The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima. I can't focus on the future. I gotta focus on now. You know, if I try to look ahead and I get distracted on not focusing on what I need to do now, then, you know, who knows what the future might hold. So all I can do is control these moments now, these opportunities I have now. Well, it's been great. He is really embraced. What we do offensively, I think for him, it's been, you know, brother fresh air, new life, new opportunity. Now, now we've all got to take advantage of it, same with myself. I'm excited for him. I would hope that all of our players, including D'Han, that were speaking the same language, offense defense, special teams, and speaking the same language, terms of our expectations, on a daily basis, a weekly basis, and how we're going to play on Sunday. It's been once instead of Buffalo games out of your mind. Which Buffalo games? Proceeds in the game. Oh, yeah, I mean, yeah, that's not worried about that. You know, we focus on now. You know, it's about what we got, what we can do now. So it's not about what we were about in the future, in the past, excuse me.
You know, we know what about 24, we know what about last show, we know plan, we know what about the preseason. Right now we got to focus on Jason. This is Cleveland Sports Radio, 92-3, the fan. Hell yeah, let's go. Hi. Hello. You excited for football last night? Didn't seem like it was for about 10 minutes in the first corner. And okay, I tell you, then Sam Darnal was limping off and it's pretty clear. Neither team was going to put up a bunch of points. And I'm like, yeah, I think it might be a good night to catch up on sleep. Have we reached again tomorrow night? Have we are we finally reaching that point with the sport? Because it was Wednesday and Owen said, you know what? I'm a little thrown off because I sit up and I'm going to watch the first three quarters. And now I got a game tonight. And I'm like, yeah, I felt the same way you did. And then it starts off with this whimper. It's a Wednesday. Everything's thrown off. And now you got this game in Australia, which they're going to play at 10.30 in the morning
out in Australia, which is only going to strengthen my argument later on by the way, which we'll get into pre-form Mary Kay joins us at 8.20 this morning. But I'm seeing this last night. I'm going, yeah, I mean, I know it's a super bowl rematch and fireworks are going off in the stadiums loud and it's packed and I'm just like, it still feels like preseason. Something out of Wednesday, man. They have Pearl Jam guitarist before the game. And then during the national anthem, tornado warning came up. Betsy Kling was on my TV. And I said, okay, this is not going to threaten my area. So prayers to the people there. Let's get it over to peacock. We're nothing but he's up the screen. I'm sorry, Betsy. You're doing, you're doing what you need to do. They got to do. They have a responsibility. I did the same thing. I thought peacock at least gave me that the only problem I have with peacock is, you know, how sometimes there's that spot where they don't have commercials to play. So they just play stick around. We'll be back to the game.
The music they use for that is also the same music they use for a special report on NBC, which made me think something nationally was they play the John Williams music. It's that same orchestra. It doesn't get as hyped up in the middle, but it happens for like five seconds and definitely now I was wrong the phone and I looked up like, oh no. That is. That is to every generate up. What do you think? It probably just John do that. John's 24. When he hears that, then at the beginning of it, it's like, I got to stop whatever I'm doing to look at the TV. Like it is, it is a, it is a dinner bell. I think that might be serious is going on. Unfortunately, I wish that weren't the case, but that might be gone with, with people on his age, age range. I'm a big fan of the sports jingles. I like the autumn wind. Well, that's not a sports jingle. That's a breaking news jingle. That's a, we just had a national tragedy jingle.
That's twice, that's twice a week. But now you're breaking news. Do you have that Ohio State non-con? John coming up here in the next couple of years. Have that forth? I think John and his entire, that demographic is getting the news from TikTok or anything anyway. They don't get the theme song. My kids don't care unless the, if you're like for a severe thunderstorm warning or a tornado warning, your phone usually just pushes and you get the loud, blaring thing. My kids are like the fun didn't glare so. Yeah. If there's no jingle, how do I know it's important? You don't, I have to know it's important. I don't know if there's a draft pick unless I hear the dun dun dun dun dun. Dun dun dun. Like I don't know then. I can't tell you there's a draft pick. That was more interesting to me than what happened on the football field last night. It was, it was a snort test. We get honest. Actually, other than drink may, can't complete passes to a H. That's why I was, that's why I was taken in by it. Which was incredible because last year he had the best deep ball accuracy in the NFL
and last idea and two picked off. He had three total, but he had two of the, two of the downfield throws picked off. Also the last, the last two weeks Mike Vrable has looked like a football coach who has no answers and it's just mad at everybody because the last game that they had was against Cleveland in the preseason and he was mad at the entire game because of the lack of effort. Yeah. And ball, who'd wide receivers leaving the field in a boot. You had such an advantage when the other teams starting quarterback plays five plays and then gets a yank test to leave the field. And yeah, I guess you didn't really know if he was going to return or not. And the next thing you know, they said he was leaving the stadium or something. I got, I got him. Well, he had to go get an MRI. Apparently the news is good. The initial good news is good for Sam Darnold. I've made, we're talking hip injuries, hip injuries are very serious. So that's, that's not good. And then of course Drew Locke comes in there and play, I thought played pretty admirably. What do you think? I played pretty well. And what I saw because I was in sleepy land.
Well, but I woke up to pass. You passed out. You fall asleep and did you pass out? I was out so quick. It was only a Wednesday. I can't, there might not have been any boost. Let me see your eyes. And I know there's definitely no last time. See, this is, this is the one argument I have. I've kind of quarreled with football, football fans. There's just different levels of football fandom. And one of the themes I think of the arguments that sometimes mean you get in or mean the football fans all over the place is that there is a pretty substantial number of football fans who will say all football is good football. Defends the struggle, good football. You know, greatest show on turf or what? Good football. Oh, this one was just a shootout. Good football. Oh, two backup quarterbacks. Good football. It's football. And last night people were willing to accept any football normally. But I will say the social media I woke up to today is a much people were admitting that it was bad football.
It was bad football, which normally they don't. Normally it's a celebration of football no matter what. I think usually you find that in college. Like if people see 62, 61, they're, oh my goodness, like now ain't good football. I mean, I got a dig deeper. Maybe it is. Maybe the offenses are just that high powered, but usually there's issues here. And you got to dig a little deeper. And I think last night, I think you're right. I think people were excited to see like the NFL come back and then it was just it popped. I can appreciate good defensive football when there are a ton of like tackle your sorry sacks, quarterback pressures. Yeah. Guys, you know, making plays, saving, you know, potential scores and things like that. Didn't feel like that was happening at all last night though. It felt like two teams that, you know, I mean, they hadn't played their starters all three preseason games or any preseason games for that matter. And then also had two weeks off or three weeks off since the last time those guys played Bingo. You had almost 150 yards and 17 goodbye taken penalties as well.
Like that's that's a pretty easy game. That can be pretty slow. I mean, that's what it was. And let me tell you why that is exactly why I'm telling you like I can't tell you about what's going to happen. I'm not going to tell you about what's going to happen like in week two or any week after that. But last night is the exact reason why it's like I absolutely I give it. I know what they're the odds say they say it in half. I say it's a 50 50 chance. I think it's a 50 50 proposition. I am as I am as in tune for a Brown's football game as I think I'm going to be all year. Well, I don't know week two is probably going to be a big one. So I but I'm pretty in tune with these first two weeks about how things are going to go. And I it's week one. You both of these teams lost week one last year. Both of them did. Maybe it's a Patriots thing where they just come out and play like absolute garbage in week one every year. Maybe they'll set sail. I think that some people are going to look at as a Super Bowl hangover. I know the Drake May was terrible last night. Obviously, but going back to the Browns.
I know the 13 and four. I know it Vegas is saying. And I don't think I'll sound like this every week. I mean, if they go out there and they get boat raised, I can't imagine I'm going to sound like this every week. And we're going to place them hilarious Ross Tucker audio coming up here to rod 624 Vegas. Things you're getting boat race. I understand one of the bigger lines of the weekends. I totally understand that. But I imagine, well, you know, the new England was coming off a bad record, but they had. They had the pieces that people might be excited about going into the last year against Vegas and week one. I but I do believe that week one tends to be a slot fest. I think last night was an indicator of that week one is a good thing for us. Yes. And if you can come out and you can just eliminate first and 15, if you can eliminate second and 12 because of holds or holds. I mean, holds happen. If you can eliminate pre snap, if you can eliminate turnovers, like if you can run the ball with any decency and calm down to Sean Watson, like, yeah, I think you can get a little sloppy
and find a way to win this football game on Sunday. You're not favored for very good reasons. One team is better than the other and the Jacksonville Jaguars have a better quarterback situation. They have a more proven coaching situation. I don't know. Todd Munkin might end up being the golden god. We don't know yet. One coach has gone to the playoffs after a terrible introductory press conference has gone to the playoffs and has seemingly has turned the Jacksonville Jaguars around. They got a good defense. They got a good front four. They're good against the run. A lot of this stuff is obviously based on last year. There's a lot of reasons why if this were a week and I go, yeah, take the Jaguars, but I'm telling you right now, if you're going to take the Browns, I think this week's the week to take the Browns. And you could just say it, Browns, you money line or Ross Tucker and wake his ass up and tell him to call up. I'll tell him right to his face respectfully. I take the Browns with the points or I'm taking the Browns to win. Oh, you just got to take the win. I don't gamble, but you want a new money line. I'm taking the Browns to win. Now what is Ken? You bring it up.
In the past, what has Ken said at this exact time before every game? Because it's week one or wins to six wins to eight wins to last year. That was honestly and then the coach got fired. I'm going to watch week one. Well, I'm going to watch week one. I'm going to pick him to win week one. I'm going to watch week one. Now, I can't imagine I'm going to pick him to win next week. If Ken, the reality will probably set in. I can't honestly, I can't imagine I'm going to win next week. I want to ask the fans. It's not a Ken Karmie question. Okay. Ken tells you every year at this exact time that the Browns are going to win the opener. Does he lose credibility with the fans? We've won some openers recently. We have. We actually have. But if Ken does this exact same thing every year, do you brush it off? Do you say, oh, well, it's just Ken being Ken or does it get you fired up? I'm asking the fans. I can't answer that question. I can't answer that question. I have no idea. Two, one, six, four, seven, four, double, nine, two. And Ken predicts the Browns to win week one every year. Does it mean anything?
Does it get you pumped up? That's week one. I'm not picking him to win every week. I imagine your own thing now. But here's the thing. If they do win, I try to pick them to win week two. No, I don't think I will. I don't know if I will. Yes, you will. 100%. Well, now you're going to make me pick against him. I was five, four, seven, four, double, nine, two. If the Browns actually do win week one, we'll Ken flip-flop and pick the Browns wouldn't week two. So a couple of questions out there for the fans this morning. I hate you dearly. All right. I'll pick them. I mean, if they win week one, I'll pick them to win two. Hell yeah, well, I don't know if I might just do it out of spite to pick against them. If they win week one and week two, then why are we doing when they come home for the home opener? We're booing. You kidding me? It's a boo fast. We were ain't forgotten about that. What are you talking about? Yeah, you forgot about that. He brought it up at the beginning of the press conference, but then he later on forgot about it. That's right. Yeah, we got our brain screwed on real tight, don't we?
But we are fully confident in ourselves, aren't we, over there? I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm not wearing this one on Sunday afternoon and now I come to think of it. Well, make a case. That's what I, this is the, the great thing about all this. You always make a case. Ken, it's easy to do. Outside of there, just the Browns and it's, hey, I like the Browns. No, it's, it's, it's week one. And I think that your offensive line can probably not be any worse than what it was last year. I understand that you bring up with the Shudor fans that they weren't that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, they still were one of the bottom groups in the NFL. And it's their first week together. So that's going to be pretty hard to make an argument for. Uh, damn it. Fire up the music. Get me going easily yesterday. What? During his eight minutes of speaking, Dishon Watson, he was asked about his seven and O record against the Jacksonville Jack Wars. Eight no eight no. Oh, I said seven and no.
He's only K wrote eight. No, they said seven and no. Okay. Well, you know, I mean, you heard it quite, I listened to it three times. As well as do it twice. I was doing yesterday afternoon. I heard it this morning with Jeff, but I went, I only read the what Mary, David. All right. Even though those were different teams, let's hear he had the He was a different one along or whatever at one point and then wrote a bus all the way to Jacksonville to play. It is amazing. The fall from the guy. I want a back guy. It that's what the guy's gone. That guy's gone. He's never coming back. That bus went to speed limit the whole way there. Or they just think I caught. I don't know. Six forty three. Used to be a time where athletes would get away with speeding. That is not today. Well, if you're going, you know, again, if you're going 74 in a 60, I might be able to cut you a little bit of slack there. 86 is moving a little quickly. More on that at six forty three. Damn it. All right. You want me to get the mic in the background?
Let's go. All right. No, no, no. I'm going to wait. Oh, come on. Two one six four seven four to below 90. I'm going to get to these guys here in a second. Throw out the number. Throw out the question again to everybody. Do you remember what you asked everybody? Yeah, Ken picks the Browns to win every year at this exact time for the opener. Does it affect my credibility? Yes. Does it mean anything to you? Does it mean anything? Two one six four seven four to below 92. I want to see what you think. I'm not just going to, I know with my heart, they can win. But I know with how I sound. It sounds like I'm saying that they can just get lucky. Two one six four seven four to below 92. If any police officers have a polygraph with them right about now or access to a polygraph right about now, 92 three. The fan may need your help. I'll explain a really Ross Tucker will coming up at 624 on the. Well, here come the calls.
Well, I asked in there and I shall receive. Actually, you asked a new shall receive because I was like, oh, I'm taking I'll take the Browns on Sunday. Yeah. We won. Take the Browns. I want to know if that continues. I remember you see a frustrated when we started hosting this show. It became all Ken's going to pick the Browns every week. Anthony Anthony is going to pick against them. And so we were a new show and everybody started picking sides. And I think we know where most people pick. Yeah, but they did not appreciate that I was telling people things that. You were not telling them well, after a while though, like you can't it. First off, I can't just do it as a gimmick. All right. What I do like about hosting with you and I'm not saying this just because you're in my presence. I've said this to people out and about and everything is that you tend to see things. I'm a dreamer. You're not it's not like you're a dollar individual all the time. You can be optimistic about things, but I'm more of a dreamer. I tend to lose grip with reality by those dreams. And you tend to keep me honest with myself. And so I have to think twice before I go shoot my mouth off about winning, going to the playoffs, winning 10 games in a season or anything like that.
Because you're going to call me out and embarrass me. But I would also tell you I was jealous because I was like I want to get back to 21 year old Anthony. Well, they come into the Munilot and getting excited and being a rational me. Now I'm talking about me getting a rational about my team's chances to win again. It's not about be I know what you're I know what you're trying to protect against and I respect it. And I don't want to name names here. I know you're trying to not be a negative individual all the time. I think you're just trying to be a realist. And that's my issue is that I've taken your realism at times that I've just focused it on negativity. Why? Because usually the negative things have affected the rounds. But I don't think you go out of your way like you have a dumped on the roster. You haven't said that this team is is incapable of building anything. You've not said that once you have not been negative about this roster. I've been way more I've been way more down about other Browns. But yes, of course like there's been concerns and I think we've shared the same concerns. I don't know what the offensive lines going to look like right now because they haven't really played meaningful football with each other.
Total mystery, but I'm kind of trending. I'm starting to buy into a Todd has had his time with them. And you know, I know we already have an injury. But for some people that injury is already a good thing. Well, because I mean, I'll have Austin Barber possibly in and I'm no offensive to Evan Jenkins. I'm not trying to be mean spirited. You're just not part of the future. Austin Barber has a chance to be a part of the future or maybe he doesn't. You know, we'll find out. But I have like Parker Brailsford could end up being put in by the end of the season. And hopefully you'll play well. My my concerns. It's not it's not a nastiness. My concerns are depth in the secondary. My concerns are depth at defensive tackle. My concern at ed rusher. I should say really linebacker. I mean, my entire defense month, the front side of my defense looks pretty fine. It's just if if one, two or three of those guys go down, then I'm going to be in trouble. All right. Well, those guys aren't down right now. Like this is as healthy as we're going to be all year long. So I'm getting ready for Jacksonville. And it's week one. We have tape on them calling place.
I mean, Liam Collins said it yesterday in his press conference is like, they got tape all over the place of me. Like, I know that Todd Munkett has called offense before. And he says, this is a new team. I don't he's like, and I also have nothing on Mike Rootenberg calling place at all. So they got a whole year of tape on me calling place for my offense, where I don't have anything on them with their defense. So now I have and I look at the history of week one. And I'm like, hey, if you're going to give them a puncture's chance, like they got there and get throttled in history. If you want to get into the history, usually our first games with our new coaches don't end up very well. I mean, we went to the playoffs twice with Kevin's to fansky. And week one was an out and out disaster. I mean, Jamie Gillian got, got boat race to the end zone. They ended up losing like 37 or 37 or something like that. It was so bad. Like you can lose history there and say, yeah, we can, we can go out and get throttled. Ken, yeah, it's week one. The Scottish hammer. But I look at what we have. And I'm thinking, all right, if you are bullish on the Browns, this is as good a chance as you're ever going to have to be bullish on the Browns.
So like those who are like saying, we can win 10 games. We can win 11 games. And Ross Tucker will certainly knock that down very quickly. Okay, but you have a very good chance of being on your way or you believe you're on your way to being right about that after Sunday afternoon. This is as healthy as we're going to be. This is as good as we're going to be. I don't know about the quarterback position. That's a tremendous question mark and kind of a downside point to everything. But this is as good as it's going to get. So yeah, week one, I have, I, I solemnly swear. I will not say anything that will lead me to week two against Tampa Bay and everything that then will be on tape. But I'm only can go, I can only go week to week right now. And I'm going to week one. And I'm like, yeah, I'm going to take the Browns. I'll take the Browns. And you wanted to know if I pick them to win week one every year, do I lose that credibility? Well, let's go to the phones. Mike and Akron, hello, Mike. Good morning. Good morning, Mike. Hey, I just think we should cut Ken some grace here.
I've been on Browns fan for over 60 years. And I have not gone into one game not thinking that they might be able to win. And that includes when they went on 17. That's being a Browns fan. That's not about credibility. That's about being a Cleveland Browns fan. That's fair. I like that. Mike, thank you very much for the call. Okay. I got one for me. Jim and Syracuse, do Yorkies listening on the free Odyssey? Hello, Jim. Yeah, Mike's an illusion. And you're crazy as well. So I, the Browns are going to start on three. If the Sean Watson goes 17 for 24 with two touchdowns on Sunday at Browns, when I will come to the studio and shine your shoes. Well, now that sounds like a hell of an idea. I think Jim just hung up, but I would like that to happen. Syracuse is six and a half hour drive.
I'm not asking that guy a dry section. No, you could just, he could just send me something. Fine. I'm not going to ask him to actually come to his wish. What would say what? I'm not driving out the area to get my shoe shine. I've never had my shoe shines before. I don't know how long do they take. I'm not going out there. That I got to find one of those chairs. We got one down here in the basement of this building. I got to go to Eureon five one of them. The chairs, I mean, in a week, there could be the lake effects snow already. I mean, that's how quickly it happens. Well, you know, he, he was on Watson. I wanted to ask him. He was on Watson. They're showing the replay right now. The AJ Brown injury by the way up there. Doesn't look great. He left in a boot, right? Yeah. Um, I understand what he says about Watson. And you can go to the free audacity. You can actually use the rewind feature, which is brought to you by Integrated Restoration. Your local experts in water firestorm disaster restoration. 632 and 21 seconds for those scoring at home. Uh, I said at the end of it yesterday, because it, it starts to hit after the Todd Munkian interview that we had the other day where he's like, yeah, me and Deshaun, we talked about it. And, you know, he said his sorry's and we're moving on and I'm going.
Yeah, I, I know you say that, but this is actually where fans have a lot of power because you have to take the fans thoughts into consideration because he's that preoccupied with the fans. You have an eight quarter audition. If he can't get anything done in the next eight quarters, he has, Jim and Kierce, Syracuse has zero belief that the Sean Watts is going to get it done. And I think very few people have any belief that he's going to be able to get it done. He has eight quarters to prove everybody wrong. And then to try to get people on his side when he comes home. If, if they're O and two and he's played like garbage, you can't start him. Why? Because he's in his own head about the fans. So the fans are the ones who hold the power here on whether or not he starts against Carolina. I know that a lot of people are down because he's starting against Jacksonville. Jacksonville will more than likely start against Tampa Bay, but it is in their hands. If he goes out there and he plays poorly, they will make the decision. I think four Todd Monk. Yeah, what a wild week that would be too thinking about what are they going to do with the Sean Watts? And then the excitement about Shudor, then the Shudor fans are back engaged. Exactly. Exactly. And who do they play? You know, that week at home at the whole moment. Carolina and then they got, they got a Pittsburgh at home on that Thursday night.
So it's a big turnaround. Right. And the reason I bring like I know before the season is I'm going, hey, Todd can't worry about our opinion. He can't worry about our opinion. He's, he's owes it to the 53. And it's still true. You owe it to the 53. If I think my quarterback is going to be in his own head because everybody else around him at home, he doesn't get my team the best chance to win. So I got to look at somebody else. Well, I want percentage of our fan base thinks he gives them the best chance to win now. Very, very little. Very little. I know there are people that aren't in on Shudor either. They're both quarterbacks. Yeah, but they can still only go by what they see and what they saw was absolute garbage. Yeah, at least at least I think there's always, there's hope that you go vertical that you can throw the football down the field. When Zack Jackson came on yesterday and said there's nothing that he does to challenge a defense right now, professional defense. I think that has people going, oh man, what is the point? It's true. Mark and Wickliffe, you're next up on the fan. Hello, Mark. Good morning, gentlemen. Sam, you lost all credibility a couple years ago when you guaranteed those elementary school kids a win against the Raiders. No.
And I lost money on them. I took your word for it. Why don't you have you lose money on it? I'm not telling you. I care. I have not stewed finance that. I feel bad about those kindergartners. Can you tell us how badly you went into debt? I told I was going all in with $100. You told me I was crazy. I said that's all I got for the Browns. That's it. Well, in that way, Sam, if you vote a certain way based on last night, you can get five grand. Okay, we're moving on. Thank you very much, Mark. I appreciate the call. Those kids are in second grade now. Oh, man. You think their parents ever remind them? That's the cradle, man. I know. That was Sheffield, right? That was that Sheffield that kindergarten teacher called me live and had the kids yelling in the, yeah, that was out of Brookside and that kindergarten for all the people who have just joined us two years ago. I had a kindergarten teacher call me live from her school from her school room, her classroom, and all the kids were, it's basically an episode of the, of the office with Scott's tauts. And I got guilted in a guaranteeing a Browns victory to the kids.
And then they went on lost. And I got blamed for it somehow. Are the Browns aneptitude? You get caught up in the moment. I get it. It happens. Do I ever do that? Are there going to be other teachers that call in with their kids and make me guarantee Browns victories in the future? That is a vivid memory. How could you not remember it? I remember the feeling I had after they lost. I felt I let all those poor kids down. It's like if Babe Ruth didn't hit the second home run. Who the hell knows what would happen. All right. Why do I need a polygraph? I will tell you why we need a polygraph because we are inundated with calls of people who want to attack my credibility over taking the Browns week one. I'm sorry. I promise you. In five minutes, I will explain to you why I need a fine officer of the law out there to bring us in a polygraph as soon as possible. Can Carmen Antirelima and call in each other out with guests in five minutes on the fan?
Guys, do you want Ken to guarantee a win for the Cleveland Browns? Yeah. You. Saddie, Heather. You guarantee a win. You. Nobody else. You. You. You can. We need to hear it. Right now. Fire your own. Let's go. I can't turn down the key. Let's go. I guarantee you win. I guarantee they're going to be the Raiders. They didn't beat the Raiders. Should I remember anything about that game? What? Should I remember anything about that game? How could you forget I guarantee they beat the Raiders and then they lost and now a generation of children. If things go the way they're supposed to go, I'll have a generation of kids coming up to me on the West side going, you know I was in that class years ago and you guaranteed us. That'd be nice. I'm not guaranteeing a victory on Sunday. I'm picking the Browns to win. I got I have five wins for the season. Lime of UF 4.
I pick Monday is one of the five wins that we have. Four is so few. Yeah, I know. I didn't say it was going to be a good year. I'm also not saying that this is a totally like I yelled about this a couple of weeks ago. It's not all or nothing guys. Like I can be building towards something. And there's been times where they have absolutely built towards nothing and yet there's a lot of stuff here. But if you would have gave it if you would have given up on Watts and a lot of people would have been happy for the right now, I think we would be very nervous about the future because we're trying to make this a good landing spot for a young QB next year. And I can enjoy some of this this year though. I know that this year is about next year, but I can't doesn't mean I can't stop and smell the roses every now and then. And I think that Sunday's the day that we smell the roses, which is interesting because I mean, I got to take aim at somebody else and I hate to do it because I like him and I think they're entertaining to me. But when I'm saying five wins and you're saying four wins and then we're getting accused of negativity, I'm like, well, wait a minute. Who's the one who's ripping Todd munkin up and down and asking people if it's a one and done every year or every day and saying that they don't trust and Todd anymore.
It's taking a big hit because of the Watson stuff and they can't think anything of redeeming about the Sean Watson, but somehow they have eight wins. On the words of them show your work. Well, this issue got brought up with Ross Tucker yesterday and well, this is where I think we need some people from the fine police police officers, the police departments around here to possibly give us a polygraph test to make sure everything's on the up and up. Because Ross Tucker thinks it's something stinks. I have the Browns at eight and nine and I have the Steelers at seven and 10 finishing last place in this division, which one is the hotter take Ross? I do not believe in your heart of hearts that you think the Browns are winning eight games this year. I don't believe you. How do you like that? You know what we should do on the show? You don't really get good ratings. Let's bring in a retired FBI guy or a cop and have them bring in a polygraph, a lie detector. And why is it you guys?
I'm telling you now Nick Nick with the video he passed my phone. He's a video to social media so your social media can go viral. That would go viral. You saying on the air that you truly believe with all your heart the Browns are going to win eight games while you're taking a polygraph that I will watch. What if you were asked to justify it during it? You couldn't do it. You couldn't do it. I mean, who's been nastier towards the Browns here over the last couple of months? Has it been me or Nick? I don't think you've been nasty. So you think Nick has been nastier. Yeah. Okay. How does he have three more wins than me and four more wins than you? Yeah. And he's been way meaner spirited towards the Cleveland Browns than either of us. I think he's been more nasty towards ownership and Deshan Watson. Well, I'm sorry Jimmy Haslamate playing quarterback on Sunday, but guess who is? And he ain't had anything good to say about that fellow now. So where do you get eight wins?
We're going to save ourselves with Shunor Sanders. A guy we didn't want to take. Well, that was that was the map that Ross obviously ended up walking him through, which is the same thing that I had put together. Like, all right, if they start out, Owen, too, now all of a sudden, they're going to roll off now the schedule. We have all said schedule is supposed to be one of the easiest in football. If you just look at the teams and base it on last year, which we know is kind of a fool Zaren. These teams, some of them fluctuate from year to year. That's a hallmark of the NFL. But I do think Nick believes it. I do. I agree with Jonathan. Like if he actually had to stand up to the test, then I do think he passed it. I do think he really believes they're going to win it. I think a lot of it has to do with he's a big belief. He's become a big believer. Thanks to Jonathan. I talked him into Shadour Sanders. Probably Shadour is not starting the year. So what does it look like the first two? That means they got to get Dishon out of there in a hurry for them to get to the eight wins. Because he believes Shadour is that much better.
So now we have to catch up with our schedule. And Shadour is going to fix things and take us to eight wins. Okay. Are they watching quarterbacks then for next year? Because if Shadour takes you to eight wins, with a roster that is incomplete, then forget about any of that other stuff. See that's again, you just keep running into walls here about the logic of eight wins. Like five wins, five wins. I can find you five wins. I really can't find you many more. And I got Jacksonville on Sunday. So when I hear Ross say that, I start laughing my ass off because I'm like, yeah, Ross is kind of saying what we've been wondering here over the last several months. I've been able to really pin down a number. I think it's fluctuated between seven and ten. Well, he's staying to ten or staying to eight wins. It's hard to find it. To get to eight, the offensive line, it really has to be one of the great comeback stories. Yes it does. That I can remember for a Brown's team and for most offensive lines to overhaul the entire thing. And now already because of the injury, you know, you've got a young guy that is going to be thrust into a situation where, you know, what do you think Jacksonville, their defensive line is thinking right now?
I mean, they think they probably think they are going to be able to feast in his opener. But one thing that we know has to be true, the offensive line has to have a big turnaround because regardless of how you feel about the Shawn Watson or Shadour and what the gap is between them or how much, how much better you think Shadour is, Shadour is not going to succeed if the offensive line stinks. It's not happy. He's not good enough. He's not good enough. I mean, we saw over the over time Patrick Maholam struggle with a bad offensive line. Like that, that's how it normally works for quarterbacks in this league. So if Patrick Maholam struggles when the offensive line goes south, what are our quarterbacks going to do? I think it's going to be a bit of a struggle. They have to be good. Yes, I think it's going to be a bit of a struggle. Like if we were on sports talk radio in Jacksonville, which is not something I would want to do. But if you were like, if we were hosted on 92 five in Jacksonville, we'd be going, man, this this front four that's been great against the run. We're going to be able to stop them and Sean Watson's afraid of his own shadow.
We're going to get after Sean Watson. Like I think Jack, I think people in Jacksonville would say that my reasoning is probably flawed just based on dumb luck a week, a week one. I can admit that. Oh, we got Nick here. Oh, Nick. He's on the Y start right. We make it right called Kyle right hotline. Nick Wilson. Good morning. Top of the morning, boys, we did eight and nine become 14 and three for the love of Christ. Like a bad man. I mean, for the love of God, you guys are like that. Like you guys are acting like eight and nine is some hallmark moment for the Browns this year. I mean, the Vikings had the third worst quarterback playing the NFL last year and they were eight and nine. The Panthers or the playoffs. What'd you say? That I'm working with team. Then we have right now. And listen, if you want to say the Browns have too many ifs, I can't really fight you on that. But I just feel like we're I feel like somehow saying eight and nine is like I'm out here like my like several of my are listeners that say, you know, 12 and five and we're going to the playoffs.
I feel like I feel like I'm kind of middle of the road here. That's a great point. You remind me of the year that I said that they would win five games and they won zero coming off for one and 15 in our first call was I think Scott Mayfield who said I was the biggest homer and Cleveland history. I go, how am I a homeer for one in five games? So I know where you're at on this. I totally do. But Nick, when I hear you're ripping and I feel the same way about the quarterback for the most part that you do. I feel the same way about the decision, even though I support him in the decision because they see things that I don't. There's so many things that I have to agree with you on. And I'm like, I'm sorry. How does Nick see eight wins? Because if you do see eight wins and we might as well just tear up these these conversations about 20, 27's quarterbacks because I think that this is such an incomplete team that can still build. There is some good. There's good players that are young. But if if should door comes in and takes you to eight wins, let's like, hey, forget it because you're going to end the season on a very positive note than where you start it off. I don't think you have to choose between being competitive and getting the quarterback next year.
I mean, the chiefs were picking in the 20s and traded up to the 10th pick to get Pat Mahomes. Okay. As the bills were picking, I think in the 20s and traded up to get Josh Allen, I understand that the easiest way to think about this is you suck for luck. Right. You end up getting the best quarterback. But even that doesn't work. Bryce Young was the number one pick in the draft and let's ask our panthers friends how that's working out. And listen, again, I understand the ifs are there. I think the ifs that really need to work out are I think you need to vote around the ball. I think the offensive line needs to stay healthy, which I think I know it's five guys instead of four. The bears and the Patriots showed you overhauling the offensive line can happen in one off season. And then that defense just needs to not take a massive step back. I think that the events given for a little step back because you have the cup cake is of cupcake cities for your schedule this year. Well, I want to see what they do with the come when it comes to zoning man because I don't think you can play nearly as much man without miles.
Garrett is you having the past and I according to grad Delva yesterday they still plan on playing plenty of man. I will see on Sunday. But let me go back to something here, which you said is right. I've used that same argument too. I agree with you. Chiefs didn't have to tank for Patrick Holmes bills didn't tank for Josh on I get that now they both had older quarterbacks. So does that mean if this Browns team that again will probably be back loaded with wins if should or Sanders is coming in. Are you willing to dig that trench and stand in there and fight Browns fans coming up this winner if they do finish it eight nine. After a young quarterback has come in and taken them to eight wins because I don't think I would a lot of people don't think that the Shawn Watts is going to get him any wins. I do think they're going to get him one win on Sunday. Okay. So seven more wins at what I'm what I'm saying with the Shawn Watts and seven wins in the set in the back half of the year. Are you willing to fight against those fans that want to give should or a chance with that bad off with that unproven offensive line the unprovenness of the wide receivers and everything else.
The questions on defense are you willing to fight those fans this winner to take that quarterback out of college. I think you know Ken that at no point am I not willing to fight. I don't you are. I hope you are. I hope you are. It'll be a long winner. It'll be a real kick in the pants that I go from the rallying cry of we can do eight nine. We can do eight nine to. Yeah. Bleep that quarterback. Let's keep a shedore here and let's go ahead and trade up for Jeremiah Smith. I'm ready for those wars even if even it's going to come at a great personal cost. Dancing in the pants. All right, Nick. Well, you know what? The challenge is out there. You responded to it. I thank you very much. I hope you do it this afternoon. Appreciate you guys. Appreciate you. Nick Wilson on the wise heart. Right. We make a right call call right hotline. Speaking of miles. Garrett. By the way, he may be gone, but a spirit lives on on the highways and by ways of Northeast Ohio. Before we go on a speed racer. Guess who agrees with me. Coach Lanes. All right.
Says I'm not sure how many games the Browns will win, but I know they can go one and oh this week and then he gives a whole long detail on his Twitter and I'm not going to read all that. Good luck to your. I'm sorry that happened. But Coach Lance agrees. I'm down with it. I'll read it during a break. I just saw it a second. I'll be walks into his classroom today and guarantees a win to his children. They're older. They could take it. No, that's when they can't take it. Right. I mean, there's the levels of rejection and high season. Teach in high school. Believe so. I don't know what the Ellie teaches. I will say one thing about going to teach life lessons. Well, just one in no weeks. Well, and this will kind of carry over to what we're talking about this segment is I heard Nick Wilson talking again. I disagree with Ross Tucker. I think he would pass a lie detector test. I'm saying eight wins. Whatever. I do think that if you told me right before kick off. Hey, the Browns is traded for miles, Garrett and Jim Schwartz. I'd say, OK, maybe they can win a games. That would change things. I do think until I see it without those guys. It's hard for me to believe the defense is going to be right where it was last year.
That's that's I well again, because you don't have him, which another thing I want to bring up this possible bills offer that Tom Pellicero reported about the coming up at seven 20 as well as a guy who everybody seems to not like and all he's done is make your team better. I want to get into that coming up, but I do think that that is a valid concern. How much I asked Grant Delbert about this in the previous show last night, who's a wonderful player, a really wonderful player. And he's a wonderful interview. We spent 12 minutes. Together, they were absolutely fantastic. He's just I just love talking to him, but I asked him, I go, you're going to run more zone this year because you don't have miles. I mean, let's call what it is like Jared versus fine player, but he's miles miles in one of one. And he said, no, we're going to run. I basically said they're going to run as much zone as they've ran already, which is like, all right, I trust you. I trust Enzel. I want to trust a manual, make Neil Warren, but he's a rookie just a baby.
Miles Harden, sorry, I do not trust right now. Tyson Campbell, that's the reason you traded for the guy. So now I can't, you know, this is one of the things that go with this. I can't just turn into zone all of a sudden, because then I'm creating a problem, which I tried to fix by making the trade for Tyson Campbell, who's played well for you in the half season that he was here. So you can't just go straight zone. If you go straight zone, then we're creating more problems for yourself. So there has to be more men. You got two corners that are both healthy to start the season. You're going to play a lot more man. You have a safety who's comfortable in that. You're going to play more man. A veteran is a seven year vet. Hopefully a man you make Neil Warren's the same way. I'm out of words to say about this one. I didn't mean for the reason started you better get even we start. Nidia talking about coverage is things like that. I got a little co co I got a call coach mark. He knows about the coverages. I just I'm along for the ride on this. I'm more of a trenches guy. You know that. But it's just plain and simple. I didn't trade for you could have just held on to great news. If you wanted to sit there and play zone.
I mean, Denzel can play anything. He's he's an elite one. But now the other guys you got to put them in a position where they're going to succeed. Okay. Well, weak one against Trevor Lawrence. I think you can definitely quote unquote get away with it. I think there's some quarterbacks you can also get away with it this year while maybe you're evaluating some of your younger guys behind your veterans that you know are proven. How do you like that? So it is a schedule that's a little bit advantageous to get away with things because if you have a quarterback who can put it on you. Like yeah, you sit back there and man and you don't have 95 buzzing around the quarter. It's good. But is he going to be like 95? We'll have to see. That is going to create a problem for you if you're just in zone because they're going to slant you to death. All right. That all said can I ask you a question 86 and a 60. Sean Watson did 86 and a 60 was all over the news last night. Do we have to make a big deal about this or we're only making a big deal when when Miles doesn't do it.
Are we forced to make a big deal because it's a bronze player that got caught speeding at an excessive rate. It's always newsworthy. It's definitely noteworthy when these guys are playing around and have the conversations again and do all that stuff because I do think that popularity like you don't want anybody else to possibly affect the safety of anybody else. Nobody wants that. But there is something to be said for you know you have this guy who's this future Hall of Famer who is the cornerstone of the franchise while he was here and freaking out and he did have a serious car accident once. Yeah. Yeah. Us freaking out about that to basically jokes being made on the internet about the Sean Watson going 86 and a 60. Timing of the tweet could have been a little bit better for him, but either way you understand it's always going to be noted. Obviously, Shadour when he was speeding he was over a hundred once he was in the 90s and other time. It's always going to be brought up. There is obviously a a certain number of people in a city. They don't even care about the Browns and when they hear when they hear about an athlete doing this, they want the book thrown at him every time because they know what would happen if it were them.
We may know how much trouble they would get in. What do you mean by that? There's just always people think athletes gets the preferential treatment. I don't think they do more. Well, not nearly. I don't think that it's not nearly what it used to be. That's for sure. But I mean, it's not nearly what it used to be, but you really can anymore when you have body cams and stuff like that. Again, if you was going, I could see if he were going 72 and a six, you're like, hey, slow it down. You know what I mean? You can cut 86 and a 60. What are you going to do? You can't do nothing about it. I mean, the last time Miles got pulled over, I mean, didn't didn't people rip the cop for being a little too understanding. Too nice. Too nice. Did you remember that? Yeah. It happened with shit or two. Yeah, that's another one. People got upset about it. So you can't really cut a guy slide. There is a different like you hear the cops talk to the athletes. They are way different than they are with a lot of normal interactions with people in society. So it's probably possible. Yes. I understand. I think there is a segment of the population that is like you can never take it to easy on athletes. You have to go even harder at athletes because they are influencers.
They set the tone. If you catch them and you actually take them in or throw the book at them, then it would actually cause more people to be safer. There is that thought. I don't know if I believe it. I don't know if I necessarily believe any of that. But people are sick and tired of athletes getting. Especially on bad football teams. If you go to the Super Bowl, I think there is a little more leniency. What it comes to. Honestly, I like. Yeah, but you and I were kids when Michael Irvin was facing jail time, facing real prison. And I mean, we still make jokes about skiing all the time. Like there's still I don't know if that's such a deterrent from committing hard, possibly committing hard crimes or crimes in general. What I'm saying is if the Browns were to win the Super Bowl and the starting quarterback gets pulled over that off season, fans will not care to the level of if they're only 16 0 and 17 fans will care more. It's just I I'm fair point. I'll 100% believe that fair point. Yeah, but I just when I saw it yesterday, I kind of like rolled my eyes went, oh, we got to do this again.
And I saw it. I'm like, man, a lot of people are just making jokes at his expense about 86 and a 60 and well, 86 86 and a 60 is probably a lot more relatable than 100. When guys are doing 100. The the percentage of people in the area that have that will do 100 casually or whatever or who've done it once in their life, it starts to drop exponentially. There are people who've never seen that side of 90 or 100. I'll miss I'll tell you this. It wasn't adjustment when I got in the EV. Like when you because you got a motor going. It's like you can hear the motor throttling up and working harder to get you over 80 to get you over 90 to get you over 100. Like that's why you don't hear nothing and then all of a sudden I look down and it took me like a week to get like, oh, I'm going 87. I better. I didn't realize this like you don't read you just don't realize me a little bit. Yeah. Well, this was a 2022. You can definitely hear that. Yeah. You can definitely hear that power. Yeah. Well, that's it for that. All right.
Coming up at 820. Mary. I haven't got to join us on the show at 745. John wants to know if there should be any criticism that Stephen vote deserves. If things go south on the Cleveland Guardians after what happened about last night and why don't you like the guy? All he's done is make your team better. Can come on and aunt had a line. It takes us we've been working the free audacity out. Coming up at about last night, we say goodbye to a legend also whether or not Stephen vote needs to be called on the carpet. John is quite a takesman when it comes to baseball and people are noticing and I enjoy it. He's got some strong ass opinions. There's a lot of people who disagree with those opinions. I can't say I agree with all of them. In fact, I disagree with most of them, but there's been a lot of people noticing that John likes to certainly bring it strong when it comes to his baseball. And that I support I support a takesman on a sport that we don't sit here and spend four hours talking about every single day like the Cleveland Browns whether we want to or not.
Because you know most people think that we're the ones sending the agenda. And much rather speak about the other thing. Anyway, speaking of another thing, you wanted to bring this up a couple days ago. We obviously got it indated with other news. James Harden gets signed to his official contract. You know, a lot of people outside of Cleveland are much more bullish on the Cleveland Cavaliers than the Cleveland than any Cleveland fan that I can think of right now. And they are much more bullish on James Harden. I'm seeing more than any Cleveland fan I can find and I hope you know usually like by the time the Brown season comes around, people start to talk themselves into it. The Browns, I think are going to be a five win team. You think our four win team will sit here and we'll deal with it now and deal with it later. The Cavs can be good. The Cavs can be an Eastern Conference finals team again. I hope that people start to get themselves going by the time late September gets here early October when they go to Spain for camp. I have seen more optimism nationally that I am seeing locally, which is a really, really weird place to be in that in this city is normally the exact opposite.
Normally this city, there's a lot of people I talk to it's a tomer mode, it's delusion and then the national people have to have to strike it down and say, what are you talking about? I mean, especially when it comes to the Browns, how do we feel about when national guys talk bad about the Browns? How do we feel about that in this case? In this case, it's the local people who are talking bad about our sports team. It's very weird. I can't remember a, they're not a bunch of examples here where I can remember the Zeklow says with the patent wall is signing that the Cavs can absolutely come out of the East. I don't hear that from people locally. Outside of the one show that you have it out with about the Cavaliers and really the one host that you have it out with about the Cavaliers, I don't hear a lot of negative coverage on them. I hear a lot of negative sayings. No, I just hear no coverage. Me honestly. What cover right now? Tell us why they're going to get out of the East. Well, I am. I listen, I can't guarantee that they're not the favorites. I certainly wouldn't pick them to any Eastern conference. But now you have a full season out of this team. Remember, it was just how many games to James Harden play
with the Cavs last year. It was even 30 and in those games that he played, the Cavs were unbelievable. They were on a 60 win pace in March. I know it's the end of the season. So you get some weird, weird results, weird outcomes. But then they backed it up by getting to the Eastern conference finals. And that was just a taste of James Harden where we didn't have any idea what the defensive rotations were because they made such a huge, huge move. There was no other team that made that kind of a deal. And yet it kind of seamlessly worked at the end of the regular season. Yeah, wasn't seamless in the playoffs. They lost a bunch of games. You know, they lost more games than a one because they got swept by the nicks, but the nicks run an all time heater. It's one of the all time runs we've ever seen in the NBA playoffs. I feel like not enough credence, not of credit is given to the run that the nicks just went on. But I get a full season and Kenny Acquinson actually gets to coach his team. And the staff gets to try to develop a real system. Or something they didn't have last. So why do they not like James Harden? Are they just not as in tune with the cast? Because I mean 30 games 30 games last year was a nice sample size. And I thought again, he plays and ever. It's not quite a letter. We're quite a letter. We'll get in street clothes. I mean James Harden is going to use to that. James plays in the games. James made this team better. I understand he's long in the tooth. But what I I failed to come to grips with here is that three years ago. I'm having knocked down dragouts with callers about about Darius Garland. And saying that they're going to have a lot of fun.
And saying that this team as they were is is better was better with Darius Garland on the team. This is before the trade. Right. Then we know that there's going to be a trade that has to happen at some point that you're going to move on. They make the trade where you have a guy who's now injured. Who is a injured injured guard. You want a dynamic wing. They don't just fall off a trees. I can't trade my off injured undersize. He's a fine player. I got nothing against Darius Garland. It's not a knock. It's just the truth. Why am I going to give you my dynamic wing for Darius Garland when he's playing on nine toes. And he says in himself for crying out loud. So I had to get the best offer. And who has been notoriously bad in the playoffs and maybe James not just game sevens. He's been bad in most playoff game. And maybe if I had times maybe James Harden who has also not been that great in the playoffs. But maybe James Harden isn't the best offer I could possibly get if we're calm down. Except we're kind of against it. We kind of had down of a Mitchell where we didn't really know what his future was going to be. We had to make this decision like there's a lot of pressure to make these moves either by the fan base or certainly with Don of the Mitchell there. So you make this move for James Harden. And all he's done in a very short amount of time here has helped me take the Cavaliers more serious as a contender in the Eastern Conference. He clearly made him better. Nobody. Nobody could possibly dispute. Yes, that they're not a better team. Yes. Harden anywhere Darius.
He was disappointed. Obviously everybody's disappointed how the season ended last year against the New York Knicks. But it was like the next day going to win the finals. And the way that he worked with the team on his contract allowed them to bring in what we all think hopefully can be a really legit young wing. He's getting better every day in Peyton Wallace and Peyton Watson in the more time that he got to play. You know, it's looked better and better and better. So I don't know people that don't like James Harden because they're thinking about what he did in game sevens when he was the best player on his team. That's not really relevant to me now, especially when we've seen him beyond teams that have won two game sevens. They did it last year. They beat Toronto. One of the best defenses in the league. They beat Detroit. One of the best defenses in the league. And he was a part of it. Yeah, they didn't get by the next. Guess what? You did it San Antonio. It concerns me. Are they down about San Antonio and San Antonio? I think so. They shouldn't be. It concerns me so much because I don't think that this team is going to stay together for very, very much longer. I just can't.
And eventually you're going to start to liquidate the assets and move on. And you're getting ready for some not so good basketball coming up here. And I just want to enjoy this as best I can. I know I sound like Paul Dolan here when I say it, but damn it. It makes her high. And it's disappointing when they lose, but it's not an out and out more fun franchise. The way I keep hearing from some people about it. And maybe it is a hangover. Maybe it's a, you know, you thought LeBron was going to come back and LeBron didn't come back. And so it made you feel even worse and makes you feel like you're not a contender. I can't control LeBron's emotions. What I have taken them back. Absolutely. It's still taking back. But I still think it's a damn good basketball team. And when James Hardin signs a contract with you. We're still talking about a Hall of Famer here. And I don't think that he deserves like yes, some of the things that he's done. He's been upset about. And I don't think I'd have this perspective. If he still played in Los Angeles or was shipped somewhere else from Los Angeles on that.
I hated him in other cities. I did. I rooted against him. And he came here and I'm like, all right, but he is an upgrade over Darius. So what am I going to root against him now just because I didn't like his plane style five years ago. He's come here and given a professional effort. And he's given a above board professional effort and a good effort. Yes, he has struggled in the playoffs historically. You have to play at a high level to have any thought that you're going to struggle in the playoffs historically at all. I just as much as I like Darius Garland, I don't think he's physically capable of it anymore. And now you're going to play on a team that's not going to be good at all. Yeah. Over in LA. I actually feel bad for Darius. Well, I actually don't. He's in a wasteland. I mean, he's just the clippers are going to be forgotten now. Right now, I don't. Because I do think that Darius, when it comes to winning, judging by everything that we've been told here over the last couple of years. Nice young man. I'm not trying to be mean spirit about it. But when it comes to seriousness, I think this injury may help him in terms of like the lust to win the the yearning to win that Donovan Mitchell lives with that. I think that James Hardin to a certain degree lives with that I think that they're trying to impose on Evan Mobley to go, hey, you got to get it. Like it's not going to last forever.
Legacies are at our at stake here. You're going to make a boatload of money. We already have more money than God. Legacies are at stake. It's a rings culture. And I don't know if Darius got that all the time. Yeah, this was listen, this was a pressure cooker when James came into it was like win immediately. And they did. So, you know, that's not for everybody. That wasn't necessarily for Darius. He played his best when the stakes were probably the least. All calves conversations brought to you by the fine folks to surfside hard iced tea that asked you to please enjoy that surfside hard iced tea responsibly 731 and 49 seconds for those scoring at home. What did you think of the Tom Pellicero. Well, I took it in a different direction than I think most people. It got you just didn't even care. Well, no, I said I like to cap I like the Browns deal. I mean, I like what they ended up getting. Yeah. And Josh Allen, as long as he's on the bills, like I think those first round picks are probably going to be very late for a long time because he seems like someone who's going to be able to play a while and all he does is produce, especially in the regular seasons. So they're going to win a lot of games.
It's a very hard list of the defense, regardless of the running game. Even though now it seems he has a running game. But I took it a different way. It got me thinking. Should we have should Andrew Barry of kind of really put this out there more to see what he could have gotten from other teams too. And I like Jared verse. I'm just saying. Where they're at the different way to look. Where's the other. Remember the story for Andrew Barry was this wasn't something that was in the offing for a long period of time. It's like just kind of came together quickly. And I'm like, I don't know if I wanted to come together. But I don't believe that because there was story that was out there that they've been chasing down miles. Garrett since 2022. Well, yes. Yes. And so I don't believe no Andrew had had talked about that. He met this time in this instance with the same team that's been trying to get him for four years. Yeah. They he they he just thought this came together very quickly. And I'm like, I don't know that it needs a big deal like this needs to come together quickly. And I think they did fine regardless of whether it was quickly or not quickly. I just think the one mistake that I think everybody came back and admitted when the Dallas Mavericks traded Luca was that they didn't do an auction.
They didn't leave it open to the rest of the league. They could have got so much more. I don't know if we could have gotten so much more for miles. He's not a quarterback. He is a defensive player, but he's the best. I don't know what we could have gotten, but that's kind of the point. Let's see what we could have gotten. Now see, this is why you know, you have the benefit of time at the first blush. I know what I was obsessed with when we were talking about trading miles, which I didn't want to talk about trading miles. And it was very short side because I was emotional over it. But I said if we were going to trade miles, I was fixated on three ones. I wanted three ones. Because you're trading miles to get the quarterback situation, right? That's what the hell we're doing here. I'm going to trade away the best defensive player in the history of the team. One of the three best players in the history of the franchise overall. And what am I going to get in return? I'm going to get a bunch of hopes and dreams back. So I wanted three ones. But when the bills call, OK, well, the bills expect to be a deep playoff team every year. OK, the Rams expect the same thing, but I'm also getting a player that I know is going to be top quality back. It's a guessing game in the draft. So when I say these things, I know how my first reaction would have been. I know it had I known that there was a three first round picks type of thing there.
You know me. I know me. They know me. If if made to make a snap decision, a lot of times in a snap decision, I'm going to make the wrong decision. I do think that it's a better deal. If these things are all true, it's a better deal with the Rams because you're getting Jared verse back. You're getting a very quality. You're getting a top quality player. You're going to sign him to a contract. I have him for a long time. I have a defensive leader. A guy who can help change the culture and eventually I have my quarterback. So that's part of it as well. Right now I could take I could take three first round picks. I could use two of them to possibly move up to try to go after that quarterback, but then I'm still left with what on defense. I mean, I have a big gaping hole and then go into this year. Imagine you didn't have Jared verse and then you really didn't have air out. Right because of the injury. I mean, what do we have a defensive end? And they are trying to win some in their trying to be competitive. I understand that we're in this weird purgatory right now of what do we really want to do to we want to be competitive football team or do we want to try to go for the gustome go for the quarterback.
And you could say if you want to really go after the quarterback, you should have taken the three ones, but if they're going to be deep ones and I know that that player is not going to be Jared verse or I believe that player might not be Jared verse. I'd rather just have Jared verse. He's going into year three. It's not like we're trading for a 35 year old past rusher here. So the deal that's better is still the Rams deal when you bring up like kind of auctioning off a player. I think that that could have got really messy and I think they should have kept quiet. And this is what I did say back then is that you probably should keep it quiet because do I want it out there that miles who has a no trade clause in his correct is contract correct. He did have that. I'm not mistaken. Yes. He had control. Okay. We've put together this deal with the bears. Miles don't want to go to Chicago. Great. So now I have this this contract that's next. Now they know that I'm wanting to move on from miles Garrett. And now I have to possibly go to OTAs and go to all these things where miles is going to have to answer questions or I'm going to have to answer questions about miles. I still think it was probably better for the franchise. This is a good deal and it was probably better for the franchise to read the baby. I don't think it needed to get messy. I think he just asked could have been. I mean, he obviously didn't want to be here. So that's the first thing. So you're giving him a get out of jail free card and you get to go to a competitor.
And so you know, the bills, good team, Rams, good team, bears. I mean, come on. They were just in the end of the championship games. You're not so bad teams aren't trading for him. I know that I think you can have conversations. You can be an adult and have conversations and know that yeah, we are we are turning the page here. We're not keeping miles here. But the fewer people that know the less chance it is to get actually get out there. Like just like once you initiate those conversations, you're giving every team a deadline and then going. I'm going to say that. I'm saying that for now, we got to hurry. Like guys in the station and especially Padoen, they started getting notifications like Wednesday before it was actually going down, going into the weekend. Like, hey, the Rams are sniffing around. This could actually be a possibility. You started getting that. But you only heard about one team. It was still quiet until it actually happened. If you get more teams involved, there's a tendency to get messy. And then I have this player that might decide he doesn't want to go to some city. He wants to go to LA. He always just wanted to go to LA in some form of fashion has wanted to be in LA if he wasn't going to be competitive here in Cleveland.
So we made this work and we got a good deal out of it. I think the less time we spend as long as Jared verse plays well. Now if Jared versus and good, then all of a sudden we have to deal with all that what could have been. But if Jared verse plays well, I think the less time wondering about what it could have been for these fictitious trades, probably the better for everybody's psyche. 820 Mary Kate Cabin. I want to ask her about this conversation. And John wants to know if we should throw any criticism in Stephen votes direction after last night. Ken Carmen Anthony Lima about last night and five on the So much can happen around the globe that we never hear of. I really don't get a ****. I mean, I didn't undo with me. I mean, they move the meeting. I didn't miss it. I was just trying to get a sweet haircut. How it is when you win and leave my man. I love you when you lose. It's the way it should be. He's a piece of crap. The kids he sucked. He sucked his whole career. I got a room with some fire. I could please his wife. So now he's the voice.
That sounds really good. But I'm not six five and I don't have the athletic ability to play in the NBA. Now the Ken Carmen show with Anthony Lima gives their thoughts on what you might have missed about last night. Last night got off to a great start for the Guardians. Chase the lottery homer in that first inning after missing the last three games. Then it was all downhill from there. Foster Griffin allowed eight runs in the third inning and never made it out of the inning. I couldn't believe it. The way that you think of a vote not pulling the plug earlier. Was it saving the bullpen thing was he punting the game? Well, me and Meredith thought like I was in a commercial break during the preview show and we're in the back. And I think we're going. Are you going to pull them or what are we doing here? Well, you just let Matt test to continue to get warmed up. It probably wasn't that bad. We were just in such a hurry to pull the guy because the inning was just going horrifically. Well, here is Steven vote post game. We're going to win series. We're going to lose series. It's happens all year. We got to continue to just keep working. We're not going to let one loss or one series lost. Get us down.
We're still right where we need to be. We're just going to continue to work and take each game as it is. We're going to win. Win our next game. Enjoy this off day. These guys have more than earned a good off day tomorrow. And we'll be ready for Minnesota. I just wish it's even. What was that? I just wish he would take a page out of Todd Munkin's book. I kind of what I think he's taking a page of the Todd's Munkin's book. I will like him to be a little bit more honest about where the team stands right now. Yes. Todd Munkin's been really honest. I think Todd Munkin and his late Kiffin were like the disagree with you on that. I think Todd Munkin has been straight forward. I think Steven votes just like. Yeah. It's just it's just like you guys. You guys he has rubbed off on you guys because it's like, oh, yeah, space ball. There's 15 games left. Like there's not that many serious left there. They're only up in the wildcard by one game. They have to be ahead of the blue jeans to get that all cards. Well, he's not rubbed off on us. The the guardians since 2000, the former Indians have rubbed off on us. I mean, that's again, you're you're used to baseball in Philadelphia. We're used to baseball in Cleveland. We are always playing the long game. And yes, that frustrates a lot of fans to hear that because we, I mean, we've basically accepted it.
That this is the reality of the situation. But I don't need Steven vote while the team is still like in a position to be a wildcard team or even still win the division screaming and yelling and ranting and raven about a bad. It wasn't like Foster Griffin was doing an on purpose. It was just a terrible. I wish you would have pulled it wasn't like Matt Festo wasn't going to come in and just give those runs up anyway. Yeah. I'm not really worried about that. I'm worried about like this team. This is the worst season for the American League in ever. Potentially like like if you don't make the playoffs this season, what does that say about your team? Like this is your your in one of the worst divisions. They went super young. They're giving guys young guys rookies and opportunity. But then we had shirt off on last week. Basically, a minute. This is how it's going to be every year. He's like, this is how it is. This is where we're always going to be young. So it's like that. They're not really going to be given an excuse there. I wonder Foster Griffin. He's basically doubled his ZRA since he came here. I put it. It's only been seven starts. But he had struggled to two starts right before the trade. So if you add those two starts in as well.
Did they did they get a lemon here? Because we thought this was an all star. Did we did we end up getting a lemon here? Well, he may have three more starts. The team anyways. So it might not matter. By the way, how many people tuned out after Festo came in? Did you be honest? I was out before he came in. Okay. I when he came in, I was like, all right. That's it. We're moving on. We're going to finish this preview show and get ready for the white flag. Yeah. We'll see you tomorrow night. White flag Festa. That's where it came. And exactly what I said. Go well tomorrow's another day. ESPN hockey and former NHL player and head coach Barry Melrose has died at age 70. Not the biggest hockey fan in the world. I know you guys aren't really either. But Barry was he was a blood face of the sport. And I'll always remember him for that. This is sport center commercial where he's crying during the Canadian national. Did you get to see a lot of Barry Melrose in his in his analysis on sports center and ESPN? That's that's kind of a natural you know him from.
But do you remember because I'm I'm not age is him here. But there's a difference. I don't remember anything really specific. I just remember he had a sweet ass mullet and he was a guy that he kind of made you get fired up about hockey. Well, he drew that. Okay. So John does remember it. So as a guy who has respected hockey and every year, I'm like, I should get into hockey and it never happens. And it probably never will. He had a way of drawing me in. And it wasn't like like grapes cherry was so crazy and off the wall. But you know he's up in Canada. I didn't get to really see him until the very end and then things got weird. Barry Melrose had a way of drawing you in and relating it to where like, all right. If I didn't care before I kind of care. And if I kind of cared I half asked care like there was still an interest. And I thought he was an interesting personality. I thought he made it interesting. I thought he made it fun. Probably the less you knew about hockey. The more you gravitated towards Barry Melrose to put it in simple terms for somebody who didn't know the sport. All that well, now never forget when they yanked the NHL contract for me. That's turned out to be devastating because they stopped covering it on sports center when people were still watching sports center.
So they would go to the Stanley Cup finals and their coverage would consist of Barry Melrose and like some you know anchor face. And that's all it would be that would be their coverage. They would even give him a desk. But like two guys in a hallway. Here's our Stanley Cup coverage and they would roll it out. And it just underscored what a massive hit it was to the NHL when they went off of ESPN that first time. Like I got nothing against John but your grass or any of the other guys that they've ever had or even Emily Kaplan. But like he just he had that there was just something I wanted to watch. And I never tuned out because they were doing hockey while they were doing all the other highlights back in the day. And he's again one of those guys that was able to relate it and he's going to be missed. That's it for about last night. John outstanding as always. You're a wonderful young man. A really wonderful young man. And we appreciate your help during the segment of about last night.
Coming up in five minutes. Yes, I will tune in and yes. Mostly because it's in another country. Ken Carmen Anthony Lama Mary K Cabot 822 on the fan. You saw it or you heard Jeff mentioned Australia. And you think I'm a total idiot for saying this but I'm going to say of course I'm going to tune in just to see a little bit of Australia. So there's no would have been played in Buffalo or who's playing tonight. It is San Francisco and the LA Rams. And I'd be very surprised very played in Buffalo. So if this were played in any city in America, you wouldn't watch your only one. I would watch, but you said then what is this mean? You asked, okay, hold on. Don't act like an ass after we just had an argument about this. A bitter argument on the phone about this two days ago. Don't start switching up on me. I think you were just as mad at me on the phone. Well, I'm getting mad at you because you're switching up the whole thing about what you were right, what you were talking to me about.
Because lime is whole thing is how much is too much football? I'm as a sports talk host who hates the live sports apparently all the sudden too much sports. No, we want to lower the baseball season. We want to reduce the baseball season, reduce the basketball season. Let's have no sports. They've watered it all down. Overdose was perfect for tone. Just done like any of the sports done like any of the games. You would ask. I'd mentioned I'd mentioned the games in Australia. And you said you didn't care. And I'm like, well, tune in to see what it looks like in Australia to where apparently that was a. Yeah, that was just a supreme insult to Anthony Lama when I had mentioned that. No, it's just they've been doing games in other countries for years. They'll show some shots. You know, if you just watch the game, yeah, they'll show you beauty shots from that area. And I will tune in to see what it looks like in Australia. You've never seen Australia before. No, well, not not personally. Not since crocodile. I mean, the wiggles they do a lot of shooting all over Australia. The last seat. I'm not familiar with the wiggles. I saw a door of the weight. What was the finding Nemo. And that ended up in Sydney. That's underwater though.
It's true. And it didn't. I don't get to see much of Australia. Did you say was your take with me the other day that people will tune into this just because it's in Australia? I think they might be a little bit curious and they might tune in for five, 10, 15, whatever minutes. I do not believe that. I don't believe why wouldn't they want to be one more person that would tune into the game because it's Australia. So should you tell post to hear so should you tell Jeff that he should stop mentioning that the game is in Australia? No, well, the storyline of them getting to Australia. That's been the biggest storyline. The trip, the amount of hours. How there the two teams have diametrically opposing views. That to me is the story in the lead up to the game. Once it's a game. It's football game and we'll see whose theory ended up being right. That's a storyline. Obviously, but if they were just if this was a green screen and they were really just playing this game in a studio and Hollywood or New York Stanley Kubrick moon landing wigs. I don't think there would be one more. I don't think it would matter to any of the fans. One Iota.
I was older and would like to punch you in the teeth. I would say had they actually played this at a time where it was so it's a 10 30 local kick off. Yeah, like a youth football game. Yes. If they had played it for the prime time I Australian audience and it became a 4 30 a.m. game for us. I think more people would make a little bit of an effort because the oddity. It's why we like London games at least we've discussed that on this show that you get out of that is not so you wake up and there is football going. You're on the west coast. Yeah, I got a taste of what that's like. I'm like I can get used to this. This is awesome. That's the Australian thing. It kills it for me because it's just going to be on a time that I normally watch football on a week night. It's going to be no different for the fans. It's two o'clock in the afternoon. And we got like it was a day game for a baseball team when you get to get away games. Right. Sometimes that's fun. So all those things go into the general interest of a fan tuning in for five to 10 minutes to see a game played in Australia.
It's 10 30 in the a.m. over there. How do you get to Australia? Well, you always have to go on a very long flight. There's no short flights to Melbourne, Australia. All right. I've been doing out backstake house recently, but I can't say that the cuisine that I'm sure they're going to show in the B roll is anything like it. So I'm sure that like it's it is the reason they do it is to draw general. I want to see how many people actually made the trip. I'm going to see how many people are dying the wool Rams 49ers fans are like I'm going to Australia. We're going on vacation to Australia to go see my favorite team play football like when people say they're going to London to see the Browns, which I would never go to Europe or Australia to see an NFL game. But there's plenty of people who do it. So I know I'm in the minority there. So if I'm in the minority there, I would imagine that there's going to be several people tonight who tune in just to see what it's like to see a football game in Australia, which you're right. It's not like it's going to be 120 yards long and 60 yards wide. It's going to be the same dimensions, but it's held in a cricket stadium.
I think the first part of your sentence is right. There will be people tuning in because there's football tonight. Then you added because Australia. Why would that change anybody's your football fan? You're watching like regardless of where you're going to tune in and you're not going to want to see any part of Australia. You don't care. You do not care at all. No, that's all I'm saying. Show it. It has no bearing on whether I'm going to watch the game. And that was your initial premise is that people will be tuning in because it's in Australia. And I'm saying there's zero evidence to bet on what's the point even having the games out there. If people aren't going to tune in just to see like when I was a kid, this isn't for fans in the United States. They still want to do it. They still want our eyes to watch that. If anything, all the 49er fans, all the ramps, ramps fans are mad. They're mad. This game is being played. But you still want people to see it. If it's for people overseas who live in different time zones, why wouldn't they do it in their time zones? Exactly. Like this is not the NBA playoff. They're trying to expand the footprint of the NFL. That's why I draw that's why. Yes. They got their own football down there. And they over there. They have their own football in Europe. Down under I believe. Down on.
I play any games in Europe. It's not for us. It's to expand the brand. And that's that's the debate right now between. Did you see the spat between the is it the president of the Rams? He was going after the 49ers writer, whatever the 49ers guy was saying, you guys don't care about expanding the sport. And he's like, because they're only going for a day. They're not spending. They're not meeting people. They're not talking to ambassadors. They treat this like the Rose Bowl like the link up. Yeah. That's what the NFL wants that the NFL wants wants the people on the ground there to embrace the sport. Remember like when the calves went to Paris two years ago, three years, and they went like three days early and they did a bunch of convention type of things before the game. Made the game kind of suck really. But I would expect there'd be more convention to it for potential. It's the Europe stuff though. At least you have the travel is so much easier if you live in another country. I mean, who's Australia. What else are you connected to that you can get there easily? Well, we're in a different area. Nothing.
Well, I don't know. I'm flying for many of the other islands in the Pacific to go watch football in Australia. I'm not watching the NFL. That's even a, I mean, even for people in Thailand. Yeah. It's a journey. Yes. If it happened, I mean, if I have to be in the sphere, if I happen to be there, then fine, I'll go, but I'm not going to make these special trips just for the NFL. But my whole thing is is you're not wrong. Not saying this is about your right about the expansion brand. But I'm the only guy who tuned into preseason football in Tokyo just to see what I was liking the Tokyo dome. Like the only person maybe I was trying to watch. Rose. Hi. I'm kick. So, but I'm five years younger than you and they did it like for whatever years in a row. I found myself tuning in just to see what it looked like in in Tokyo. It just seems to me that it's kind of the same wherever it is not in this country. It's just a bunch of fans that are cosplaying whatever team they've decided to root for as a diehard fan of that team.
So they get their face painted. They wear the jerseys. They have no idea who the players are on the team. And they're like, yeah, in Europe, you see a ton of jerseys from teams that are not there. But I need a lot of yeah. So I wonder if it's going to be less of that in Australia and more of the two specific teams because there's I mean, there's a smaller pool to pool from as far as getting people in, you know, expats, especially. I'm sure there's enough to fill up a stadium there of expats, but it's not in the millions like it is in Europe. That's true. They are pro they're both popular teams. I don't think there should be any empty seats, but I just kind of want to see what it looks like in Australia. It got five million people that live in Melbourne. There's five million people live in Sydney. It's like four hours apart. So there's 10 million fans. I mean, there's enough fans. I'm guessing in 80,000 seats. They cricket's pretty expansive. Yeah. They kind of far away from the sidelines. I'll be like, oh, me.
Well, you said, okay, the cricket thing that may be the way to pull me closer to you. Like when they play these games in the soccer stadiums, like, I want to see what that looks like. But that's a that's an interest for like three minutes. Then it's that's a football. Well, is a cricket stadium going to end up being like the the design then for the future like the soccer. Like that's a soccer stadium over there in Buffalo. I mean, the company you know, you know, damn well, that's a premier league soccer stadium over there in Buffalo. It looks exact. If you didn't know it was in Buffalo, you would say that that's in whatever end of London. I don't know. I never been over there. You figured out someone called Paul Brown and tell me which end. But that would look like somewhere over there in London. So I don't want it to turn into that. But maybe they're trying to find ideas. I'm sure it's all like when they play a coach football game that first time it wriggly, you know, or Fenway or Yankee Stadium, like, all right. You've got to see what that's like. And sometimes for the wrong reasons, it's like, oh, they have to switch sides of the field. There's not enough room in the back of the game.
So that's kind of a disaster. All right. That I'm I'm tuning in to see how the teams deal with that. But I don't know is the cricket stadium any different? Are we expecting that to be an issue? I don't think it seems to be cricket. It's a pretty. It's still an issue in 20, 20, but you never expect games to get canceled because the paint wasn't right and things like that. Oh, when they played a basketball game or the first time they tried to play one on a ship. Remember, and then it got canceled because it was too wet. That famous Rams chiefs game that was like 60 to 50 or whatever it was supposed to be in Mexico City. And then the turf wasn't right. And they ended up just playing it in LA. Uh, there is going to be plenty of room there. I just did a cricket field compared to a football field. You will have plenty of space to explore at the cricket stadium. I knew it was pretty big coming up next Mary K Cabot. Has she ever been new, uh, Australia? Does anybody care? There's only one way to find out.
Go and ask for that and also some changes could already be coming to the offensive line. I think people care very much way more about that. And uh, the Sean Watson has already forgot about the Buffalo game, but which one? It's all coming up on the thing. Hi, Browns. Maybe it's healthy as they're going to be all year. Or was that the kiss of death from Todd Monkin right before yesterday where I had one of your offensive lineman limping off, but some people think that could be a good thing to talk about that. And so much more we are joined by esteemed Mary K Cabot Browns beat reporter extraordinaire. Bill none award winner on the wise heart. Right. We make it right. Call call right hotline Mary K. How are you? I'm doing great. How you doing? All right. How much football did you watch last night? I fell asleep by the end of the first quarter. I watched some football. I had the game on, but I was also working on, uh, Jared verse take out a long, long sort of feature that posted this morning.
And I had to get it done. Um, I had to get it posted by 5 a.m. So I was up very late working on that. Well, we did see there was a little bit of news. Uh, yesterday with the Browns offensive guard, Tevin Jenkins, uh, having to leave the field. And what does that mean for this offensive line? Well, he ended up being limited with the back injury and we don't know what it means yet. It could mean that Austin Barber starts in place of him at right guard. So that's something to keep an eye on. If he's not back in practice today, uh, then I think you have to assume that perhaps there will be two rookies starting on the offensive line tall order against the jaguar. Mary K Cabo joining us here on the wise heart right. We make a right call Kyle right hotline. All right. I said that I think we could win on son. Excuse me. I picked us to win on Sunday. A lot of people ask, and why and I gave my reasons why big part of it is that week one tends to be sloppy. I think it was even proven last night with 17 penalties between the two and 150 yards.
Uh, Mary K. What do you think about that? Well, I certainly think it's possible. We have no idea yet what this offense is going to look like. We don't know how it's going to come together. We don't know how to Sean Watson is going to perform. We don't know how this new offensive line is going to work and function together. And now as I mentioned, there might be two rookies on it. So I think it will be tough. I think it'll be very, very tough to win this football game against a team that went 13 and four last year. Uh, but once again, anything can happen on game day. And it's the first week of the season. And if you catch a team in a week moment, uh, maybe you can go out there and feel one. Well, I agree with you on that. You know, the offensive line, obviously that's going to be a concern. It's not because, you know, it was not great last year, but you got five new guys there. You're, you're, you got to get them all moving in the same direction. I think it's going to be a little bit difficult there. So George Warhol has his work cut out for him. So until they go out there and they move better, I can't say they have an improved that the offensive line. But I also think about the other parts where, you know, there's talent there, but they, they're just so thin.
And it's why, you know, a lot of people, they think I eight wins, nine wins, 10. And I'm like, I take them for five wins. But I, I think that they can still be a team that at the end of the season has a bright future because of the talent that they do have. I think there's a range. I think there's a range of games that they can win this year. And I think it's probably somewhere in between six and nine is basically the way that I'm seeing it now. And in a perfect world, in a perfect world, if they get better quarterback play, then most of us believe they're going to get this season, then maybe they could even stretch that a little bit. But I think it's somewhere in between there, depending on how things go. They do have plenty of talent on this football team on both sides of the ball. And really on the offensive side, it's just a matter of a kandishon or can shidor pull it all together. All right, does seem right now, Mary K. And talking to anybody within Northeast Ohio, that the approval rating of the Dishon Watson experience so far through camp and getting named the starter, not very high.
And obviously we know about the things that he said and seemed like he was going at it with the fans and whether there was an apology, putting all that aside. Do you see any kind of pathway to where Dishon Watson kicks off the season and plays good football, good quarterback play that we actually see that out of him in this offense. Well, I do think there is a way that that can happen, but I think it's going to probably look maybe a little bit ragged in the beginning. And these guys haven't worked together enough. If Todd Munkin can devise a game plan where Dishon Watson can feel confident, can feel comfortable, can find some early completions, they can utilize his legs, rely some on the running game, although this is the number one ranked run defense from last season. That's going to be hard to run the ball on these guys. But if they can get some things going early on, if that first script goes pretty well, and Dishon can kind of get into the zone and you can see that and you can feel that with him.
You haven't seen it very much since he's been in Cleveland, but if he can get into that kind of place, then perhaps things can go better than people expect in the first two games of the season. And then maybe he does have a chance to come back here and try to continue to build on that. But it's got to go pretty well in these first two weeks, and I think it's going to be difficult. So what you're kind of saying, maybe you agree with me because I think Brods fans actually do hold a lot of power in whether or not he plays in week three because I mean, he's already admitted that the fans are in his head. And if he doesn't play well in the first two games, I don't think you can bring him back because then I can't make an argument that he's going to be the best option for my 53 man roster. If he's preoccupied with the fans, I think he'll get in his own head and then cost himself and cost us. Well, I mean, I think it's pretty obvious that that the fans got in his head the last time out that the fans are definitely a factor in his mind now in ties mind.
No, Todd doesn't believe that that he should let the fans dictate what happens even in week three, but it really is up to Dishon. He's got to go out there and there's in those first two weeks and he just has to play well himself. Now, he can't control what everybody around him is going to be doing to a certain extent. The rookies are going to have to come up the learning curve. If you have two rookies on the offensive line, they're going to have to have their growing pains. So I think for any quarterback that would be thrown in there in these first two weeks on the road with silent counts with all the new pieces and parts working together with new terminology, I think there will be growing pains. I think it would have been that way for Shredor. I think it will be that way for Dishon. I always felt and I said it way back. I thought that starting 11 should be working together from the start of OTAs, whether if they felt that Shredor was ahead, roll with him if they felt should Dishon was ahead roll with him and it just didn't work out that way. And I just have to wonder how it's going to look in these first few weeks.
Yes, been four years, Mary K that you've been covering Dishon Watson and we know for the first two and a half three. We're really up until recently weren't a lot of availability other than you know when he played the week of and post game press conferences. Do you think he's the same person we talked so much about whether Baker made field is matured over time over there. What about what you've seen since he's been here to Sean Watson? Well, generally it's like that with most quarterbacks that you just have them on Wednesday and then you have them again on game day. And unless it was Tim couch back in the day, most of the time you don't get those quarterbacks many other time. So that is not unusual whatsoever. They protect those guys in my opinion too much just from talking to the media and having conversations where you can actually develop some kind of rapport with them. But I do think that that he's been of course very you know very bothered by just the whole reaction to him and the vitriol and all that gets to him now Baker may feel he's different.
Baker would you know sort of stick the proverbial middle finger up and just move forward and use it as fuel and all those kind of things. I think the fan reaction to Dishon Watson has been a huge factor in you know in his development and in his play and it's something he's going to have to be able to deal with on September 27. Are we past I don't know if we are but I got asked are we past comparing Spencer Fano or any left tackle to Joe Thomas has it been long enough. No I don't think so because they haven't been able to find a suitable replacement for him since then so no we're not past that point and especially because you know Joe still comes around he still helps these guys and you know he is he is the standard and I know that the bar is very very high for anybody coming after him but. When you had someone like Joe then you will always compare the rest to him. I think we had that story come out on Pellissaro reference at the Buffalo bills had made a call on miles Garrett right now is that all we really know is that the Rams bills and what did you make of that coming out right for the season started.
You know I didn't make too too much of it I can't imagine that that there are any teams that wouldn't want to have miles Garrett and a lot more phone calls get made and a lot more inquiries get made then then we know about even around you know cut down day this year there I'm sure there were some calls made. On different players and what not so it doesn't surprise me it's miles Garrett you just have to have the money and the draft capital and if you feel like you can come up with something like that and of course you would touch your hat into that ring so well. Then. Do you think they should have been more considerate of other offers then is that the case. Well in this situation they have been working on it for a long time and they were aiming and gearing towards getting Jared verse back and so unless you have something like that to offer you're not necessarily really going to be in the game and so far as you can probably if you read the story that I wrote this morning little plug there.
Then you can kind of see the wisdom in bringing Jared verse under the football team and I don't know if there's anybody else in the NFL that would have been able to knit together this defense in the aftermath of the loss of miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz the way that he has. What is going to be his challenge for the season I mean I know you gave kind of a law of a wide range of of outcomes that they could have but I you know I pick and five. I'm just picking four that means that there's going to be significant challenges as the season goes on to keep people bought in what's that challenge for Jared verse. Well I do think it will be hard for someone coming from a team like the Rams and then all of the sudden experiencing a team that might not win very many games. But I do think that the defense is going to play well and that's why when I look at four that seems low to me I mean that seems low this is just it's the easiest schedule in the NFL going by records from last season I just don't see for I think that's.
Pretty low I think they're going to win more games than that I would bet the over which again I think is still 5.5. But I think it's going to be tough on these guys and it's going to take a lot of leadership to get them through the tough times and they're going to all have to remember that this is. Arguably I think it is numerically the youngest team in the NFL the future I think is bright but this might just not be the year where they're contending for the Super Bowl you know part of the formula Mary K that I came up with in having such a low total a wins be for the season. Is that they're missing two of the most valuable guys that they had last year which was Jim Schwartz and miles Garrett how do you think that defense is going to look and you think it's going to take some time even though. Schematically they've talked about how the front will kind of be the same what they do with them. That it could take some time for them to play in a new system. Yeah I think it will take a little bit of time but they're using the same terminology they have the same position coaches and they have the same attack minded philosophy.
So they didn't reinvent the wheel here what they're challenged by is the fact that once again they lost 23 sacks from miles Garrett they lost another five from Alex right so your top two edgers are not here and it was hard to fill those positions. Jared verse I think you know he's got some growing and learning to do to get to the point where he can end up with double digit sacks consistently so I think there will be some challenges there but. Rudy's just going to have to be really creative to find those sacks elsewhere they can get them from the interior I still think it's going to be a very very good defense and the place where they can make their hey in my opinion is in take away it's a great equalizer and if they start off with those they will be fine have you ever been to Australia Mary K. I have not been to Australia you're a world traveler i'm actually surprised I thought you were going to get us into a story about the time you did go to Australia that's interesting to me sorry. Yeah yeah do you think people do you think people tune in just to see the curiosity of a game being played in Australia do you think that that's part of the reason people tune in.
Might be part of it but i'm not really sure about that because you don't get much of the culture of the country or the city you know necessarily during the game itself so I think it's really more about football at that point but certainly there's a lot of page entry and what not going on around the game but I don't think that translates necessarily to the broadcast. Mary K. I am bested I thank you for your time. Sounds good take care guys Mary K. Cabot on the wise heart right we make it right call call right hotline she agrees with you hope you're happy. Two peas and a pod you two are you know what is the you are i'm gonna get my what's the instrument over there did did you redo i'm gonna. I'm gonna. Where are you. And then what is their version of the new teller but it's for Australia. The venture might what is it. It's not. Don't they put it on everything. What are you. Put on their potatoes.
You know what i'm getting into it now you know what i'm an embrace it the Sean Watson has put the Buffalo game behind him but which Buffalo game isn't yes I asked a specific question about Joe Thomas for a very specific reason it's. Coming up in five on the fan. What's good to see that the Sean Watson has put the Buffalo game behind him I just don't know which Buffalo game he's put the one set for all there was some. Confusing conversation yesterday here's the Sean Watson's media availability. Here is the Sean Watson's media availability. It's been well since that Buffalo game. Out of your mind which Buffalo game. Precision. Oh yeah I mean yeah that's not worried about that you know we focus on now you know it's about what we got what we can do now.
So it's not about what we were about in the future or in the past excuse me you know we not we're about 24 we're not we're about last year me not playing we're not we're about the preseason right now we got to focus on Jason. Yeah but he didn't even mention the Jacksonville Buffalo playoff game before that or was it after that well funny you should bring it up that's why that's why we're doing this because people are like how do you forget about the Buffalo game. Well the question before that was about Jacksonville's defense and the pressure they can put on him here's his answer to that remember this is before what you just heard. Maybe. Yeah I think so because I think we're a little different. No that's Denzel Ward. It's a different guy I'm screwing this up. That's a goal is to just be able to get off and be a supposed to put a point set by defense out and be able to capitalize and get the win. But you got to be able to take the deep what the defense give us you know this is a very very good team this defense is very strong. They they won the last eight out of the nine games last year they were pretty much close to winning that wildcard game against Buffalo. So you know this is a really good team you got to you know be able to see what they're trying to do the fitness and try to find the weaknesses in their defense.
So we can try to move the ball to get points. Well let me ask you are people attacking him for saying he's passed the Buffalo game or are they criticizing because I think I'm in a position. When you hear it in a one clip instance it sounds like he has forgotten anything that happened associated with that Buffalo preseason game. And that he doesn't remember the booing and getting mad afterwards and the press conference that he had directly after that Buffalo game where his performance was not good. But didn't you hear him just say the Jaguars were really good down the stretch last year one eight of nine and almost beat Buffalo and that has followed up by this. It's been a while since that Buffalo game out of your mind which Buffalo game preseason. He was just talking about them playing Buffalo so he watched them play Buffalo. So he's saying which Buffalo game. I don't think that the Buffalo game that the preseason game is out of his mind. I think it's plausible that he was so fixated on the reaction he was getting he kind of forgot the who the hell he was playing which doesn't bowed well for the future but that's up to him that's out up to me.
I'm trying to I'm I'm doing everything I can to make sense of all this. So I'm not going to rip him not yet anyway for any of that other stuff. Yeah, it's absolutely possible. He was just in his press conference. He does his weekly appearance. They asked him about that. He's definitely watched the Buffalo tape of the playoff game. Why wouldn't you ask andville Buffalo Jacksonville Buffalo in tape. Hopefully he did not rewatch that Buffalo preseason game because I don't think there was anything to glean out of that. Yes. And then Tony asked him about a excuse me somebody asked him about the Buffalo game. He's like, well, which Buffalo game we do you might not know right off the top of his head. I've done that to you. So play a times in conversation. The only explanation for what happened at all in that Buffalo game that I try to come up with. No problem. And it's the only thing that you could hope and pray if you want to show lots of to do well this year and you want the browns to be good. And this still is not going to make anybody feel better. In fact, it'll probably make people feel worse. Is that he went out there in the third quarter. Remember there was our delay.
Should already done his thing. He thinks in his mind he already won the starting job, which he might have. Right. Like looking back. He was probably maybe he was told. I don't know. Like, hey, you're the starting quarterback. And he went out there thinking, I'm going to hand the ball off. Get out of Dodge. I'm not really taking any of this into consideration. I'm not, which is by the way, a losing mentality. You have to go out there. You have to protect yourself. But you also have to play football. So I told you it's not going to make you feel better. But did he put anything into that Buffalo game? I think he went out there thinking he was going to hand the ball off and get out of there. They were going to shorten that game. And he had already won the quarterback competition. And instead he's sitting there on third down trying to make plays. And it went terribly. He played awful. I think everybody in the building, including himself might have been surprised that he was actually going out there in the third quarter. Because I when they had the rain delay and everything, I go, no, they're not putting them out there. I was surprised. I thought he wasn't going to play. I was surprised. Yeah. But again, it sounds like an excuse. It is it. It's terrible. Doesn't make me feel any better about to show Watson.
I guess I would write. If I, if you're Todd Munkin, I'll defend Todd Munkin on this. You'd rather keep a guy playing who you told was going to play. Then have to tell two guys that you didn't think they were going to play and you told were not going to play. Hey, you got to go suit up. Like that. We did that with Doryn Thompson Robinson in a game that mattered once. And then he really suited up to yes, he did. And I thought of that as I said that to you. And then the next part of that is wait a second. You said it was a quarterback competition. Then you didn't even play to Sean Watson in that game. So you had this thing all lined up, which is kind of what I think anyway. After after I'm not saying he has my made up at the beginning of camp or anything that you know, I think he was leaning the direction. I think he was leaning that way. Yes. And nothing that happened in that Buffalo game was going to change anybody's view in terms of the coaching staff. I agree. It was going to change any view. No matter how well she should or played. And he did. He played really well. 216474492. Can I just play something real quick here? Yeah. All right, Mick, because I want to ask you if I'm being too sensitive. Hit it.
No, I don't think so because they haven't been able to find a suitable replacement for him. So no, we're not past that point. And especially because Joe still comes around. He still helps these guys. He is the standard. I know that the bar is very, very high for anybody coming after him. But when you've had someone like Joe, then you will always compare their rest camp. I asked the question about comparing Spencer Fondo to Joe Thomas and not doing it. I don't think you can. And I don't want to. It's been almost a decade since Joe's played. Like, do we keep comparing. We might have. Do we keep comparing on running backs to Kevin Mac and Ernest Biner. Or did we kind of like, OK, we just need a good running back. And then when Nick Chubb was good enough running back, we were compared. He was so good. It's like, all right, you're Mac and Biner. Oh, you're really Jim Brown now. Like this is something else. Like can we just be like, hey, we need a good lot left tackle. They're they come from a different cloth. One is a classic left tackle. The other one can play in a lot of spots across the office. I mean, I think, you know, after Ozzy, I think it was always can we find a tight end? You get spoiled into these things. And Joe Thomas, I mean, the reality is, Kenny, I think you know this.
What are the odds we ever have anything approaching not not anybody is good at him. I'm saying approaching where he was so dominant, so tough on. There was like one guy every year that would get the best of him. And it wasn't even a great elite player. It was always somebody that just matched up in a in an interesting way that he kind of struggled with. That if he had more tape on him, he probably would have dominated. Well, there was nobody's coming close to that the rest of our lives. And the reason I ask you is because I don't want to keep making the comparison again. It's been 10 years, almost 10 years, been almost decade. You do yourself at service. Jed, Jed, Wells did not do himself any favors, but the constant scrutiny in comparison that I was absolutely complicit in the constant comparison to Joe. I don't think helped any matters whatsoever. Like there's there can only be one Joe Thomas. There could only be one Jim Brown until there's a guy that's a comparable player. And I it does it. It's not going to do me any good to sit there on Sunday. Well, Joe, what I've done. I know that. Like that's not going to help out anything at all. And it's unrealistic for me to do that. And I think it's unfair. I didn't realize my credibility was on the line. I didn't realize that any credibility in the first place when I tell you that the Browns are going to win on Sunday. Can Carmen Anthony Lime at that in five in the
20 minutes from the University hospitals of sports. We are sports radio 92 three the fan. I didn't realize my credibility was on the lot. I didn't realize that credibility in the first place. Hey, you're right. I'm going to join us at eight 20. He'll make that joke tomorrow. Is when Darrell joins us also Nathan's girl 9 a.m. to preview the Browns and Jackson. I said early in the show. I'm picking the Browns to beat the Jaguars week one Sunday. This coming Sunday. I'm picking the Browns to win. Well, that'd be the biggest upset of the weekend. And Lime immediately jumped on me. And I'm sure a lot of people who for whatever reason are tweeting in Lime and not me to stick it to me. Are you getting a lot of people saying course same old sorry. I can. Is that what they're doing? Honestly, there was a little bit at the start. But I think people genuinely. Yeah, they had to go to work. And so now we got new people to talk to and they're going to think I'm full of it too. I can explain why I think they're going to win. I think there is always a.
They're going to feel a need for some not necessarily home cooking, but like. Alright, guys, come on. The football season is starting. We don't like the quarterback. You don't like the quarterback. But it'd be really cool to celebrate a win and have us on the highlight shows. I don't like the situation any better than you. And have people talk favorably about our football team in the direction. Think about it this way. If they come out and they pull off the upset 9 1 1 2 half points underdogs, whatever they are. And they win. I think people will at least be excited about Todd Monkin, Casey Kisepsion, Boston fan in. Kisepsion Kisepsion. There's no. There should be. I say Kisepsion. Like I say other words like issue Kisepsion. There you go. Okay. What are you saying that you have a good running game that the offensive line is clicking that the defense doesn't fall off a cliff without Miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz. It sounds like a big game to do all this stuff though. But we but that if they pull off the win. It sounds like you are begging them to do all these things. You expect none of it. And if and if it happens. What? But the difference is I think there's talent to do a lot of that stuff that I just talked about.
There have been years like we don't have the talent to pull off any of that. So you asked. Because you say I picked them to win week one every year. Yeah. I will answer you that I think that it's the most likely game that a knock so great football team can win. I think I treat this like I would a wild card appearance. Let it ride. We'll see where it goes. One other note. No, team that's made its first wild card appearance. Not like the bills who are like this is ridiculous. We shouldn't be playing in this game. Well, not like that. One other note. Jeff Tanshek 19 loyal listener. The show while he's also doing his reports. What do you say he said he got a thought of the background. He does. He said he's got all the other people listening. He said it is going to be 90 degrees with a heat index of one hundred. Oh my god. Although have the cooling fans down there. Right. They got the pool that you can dip into right. Well, you can't go jump it in there with your football equipment on that's probably what you're missing. They need that. They should have it as an honor. Are they getting rid of the pool when they redo that stadium.
Get rid of that stupid pool. I think they're going to large it. I think that will be a bigger part of the city. Get rid of that stupid pool. Or at least you know what you can do. At least put up some sort of partition between you and the bottom half of the people that are in that pool. Well, I don't need to see it. It's not going to swim up red zone. Well, that action might be kind of fun. There's no way in hell I'd ever get in that pool. You know, many things are filthy in an NFL stadium in the first place. You guys want to go jump in that pool. You're crazy. Well, where would you rather be? Would you rather be a distanterium that pool? Getting a brawl in the 500 section or in the pool where everybody seems. You know what? I'd rather be in a brawl in the 500 section. Then be in a pool where I can get syphilis and Jacksonville. We have not seen a fight breakout yet in that pool. There's always a first time. I'm sure we've seen a fight break out in the pool. Anyway, you asked if it affects my credibility. Ask him again. Well, I wanted to know if Jim and Syracuse said I was crazy. If every year Ken says, hey, I'm coming around. I think they're going to win the opener.
I think they're going to win week one. I don't think they're going to win a bunch of games. I didn't pick him to win eight games this year and say it was the freaking Shangri-La of the season. The way that they quit. But Nick didn't pick him to win the first two games either. So again, they're going to go into but somehow there's streak to win eight games. But we're still going to talk about quarterbacks. Then they're going to go on the show. He came on the show this morning. So you get you guys can go back and use the rewind feature and listen to that because I still don't understand how we're going to start. And two. And then you're saying that next year we're picking a quarterback, but should or Sanders is going to take us to eight wins. Because if she nor Sanders takes this team to eight wins after you start out. And two. I don't think we're talking much about the quarterbacks. Am I wrong? It becomes the Baker Mayfield thing all over again. Why do you want something that you think is better? It's two in a hand one in a bush. We do that. We'll do this all over again. Baker may feel had dedicated fans. Should or Sanders has dedicated fans. So to Nick's own logic. And yet he explained it. And I was nice to him, but it still just doesn't make any sense to me. He says he'll fight people over the offseason about taking a quarterback. All right. But if should or Sanders takes this team that I just said has holes gaping holes after the starters. And they're going to need these guys. All right. I'm not talking about week one here. Hope put that on the show for just a week. And week one I heat index of 100. And he is making fun of because it's Florida.
He says that's every day in Florida. Well, yeah, but we spend every day in Ohio. And so of the browns over the last time any week. So there's not really a lot of time you can spend down in Florida. And less during the last two and a half weeks when you had the off days, they all flew down to Florida and just sat there in the heat to maybe acclimate themselves to it. Whether it plays a factor. And we thank Jeff Tanchek for listening to the show and checking in with us about that. But damn it. What I'm pointing out is you don't disagree with by the way, right? No. Okay. Do you know what I'm asking you about the disagree? Yeah. I don't blame you looking over there. 216474 to below 92. The reason I say they can win week one. Excuse me. The reason I'm picking them to win Sunday. Yes. Part of it has to do with just the odds of week one. The Raiders, who are the number one overall picked this year. The Raiders. The Raiders were terrible. We beat the Raiders. We barely had to come up with a game plan. It was almost like they were trying to lose to us. The Raiders went out and beat New England week one last year. Seattle lost week one last really weird results. And it really going to the same. We've seen the Caroline. I think there was the year the Caroline Panthers went one in 15. I think they won week one and then proceeded to lose 15 games in a row. Like week one is crazy. And it doesn't really matter. The generation.
Week one is a wild card. So if they can eliminate that if they do what Todd Munkin is freaking out about, which is eliminate bleepie football. Eliminate pre snap penalties like illegal motions and like things you should know things that you are grown adult football players. You guys should know we shouldn't be stepping into this. Like that was where I'm thinking like last year. I'm like they're not paying attention to Kevin anymore. This is a sloppy as it gets. I don't care what you're talking about with personnel. And when I talk about personnel for this game, there's healthiest are going to be this year. You will start to get unhealthy as the as this game on Sunday goes on. So hopefully they they're able to make it through practice today and tomorrow. Everything's going to be hunky Dorian just fine with our main players. But as of right now, what do we got? We got Tevin Jenkins with a back injury, but he was limited Parker Brailsford with a thumb. He was limited. Malik Collins. I think was limited with a quad injury, right? This is this. This is as healthy as they're going to be. There. Yeah. So they're all there for you. It's a chance to get after them. Maybe you're again, I don't know how much zone they're going to play. I don't know how much man they're going to play. But I'm telling you, I'm not you could put me to the test each and every week. If you want to and put me officially on the mark.
There's going to be a lot of set Sundays. I just don't pick the Browns for a plethora of reasons that we haven't even seen yet. I am picking the Brown Sunday for all those reasons. I just stated. Yes, you can win and yes, I think they will. As long as we run the ball a lot and can run with effectiveness. I can make second down, not second and 14 second and manageable like second and six or second and five. Can make the case 216 474 0092 quarterback shot puts the football. I trust him for five yards. I'm not sure for six. By the way, just as a quick aside, a lot of low crossers by our rookies. I just watched a video yesterday of Baker's last stealer game. Was it his last game in a Browns uniform and big Ben was on the other side. You want to talk about shop putting a football. I know. Holy cow. He was so bad. And we lost that game. Yeah, we did. I think they played like renegade like three times. I swear I heard renegade more than once. It's a bad night. Real bad night. The office. That was the week after the Christmas day. Disaster. The four interception. Was it. I thought so. Yeah. That was that same.
Yeah, I think. I think TJ want played like six plays and had four. Yeah. Remember I had four. I had a fever because I had COVID because somebody came into the station with COVID and gave it all to us because he wanted to be a self-proclaimed. He wanted to be a selfish bastard and he gave us all COVID for Christmas. So I had to sit there because I wasn't going to sit there and watch him throw four interceptions without drinking. So I had a thermometer in one hand and I had a beer in the other and I was taking my temperature as I drank. And we're not doing coming in hot tomorrow for obvious reasons. So don't even start with the gubernatorial race. 216474 0092. Stop laughing and ain't funny. You're laughing. I was pissed at you. I didn't keep laughing. I didn't do eight hours of radio. I had a fever. I had nothing else other than a fever. Nothing that a fever. And I'm running about 99 degrees. And he starts throwing picks. Because he just wanted to be the hero that day.
He just had to be the hero had to do it. Okay. We had to deal with Baker's fantasy land. But then again, where are the ones who are wrong in that year? Okay. Got it. I didn't want to move on from 216474 0092. Dominic. You can get paid. Congratulations. Hello, Dominic. Hey, at first I was thinking, hey, that's a refreshing way to cool off with a swimming pool at a football stadium. But then you think about it. People are drinking heavily. Think you think the urine content and vomit content is like. They get out of the pool. The filter. The filter. You got to look at the filter. They're not getting out of that pool. Dominic. Thank you very much for the call. Ain't doing that. Thank you for weighing in Dominic. We needed that. The truth is being told here by Don. But he thought about it a little more. People are saying that you can get gone or in a pool. I don't know if that's true. Can you get gone or in a pool? Not my area of expertise. It isn't. Pools are gone. I'll answer that off the air.
216474 0092. So did I talk you into taking the Browns and week one against the Jaguars? I'm out to cover. How about that? To cut? That's not good enough. They don't care about covering. Well, Richard, I thought they were going to get blown out now. I mean, now cover. Let's go. You want to get real crazy. I mean, okay, put your money where your mouth is. I'm not betting on football. Why would you not if you think they're winning the game and getting nine and a half points on the brown. I'm handling a general. It's going to be up to 11. No. I'm only seeing eight and a half here. If I've been if I've been increasing it every time I mentioned it. I start now and then I won't stop. And then you're going to talk to me like Nikki and Casino about putting the heat on because I've been betting on the browns on you. I'm saying that he does it the beginning every year where he increases the win total. You do the lie. Yeah. All right. Did I talk you into thinking they're going to win on Sunday? I'm not trying to do some sort of a weird thing. I sincerely believe the Browns will win on Sunday. I'm pick. I won't guarantee it because we know what happens when I guarantee things. I burst blood vessels in my face. But I sincerely believe that they're going to win.
2164 747-192 also my wife's a travel agent. I think I would know the Rams are making a mistake today and John is learning a lot about Cleveland baseball. I think it's about to find out that we do share a lot in common with Philadelphia when it comes to football. It's all coming up on the fan in the next 40 minutes. But that coming up in five on the fan. Back in the fan. Because of the mild scare thing here in a second. Social media reactions on X or brought to you by. Five and Jillers cleavage from your jewelry store. They're all remembering the day that I guaranteed the classroom full of kids that I that the Browns were going to beat the Raiders two years ago. Somebody wrote that it's their bio and sure as hell can Carmen once guaranteed a Browns win to a classroom full of kids that we lost.
That's on client underscore Nick congratulations on all my success. I guess damn it. I think they're going to win. I'm not going to guarantee it. I think they're going to win. It's week one. Guys, it's a it's a crap shoot. Danny saw some Browns practice video recently. There's dare I say some zip on the show Watson's throws. Uh has he has he the entire time been working his way up to now is he fully healthy and ready to roll are you saying he was saving zip. I'm just saying what I am seeing is some zip on these passes. He did that in the Buffalo game. We're not talking about Buffalo game. We're past that Kenny. You're living in the past. Which game you're talking about? That was the game that we said it kind of look like he was treating like real football. Here we go. It's real football this week. All right. Just making sure hey you know what I'm making a argument to think it wins. So I'm going to shut up by the way. Lime you just reminded me I totally forgot my was here. It's playing tonight. Yes. Yes. He did make the trip. I also think that the Rams are making a tremendous mistake.
Should you be trying to win every single game you're playing because it feels like they're just kind of like well. We're going to treat this as a fourth preseason game. Why are they showing up 28 hours before they're ready to kick off at 10 30 in the morning in Australia. Yeah. So this is incredible because not only has McVeigh changed the way that everybody looks at preseason now and the way that people conduct their business in preparing teams for the season. Now is he going to do in the regular season two like we're not really worried about this game. What I what I love about Sean McVeigh and I do mean this I I think some people hate him. I don't know why people hate him. He has it seems to be the somebody did a poll on he's one of the most unpopular coaches in the NFL. Wow. I don't know why I maybe it's because we in the NFL. It might just be because we in the media makes such a big deal because he seems like a savant he remembers every place of a crowd and all that. Yeah. They get tired of like trea it's not Travis Kelsey. It's that the news stories I always have to keep bringing up when he buys a house or
Farts in church or whatever I have to keep talking about it. So because you have to keep doing it in a noisem. That's why people get mad at us for having to talk about bounce quarterbacks and sensibly. But what he does what Sean McVeigh does is gets somehow gets the leadership that we all crave we had in our football teams. Gets the buy in that we all crave we have in our football teams. And he's able to do it and I don't know if any other team can they don't play in the pre season and you know it's a copycat league. So they didn't play in the pre season and they're successful. We're not going to play our starters in the pre season. All these guys are going to do is get hurt and get us fired. We're not going to play these guys in the pre season. And then what do we hear at the end of the year? Well, that pre season where it was camp cupcake they set the tone and that's not just in Cleveland. That's everywhere. It is a storyline. Yes. Well, we're going to hire this to 30 year old coach and he's going to be great. We're going to hire a guy off his tree and he's going to be great. No, Zach Taylor in that great. And there's been some young coaches out there who have fallen by the wayside here over these last couple of years.
So he does it in a different way. They go out. They make a they make a very bold trade. They got 11. The 11 captains on their football team. So it doesn't surprise me that a team is able to do things that other teams aren't. Which is not playing the pre season. Not do certain things show up a day before a game in Australia that's being played in the morning in Australia. And somehow they're just able to get away with it. It never it never seems to bite them in the ass. They trade away all the picks. It doesn't matter. It never comes back to the ball. I won the Super Bowl last year and they are the team that I'm telling you if you are if you are taking cues from them. I think you're signing your own pink slip. Because they're just it's just a totally different atmosphere there than it is everywhere else. Miles Garrett big leader maybe all of a sudden did become a big leader wouldn't surprise me that they were to brainwash him into being a George. A figure for the L.A. Rams. It would be amazing. And it wouldn't surprise me. But you're going to be watching Miles tonight. You said you're actually surprised to be there.
Yeah. Well, just because he's barely practiced. Aaron Donnelly. I don't think I'm going to be there. Yeah. Aaron Donnelly didn't make the trip. And look, I do think the storyline is going to be obnoxious tonight. They better they better be careful netflix because if that's all they talk about then it's going to it is going to undercut you know the actual football of you know one really good team and another team. The 49ers that they've just gotten old and I'm a big believer in Shanahan. But this team is old and the Brock pretty conversation is going to be interesting this week. I wonder how much miles Garrett we're going to hear because to me if you know Aaron Donnelly's not going to be there. And miles is going to be looking to get sacks like we've seen offensive coordinators play miles right out of a game. Uh huh. Unless the Rams have a lead down the stretch and then it's going to be the miles and everyone's terrified to see we got to jump back into this football game. I I totally forgot I got to tell you I totally forgot that he's going to be playing for the Rams. I did because I'm so bronze focused about and I'm honestly I'm focused about trying to win an argument and tell people that I think the bronze are going to win on Sunday against Jacksonville.
Which I do firmly believe they will I'm picking them to win. I totally forgot he's going to be there. It will be a little bit surreal to see them to see him in that uniform today tonight. Even though it'll be in the morning. There's something tells me he'll look bigger just because because he's on a he's in a youthful. He's on a team that's not for success. More intimidating. We used to say that all the time about the Steelers. Yeah. Just because you were a Steelers jersey automatically people think you're better than what you really don't take that anymore. By the way, that has eroded over time, even though they still win enough games every year to be for the playoffs. But I don't the mystique is gone there with the Rams is totally different. You you could put all sorts of bad players in those jerseys. I'm just used to them winning now. Two one six four seven four to below 92. I want to remind John of something coming up here momentarily. However, Josh Heinz Allen. This is audio courtesy. What station is it again? By the way, that's down there. Keith just sent us the audio courtesy. I think it was a press conference, but I still want to get it right anyway. Of the station that was sent down there. 10 10 XL 92 five. That's their flagship down there in Jacksonville. Here is Josh Heinz Allen on stopping the run against the Cleveland Browns.
The last time you went against an offense led by Todd Monkin, it was 2023 against Baltimore. They had over 250 yards on the ground. Are you expecting that play style to translate over to Cleveland as well? It's not going to happen. Armada was to stop the run. So by any means they're not running the ball that much on us. I expect coming out running the ball. I think his philosophy, he seems to game. Yes, I expect that, but two hundred and thirty yards. That's not happy. So respectfully. I'm going to ask you really stupid question on purpose. Does anybody in this room or anybody listening or anybody on hold right now? Thanks to Sean Watts to get through the team on his back and go in there. I mean, that's. Is there anybody who thinks they can do that? Okay, so. Not right now until we see it. Not right now. If what Josh Heinz Allen says is true, which is team that was number one against the rush. I think last year. Oh boy, I'm going to sound like a real big idiot on Monday. Oh, giving netty gritty right now. What does that mean if they are coming and gearing up to stop the run? And that's all they are focused on because they don't think Watson can beat them. What are the wrinkles? What are the things of Brown's can actually go? What break down some football? You want some football? Let's get to it. You can ask Coach Lance about this. It's the same reason why Dylan Samson looked better when he first like started becoming the feature back after quench on junk. It's got.
Yes, because they were like, Hey, number 10 is the threat. We need to circle number 10. We eliminate number 10. We don't respect the pass. If they circle number 10 again, when Sean Jenkins is still number 10. If they circle number 10 again and they stop the run. Do you believe that Deshaun Watts and could put it on them to keep him honest. Now you have better wide receivers. But we don't think he can sit in a pocket. Exactly. Feel a pocket. No one he needs to get rid of the football and then deliver an accurate strike down the field that gives his wide receiver a chance. Having some evidence of that. I've an offensive because my whole thing with an offensive line hasn't played together much. Yeah. Like you run the football because it's easier to go forwards and it is to go backwards. So I run the foot unless I have my homes behind him. I'm running the ball. Does the RPO stuff at all give them a chance. I know Zach did not think that he has a requisite athleticism anymore or the mobility. But I said did see once I saw I'm going to have to I did see him take off maybe a few times in the preseason where I'm like all right.
It's still not to because if he proves that he's any threat whatsoever, then it's something I have to bracket during the game and unlock during the game. And I like I'm sure they have spent some time going well he can still be an athlete. How much of an athlete. I just wouldn't bet against a team that I'm playing and take it lightly that oh yeah. I'm going to have him prove that to me and let instead of me just assuming if I'm running the defense of the Jaguars. 216474 to below 92. This guy thinks that the Sean Watson might be able to throw the team on his back. JJ and Cleveland. You're next up on the fan. Hello. Hello. Good morning. Fellas. How y'all doing? We're doing wonderful. JJ. Go ahead. First off, I'm going to start like this. We don't back every quarterback we didn't have that. Including the Sean Watson. You know, it don't matter if they talk short. Old coming out of college old 40 years old or young. Just because it's the Sean Watson. He's still strapping up and got brown and orange.
You know, and he won a 32. That's starting and he starts our team. He used to be good. But for some reason we crit. He can everything remotely bad that this guy. What do you mean for some reason? You know, no, no, some reason. You know, all the reasons. JJ don't be silly on this radio station. No, I love this show. I thank you all the time. If you call the time and you listen all the time, then you know that it just for some reason. Earlier today, I mean, not earlier, but not too long ago. Y'all was it was whatever press conference he just did about the bus. Come on. We know he ain't forgot about us booing him at home. I know that. And you know that. But you know, damn well. It's not just about some reason. Yes, he's been horrible. Yes, but we could we could take in a third quarter of a preseason game that nobody cares about. Even if he would have went out there and lit it up, we would have said he lit it up. I swear to God on my dead mother. That's not what that was.
JJ, you said he listened to the show. That's not what I was about. No, I know I also heard somebody just say they saw some passes. He was pretty crisp. That was me and I'm going to say that. He ain't got our number Jacksonville Trevor Lawrence sunshine. He do not got our number. We might have go down to Jacksonville. Whoop on them. Then we're going to go over the Baker Mayfield. And he might just show Baker Mayfield why they chose to spend 240 or whatever on me. Yeah, all right. You know what I'm saying? You might just do that. If you ain't working on it. No, no, no. No, no. I'm going to be down there. We're going to be down there. Gay three and we don't turn up. What are you going to do? What are you going to say if the guy next to you is booing? What are you going to say? What are you going to do? What are you going to do? What are you going to do if the guy next to you is booing? I'm going to listen. I'm going to laugh in his face. I mean, if we're doing bad, yes, he got a reason to boo. But it's don't come out just booing right out the gate. Don't do that.
Just we might, I mean, if you come back to and out, you know, boo. No, they're going to come back to and out. They're not a boo. All right. If you come back one in one, are we going to boo? I'm only saying when we want. I can't say they're going to win week two. Listen, I know I personally, I don't know, but I believe that the browns win week one. Well, the will be on something. That's a bill. A beta man who that's a bill. A beta. Bb them. Bb day. But all the time. Bb them in the trade for the quarter back receiver. Tell me, I mean, you're a fever. If he told me he's wrong, I said, I said, I'm a traveler. Tell me. You can't. Hello? Thank you. What position is Travis on a plane this week? Either is he doing either long staffer or back now? He's just a corner and they took him what? No, he's listed on that offense of depth chart, buddy boy right there. Number 12. Oh, so he's going to be the tailing green of the Jacksonville offense.
He's just a corner. It doesn't say that on this on this depth chart. That's officially released by the as prepared by the PR staff of the Jacksonville Edwards on our depth chart. Tailoring green is listed as a quarterback. Well, when he takes off running. Yeah, but they don't have enlisted as a running bag. There's not or tailing green on the running bags. They got they have they have Travis Hunter on both these things. This way. I believe you. It's like what I say Daniel Jones is the best running back playing quarterback in the NFL. For now, but when they mark him as a quarterback, I got to say he's a quarterback. And they marked this guy as both wide receiver and corner back. You know what I was going to say something to the microphone that's four letters. It starts with B about Travis Hunter, but then I realized we're going up against him on Sunday. Maybe I need to wait a few days. I don't do that. Actually do do that. Should I? Yeah, because if it's not true, at least I got somebody who takes the heat off of me. Like if we lose and I take all the heat, that's not going to be fun.
But if you're saying they're calling them a bust, I can throw it in your face. Lime wants to call a bust and won't say it. Call my bust. I thought it was boy. I'm saying what you're just saying. Tell everybody here. I was calling them a bust. Say it now. Give me a few days. No, say it now. I ain't no few days. We got fine. Travis Hunter and Andrew Barry was on top of this and I predicted it. He's been an absolute bust and I think it will continue to be a bust. Pick your position. Who are you? What are you? Are you even good at either? At an ethical level. I didn't see it last year. Bust. Can I write lines up for you so I don't say I'm on the air and you do. We had Mason Graham last year. He was not a bust. That's me talking about a Michigan man. That's the one good guy they had from that alleged national champion team. Are you from none or might forget it? 26474 to below 92 coming up in five minutes or young MC Busta move.
John is learning every day about Cleveland baseball. He's from Philadelphia, by the way. He's about to learn that we are not so different when it comes to football. They're fans and ours and I'd be pretty upset. And if she did this, I'd be even matter, but it ain't my wife. Can Carmen Anthony Lyme alive in the fan? He's got a score to touch. I was listening. So we like to ask John because he's a producer and as we've all learned the story, you're a producer. Produce. And John sent his ideas for today. And John had written, sorry, I sent a poly one. It's me and Bust Lyme early. And I had to go find it. If and went, well, here we go. If the browser is bad as we think they'll be at what point will fans turn on monkey and at what point will patients run out this season? And my thought was, oh, he's used to us arguing with him about the guardians. He's not used to us arguing with him about the browns.
Because John came in after brown season ended. John, like you are in a different mark. You're from a different market. You're from the Philadelphia area. You're a Philly's fan. The Philly's paid Bryce Harper what 400 million us three hundred and thirty three hundred and thirty million dollars. That's how a lot of my Wayne Payne nobody three and three million dollars. Okay. It's a different set of circumstances. It's a noise. John, I can tell you're annoyed by how patient we all are about the guardians that we don't sit there and scream at vote over decisions. We don't treat him like you guys treat Rob Thompson or anybody else who's been the manager of the Philly's. I know he hasn't been the manager in mind. But anybody who's been the manager, I know that you guys are different there. You play by a different set of rules. It's a team that can spend that type of money. With the browns, it's they're very close. It's a I've been told Philadelphia is a meaner, larger version of Cleveland when it comes to the football fandom.
And I do think that if Sean Watson goes out there and sucks up the room, you are going to be really surprised at the phone calls you screen on Monday morning about Todd Monkin and about this whole thing. I think it's going to be a eye opening experience. If people were done with Stefansky one game in. Oh, we had a call. We had a call that we the game we beat Buffalo and it always comes back to Buffalo somehow today. We beat Buffalo. Freddie Kitchens was head coach. I'll never forget six or three first call of the box that were loaded in. Josh Owens out there. I think it was this rookie year played like garbage that day. Might have been year two, but he was really all over the plate and played like garbage. We use all over the place we beat Buffalo. First call of the box was about firing Freddie Kitchens. I remember the San Francisco game when they made the playoffs and PJ Walker went up again San Francisco right here at the stadium. That's right. Yeah. And they somehow somehow gutted away to a victory first call out of the gates. Stefansky.
The Tampa Bay or not Tampa. The Tennessee game where the Sean Watson went on boot and tripped. And we still won that game into Sean Watson look good in that game. First call of the box out that game is about firing Stefansky. Yeah. So it is a default. Yeah. I'm not saying it's unique to Cleveland. Um, but I think it's a little harsher here than it is in a lot of other places for that. Now look in Philadelphia. They win super bowls and then want the coach to be fired. They won super bowls recently. Historically. MVP's and they want the backup quarterback to start after two bad games. Yeah. And they're, but I'm never going to knock their passion. I call them psychotic. It's a bit silly. It's just a larger Cleveland. It comes to that because they are they not they feel like their second fill third fiddle to, you know, New York, Boston. Um, they kind of feel that way. They don't feel like they're in the same. They don't get the same respect that those cities get. I mean, not in the NFL. I feel like people think the giants and the jets are an absolute joke. I feel like it's more. I mean, it's a sports market though. When it comes to, but I'll just say when it comes to sports, especially football, I'll take silly, but emotional instead of.
Dower and act like it does it like I've caught a little bit of hell for saying the Browns are going to win only five games. It's like, yeah, it doesn't take a whole lot to be negative about the Browns. It's a hard thing to be positive. And so I understand maybe where some people are going with it, but I'm like, hey, I've been pretty positive about the Browns my entire career. And my entire life. And I still think that five wins. I'm going to find silver lining in five wins. But there's plenty of people that are down and it's because of who's playing quarterback. And if that guy goes out there and he's terrible on Sunday, I'm going to get a bunch of nasty tweets. And then I'm going to get a bunch of nasty calls and you're going to feel a bunch of nasty calls. And they won't be really about me though. It's going to quickly be about Todd Munkin and Deshan Watson and ownership and all the other things. I hope you don't have to learn that lesson. I hope I'm right. I think I'm going to be right. I'm not going to guarantee it. I hope you don't have to learn that lesson right now. But someday you'll see. You'll see John Diana Rucetti says in her next job she's going to spill the beans. So she's going to be doing what?
This is our daddy like podcast. What is she going to be doing? I got to ask you. I don't mean to pry into marriages here, but like there's her husband have no backbone whatsoever. I figured things were going just from a gossip perspective. I think I felt I figured things were going okay that they were still together that they were photographed together. Well, yeah. And like, hey, you can if you believe in forgiveness and you guys can work through God bless you. God bless you. But you're going to it sounds like, okay, if I get a job, if you hire me, you're going to get the inside dope. What went down in a alleged affair between me and an NFL head coach and like, should Mike Ravel be worried about this? I don't know if it's top of mind, but I bet it's going to be top of mind real soon. She gets job. I'm about to drink me more and then right after that. Well, the Patriots approving this. The Patriots approving they put up with a lot if it means winning. So yeah, I'd be much more worried about Drake May than I would about Diana Rucetti if I were Mike Ravel.
But man, if I want her husband, Lord, I might we wondered if the flow of information was going to continue to trick a lot seem like every day there was a new photograph, a new story, a new picture of them in, you know, a cafe. Okay, she has all the information on their relationship. So if he was manipulating to try to win trades or drafts or having information like she has all the information. I get that, but again, I'm looking at it. If she, if I were in a relationship with her and you were sticking a microphone and talking about her with another guy allegedly. Not going to make me in the family feel very good, trying to get through this together, not trying to keep reliving it. The good thing is her kids will never have to care about this. Never have to worry. Take that in consideration as well. All right, we're back tomorrow. And no, we will no longer be talking about Snoop ever again. Hey, sounds good. Where's your aunt to rise now?
Come on, I got an intellectual. Bye-bye!
