Welcome to the Amani Talks podcast and may host Amani Talks in this podcast. I'm helping you level up your five soft skills, public speaking, and storytelling, social dynamics, emotional intelligence, and creativity. Five soft skills for you to change your life forever, and skyrocket your confidence along the way. Until this episode, I'm going to be talking about how to ask personal questions in dinner parties. Whenever you're at a party, you may be with a big group for some time, and you may be talking with that group. Now, poor etiquette is to ask super personal questions that should have been done in a one-on-one situation in front of that group. One example is, let's say everyone is having kids, and you ask the only couple out there that doesn't have kids in front of everyone, hey, when are you guys going to have kids? Now, this couple may be trying to have kids, but they're having complications behind the scenes, and now you have put them on the spot.
What's better is, if you talk to, let's say, just a guy, and you guys are talking in a one-on-one situation, and you guys are talking about different topics first, and then you transition over to the kids topic. How do curiosity? Are you guys trying to have kids? Now, in this situation, this guy is probably going to open up to you, because it doesn't feel like he is being attacked. Because in the other situation, so many people are looking at him, and he's just going to blurt out an answer while in this situation, just with you, he's capable of giving a true answer that you will appreciate. So, it's not wrong to ask personal questions at dinner parties. It's just wrong, based on the timing. When there's so many people around you and you're asking a question that is somewhat personal, other people get embarrassed, and it makes you look insensitive. So, you can ask personal questions, just pull them to the side and ask away.
Thank you very much for joining me, and I'll catch you next time.
