Traffic Advice Ahead Of Walker Cup In Lahinch

0:00Now time to turn our attentions to golf. And the walker cup, in particular, of course the next two weekends between the walker cup and the Amjinn Irish Open. We're going to see some top quality golfing. It means as well a lot of excitement around Le Hinch and Dumbegg, but also a lot of logistics involved. And with traffic advice ahead of the walker cup, in Le Hinch, delighted to be joined in studio by the NSB community policing sergeant Dominic Regan. Good morning to you, Dominic. Morning, El. Thanks for having me. No, Delight, Avian and plenty of listeners will be listening intently, although I would advise you, you should always be listening intently to morning focus between 9 and 12 each day, but particularly this bit because with so many people coming to Le Hinch, it is, it's been aware of the traffic advice is going to be very pertinent. And I think again, we were talking off air there, the walker cup, it's expected to bring in around 8,000 spectators a day in Le Hinch. I mean, what sort of impact will that have on traffic in the area? Yes, I would say, it tells not fans are expected

1:00to travel to Le Hinch each day. So it's going to be fairly busy out there. A small village like Le Hinch taking in 8,000 people at once is, it's going to come with traffic restrictions there. So the main advice that have for people, any fans without tickets are advised not to travel to the venue as it's not possible to purchase a ticket and to aggregate on board days. That's on board to 5th and 6th Saturday and Sunday. So the main advice is if you don't have a ticket, please don't travel with the expectation to get into the venue because it appears it's not possible. OK, so if you don't have a ticket, just do not go out there and add to the situation. Garde will be implementing temporary traffic stops and holds on the Liscana Road both mornings and into the early afternoon. And I guess why are those measures necessary? Yes, so on board to 5th and 6th Saturday and Sunday, there will be temporary traffic measures in place on the Liscana Road. I'll go through the times there in a second. That's to do with basically when the golf is in play on certain holes that are basically adjacent to the Liscana Road traffic will be stopped.

2:01And there is expected to be lentied delays when the golf is in play on those specific holes. I'll just go through Saturday 1st of 5th. There's two lentied delays expected, approximately 90 m to 1030 and 250 in the afternoon and 430 pm. And similarly, gang on Sunday, 850 roughly to 950 am and 220 to 450 pm. So they are quite significant. Traffic holdups there. Apart from that traffic will be moving OK. But once again, we'll advise people if they can avoid the area, if they want to go take the diversions in place, traffic signs are up for the last few days there and avoid the area if possible. Yeah, but I'll head into the congestion. Yeah, that is a particularly sound advice and with so many people, so many visitors arriving to the garlic, there's also going to be significantly more pedestrians around Lehange. Watching motorists be particularly conscious of. That's right. There will be a pedestrian crossing there to low pedestrians across from the car parks over to the Gulf Club and that's, but again, as said, with the higher than normal traffic volumes,

3:02pedestrians, et cetera, just urgent drivers to please use extra caution on the day. OK, the lower level of the promenade car park closed a few days ago and will be closed until the 9th of September. So where should those traveling into Lehange park instead of garlic? So the car parks are already closed, as you said, from last Monday up into the night. So the car parks are open as far as the members of the public, the upper level of the beach car park and the coach parking area. The scanner road car park and the Milton Milton Melby Road car park are all operating as normal. OK, there is additional parking being provided as well, working people to find those. Additional parking. There is additional parking under the scanner road there where people will be able to be able to be able to be a pedestrian crossing across the road. OK. What arrangements are in place for coaches bringing spectators to the event? Well, the cliffs of Moore and Clear County Council have been working in conjunction and informing all the tour operators of diversions in place.

4:04Obviously, for anyone visiting the cliffs, their advice not to come back through Lyskanner, Lehange area. They can travel through Dulan towards Inesdaim and back on tennis in that direction. If necessary, traffic signs are in place. So again, especially for the larger vehicles, please add, stick to the traffic signs that are in place and avoid coming through Lyskanner if possible. And speaking of signs, how important is it going to be for motorists to follow the AA signage and guided directions? It's imperative to keep traffic moving on such days like this. It's imperative that people just have patience. And please don't follow Google Maps. Just follow the local signs in place. There'll be guards on point duty at every location. There is a seek advice if necessary, but Google Maps will obviously bring you through the shortest way or the best way. And then you're the day, but follow the signs that are in place already for the last number of days, please. And we're talking a lot about visitors to Lehange for the Walker Cup, but of course, we've plenty of residents there as well. What advice would you have for locals

5:06who still need to get about their daily business around Lehange over the weekend? Obviously, for locals who need to commute out of Lehange and back into it, just simply add, allow for extra time for your journeys, please, because it will be, traffic will be significant in the area over the weekend. So everyone, residents, visitors, tours, et cetera, we all need to just have extra patience this weekend, please. Okay. And as you mentioned, if you don't have a ticket, just stay away from the venue because you'll only be adding to the situation and there are no tickets to be purchased on the gate.
