Shearing me wells and manias to it find them on Instagram add Hodaki breakfast I'll tell you who would love that, Jiren and that's Reese Methison comedian who's on the podcast today? Get a race. How are you? I'm good guys. How you doing? So? So good so good that did he through a hell of a party didn't he? I know. How you doing? Did you ever go to any of his freakouts? Freak off, Jerry. Freak off. Don't you bloody dead name him? Yeah I was there. I was a Talboy. A lot of oil seepage, a lot of squeegeeing floor squeegees into a centre drain. But you never got to freak off yourself? No, no, no, no. And you know that's one of the huge regrets of my life. A feast for the senses I would imagine being a being the Talboy for the freak off. Yeah people never talk about smell

enough when they're talking about those sort of sensual situations. And it really is the overwhelming sense. I would have thought that everybody at the freak off would be smell and pretty good actually. I thought there'd be some pretty expensive you know unique sense going on there. And I think you are correct but I think crucially they smell really good initially. Yes. Okay. And it adeteriorates pretty quickly with the carrying on. Yeah. Yeah the carrying on. There was some carrying on man. There was some carrying on going on there. I mean we're making light of something. He was he is he is he is he is in jail. He is. I believe so. Oh I heard if you talk to him recently. He's a cure. No, no he is a cure. I haven't spoken to him. I never dealt directly with him. Right. As people. Yeah. A lovely woman he worked with called Jolane. She was the one. Okay. Yep. Sorting it all out. She did most of the Edmund. Man she was good on the Edmund actually. Looking back on it. She was quite an administrator wasn't she. She could learn a lot from him and I could learn a lot from her. There's a lot that she does

that I don't understand at all. Quite frankly because it's disgusting but she could convince me. We actually had someone on the radio show this week who who yes you like this. You love this story, right? She called in and name was Amy. Well that's the name that she gave. And her lame claim to fame was that she danced in a pink sailors outfit on a table at Prince Andrew's 50th birthday. Wow. Yeah. Switzerland. We are all but two degrees away from Jolane Maxwell aren't we? That's incredible. Yeah. She was paid. Talk about a near miss. I know. Because I said I do remember any of the other people that were there and she's like oh yeah well the guy who I worked for. So she she did some work for a particular wealthy swistered. So it's up in Verbia which is like one of the ski resorts in Switzerland. And Prince Andrew and Fergie had a shallay there. Interesting place Verbia. I've been and it's a super interesting place. You can't. I've been to Verbia. You can't. I have friends who who live there for like five years.

Was that Jeffrey and um it's not Jeffrey. Oh it's not Jeffrey. No it's not Jeffrey. I bet he was on the island. I bet Jeffrey would have been there before. But it's it's full of particularly wealthy Europeans. But the interesting thing with the shallay system is you're only allowed because the swiss are so rule focused. They're like they're like Germans without any sense of humor. So they've created. I thought Germans were Germans without any sense of humor. Germans Germans have a sense of humor. Germans can be funny. They're very blunt. Yeah. They're very blunt. This the swiss have just swiss can't be funny. immense rules and banks full of Nazi gold. Yeah. They're right. So with their shallay system you have to have buildings that look like swiss shallows. So they have that particular style. And you can't build them over a certain size. So you're not allowed some giant skyscraper version. The monstrosity it has to so it's really cute because it all just looks exactly the same. However what they do allow is for you to do things underneath the shallay.

So a lot of them are four stories deep of just the craziest and insane. So you do whatever you want under the ground. But in fact when I was over there I was going up a gondola and and Ed Lee who I was saying with he was what guy that was living over there. Former ski Sunday host Ed Lee. He was like see that that's that's he point and I didn't say this the other day he pointed out Prince Andrews place when we're going up he's like that's pronounced place. He would know it was quite modest. But underneath down below you just don't know what's going on. Richard Branson famously I saw Richard Branson when I was there he used to write a bike around and his place was like seven stories down. Oh I bet I bet like you've the nefariousness that must happen underground and what goes on down there. We always thought the elites were lizard people but they're more akin to mold people. They're burrowers. Yeah. So so super very crazy place.

What was he doing over there if you don't mind me asking? I was staying with Ed and Sean Ed. Yeah yeah. Staying with Ed and Sean who were as I said living over there it was it was working over there and and they said you got to come and stay at some stage so I took the family over this is probably eight years ago eight years ago now and that place is beautiful and cool and amazing and if you're not staying with your friends at their house like us rapingly expensive it's just horrific you know it is that's crazy expensive and that's coming from you too so that's crazy. I can't imagine how much things are now because for me a motel and Tim Roof do me. They wouldn't done enough that let you in they'd be like look at this guy unless I brought a bunch of towels and a mop or something and I was like I'm here for the yeah yeah so she was along anyway Amy was along it was party and she danced on the table

in her pink sailors outfit I think partly because Andrew was in the Navy. Yes he was he served in the Forklins. That's right. That's where he had his experience where he can't sweat anymore. Oh right he can't look allegedly. One of the craziest defences ever mounted the I can't sweat. It's it is second only to the guy who worked the mall kosk that did phone repairs who was caught blew two thing a woman's nodes to his own phone and when she had costed him and started filming him he pretended to faint and then tried to wipe them out. Phenomenal defense. Incredible. Phenomenal that's what like what prey do in the wild. I just played dead. How many played possible. He literally played possible. I love that and just for how long how long was he willing to wait there before that situation was resolved. It's not a bad way to pass a shift. It doesn't yeah it doesn't work on radio when you feel like you're being accused and you just no you can't do it.

Reese Matthewsson you are on Taskmaster season seven. I can't remember what number it's up to now. Seven. Seven yeah. You are one of the one of the one of the cast. Are you aware of how big a following Taskmaster has internationally because we weren't on this show until Jerry started receiving a bunch of feedback from overseas. Oh yeah. Taskmaster fans are rabbit. Yeah. And they are I'm a Taskmaster fan. I love with the UK version and from there they just go they just want more. Yeah. It's their it's their addiction where they want as much as they can get and if they have to watch the New Zealand they will. Yeah and so they'll settle for it. And so when Jerry started there was a right and wrong way to be the Taskmaster that you weren't really aware of. Nah. I mean I'd watched a bit of Taskmaster UK because I needed to do it but also after watching about four episodes I realized that this was going to be problematic for me if I

kept watching it because I was going to be attempting to be basically Greek Davies and yeah. Doing an impression rather than doing what makes you used. Yeah and I realized I was not going to be able to do a very good impression of that because he's amazing and I mean the whole show was designed by Alex Horn for Greg Davies and himself. So Alex Horn is the Taskmaster's assistant. He owns the production company that I own the show. Oh does he? He owns the format. He comes up with all of the tasks on the UK one and most of the tasks around the rest of the world A race. No I think each version has their own like team working on it but he will often steal a task. He'll do as well on a local version he'll go. Thanks for having that. Yeah but he also made Greg Davies the taskmaster because he's like Greg's going to be great at just coming and passing some judgment being in our soul and then going home. I read a great comment not like last week about the distinction between Taskmaster said Greg Davies is a despotic tyrant and Jeremy Wells is a bored pervert.

This is why I don't read the comments. That is why I don't go online. Yeah I think I read a lot of comments but I would never make one and the idea of being a person who comments on the internet. Oh my god. You have to take that into account if it's a pinion you're actually reading. Yeah and how much time they have on their hands. You've done with your last week but yes. Yeah I think that's fine in my experience and this is an interesting thing for you as well Reese but I think that's fine and you can apply that logic most of the time if you're well-rested if you're feeling okay about yourself if you've had a good day but as soon as you're tired you're maybe not feeling 100% confident in yourself whatever and you read some of all of the sun they cut right into your soul and you start forgetting about all that other stuff. Yeah the ones that stick with you are the ones that you agree with. Yes. There's a small part of it you go and I can see that it's not the ones that they just go this person's shit and they just dunk on you go well we have a difference of opinion that's

not going to matter when someone goes I thought it was okay and I thought he was a bit boring you go oh god yeah because you were going was I a bit boring in that way. Yeah yeah yeah oh my god no that happens I can imagine it must happen in like stand up if you say you have like a you have a banny with the Mrs or you have like some sort of thing then you go and stage you're a little bit off and then everyone's like just he was shit and you're like right on your worst day that's when they go totally totally open up Instagram let's go to sucks it. Oh yeah I don't know I didn't think it's I think you go there looking for some reinforcement and it generally doesn't deliver for you that's my experience of it. I will say bored pervert hit the nail on the head though to be fair. Yeah that feels about that current. This is the thing it does it feels spot on. Reese Matthewsson you have worked on TAS Master before. Yes I wrote the studio scripts for the last season of New Zealand and one of the seasons of Australia that hasn't come out yet. So being a contestant how much different was that because

you knew what the whole show entailed and then now you're a contestant on the show. How much different was that? Very different I think there might have been some concern behind the scenes that because I'd worked a little bit on making the sausage that I would kind of see through the tricks you know those those tasks that are there to deliberately upset the contestants and without spoiling anything that was not effective. That was absolutely because they still bambers would you. Yeah well I'm just terrible under pressure. You give me a 20 minute time limit and I absolutely crumble. So there's you don't have the time to think okay if I was writing the task what would I do and how would I mess them up you just go oh god I have to do this thing and get supreme tunnel vision. So yeah it was it was a really different experience. It's like when you're watching like a quiz show on on telly and you're nailing it and then everyone goes it's much harder in the studio. Yeah it's so much harder once you're actually in it and port and pause there and he's just following

you around with his little quips. God judging you. Not giving you a bug or all that's the thing with Paul or sending you in the wrong direction was there ever a moment race when you wished or maybe regretted the decision to go on taskmaster because I as being the taskmaster I get to watch everybody else watch their own tasks back for the first time. So obviously the studio part none of the contestants have seen any of the tasks they're not seeing themselves in the task. They don't know how many are else did they don't know how it's going to be edited together they got no idea. So the city in front of a live audience watching themselves oftentimes be quite embarrassed and humiliated doesn't do their task. When they took half an hour to do the task and another person doesn't like two seconds you got to watch that person come to realize actually humiliated themselves. So good for the audience. But I am so I get to watch you guys watch yourselves and I know what's coming up because I've watched the tasks and I sometimes watch hope fade out of a cute like I've

seen it actually drain out of faces before and that that thing that we're talking about before about feelings about yourself I've watched that just mana erode you know within seconds. Mana erosion is a great description of some taskmaster task. Yeah I didn't mind that there was one that I was I don't mind watching myself fail I've failed enough in life that like that's that's good content that's comedians we mind that stuff we've got fairly thick skin. There was one um task that was genuinely embarrassing where I made the decision to rap and I had been listening to a lot of fat Joe and big pun at the time. I had like a little playlist on the drive to the house because you do like 10 tasks a day and I had a little playlist of things that would kind of get me energized for early in the morning and set me in the right mood would always end on bad out of hell by meatloaf.

Great song. But um but I was listening to a lot of rap at the time and for some reason thought that I as a novice would have that same level of technical ability. It's a bold decision. That was that was tough that was a really tough watch this is just I've never looked like more of a honky. Yeah it's watching it watching yourself in front of a whole lot of people as well I think that's challenging. I think yeah I think maybe I'm speaking out of turn here I don't know I think for Rosen, Hawani and I it's normal but because we are ourselves on stage that's just who we're being. I think for David Morgana they're generally being a character and there's uh and they're incredible at it there is a bit of safety in that so when they take that away and it's no it's just you I think I could feel them a little bit more vulnerable I suppose. But you're like

this is nothing I have not seen before. Yeah yeah I've yeah this doesn't even make the top 10 worst things I've ever done. This week. Yeah. Commercial radio is a bit like that too. I think there's a great part you humiliate yourself and but interestingly what you find is the more you humiliate yourself the more the audience appreciate it. They love it. Yeah people people want to see the real you. They don't want the gimmick in the stack. Yeah they want to sell a person. The board perfect. Oh I think I think also they people's failures are far more interesting than their successes. I mean let's be honest successors are boring. Successors make boring stories. Hey I was really good at blah blah blah blah blah blah that's not that's not a story that's a break. I set out to do this thing and I did it and I did it. I did it. That's successful. Not a movie anyone wants to watch. No it's got to be an orientation and a complication or resolution. Yeah. And that's why we do such a terrible terrible radio show every day because it's it's open it's honest it's raw it's what people want and it's who we are. Yeah this being bad is actually better than if it was good. Yes. But we are generally at the moment

on our show searching for the most boring piece of content there very it. Yeah we went pretty close this morning with me trying to reconnect with my cat. It's called this is two boring for six 20. Yeah. And that's the question that you always say at the end. Jerry and Maniah join the compale the Hodaki Breakfast discussion group on Facebook for more. Jerry and Maniah catch the radio show from six till ten week days the Hodaki Breakfast. I tell you what the cleaning the lint filter in my dryer went very close to being the most boring thing but it's being too boring for six 20. I'm just and then I look. Race you'll be interested in this actually because I'm just I'll just bring it up here because I've got the list of yeah maybe you can tell us of these things. All of the boring things okay. Maniah got an electric toothbrush. I mean it yep I mean this this some small amount of interest immediately I want to know the price yep I want to know how long it's take like there's some there's some statistical details that have some level of intrigue yeah and we fleshed them out don't worry about that. We fleshed them out

right Maniah was having problems with the static blanket. Yeah there's a lot of static in the blanket we put over us on the couch we're getting all the electric shocks off it. Here he legs. Oh well I blamed it on my shoes. I noticed that if I wore a particular pair of shoes I'd get static shocks and I you're not grounding. I'm not grounding yeah and I was wondering if I was see this is not boring because I would have thought yeah. Fluff collecting so lint collecting in a dryer. Very boring yeah yeah. Swing down the rabbit hole of what is lint as well. What no it's not boring. Well well. I found that bloody fascinating. Hair skin and fibers right? I feel like everyone Jerry discovered he had to go good. I thought it was more fibers. I didn't know how much skin it was. Yeah. Turns out it's like 15% skin. Yeah. I just feel like everyone else thought it was. I don't have a shooting skin. I just don't like to me that I'm not shooting anything when I'm

rubbing my hands like that but I am clearly that's dust and you really sounded like a serial killer just there. I didn't realise how much it was skin but then we actually went into some interesting I thought because we were talking about using lint and pretending that you care about the environment by actually making clothes out of it. Can you? Well I think it's too much skin. What's wrong with that? Let's just let it go. Great point. That's just lint. Great point. Do we send our lint to a tannerie? Imagine all that lint that's just going to waste though and birds and then someone suggested that we should put it outside and leave it out for birds and they can make nests with it. Oh that's really nice. Isn't that cute? Little bit of human pink bats for the birdie. Yeah. Isn't that cute? Cast iron pans. Yeah. Manoeba or a cast iron pan. Rood is here. That's more about Rood's heel iron which he's got the peptides. He's on the peptides. The peptides? Yeah he's got peptides that he injects into his forehead. Racer's got such a strong heel iron that he would

and it's never even thought that you'd even worry about that. That would that's never occurred to me that. No. And so he's creeping a little bit. And so he's got these bright blue vials and they've got like a micro needle thing and he injects it. It's quite a lot of liquid to go into his skull and then after 12 weeks his heel iron is supposed to have regenerated. I imagine for some of your listeners that would be interesting because they're probably they're weighing up peptides V turkey. Well in the yeah exactly and the funny part about that is is we actually didn't do that chat in this two boring segment. It's just serious recollection of it is that it was so boring that he put it retrospectively into that segment. I just like it's a 177 back. I mean heel iron V you know peptides V turkey. Yeah. It's turkey you're right. Like but turkey is really expensive and the peptides are 170-7 dollars or they do give you money back guarantee. Slow briskut cooking. I think that was me talking about briskut. Slow cooking or briskut.

Which has changed my life. Slow cooking or briskut. I feel like you're a vegetarian so you're not interested in briskut. No I eat chicken and fish. Oh yeah. I think fish are vegetables. Otherwise some of the muscles are borderline. That's a vegetable. That's a plant. Muscles are a plant you know. Yeah it's a plant on a shell. No it's just a shell based plant. Yeah. A fish is just I suppose it's a plant with a tail and no soil. Yeah. An independent operator. And you've always said that. Pouching chicken. Zonedraught. Pouching chicken. We had a toothbrush tech update because there's new AI toothbrushes that can scan your mouth and they have little and they all inject mouthwashers in situations and they can then go onto your onto a screen and you can work out we've been brushing too much and we haven't been brushing enough. That's the most boring to me so far. Yeah. Blueberry loaf that was that was Zoe made a blueberry loaf which we ate it and provided feedback. Yeah had no love in it. And then as we said reconnecting with manais can. I actually tasted hate in

it. Yeah. A fun honest. It's a hate loaf. So those are the other pieces of boring content. So in the podcast we've been trying to pick it up a little bit. Today is going to be the first day that we bring back the fact factor. Get fact food. Get fact food. Get fact foods as what we're going and we bring a fact each and then someone has to judge which is the best fact. And Reese if you don't mind today would you do us the honor of judging our facts. Absolutely. Okay. Who would like to go first? Zoe. No. No. Okay. Okay. Miners. Miners. Reese Matthewsson related. Oh see this is pandering. Wow. Reese I need you to be objective in this. That's hard. I do like me. Hmm. See that could have gone one of two ways because he might have hated himself and that could have but you know Reese or this. I just think this is it's Reese Matthewsson related. Okay. And it involves here. Okay. So Mike this is this is a fact about here. You're here. A strand of you're here contains tiny traces of 14 different elements including

gold. Huh. It's actually it's got gold in it. Traces of gold. Tiny traces. But traces. What does that mean? It's got traces of how much here we're old. How much here would you need to smelt before you could get an ingot. Shit loads. Okay. But that's my fact. Okay. Okay. Here contains a strand of here contains traces of gold. Okay. Now allow me. Would you like to go? So. Okay. In Turkey, the country, Turkey, the meat is called India. Really? Oh, that's good. Yes. I like to call it Takiya. In Torkia. Torkia. Torkia, the meat is called India. Would you like to know why? Yes. Because when Christopher Columbus went to America famously, he thought he was in India. And when he brought Turkey's back from America to Europe,

they named them after the country they thought he'd brought them from which was India. And so that's why that it's actually called Hindi in the Turkish language. But in Turkey, Turkey's are called India. Okay. So why are turkeys called Turkey? Yeah. And it's got nothing to do. It's got nothing to do with Takiya. Because Takiya that I don't know is not named after turkeys. I can neither confirm nor deny that. No, I think the bird would be named after the country surely. There's something about a Turkey. But they have a bit that looks like a Tork. Isn't Turkey named after? Is it Takiya? And then after Attaturk? The general. Yeah. It was named after. I'm pretty sure. I mean, I might be wrong. I just always assumed that. Anyway, in Turkey, the animal is called India. That's my fact. No, good fact. Good fact. Good fact. Good fact. I'm going historical. Great. Did you know that clear petra lived closer to the moon landing than to the building of the great pyramid? I actually did know that. I did too much.

I was going to say anything. I was going to say anything. You guys have too much time on your hands. She actually lived closer to the invention of the iPhone than she did to the... Okay, you want to... Yeah, that's... Sorry, that's splitting like 50 years. You're going to be a little bit millennia. Okay, Ries Matthewsson. Who has got... Who is the winner of Get Fact Thursday, fourth Thursday, the 10th of September? Oh, hands down the night. That rule. Yes. Yes. An Orgall victory. Thank you very much. I've noticed so he hasn't had the clapping sound effect. I can see that being an issue going forward. But anyway, I... Can I throw up my favorite fact? Please. Please. Stevie Wonder, do you know what Stevie's short for? You would have to assume Steven. Steveland. That's good. Yeah. Oh, there's the buddy. What? Give it to the guest, why don't you Zoe? Yes, I agree. Ries Matthewsson, thank you so much for coming in. Thanks for having me. Look forward to watching you on Taskmaster Season 7,

which is coming up this week on TVNZ Plus and TVNZ 2. I can't wait for people to say it. It's so good. I can't wait to have got... I can't... I can't imagine what happened. What? You were there. What do you mean, imagine what happened? No, he's what. I've forgotten that. Yeah. Board purpose. What Jerry and Minneye waiting for you every morning? Switch on auto download for the Hodecky
