still have an NFL coordinator and they still have plenty of talent Texas is upgraded. It's offense is talent Here their guy Kim Coleman could very well be the second receiver off the board after Jeremiah Smith

They have winged out they brought in two backs Like they're loaded. So this is going to be really good and it's going to be really important game in terms of You know where guys stand when when the quarterback rankings are become your main topic a conversation here in about five or six weeks Main topic in five or six weeks You have not paid attention to the graphic that's been on YouTube, Zach Might just watch list though. Oh, no, you got to embrace it. You got to embrace what's being said It's so hard, isn't it? Yeah, it is Zach. Thank you so much for the time. I appreciate you in yours. Give Noah my best take care Thanks guys goodbye Zach Jackson on the wise heart right we make it right call call right hotline outstanding stuff from him And I think that you might have just crystallized it there He might have just crystallized it there if you're wondering why fans aren't that into it Zach said it and it really has nothing to do with history. It's about the right now You know it he knows it. He's the one who set it out loud and you're gonna agree

You'll hear about that in five on the fan Zach we did kind of catch win towards the end of the available practices for media that the RPO stuff was a little more of an emphasis You're gonna really do that with your Which is comical because he's mad even better where he doesn't have one skill that challenges NFL thesis But yeah, you're right that's probably what they're gonna do and really tied hinted throughout the whole spring The experience and mobility had given lots in the edge He outright said that a couple of times He danced around it a few other times so we probably aren't gonna see that but it To get to me is just kind of cool. It's one thing for us to say it. It's another thing for Zach to say it That's why that's why this is probably is down About a regular season and as I've seen people ever in 15 years on the fan Easily the biggest one since since 2017 2017 I think it's like well how much worse could what how much worse can a one in 15 team be found out they could be worse

Uh This is easily the most down and out I've felt and it's it's because of that I know that there's a lot of nastiness that comes with DeShon Watts and about all the history and everything there But that crystallizes it because I mean you've had guys accused of bad things before that have played in the NFL And they're their fans of line right up and went into those stadiums and we said boo to a goose about it And if he had any redeeming qualities on the field anymore for fans I think that people would maybe feel a little bit different like I've had some people try to get in over the last week Like I really thought by this week and maybe it will be that way That the worm will turn and that people really want us to talk them into the season Because we are the home of Super Bowl Super Browns even though that was born out of sarcasm and cynicism whenever they were one in 15 I think some people were kind of waiting last year for us to really get them going And I fought it off fought it off

And then I'm going against me As far as predictions are concerned You said you heard some of the afternoon show saying everybody in Cleveland's trying to Should cope to Sean Watts or something like that. Is that what you heard? I was very confused because because Zachson Cleveland and that I Sugarcoated a damn thing and Zach was he would one skill the challenges in a film he said Zach was even more sour than I could ever be Yeah, I haven't exactly heard people lining up to talk like this is going to go really well um Obviously if if like should or was starting I think there'd be more hope But I don't think people would be lining up predicting playoffs or anything with should or either So I think this notion that hey one is way up here and one is way down there like I think that's just kind of I just think one of them though gives them a sense like I've listened to Nick and Jonathan I've listened to some other folks here at the station and I I totally get where some even the ones that are detractors Of should or seem to be coming off like there is again there I use the word curiosity

It's just it feels a little bit different and it might not end up being good in the end But it's still a better feeling than than this Then the constant reminders of what could have been I mean even yesterday the Baker may field extension get happens And it's like you start to remember things and how it wasn't like man How we have not lost our mind like I and I went through that with you last hour And I'll need to do it again But I think what Zach really did was just crystallize it to that's why Because you've watched him you've seen him in training camp As much as I hate that stupid QB tracker that goes around the internet that coaches do not use Clearly they don't or he would be the starting quarterback should or would be But people see that think that Should or should be the guy not to Sean Watson. They like should or more anyway I look like he had a better preseason because the last time we saw to Sean Watson He was absolutely deplorable out there in the field and then when sex like he has nothing that challenges and NFL defense anymore You went from MVP caliber To nothing that challenges a NFL defense anymore

and It feels like Brown's fans are in reality That they can't believe the coaching staff is an in reality. Yeah, why is he starting exactly? That's act just described you go what I'm saying How is he starting and if it were honestly like if John Harball had come to Cleveland Think about this you have a first year head coach She's a six-year-old man and I like the guy a lot Okay, but he's a first-year head coach had John Harball come to Cleveland I went the Sean Watson's a starter you think we're going to hear all these sentences like that would zack Just said about the Sean Watson if John Harball was a start was the head coach of the football team Now I think there would be some detractors. They said he got fired by the Ravens If Mike Tomlin were the head coach of the Browns if he had left Pittsburgh and he came to head coach If Bella check came if anybody with a reputation for success Which Todd Munkand has ever reputation as a of success as an assistant But if anybody had a a Standard reputation if this is a successful football coach Is the guy who's one games at a high level before I throw him a carthian there even

He's one of Super Bowl. He's won a lot of football games I know he looks like a sourpuss, but he is a successful football coach If one of those guys were to say it you might feel a little bit different But because it is a first-year guy You're going what is what are they seeing what oh I can't they see the truth look at this This is this is a scared man. This is a man who's afraid of of any pressure that's at him He doesn't know how to do it anymore. He can't check through a progression He's his feet have gotten sloppy or in sloppy over time. It's exactly what zex says go what are we doing wasting our time here? And so I think it's become zex says 10 and a half quarters. I think for some fans it's become wishful thinking Let's just end this charade as soon as we possibly can and then we'll get the shedore in tailing green And by that time maybe Dylan Gabriel be back and we can just Go on about our season. Let's just everybody think Todd munkin is picking the wrong quarterback like on purpose No, is that when everybody it we're all in the same boat. We're all listening to what Zach is saying and he's been pretty

Consistent and we're all like well, then how is he starting? Okay, Todd munkin came in and is like yep This is our starting quarterback. It's either a and I go back to what Todd was kind of telling us yesterday It's either a That he really does believe to Sean Watson has something in there that he can still get out which Boy, that seems to be separate from reality there for a lot of fans or B and I hope it's this way That the guy who's the second year quarterback just isn't ready to hit the field with his offense yet Just like the callers have been saying the offensive lines new you got five new offensive lineman out there You got two rookie wide receivers, etc etc like that's That's what I hope is more the truth That it's not that Watson might be the best It's at the other guy just in his eyes Isn't ready yet and needs to be ready here sooner than later 10 and a half quarters Lord almighty 216474 to below 92 coming up a little bit later on at 845

Hey there. It's Jill's messenger. I'm launching a brand new show. It's called money moves follow and listen wherever you get your podcasts Lime and I are gonna get in the fight of all fights because it happened last night because I I'll tell you what I don't hate Michigan But I know why even those who hate Ohio state hate Michigan and I think that that was crystallized itself in these last 48 hours Coming up in five minutes. We go around the FC North Wyman Eger Mueller Baltimore Cincinnati Pittsburgh week one Around the FC North in five minutes on Oh Them yes appear on the Y's art right we make a right call Kyle right hotline We got three of them right now. Let's start off in Baltimore with the very first one It's Ken Wyman 105 seven the fan of Baltimore as the Ravens get ready to head to Indianapolis to take on the Colts and Ken That young Unproven offensive line Is it gonna be a concern for Lamar Jackson and the rest of those weapons that the Ravens have

Well, yeah, I think we're concerned obviously Joe von Gwynn. I think has 11 snaps to his credit before he starts the game on Sunday He beat Al Ys and Postic because and you guys know him, but I don't think he's completely healthy and frankly I don't know that he's the right fit for this line But you've got him at center and then venga Lone who I think is gonna be really good, but again, he's a rookie But it's gotta be better guys. It's gotta be better than last year when fall a lay and Injurvor he's where at guard and they were both just awful So I know they lose lender bound But the center could just be okay The guards are gonna be so much better than they were a year ago that I think it's going to be in that positive But it's one of these weird things where because nobody plays during the preseason We're not gonna really know for sure until they get it going for real on Sunday Obviously the coaching staff change has probably been a hot topic for you guys Is anybody worried about the loss of Todd Munkin? Worried no because and I love Monk

Talking trash about the monkey man. I'm telling him. Yeah, I'm a big monkey I think that the whole thing got stale and most of that is harbs related John harboh But I'll miss him. I love his press conferences Give us a lot of stuff to talk about every week. So you guys get to have multiple times a week now. I'm jealous But um, I think we're more Excited about what dekland doils going to bring there's a lot of it's interesting There's a lot of excitement about dekland oil and a lot of excitement frankly about if you mentor running the defense So it's more excitement and concern Are you expecting any kind of a drop off from Derek Henry going into your number 11 and age 32 or do you expect another gigantic year out of the tailback? I think he's a unicorn every year You know we talked about the wheels are gonna come off and then only does this finish second legan rushing So until he shows me there's gonna be a drop off. I'm not expecting it

I know I talked a lot of people last year who expected it and he got off to a slow start in park of the line Just stunk and then again, he finished second legan rushing. So I think he's unique. He's one of one I kind of lebronish in the way he takes care of his body So uh, no, I'm not expecting it. It's obviously it comes for everybody more calorie is always Looming but no, I expect him especially with Lamar looking healthy. I expect there are canary to have a big year With new ed coach Jesse mentor again, there's no uh, there's no honeymoon There's high expectations is there also the expectation and officially in that's plagued him over the last couple of years I don't think it's as much last year as it was certainly the year before the late game Collapses defensively oh It did can it happen last year week one and buffalo Like after those I just in my memory obviously I'm not paying attention as close to the Ravens as they am the Browns I know it happened week one. I'm bomb like it didn't happen with the same frequency last year's it did the year before did it

I might be wrong. I might be wrong No, not not with the same frequency because frankly they weren't good But that same week one and buffalo Basically sent to season sideways and I think it's been a it's been a mantra for Jesse mentor be your best when your best is needed and that's You know, that's referring in part to those fourth quarter collapses and yes, I think the new coaching staff A lot of fans are going to be paying attention in the fourth quarter when they have a lead to see if they can close out games Because they couldn't the basically under john harball the last few years They had trouble closing games in the fourth quarter. Who's one in the Super Bowl this year? Is it chalky to say the Rams I like you're not to say it. You don't I mean who cares if it's chalk I just I they seem to have an embarrassment of riches. So I'm going to go Rams They're like they added Miles Garrett and brought Aaron Donald back and the MVP is a quarterback Obviously injuries can factor in but assuming health. I'm I'm gonna say ramps

Will you tune into tomorrow night's game just because it's in australia I'm gonna tune in tomorrow night's games as dmfl and I and I don't have to watch the Orioles who stink because they're often Can't why I'm in one of five seven the fan in Baltimore We got a sense and Addy as they get ready to host the Tampa Bay bucket ears toad 1 pm not a pay course stadium We welcome in Moeager ESPN 15 30 and sense and Addy all right What type of challenge does Baker present for that defense that As you said Moe can't be any worse. So it must be better Yeah, it's gonna be at least a little bit better right? I've got to tackle a little bit better I think if the Bengals pass rush is what we've seen all throughout training camp then the Baker Mayfield threat is minimized If that pass rush that we saw in training camp proves to be a mirage And then I think he's he's a problem look. It's it's a Cincinnati second area where there's still a lot of questions DJ Turner is an ascending star and they did go get Brian Cook

But one of their two safeties Jordan battle last year was a bismill and he's gonna be in a starting role this season Dax Hill on the outside missed a lot of camp. I think there's still legitimate questions about how stable an outside corner He's going to be and as we've talked about all off. He's along for all the work the Bengals did on their team and on their defense They left linebacker alone and that was arguably the worst position group they had last year And so I need to see improvement from those guys at that position before I believe that any quarterback is in the threat A few of the hot seat lists Obviously reflecting the Zack Taylor is indeed Ingepity if things go south is that something people are monitoring right from the get go or You're not too worried about it right now I would find it Hard to believe the Bengals would make an in season change. It just Look, they've done a lot of things that are completely out of character for this organization and in its history The Bengals have made one in season change before in 2003 or in 2000 when they fired Bruce Coslett replaced him with thick Lebo

I think at the very least that Taylor's gonna be given a chance to get through the season I wholeheartedly believe that if this team is on the outside looking in for a fourth consecutive year Not making the postseason they will have a new head coach, but I would Of the things that they have done that have been shocking. I would move making an in season change with the head coach at the top of the list How much better is Shamar Stewart gonna be this year Well, it's hard to tell because he didn't go through training camp right he got injured on the first day And he is back and he is practicing and he is on the 53 But I you know his working season was a wash And I'm fearful that year two has a very good chance to be a wash just because I don't know if there's anybody on the team Who needed to practice reps and needed pre-ceasing games more than Shamar Stewart and he didn't get any I know they're really high on him and in the brief winter since we had a chance to see from him in training camp last year

He certainly showed promise, but that was a training camp setting last summer That was a long time ago. We haven't seen it in games and so But there's a lot of hope for what the Bengals might do on the defensive line But anybody who talks about that group usually doesn't include Shamar Stewart's name. Who's winning the Super Bowl? You know, I think the Seahawks are like the most slept on Super Bowl champ ever Uh, I don't see a huge weakness. Obviously boy a mafia is now in Cincinnati Kenneth Walker is now in Kansas City You know nobody views sand d'Arnold as an absolute upper cross quarterback But for all the talk the Rams are getting Seattle beat him twice in games that counted Uh, as slept on Super Bowl champ to me is dangerous Maybe I'll change my mind by about 11 30 tonight, but I but I like Seattle That is Moegger ESPN 15 30 in Cincinnati as they get ready to take on the Tampa Bay Bucking Ears Who come to town down in Cincinnati at 1 p.m

And this is Moegger now or though this is Chris Muller now From 93 seven the fan in Pittsburgh as they get ready to host the Atlanta Falkens at 1 p.m. On Sunday DK Metcalf is the crazy person now Apparently I must can you believe that there are in fact other civilizations living inside the earth and that every president and world leader Has gone down to Antarctica to possibly meet them talk with them Make deals with them. Yeah, if you believe that then he's just talking sense Okay Obviously this has been unique for you guys in your position to talk Steelers and not have mic Tomlin to kick around any longer. He's making some interesting comments as well In his new media career with all that said is there an excitement level of surrounding his replacement from fans So before I answer that can I ask you guys just sort of fluently? Are you as surprised as I was that apparently the minecraft thing is legit and the guy who's like Mr

Intensity and football guy was just going home and mindlessly building like this gigantic mega city in that game No, you went through me for a new wind you have to unwind somehow and there's worse ways for professional football coaches to unwind What my kids play minecraft my kids play minecraft And I just I play video games grown up. I'll still mess around with something on the switch or whatever But like I don't understand the appeal of that one. It's just I don't know No idea is mine Mean it's more productive than what Terry Cruz does when he's in front of a computer all mine is minecraft is Minecraft the one I don't understand is minecraft the one where they make the character and they jump around all over the place Yeah, and like the blocks look like the graphics look like it's from you know 1996, but that's what everybody super into yeah, they just build and build and build I don't my kids play it. I don't get it man. Like I that one does not under you know, it doesn't make sense Give me grand theft auto six or whatever my one had Nick Chubb as a character And the other one had Jamar Chase as a character You can do that kind of

I guess that's kind of cool. They're they're mixing they're mixing things we are into with building, but whatever I'll answer the question now I actually do think that there is some excitement like I'll even admit They're gonna look different. They're gonna be different like I think different just for its own sake is something that's interesting especially when you're the single franchise in all of pro sports that changes the with the least frequency like You say kick around tone, but like that is kind of what would happen like it was always what is the angle here? Whether it was fair or not a lot of times it was a lot of the times it wasn't What is the angle here that comes back somehow to Mike Tomlin and how he is responsible for whatever is Going on and so knowing that the offense is gonna look different and that the guy was head coach now cares way more about that and way more about the quarterback That's interesting and I might be in the minority in Pittsburgh, but I'm way more intrigued by how a different defensive coordinator and a different mind on that side of the ball Actually impacts what still is a pretty like name studded roster on that side

You know when you talk about names What is somebody we had been comparing contrasting to miles cared for years and then last year it was just a stark difference about miles went Into a record setting mode and TJ seemed to go backwards Are you anticipating that he can regain his terrific play or are you worried about the future? I think the best argument for him regaining his high level of play or getting closer to where he used to be is That Patrick Graham that new defensive coordinator. I mentioned According to what at least is going to force him to move around on the formation and what basically said early in camp like I'm I can't tell them I don't want to do it like the new scheme just forces me to do stuff Because what was the guy who just says let me line up at right against the right tackle and that's what I want to do That happened pretty early in his pro career and Mike Tomlin whose I think philosophy can best be described as Turn your guys loose to do what you think they do best especially your best players

He never challenged what on that I think moving them around could create better and different looks I will say I do think his days physically of just being a dominant beast who wins because he's better than the guy across from him are done I think Garrett's kind of you know your alpha and omega edge russia and will Anderson's probably the next guy coming for that spot But to me what was always a a speed rusher more than he was anything else And I think when you lose even a small twitch Off of that first step then you're going to become easier to block And I do think that's what's happened to him over the last I would say two years It started to really take place has there been much conversation with you and pony about the tendencies of kevin's defanski in being ready for them at all Uh not yet because we've mostly been laughing at the fact that it's going to be two uh We had Brian thinner and on you remember him from the early nine or late nighties early Falken Big tall receiver and he based just straight up asked him out what's the mood like in Atlanta because two is the starter

He would get evenly send the word somber how many NFL fan bases do you really go into week one hopes freezer turtle Yeah, our fans are pretty somber because two on one the job by default because the other guy doesn't think his injuries are ready yet And so he doesn't want to put himself back out there like I think I respect for some fans guy I think he knows how to call offense. Uh, I think there is We didn't make a joke yesterday that if beijon gets it going we can rely on defanski to just Inextricably stop giving him the ball like he would when Nick chub would be gashing the stealers for six yards of pop And then they just wouldn't go to him well Chris That's because we are worried about your dirty players and we didn't want you guys injuring chub oh yeah That happened anyway. Yeah, you did that I uh Well, wait you guys know that I took a lot of flack for saying in the moment that was a dirty hit and frankly that hit That hit still bumps me out the I think Nick chub is in like the god tier of favorite players who played for different teams than the Steelers He was he was a hall of famer and waiting if he stayed healthy anyway Um, I just think most dealers fans the only thing that people are trying to reconcile here is we know stavanski knows offense

We know to a stinks like really stinks and we can't figure out why it's only a three and a half points spread And when the people we've had on from Atlanta are sort of echoing the same thoughts like yeah this guy's parable It does make you a little leery of that that line All right, thank you very much for the time Chris. Oh who's gonna win the circle Ah rams over Bengals how about that all right. Thank you That is Chris Muller and that is around the fc north thanks to Chris 93 seven the fan in Pittsburgh Moeger ESPN 15 30 and since and Andy Kenwime at 105 seven the fan in Baltimore little bit of guardians news and Why would you tune in I'll take exactly why you'll tune in line. I think some crazy Ken Carmen Anthony Lyman live in How about that so words part owner of the Cleveland Guardians now yeah More local flavor remember Travis Kelsey

He's part owner of the Cleveland Garden president Travis Kelsey They're all owners so part owners of the Cleveland Guardians. Yeah What actually do you get with the minority state you have to get a return on investment somewhere? The spot Okay, what else do you get by a sweet access? Well, can't you just buy sweet access? You don't have to actually buy into the team This is different Sweet How much is it cost in to get a baseline buy into the Cleveland Guardians? How much you think? 5 million That's it Not two not three It's got to be more than a million you think it is yeah, I don't know It's got to be more than a million But Denzel his career earnings are a hundred million dollars Because like so what's a what what is accountant? What would his financial planner say is a smart investment? I bet it's 10 million bucks Okay, because if you're like that's a lot That's a big if you think if you're a lot of his career earnings think if you were a sponsor

Okay, at least five. Okay, do we want to keep going lower just five let's start with five If you're a corporate sponsor, how much do you spend any year with the Guardians? Oh say seven figures. Okay Good be all right, so are you I'm I just gonna consider them part owners too now We're just talking like that's to get your signage to or just to get out of course. Yeah, you're getting tickets to it It's more than low seven. Yeah, you're getting tickets. You're getting signage. You're getting the whole deal You send out a new employee every first-pitch. Yeah, you get to do it. Yeah to do one of their 240 if you do three per whole game First pitches. Yes You get all those maybe Denzel gets unlimited first pitches You get you get to allocate over time We'll end a bit to buy in to have some sort of like a 1% I have 1% probably high for I mean, they're probably worth a billion dollars The Guardians right yeah, okay, so five million bucks is not one percent of a billion isn't I don't know Someone's got to do the math. I don't know how to do math. No, just all right

I can tell you right away five million is not one percent what is it? Do we know what the first set is? But the numbers would have to be similar for you to be a one. I don't know. Yeah. I know ideas 10 million Okay, so 10 million is one per 10 million is one percent million is half a percent. Okay, so maybe it's 10 million bucks You got to put in to get 1% It's nice nice figure yeah good for a good for a Denzel word. Yeah, this is all about you know blitzer who's not from here Getting just some Local identifiable people obviously Travis Kelsey's famous Denzel's famous in Northeast Ohio So you do that because you're not here You're invested in all these other teams and what does that make it's have on all other real estate properties I don't even know what David blitzer looks like So I can yell like if they start making bad moves like wolf if they start making bet that's honestly when I think of I'm just gonna think I'm yelling at wolf blitzer like they make bad moves and they're somehow even more

Fiscally responsible than what even the guardians are right now, which is a very difficult thing to do but it can be done You know who's gonna get tweeted at when people don't agree with what's happening. It's Denzel. Yeah, Travis No, I was gonna tell her Swift, but that's the Donna Kelsey, but that's the beauty. What am I gonna do? I'm gonna say day Donna and my John After didn't know we can't go after her. She's no, I'm not going after no absolutely not local TV every day can't do that I've seen her on TV a lot. I've met her. I think I was intimidated. Oh, yeah, I think I was intimidated. Yes, I was Actually very intimate a strong confident woman. Yeah, I was very intimidated very scared even Yeah, I Would tell you that I'm not gonna yell at Denzel wards mom about fixing the guardians Unless the cars Moving I might yell out of my moving car, but I'm not gonna yell out of a car that's at a stoplight

I think it with Denzel I can't yell at Denzel. I can't yell at Travis Kelsey. So do you build yourself a well? This is the thing Do you build yourself a buffer? We have a smart woman who understands the hierarchy in guardian's ownership. Yes. Yes. That's not You know John in wickliff. Okay, doesn't pay attention to day and day out of guardian's ownership But John and wickliff is probably a big Denzel war fan. Is he gonna let who Denzel war is and Travis Kelsey is and he doesn't know who Wolf Yeah, that's true, but is he going to is John and wickliff going to give Denzel war to piece of his mind at a High school football gamer I'm more likely to see Denzel warden the community than I am to see David Blitzer Here's I think what the biggest misconception is about what this is gonna be when blitzer takes over who Also if you look at his portfolio the 76ers New Jersey Devils The commanders the real salt real salt lakeers are real solid. I think it's real Utah Royals

The Philadelphia WNB 18, which is yet to be announced. He's got international soccer clubs. Man, there's four of those He's also a minority stakeholder Joe Gibbs racing He guys that changes everything. This is all I had to do that for Kenny This this is not gonna be some wild influx of money like The way these work and a lot of also the private equity firms work They're gonna run it like a business you men exactly the same way as the guardians are run right now A private equity into a foot to a sports fan is a four letter word. Yeah, look at Kronke Even the way that he has been running things in Denver Like they've been talking about how cheap he is this is how all these groups it's gonna go now with with the Exception of the Dan Gilbert to the world the Jimmy Haslums of the world. We are very fortunate to have two of the owners Where they have literally proven they will spend whatever it takes that is my that is a minority views point in ownership groups in professional sports drawback to that though

They are such fans are their sports That they believe they know those sports very well And that they're the ones who hold the power. It's the gang in the anger. So that's the drawback of it But you mean you mentioned the four letter word where you say private equity on that that's not that's no fun for everybody I think with with David I do think there will be a splash for David Litzer because you got it got to do that I think you'll make a splash yes, he'll make a splash but here's an extra 30 million will spend and that'll be a one-time thing Because if they if it ends up being a bad one then well when are we splashing After the workstop. Yeah, after the workstop, but you get fixed Like a winner really after do you have to wait another year or two? Well, I don't know is there are we actually gonna figure out a salary cap and a salary floor Because then you got to make all that fit. I'm gonna guess no Well Then continue I'm just tired of having the same complaints that we've had for over 20 years easily over 20 years Don't they get tired of it too? Don't you guys see what's going on in the NBA and bath in football and don't you watch some of them

I'm a minority investment into the guardians or Name what other Cleveland or that's made a little bit of money in the life. I can't just keep y'all on athletes Terry Rose here. Oh Put the safety on Maybe you're I do think this Dodgers if you play a card. Sorry. I do think the Dodgers And the scandal with the Lakers and the Dodgers We really got to know where to hold them in fold him is the whole key to that the scandal with the Lakers and the Dodgers I do think that is gonna lead to much more oversight over how these How the wealthy owners talk about them a courts then you're talking about the bus family or what what what scandal? No, the the guy already forgot his name the I know the angels no the Dodgers the Dodgers owner Um about where where the money? Rico Pilazzo were where where the money was diverted from I think this is gonna be more oversight Over how these owners spend anyways. I think you're gonna see less and less of the

And I'm just gonna spend as much money as I possibly can I think that especially with the valuations where they are think about it if you get in For an NFL or NBA team at 8 million 9 million 10 million art billion 11 billion If you get in at those prices you're not then gonna go ahead and spend so much more money year-to-year It's not happening. I don't think it will. I think I think you're gonna actually see more restraint Than ever before in the spending of these teams. I know that's not what fans want to hear And we're back to treating them like businesses and not like Toys yeah, because that's what they've been treated for 30 years is toys I I would still rather than treated as toys Because there's still some yes because you have one person a yell at and there's that one person I can go Like Paul Dolan is a mixed bag. He is definitely committed to the city I know he can't just go we always get the Dolan family trust mix up with what Paul Dolan's personal worth is

They all like he and his brother and his sister have to like go and spin the key at the same time and get get Promises from the family to be able to take that money the four five with six billion dollars Whatever it is and throw it into the Cleveland Guardians. I don't think that's gonna happen So we say like all Paul Dolan's worth this at the other. It's like he will that that's what he's worth He can't spend that money. He can't do it. It's because they love James Dolan in with him. There you go They are separate into now. He's do that. I can always defend you that when they do the value Exactly. He's the owners. I'm like. I don't think that I don't think that Paul Dolan has ever played jazz saxophone. I don't think that has ever happened But I do commend him for his commitment to Cleveland. Yeah, I do worry about new owners anytime we have new owners But when you have the one owner, yeah, they can they can get pretty nuts like you can have a bad bad bad dance night Where you just keep making the same mistake and making it worse and then you got all the other things in there or You can try to learn from your mistakes I think Dan goberts learned from his mistakes I think to the degrees they're still trying to learn from their mistakes with the hasoms and the browns

And hopefully that'll start to pay off over some time But you're gonna have to go through you're gonna have to take your knocks But I still think it's better to have one person at the end that you can throw vitriol or praise or whatever torts instead of this board of Nameless gray faces where again, David blitzers a businessman We don't we just think a wolf blitzer when we take of that guy Coming up at nine o'clock Dr. John Steinbrecker gonna join us on the show Mac commissioner He wrote a scathing Letter about the NCAA and telling them that they need to change their weight We will talk to dr. John about that coming up at nine o'clock coming up in five minutes. I don't hate Michigan I know that's breaking news But I think I know why even those who hate Ohio state Also hate Michigan Ken Karm and Anthony Lime I gotta tell you I'd like to so I don't hate Michigan Lime is turning that into me being a Michigan fan I do not hate Michigan. I can tell why everybody else does though

I and it's not like an Ohio state thing. Ohio state fans hate Michigan because they're a high state fan I will tell you it is it is very annoying to see it's to see a program Do what life can feel overwhelming but on my podcast from the heart with Rachel Brayton were in it together every friday brings you a new story Listen to from the heart with Rachel Brayton wherever you get your podcasts They've done over the last five years, which is pull out all the stops act like every CD college football program that ever existed Whether it be in the south whether it be in Columbus whether it be anyway, right? Anytime I you always get this like anytime They get in any hot water They just completely wash their hands of their football program. It's just not it's not as important to us as it is to you You know where we have such a great business school and a law school and and you roobs down there You really don't we have such higher admission standards and you see we still care about academics

Up here in Ann Arbor and you don't Well, is that because you got caught stealing signs is that it? Is that because is that because of all the impropriety that's happened with that be good god You take a look at all of it. Harbaugh Steyons manual more for crying out loud and and then like it was I don't care when anybody says It's unbecoming and I really sincerely do not think at Ohio State fan or a group of Ohio State fans or the stadium If you had to pull off some miracle to beat western Michigan. I don't think you guys are rushing the field I think you guys are looking at Ryan Day going what the f have you done this afternoon? There's no chance. They would have run there's no chance. There's no chance And I know that it was a wild play and I think some people would go thank god we want it again Ryan what the bleep are you doing and then when Michigan does it well you get see you guys just You need football

We don't need football here and I got to tell you I'd be a little bit annoyed I'd be a little bit of no I'm not even a Michigan fan. I'm not even a Ohio State fan. I'm a little annoyed Little noise right here that it's like yeah, you care about football You care a lot about it You're wet and a wet through everything you've gone through over the last five years And really your entire history had you not cared about football Don't I don't care about it like more than anything in the world for me the difference was when Michigan one Their national championship um Who's their quarterback again? Good even land on a run. J. J. McArthie Couldn't even land her roster we talk about I mean he couldn't even He's like the worst quarterback. I remember ever winning a national team. Don't make me start to count Mike comparisons here because I don't want to start Start taking swings at guys who we've had on the station and in the station and On the show and Make it says I didn't defend well Howard like I didn't think well Howard was gonna have a great NFL career like they were insistent that this was gonna be a good quarterback anyway

um I heard from Michigan fans. I hadn't heard from him in a decade and then that's all I did was hear from Michigan fans every day Every day every day. It's like when we won the national championship I didn't I wasn't talking to Michigan fans. I was talking to the nation because we're a national program I was I was going after the SEC I didn't go after Michigan fans and you know Michigan got one you know, we have three You got one, you know, since since I was on campus at Ohio State and I'm still hearing about it even though it is like the most contested national championship. I have heard Because of the entire saga that led up to it But like when I do I do pick up an ownership from Ohio state fans over their scandals That I just don't from the chastle stand up like how Like but at the time it was a big deal and had he and nodded not told the truth and maybe it would have been a Little bit different. You can always look at a well. It got a servant Meyer and we've held ourselves to a different standard ever since But when I look at like Ohio State it's like yeah, you know what yeah like when we have um

Who am I thinking of Who's a running back who used to come in here? Why am I drawing a blank? Any wells? No, not be any well Jonathan Well, well, John the Wells would come in here. I'm sorry Jonathan. I had a toll on being was in here too Yeah, when I was having this cereal this morning With Jonathan would come in here and he would just look at us like we're the biggest city It's a world and we're like well, we're not on video. You got to say it Jonathan because it was like Hey, you guys get cars you guys get leases guys get this and that he's like come on And it's like yeah, yeah, and that's okay now. I look back on it. It's like well Yeah, it is what it is you're trying to win football championships You're trying to be competed at a high level You know the SEC's doing it Okay, that was the whole parking lot full of Challengers and chargers back in the day. Oh, hi, I sleep when I was covering football there. I saw the cars Yes, and whenever I would bring it up to people they'd be like no, no, you don't understand now Then they got to pay these loans back. I'm like okay, whatever. I'm like can't you guys just enjoy our success and not have to lie to yourself But like I do get like and maybe just cuz I'm friends with you

It's just like you guys like kind of winking a nod at it and it was always like we're above the fray We're Michigan. I'm like no Notre Dame did the same thing you know They did do something you're doing about that couldn't win a national championship So then they had to go to academics they had to go to we're doing it the right way and then you hired Brian Kelly See and I actually do like Notre Dame so that's but I have to admit that's the truth That is the truth. I mean, there's an entire book when Lou Holtz was the head coach under the tarnished dome Yeah, that's they you could tell Notre Dame was shady because they were right under the they were offered national championships I never read it. He read it at the library when you guys stopped it. What did you think was my reading material? I'm not supposed to tell that story anymore It upset somebody I was at the table with anyway Uh, yeah, so when I look at Michigan, I'm like yeah, just just admit you care. It's okay to admit you care And it's the biggest thing you got going. It's football. It's Michigan football. You have a long story to history And yeah, you got away with one. It's okay You're allowed to get away with one I think you're going to get away with another in fact

I think you got a whole country rooting against you when you're playing Oklahoma coming up on set This was it all time because they want justice America wants justice because America was watching America saw the clock America said that saw that it was zero and then America heard two hours afterwards This attempted transparency and now all of a sudden we have new clocking mechanisms But only for that game because the NCAA has already come in and said they'll never allow that to happen again But yet they can't reverse Uh, the outcome of the game one of the members of the dream team went to Michigan law school So I know he's telling me to shut up or he ain't gonna do my work anymore You see how they lured over me here. Do you see how this goes? It's like Antibono All right coming up in 901 John Steinbrecker speaking of Ohio State while not speaking of Ohio State speaking of Michigan Speaking of this travesty that happen even though you know You could have just knocked down the second Hall Mary anyway

About this the commissioner of the mid-American conference doctor John Steinbrecker He's going to join us next to answer about his letter that he wrote that is making its rounds About the impropriety that happened here over this last weekend Ken Carmen Anthony Lima doctor John and five on the thing Well the spotlight Continuing to be shined upon the mid-American conference A lot of unbelievable moments over the weekend the UMass demolition of Rutgers. I don't know what was better. They with the win or the memes of Brian Kelly when he takes over the Rutgers job Because that was outstanding also Florida State you see that one too. I saw that one as well. So did I would yeah amazing All of us and for 60 minutes of football As far as my clock and NBC's clock was concerned The incredible victory that western Michigan pulled off over Michigan only to have one second

Be put back on the clock and then another set of prayers were answered As the Hail Mary went down in history and the NCAA Today saying that'll never happen again to talk about that and so much more joining us on our wiseheart right We make it right call cow right hotline dr. John Steinbrecker Min American conference commissioner we check in with him Sometimes often now we'll say early in the football season dr. John welcome to the show Good morning. Good to be with you. Well great to be with you And so let's get down to it I think the mid-American conference not only acquitted itself so well With the football but also the class that had been demonstrated from top on down and I see America America is on your side dr. John so if you could comment about Obviously a change in direction from the night of That victory what I will call a victory over Michigan to the statement that was put out yesterday by you and your office

Well in the immediate aftermath of the game You're seeking information and hey, we're proper procedures followed what occurred boom and Every indication I saw was that yeah things were handled Per protocol that's been laid out for this Okay, so you get through all that And then the next day you have a chance to step back and take time and ask more questions Okay, why why did this even occur how did it occur what's happening here and this is where it starts to get complicated and it's to a large extent this was all an issue around technology And we have some technology evolving probably quicker Then then we've had policy for and it starts with the fact that the big 10 As put in place a replace system. That's unique. I think it's the only one of its kind being used right now

The other nine are using it different and and it's a very good system I mean it gives them some capabilities that that are exceptional in terms of angles and so on One of the things that has is it has a clock feed um now Understand this and this is where it gets even more convoluted the clock feed comes from the stadium There's a single camera in the stadium that gives the clock feed to the production truck And so now you have the feed that goes one one wire Feeds into the game production truck the TV truck the other feed feeds into the big 10s command center where the reply stuff is right? So you've got two feeds As it turns out feeds can get un-synchronized And we've had a protocol for I don't know how long That speaks to the fact when you're dealing with end of half-timing issues in a replace situation The feed that is to be used is the game feed from the production truck

In this case the decision got made based on uh The game feed that was showing on their Replace system and this and the two feed weren't synced they were off a little bit And that's whom that's where you go so if this is an issue of integrity or anything else it was um Not not utilizing the protocol that we had in place Well, yeah, you're not saying and you're not saying anything nasty about him You're saying they just didn't follow the what they were supposed to do which I think is a fair fair thing to To accuse them of You know, I the only time I've ever seen anything actually turned into a forfeit has been You know legal players in eligible players you see it you see a lot in high school football in this state Well, not a lot, but you usually once or twice a year you see it Uh, what do you think will be the results of Of all this within the NCAA?

I am unaware of any prior situation in which a game result has been overturned as a result of a protest On an officiate an officiate issue By the same token um You don't put the putt in the hole unless you get the ball to the hole right you got to ask the question And so that's in part why we did what we did and second I want to keep in the mind of the DSP selection committee What western michigan accomplished on Saturday night and that if western michigan has a an exceptional season and we get to the end of the year um and they're in in line for consideration for the college football playoff or or high rankings or Speedings or whatever I want them to be looking positively at their performance About their game with west with michigan. How close a contact have you been in with the officials of western michigan university about all this

We've had we've had any number of conversations and exchanges and and I think if people have seen They've managed this in a way that's exemplary um, I think they have raised the level of discourse Uh For how people when they're dealing with that versity Uh, whether it's an athletics or others should deal with it You have a couple choices You can jump up on the table and start banging your fists and screaming and shouting Or you can step back look at the information and then react um and this you know All we talk ad nauseam you hear coaches talk about it you talk here others talk about You know Athletics builds character teaches you how to deal with adversity et cetera. Well deal with adversity. How do you deal with it? They that's a real life demonstration of how to deal with it and I um Really applaud the president director of athletics coach

um, you want to talk about life lessons? Uh, they're they're living it right now Dr. John Steinbrecker, Min American conference commissioner on the hotline right now um When it comes to recourses for you we saw the NCL they come out and say they couldn't Give you guys victory overturn the outcome the speaking of protocols They say that protocol is not in place uh, this were the SEC we know damn well lawyers would get involved and judges would get involved Was there any thought at all to at least consider that at this point um to try to find a judge or at least Find someone to make an argument that the NCAA did not follow protocol here if they won't reverse this Can we get at least pursue All litigation We're not aware of any legal course of action that you could pursue here And I'm not sure that's the right thing. I think I think we've I think we've done the things we can do uh

To draw attention to a wonderful performance by western Michigan to draw attention to um What what I would say was Uh miss on an application or or delivery of the protocol um and We're all gonna get better across all of fbs because of this Dr Dr. John Steinbrecker joining us here uh Mac commissioner Yeah, you know I also find you in an in an in an enviable position where you really have to like you have to fight for all your teams I mean there's a lot of movement going on a lot of a lot of conferences trying to poach and so you do have to stand up there And you've handled this well But you do have to stand up there and kind of fight for your programs. Do you not? Well you do but you go where the facts take you Is what I would say yeah? I'm gonna be a strong strong strong and credible advocate for all of our member institutions

But I also need to be an arbiter of the game itself right and and so As we got information we were able to then Attack the issue and point out a where there were flaws and continue to emphasize a tremendous performance um By western Michigan and it must have been a meaningful game because they stormed the field Ha ha ha ha ha ha The biggest game for many of those kids apparently um I know That and that's the glorious sports right there's there you talk about two sides of a coin and in any of these games are great joy and and great sorrow Well, there's also economics involved um you can fact check me here is if four million the conference would get Being a non-power for if a team were to advance and getting the playoffs Uh, that would be that sounds correct. Yeah, that would be distributed So there's also there there's also finances here me forget about the people that bet on the game

I know you guys don't like to talk about that but you know This you know what's interesting I have not even thought about that that and maybe shame on me that That thought never even came to my mind other than the fact that I don't want this game to impinge in any way on Westerns ability to make the CFP But yeah, there are economics involved in everything we do Yeah, and so that's what I want to know what kind of conversation they had yesterday like when they denied the appeal so quickly It almost seems like they didn't even think about it Um, they didn't even give it much time from the moment you wrote the statement to the time the NCAA came through and then the NCAA came through a little bit later And said this can't happen again the way that Michigan won the game will never happen again under their Protocols established to me it validates your argument completely. I think Michigan has a like to stand on at that point well, but uh I'll get back to the fact what in what apparently has been said is they just don't have

Uh, the authority You step in So where we are and also Commiss john Steinbrencker join us right now the fact that in a way I don't know if you perceive it this way. I know you have great relationships with the big 10 and these other power conferences um Do you consider yourself partners with the way the payouts work the way that they help fund the athletic departments in your conference that these games can certainly help From an economic standpoint that you want to be you want to have good relationships with these people You don't want to have to go to court. You don't want to have to try to get the NCAA to intervene Yeah, you know what yeah, well exactly, but we didn't Take action or not take action out of any fear of retribution Can I be any clearer than that? Mm-hmm. We took the actions we thought were appropriate based on the information we have period

Dr john Steinbrencker joining us on the show. So while we have you all right What do you think about the contest to let the guy call the plays who wins the offensive coordinator for a drive thing that Akron has right now? What did you think of that? I thought it was brilliant um, I just uh, I just recently had a social media report done and You cannot believe the amount of attention that generated Um, I thought it was brilliant What what what a what a clever clever idea to draw attention to your program uh, you know it it I probably can't prove it, but I know there there ticket sales have increased significantly um, you know that's I harken back old kind of a bill veck kind of thing right and good for them um Well, I didn't like it until I talked to Joe more head about it on this show Because he kind of I was like what is what was your initial thoughts?

He said he hated it and then he said if he wasn't the one calling plays, he never would agree to it You know, do you guys does this open up a conversation with you and your athletic directors and even university presidents about You know, what is what is okay? What might be a little bit too far? And when it comes to something like this Yeah, no, I think and I think where you're going with it is where do you draw the line? Yeah, yeah, when does it um I I have great confidence in the administration and well as a football staff down there that they would have would manage that appropriately And I think they did so um, yeah You know what it gave a a fan a chance to spend a little time uh Consulting with coach I imagine coach could probably direct the play calls pretty much where he wanted them to don't know that for a fact That was in the conversation But what what a need opportunity to let someone or or give people a

Lot of people chance to think they might have an opportunity to kind of touch a program uh, we need to do more of that. I think the more uh, our programs can personalize themselves I think the better uh, uh, I think that will help them grow attendance and build their fan base and Help make our programs distinctive in ways that perhaps others won't per can't we don't we can't be stand-offish We need to invite you into the house and make you part of the team Dr We thank you very much for the time all the best of you in yours. You've been very gracious with your time and we hope that the season goes well for you guys Hey, thank you so much. Wish you guys the very best. Thank you dr. John Steinbricker on the wise heart right we make a right call call right hotline I wish they could overturn it. Well, no, no, no, I can't say that. I can't say that I I'm glad there's a precedent sent. I can't say I wish they overturn it

I know that it feels like you got the boots put to you It was still a 40 plus yard pass whatever the hell it was you can knock it down. I hate that it happened I really do in the in the base of the game and how it went It's not fair and square, but it's as fair and square as a terrible mistake is going to be By the referees in the game. I'm glad that something good of it has seemed to have happened where they're gonna change all this in the NCAA Yes, why they line it while they knock down the while they knock down their appeal basically admitted On reddit true crime doesn't come from journalists It comes from the victims the witnesses and sometimes the suspects themselves Every Tuesday on crimes of reddit we read these posts out loud I'm Sabrina Deanna roga and I'm Alexis Linkletter One of us brings the story the other goes in blind reacting in real time just like you new episodes dropped every Tuesday Listen to and follow crimes of reddit available now wherever you get your podcasts

That they were wrong with their changes and how they go about this see that was the thing that I thought that was very important there I just and that he's not he's not gonna be pursuing legal action. No again, but there'd be a judge in baton Rouge That would have already granted a motion to try to overturn that outcome Me it would have happened by the end of the celebration at midfield by those loser kids many robs many get well I don't know if they're losers. They were losers wouldn't happen at Ohio State. I can guarantee it wouldn't happen at Ohio State I can't I can't real football school. I'll tell you that He's got you there. I can't disagree with him there It would not happen at Ohio State. I think there'd be a lot of nasty things said to Ryan Day On the way back into the tunnel that you're even close to Worcester, Michigan I do not think you'd be rushing the field But you are right if we were in Louisiana doing this and in New Orleans There would be lots of robs and lots of gavils being pounded right now to overturn whatever But at the beauty of the playoff is that it's it is in the court of public opinion

There's no way you can forget about this later on in the year Like when you're considering western Michigan say they do pull it off they be one out if they want out That means they beat boys. He state that's quality program Maricopi pulling for them so hard. I mean if you're a 12 and one With the big tent with the we uh Mac championship game if you're a 12-1 team It's like your number 12 getting into the postseason because all this because I they're America sweethearts here over the last 48 hours 216 474 to below 92 a problem that I don't know if you'll ever gonna get over that coming up at 945 on the Thanks to good doctor for joining us. What are you laughing about? What are you laughing about your Baker mayfield sweet? Why amazing? Really What's the matter with that because can we just be honest with each other here like Okay, you have got into it with Shador fans And it it is a little bit much now you know my that my theory about that. I do think that some of them are bots and burners and things like that but

You know like When they first drafted Shador last year it was you guys haven't seen nothing like his fan base like we were getting warnings And I'm like guys we had Johnny here. We had Baker here now Don't should or his fan bases is stronger than both of them online. I will tell you that But today like it's my first rodeo with with a strong fan base and when I'm reading some guy Who is supposed to be like a I mean anybody can say they crunch film in their bio I have no idea the hell this guy is or sitting here saying that he's a top two quarterback in the NFL when healthy I go you either don't know what the hell you're looking at or You're right. I mean we're he's played a long time now you ever remotely. Yes, you either are You either don't know what you're looking at or you're a cult member like he was he was too thin 10 in 2020 Um Even I think in some of the numbers that I look at all the time he was like up to seventh But and it was it was really good and they had one year in Tampa where he was kind of top 10 ish

This is what this is what they they kind they don't really share it because I think the NFL has a lower opinion a Shoulder Sanders and what we have of should or Sanders as as outsiders as fans The NFL is told you how they feel about Baker may feel The contract shows you how they feel about Baker may feel is there any question like when we talk about top five cubies What the hell does that actually mean? Is there any question? Was there any question of the chiefs paying Patrick Maholms or the bills paying Josh out or the Bengals paying Joe Burrell for that matter There is zero question. It's just how you're gonna work the numbers That is that's why there's that tier that's called elite All right, and even I don't even want to put Joe burrow in that tier because of the injuries that have happened over the last years But there's a lot of folks saying that this team is poised to go to a super bowl We'll see how it goes for Joe burrow. I got nothing against the guy I'd love to put him back in the elite category. All right. Well my team's kind of on its ass We'll see where they go. I'm not rooting for him, but I ain't rooting against him But the NFL has told you like 166 is a 160

50 something a year, right? That's a lot of money. I say it's resetting the quarterback market for the middle for the middle. Yes That's exactly right That's exactly right and there ain't nothing wrong with that because what we're seeing here and that's and I know that people who get sensitive over Baker may Field because he does have a strong fan base. They can't take it and they're they're too sensitive about it He's a good quarterback. He is a very good quarterback at times He has had elite traits that game where they came back against the Bengals speak of the devil When I I will never forget that game as long as I live probably I went to the bathroom and half time ago. How am I going to do this show tomorrow? Like oh, Della got hurt in that game. You remember that's it then wonny towards ACL and I go He's throwing the ball all over the place except for places he's supposed to throw it This offense sucks. He sucks. It looks like this is over. How the hell am I going to do the show tomorrow And then he came out in the second half and he did what he did in the second half I don't want the phone and mad adorned down in my door going this is unbelievable. This guy's unbelievable

Like he has elite traits But he's not elite all the time Well It's called elite for a reason there's only like a couple that can be a part of that and he ain't a part of that And the NFL knows that so they paid him a lot of money And I think it's a hell of an investment by Tampa Bay in him You got a great quarterback quarterback class coming up here now you could if you really wanted to you could draft a quarterback This year, but I don't see them doing it. They've made an investment in Baker, Mayfield. That's a perfectly fair investment It's a perfectly fair investment I don't understand why we can't tell the truth about some of these guys It's going to happen more and more you know that like Shador is not the end of the line Of fans that gravitate towards a quarterback that have their own film crews that have their own people around them He ate the last he's probably at the beginning right you know that Yeah, I'm gonna take a guy like we're gonna take a guy someday who's gonna have all that around him again Well, what do you think of that let's say if it was arch so arch is an on social media like that

Yeah, everything you think Omaha productions ain't following him around somewhere. That's what I mean um The way that it's been with with with arch so far they have been so careful As to not let it get to that kind of craziness But it's still archmaning right still he's still famous his family's famous and they know that if he stepped in it He'd be even more polarizing a controversial than he already is and he's done nothing to be controversial or polarizing other than play football for Texas and have the last name man And there's a lot of archmaning truth. There's out there And we'll find out more coming up on Saturday because I'll tell you right now I get when we're out and about we talked to big Homer Buckeye fans And we got to ask serious questions of each other here Do you do you dislike archmaning because of the last name because he plays for Texas because there was a lot of height Did you stop watching archmaning after the Ohio State game last year? We're him and Julian saying kind of pittled around and in in Ohio State took a defensive game like do you do that or

Did you see the last eight games of the season now? The last eight games of the season isn't a reason to take him number one or number two or even number three overall Because that was over a year ago. He's got played well this year But when I bring up Julian saying hey Julian saying it's got a lot of great qualities. I want to see more I also want to make sure he's not a merchant of Jeremiah Smith who's arguably the greatest wide receiver these eyes have ever seen Like I need to make sure Going in and I've done the checks and balances. What did I tell you about Darian Mensa? Oh, his mom scares me. She's a momager. That's their word for it. I didn't even make up that word Okay, well, how can I sit there and say I'm afraid of Darian Mensa? But then all of a sudden throw a full-throated endorsement behind archmaning of all people You want to talk about an involved family? Like these are things that we work out over the weeks That's why to me like when you guys are gonna throw up the quarterback graphic whenever it happened probably on Friday Whenever we put up the quarterback graphic to me. It's a watch list. It's not a ranking I know I have Byron Brown on there. He was terrible on Saturday

I'm still not gonna take him out. I want to see what he does coming up But soon enough he'll probably be honest. I can't wait to talk and see if arch does come out this year People say he still might not even come out But if if he comes out this year The conversations about Shudor and why he slipped to the fifth and I feel like we have enough information now It's not not a not guesswork like he Only wanted to play in certain places. He was not willing to really talk to certain teams I mean, that's out there so many times over I don't care what the Shudor fans are. They're just in denial Like he did not help his own cause him in his representation or lack thereof whatever Him and his family did not help their cause. It's why he slipped to the fifth. It wasn't his talent Me his talent might not have been number two overall But it wasn't fifth. We all agree. He had more talent than that fifth round absolutely not But he did not do himself any favors. Well The mannings are kind of famous especially Eli like kind of famously. Hey, I don't want to go there

Right. Well, I told him any went back to college just because he couldn't get a guarantee from parcels So what is that conversation? Let's be fair here If these leaks we're going to come out about Shudor and the things that he wanted Are we going to be as comfortable You know talking about that when it comes to Manning just because what because he's definitely going to go top five By the way, I didn't tell you that I just told you that second hand scary Myers wrote that in the book What did you say about top five? I wanted to Almost I Even if he plays poorly at times this year if he if he were to come out He's still going top 10 right arch. Yeah, still going top 10 Yeah, but he has every reason to go back and do it. Okay, or he might go back like but either way either way what I'm saying is If you killed Shudor For wanting to pick his spot are people going to be prepared to kill The mannings in the same way No, you know there's a double standard double standard there's a total double standard and

You can you could basically pull any lever you want on that double standard You're probably going to be somewhat right if not a hundred percent right there's a complete double standard to it What I am hoping though like I think we've seen it a lot with quarterbacks in the past where they go back to college And we start looking for what's wrong instead of instead of seeing what's right Like we did that with Justin Herbert just in Herbert goes back and I remember Marash was going nuts He's too much of a he's he doesn't have the guts almost that's I'm out of dumb He didn't have the guts to go to the NFL He was going to go with the giants and he didn't have the guts to go to the NFL I went back to college But people were looking at the wrong things and then you overdraft to a tongue of Iloa And you underdraft Justin Herbert there and Justin Herbert ain't out of the woods by any means necessary I know that there's certainly a knock on him. He might be upper tier middle class He might be upper middle class when it comes that he might be just a taller version of Baker may feel by the time It's all said and done All right, well, I'd like to have a middle class because right now There's like three elite quarterbacks and the rest we just feel are garbage

So I yeah, I do kind of hope that Baker may field and other guys can be a middle tier It's like hey, I don't have to just go out there and use the t-word to try to get better because you know how I stand on that stuff And it's not just about personal pride It's also about organization and being the right type of organization and just Not waiting for somebody to cover up for you being a moron Like that's what the cults had done in the past. They did it twice I don't want that. I want my team to be a good organization That's what I want. I want that quarterback. I'd be stupid not to But I also want to him to them to have people around him like Peyton Manning Yeah, he had to cover up a lot for the Indianapolis Colts He didn't have to cover as much as Andrew Luck did because they drafted really stupid around Andrew Luck I don't want that for whoever the Browns take a quarterback So I'm hoping that these guys this year start to lay the foundation So this is a nice place and this is why I'm I can't say cut the Sean Watson get ready to Sean Watson I don't want an eighty six million dollar thing hanging around my neck going into next year

That can take us away from getting some free agents helping out our young quarterback 216474 to below 92 speaking of the current one I know that Todd Munkin said something real nice yesterday and it sounds good And I don't think he's lying But it sure is hell ain't going to be the truth especially if things don't go well on Sunday Can Carm and Anthony Lyme it takes us with you to work on the free audacity Saw a video at Dustin on the internet On their show over there and like I'm like boy he's he's got a Dave Wantset thing going he does not now like Dave Wantset's gray Like Dustin is in gray yet, but I'm like man that's that's bears Dave Wantset right there man Looking good Looking tough like he's in better shape than he was when he played for a house that mustache There is some strong Machines mode of that I'm glad to the mustache is back. I can't grow one But I'm glad that the mustache is back my dad has never not had a mustache as long as I'm known

40 years he's always had a mustache. I think he shaved it once Since he could grow one and dad's always had a mustache since He's a great responsible man And so he's growing a mustache Todd Munkin was with us yesterday I think this is a nice way to think I I just don't think that this is the truth. I think it was Lyme who asked him His reaction to Watson's issue with the fans after the bills game. This was Todd Munkin's initial response. I looked at it more on the lines of a speed bump and just a blip on the radar more than The norm of what I had seen over the course of the five months being here Terms of his confidence how hard he's worked to get back to where he's at today And I any did he he came to me right after that him and I had a good conversation He said I'm not sure I handled that the right way, but I did have things that were on my heart All right, that's the first response This is continued about that he thinks that Dishon Watson can get past his comments about the fans

I needed to get this off my chest. It's over I just want to go out there and play great football. I've worked off. He's hard to get back And I believe I believe in the only way you're going to get the best out of your players Is to have a verbal contract that says I've got your back. I've got your back. I got you And that's what we've done with the Sean and we look forward to playing this weekend All right, you got to say those things, but when Zach Jackson joins us and Well, he has this to say about Dishon Watson It doesn't give me a whole lot of hope Zach we did kind of catch win towards the end of the available practices for media that The RPO stuff was a little more of an emphasis you weren't going to really do that with Shedore Which is comical because he's not even fast anymore He doesn't have one skill that challenges NSL defenses But yeah, you're right. That's probably what they're going to do And really tied hinted throughout the whole spring that experience and mobility had given bots in the edge He outright said that a couple of times He danced around it a few other times So we probably are going to see that but that to me is just comical

So if it doesn't go and when he says 10 and a half quarters It's like the these two weeks are an audition for him to come home and play in front of the bronze fans Especially with week two. I mean, we just we've spent two statements talking about the guy who used to be here And the contract he just signed like this is an audition to be able to play back in front of the home fans After what was said After what happened after what transpired and I mean there are some people who are in to Sean Watson's corner surprisingly I have received those emails but I think the vast majority of bronze fans would rather be done with this the only thing that will dig you out of this Because I don't think anybody believes the words and I think they're waiting for the other shoot to drop again If there's any more shoes to drop The only thing that's going to dig you out of this hole is good play. That's the only thing I I don't know if you even had you know could they lose games and have him still play relatively well Yeah, I mean they could you you've seen good quarterback performances with a quarterback who hadn't played that great We've talked about him before or we've seen I should say good

Performances from a quarterback to a team that hasn't won we've talked about those before I do believe that this is And so many ways for him and the fans these two weeks and our audition to be able to come back and play at home You agree with that you seem to yeah, yeah Because do you think that now this is a question with Todd Munking because I know we asked him should the fans Be involved in any of this should he care about the fans reactions to any of this And I don't think he's really should But I also think what do we got to do what's right for a football team because if he's going to react to the fans This is where you do have to in a round of outweigh consider the fans If I think my quarterback isn't going to be able to handle the fan reaction then I got to rethink my quarterback And I don't know if he's going to be able to handle the fan reaction Yeah, I so the fans do dictate what I'm going to do at my quarterback position And I have to hope that should or Sanders is ready to go because if he goes out there And he plays poorly on Sunday and then plays poorly the next Sunday We got to rip the court on this thing we got to move on I can't have I think they will it's gonna be a rough year

I hope you're right about that. Yeah, I don't I think it's gonna be still probably be a rough year I don't need to be even rougher in if Watson looks like one of the other fans struck through the mud If he looks like one of the worst quarterbacks in football for two weeks he's gonna get benched I don't think there's any question about that see you say that But if you if you don't think that should or Sanders is ready. What are you going to do? Well, you just got to put up in a locker gets here guys guys get played all the time that aren't ready to play in the NFL Should or last year was not ready to play in the NFL We hope that's true. That's true And they just said hey, let's let's see some games. Let's see him play And now this coach doesn't think he's ready So maybe he'll be ready by week three maybe he'll be ready by week seven I hope so because I'd like to be able to break glass if needed on should or Sanders and and because of this I do think the fans have I think the fans have power here Because if he goes out in the place poorly and you come off this season 0 and 2 Especially if you just lost to Baker Mayfield and I'm sure he's gonna let you know about it because he lets everybody know about it You need to make a serious you have to have a serious conversation about replacing him because

It's it is about the fans, but it is about football as well And if I really think he's going to be rattled by the own home his own hometown fans because he's playing at home I have to move on to somebody else because they're not going to help my team win So as much as we can say hey, this is until further notice. It's a multi-week thing. No, I think he's on a two-week trial basis He can go out there and play poorly in Jacksonville and then come back and play well and and Tampa Bay and maybe that'll save him because I don't know how great the year's gonna be. I'm saying five wins. You said four wins I don't need the fans being drug into it either. That's the last thing I need Thanks to everybody who joined us today. Zach Jackson was wonderful We went around the F's you know with Ken Wyman was excellent. Moe Ager was great. Chris Mueller very good as well And Dr. John Steinbrenner side breaker talking tough, huh It's you like Dr. John. Absolutely love it Saying the things that that that Western Michigan deserves especially at the end of the season if there is consideration And you're Michigan you're lucky. He's not going through the courts because the courts would rule with him

Because he and Cevallay basically did rule with him here that on 92-3 the fan.com have a wonderful day in my friends. Go Guardian Hey Sounds good cool like an intellectual
