The HodeAki Breakfast thanks to Bunnings Trade, build big rewards with new PowerPass pro rewards by Bunnings. On another game, Jerry and Minay. Please, the HodeAki Breakfast. Welcome along to your Friday. It's Friday the 11th of September 2026. My name's Jeremy Wellesman Ice. 740,000 for Finale and to go and play for the Melbourne Stars. That isn't brutal. Earned. Earned and not given. But that is, what's that $1 million New Zealand? Yeah. Yeah, you should never look in your neighbours' bowl except to make sure that he's got enough. But it seems to me that Finale has enough. I'm sure he's got enough. Well, a good amount of work to him. Obviously, you've got to face him fast, bowling. You do, and a lot of pressure. Yeah, for like six weeks. Yeah, after six weeks. And then the IPL. I'm in the IPL. Look, it's growing. And so I'm glad he's... I'm disappointed he's not taking a New Zealand cricket central contract.
Well, yeah, for a hundred grand. Where's the, where's the honour? Where's the logic? Does the Jersey man anything? Does the black cat man anything anymore? He's a professional athlete. It's got to feed his family. Yeah, those kids need nappies. Should we get into the kickoff? Yes, give us a call now. I 800 HodeAki, we need a caller to decide which song is going to kick off the show. Yes. I give me this morning, I need something to jazz me up of a Friday morning. Give me Super Styling Groover Armada, please. Please, please. Oh, yeah. I see what you're down here on a Friday. Do we want to go three callers to decide it? Sure. OK, I'll be line callers. I'll be line callers. I want Groover Armada, Super Styling. I will see your early 90s dance music. With, sorry, early 2000s dance music. With some early 2000s rock music. I will go to France Food and then take me out for the first song of the day. OK, three callers to decide it this morning. The phone lines are working and I, in no small part because road is back and probably no
set of turn them on. We haven't been able to do it for the last couple of days. Where do you want to go? I just start with Lion Mon with Rob from Hastings. Morning Rob, welcome to the show. Hey guys, Eda. Good, you excited about the weekend, Rob? Oh, it's starting to make it. Yeah, can't wait. You get the weekend off? Yes. Any plans? I do, the weekend off. The wires and that's better. You, where are you going to watch the wires? Just at home from the comfort of my couch. Oh, yeah. I know that, I know that feeling, Rob. Sounds like you're a similar stage to life to me. Yeah. When you look for it, you look forward to one sports game in a week. Yeah, and the rest of the time, relaxing. I know how that feels, Rob. What song would you like to start the show with? Friends Food and or Grover Matter. I like a bit of Groovy Matter. OK. Good on you, Rob. You're Rob. All right. This goes to Brad, shall we? Yes, Brad. Driving open this morning, Brad. Yeah, it's just just started. So I kind of kick off the shift in a good way. Yeah, busy, busy this morning.
It looks like it's going to be steady, I think, yeah. That continues my 100% streak of asking every Uber driver I've ever met if they've been busy. It's a pretty common question. Will the prices be surging this morning, Brad? No, it's all pretty. It's all standard, standard fast. Yeah. All right, Brad. I might need you to give me a lift out to Mount Smart tomorrow afternoon, but we'll get in touch. What do you want to hear this morning, Brad? Oh, look, I think I think I'll go with you and I. Oh. It's a bit of styling. Yeah. OK. Grover Matter. It has two calls takes it out. Boom, we don't even need to go to Jody. No, I'll go to the second anyway. I'll go to the second one, and to Jody. Jody. Morning, Jody. Hey, going. We're going to go ahead. Glad, long time no. Yeah. That pinky finger growing back. That's a pinky growing back. Tafay there. That's it. That's good to hear. That's actually bigger in a warm day. I like that. Jody, what song would have you gone for just out of matter,
out of curiosity? I'd say what have gone. Super styling, being a Friday. What would have been a great one for me? Clean sweat, brilliant, great way to start your Friday as well. Simply is. It takes me back. Grover Matter. Welcome along to the Hodecky Breakfast. It's nice to have you with us on the Friday morning. Jerry and Minaya, the Hodecky Breakfast. There it is. Grover Matter. Great. Jerry and I get things going on the Friday morning. Nine minutes past six. It's absolutely working me out that. How do you feel about it? The fact that I picked a song that was already in our playlist? Well, so did I. That's a good point. You know, I don't mind that. I just think it's just choosing that song, giving people a choice of how we're going to start things off. Because as we know, the reason that we're doing it is because Inkypiss was starting to show for what, three days in a row. Too much, yeah, too long. Yep. Welcome back into the studio, Rude. Hi, guys. Welcome back to me. He has beaten off a severe bout of super gonorrhea and recovered. I've been beating it off for a good weekend a bit. Haven't you, Jerry?
Thank you, Jerry. Give us a health update. Health update. Unusual for you not to be at work. I've got to say, Rude. Well, probably the most unusual thing was the fact I came into work on Monday and Tuesday. Was that you? It was a shell of me. Right. And in retrospect, maybe not the best idea. I can. Yeah. You came too early. Yeah, yeah, I did come too early. And I also came without soldering on. Yeah, okay. Which was a real fatal mistake. Right. That's so funny. Yeah. You want to go with the particular, it's codrawl that you want to go with. Yeah, that's the thing. You want the David Seymour's, the pseudo-ephardry. You need the ones with the pseudo-ephardry. Unfortunately, when you do ask for them at the pharmacy. You're treated like a bloody drug smuggling. Ah, methodic, yeah. A methodic, yeah. You're like, you're going to go home and you're going to bake up a batch. I know. It's to the point where if you get too consecutive colds like a month after the last, you're like, geez, I don't know if I can go and ask for another. Or am I going to get put on some sort of registry?
Yeah, well, now, as you could have go for three factor identification whenever you go to the other thing. I'm asking for your address, your parents' names, you know, whether or not they went to the war, all sorts of stuff. So my biggest concern for you, Rooda, is has this impacted the pet tonics, pet tides at all? Well, no, the good news is that one of my better days in the last week and a bit has been the Sunday. Yeah. And of course, every Sunday night is when I have to have a shower, make sure my hair's nice, dry, clean. And then I go with the peptide infusions and the forehead, mainly in the forehead and the crown at the back. How far through that are you? I believe I'm seven or maybe eight weeks. I think I've got to have another break at some point. Can we go back a bit because I just realized that there's potentially a correlation between your pet tides and this illness. I mean, have you put, have you Googled it? No. Any side effects? No, no side effects from the pet tonics registry. No, that's safe. That's interesting. And then you wrote side effects from medication? No, it seemed very unusual.
No, they're fine. I mean, even with your, even with your coderal soldiering on, there are some side effects to that medication, obviously. Well, I guess the main side effect of the peptonics regime is just getting a massive rigger here on you. Yeah. In here as well. Yeah, that is a good point. It's going to be awesome. And the pressure it's going to put on your relationship after the additional attention. Oh, imagine all the attention. That's what I am imagining. Is that, is that about that on the packet? No, it doesn't, but it does on the AI ads, where they make the cartoon versions of the set. The songs, yeah. That people look at. Yeah. Which is how you know they're safe. Yeah. Because they say that on the AI ads. Do we get to the bottom of what was wrong with you? Nah. I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think so. I'm sorry. It's supposed it doesn't matter now that he's sweet. You're back. You're saying fine. You're saying good. I feel normal. Well, as normal as can be. That's good. Well, welcome back. It's nice to have you back. Jerry and Minaya. The Hoda Key breakfast. Do you be interested in this Minaya? Guess who I ran until yesterday. Nope. No idea.
Captain Obvious. Oh, they used to work here. Remember Captain Obvious? Is this too boring for 6, 17, 2 dudes reminisce over a workmate that you guys don't know? Captain Obvious. It was named Captain Obvious because he would turn up to situations like you'd be at a work party or something. You'd turn up and you'd go, be at a clock, is it? Yeah. You'd be drinking a beer. And you'd be on a dance floor and he'd be like dancing, are you? But whatever his opening line was always exactly. Sits there. And you were doing it. And but like delivered with such enthusiasm as well, you just walking and like, standing in the floor this morning, fellas. Yeah. Breathing, are we? Respiratory system operating. Is it boys? Existing. Yeah. What's it? Blinking. Is it fellas? They? Captain Obvious. He used to kill me. He used to play a game where... Like every, every walk then, how many things could he say before he said something that wasn't obvious and every phrase that he said would be a run?
He'd be like, how many? How many could, I think he only got like three. I never, I never heard Captain Obvious ever say anything that wasn't obvious. Yeah. I never had a conversation with Captain Obvious other than just that first line. I never heard an opinion. No. He doesn't have an opinion on anything. He's a radio host, too. Captain Obvious. Yeah, Captain Obvious is a radio host. I think he actually a host, Captain Obvious. He is now. I don't want to say where. And I know that I've been flame the conspiracy theory proportion of our audience. But yeah, he would just come in and just, but... White T-shirt is it today? Jir. I reckon everybody knows Captain Obvious. Yeah. But it's not until someone names them Captain Obvious that you really, really, realize what their main trait is. I think for this guy though, it was the frequency with which it was like 100% hit rate, every single thing he ever said to you was just Captain Obvious. Yep.
Which I'm not a, maybe we're doing as well, but just doing that. Yeah. Yeah, I reckon... You're a glass on your face. He says, redid you. Oh, yeah, yeah. I thought it was failing the other. So, yep, I can't. Captain Obvious. And you use those to hear what you're saying on the radio, is that what the... I can't imagine what Captain Obvious's voice, although, you know, was talking about Captain Obvious too boring for 620. Is it too obvious? Jirian Manaya, the Hoda Key breakfast. Oh, look at the time 630, time for your latest sport headlines. Thanks to export ultra-the-beer for here. That caps T20 opener, Finn Allen, has been signed by the Melbourne Stars in the biggest deal in big, bash league cricket history. The 27 year old signed a three year contract and it's with a reported $740,000 for at least the first season. I'm hearing rumors that's actually in New Zealand dollars, not Australian.
So, thoughts and prayers with Finn Allen? It's been sure changed. Allen spent two campaigns with the Perth scorchers, where he won the title and the Golden Bat as the competition's top runs through this year, which is why he's getting $740,000. Man, I should have stuck with that cricket thing. Look at that, $740,000. Potentially could make $2.1 million. Three years. Well, that's assuming that it doesn't go up. Like it may go up. Well, I wonder whether it can't go up. Do you know what I mean? It's $740 maximum. Might go down. Might go up. Could go up. Might stay the same. Could go down. That's two boring for $631. Change is coming to the ULBLACs for the final match against the Springboks, the bolt-on, and Baltimore. But how much is too much? Is the question coach Dave Rene will have pondered this week? Certainly will have. There'll be a number of questions Dave Rene will be pondering. I imagine the team is named at 8am this morning. That's exciting. We can tell you what it is in a narrow and a half.
Would you change anything? Because this is the decider. Whoever wins this one wins the whole tournament. As we've already discussed. So would you change the team? I have got to a point now when I steer it where I don't understand selections. And I don't pretend that I know more about who should be in the team and who shouldn't be in the team than the coaches who speak. How is looking at data? That's the most fun part. To treat your opinion as good as the facts that they've been studying. I look at the game, I analyze it, I go back and over it and over and over it. I look at the performance but then I'm not sure if that person could have been a good game or a bad game or maybe could play better the next week. I'm not a coach, I don't understand the potential. There will be a couple of changes though. Andrews, big Andrews, main one to Artisavere which is gutting. Looking back at that game, my second watch I realised what an important moment in the match that was when Artisavere went off. We were ahead on the scoreboard. It's good to try it. Yeah, we were looking really good at that point.
So that's a tragedy. Meanwhile, a final minute penalty kick, 15 metres in from touch is snatched. Manoatu, a 27-25 win of a Taranaki in Palmerston North. Here's a fun fact for you. That is the first victory by Manoatu over Taranaki in 13 years. Is that right? Yes, that is right. I'm surprised, or I made it up. Oh, the victory is the turbo stirred in a Roman eye. That's a fact for me. Yeah, who won factor there? Just outfactored you. And the one New Zealand stadium, also known as Takaha, continues to attract big events to Christchurch with the Wellington Phoenix Men and Women confirmed to play a double header next Ytangide. So I can game celebrate Ytangide. Beauty. Coming up next, I've come up with a new test for how you feel about someone. And I thought, let's test our relationships with one another and run that test on each other up next. Jerry in the night. The Houdaki breakfast.
So a test has come across my desk here and I thought we could all do it together. Is it a little bit of a team bonding experiment? Love a test on a Friday. Pop quiz. So the test is called the Two Bears in a Puppy Test. A helpful test for determining how you feel about someone. It is. In order to find out how you actually feel about someone, ask yourself this. Would I have two bears with this person? And would I allow this person to look after my puppy over the weekend? Some people are a no and no. I would not have two bears with that person. I would not let them look after my puppy. These people are to be avoided at all costs. Some people are yes and no. So I would have a bear with this person but I would not let them look after my puppy. These people are to be cautiously trusted. Some people are no and yes. I would never be a but they can look after my puppy. These people are no fun. But they make a world of meta plays for puppies, especially some people. Yes and yes, these people are wonderful. And your life and work a bit of having them in your life. Seek them out, collaborate with them, enjoy their company. Okay. Well, a couple of things to talk about here.
Firstly, what about the idea of looking after a puppy? So what you'd punish someone with a puppy? Puppy is a bloody punishing thing. They are. But what if you're like going away for the weekend and you can't say the puppy with the air? You're going to leave it somewhere. Yeah. There's some people that you'd punish the puppy with. Yeah. You're thinking it's not about the fact that whether or not they're responsible. It's really not your propaneant to let this punishment on them. Yeah. Because it's pretty punishing. I mean, that thing's going to ruin your car. Yes. It's going to potentially destroy your furniture. If your house isn't set up to have a dog in it and then all of a sudden you've got a puppy. You think it's going to be cute and you're just going to be cuddling on the couch. Now there's a turd in your pantry. You know, now it's chugging you couch to bits. As a kid, we had a dog and I remember when she was a puppy and she, I look back on that as a kid. I just loved that moment. Like she was so fun. She was constantly playing because as a kid you've got the energy for it.
Yes. Because you're also a puppy. Yes. So puppies and puppies go real well together. Yeah. When we got our puppy. Yoko. I was like, oh god. You realize as an adult, puppies and I fun. That's why you kicked it heaps there. Yeah. Puppies are annoying and they'll eat your furniture. They'll chew things that you like. The other day I discovered these really, really expensive noise canceling headphones. Headphones that I bought and hardly used. But I found them again because Moshka needed to use them for exams and I pulled them out and I'm like, oh, here we go. We've got these. This would be good for you. And I forgot the dog had chewed the crap out of them and now they don't work in them. Oh, that's right. That was a mat chewing stage of the dog went through. They can be brutal. Yeah, they can be brutal because as an adult you're like, like I've done everything right today. You know, I was good at work. I was productive. I worked out. I looked after myself filled my cup up so I can help my family and you get home and they're like, something's gone wrong and I had nothing to do with that. That pisses me off. So yes, I can understand that. But let's go around and do this test now then, Jerry.
Would you have two beers with me? Yes. Of course. Would you inflict a puppy on me? Well, I wouldn't want to have to inflict a puppy on it. I would trust it. I would trust. Would you trust me or would you trust my partner? I would trust you supported by your partner. Yeah. You know what I mean? I know that Jeff's there or they're about. And so she's in and around there. Oh, she's only a phone call away for you. She is, but a phone call away. She's about a tourist phone call away. Okay, so that's a yes and yes. Yep. Okay. Would I have two beers with you? Yes. Would I let you look after my puppy? Well, it depends on what kind of puppy I've got because famously your dog, okay, likes to rip dogs to bits. So I don't know how... So that's a no? I don't know how I go. I wouldn't trust my dog with a puppy. No, I wouldn't trust my puppy with your dog. So that's a yes and no, I think. But it's not because of you. Well, although you also kicked that though. So it's a yes and no. What about in my situation?
What about a teenager? Would I allow... Would you allow me to look after your tenets? Yeah. Would I inflict my tenets? Would I have two beers with me? Actually, what? That'd be certainly keen. Jerry and Minoan. The Hodaaki breakfast. Jerry and Minoan. The Hodaaki breakfast. So huge weekend coming up for the Warriors fans around the country. Like me, for example, here. Yes. And on the inside. For the first time. Well, it's funny, say that because Biggs and Madam Attic's just before said, I saw you on Instagram in a Warriors shirt. And I agree it looks weird on you. Effing weird on you. Thank you very much. Not sure it's your age though. I think it's just a subset of one. I love your work team. You wear the merch. Simple. Beauty. So, yeah. Huge weekend coming up. But imagine if you were someone who puts ten dollars on the each year at the start of the season to win the grand final. Because obviously the odds beginning of the season to win the grand final much longer than now when they've narrowed
down quite a bit. And imagine if you were a person who had done that for the last 26 years. I can't Jerry, I need to talk to someone. Well, luckily, Minoan, ex-guest has done just that. We can talk to him. His name is Mark Thomas. Good morning, Mark. Welcome to the show. Get out, how are you? And you're talking like this is something strange. I don't get it. Yeah, yeah. Does everyone not put ten dollars on the Warriors to any of the year? Yeah, well, it's been something that's been a tradition for me for, I don't know, at least 20 years. So, one day it's going to happen. And I guess that the closest you've been is 2002 and 2011. What are your memories of those years? Oh, 2002. It was the same sort of vibe as it is now. Even when I was talking about it, there were lots of fans were in the merch. And back then, I had a record shop real gruevian, Wellington. And I was encouraging all the staff to get behind the team. And we were actually faxing in those days for team and over and suddenly, just with messages and support. And that was a great game, man.
We had a party at our house and it was a good night apart from the result. Good night, Mark. Obviously, 26 years, $10 a year, you're down 260 at this stage. What were the odds at the beginning of the season this year? I actually checked that last night because I hadn't even looked at that. But I think I stand to win 230 if they do it. So that means pretty much all my money back. You're just going to end up square if they win this other thing. Yeah, yeah, that does no problem. No problem for me. Well, not only are you square, but you're also right. And I think that's a big part of it. Mark, what's the biggest odds that you remember going into a season? I honestly can't remember. But as we all know, there's been some seasons where it hasn't ended well. And you know, the odds are pretty good at the start of the next year. Honestly, this has just been a traditional start of the year. About five and doesn't matter what the odds are. And I never bid against the Warriors.
There's doesn't matter whether I'm in a tipping comp or whatever. So obviously, occasionally I don't end up at the top of the tipping table. I would talk to Mark Thomas. He's put $10 on the Warriors to win the Grand Final every year for 26 years. Are you confident this year, Mark? How are you feeling? Look, I'm confident every year, but yes, there's something about this team, the way that the coaching staff talk about, and the way the team are talking in their interviews. And when the team was named on Tuesday, I think everyone was anticipating who they was going to be and who's going to make the side of. As soon as I saw that, I was like, wow, you don't get much stronger than that. So I mean, there's a lot of talk about how good the dolphins are. We're going to get through them, but I am confident, although slightly nervous too. We're in a Warriors' finery. Warriors regalia this morning. We're wearing it for the Wars. Mark, I've got a couple of jerseys on. Jerry's got his scarf that he's been looking for for a while.
But I understand you've got quite a wide range of Warriors memorabilia outside of jerseys. What kind of stuff do you have? Oh, man. And I've been picking up little things over the years as most fans will be, but everything from, I guess, I've got some signed jerseys of jandals drink, where I've even got a Warriors' Friggin' one and a Woodstock promo a while ago. But I think my prized position I found a commemorative mini-frame jerseys that came out at the start of the 95 season. And it's framed and it's signed by all the original players and staff. And I've never seen another one. And I've found that one of my favorite shops is David White Gallery in Wellington. I'm just having a look here, Mark. And it says that you own Warriors' sheets. Oh, yeah. Well, they came out. I think they're about, I don't know, 2010 or something. They issued some, you know, I went through the sheets of the sheets. So I ran out in the garage somewhere. But you want me bringing them out of the garage and swirling those for a...
I don't think so. But if we have the grand final party here at home, everything's going to be on this way. Mark Thomas has put $10 on the Warriors to win every year. Thank you so much for your time this morning. Best of luck with everything, Mark. Cheers, man. Thanks a lot. I see here that someone spent $5,000 at the beginning of the season. I know when the odds are $11, that's the biggest bet the TAB's got. That's people I've granded. Yep. Jury and Miniat, the Hodaaki breakfast. Just quickly, a couple of ticks to rip through here. I happy Waz Day boys got my shirt on for support. They come through on 3-4-8-3. Someone who wears their merch on the outside. Jury, just like you, as of this morning. Another one here, we're talking about the... Actually, just quickly. Should the Warriors do a cardigan for Jury? Would you wear a cardigan? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. What are you saying? It's because you're too old that you can't wear the Warriors. But I'm not... I'm not cardigan, AGS.
Well, what's in between a jersey, a playing jersey in a cardigan? What do you... Maybe a pair of slippers? What do you... I don't know. And then earlier on on the show, we're talking about... If you can't tell what's real on the news or on your social media feed anymore, do you just end up churning out? Richard Sexter and said, I showed my kids 9-11 footage and they asked if it was fake. Well, you know, I can see how that thing that it was. I'm just a crazy thing to show you kids. So, yesterday I got an email that sent my blood pressure through the roof. I received it at 5.54am yesterday on the show and you guys didn't even notice. Well, that's why I don't look at my email. Yeah, because you can sit in a foul mood for the rest of the day. I never opened my insid me emails. I never will. I don't know the password. I don't know the interface. I've got no idea. You now can't even log into your computer. No. I don't know how to tell us. Not actually. And in fact, when we switch... Oh, look at you.
You now have to log into the doors to get it into the studio as well. It's a whole thing. And it's driving us insane. I think we'll look back on this era of two-factor. Router had a three-factor authentication the other day. What? A three-factor. Three-factor's, Router. Yeah, I had to start by putting in my password, which you'd accept. And then it said, we're going to send you an email and you're going to get a code. So then into that. And I was like, OK, well, surely I'm in. And then it said, we're going to send you a text message to your phone. And then you're going to enter that. And do you know what that was for? Buying dog biscuits on one. I was buying dog biscuits on one. And they wanted three factors. Oh, my God. What were they worried that you were going to eat the dog? What were they worried about? I don't know. They were worried I wasn't me. And I had my own credit card details. How far do we go? Does it ever get to five factors? Well, this is the thing that happened to me the other day. I tried to log into my work emails. And then it was like, now open your phone. Now we sent you a phone. Now we sent you an email back to your thing. Now open up the phone again. And then into the code. And I entered the code. And then I went to scratch my nose. And then it brought the face scanner thing up.
But my hands in front of my face. And it's like, no, it's start the whole process again. It's like, oh, my God. So after five minutes, I can't even scratch my nose. Or I'm getting logged out. So yesterday when I received this email at 554 A.M., it could have derailed the show. It didn't because I'm made of stirring stuff. The email came from Google. And it said critical security alert. Some of your passwords were found online. And they've been involved in a data breach from a site or app that you use. Your Google account is not affected. But you should change basically every password you've got. Oh my God. I know that this is just... I'd give up at that point. I have. I'm like, so I don't want to password on anything. No. Okay, so let's start there. I don't want to password on my emails. I've hacked them. My bank account, I've got no money anyway. So I don't want to password on anything. You're making me put a password on it because you want me to have it. And now you're telling me the passwords have been leaked. Then take my password off every day. I don't... If I want to have to log into anything ever again. So this is human eye out.
This is the interesting thing. Okay, that's you. You're a 35 year old dude. Yeah. Who is pretty good with technology. Thank you. You know, what happens if you're like 80? Yeah, exactly. Like what are you exactly? Well, you can't live your life anymore without being... ...involved and all of this stuff like what are you? And it must just be like, I've got no connection to this world at all. No, my Mrs. Sedlass liked it. Like they asked her to share it to update another password. She goes, I've got no more passwords in me. I've got, I'm out of passwords. She's gone through every childhood pet. You know, the calf she won, calf club worth. Dude, you know what happened? She said that into her microphone. Yeah, you know what's happening here though. This was predicted in revelations in the Bible. Of course. It's... We're getting microchips. Give it to me. Give it to me. And we're getting microchips. It's all gonna be microchip based and you're gonna put it up against the screen. And this is the way it all got in. If it's bloody passwords, which did it? If it means I never have to put a password into anything ever again, I'll be happy to. Jerry and Monoy. The Hoda Key Breakfast. Jeremy Wells and Monoyas do it.
The Hoda Key Breakfast. So, for only the second time in NRL history, the warriors have finished in the top two after the regular season. They haven't done it since topping the table back in 2002. Did they top the table back in 2002 because of the celery cap issue? Yeah, that was the Bulldogs one when they went over the celery cap. That's right. They're also on the playoffs for the third time in four seasons. And it all starts tomorrow against the Dollies, the Dolphins. TAB, I've got the Dolphins at 245. The Warriors at $1.55. And one man who I'm sure has tickets to the game, it's 605. If it's Comedia Stadium, Mount Smart tomorrow night, die inward. Die you've never so excited about this. Well, to be honest, I'm a little chilly at the moment. I'm just in a wealy bin at the bottom of the Southstand out in Mount Smart. Just getting my early prep on. Just waiting for Lily Wildtoken tomorrow.
But the surface is looking good. It's quite july at the moment. It's going to rain overnight. But here's one of those reds bed bastards. Oh, good. Oh, good. How do you feel about this game? I feel like the dolphins are the team we didn't want to play. But you know, we're going to have to go through every run at some point. How do you feel about the team? Completely. I was like, when I initially were playing the dolphins, what worries me is their strength is our weakness. They're like centers and wing combination, especially on their left edge, which is our right edge where Ali and Chans will be. That's where they just fire and tear teams apart. So we've struggled over the last couple of weeks that way. But also I feel we've had an eye on the finals. We haven't been playing our full team. At the moment, I'm not too stressed. I'm just thinking what an awesome year it's been. It's the fact that we have a really young team.
So it's not like this is the end of our premiership window. But we have such a tight rivalry with these guys. Like no one's ever smashed anyone. You know, the stats are fine round. Our every game's been decided by four points or less over the last six. You know, we're four apiece. We're both coming in on huge winning streaks. We've won six games in a row. They've won seven. What does worry me is now it's not actually as big a fortress as we think. We tend to struggle a bit more at Mounts Mountain terms if we have closer wins. Whereas we tend to win when big margins when we play in Aussie. But it's just going to be fizzing out there. I think everyone should just soak it in. This is a second chance. Can't say if we lose, we start going sudden. But if we win, we skip a week and then we're just playing a straight prelim. How do you feel about the quite from Valandis this week about?
Is the boss of the NRL saying that he reckons he's 90% sure we're going to play that next game at Eden Park? Yeah, I mean, I've been seeing all the conspiracy theories. That's why they went round with the eight ticket allocations. So Mounts Mountain sold out ridiculously quickly. I think it's a bit of an interesting one for me because we historically perform badly at Eden Park. Last time we played there was what 2016. So none of this current squad has actually played it. Eden Park will be like going to a different ground. They won't have the prep. They won't know the changing rooms, the run out. I do think it's awesome for fans that it means that more people from around Ulta at Ork and can actually get to the game. And 50,000 people is awesome. And I mean, I love him West Auckland. So I can walk to the train station, discover the train, and not working then get a cab to Eden Park.
As opposed to having to do that to Mounts Mountain. What a lovely, what a lovely balance view that was, do I hear with that? I was going to say, Dai, the phrase our year gets bandied about a lot. I think a lot of people think that that means we're going to win the whole thing. And I do think we are this year. But even if we don't, it's still our year, isn't it? Like the groundswell behind the worries, the way they've been playing, the record that they've had, I consider that to be our year. Look, I've been sort of trawling through Lichten or Lyskaryon. And the reason why it is our year regardless of what happens. No team has been on their fourth, fifth and sixth string halves and made it to the top two. Right? Like historically, you need to have a done half back, which is why a lot of the Aussie media pundits are saying only the roosters and penrists can do the grand final. Because of it like DCE and Nathan Cleary. But this is just becoming our year every year because Andrew Webster has set up such an amazing vibe in the team.
The owner has set up such an amazing club from the top down. Cameron George to CEO is there. But we're just in such a lovely window at the moment that everyone should enjoy the worries. They're exactly how a sporting franchise should be run. I know that you go deep into some pretty weird stats and analysis during the week. Can you just share with us, I'm keen, this is a question about warning, but I'm quite keen to know, what's the weirdest, deepest darkest hole that you've gone into in terms of research this week? Strangely, my research has been around why all teams in our club tend to have the same defensive deficiency of having our wingers jagging. Like for instance, against the night, they had a platter extra yet still felt like they have an overlap. And so this got me down into subscriptions for schoolboy league.
And you know, your partner comes in and you're airplane somebody under 14th to the TV. And you keep pausing and rewinding. It's quite disturbing for those who don't know what you're doing. I've been watching a lot of the younger teams, the juicy flag in there. And I find it very interesting and I haven't quite found the answer why our defensive structures are like that. And it seems to be people are running out and trying to do spot tackles and fix the issue by themselves. I think we beat the dolphins as our back line just sticks in its defensive structure. We've even didn't seem too stressed about this at the press conference and we hold them back. My pick is though that we're going to do what we did to Penris a few weeks ago at home where we just come out and we play so hard in the first 20 minutes and blow them off the part. I mean, I thank you so much for your time this morning.
Have a beautiful weekend up the wires and joy your rugby league. Jeremy Wells and Monias to it. The Houdaki breakfast. Jerry and Monia. The Houdaki breakfast. Time to play its academic. We've got a $100 bunnings voucher up for grabs. Give us a call. I'll $800 Houdaki. All you'll need to do is answer three questions out of five. Get three right and you will take home that voucher. $100 of our chair up for grabs this morning. Let's go to Tim from Hamilton. Good morning Tim. How you going? Yeah, good morning. It does. The story getting there. I see you have an arthritic knee just like Jerry. No, not your own mind. Oh, okay. Great. It's just Jerry's there. Are you a photographer? I do. You have a little bit of photography. Are you from Hamilton? I am. Will you be representing St. John's College in Hamilton this morning? That agree. Okay. I'm having a look down. I can't use their on there already once.
There they are. St. John's. I remember debating against St. John's once. Tim, do you want to take? I can't remember. What was the moot? I can't remember. I remember debating St. John's but I've put that out of my mind. Would you like to take? We've got some some Libra sanitary pads in front of us here Tim. And we've got the trivia. We've got the questions inside of the pads. Just the question for you. Do you want the invisible questions, the extra questions, the maternity questions, or the questions from the ultra thin? Any recommendation? I would go. Well, we've had the maternity. We've had the invisible to speak with. Why don't you go the extra? You seem like an extra sort of a guide, Tim. I'm an extra. Okay. All right. Tim, answering the extra questions from the Libra sanitary pads, $100 about to wrap for grads. Let's get into it. Who wrote the novel? 1984. George Orwell.
What is the largest internal organ in the human body? Is it the Luddha? What is the largest island in the world? Australia? No, it's Greenland. Which famous character lived at 221 B Baker Street? I feel it's fine. Two easy. Two easy. They teach them well at some jobs. That's for sure. I was part of that space and seemed like they'd made it to your nature. Tell, do you want to hear the last question, Tim? Oh, go on. This actually would have been your specialist category, I think. And what year did the 9-11 Tiro tax take place? 2001. Yes, he does a lot of research into that. Tim, congratulations about $100 about coming your way. The whole day.
On Friday's tradition here on the Hodecki Breakfast, we do the Friday countdown. We can down the top five things in particular. Category in the past. We found some interesting things. Beaches, rivers, dogs, sharks, eons, fonts. That's good. Top five eons. I believe we even have a funky stung for it. It goes something like this. Last week we did numbers. I think it was at a million. Was the number one number? I think the number one was actually no one knows by Queen's and Stone Age. This week, there's been a debate I hear raging out in the office around nuts. Is this right, Zoe? Yeah, we were just talking out in the office and there was a bag of mixed nuts. And I just wanted to see which one everyone reached for. What was the consensus out in the office? Cashew, quite popular. Yes. I actually preferred the hazel. Okay. Okay. It's interesting. That is. How, yeah, depends on what you've got in your mixed nuts because some nuts don't go with other nuts.
No. Whenever I get hold of the mixed nuts, you just need to chocolate out of that, don't you? And then leave the nuts in there. I'm talking about you. That's a trail mix. I'm talking scrawling. I think you'll get on a scrawling. Controversially, I don't like nuts. I don't like nuts. Wait on. I don't like nuts. There's something wrong with you. You don't like cake. I don't like cake. And you don't like nuts. Two of the greatest things on God's green earth. Nuts to me just tastes like wood. I feel like I'm eating tree bark when I'm eating a handful of nuts that are so dry. Wait for a second. I can hold on. Hi, telleries. Don't bloody plug that into your fitness pal, mate. That's good fits. Yeah. Amans. Are you saying you don't like almonds? I'm saying. I don't like almonds. I certainly don't like almond derivatives like almond milk. How do you milk an almond? Walnuts? Don't like walnuts. Cashos. I don't like cashos. Where do you sit on pecan? I will not sit on a pecan.
In a pie or otherwise. Are you telling me you don't like a pistachio if it's been D-shell? I'm telling you shelled or otherwise. I don't like a pistachio. I'm going to save you some time here, Jerry. There's not a nut you can name that I will like because I don't like nuts. Yeah. Don't make a Damian nuts with chocolate around the outside. Now I like chocolate. So you'll be able to trick me, yeah, for sure. And I'm going to be on a scorched almond. What's that got inside of it? Is that an almond? Yeah, that's an almond. I think the clue is in the name, I suppose. Nutella. Oh. Maybe. Oh, scorched almonds. I could live on scorched almond. If someone just didn't mean there is no more food in the world. Yes. You're just going to eat scorched almonds this whole life. Yes. I'd be like, sign me up. Oh, dude, there's my favorite part of Christmas. Over Christmas I documented every box of scorched almonds I ate, which was nine. Yeah. I could eat that box of those no problems in one setting. Yes, no 100% here. But it's the chocolate. It's not the almond really.
Let's be honest with ourselves. The combo though, devastating on the guts. Yeah. It's a dangerous combination. That's one. Okay, 500 people have texted the exact same thing off the back of my not liking nuts. Do you want to guess what it is? What's wrong with you? No. You're not a human? No. You're a loser. Zoe, do you want to guess? No. She knows what it is. How about these nuts? Maniah. What about these nuts? What about these nuts? What about a nutsack? So those are the texts that have come through on 3, 4, 8. Yeah, we're all those nuts. Are there any days in the series? These nuts? What about these nuts? Dice nuts. I don't know what Dice has got to do with it. Can you give Mattie McGuire a happy 26th birthday thanks guys from Claude. Macadamia and Cashew Hazel Walnutz chocolate almond. Walnutz. Hazel nuts are the worst, but then I hate Nutella. Okay, well look. Brazil nuts. I mean, what? You don't like a Brazil nut? He's two nuts that I can abide by. Three. Actually, I'll give you three. How about that?
Ginger nuts. Big fan of a ginger nut. I love a ginger nut. I don't mind a wing nut. A wing nut? Yeah, some with giant ears. I don't like those. All right. But the actual bit of hardware there. Oh, very easy to turn. Yeah, get it finger tight. Yep. And then those novelty nuts that the like hardcast dudes hang off the back of their... You know, when you pull up in traffic and there's just a set of nuts hanging off the back of the... You... Yeah, they had a mountain oyster. No, I haven't had a mountain oyster. Maybe I could be swayed. What about you? My favorite nut. I'll go make a Damier, particularly chocolate coated. I'll go. I love a cashew. I mean, there isn't a nut I don't like, actually. The humble peanut. Love a peanut. Yeah, that is not... I'm a nut guy. I've always been a nut guy. What they say about you. Texture on 3-4. Three, my sister-in-law's nuts. And looks at busing a nut. How do you look? It gives a text. 3-4-8-3. All gives a call. I 800 Hodaki. Top five nuts.
Nevermas, Jerry and Minaya. Set the Hodaki Breakfast Podcast to auto-download. And your podcast settings. It's the Friday. Top five. Today we're talking about the top five nuts. 3-4-8-3. Oh, 800 Hodaki. You can vote on what you reckon. Here's Andrew from NAPES, who's on the line. Morning, Andrew. How are you? Morning, mate. I'm well, how are you? Good. You're fan of nuts, Andrew. Yeah, a little bit. I just wonder if we could delineate twin nuts and legumes. Ah, isn't that nuts? I think that grows on the vine there for it. It's more like a broad bean. Yes, and it's a tough hue. Is that right? So a peanut, not technically a nut? No, it grows on a vine. Okay, tell me this, then, Andrew, the nut he expert from NAPES. Coconut. I love the nut. Is a coconut enough? No. Ah, okay. It's a fruit, isn't it?
Yeah, I think it might be. No, it doesn't have seeds, isn't it? I'll tell you what, if you ask someone for a handful of nuts, and they brought your coconut, you'd be pissed. So now we're going to... What is your favourite nut, then, Andrew? I'm with you, mate. I think it's like eating wood, but I do like a cashew. That's just about it. Holy and solely. Really, Andrew? You think I like wood? I mean, I... So, do well, I mean... Don't tell me you don't like cake. Do you like cake, Andrew? I was a baker for 30 years, so I'm sick of bread, but I love a cake. Thank you. Good to know, thank God for that, because if you do... If you tick both of those boxes, then I start to worry about you like the nut. All right. Yeah, walnuts can hop off too. That's walnuts. They're rubbish. They're rubbish. You need to play walnuts. They're gun-runny mirrors. Walnuts, three of rotten walnuts. Yeah, that'll be a good deal. The one thing I would say about nuts that I don't love, they get stuck in your teeth. And I find that annoying, but that's the same with chips for me.
I don't like the... You eat them, and then you spend the next five minutes... Flaffing around with your tongue. In your teeth. Gross. Getting rid of bits and pieces. All right, thanks very much for the call, Andrew, from NAPES. Oh, there's a bit of audio we've dug up this morning from Mash around. Oh, dear. What was this? So, Mash, of course, former button pusher here on the Haruki breakfast. He wasn't allowed to talk. We gave him my belief. He was allowed seven percent here time. We're just trying to keep him down. He's sort of got ideas about the station for a while. They're instead of interjecting on a whole lot of breaks. So we shut it down. But then we allowed him to break out of his cage and ask a question of Chris Hipkins. And so this was the first ever political question that Mash was allowed to ask. I was wondering if there'll be any juice to remove from NUT. Nuts are processed food. They're dried processed food. So, no, they're not dried.
What about these NUTs, Prime Minister? Oh, I don't know what they are. I'm not here very clearly, mate. That was an old man's nappy party, Salon. Absolutely disgusting. That's right, Chris Hipkins was the Prime Minister at that stage. How dare Mash ask the Prime Minister of New Zealand a question like that? Loads the tone of the office. Should we get into the top five? Let's rattle through the number five Brazil Nuts. I ate 20 Brazil Nuts in one sitting and subsequently got Selenium poisoning. If Brazil is talking about that, we don't have Selenium in the soil, man. Don't we? Do not have enough Selenium in New Zealand soil. God knows what's wrong with us. But for some reason, we don't. People often say, you know what, you'll solve that issue with the Brazil NUT. OK. Number four, the Humber Wing Nuts. Just being able to tighten something, finger tight without the use of tools, a useful breakthrough in humanity. Yeah, invented in 1907 in the States.
Is that right? No, it's not. Number three, dusty anxiety ridden shameful Sunday morning. Remind me I'm alive NUT. OK. Number two, scorched almond. It's hard to go past a scorched almond. And I think anyone who's been listening along for the last 10 minutes will know. Again, all we do here is we collate the votes. We don't pick them. Scorched almond, if you're listening, maybe it's time to redo the packet. It's an annoying packet. What? It's hard to get into. You've got to put your hands all the way. For me, my hands don't fit into the scorched almond packet. So you've got to tip them and then they end up going all over the floor. And then you go, no, no, no. OK. I remember you dropped dumping an entire packet. Oh, no, that was Maltese's, wasn't it? All over a hotel room and it was definitely worse. Anyway, so scorched almond is number two, which means that you could only have been one number one. And your number one on the top five nuts is days. Of course it is. Jerry and Mino. The Hoda-Key breakfast. Oh, be my girl.
Are you going to be my girl? Yeah, yeah. Hey, Betty Aido and my Hoda-Key breakfast. It's a bunnings trade. So the Cambridge Classic BBQ Festival is now into its second year this weekend, around 125 cooks are going to be facing off. So there's some individuals, there's some teams as well. The meat that's cooked is judged on appearance, creativity, texture, taste, overall impression, I think. And joining us now on the Hoda-Key breakfast, a passionate competition barbecuer, the brains behind this year's competition. Kiron Murphy, welcome to this show, Kiron. Hey, thanks for having me. How's it going? Good. I hear that you own quite a few barbecues yourself, Kiron. Could you tell me how many barbecues you own? Yeah, it's going into a problem. We're probably at about 27 or 28 now.
Jesus Christ. We're there. Yeah. Here are those who got spread down. Got some gear in the South Island and a few over in Australia actually as well. Oh, okay. Most of them. Yeah. You don't walk out onto your deck and there's 27 barbecues there. Most of them are cluttered in the garage, which makes the garage relatively unusable, but probably got about maybe 18 sitting at home at the moment. Yeah. It's a hell of a fire, has it? I think I know the answer to this next question, but gas or charcoal? One gas, everything else is charcoal. Yeah. Right, okay. So you still need to get, you need a gas for something quick. Is that what you're saying? If you need to do some quick barbecuing, you go gas. Otherwise, you're preparing the charcoals. I think these days we're doing everything on charcoal. It's just sort of never, never got rid of a barbecue. And when I first bought a barbecue a long time ago, it was a gas grill.
But from that day, from then on, it's always been charcoal. We've got a couple of pellet grills there as well. When did you realise you had a problem current? I think when you start sort of getting enthusiastic and you're like, watch a few videos online and come across this whole world of competition barbecue. We went along to see a couple of the competitions. But I think the moment we actually went and did one, that's when the really started getting hooked on the competitive nature of it as well. And just that drive to, I suppose, create the best barbecue you can. How many beers is the perfect amount for barbecuing? I sort of had to learn the hard way that in competition barbecue, probably zero until you're finished cooking. Some people can get away with more. But as you know, some of these larger cuts of meat that is a,
it can be a long day. So pace yourself. I think the short answer is that home maybe, you know, 24, 24 if you take it easy, but at competition, you've got to suddenly reduce that amount. It's the competition, Karen, of there's some teams competition as well. Like how do you work in a barbecue team? How does that work? Teams range. Some people, there's a few that still do it that do do it solo. I think the optimum number is somewhere between two and four depending on the team. Some teams have just defined roles. And our team, some of the teams to manage the fire and another team is sort of tend to the meat and the presentation. Given that most of the competitions have before hand in categories, chicken, pork ribs, pork and brisket on the hour, on consecutive hours. Some teams find it best to sort of just pivot up those meats and each of their competitors might focus on a particular protein.
How much cleaning is involved after a tournament, Karen? Do you spend the next two weeks cleaning those things down? Yeah, Barbecue's a missy hobby sport and the cleanups a bit you dread. I'm probably pretty bad at the lane that as long as I can, but yeah, there can be a good good week of a good few days of clean up there. And when you get around to it, how do you clean that bitch? If you get away with it, the water blouse is not too bad. Yes, we stood on this last summer. Yes, it works a treat. Water blaster. And it does. We've got some pretty, some of our more rugged bits, Barbecue's, but it does a great job of getting things off the, off the, off the grates and the grills in that in particular. I'm telling you, start a summer, you get the, get the water blaster, do the deck, do the barbecue, you get to go. Yep, just, just new gear, everything in the backyard and you, and you set.
Yeah. Karen, are you a hot plate or are you a grill guy? I mean, if I'm talking just a steak, if you've just got a, let's just say Scotch fill it. Are you going, are you going grill with the lines or are you going hot plate with that thing? At home, I like to do a little, I do like the hot plate effect. We have competition steak, which we're doing on Sunday. And we've got, we use specific grill grates to try and get crosshatches and that's sort of more of a appearance effect. But I think personally, I like the sort of, the sort of more consistent, fair and crust that you get from a, from a cast iron hot plate. Karen Murphy, barbecue competitive barbecue enthusiast. Best of luck. Are you going to be competing in the Cambridge Classic Barbecue Festival this weekend? I will, I'll be doing that and also cooking a whole hog and a whole pig and it's going to be a certainly a busy weekend, juggling all of that, but it's going to be a lot of fun.
And yes, it will be picking up today and we'll be down there tomorrow and Sunday and open to the public and this fun family event with some beer and music and barbecue. Jesus, sounds like a great time, Karen. Thanks so much for your time this morning. Thanks for having me. Cheers. I'm going to be in the night with the Hodaaki breakfast. Jerry and Minaya, the Hodaaki breakfast. Sports chat with ACC head, G Lane, brought to you by X-Fortholtra, the beer for here. Welcome to the studio, ACC head, G Lane, you'll be excited about the A.B.s game on Sunday because it's at 9 a.m. Oh, that's at 9 a.m. Not at 3 a.m., right? Coming like a zombie. Don't spend Sunday just walking around in a day, just kind of not knowing what's going on. I tell you what, sleep deprivation is a cheap way to get drunk. Because you just feel wasted all day. It's, it wouldn't drive. You certainly wouldn't drive. No, it's when you watch those all black scams in the middle of the night and you stay up,
you realize that 90% of a hangover is just you didn't sleep. Yeah. That's actually got nothing to do with how many beers you had. Yeah, it's true. It's just that you didn't sleep at all. It's insane. Yeah, it's true. So 9 a.m. Yeah, it's just a very beautiful. So the teams have just built all blacks. Yeah. It's just been announced at eight interesting Rituala, or at 10, no, no, I've even been in the 23. Yeah, that's interesting. I didn't pick that. I did, I mean, I'm not surprised that Rituala's getting a start. This game does not count. Do you think they think that? Yeah, I think they do. It's the bolt on and bolt on. Well, they'll know in their heart of hearts that the series has been lost in South Africa. They've they've lost that series in South Africa. And Cody Taylor, who's been named captain, congratulations Cody Tech, Taylor, but the most honorable thing he can do when your blacks went on Sunday and it's too all, and they get that wounding trophy and they split it in half. He gives it back to the South-Concapitan. They put it back together, stands back and goes, you've actually won the season. That would be an honorable thing to do. That would be a very New Zealand. Yeah. Magnanimous thing to do. Because it's true. Yeah. Come on, man. I had to admit it to a South-Confriend the other day.
So yeah, you won the series. I mean, I can't. I can't put my hand on my heart and say that it's going to be too old if we win the bolt on and bolt on more. You got your finger on the pulse ACC here, G-Lay, when it comes to sports admin. Can you tell me why they were in five games? Can you tell me why they were in five games? Well, I just won more. I actually would have preferred three then four. Well, the thing is they should have just said there's a three-match series in South Africa and there's a festival won in Baltimore. Just do that. I mean, that's all I needed to be said. It was like, there's a three-match series in South Africa to full-tower, blah, blah, blah. And by the way, we're all going to fly on the same plane. Yeah. Two Washington. We're going to hang around Washington, Lime Scooter around looking at the memorials, whatever. Then we're going to go to Baltimore, get on the pass, play a game. A route. That's kind of... But the question I've got for you is, was there more money to me? Because there's a money maker, right? We all know that. We all know that they were making money out of us. More money than a distance, South Africa? We're in a tholzer. There were 100,000 people in there. Why? I mean, there's seven economies, not exactly booming, but you go to America and people are willing to pay 500 US. That's good.
I watch a rugby game. Are they all black-spaned? Are they New Zealanders? Are they South Africans or are they just Randos? Ex-pats. Loads of expats I imagine. They're probably dragged along a few. But I mean, they're expecting a pretty significant crowd there. They've made way more money. 92,000 more than 92,000 in Sweden? Yeah. I reckon. I reckon they will. America's where it's at. I mean, that's why I look at that fee for World Cup. That was the most profitable tournament in history. Going to America. They pay big dollar. Oh, right. Okay. So the ticket price is a higher. Oh, that was a lot. Oh, okay. Yeah, not as high as, I mean, have you heard about the prices in this Super others? In Melbourne. In Melbourne. In Melbourne today, 10 o'clock this morning that kicks off, 49ers versus the Rams. Yeah. Cheapest ticket, 500 Australian in the nosebleeds. Jesus Christ. What? How many people fit in the MCG? 90,000? Yep. And the standard ticket kind of a little bit better tickets are all 1,000 plus. And it's sold out. It's sold out. Yeah. Almost immediately.
Yeah. Did you see the, have you seen any of the press conferences with the American coaches? One of them cannot wrap his head around time differences. I was wrong with kids. It's yesterday. How does that work? How can it be a different day? Very interesting this one as well with these two teams and their approaches on how they've come into this game. Basically, the 49ers have been there for a week. So they're, you know, they're trying to acclimatize. The Rams have gone the completely of the opposite direction. They are not leaving the time zone of America. They arrived 24 hours before kick off. And they are staying in US time zone. They've charted a plane with 72 lifelapse beds on it. Oh, really? So they all come over. And basically they are not getting out of step with America. And they will just fly home immediately after the game. Oh my god. And we're sharing a charted abulge more with the same box. It's crazy. It's crazy stuff. But it could be interesting to see who performs and who doesn't with those different tactics. Yeah. Because they're going with, we don't want to disrupt our circadian rhythms and all that stuff. So they're just going to get in and out. Boom. I mean, this is though a Los Angeles Ramser.
This is a team that not used to changing time zones a lot. Yeah. You're not a main like, okay, there's a little bit of a time zone shift across the, but New Zealand teams, for example, when you travel to see, I would have asked what the all blacks do. Because when you're used to traveling huge distances like New Zealand teams, you surely have a better understanding around the science of that than Americans used to see that. I know. They, you know what, the LA Rams, they sent an entire squad of 20 support staff six months ago on this exact same trip. They're doing Ricky to do a Ricky, but a more a physical Ricky. So they were all monitored and everything and they sent for God's sake. Why would they care about the game so much? There's so much money involved in any felt it's the richest God sports competition in the world. IPL IPL IPL is just behind it, but it is got so much money involved. It is so much. Is it four competition points? Yes, this is the opening game for these two teams. Yeah, it started yesterday. Right. There's not many games I suppose over here. Yeah, counts. Yeah, it's a little bit. Right. It's a big part of it. Yeah. I'm one of the moment. Oh my God. Look at us. It's out of control. I'm going to turn. I'm going to turn. I'm concerned.
Have you ever seen sports merge before? No, I'm concerned. I'm massively concerned. Not only, I mean, people have blamed me for a lot of losses, but I'm blaming half of New Zealand. I mean, this bandwagon is the actual, this bandwagon is under severe strain. Yeah. What happens with these bandwagon fans if we lose this weekend? We right. Just jumped on. We right. We right. It's going to be the... Yeah. I'm a good news that I'm not going. I'll be at sports and rec watching that. And if you want to join me, come along. There are some great news. There was a great news. There was a great news news. Great news news. There was a great news news. Yeah, great news news news. I'm not going. Unless the dolphins get in touch. Unless the dolphins get in touch. And I'm more than happy. We're happy to sit in the coach's box with the dolphins, get him behind Cobboh and the hammer. So no, that. I mean, look, it is rich fever pictures. It's hard to describe. Yeah. That's good. It's just good times at the moment. I'm loving the passion. What do you think you're doing right now? Looking at all this. Probably booking a Super-Round non-Gezabot.
Oh my god. Don't make any stand on the Super-Round. Okay, we won't. It's a good time. Shit draw. ACC here to lane. Thanks for your time this morning. Jerry and Monoy. The Hoda-Key breakfast. You can get hold of any time you like on 800 Hoda-Key. That's our phone number. All you can text us on 3483. Yeah, just like Grant did earlier this morning. If I fell as it's not raining and graymouth this morning, we'll go make clear up and rain soon. Kyle replied. Thanks Grant. To which Grant has now replied. Thank you, Kyle. It's nice to know at least one person listens to the issues. Vitt Matter. Okay, so we've got a Kyle Grant kind of a thing that we are facilitating. Do you think Colin Grant want to get together? I think they like having one degree of separation from each other. Maybe they'd like it if they were not one degree separated. Look, I'll leave that up to Kyle and Grant get in touch if you'd like each other's phone numbers. We can tee that up. Up to you guys.
And if anyone else would like to have a conversation with someone through the Magic of our Texts per Shandon, go for it. It's good to not have them directed at me for once. Speaking of 10 things up. How are you feeling about your weekends football game? Your first ever football game coming up this weekend? So there's been a couple of developments. So one is I have eroped in a mate to play on the other team. He's actually really good at soccer. I think he played for a club very recently. And it was even a player of the year for that club. But I know that he... We've made a point of being on opposite teams so we can mark each other. And I think that there's going to be a lot of just sort of dicking around in the backfield going on. Are you going to go with a bit of Argy Bard? A bit of Argy Bard. I think we've come to a gentleman's agreement. But if he tries anything because he is a good football player, you know, if he tries to show me up or something, I'll be coming and studs up.
I just watched the Vinny Jones documentary. I've got a couple of tips. Good thinking. I was concerned about your footwear. Have you sorted that out? Because famously we were going to wear beavers World Cup winning 2011 gold-kicking boots, which you own, which are an amazing piece of memory by the way. I know and probably should be in a glass case at the Papa. But I need them this weekend, unfortunately. Now, is that going to erode the manner of those boots? Possibly the most famous boots in the country? Sure. But I need a very advanced game and I can't be slipping over out there. So Graham Henry is the coach of your team. It's going to be interesting. You've got to go up to him in the next one. I want to know if you've seen these boots before. Yeah, because I reckon that's... You can't be those boots. These boots ring a bell. Well, what happens if it comes down to one last kick and I'm taking the penalty? What would you rather I had? My golf shoes on or beavers World Cup winning boots? I'd rather you wouldn't be in my team. Well, I came down to you kicking one last kick. I'd rather not be in your team. I agree. That if I get that opportunity, I'm going to serve myself up a bicycle kick.
But anyway, the other thing is I have developed an ankle issue. Oh, no. Yeah, I've just got a little, just a little niggle that I'm carrying with me. Look, they're seen to the season. He runs carrying something. So I'm not going to use it as an excuse. The season of what? My first ever game of soccer. The other concern that I have is I'm going to the Warriors on Saturday night. Oh, no. Notorious pantsman, Joel Harrison's in town. Oh, rubbish. He wants to go for a beer at Lily World after the game win or lose. We're on the bows and the game will just be as if it's notorious pantsman, Joel Harrison. Games on Sunday, afternoons. Oh, dude. You're in trouble, man. If you want to see a man, tear his hamstring off the bone, come and watch that. It's a duke and he had you not a distance. We don't need to. Thank you, Zoe. Thank you very much. Jeremy Wells and Manias Stewart find them on Instagram at Hodaki breakfast. We are going to the Black Clash in January, January 22. I'm going to be a tagly oval. Tim Sal, there's been name for Captain of Team Cricket.
Who else we got? We got Israel. Dag's going to be there. Yep. Lou Vincent. Karen Reed's going to be there. Here we Captain of Team rugby. There's a bunch more people. So Team rugby this year is called Team Rugby in Friends, which is very intriguing to me. So I wonder who they're going to rope in. Every year they've got a pretty famous wild card in each team. In the past they've had Mike Hussey, they've had Chris Gale, Brian Lara, Andy Lee, one half of Hamish and Andy, you figure out which one? Took a great catch. Took a game winning catch on the boundary. It was miraculous. Yeah, the honey badger. I'm the honey badger. That's right. Was useful. Yeah. How too dead? Not useful. No. You're useless. I bet, Unk. I would say there should have been Team rugby and enemies would have been quite good. You know, a whole lot of people who... Hey rugby. Did not get along. Yeah. You know, we want to get it on because we don't get along. Yeah, I don't mind that. Our next Wednesday, actually, people should know Jerry is away next week. It's going to be me and Lane and next Wednesday were going down the crush switch.
We're going to be doing this show live from Riverside Market. We're going to have a bunch of people down there. I think there will be a few more announcements about teams and things like that. Also, tickets go on sale. And also, a huge revelation. Another pointless world first for radio, Hodoki. Something I know that you've been passionate about for quite some time. Yeah. We are unveiling the first ever radio, Hodoki mascot. It is about bloody time. Yeah. I've been pushing for this, I reckon, for 10 years. You, your theory is that if we're to be taken seriously, we need a mascot. Of course you do. Every proper organisation, every loved organisation, it's got a mascot. And... TVNZ's got a mascot. TVNZ's got plusy. Yeah. What is that? Not loved. It's a plus sign. Okay, of course. Yeah. A beloved... It's not even big. Like, it should have been plus sized. Yeah. You know, like, if you're going to do it TVNZ, come on, put it decent. Yeah. Get a plus sized... Plus sign. Plus sized, plusy. I will say the warrior's one's a little bit weird as well. It's just like a guy in a suit with the warrior's logo as his head.
The warrior man. Is he...what's he called? Warrior man. I don't even know. Is he a man? No, he's called. You've got to have a name. You've got to have a bit about you like Steele Dan down on the County Smutaco. The Steele's mascot. Back in the day, he was just a guy in the Akit who spray-painted his face silver and called himself Steele Dan. His name... Oh, Tiki, his name. Tiki's the warrior's mascot. Steele Dan wants Chas kids around after a pretty heated contract dispute in the late 90s. Steele Dan chased children around with a raw chicken once. I think it was relieved it was Judy's after that. Well, let's not forget the rabbit eyes, the rabbit eyes rabbit. He's got a lot of punching darts out of the back of the venue. Let's not forget, G Lane was famously rambo the ram for the Canary Rams basketball team and almost died when he hung himself on 70s night when the gold medallion he was wearing got caught in the open of dunk contest. And I was a mascot as well.
Table Talk chicken back in the early 90s when I was getting changed in the changing room there and saw Jorli Coney's breasts. So I was also to a lesser extent the LJ hooker bear at the strawberry fear and whamety for a number of years. I think the record was I was kicked 34 times in the balls and one afternoon. What is it with getting kicked in the balls mascot? That's a real... You got to wear a box. Kids cannot help themselves. They say a mascot, they're like, oh, did you look a lot like? And they're like, how about I kick you in the balls? Yeah, you got to wear a box. Check that in your top five. It does account that I wore a sign that said, honk if you're a backbone. Is that a bit of a mascot? No, because you're not an assault. Could you see your face? Yep. But everything else was signed. Huge sign. I think if you can see the face, it's not assault. That's my feeling. So Wednesday in Christchurch for the Black Clash, I'm sure they are loving that we've absolutely hijacked this. It is a radio-hodarchy in conjunction with the alternative commentary collective mascot. I believe you've had some input.
I believe Jey Lane has had some input. So I can't wait to find out what this thing looks like. Have a lovely weekend. Go the Warriors. And I won't see you on Monday, but Manai, well, this is the Hadoge briefcase. The Hoda-Aki breakfast. Build big rewards with new PowerPass pro-rewards by Bunnings.
