So I don't even want to ask why I kind of do, but what way, you know, I was like, who's going to be the first major injury of the season? Because somebody that you were that was taken in the first round of your draft is getting hurt. It happens every year. And that's going to be the difference of some guy who looked like you had a really good team to suddenly be like, oh my God, my team's not very good. Now unless you're in like an 18 league where your your waiver wire is so big, you'll have opportunities to bounce back a little bit. But if you're in a 12 team league, you is one of your starting running backs unless you have his backup. It's tough like McCaffrey is already a little bit nicked up, but we'll see. I I wonder who it's going to be. I don't want to put any names out there because people would be like, car my Gregor, that's terrible. You should never say that fair point, but you just know what's going to happen. And you kind of hope it's not you. It's out of your control. It's out of your control, but you hope it's not you. All right, the NFL season is here and I have another NFL take I wanted to bounce off of you gentlemen. We live in a world of comparisons obviously in discourse like this will dominate a lot of the mainstream talk shows and it's something I wanted to bring here because I think that as it stands today September 9th 2026 Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the world and when you talk about you know career totality obviously some of the guys in the league right now staff or Rogers of course even a guy who is his agent his contemporary no question Patrick my homes has a better career than him I would actually argue even with the lack of playoff success Lamar might have a better career than him.

3:29But right now when you look at who's the best quarterback Lamar did never good season last year got hurt Joe burrow consistently been abandoned Pat my homes really really underwhelming your last year and two years ago I know the record was pretty his individual stats are great Pat my homes hasn't made an all pro team in three years hasn't even made a pro bowl in two and then Stafford I know he's the raining MVP coming off the you know incredible 46 touchdown season but with the age and everything I think if there's one quarterback you point you right now in the NFL and say that's the best quarterback in the league I think you're pointing at Josh Allen. Okay, um Josh Allen was 11th because if you're going off of last year he was 11th in passing yards last year. Uh huh. He hasn't been able to push them over the top in the playoffs so I can't say he's clearly the best quarterback and it's funny because I do think it brings up like every point you guys are going to make is going to be valid. I'm going to tell you guys that ahead of time but when we just look at it in a vacuum like because this is my other question this is what I come back to right now today based on the past couple years of my homes based on the injury history of burrow in Lamar last season like who are you taking over Josh Allen.

4:39Well, here's the thing how many games in the homes miss last year he missed three I think they were sitting when he played. Yeah, so he basically had 100 less passing yards than Allen on the whole season like they're losing games. Yeah, well because their team isn't good. Yeah, right? Like if you don't know if you don't have as good of a team it's hard like you can't be a miracle worker. You're not playing defense right if you don't have any talented receivers. I don't care how good of a court. But I would argue Josh Allen was in a worse situation roster wise and they did win last year. I would say comparable at least. I don't know. I think they had more playmakers and in Buffalo but I like Allen a lot. I just I actually think the best pure quarterback is Joe burrow. He just banged up. Yeah, like talent wise it's really hard to stand like Pat my homes is ability to me. No one's better when you need a big play and a key play right now than Pat my home. He's got no none of the other guys have a track record to say that they can make the big play consistently at a key time, especially in the playoffs as Pat my homes.

5:47None of the active guys obviously Brady or not we're only talking active. I don't think there's a quarterback that can do it. I think Aaron Rogers as well but that would have been you know 10 years. Right. So it's different. Yeah. All right. Like I would on on pure talent though. Like I could make an argument for the Marjacks. Oh for sure. When Lamar when Lamar decides to run, which is part of the quarterback conversation now, there's no quarterback better. Yeah, Chiefs last year six and points per game defensively. So defense wasn't the biggest issue for the Chiefs last year. Score couldn't score. Who has received issues. Yeah. And that along with you know that's part of being a quarterback in a fell Tom Brady. Yeah, had a really good defense. He won super balls with the on branch, right. He could get the job done David Givens back in the day. I would mostly agree with you on this one. My biggest things we talk about the time who's the top one who's top two who's top three. You don't need a top three quarterback to win a Super Bowl in a NFL Matthew Stafford just one. You know like you have to be a guy who can win you a Super Bowl. I'll see your Matt Stafford. I'll raise you a Sam Darnold. Sorry. That's what I just say. My bad.

6:47Um, Jalen Hurts gets ripped on constant. This guy sucks. He's got a Super Bowl. He's been to two, right. Like so you don't have to be a top quarterback to be the winning Super Bowls because that's at the end of the day. What matters? Are you good enough to win a Super Bowl? That's kind of you know what I'd like to put in there just because you know, Josh Allen can be the greatest. At times he does tries to do too much and it costs some games. We saw that against the Broncos, right. That played at the end of the first half, which was huge when he just I don't know what he was doing. Like through it away, right. So I think at times you can do a little bit too much. So there's guys I think that are in that category of like the best and can win you Super Bowls. I mean, we look at fantasy sports. Josh Allen was consented to number one quarterback. He's going to put up points. He's a threat inside the red zone to run the football and also to throw the football right and this or a DJ more. I think that's a good addition. I won't argue with you, but I think there's like a lot of guys that are right in there when you put them in a good enough situation. They can get the job done. Like last year though, Matt Stafford was the best quarterback in the NFL last year. Oh, crushed it. Yep. Right. Like last year and Sam Darrell was like top five for sure. And that's why through Matt in the conversation. I just think like with respect to Matt Stafford in his career because of the age,

7:51no one's probably going to put him in the conversation. Farer unfair. I just think that's like it is a factor. It is something that works in that I did have him in the conversation, but I just think that's what keeps him on the edge. He had 52 total touchdowns last year. And I'm watching my fantasy drafts. He's, you know, 10 quarterbacks are going before him. Josh Allen is good as he was and had what 14 on the ground, 12 14 still in 45, right? So like crazy what Matthew Stafford is. I feel like he's a guy that still gets slept on, but the age, the injury, possibility, I guess, might be a reason. I'll go to the NHL and I'm sure you guys saw today the news Chris Criter being bought out for purpose of termination release for termination. I'm going to clear up $6.5 million for the Anaheim Ducks. And that's going to be crucial for them to try to get Carter Go chase signed. I believe they're $9 million. Now the Troy Terry money they can work in as well. But I got to say you guys, I don't think the ducks make the playoffs this year. Like I think this team is due to fall off quite a bit here. Like you look at that blue line and the questions are there. What did they do this off season? I lost Radco Gouda. And I know he wasn't the player he once was, but that's a leader. That was your captain Jacob Truba.

8:56Mason McDabbs, John Carlson, Olan Zelliger. You know, you can argue how good they are, but they're good NHL players. And the response was to bring AJ Greer and Nick Jensen, Laura, and Versailles. The season eight shootout wins eight known to shoot out there. Perfect. Will they duplicate those numbers? I don't know. But I think this season when you look in that Pacific division, there'll be maybe in the hunt because there are some really bad teams. I guess in Emerton, I'm going to lock them in at one and two. But I think this is the year the San Jose sharks jump in there. They improved that blue line. Same sort of things. You can have questions, but Darnell Nurse, Jacob Truba, good players. They draft Stenberg on Mason. Marksman comes in there as well. I think Will Smith takes a step forward, not Consul Breene, again, continuing to do what they do. I think four months ago, whenever the oil was lost in the ducks, I thought, damn, this team is a bright future. And I've done a total 180. I think they're in trouble. Yeah, like there's no question there. You know, their decors Jackson, LeComin, Fred, let me ask you that. Do you think they are that far behind San Jose?

9:56Because I think both of those teams are in a pretty similar boat. Well, I know there's some different comparables defensively, but I don't look at San Jose as being that much ahead of them. And I'm not saying I don't have I think it's a lock either. I do think they'll probably get in as either that third team in the Pacific or a second wildcard. I'm just like, do you think San Jose is that much clear of them? I do. Yeah, I think they will. I mean, I look at the ducks have lost a lot. Yeah, they're blue line is bad. It's terrible. It's might be the worst thing on a channel. They're paying $18 million for Carlson, who we know is upside for a little bit more. You're getting math and celebrating who, if they make the playoffs, I think is a lot higher on a lot of teams heart ballot. I will say this about Leo Carlson. I think Leo Carlson is is going to be a player that everyone's like, oof, like it's hard to live up to 18. But he's going to put up some big numbers here moving forward him and cutter go J as a duo could be one of the best duos. Now the problem is that Troy Terry's out for at least two months to start the year. They just lost Criter. They've lost Truba. They like they've lost a lot of their grit and energy like I'm sorry, AJ Gerr can replace it all by himself. And good on AJ Gerr got some money had a career year last year. Awesome. But like the ducks have a lot of young guys that they're hoping that they're like Pat for beacon his team believe that their young players are all going to take a step. And that is that's a risk.

11:22It's a risk to think that all your young guys are just going to get better or even or even if you know to to maintain like Beckett said, he's 60 points is really good. Now maybe he can get a little bit better. Like Jackson, look home 58 points. That's really good. But Chris Criter and Troy Chris Criter at 50 points for the ducks last year. He just walked for nothing. And Troy Terry had 57 points in 61 games basically a point of game guy. He's out. So there's two of your top five forwards gone. Right Mason, McTavish gone. So who they replacing with I'm with you, cons. It's hard. You know, at the end of the year, look at their defense like in the playoffs, look at the ducks defense that won the Matt series. And who's not there? John Carlson's gone. Jacob Truba's gone and owns outlooker who only played three games, but still had two points in three games gone. So that is of your minute eaters, Truba and Carlson each played 24 minutes a night in the playoffs. They're both gone. So now Pablo Minshikov, he jumps up Tyson Hines played 11 minutes a game in the playoffs. Ian more played 10. Right Drew, he'll listen played nine.

12:41And then there's another guy's are now are going to suddenly jump up to be 16 17 minute and I guys on your blue line. Like I know that they added from Ottawa. The one guy is Nick. His name is escape me off top my head. So, but he'll be asked to do a lot. And Jensen, Nick Jensen. Yes. So, you know, is he going to play that many minutes like that is that there's a lot of what ifs on their back end that to and I love Jackson. And like I think is a hell he's a number one defenseman on any I love them. It's a player. I think Minshikov can improve, but like Tyson Hines drew hell is in Ian more Tristan Leno. Like, come on. That's your number four to number six. Demon. None of them with a boatload of experience. And none of them of the team itself didn't really play much in the playoffs. We're talking eight to 11 minutes a night. And now one of those guys has to be at least an 18 minute and a guy this year. So that's a big ask. Do you guys like the better than the Kings? No, don't think so. Cracking. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Do you guys were you in a similar position last year during that oilers duck series thinking like I will conceive Leo Carlson. I think he's just stud. Like when he's carrying the puck across the blue line. I'm thinking. So it might happen here. I really like that. At that time, I was thinking this is going to be a problem like well coached good team. And I, I've just done a 180 like I said, I'm concerned about him.

14:05They lost some guys, but the orders also had like their four centers hurt. Yeah. Right. So there is that. But the reason why I like like the Kings have penaren campaign and fiala. Like those guys can all score. Like they didn't fiala and penaren never played the same time last year, right? They acquired penaren campaign. I'm sorry. Fiala got hurt. Now, they're are going to miss Copa. No question. But Quentin by feel Trevor Moore, Lafayette, you know, Scott Lotton. I like, I like their top seven. They're depth a little bit of concern. They're into me. They're, they're issues on their blue line. Right. Can they move the puck well enough? That's, that's the question. And I'm fascinated to see what drew doubty. Like what happened? I know, you know, it's his last year. Is he going to end up as a king probably. But they don't want to play off round since 2014. Does Drew look and say, man, like I want to cups. It's unreal. But I'd like to be back in the playoffs again, or at least went around because they've been in the playoffs. I just can't win. And I just wonder if maybe if they're around the cuss. There's drew doubt in the Kings talk trade.

15:14But I still like the Kings more in the ducts today, because I think they've got, they've got more proven players. The ducks got a lot of question marks on their team right now. Yeah, I mean, geez, I, I know it's not just the offered obviously that didn't really necessarily help them. I sure they would love to get cars and locked up at a lower number earlier on in the process. But I think just there's just so many questions with this group. Totally agree. Totally agree. The Orioles, even what they win, they would still be a game and a half back of of Toronto and three back of Cleveland. So not and the J's. It will be taking on Baltimore starting on Friday in a three game set. 21:41probably been a lot of discussion about what happened and what he was involved in and what happens in sand so I looked at the player of himself and you know he's a big guy that can skate and you know still a lot of people being critical of his scoring or lack their out of with Ombry in the Swiss league and traditionally speaking Ombry is a small market Swiss a lead team like they're in a small town so they struggle they struggle to score goals last year they didn't make it the playoffs I think they're one of the whole league like one of the lowest scoring teams so you know you got to remember that when you're looking at your reflection of the player thinking of what he is like some of the top scores the league had 20 equals on the top team in Davos and he had 13 on Argo the one of the three weakest teams in the league and there's a dozen or so teams so that does make a difference now low cost but you know there's obviously could be some upside here I guess with his speed and size but I think expectations have been muted because he's a wild card right he's a complete wild card he's played one what I call true good year in the NHL he had a good year but he hasn't played in quite a while and then played in Swiss so it's different coming back it's a fast

22:47league but it's not the NHL. Yeah well he hasn't played the NHL in four years and then he played three years in Swiss and one year had a year off and you know he's here listening to Stan Bowman I talked to Stan earlier today and I basically asked him like you know why did you make the signing and you know it came down to really the penalty kill that you know Matt Savoy got injured and Henry is not back those are probably their two best penalty killers obviously they got Dickinson but their PK strides like I looked at the numbers outside of 2024 the last five years they're penalty kills not very good it's it's what's actually under 80% every year even in 24 when they had that unreal run for their final 69 games but their first 13 were so terrible that it still was under 80% and then obviously the playoffs was unbelievable but I look at their penalty killing you know it's one like I would argue that goalies and defense are the most important pieces are closer than that you know they block more shots your fours are important don't give me wrong but I think the key to a PK and you are on it so maybe I'm wrong but I really think it starts there

23:51and your top guys are important they got a pressure but like how much of a difference do you think a top killing forward can make for this penalty not even saying that he's that guy but I mean like a guy at the top how much can you make a difference on your PK well I think it helps but I would agree with you I think it is the D's and the goalies that do a lot of it and I think it's at times the the way you're playing it you know I think back to last year how many times I saw a guard on her it's just trying to stand and kind of back in a little bit and those guys are brought walking and just hammer that puck like if you know you want to be more aggressive you want to hold your ground and this this isn't a diamond on her side I'm talking I didn't like the system they had last like last year it was a bit too passive I'd rather go down fighting and you look at some other more successful power penalty kills than league they are more aggressive so that includes like D and forwards but you know and obviously the goalies have to make the save but I just think back to have just they're just stand darn it was just standing there just waiting for somebody shoot it by him and it's just not fair so I hope that

24:52they have a more aggressive penalty kill one that you're forcing guys to beat you with good passes and it might happen sometimes but I'd rather get beat by a really good pass or someone you know threatening the needle rather than just sitting back and on someone just walking and hammer a shot by me so you know I I that's something like there's a lot of things I'm looking forward to start this training camp but the pk and the way they do it breaks that's if not the top my list down close yeah I you know DJ Smith will bring in a different system for sure I think that's like I think I think you know there's lots of talk about Mike Babcock but I do think that DJ Smith is is a big upgrade from Mark Stewart as a coach on your back end and I think that that's going to help the team first just got he's got way more experience he's got a little bit better attract record running the penalty kill I think that's obvious so you know we'll see where it goes but I'm you know I look at you know for mton you know Dickinson's obviously they're best killing their best penalty kill for I think he's the guy who's on your first unit for sure Murphy maybe it's Ryan Shay you know

25:54what and then you go from there cap it in Dickinson is a duo we're pretty good what about pod calls and study like when I look on paper and I watch him play Mike my god this guy is all work ethic like he's relentless in theory he should be a good penalty killer should he not he should any and I love the word he does because he's gonna block shots and he's gonna get in the way and he'll do it every needs to and you know he's not getting power play time so find a way to get this guy more ice time you know you're you're thinking of him you don't just trend Frederick get a chance on their Jan Mark we're see fit into this whole thing new genocans how does he fit there you know obviously we know it's the boy can do so there's a few guys there I think you you highlighted some of the clear ones then after that it's okay where do these guys go and if you truly want people have a role in responsibility you got to find a place for these guys to do it but you also have to do a good job so pod calls in and if he if he walks in the first day and they say hey we want you to family kill you better look at every detail understand because every shifts of audition with a new coaching staff and yeah I know that it's not like you suck for the first time you'll get more chances but you want to make them think

26:56right away that you can kill pounds like I I played the left side I remember one day the coach came up can you play the right side yes I can I might I don't know if I can I've never played the right side but I will I'm not no I know what that doesn't work for me same when they play for I didn't want to play for it but can you play for it absolutely I can play for okay where am I supposed to be go ask the other coaches right and you figured out so that's where pod Colton's got to be and I'd like to see him get more ice time because I also again he keeps them in the game more but I think shame or if you for sure I'd like to see Bhushar and get a break off the power of the family kill and other guys get opportunity just to give him you know either again other people more roles yeah no that's totally valid when you look at at the Oilers in their blue line for Murphy Walmutter Shay who do you think is going to be a better partner at Edward Jones we believe rich means opening yourself to new possibilities that's why you're dedicated financial advisor meets you where you are helping you move forward with

Yeah yeah I think I'd like to see one would be side shake beside Murphy I just think that I think they complement each other now I'm expecting a healthy and physically fit wallman to be back here because we these two things we've seen it be played really high levels and then I think Murphy we know what his games pretty consistent nothing really changes I think it's a clear definition of jobs tight and responsibilities that allows a guy like wallman to maybe jump up and take a few more chances you know and calculate chances knowing that Murphy's back there and he's going to do it he does so those are the two guys I like to see and then that third parent becomes quite formidable when he have a shea there and with of course probably I'm just saying I'm guessing but you know that becomes a pretty good six deep players they can get things done they can all kind of definitely they should all be you know for sure wallman maybe not but he can

31:00then as I remembered now you may remember differently I thought they got off to a bit of a little bit so they're two seven one yeah so there it is so I think you know you got to be careful what you're trying to you don't want to burn out in these times either you know you can focus on different areas and and maybe it's also about you know integrating some of the new players and feeling like you know what they do in certain moments and in you know not pressured it's a captain skate game that's not like it's being played Saturday night for it's down a cup but you still get to see kind of what they do and you get to know them a little bit so maybe that's kind of a tough process there but this group is experienced this core group of guys have been through a lot they've done a lot of different ways of doing the captain skates and this year it sure feels for what you're hearing and what you know people are talking about there's a lot of focus on and on being detailed and intensive to what they're trying to accomplish each day in these skates. And uh Stretty McDavid and dry settle playing together with pod Coles and New Jean Hopkins, Hyman and Howard and honestly I get the sense that that's we're going to see to start the

32:04preseason. Maybe in the regular season we'll see there's only two preseason games. Um I don't mind it because their schedule early on is very favorable the first eight games no back to backs they got three and two days off multiple times I've never seen a road trip like that by the way but um you can do it. I just don't think it's a long term solution right I still think at the end of the year McDavid and dry settle the team is better when they play on their own line. What do you think? Yeah I go I like them on their opposite lines now we Savoy out it does change things a little bit but you know I coward to me as a wild card you know if if you can prove to be a any cellar let's say by Christmas when I get this guy's going to play in the top nine that changes thing because it gives more options for the coaching staff but also Bapcox going to want to see what and feel what it feels like when you have those guys together in a part. 35:11team and I know they're going to sign Cutter Gochie that's probably part of this this Criter situation but what you make a Criter and where is he all of a sudden a guy that lots of teams like all right here let's sign him up.
