All right, a couple quick things. The Sunday night HBO show this or last week with John Oliver. Do any of y'all watch it regularly? I watch it on Monday nights. Sometimes. I wouldn't say regularly, but I do.

1:00I do check for it every now and then. So you know the format of the show first five minutes of the show. He's usually quickly hitting some news items. Sometimes he takes that a little longer. And then they do a deep dive on something that takes about 20 to 25 minutes. And they, you know, they break it down. It usually ends with John Oliver going, so what can we do about this? You know, and so and then basically you watch the show and you go, man, we're all screwed. The world's in. And then he makes, he makes fun of that. He makes fun of this is the most depressing show ever. And it's a comedy show. And so I've got two things about watching it last night. So they do this whole thing. Do you guys know what USAID is? USAID? Uh, yeah. It used to be around and then they cut a lot of the funding for it. It's if you guys remember when Trump first took office the second time and Elon was all over the place. And remember, Elon was walking around with the chainsaw and all that. Yeah. Elon was going after what he considered to be waste and fraud in the USAID department.

2:05So they're doing a whole thing on that. That's what he was focused on. Yeah. That's what his doge was department of something, something or other, um, anyways. So they're doing a, their deep dive on that. And again, usually the deep dive takes 20 to 25 minutes. So we're about 15 minutes into the deep dive. And my wife looks up from her phone and goes, why did I keep talking about this? And I was like, are you new to the show? I don't know how to answer the question. This is in every show. Oh, she's like, why is this 25 minutes on one topic? Yeah, she's like, move on already. And I'm like, well, that's the show. I don't know. Right. I don't know what to say. It's kind of like going, you know, you're watching three's company. Why does that Jack character pretending like he's gay? Well, it's the whole premise of the show. I don't, I don't know. I don't know what to tell you. So there was that, but then they did a little end around. The show is longer than usual. Oh, reverse. Yeah. And at the very end, they had a short bit in which they talked about soap operas.

3:06Now, are you guys aware that Steven A. Smith is on, I think it's general hospital? I remember hearing about that. He has no family at all, right? He has no other obligations than the jobs that he does. Because how can you be everywhere? Well, this is interesting because I've seen it in the last year. I've seen him pop up. And I just assumed he was playing Steven A. Smith. But what I learned last night on last week tonight with John Oliver, and it was a story that was written by our friend Steve Shackleford's sister, Chrissy. All right. And she's actually in the sketch that ends the show. All right. So she's in the sketch and she wrote the sketch. And there's a reference that we, I found out this morning to Shackleford's mother, because John Oliver's doing this whole bit. Steven A. Smith has been on the soap opera for a decade. Oh, wow. I had no idea. Wow. He's been doing this since 2016 and he shows up as a character named Brick and Brick works for the Mafia.

4:06Okay. And so they're doing the bit and John Oliver says one of our staffers noticed Steven A. Smith, but didn't know who he was knew that they knew him from somewhere and asked their mother, who is that, which the mother replied, that's Brick. So she didn't say it was Steven A. Smith said it was Brick, and which then goes to the whole idea that people that watch soap operas don't know who Steven A. Smith is and people that know who Steven A. Smith is don't watch soap operas. Yeah. So he's existed. Yes. In this world that there's no Venn diagram in which it intersects. Yeah. And I mean, he's appealing to a lot of different people, two totally different audiences. Which is why he's probably drunk enough to think he could be president. Yes. And they show a scene in which he shoots an assassin and the manner in which he shoots the assassin is amazing. You may have seen it on social media because it did go around. But anyways, if you, even if you don't watch last week tonight with John Oliver, do

5:11watch the final five minutes of this week because I feel very connected to it because of our show. The show's are done by Steve Shackleford. We had his sister on our show. She's in the sketch last night. She plays a nurse. It's funny. And she came on our show to talk about the writer's strike, you know, four years ago or three years ago, and ever that was. So even if you don't regularly watch that show, do watch the final five minutes. And I think you'll be wildly entertained. Hell yes. I cannot wait to watch that. I had no idea. I thought he made like appearances or whatever, but I didn't know he was a character for a decade. All right.
