I want to get to it real quick because this is important information that we are covering here. So what we witnessed at the Republican midterm convention, I believe, is some of the most insane stuff that you have ever seen. I mean, it is a clown show. It's one of the biggest clown shows in American history, I believe. And I know that sounds a little bit dramatic and it may sound a little bit hyperbolic. But I genuinely don't know how to describe what the hell we are forced to watch, that we have been watching on our television at night. This is some crazy shit because before we even get to the speeches, before we get to those empty seats that are there, the insults and all the madness, Republicans actually played this video. Watch it. And on June 14th, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said,

4:14I need a caretaker. So God gave us Trump. God said, I need somebody willing to get up before dawn. Fix this country, work all day, fight the Marxists, eat supper, then go to the Oval Office and stay past midnight at a meeting of the heads of state. So God made Trump. I need somebody who can. So God made Trump. God made Trump as a caretaker and all of all of the things. I'm sorry, what the hell was that? What was that? Donald Trump is a caretaker. The mega cult has always said, oh, well, God takes people, people who are imperfect people and whatever. This is beyond that. I'm sorry. That's crazy. I want to contextualize what we just saw there. And apparently God looked down from heaven and then he saw our country, our great country. And he said, you know what this place needs? He said the Donald Trump. So apparently according to those mega lunatics, Trump was dispatched by the Almighty, sigh, by God, but somehow that wasn't even the most surreal part of it.

5:17Because then Donald Trump got thousands of people in the crowd to raise their right hands and repeat a pledge to him. Okay? Take a look. Oh, please raise your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breathe. Okay, come on, y'all. This is crazy. Now they may have thought it was funny, but what the hell was that? I mean, I don't even need to write a joke here because that's the actual joke. You have an entire crowd of people raising their hands, pledging themselves to you seems a little bit third-right to me, bordering on it. If not, I'm getting really, really close.

6:21I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That's a cult. Those people are in a cult. They are cult followers and he is a cult leader. Okay? So there is no other explanation for that. Donald Trump then vowed, vowed when people always say he's cheating and they deny it, right? Well, finally, he doesn't care anymore. He then vows to cheat like hell in the midterm. Those are his words, they're not mine. If you don't believe me, here it is. And I will go out with my family, my friends. I'll do it anyway. I don't care if I'm registered or not. I'm going to try and cheat like hell like they do. There's never been bigger cheaters and I'll care. I am going to go out and I'm going to get my friends, my family. And we are going to vote on November 3rd or we are going to vote before that. Right? Right? Okay, ready? Ready?

7:27I mean, wow. Seriously. What the actual fuck was that? I mean, forget the Democrats, forget Republicans, forget all of that person. So all of that per second, the president of United States admitted he says, I'm going to try and cheat like hell in the upcoming elections and they cheered him. And so when journalists, when we say on this program, Donald Trump is cheating. He's trying to steal the election. He's trying to buy votes. And now I just hyperbolic Donald Trump is not doing that. Careful about what you say because it's not actual, you know, is it illegal? We don't know. We can't really say that. It doesn't matter. That's why I say that the mainstream media sits there and they pretend this shit, they pretend this shit is normal. Right? Let's have a normal conversation about it. This is not a normal conversation. It's not. He says he's going to cheat like hell in the upcoming elections.

8:28Are we just supposed to just move on from that? I'm tired of pretending that this is normal and that because Donald Trump does so much crazy shit that we have become numb to it. It is not normal. If we showed you footage from some foreign country where thousands of people are raising their hands and they're making a pledge to their dear leader, we would all criticize them. But yet we have to sit here and we have to pretend here in the US that, oh, you know, this is not a big deal or let's do some false equivalents. Let's figure, can this be normal? What do you think of what the president says? What do you think? It's not normal. And that's why I said, I was at a summit the other day and I said, Donald Trump is a detriment to the United States. He's a tyrant and to pretend otherwise is a journalistic, is a dereliction of our journalistic duty.

9:29If any other leader did that, we would all criticize them. But when it happens here, we're supposed to say, hey, well, that's just Trump being Trump. That's bullshit. We've got to stop that. He's the president of the United States. People pledge allegiance to the country, standing usually in front of a flag. You swear an oath to the Constitution. The country does not swear an oath to you. And then, as if the visual wasn't already fucking weird enough, you follow it by saying, oh, you're going to cheat like hell. No, we say this a lot, but I really want you to do this. I want you to imagine Barack Obama doing that. I want you to imagine Bill Clinton doing that or Joe Biden. Republicans would be setting themselves on fire on Fox News right now. You would not be watching all day coverage of 9-11 on Fox News or somehow they'd managed to intertwine it.

10:32And you would be watching this all day of them belly aching and groaning and growing on and on about, oh my gosh, can you believe with the crazy love that the president Barack Obama is on American Muslim? There would be congressional hearings. So spare me all the partisan bullshit about this. And I'm going to spare me news media about, oh, you know, we've got to have this false balance. And I hate that shit because these are the moments when we have to stop laughing at this clown in the clown show. And we have to recognize that this part isn't funny. A president demanding personal pledges from a crowd, loyalty, field, pledges, talking about cheating, should make every single one of us, every single American concerned. And not just concerned, we should all be outraged. I'm surprised that people aren't taking it to the streets. I don't care who you voted for. I don't care what hat you wear. Well, I do care what you voted for, but I'm saying that in a certain way. I don't care what hat you wear in this instance. This is America. The president works for you.

11:32You don't pledge yourself to him. You're not pledging yourself to the president of the United States. Where the hell do we get this? And then I want you to listen to JD Vance, what he had to say and tell me if this doesn't outrage you. And the criminals given free reign over our great country. And we were tired of being called racist for noticing that our country was becoming dirtier and poorer and less safe and less prosperous. Can you believe that? Poor, safe, less prosperous, you know what they say, dirty. And this is what makes us even more surreal, okay? Because JD Vance's own wife is a daughter of Indian immigrants. Your children are the grandchildren of immigrants.

12:38And so here you are complaining that America was becoming dirtier while making accusations of racism. Your wife, your children, your offspring are the grandchildren of immigrants. 14:41For a better life, aren't some fucking stain that needs to be scrubbed out of America. And guess what? I don't like using that language, but in this instance, it does count. It does matter. It matters because it gets your attention to show how fucking racist you are. And what a hypocrite you are. You lay down and you have kids and you took a vow to a woman who is the daughter of immigrants and then you sell her out and your children out by calling immigrants dirty, dirt, un-American, whatever it is, that you said. Are you insinuated? And do you think people should understand that? Your own family is living proof that the immigrant story is the American story. That being an interracial marriage is the American story. So don't stand there and benefit from the story in your own home and then use language that leaves millions of other families wondering whether they are the, quote, dirt that you are talking about.

15:49That is one of the most outrageous things. I know we have, we put our eye, we have eye for JD Vance, I mean, for Donald Trump. But JD Vance is worse. I believe that Donald Trump. Yeah, he talks loud and he says nothing. He talks fast and he says nothing. But that is dangerous language. What is the dirt he's talking about? Are they, his wife, his children? Like what? And then after the event Donald Trump doubled down on his promise to give every American $5,000. I remember buying votes, $5,000, a Trump dividend, that's what he calls it, payment. If Republicans keep control of Congress, even though he cannot simply send out those checks on his own, watch. I would have had the name for the $5,000 transaction. Why is that all these? Had a growth, had a tremendous growth.

16:50We have growth like no country has ever seen before. We have millions of dollars coming in and that will end up being not a very big problem at all. And I think our people deserve it. What about the day? No, forget there is investing. It will be reinvesting in our country. Are you worried about the fact that it all impacted deficit? No, I'm not. What about you? We have tremendous growth. Okay. Number one, he's lying about that. There is no, we don't have tremendous growth. That's all bullshit. And those people sit there and the thing and they just gap it up. Oh, we have tremendous growth more than any other country. That is a lie. That is a provable lie. You can prove that lie. Congress, first of all, would have to approve the money and this is not the first time that he has floated a big payout that never arrived. There was the $5,000 doge dividend. Remember that? Then there was a $2,000 tariff dividend. Neither of them happened.

17:51And when asked about it, Trump lost his mind with a reporter. She said, hey, Mr. Trump, I would about whatever. You know what he said? He talked shit about her. He embarrassed her and he called her out in front of everyone. Do we have the start, the sound bite of Rachel Scott? Yes. Let's roll it. Mr. President, all the checks. You have to hold $3,000 in debt. I can have a call. People working right here in the center. People turn out to vote. I think what you're going to do, I didn't do it for turning out to vote. I think the reward for people having to put up with five years and four years of horrible situation caused by Biden. I mean, they had to put up with the four years and they carried on at least the effort in addition to here. With horrible, it's just a horrible thing that Biden did to our country. And that's not only just from an economic standpoint.

18:53You look at the border, you look at the crime, and now we've got it under control. But what a period of time. It's almost a reward for the people having to put up with Biden's policies. So is that you? You have the Harvard Checkster and Chair Refund Chats. And that's in there, Mr. President. Mr. O'Connor, you're working here the worst. Do you know where you're going? It was that guy next to him. It was that, I see a Brit. Nothing against British people. I'm going to have a bunch of Brit. Why is he jumping in on Rachel's question? Why do they do that? He has to get, he can get that question in. He can get that question in at any time. Let's talk about what he's been talking about now on Iran. Shut up. Let the woman talk. It drives me crazy when they don't support each other like that. It's obvious that he's trying to obfuscate and he's trying to deflect from Rachel Scott's question. Please, Mr. Reporter, give her a second. Support your fellow journalist. It drives me crazy that they do that.

Donald Trump did not beat last night in the night before. He did not beat a normal Trump, a normal box primetime show lineup. The ratings were not better. As a matter of fact, they were worse. But guess what rating. Guess who's ratings beat him? El Said's rating. Ratings on Fox News. When he appeared on Fox News, a beat him. Okay, so we'll get back to the convention and we're also going to talk about 9-11 because 9-11 is today. Okay, so make sure you hit the like and the thumbs up. It does affect the algorithm. It's really important. It really is important. If you are part of the elimination of lemon heads, it's important that you do that. Okay, someone says lock him up. We can lock him up. I don't know if we should lock him up for the hair because that is a definite, definite fashion no-no. And it's fashion. We need to call the fashion police for him.

23:01Okay. So let's talk about Harry and Meghan because this has been going crazy in the UK, but it's also it's also been talked about here. As you know, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are back in Britain. And already the great British tabloids losing their damn minds over Meghan Markle. And I'm sorry, but the endless headlines that I've been reading focusing on what her returns supposedly means for the monarchy. A little bit excessive. But I think the time has come for us to finally talk about the black woman in the room because at some point Britain has to, I believe they have to confront a deeply uncomfortable question. And I don't think that they've done a good enough job of reckoning with this. I think there's a real blind spot. Because I want to talk about the question is, is would Meghan Markle be hated this much if she were white? I said it, would Meghan Markle be hated this much if she were white? And before you, you know, the clips, before you like, you know, I get you guys and somebody in the clips and somebody in the thing and, you know, saying, oh, no, no, no, no.

24:08And you start twisting my words in the press. No, I don't believe that disliking Meghan Markle means automatically that you are racist. That doesn't mean that you are racist automatically because you don't like her. Let me make my point. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize a duke and duchess. Okay? In fact, they have given us quite a few themselves. And I don't think that there's, I have hate for Meghan Markle. I'm on their side. I give people fuel to the fire to criticize me. It's a human thing. They have given a few themselves. Okay? Reasons for people to criticize them. I don't think they've given any reason for people to hate them. You've got the Oprah interview, right? People were like, oh my gosh, what is this? You've got the Netflix series. You've got Harry's book, Spare, right? You've got the interviews. You've got the family revelations. You've got Harry has even gone as far as telling us things about his penis. That even his doctor probably didn't ask for or didn't even want to know. They've overshared.

25:09They have monetized their royal story. They have probably had some bad advisors advising them. But here is what I don't buy. I don't buy the idea that the level of rage directed at Meghan has always been purely about her behavior. I mean, come on. This was a biracial, divorced American actress walking into perhaps the most famous white, aristocracy, or aristocratic institution on planet Earth. And I can't buy it that she doesn't know that it was going to be this much racist. I mean, it's about bloodlines. I mean, how much for braces? Can you get your bloodline thing? And they're all white. And we're supposed to pretend though that race never mattered to the royal family, not once, that end to the brits, that every headline was completely free of racism or as they say, colorblind, not my favorite term, because you actually people see color, right? That every stereotype of Meghan as somehow difficult, demanding, calculating, or dangerous existed in some magical racial vacuum,

26:16I think that that is obviously bullshit. Donald Trump was recently asked about Harry and Meghan returning to Britain. And he said, if he were King Charles, that he wouldn't have taken them back, calling Meghan a horrible influence on Harry. Now we know Donald Trump is racist. He's called me a sleaze bag. He's called me the dumbest man on television. He does that to a lot to black people. He criticizes white people, but he saves the worst of his eye for black people, like Meghan or me, or LeBron James, or Kamala Harris, and on and on. What makes this even more uncomfortable is that the royal family has demonstrated in almost supernatural ability to rehabilitate people. So, Kamala, let's think about this. Kamala has been given a second chance. Think about it. This was the woman, forever associated in the public imagination, we thought forever associated in the public imagination with the collapse of Charles and Diana's marriage.

27:16Remember, she was roundly hated. I know she was hated here in the United States, and I believe in Britain as well. And not just any woman, Princess Diana, Harry's mother, one of the most beloved women in modern history. There was a time when the idea of Kamala being crowned queen would have sounded like a fucking Saturday night live sketch. And you know, this is the one thing that I don't get. That Charles can treat them, and we're going to talk about this and say, oh, they're not going to have any real duties or a lot, but you know, the woman that is, that broke up his marriage. That he is in love with, he expects his kids to accept her with open arms. I don't understand that. I don't understand how they can be resentful. I can see, but it's odd to me because I guess what's his now need to know the, his brother.

28:16I guess they have to. I guess he has to deal with it because he wants to be king. He has to overlook that. But if someone broke up my parents marriage, and then my mom was killed by the paparazzi and they had done all that, I don't know if I, I might feel a certain way about my dad. And I might say, if this whole thing. And yet Brett, no, eventually said about Camilla, okay, people change. Life moves on. Today, she is queen Camilla, not just queen consort. That's what she was before. I think she's, she's a full queen now. And there are talks of even naming an airport after her. So apparently redemption exists, but just not for Harry and Megan, the private citizens. But it exists for the white woman who was a mistress and broke up a marriage and is now queen. But Megan and Harry have somehow done something that is so horrible, that is unforgivable, that the press and the British people cannot forgive her, especially or Harry.

29:16And then there's Prince Andrew. Now listen, I'm not equating Prince Andrew with, with Harry and Megan, quite the opposite. Andrew has faced sex assault allegations because of his close relationship with pedophile, Jerry Epstein. He has denied any wrongdoing, but somehow after everything that has happened within this family, Megan still manages to generate this extraordinary level of fury. She packed up and left Britain. And then she was called on grateful. She goes back. Now she's an attention seeker. So maybe it's time that we asked that uncomfortable question. Does Britain have a problem with Megan, or is the problem with her race? Because they're not giving her the same grace as they give other horrible people or people who have done horrible things, including cheating and breaking up marriages. I'm joined now by I'm on Aiton, who is in London. She's a London based anti-racism activist. Professor Kinde Andrews is here leading academic and UK's first professor of black studies and Meredith Constant, who is a US based royal commentator.

30:21Hello to all of you. A few of you are recognized from Megan and Harry's marriage. And I said, oh, she can change the royal family. And this will be something she may have something. You know, impact on the British, on the Brits. Wait, wait, Timon, why are you laughing out loud like that in my face? Sorry. I was trying to keep it in, but you said it right at the point. I think we all thought it may be Kinde didn't. I did. I did. Yeah, see that was the caveat. Kinde, Meredith, I think your team, me, which we thought it was going to be like a new vibe. I did. I have to say. Yeah. Thank you, Don. That's why I laughed. I'm so sorry. You said something. Okay. So let me start with you, Kinde. You said, no, you thought if you saw around the corner, you're like, this shit is never going to happen. Yeah. I've been telling I told you so for years now. I mean, this was the most, honestly, the most obvious thing ever. As you said, the royal family, the point of the royal family is whiteness. It is why in the 21st century, having a mixed race woman marry into the family is even news, right?

31:23Because whiteness is the point. It's about bloodlines. It's about who represents the country. The idea this is ever going to end well. That was always the fantasy. So I always say it then. I say it now. It's definitely a big. I told you so. I don't know. Maybe we should have known. Sorry. Maybe we should have known when a reporter wrote the first week that it broke that Harry Megan were dating that her exotic DNA was entering the monarchy. Maybe there was going to be a little problem here. Maybe we knew a distance. Maybe we weren't color blind. Oh, marriage. That's a really valid point because I, one of the main arguments nowadays is that everyone was very much for the marriage at the beginning in 2018. And then subsequently turns kind of turned into chaos or went awry when the kind of allegations started to kick in whether that was from staff members racism and more. So I'm very grateful that you said that that wasn't. The fact that I'm a person of. And forgive me, I'm going to correct all of us here. This is my bed. My.

32:23This is something that gets. Annoying me. Megan is mixed race. Yes, self identifiers as mixed race. Now I appreciate on the brick. And so what we do is we do like to differentiate that we have black people, white people and you have mixed race people. Now you get some mixed race people that will pull themselves black, some that will pull themselves mixed race. Megan has categorically said she is mixed race, whereas in America, I appreciate the one drop wall. So don't I do. That's where I was going. Look, if you're everybody is watching this in America and we won't say she's black. We know that's proper English. Americans would say she black and that's it. She may not think she's black. But that's part of the criticism though is that you know, she didn't feel she's look she definitely got the black treatment from the British press and from British people. So in our eyes and in the eyes of the Brits, she's black, but in maybe her eyes, she's mixed, but no one's going to look at her and say she's mix it and looking to go who's that black girl? But doesn't that make it even more spectacular, right?

33:24This is someone who isn't she's not black politics. She's not black power. She's not coming in with. Oh, I'm going to be the black face. She just she came in and essentially was like, let me just pass and didn't really do anything and wasn't really controversial. Even then they still couldn't take it like she was the least black woman you could have had in the family and people are still rabidly racist against the we just tells you how deep the whiteness goes. So, a lot of British monarchy not being able to see the forest through the trees. We had a mixed race woman who was really good at royal tours that could have gone to the common well. Countries and represented them and people felt seen in her in a way that they didn't always feel seen and represented in the British royal family and they totally bungled it. And it's because when you're in the British royal family, there is a pecking order and you cannot outshine the future king or the heir apparent and especially not if you marry in to the family. That's a no no.

34:24Yeah, but I think that's the. But that's actually for me strangely enough, I'm actually happier that it's happened like this than the alternative is you know she actually came in and said, yes, I want to be the face of the commonwealth. You can imagine a guy and ran doing these tours and it's all great and kind of trying to PR be that kind of PR the royal family is not that racist. That would have been a terrible dystopian nonsense. At least now we actually can see that this is what the racism of Britain looks like and Megan has become a kind of symbol of just how racist Britain is. I think, I personally, this is the best outcome. So can that let me ask you this, would would Britain hate Megan Markle so much if she were white? No, that'd be fine if Megan Markle was white, we wouldn't even be having these conversations. They just have gone with it. You have they probably have the you know the families and are they be carrying in a bit of that stuff, but the level of rage against her and again before the Oprah stuff. I don't know what she actually was supposed to have done. It's just all these crazy stories coming out. I guess if you was white, we wouldn't even be talking about the two.

35:24I asked this question of a royal road a reporter that I interviewed. I asked what exactly what did Megan do? You've been on the beat. What did she do? What was her crime? There is no answer and the underlying answer is that she had a work ethic. She worked differently than the rest of the family who was ready to come in and work in a way and ingratiate herself in the family in a way that Kate didn't. It's just a different style of work. On top of that, she's a black woman from America. So they use her Americanness as a cover for the racism in the reporting. My question is that I was going to ask is what if she were, I was going to ask a kind of, but I'll ask I'm on. What if she were a white American woman, would she have this level of outrage? I'm not expecting that. I think I can't use my name. We're having trouble with your audio. Is that just me and you're, is it her audio?

36:24It's her audio. Yeah. We're having. We have an issue with your audio. Yeah. So we have to fix it. We have to find a better microphone or something for you. Go ahead, Meredith. Yeah. I think that's what I'm going to say about that. I think that's what I'm going to say about that. She would not have this white woman would not have the same problem marrying into the British family. You are always going to have that woman versus woman thing we saw it with Diana and Camilla Diana. And for you were always going to have that with Megan and Kate. But not to the level of vitriol. And it says a lot that people eat it up. There was a guardian survey from a couple of years ago that looked at just 14 print. And so saw it and draft course. I was wondering where could that be the only thing they would say about that. Was a weighed post. Physicalänzo. So the non- CVS is very well found varied versus the ones that they're concerned about. 37:26verylv exa ம residency, less ludicrous. If she was a white American woman, they'd probably treat her better. I guess that's the exoticism that Britain likes, that special relationship. The idea that it is because she's foreign is just simply not true. There's all these stereotypes around the angry black woman. There was one story earlier in the media where it was Megan made Kate Gray. And then it came out, actually it was a complete opposite. Kate made Megan Gray, but the way it got purported was this angry black woman. That stereotype is so much important in how she's being dealt with. Even when she's not even really living up to it, by what the actual living tells us. Even when she's doing good work, the same reporter of that story wrote another story on Megan's big charitable effort with the women of the women of hub community kitchen, which were survivors, immigrant Muslim women survivors of this horrible tragedy, this fire. And the headline was something like Megan's cookbook, mosque, supported or allegedly attended by 19 jihadists.

38:27It's like, let's pack in a word salad of bigotry. And then, but they were making lots of money off of it. I mean, I'm on when you when you saw Megan into the royal family, did you recognize some of the language being used around her? In other words, is British racism sometimes look different than American racism? Yes, so it's inferential communication. Therein lies the distinction between American racism and bigotry versus English. So in other words, overt racism in America, which we typically see as your kind of camp, if you don't mind me saying so. More of a tragedy. Sorry. Thank you. And then I am actually going to say that I actually think English people are a bit more passive, a bit more covert and there I say a bit more sophisticated in the way that they express their racial prejudice. And so it is very much inferential communication. So the headlines, just like the headline you was referring to Merida in terms of mosque, you kind of just add a little word in and then it's about kind

39:29of um planting seed. So it's inferential, not always direct, but always clear when you um analyze it. So yes, that was very much a part of her life here. So I appreciate why she left them. Go ahead. I, here's the thing, there's so much that I want to talk about. But you can, Kihinde said if it was a white American woman that she would actually probably get a whole lot better treatment. They would love her because that's the kind of exoticism that they really admire and revere. Do you agree with that? I agree with that. No, I disagree. I think there's a lot of bias that plays a role in the dynamic in terms of how Harry and Meghan specifically Meghan's. You don't think it would be the sort of grace Kelly effect? Oh my god, she's so gorgeous. Look at her with the scar glowing in the convertible. She's. Oh, yeah. All right. So you're touching on something snobbery, classism, right? So if we have classism that plays a role. So remember, the world family is representative, like Kihinde says, of racism bearing in mind

40:29that every king and queen from Elizabeth the first at William the fourth over a 278 period, advocated for sponsored and profited office slavery. So they, and I'll simply add the fact that Queen Elizabeth actually made sure that she didn't have to adhere to the equality laws in this country, meaning who, whether it's black working within the palace, doesn't, she doesn't have to adhere to any of the discrimination law. So if there is discrimination, you have no respite or no means for justice. So Kihinde is right in terms of the world family representing racism, but they also represent class. And so when you think about the white woman in America, if she has class and she is defiant, refined, sophisticated, well, yes, if you add class into the mix, then I suspect she would have been treated better. But what we have is an American and an actress. I get a lot of bias because I, when I first started, I called myself an actress. And an activist, oh my gosh, the bias and prejudice that I received, it's not refined, apparently, so to call yourself an actress, especially within that class

41:31as well. So are you saying actresses are low class? Yes, in this country, it will not low class overall, but maybe a low class. No, when we're talking about upper middle class and upper class, then yes, the actresses, the Kihinde, are saying you're a sociologist. It's down the pond. Is there anything that Megan could do at this point that would make certain sections of the British folks say, certain sections of Britain say, OK, well, we have moved on. That's fine. OK, one of those five. And so the memorize, five. That is the thing. Talk about the, like the Sweeney Todd has nothing on fleets free. You know, the Barbara's street over there. It's she's profitable. She makes money. Negative stories make money. Until that stops being profitable, that won't go away. But the media environment is so different in the UK. It really is a small island. You have a handful of national papers that can totally overrun a conversation.

42:33Look what happened with Dr. Jason Arde. And he was treated for allegations and white professors who were accused and found guilty of plagiarism and things like that. Not the same coverage. I won't ask. I totally agree with you, Maradette. I think you just summed that up. It's like you were living in my brain. But I will add one other, yeah, most seriously. It's a lie. I will add one other thing, which is subservience. Abservience. I think if you answer very specific questions on, is there anything that she could do? Well, I would argue she was a bit more subservient. And we already know where that chain of thought is going. She's too uppity. She's too uppity. Yeah, I just expect. Yeah, yeah. And we have that in Jamaica, uppity, black person, right? Uptown versus downtown in Jamaica. So we still have these classes, ways of thinking. And I suspect it's being more subservient, more submissive would have helped her cause. But I think because she is a strong, extroverted,

43:37beautiful, intelligent woman, I think all of these things play a role in terms of why the media, including her race, being half black. But of course, I do agree. Many people just simply see her as black, like the one drop rule. If you're half black, you're a black person. I think all of these things play a role. And I will just say that I will play devil's advocate. I think that there is a big issue in terms of the airing of dirty laundry. And the reason why I will bring that up is because I know how in the UK, I don't know, you can tell me it's on in America, but I know in the UK, black people, my culture, we don't like airing dirty laundry. This is why I am very conscious. No. You don't tell family business and you don't air dirty laundry. But I do, yeah, but I do. Yeah, I do. This is why I do that. But here's the thing. Was controversial. This is why the interviewer Anderson Cooper was controversial. This is why Tom Bradby interview was controversial. And this is why O. Prologue was controversial. We should arrange our laundry. But all they were trying to do is speak the truth,

44:37speak truth to pop it up. OK, so listen, and I think I fell victim to that too, because where I'm from in Louisiana, and look, you want to talk about uppity. And as a matter of fact, two things. One is that I don't, I barely know who the royal family is. There are many people in America who don't think the royal family is something that should be covered every single day. We don't reveal the royal family. And we actually, and we actually think they're quite tacky. So the fact that the royal family is looking down on black people or a black actress, we're like, wait a minute, who are you? We think it's kind of tacky. And especially that you live in public housing, and we don't understand why the British people pay for it. The other thing is, yes, it's just not done. What I said about spare, and he talked about fighting with his brother, and I'm like, everybody does that. It's just, it's a little bit gauche, like it's just not done. I'm just, we don't understand why they're doing it. But others will say they need to expose the royal family, and I get it, OK? I am team Megan and Harry. But that sort of thing of just that, you know, I had frostbite on my penis

45:39and all that, it's like, OK, what was he supposed to do? I'm not social norms. Sorry, go ahead. I mean, this is after they've left, right? So, you know, they tried to go for it. But after you've left, they got to make money. So the more salacious it is if you hear about his penis, then I guess that's how you sell. How you sell it. And that's what I was saying. But no, but you won't think I want to go back to you. That's what's my name. But no, but I think this is, but one thing to go back because the question you asked about, you know, what could she do? A big part of actually why this is a story is the, because it was framed as this is the, you know, walk, like it's a walk story, right? She's a black woman in the real family. That's a big reason of the backlash as well. So the only thing she really could do is sell out completely. If she came out going anti-immigration, let's get gay, let's let's like, wouldn't right wing like Fox News? That's it. All black people can all do that. Can do that all the time. Because that is a foreign. If Seever came Candace Owens, if she were Candace Owens, they would love her. We'll think about that. That's a very good point, Candy. Very good point. Sorry, very often. No, think about when she left real family

46:39and culturally what was going on, we had the pandemic. We had a huge reckoning around race with the murder of black men by the police, women also, George Floyd. And so part of, I think what people kind of co-opted with Harry and Meghan was they are leaving the royal family to stick it to the royal family. They're sticking it to this white institution, which, how do you know what to say? How do you know what to say? I don't think they were doing. Harry's a monarchist, you know, they were willing to do a half and half out solution. They did not want to leave. And my take is that the media has done a really good job of making Netflix documentary and spare out to be this, you know, this, this washing of family secrets in the public. It's a, it's a criticism of the media. It's a criticism of the kind of relationship the media has with the British royal family that just creates these terrible things. I mean, Harry was a grieving child when his mother died. A month or two later, Charles brings him to South Africa so that he can get his poll points up

47:42because it's been Dr. Watson to look like a grieving father. Yeah, tacky. Just, it is so, so damn tacky. And I'll just say once I agree. I agree. Meredith, this is like the third time I feel like I'm giving you too much compliments so this will be the last for the, no, I really need this. No, we're ending it there because at this point, I just feel like I'm just falling out here. Okay, and, and don't you already, Jason. It's 11. I know, right? Don was an included because he was already the master of this event. But I'll just say I totally agree tacky in terms of the media. But what I will say is you cannot, bearing in mind, this is the, as Key and D always says, the symbolism of institutionalized racism, the start of racism, bearing on my racism towards black people never existed before the transatlantic slavery. Every slavery that we, every different type of slavery that we've ever come across or know about in terms of ancient times up until now wasn't based off of race. What changed the game was France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, England coming together,

48:44Elizabeth the first coming together and saying, we're going to create a whole entire system that profits off of black people in Africa. And so you cannot dare say you are racist. And so once I agree that the media attacky, I think it starts with, I think that's the byproduct. I think it starts with, how dare you say that unspoken thing, you are not supposed to say this people. Yeah, you can talk about your penis, you can talk about your virginity behind the path, you can talk about your necklace being broken and landing on a dog bowl, yeah. You can't, and you can't talk about, but we might forgive you when you say you killed 25 Taliban in the army. All of these things are bad, but the one thing you cannot do with the institution that started it all, that has the whole of the West surviving right now is to say you are racist. So I would argue the racism allegations was the start of it all. That was their demise. You speak truth to power. Oh, Lord, it doesn't get you. So look, just so, I'm with you. And so just to be clear, you know, that's how I, when I talked about, you know,

49:45the whole penis thing and whatever, just not done. So that's how I felt back then. Now I'm like, you know what, just blow the whole thing up and just expose them. I don't know if I would have talked about frostbite, but I think they're just exposing. I can't, I want you to, I want you to weigh in on this, because I, and this is a controversial take, I think Megan played it wrong. I am of the stick it in their, stick a thumb in their eye. And so if you hate me, then I'm going to give you more of a reason to hate me. I'm going to get it. You maybe I'll get Dior to sponsor some wardrobe for me. I'm going to look every single time I go in public, everyone will write about what I'm wearing. And if someone asks me something about someone, I ain't just not even going to comment. I'm going to be above it all or I'll have a pithy comment. And I know the royal family will hate that or whatever. And I'm just going to ignore them. And I'm going to live my life. They can't kick me out. I'm married. I'm going to go and do the events. And I'm just not going to respond. And I'm going to be above it all.

50:46And you're going to have to deal with it. Because ultimately, I think it was jealousy because I think whether you like Megan Markle or not, she was overshadowing, what's her name? Kate, I don't even know the names. Kate. She's overshadowing Kate. She's better looking than Kate. But I have to give it to her. She's a beautiful, gorgeous woman. She's naturally beautiful. She's naturally elegant. She is very articulate. And I think that, you know, that's why they hate. I would have just ignored it. And I would have been a bad bitch. That's all I'm saying. I'm watching my smoke. I second that. I mean, I guess the thing is though, she played it wrong in two ways. One, joining the royal family was just a mistake. Like, she should have known. And I think the, especially interesting for Black people in Britain, I would say the first time many of us, not all of them, many of us really said actually, you know, we relate to Megan Markle,

51:46is in the Oprah even to you. When she's saying just had bad deracism was, you made her think about suicide. She couldn't really, that was the moment we thought, OK, she's black. Like, she's with us, we get it. And when you go through that daily, all the time, you can't just go through it. You can't just take it. You can't just rise above. It's really difficult, right? Because that does actually get to, wasn't it? You can ask the question. Can I ask you a question? Quick question, Candy. See what you said, she's naive. And ironically, I would actually argue it was arrogance. And this is where it gets contentious. This is where I'm here to play devil's advocate here. It's not argues arrogance. I think she was ill advised on saying that, because it's the whole thing is you need to create this disneyfication of being a princess and what it means to marry into the family. So it's like, no, I had no idea. And she did. She did. And that was bad advice. I think, so I'm going to fall between the two of you. I think there's arrogance and naivete because then she said, I know how to work. And I think she was surprised that people didn't want her to work. She wasn't going to get a gold star, doing more than Kate and William, especially during the time. She comes into the family right when work shy will is still a thing in the press. And she is going to miss me into a full-time royal. He is going to be this elder statesman. And suddenly this woman marries into the family and is doing more than has. She's got a guy now. Yeah. You can't do it the other day. I'm just going to do something else. I accurately think she expected some amount of protection. For instance, the final straw really was when her letter was given to the press. Her letter after her wedding to her father, Thomas Marl,

55:52was given to the male on Sunday. And they just printed it. And she goes royal family. And she's like, hey, I think we have a problem here. This is a pretty clear violation. And they're like, yeah, we'll deal with it. Don't worry. No one does. It's like the suicide. I'm just like the suicide, which I, and this is quite relevant because we have suicide day, which was yesterday. William partnered with their charity. And he's got a whole toolkit. And it did an event talking about suicide and making sure that you look after those, such as suicidal and dealing with mental health issues. And I remember thinking, oh, wow, how awkward. So Harry Megan just arrived at what end of August. And we would, you know, that one of the reasons, not just the media, not just not being able to be half in, half out in terms of the working royal, but also because they didn't get the support in terms of mental health. And you hear, he have William and Kate starting around yesterday in England talking about suicide and how we must support everyone who has mental health issues. Well, that's, you know, that's self preservation. Yes.

56:53And that's self preservation. They got to keep the title. They got to keep the money. They have to keep the gravy train. They've got to keep the British people paying for them to live in palaces and whatever, even though they need repair or whatever. They still have to, they've got to pretend and they want to keep their title. If they were honestly true about, you know, suicide, if they felt, you know, that it was a problem, they would have dealt with it with Meghan Markle. And they're not. And it's, it's all about money for both of them, for the press and for the royal family. I'm reputation. I'm reputation. I'm reputation. Yeah. Canday, last word, the Charles is saying, hey, they're definitely not. Why do you feel the need to say, hey, they're not going to be working royals at all. And if I were them, I'd be like, thank goodness. Now, here's what I would do. Everything would be an event. Every, because they, now they're, now they're definitely not royal family. So I would call up Dior, I would call up, you know, Hermes, I'd call up whoever.

57:54Give me some clothes. Let me go show these motherfuckers what, what, what it looks like. And every event, I would go to every dinner. People would ask me to come and join and speak. I would join, because you know the poperites, you're going to be there. And I would just smile. And someone would say, how about such and such? Oh, I don't bother myself with that. I'm just here, because I care about these young kids who are dealing with such and such. Can we talk about the scourge that is blah, blah, blah? That's where that's important. Thank you very much. 1:01:59You can see it downtown where two towers once stood. You can see it in the names etched in the memorial. You can see it in the firefighters who are still gathering with friends that will never come back. And with family members, some of the firefighters who survived, and some of the family members who had to suffer, the tragedy of having their loved ones who never came home. And you could hear it in the stories at New Yorkers who still remember exactly where they were when the first plane hit. Almost 3,000 people were killed that day, 2,977. They were office workers. They were firefighters. They were police officers. Obviously, flight attendants, passengers, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, grandparents, people who got up that morning, expecting an ordinary Tuesday and then never came home. And there are young people who are alive today, who

1:03:02weren't even born on September 11th, 2001. For them, 9-11 is history, something that they've seen in documentaries, photographs, classrooms. But for millions of Americans, it isn't history. It's a phone call that never came. It is a photograph on the living room table. It's an empty chair at Thanksgiving. And it's an empty place in their heart. And then there were the people who ran toward the burning buildings. When every human instinct told them that they should be running the other way, they should be running away. Firefighters climbing those stairs, police officers helping people out, ordinary New Yorkers stopping to help people that they had never met. Hundreds of first responders died that day. And in 25 years since, many more responders and survivors have suffered and died from illnesses linked to toxic dust and debris at ground zero. We had one of them on earlier this week. Nobody cared who they voted for. People lined up to donate blood. Strangers helped, strangers out. New Yorkers carried each other through hell. America was wounded. But Americans showed each other what this country could look like at its very, very best. So 25 years later, in a country that sometimes feels like they can barely agree on anything, maybe that is worth remembering to today. I'm not talking about the politics. That came afterwards. I'm not talking about the politicians who have tried to make 9-11 about themselves.

1:05:03The people whose lives ended that morning, the families who have carried that loss for a quarter of a century. That's what this is about. The survivors who still live with what they saw. Today, we remember them. So having said that, now you're informed. And I hope you enjoyed today that we gave you something that was we brought you into 9-11. We talked about Megan and Harry, which is a topic that I believe is worth discussing on a hot topic show. And we discussed that horrible convention that is happening in Dallas, Texas. It is unbelievable what is happening to this country right now.
