The Hauraki Breakfast Podcast — 🎙 Feedback Friday - The Daily Wounder. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
Jerry and Maniah join the compilate the Hodaki Breakfast discussion group on Facebook for more It's been back Friday on the Daily Wander the daily Wander is what we're running with we're taking the daily Wander for a run. Yeah, and we are asking for some open honest raw feedback no sacred cows or do you want them sacred cows? I want sacred cows you want if you say good cows. I think some cows do you think should be sacred? I do I think there's always the idea that there's no such thing as a sacred cow. I think that's I think that's dishonest. I think there's always going to be some sacred cows. Will you address the fact that maybe they're a sacred cow and you don't want to go there? Yes, you know, it's only to say look there are some sacred cows but so is this a safe space for us if someone rings a sends in a voicemail and wants to address something that we think is a sacred cow we're within our rights to not address it. We just go what we do is we just go move. Okay, and at that point you know that that's a sacred cow
okay, but you don't want to discuss it you want to yeah okay yeah okay what do we got what do we got from well so we got on to the conclave yesterday and we said this is a feature that we've been using to great effect on the agenda podcast but if you listen on iHeart Radio there is a microphone button on the home player there even if you don't you can just go on to iHeart Radio and record a voicemail. If you press the microphone button you'll get 30 seconds to record a voicemail you can have a few different cracks at it but just know that it cuts off at 30 seconds because often people will get cut off but we thought this is a great way for people to maybe we've tried calling people in the podcast and things like that it can often be quite tricky but this is a way for people to get involved in the podcast. Yeah, if you look and can we also that's I think the best way to put the feedback through but I mean we I can say that we record the podcast about 930 most days so if you am so if you do want to be like live on the podcast you can always give us a
call on our 800 Hodecky and we may or may not answer the phone I'm pretty sure if it's like 930 and the phone rings we'll answer it in the pod. So if you want to be part of a lot of that live then you know and that's just a little little inside inside information. Yeah because the other thing is we've got the conclave A. We've got a conclave A. We've got a conclave A. We've got the other thing you can share on the conclave A. That's the Facebook group. You can yeah yeah. All right and I believe we've got four pieces of raw open honest unfelted feedback to get through. Trent. Trent. I'm enjoying the nice drive down from Coytire all the way back to the shore once a beautiful day the sun is shining the bit of nice bunch of youngs and you guys are making a longer drive that much better. Ah look that's just a nice bloody message from Trent. I was waiting for that to go. I do what were you thinking? Oh so tense. I was so tense. I thought he was about
to flip it around and go and this drive sucks more because you guys are. Trent isn't it? Trent. You've no idea how much I needed that. Oh Trent what a gem of a person. What does it say about us? who we are as people, our listeners that we were both braced for that? I was so tense. I was like where is this going to go? There could be a second party. He might come back in off the top turnbuckle after this I don't know. Well there's the other part of it like we don't know what the other three bits of feedback. If any of them are from Trent again lovely though. Hey look if this is how this is going to continue feedback Friday's a real win it. All right, who else we got here? Zai. Jordan. Jordan. Thank you very much for the hoodie. Can't wait for that. Oh hey another I don't know what hoodie you got but I think it's big show related. Sure we'll take credit for that. Yep, no sweat. That'd be happy for you. You want to take credit for that?
No, no, no. Let's do this one. Oh hey, beck and Cameron happy 50 second third bit 50 second I think it is. Thank you. Bye bye. Oh Cameron, there's this plentish smoke that's passed through that body. Can we run that back? Can we hear that again? I can just hear that I can hear the lungs. Oh hey beck and Cameron happy 50 second third bit 50 second I think it is. Thank you. Bye bye. Oh I like it guys. He's one of beck's old mates. Aarzy. Yeah. It's her 50. It was her 50th. It wasn't her 50 second, don't age it. 35th. Yeah. 30. Oh not that old. What are the effects of the areas? Doesn't look a day over bloody 40. No she doesn't. You're on what? Yeah. I got one. Sorry. You spits. You know when does
brats and back. Lavias. If you're anyway you seem busy. I love you in Lvivia. Err. Thanks for your match. Oh well we'll have kids that very short on feedback for right now. There's a whole lot of positive feedback. We're talking before about where our listeners are by country. Yeah. I think he's got access to that. I'm assuming that the highest percentage of our listeners, his just a bit of guesswork from me. We're going to work backwards to recon. Should we go through the countries and try and work away that? Yeah I reckon. I say a New Zealand. Yeah. Number one. Yeah. Number two, I'm going to say Australia. Yeah. I'd agree with that. Yeah. Australia. Number three. I think he's I think the Kiwi diaspora in the United Kingdom gave me the UK. No I think same thing. Yep. Can you see my screens here? No I can't. I can't see. So he can't read this. I can't.
I can't. I can't. He can't read that. Okay so um. Yeah. England. Yeah. And then. Yes. And then I think my heart of hearts if I'm being 100% honest with myself and you guys the United States of America. I would have thought the US. I'm just going by kind of country size and the most obvious and kept in our these countries. US. It is. Yeah. Hey. Okay. We're four from three. Well we're four from four. Yeah. Okay. Next. Now this is where it gets a bit interesting. Give me the Republic of South Africa. Really? Yeah. Give me the people's Republic of South Africa. I'm not going to take that. I'm going to go. I'm going to go. Shout out to our listeners in the States though. Lee. Lee Ibanez. You been there? I know she's a big fan. Yeah. She makes the guitars doesn't she? Yeah. I think she sent in a video of some American birds that and wanted us to decide whether
they're on the fuck of others or the nose card. Really? Yeah. Okay. I'm going to go. This is where it gets interesting about here. Um. Dun dun dun dun dun dun. I'm going to go. Do you know why I say South Africa? Because we hit the elbow there. So hard. So I wonder. I think we've got back of all. They've got similar sense of humour to us. The South Africa. What? South Africans? South Africans do. No. Excuse me. I think that's a that's an insult to us. To us? Yeah. Tell me the famous South African comedians out there. There's a look outside. Apart from Erskine. Erskine. I don't need to come up with another one because that was such a good example. There's none. There's a great slide. South African musicians. It's like German comedians. Well, the fact that they speak in German probably doesn't help. You know, that's why Mr. Bean and Sussex is well heavily ended up here. I'm going to go Spain. Oh, I spy on. That's crazy.
Do you think one of you says create? Well, now I don't. Well, I think I'm correct. And obviously I think I'm correct. Now you're both wrong. Do you want to guess again? Argentina. Nope. Oh, team come on. Can you give us a can you give us a part of the globe? I killed but then we make a different one. Okay. Fiji. So I'll hold on New Zealand. Australia. England. The United States of America. Okay. Here's my question for you, which will just... Is it a, is the country a predominantly English-speaking country or not? Yes. It is. Yeah. Canada. Yes. Thank you, George. Of course it's obvious. I was going to say that buzzer now. That's too obvious. Okay. Now we're getting into the weird bits of places. So who knows after that? I think top five is quite what's what's going on. I'll keep going. Do the top 10, I think. Okay. So we need another predominantly English-speaking. I mean, does... How does the website
list countries like, for example, is it England or the UK? The UK. It's the UK. So that's Scotland as well, isn't it? So it doesn't include Ireland. It doesn't. Okay. So it's Ireland. You're wrong, but it is in the top team. Okay. Does our website recognize Palestine as a country? I can't... Zoe, I must press you on this. It doesn't? No. Okay. All I can see here is the top team. Okay. And it's not there. Okay. Does it recognize the Uralweta as an independent sovereign nation? Do you want to hint here? Yes, please. Do you have a hint? Well, give us... I think they're all at the top. It's in New York. It's the next one. But not English-speaking. Not English-speaking. Yes, I think this is his Spain. Spain. No. France. Germany. Yeah. Germany.
I'm brought to the first non-predominantly English-speaking country on here is Alemania. It is Germany. Do you think that's because you've done some things recently in German? Guten Tag to everyone in Germany. I think it's because I'm Nazi Bavaria. Yeah, you do speak. For a person who has only been to Germany once? Yeah, once. You do speak remarkably good. Yeah. Which fluent. So good, man. Yeah. Strudel, for example. That's just one of the examples. But it's good. Because it's not like Leberstrom. Kind of garden. Okay. So these are some of the... Ah, that's good. Okay. So we're out of Europe. Yet are we staying in Europe? You're out of Europe now. Okay. United Arab Emirates. Oh! Oh! Show me the... Geez, that's not a bad one. I don't know. Sorry, can you get some extra... Yeah, expats. No, no, at least one person who should be listening. Let's try. Is it an Asia? It is. Asia. Hong Kong. China.
Japan. Japan. Japan. Oh, wow. Because they're getting quite a few expats in Japan. Big can eat you out to them. Although interestingly, Japan, like you can't be... You can never be a Japanese person. No, no, no. How's that? No, J-Line's brother, the original J-Line, lived over there for decades. Yeah. Married a Japanese woman? No, man. Still a... What do I call him? A gojjian. You can't be... You cannot be a Japanese citizen. Like, no. Big Arigato to our Japanese listeners. Zemen, thank you. Arigato gzai maa. Gzai maa. We're leaving... What has you are? Manaya. Where what? We're leaving Asia. We're leaving Asia and we're heading into South America. No. We are heading into the Middle East. No. We're heading into Africa. No. Back into Europe we go. Not anymore. We're here. What? Oh, she gave it away. No, she gave it away. Yeah. Okay, there we go. Shout out to our Irish friends.
Want J-Line, waiting for you every morning? Switch on auto download for the Hodecki Breakfast Podcast. Okay, and then now we are into Central America. No. Okay, so, so Belize off the market. Back to the Middle East we go now. No. Do we need to... So the point of this exercise for me, I want to see where we're lacking and see if we can make up some numbers internationally. Can we... Radio Port here. Ah, Singapore. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I'm like in the Singapore. I'm like in the guessing. Yeah. Singapore. How many listeners do we have in Singapore? Ah, 77. That's way more than I. Wow. Shout out to the Singapore crew. Interesting place, say, Singapore. You've been to Singapore? I have not been to Singapore. Oh, I might have been through the airport, but I don't know. Radio Port, as I said. Like probably the best airport in the world. Oh, it's a lit man. Because I haven't been there. Because the junta who runs Singapore, they just go, yep, we're going to spend heaps on this.
Oh, they just do whatever they want, basically. Yeah. But they also do genuinely, because it's not a dictatorship, even though it is a military dictatorship of sorts. They move jobs and then they get new people and they pay their people who are the politicians who are elected. Yeah. Heaps. So it's a slightly wealthy, obscenely wealthy. Can't say what you are massively. Because it's hardly any people there. And it's a port. It's the main thoroughfare for just about everything. But it didn't use to be rich. It didn't use to be anything. It didn't use to be anything. They've turned it into a rich place. But they also genuinely have the people who run the junta generally have the Singapore's best interest. Well, they think they've got Singapore's best interest at heart and they don't spend any money debating stuff. They just like this. Well, we don't want to do it. And we just do it. And then nobody gets in the way. They don't have to apply for anything. They don't throw anything out to the community to work out what the community think about it. How freeing with that being is a community. I'm going to be honest, being part of a democracy sometimes stresses me out. I don't have an opinion on half this shit.
I don't know. It may be... I'm hopeful this is. For the longest time in the world, well, what if you don't like the junta? Well, I'll discuss somewhere else. But... I'm going to kill us to fucking run a junta. Maybe we should run it. Do we need to run a junta? If you had... Jump that down, well, fucking... We need to take this on here. If you... If you don't run a junta... If the junta got results, then you probably would get behind the junta. But if the junta were shit, then that would be a bit of a problem. Hard to ask the junta. No, you can't ask the junta. You can't ask the junta. Well, you've got a junta the junta. But in that situation, you just leave. You can go somewhere else. The rear double junta. You don't like that. If you don't like the junta, then the junta got to take note. Like, if people are just leaving it on mass. Yeah. Then clearly, there's something going on wrong. I think you've got to have some kind of thing which means that you can at least express your opinion. Yeah. Whereas you can't express your opinion against the junta at all. No. Have we just done that? Are we about to lose a few listeners in Singapore? Reach out. Reach out. So we love the junta. If you're a Singaporean, listen if, feel free to fire us through a voicemail. Let us know if anything we said was remotely accurate just then.
Do you want to know number 10? Yes. Or do you want to just quickly have a quick guess? You're going back to Europe? Oh, are we going back to Europe? Yeah. Give me the Spanish Netherlands also known as Holland. No. Nine. France. We. Ah! Joe, what's crazy is it's all places we've been on trip. Maybe that stuff works. Oh, you reckon? Well, we went to France. We went to Paris for the football work-up. Yeah. That's where I shared a room with Leslie Matthew Heath. And this is the, it was quite a little beautiful hotel and central Paris. A couple of blocks away from the Actatrioth, which you may know is the Actatrioth. And Heath and I were sharing a room. For the arc of Triumph. Oh, the arc of Triumph. Yeah. You may know it is that. Napoleon. Napoleon won the crime in the war. Yeah, Napoleon won the crime in the war. Yes, yes. Anyway, so he may and Heath were sharing a room.
And we are both snorers. That'll shock no one. But he had like industrial quantities of melatonin. Melatonin? Melatonin. MDMA? MDMA, sure. But no, melatonin. Okay. That's the sleeping one, right? Yep. And so what we would do is each night when we got back into our hotel room, we would, it was a race to the bottom. It was first person to get to sleep, gets to sleep. Now the person will have to listen. It's snored. Yeah, gets snored into a beloved. It's snored. Get snored. And if we timed it perfectly, then we both got to sleep. Now one night, I melatonin myself into oblivion. He does too. We go to sleep together. Perfect. You go to sleep together? Well, actually when we got into our room, it was one, you know, when you book a double bed and it's often two single beds pushed together, it was that we separated them and moved them to the sides of the thing. Because when I get down like that, right. There's famously no room in those French hotels. Oh my God. That's tiny. The elevator can only fit one person in it.
So claustrophobic. I know that. And because people were about three feet tall when their medallist building. People were small and just, people didn't stay in night. They were just for long. No, and, G-Lane and Joe jury, they did not separate the beds. They kept them together and installed a pillow wall. That's what they told us. Sure. Anyhow, anyhow. Sure, sure. Long short of all of that is we're both asleep. Heath wakes up in the middle of the night and needs to go to the toilet. It's just in his undies. He gets up, he walks to where the toilet was. It's not really a hallway, but basically standing in a small space. There are three doors. One to his left, one to his right, one in front of him. One goes to a bathroom. One goes to a toilet. One goes out into the, out of the hallway. Have a guess what's running past. They take the hall. He turns around, he's immediately locked out. The door shuts itself behind. A big heavy door. He starts banging on the door, but I'm melatonin to oblivion. So I don't hear a damn thing. He is now locked out of his room
in a flash, fancy, Parisian hotel in his undies. So he had to go down to the, it's Fashion Week mind you in Paris. He goes down to reception and all the fashion week is coming home from their nightclubs. There was a receptionist. There was a receptionist. He had to wait for them to serve all these other people first before he, and the gentleman in his undies. You have locked yourself out. Oh no. Didn't hop back in the one man escalator elevator where people can see you the whole way. Well, I've had a very similar story. I mean, I've not done that, but I've been confused in a few hotel rooms in my time. And luckily, when I've opened the door, I realized what I've done. But I, of course, was chatting to a person we all know who did the same thing, but when they locked themselves up, they desperately needed to go to the toilet. That's why they were going to the toilet. And they couldn't get off their floor. And they couldn't get in the elevator because the lift wouldn't work without a code, without without the pass.
And they couldn't get back in their room. And they were trapped in the, so they had to go ways in the pot plant. But I mean, what else you're doing that situation? You at least you went ways in the pot plant. Yeah, I suppose. So that's France. So that's the top 10, is it? Yeah, there's quite a few countries where we have one single, isn't it? Okay, let's go through them. What's the weirdest one? Shearing new wells and manias to it. Find them on Instagram at Hodaki Breakfast. What Jerry and Maniah waiting for you every morning? Switch on auto download for the Hodaki Breakfast podcast. Do you want me to read all the countries? Yes, please. These are the growth opportunities. This is where we're looking. Zambia. Okay, we need to be doing more work in Zambia. If I gave you a map with no letters on it, could you point to Zambia? Zambia. Central Africa. I'm picking East Coast just above sort of Zimbabwe. Yeah, somewhere around. I don't know. I don't know. Numeria. Uruguay.
Uruguay. Uruguay. Uruguay. I don't know. Uruguay. Uruguay. Uruguay. Uruguay. Uganda. Uruguay? We've got one person listening in Uganda. Yep. Must be a bot. I would love to hear from any of these people. If you are that single listener from... Maybe they just have a VPN. That's the other option, right? Why would you see a VPN to Uganda? I don't know. I was just saying could be an option. No, there's a good option. If you are the Ugandan, if you are the Zambian, if you are the... What was that one? I put it in your... Camal, the Camal the giant was from Uganda, wasn't he? There's a wrestler. WWE wrestler back in the 80s. Camal. I've got Tanzania on here. Slovenia. Slovakia. Sierra Leone. Senegal. Romania. But the drink is... That'll be... That'll be... Huge drinkers. That'll be... I wonder if that's a man. Remember a man called in the...
The Romanian? Oh, yes. Or the he's in Taranga. Teo. Teo. Teo. Teo. Teo. Um... But again, his phone could be... It could be, still sit to Romania. Maybe it was Jiga. Excuse me? Do you know Jiga? No. Jiga from season... Jiga what? Season 13... Alon? Jiga? Oh, no, I've more Slovenia. I don't know Jiga from Slovenia. Great idea, I wonder. Peru. Are there any Lee? Nepal. Nepal. Hungary. Guatemala. El Salvador. El Salvador. El Salvador. El Salvador. Egypt. Chica. Congo. Brunai. We got one person listening in Congo. Apparently so. Shout out to you. Brunai. Yep. I can even give you more specific... Oh god, I can't... I don't know how to say that. Kinshasa. In Congo, the listener is in... Wessel. Oh. Oh, you're wessel.
That doesn't surprise me. We're going to listen to a whistle. Aja Bajan. Aja Bajan, yeah. Minia. Yep. We're going to the Toos now. Okay. Two listeners in Syria. Syria. Yep. I need one of you as the tune out. Toon guitar. Toon Paraguay. Yep. Toon Mali. Toon Mali. Chris like stop. Chris like stop. Toon Jamaica. Oh, here's a fun game. How many of the stands can you name? How many stands are there? I think these files. We have these. Oh, we have these. These are the biggest stands. Tak, Tak, Tak, Minan stand. Turkmen stand is biggest stand. Pakistan, Afghanistan. The same as them. Kyrgyzstan. Turkmenistan is one that people always forget. Tajikstan. Tajikstan. Yeah. Toon Jamaica. Toon Cambodia. Toon Bolivia. Toon Algeria. Going to the threes. Papua New Guinea. Lebanon. Okay, hold on. P&G, I think we really need to tap into.
P&G. P&G, well, they're bringing another team into the URL. You know, I just think. I think there's an opportunity there. Three in Jordan. Three in the Kuttivwa. And then we got four in the Ukraine. Four in Monaco. Four in Kenya. Four in Ethiopia. Four in Belgium. Five in Turkey. Five in Iceland. And five in Croatia. If one of the people from Turkey could confirm my fact from yesterday that Turkey, the meat in Turkey, the country, is called India. I didn't name Turkey. Or Turkey. Thank you. Six in Vanuatu. Six in Poland. Six in Morocco. Six in Kazakhstan. Six in China. Seven. Philippines, Israel, Ecuador, Denmark, Cook Islands. Six in China is an opportunity. I mean, famously over a billion people in China. We only got six of them. If we can, if we can, if we can, have a wrong with us. I know. I know someone who loves in China. Yanshi better be listening to the, I think Yanshi wouldn't, she wouldn't. But, you know, maybe she could,
Yanshi, she used to work on, she used to work on my partner's dear phone. Right. Do you want to keep going? We got that. No, I think that's a lot of cash. No, it's a lot of cash. It's a lot of cash. It's a lot of cash. Yeah. Because we're into the thousands now. I'll also give you by city for New Zealand, by example. I think what we need to do is I think there's definitely some opportunities through, I see, I think there's an opportunity. China and India. Yep. I think there's trade opportunities for us in the Middle East as well. We haven't heard from India. There might be heaps, probably. India 15. Yeah, that's it. So, India and China, I think, the two big growth opportunities we've identified here. If you are a listener to this podcast from one of those countries that only has one or two, I would love to hear from you. We'd love some feedback. Is there something we could do to, we could do to service your Nicola words a bit better? Yeah. Right. Okay. All right. Yeah, right. Have a good weekend. Have a good trip, Jerry. Thanks very much. I'll be thinking of you.
