Welfare Animal Project At Burren Nature Sanctuary

On Friday's Morning Focus, Daragh Dolan was talking about an interesting animal welfare project being carried out at Burren Nature Sanctuary, where researchers looked at how environmental enrichment can improve the wellbeing of captive animals.   Ellie Cullinan from Crusheen, a Zoology student, studied the behaviour of two male boars, Apollo and Jupiter, using everything from puzzle feeders and toys to scent and sound enrichment.   Her findings showed a reduction in repetitive pacing and increased opportunities for natural behaviours such as foraging and exploration.  Ellie joined Daragh to tell us more about the project and what she discovered.
