3984 Set the Tempo of Your Life

About this episode

You don't have to like where you are. Maybe your life feels stuck in a loop you didn't sign up for. Maybe your step feels heavy or your spirit's been whispering for a shift you haven't dared to make. Wait though! You're not trapped. Not by your past, your mistakes, or the weight of what isn't working. You get to decide how you show up each day. You get to set the tempo of your life—from what you hold onto to what you courageously let go.

This is the wellspring of real well-being: the space inside where choice lives. It's not about pretending you're perfect or faking a smile.

It's about peeling back the layers and facing your reflection with honesty—not through the lens of selfish pride, but with the quiet strength of who you're becoming.

Think about Jesus, not in the way you're used to hearing about Him, but as the purest example of someone who lived fully aligned with a divine heartbeat. He didn't show up arrogantly, demanding attention or clinging to ego. Instead, His reflection mirrored a love so deep, so unshakeable, it moved mountains. It was the reflection of a heart connected to something greater—a heart that invites us to lean in, not because we have to, but because something inside knows it's life-giving.

As Lent unfolds—the season of peeling back distractions and readying our hearts—we're called to hold a mirror up to ourselves.

But the question isn't "Do I look good enough?" or "Am I enough?" It's far more profound: "Am I loving myself in a way that reflects the Father's heart?"

This isn't about puffing up the ego; this is about resting in the truth that you are deeply known and loved, even when the edges of your life feel jagged.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Set the tempo of your life!

This season is a chance to press pause and listen: What thoughts, beliefs, or patterns are running the show in you? Which ones are truly serving you? Which ones need to be rewritten or released? What does it look like for you to step into the posture of strength and surrender—choosing daily to align with love over fear, grace over judgment?

You don't have to stay where you are. Even if you don't love your reflection today, there's a promise you can hold onto: love itself doesn't abandon the imperfect, the broken, or the weary. God invites you to lean in, to soften, and to become a reflection of something holy and hopeful.

So as you walk through these next 40 days, dare to change the rhythm of your life. Set the tempo for what's working and bravely redefine what needs to shift.

Look in the mirror and dare to love that reflection—not because it's flawless, but because it's marked by growth, grace, gratitude, and the presence of a Father who's always near.

You get to choose. And that's where true well-being begins.

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

Okay, so you know we've done a little bit of jostling around. Yes, we have kind of moved from the idea of wellness Wednesday to well-spring Wednesday. I believe this is our third episode doing that. We jumped on it, and the reason being is, you know, we come off of Sweet Spirit Sunday, and we go through life, and we're bookend by Inspiration Motivation, but we're kind of hanging in the balance, and quite frankly, we know what we need to do to be healthy. You just got to go do it. But a lot of times we don't know how to go deeper. We live to surface level. We allow ourselves to just be kind of like, I'm just going to hang out here on the floor instead of raising the ceiling. And so growth doesn't happen. And our generational impact stops because all we're doing is repeating bad habits. And not really looking at what we can do to impact the world that we touch in a new way that's even greater, more positive, shifting from maybe what you grew up with,

or where you came from early in your life. To now that you have wisdom, you can make a shift. This comes with age. This comes with wisdom. And so you can think about it as wisdom Wednesday, but I like wellspring Wednesday. This should be wellling up within you. Because I know a lot of times we just don't like where we are, do we? And you don't have to. Maybe your life feels stuck in a loop you didn't sign up for. Maybe you're in that season that's just like, oh, do you even know? Like, I can't even explain it. Maybe your life feels stuck in a loop that, you know, feels heavy. And your spirit's been whispering for a shift you haven't dared to make. Wait, though. You're not trapped. Not by your past. Not by your mistakes. Not by the weight of what isn't working. You get to decide how you show up each day. You get to set the tempo of your life from what you hold onto

to what you courageously let go. This is the wellspring of real well-being. The space inside where choice lives. It's a different type of freedom, a freedom that goes deeper, a freedom that God wants for us. But we have to be willing to say yes. We have to be willing to do the work. It's not about pretending you're perfect or faking a smile. You can do that. A lot of people go to the masquerade ball every single day. It's exhausting. I beg you not to do it any longer. But you see the wellspring of well-being is peeling back the layers and facing your reflection with honesty. Not because you want to be mean to yourself. Not through the lens of selfish pride. But with the quiet strength of who you are and who you are becoming. You know, I want you to think about what God has in store for you and what Jesus did. Not in the way where you're used to hearing about Him. But it's the purest example of someone who lived fully aligned with a divine heartbeat.

Perfect man. We will never be that. Perfect, heavenly, sun. Right? Perfection. But walked here on earth. He didn't show up arrogantly, did he? He didn't demand attention or cling to his own ego. It wasn't about, hey, look at me, look at me. His reflection mirror to love so deep, so unshakable, it moved mountains. He met the people where they were in the alleys and the sick villages where they were shunned. It was the reflection of a heart connected to something greater. A heart that invites us to lean in. Not because we have to, but because something inside knows its life giving. There's something within us that says there's something more in life.

And I don't want this podcast. You've been doing this over 10 years now, over a decade. We have over 4,000 episodes. Quite frankly, that's a little bit daunting when I think about it and say it out loud. But I'm here to tell you, creature now is not about me. It truly is about you and your walk, your everyday walk and how you do it. Are you doing it your way? Well, how's it getting you? Where is it getting you? Or are you doing it God's way? We're in the season of Lent. And this is a tradition. Lent itself is not mentioned in the Bible. Now, I'm not going to go into that right now. I would say, go Google it. If you're into AI, go AI it. Go talk to your pastor. Go do some digging of your own. Go do some research. But Lent itself, traditions are good if they point us in the right direction. And as Lent unfolds, it actually started with Ash Wednesday, which was last Wednesday a week ago.

I was traveling. So I wasn't necessarily like, okay, this is what I got to get to do. You know, I'm going to put this out. No, I needed to be in the right frame of mind. My mindset needed to be where I needed to be so I could show up fully for you. So we're basically a weekend. To Lent. But this season of Lent is the 40 days prior to Easter. Now, there's some days about six days that are taken out because they don't count the Sabbath. And so therefore it's 40 days. And there's a reason for that. Again, we're not going to go into the details of that. Go search it out. I will maybe at another time, but not right now because we'll be here for another 30 minutes. But I want you to think about Lent is this pathway that's readying your heart, that's peeling back the distractions. Because you're called to hold a mirror up to yourself. But the question isn't, do I look good enough?

Am I good enough? Am I enough? It's far more profound, my friend. Am I loving myself in a way that reflects the father's heart? And that's one that the silence sets in. At least it does for me. And all honesty, I kind of wonder sometimes, does God age? I mean, seriously, if you think about it. Because we sit here and complain about our wrinkles. We complain about the number on the scale, the number that's hanging in the closet. We think, oh goodness gracious, I don't ever want to get to a 16 again. I wasn't eight, and a 10, but now I'm creeping into 14. I don't want to get to that 16. What does that mean for me? We have all of these things that define us in our world. But a lot of how we look at it is just surface level. We don't go deeper, and that's the whole part of the well spring is to go deeper.

It's about understanding where you're rooted. To challenging yourself, your own thinking, your own beliefs, your own thoughts, your own actions. This isn't about puffing up the ego. This is about resting and the truth that you are deeply known and deeply loved, even when the edges of your life feel jagged. And I get it. Sometimes they're not just jagged. They cut a sharp as a blade of a knife. And at times you just feel like you're bleeding out. I get it. And you wonder, can I make it through? Oh, my friends, you get to set the tempo of your life. And so when that quiet and stillness hits you, that silence that says, there's more to this life than what you think than what you just see through your own eyes. I want you to look through my eyes, meaning God's eyes. This is a season of chance to press pause. And to listen.

What thoughts, what beliefs, what patterns are running the show in you? What all of a sudden is coming up when I say certain things? Good or bad, there's no judgment here. And I don't want you to necessarily associate feelings right now. You need to get to that. But it's just, what are you thinking about? What is that first gut that thought? They're like, oh, that kind of hurt, that kind of stung. Oh, wait, that felt good. What is it for you? Which ones are truly serving you? Which ones need to be rewritten or released? Let go. What does it look like for you to step into the posture of strength and surrender? Choosing daily to align with love, over fear, grace, over judgment. Man, if we could just hang out there for a long time, I think a lot of lives would be changed. Because unfortunately a lot of us act like we're strong,

but we forget about the surrender part. We forget that we've got to be strong. We got to do it all on our own. But yet that surrender part is like, but I got to let it go, let it go. Can't hold it back anymore. Right? Can't sing anymore because I'll get charged for it. But that's for another episode. But seriously, right? We can sit here and pretend that we're strong, but we're weak because we're not willing to take that next step. Love, over fear, grace, over judgment. And I'm not talking about judging ourselves against a comparison. Right? The wall of comparison. Did you listen to Monday's episode? Go back there. Episode 3982. Yes, today we talked about live like it's Christmas. Now we're talking about coming into Lent and coming into Easter. It is a new season. It is a shift. There's a reason for it. You don't have to stay where you are.

Even if you don't love your reflection today, there is a promise you can hold on to. Love itself doesn't abandon the imperfect. Love itself doesn't abandon the burden broken or even the weary. My friend, God invites you to lean in to soften and to become a reflection of something holy and hopeful. And I'm not saying holy like God because you're not going to be God. None of us will be. That is not what I'm saying. So please do not send me those emails. What I'm saying is holy is set apart because of how you're choosing to live your life. You are set apart. Holistic living, the whole being. That doesn't mean you're perfect. And hopeful, you know there's something better on the other side. This isn't the end of the line. This is not the end of your story.

So as you walk through these next 40 days, dare to change the rhythm of your life. Set the tempo for what's working and bravely redefine what needs to shift. It's okay to know that I'm great at this, but I really suck at this. It's okay. Don't take it personally. I've had some really honest conversations. See, I'm traveling a lot. I'm on the road. And when I'm on the road, I have conversations with God. And they go something like this. Lord, I have a problem with this. Why did you not make me an inch taller? And he kindly reminds me because I made you the way I made you. You don't get to choose. And I'm like, that's not a fair answer. But I have to accept it. Now, this is a conversation I probably had with him at least once a week. Because if I was just an inch taller, just an inch, you know how much that would stretch me out? Well, yeah, I even told my mom that. I'm like, could you not have given me one little extra cell that would have been just a little bit taller? She's like, well, it wasn't actually me. I'm like, yeah, you were half me.

My dad was taller too. So why did I get the short jeans? Anyway, that's a humorous part, right? But then the other part is, Lord, what do you want me to do this season in my life? This week, who are you going to put in front of me today? Who do I need to see? It's not about me. It's about who crosses my path. I don't want to miss who God wants me to see. But I have to be willing to see not my reflection, but his. Look in the mirror and dare to love that reflection, not because it's flawless, but because it's marked by growth, grace, and gratitude. And most importantly, the presence of a father who's always near. God's got you. And I know there are times that you feel like, no, he doesn't. You haven't lived my life, Christy Ant.

No, you're right. I have not. I've lived mine. And I know I've experienced some crazy things in my life. Crazy things. If you knew all the details, you would be like, how can you even come on here and talk to us about this? You'd be fiber-gasted, honestly. But we'll have to leave a lot of that for another episode. Or as we go into aim and our PJ parties. Because you see, God's always got you. Not the man are always that we want him to, but the way he knows it's best for us. He'll catch you. But you have to be willing to lean in. You have to be willing to understand that he's got it. And that doesn't mean that you get it as in you logically can sit here and reason it out with yourself because you won't. That's why it's called faith. You have to have trust and know that he has made a promise.

And he will work all things for good to those who love him, who serve him. And that doesn't mean that you get what you want. That doesn't mean that everything's going to be easy. That doesn't mean that you're going to be rich or you're going to win the parable. You may not get any of that. But he'll give you exactly what you're supposed to have. So the story that's being written is one with two hearts, his and yours. My friends, you get to choose. And when you think about it, that's where the world spring comes. You want it to flow from your Heavenly Father. That's a reflection you want to see in the mirror. Go on peace, be present, be incredible, be you. I love you so very much. I cannot wait to see you on the other side. Blessings, hugs, and lots and lots of love. Well, Dr. You will soon have a glorious blessed week.
