1:03Honestly, anyone of them could win that division. And my lock, I'm actually going to go with the Panthers. I think they'll win their division. That's my pick to win the division. Win, ask. Final question for you today is Star Trek Day, which I did not know was a thing. So, hey, are you a Trekkie? And also, what are your top three sci-fi movies of all time? I am not a Trekkie. I have never watched a Star Trek movie and barely watched a show. But if I'm going that genre of sci-fi, who got there some really good sci-fi's, buddy? Um, oh god. There's lots of what would be number one in that... I probably would still go like the original Star Wars just from the time of my life when it came out was unreal. I love Predator. That was fantastic.

2:05And I'll go with Planet of the Apes. Good picks. I'm going to go with a IMD B list, just so I don't get the genre wrong. But they have IM Legend there. And I love that movie with Will Smith and his dog. They're not zombies. People will always quit to correct. They're not zombies, but whatever they are. That's a fun one. I did see Project Hail Mary in theaters, which was another one that I definitely enjoyed. And then my top one... Ooh, let's say back to the future. That's a classic one you can watch over and over. See, I just remembered another one that I think would fit would be 12 monkeys. That was sick. Oh, by the way. So, I went to the Odyssey. By myself, I have to say, I have a whole story about that a little bit later on. But I went to see the Odyssey. Cons, have you seen it? No, you had it. It was quite too long for you. That's a concern, yeah. I didn't feel long at all. I quite liked it. I never felt like... Because sometimes when movies really long, you'd be like, okay,

3:07that scene could have been two minutes instead of 20. I didn't really... I didn't think that. I quite liked it. I was a big fan of the Odyssey. Right, there was maybe only one scene where I was like, okay, but the rest... Top notch. And, you know what? Good cast of different characters in it. I was a big fan of the Odyssey. I'd recommend it. Strongly. It's coming in at what? Two hours? Two hours, about 45. Two 45? Yeah. If I'm in theater, I can probably... Oh, yeah, even... Like, because my nephew's... You know, it's loud at times. Now, that's the only thing. Anytime there was like a big moment scene, it got a little bit too loud. I will say that I'm like, okay, what do you like, dude? I can hear it. So that was maybe my only, but that's like a small little critique. But I quite... I thoroughly enjoyed it. thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the whole premise in the storyline. How they weaved it in and kind of going back and forth in time, loved it.

6:12Join us and it was a super comeback in the fourth quarter by the Emmington Elks who no one's better than them in the fourth quarter. That's just a fact. They dominate down the stretch and come from behind. They've done it two weeks in a row. And it's not always how you start spec. It's how you finish. Well, I can tell Tommy this morning. If you told me that my football team was going to win one half almost every game, I'd take the second half over the first half every time. That's kind of the team this is, right? You can complain all you want about the first half, but they're kicking tail on the second half pretty much every week. That's usually the half you want to win. Well, yeah, well, it's a close game. Yeah, if you're too far behind, it's not great. If it's a close game and you're in it, yes, then you're liking it. And given credit, man, they have, they're a team that believes they're never out of a game because action speak louder than words. And they show that they feel, you know what? The game's still on. We're still in it. They came back from 18 points to win that game.

7:15Yeah, right. Listen, it's not the first time. This has been going on all year here now. Yeah, you know, whether they, I mean, this was a little bit, you know, of a pronounced, you know, 28, 14 with, you know, the fourth quarter-starting with about 12 minutes left, I think. That's a big one. Like this is a big comeback. They have, they're not doing this every week. And you can't start to think you're going to be able to do it every week. No, but what they have done is had a defense that's been able to keep their, keep the game close enough and still winnable. Well, their offense takes quite a while to get going. You know, if you want to find a negative, you could probably could find it in an offense that has had a lot of crappy first half this year, right? Like they're kind of playing, you know, 35 minutes of football. This offense on a lot of nights. And I'm not sure that that doesn't come back to bite your J at some point. Don't you think? It might, but then I counter with, well, did Calgary play like how many, how many minutes of their offense play? Look at Winnipeg the week before, right? Like there's the last,

8:17but Calgary's the last place team. You're not. Yeah. No, but I look at, I just look at that Winnipeg game, who's Winnipeg's pretty good team. Many of them have tried the fourth best. They had, they had what, like 50 yards in the second half against the Elk. So sure, I agree. Yeah. Like I agree with you, though, like you obviously would, would not like it to become a trend of where you're, you're stubborn, you're told that frequently in the, in the first half. But Connor Halley brought up a very good point. Good memory by cons because last year we had Cody Fajrato on the show. And he spoke about how he just, he hates playing it at McManit's. He just, he doesn't feel comfortable and you'd be on the turf there, spec, right? Like it's higher in the middle and it, and it kind of goes down. And how many times it, how many times that he overthrew a wide open receiver yesterday, multiple times, right? He's not the first guy to say that about that feel, that it's, it's like they're all crowned because you want the water to run off of them, right? Like every field is crowned. It's supposed to be, but apparently according to guys who know,

9:19and I'm not one of them, but the guys who play on it will tell you that that McMan feel has always been a little bit pronounced. Oh, it's worth it. Yeah, and throw some guys off a little bit. And that's, that's just, you know, I guess I'd call that whole field advantage, right? You know, I don't, whatever, like that's, but anyhow, listen, like, I guess the other thing I, you know, I love a team that can look at its issues mid game and solve a lot of them, you know, like on offense, they, they figured out a bunch of, you know, their play calling change in the second half. They made some different, so they, they had different reads. They did different things. Somehow, the pass rush that they Edmonton could not handle for most of the first half, they figured some stuff out and handled it in the second half. And all of a sudden, the quarterback saw a little bit of time that's real. So that's one thing this team's got going on. Now, if that starts with the coaching staff, no doubt, but it bleeds down to the players who can adapt. And that's, that's one of, to me, that's one of the signs of a really good football team is,

10:21they don't have just one way they can win. If all of a sudden they got to shift gears and, and win a different way, these guys are showing it man. They can win a different way. You, you, once they figure out what way it's going to take to win, they're winning. And that's a, you can't just buy that at the store. That's something special. Yeah. No, I would, uh, I'd agree. And it makes for the rematch, uh, people are excited. The teams nine and three can clinch a playoff spot with the win on, on Saturday and gets closer like right now. They're shaping up. If you go three and three, BC and Winnipeg have to go six and owe it a catch. Uh, to not have at least one home playoff game. So it's, uh, they've set themselves up here. Uh, pretty good. They're next four games. Calgary, Toronto, Hamilton, Hamilton, you could, uh, you could clinch a playoff spot before those final two games of a, or maybe you can pitch, uh, home field advantage. So we'll see where it goes now. Because it's not a very good team. No, like, no, Hamilton's not a good team. BC is coming on. And Calgary's, Calgary, I loved, uh, I love the, uh, Mark, uh, Killham's, I just heard a quick

11:22quote from after the game. He said, always nice to beat the red team. That's spoken like a true adventonian right there. Yeah. Well, for sure. And, you know, he, he was there for a long time. And I, I think felt like maybe he got, he got overlooked for some job opportunities there. And it was never given one. So yeah, it's always, well, it's like anything. Sometimes the people you like the most, you want to beat the most. That's just, yeah. Oh, yeah. So he's, though, he was a U of A football player. So he's, you know, he's been trying to beat the red team for a long time. And listen, that just, that just puts a lot of wind in your sales. You come off that by and you go into Calgary and not just wind, but wind the way they dated, you know, coming back and overpowering Calgary on their own field. That, that winds were obviously two points in the standings, but more than that, even, don't you think? Yes. Yeah, I do for sure. Um, the, uh, the orders are now, uh, rookie camps a few days away. And then you've got main camp, although they'll get going. Medical's a week today, three weeks from today. The regular season goes. It's,

12:22uh, it's a, it's a real short period spec. So I want to ask you when I wrote the article today about Zach Hyman. And because I've been hurting it, I've seen and reading and Bromley and I was at a time and getting older. And I'm like, what do you talk about Zach Hyman? Yeah, he's getting older, hadn't slowed down at all. Like he was excellent last year after he got up to pace, uh, after, you know, his injury. And even he played the season basically with his wrist, uh, in a, in a, in a, like a soft little caster in a lot of the games, just because his, his full range of motion and strength wasn't there yet. But like Hyman, to me, is, is a no brainer on this team, like to play with McDabre, but unless they're going to load up the dry subtle line at times to do it. And even then sometimes, uh, Hyman will play with those two, but like I still view Hyman as a third best for it on this team. And I don't even think it's close. Yeah, I know. I'm with you. I think like a list of he's a, he's still a 40 goal player in my esteem, you know, given a healthy season. Uh, I mean, again, I don't think people realize how, you know, less than 100% he was last

13:24season, right? Yes. You know, he messed up that. I mean, he dislocated that wrist and, and he took it into the season, missed training camp, missed the start of the year, came back and played, and he always had a taped off. And I mean, I heard you say, didn't he have 30 goals between, uh, December, something in the end of the year. Yeah. So that's, I mean, it's a 30 goal guy. That's huge in today's game. And this guy's, there's no question. He's coming back this year healthy. And the thing you got to remember about him is his career started late. You know, he wasn't in the league. And he's 18, 19. So I don't know how many NHL games he's played, but 34 for him. There's no problem. He's totally fed. He's a good lifestyle. Like I got no problem with 34 year olds, that kind of, whoever it was, and you see it every once in a while, that tweet about when they signed them, there's something tweet out there that this was going to be the worst contract in history. The National Hockey League. I don't know who did it anymore, but I keep seeing it once a year. Like back, he couldn't be more wrong. This has turned out to be one of the best contracts. And that's the hockey league right now. Yeah, I think he's played, he's played over 700 games,

14:28because no, last year he played a 700. So I think he's like set in 15 or somewhere around there, give or take, I don't know the exact number, but yeah, okay, no, not something to be concerned with. No, lots left. Yeah, lots, lots left. Do you see any, like if you had to pick today for your surprise player for the orders, who would it be? I think it's going to be putt Coleson. I think this is your putt Coleson takes a leap offensively. That's what I think. I think he's had all the tools and all the everything. But I think he's going to, I think the puck's going to go in fall this year. That's what I think. What do you think? Who's your guy? Well, Coleson, a lot of people would expect him to have a good year. We've scored last year. How many goals do you get last year? I think he got 19. Yeah, I think he gets to high 20s. High 20s, okay. 27, 28. Yep. My surprise player on the Euler's is going to be Colton Doc. Wow, okay. I think Doc's going to get double digits and goals.

15:33And he brought a lot of energy to this team last year. And I think he'll do it again this year. And so bigger body, a little bit of tenacious style. And I think it's something that the organ, I think the team really needed it last year. And I think it's going to be more beneficial this year. I think if he could do all the things you're talking about, the Euler's going to be a way better team for it. You know, he brings toughness. He brings some attitude. He's fast. We can get there. And he's big. And when he hits you, you feel it. And if you're telling me that he's, let's say, he gets ten goals even. You're telling me he's going to spend all his time on the boastly on fourth line, some on the third. But if the Euler's can come up with a couple or ten goal, third liners, that's going to make him a better team because they haven't had much of a threat from down there in the last few years. 18:51Well, we get to, it's the oil report, kind of an in-advance. A, and we will head out to Boston, where Big Sign earlier today, as young Fraser Minton gets a seven year extension, $7.2 million. Scott McLaughlin from WEEI, Boston, and the skate pod joins us Scott, what were your initial thoughts and reactions to the Fraser Minton contract? Well, I wasn't too surprised. I thought there was a chance they'd get something done before the season. I think that the $7.2 million AAV looks a little steep on first look, but it's a pretty safe bet that the Bruins are making, I think. Obviously, they're going to,

19:52back that Minton is going to continue to improve on what he showed as a rookie last year, which was already a good third line center as a 21 going on 22-year-old. If he grows into a good second line center, then $7.2 million looks like a bargain, in the matter of just a couple years. So, that's the bet that they're making. I think it's a smart one. You see more and more teams, locking up their young players early like this. If they think that plays a part of their core, don't mess around. Just lock them up and kind of feels like the bridge deal is sort of dying for players like this, and they just want to get that long-term extension. Yeah. Well, I looked at Minton and Minton. He's got some offense, but they probably view him as much of offense as they feel he's a guy who's going to help them two-way. He's never been a huge point producer either in junior. There's a pointy game player, which is good, but it's not a huge production guy at the

20:56lower levels. I don't expect him to suddenly be a pointy game guy at the NHL when you were barely that in junior. It's just unrealistic. I think that's correct. He already made a defensive impact as a rookie last year. They trusted him in five-on-five matchups, defensive zone stars. He was one of their top penalty-killing forwards. Here he has that. I think he's going to get even better in face-offs. He was already close to 50%. That will always be the better off of his game. He's such a hard worker. He's so smart, LaHockey IQ-wise, that you don't bet against, is there a jump to 50, 60 point range? I think that's realistic. He's never going to be an 80 point guy. I don't think. 35 points is a rookie last year. I do think there's a ceiling there for 50, 55, 60 point player a few years down the road. You look at this Bruins lineup in the

22:02Uber competitive Atlantic division. They had had 100 points last year. But Florida is back now. They're healthy and there's Tampa and there's Ottawa and there's Montreal and there's Buffalo and Toronto things that they're improved. Where do you look at the Bruins? What's the biggest question mark heading into training camp? Well, now with Minton locked out, the biggest question mark is really what happens with Pavel Zaka, who goes into camp as their number one center, at least on paper. He was certainly their best center last season. But entering the final year of his deal, set for unrestricted free agency after the season. Does something get done there before or during camp? The Bruins are on the record, saying they want to extend them. Zaka said he wants to stay in Boston. But as of now, obviously they have not gotten anything done and it feels like there's probably still a bit of a gap there. So that's going to be fascinating because the Bruins might not really be in a position to be able to risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season. So

23:06if they can't get an extension done, then does a trade come into play? Whether that's, you know, it's probably not now, but at some point during the season. So I think what happens with Pavel Zaka is sort of the next big question for this team. Okay. Looking at the Bruins and you know, a line combinations are always fun. I always think they're overrated. Like the line who played the most together at five on five. They only had one line play over 400 minutes together. And that was the Zaka middlestad Arvidson line. And when I look at them this year, obviously Arvidson isn't there. So that's a pretty, you know, pretty big loss. But Zaka, is he going to like on paper? Is it Zaka between Paturcan, Pastron Act? Do you think that's like their top line? And then is it geeky Lindholm and Middlestad? I think they start with Zaka, Paturcan, Pastron Act. It feels like they might want to load up on the top line this year. Okay. After last year, they, there was a lot of different combinations with David Posner. As you mentioned, they kind of

24:08had that second line settled. All the enough their top line never really felt settled. At times, it was a live-sliunt home centering that. At times it was Fraser Minton. It was even Marad Hussinadino at one point. Sometimes it was geeky on the wing. Sometimes it was, you know, someone out, you know, Kussinadino on the wing. Like, there are all these different combinations. And I think with your best player, you probably want to try to find something a little more settled. And Zaka and Paturcan feels like a pretty good option in that respect. So I think they start that way. And then the second one's really interesting. You know, Elias Lindholm, they, they suddenly want him to bounce back. I think they need it for him to be worth anywhere close to the 7.75 million that he's making. So he might get first cracked there. But I do think Fraser Minton, you know, might be breathing down his neck for that second line center job. And then the other interesting thing here is, where does James Hagen slot in? The promising rookie top 10 pick, you know,

25:08is he in the top six to start? Or is he a third liner? Or does he even see some time in Providence? So I think that group that middle six is going to be, I think there's going to be a lot of jumbling, probably through camp and even into the early part of the season. Okay. On the back end, if I look at the at the Bruins, you know, you've got a Maccaboy, you've got Lindholm and you got Zador off. Mason Lowry, does he, is he more of the top pair guy with Maccaboy? Not, you know, is that the guy that you envision playing mainly with Maccaboy? I think that was the hope at one point, but the last couple years have, have made it a little tough to still see him that way. Okay. You know, two, two years ago, he was, he was, he really struggled, had, you know, not that it's the Bialendol, but had the worst plus minus in the entire league. Last year was, was better. It should definitely show some improvement. But by the end, he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. And I think there were clearly times during the season

26:10where he just didn't really seem to fit the way Marker Stern wanted to play. He still doesn't really close quickly enough in the D zone. He doesn't win enough battles down low, especially for a guy his size. And if there's not improvement there, then I don't really see him with Maccaboy. I think, I think they probably want someone a little, you know, someone that Maccaboy doesn't have to lift up as much. Someone who can help lift Maccaboy up, which has kind of been missing for a couple of years now. Yeah. Well, that's kind of my question is it seems they're kind of missing a guy to play with Maccaboy. Is that fair? Like that's what they would like to find. Like, I don't think Will Borgon can be that guy. Like Lynn home could do it. I just don't know, unless we're going to play them 25 or six minutes together, which you could. But, you know, that's because I think they thought maybe Zadorov would be that guy, but it didn't seem to be that guy either. Yeah. At times, Zadorov has been there. There were times last year where he was a really good partner for Maccaboy. It just wasn't quite consistent enough to really stick long term, but they might go back to that. They might try campus Lindholm.

27:13Campus Lindholm, Michael Lyos Lindholm, they need them to be healthy and to bounce back. You know, he had a serious knee injury two seasons ago. And then last year, I think in November, December, suffered a fracture. I think like a hairline fracture on his foot and kind of dealt with that the rest of the year. So if they can get a healthy campus Lindholm, that would really go a long way to securing their top four, whether he's with Maccaboy or anchoring the second pair. Okay. And obviously, we know who their goal is. There's really no discussion there. What do you think is going to be like, what's a, what's a fair number of games potentially for DP Etro to play? Like I'm assuming he's the guy coming out of training camp anyway that's going to be their, there's their backup. I guess they got a peterra, but there's really no one else in the mind or just yet that I think is is going to push for it. So how many games do you think DP Etro ultimately will get or maybe more importantly, anything Swamen gets as the starter?

28:15Yeah, I think they probably want to keep Swamen in that 55 game range or so. Okay. I don't know that they want to push him up to 60. I think the workload he had last year was really good for him. And so that would put DP etro if he's the backup all year around 30 games. You know, so I think somewhere right in that 28 to 31 game range is probably what they're hoping for out of him. You know, obviously a lot to prove there. This is a guy only has a few minutes in the NHL over the course of his career, but has done everything they need at the NHL. He's been back to back goalie of the year in the NHL. There's nothing left for him to prove at that level. So if he can be, you know, league average or so, then they'll probably give him those 30 games. If he struggles, then they'll have, you know, they'll have to address that and figure out, hey, can Swamen handle more of a workload? Or do they look at a Yuri Petera or, you know, another backup option? Would they have any interest in like a Connor Ingram or someone else as a veteran guy

29:17just in case DP Etro can't do it? Not at the moment. Maybe if they get into the season in DP Etro struggling, but I think they, they really want to give DP Etro the shot. They think he's earned it. It's why they traded away Jonas Corpusallo in the off season. So they're definitely going to start with giving DP Etro a real shot to run with this job. Awesome. The ring never close enough. Lamar Jackson, two MVP's, $260 million January after January, gone four generational players, four ringless fingers, four fan bases that know the feeling. We will see, is this the year? Do you believe, Oiler fans? Is this the year? There seems to be a sense. And the team that just won in Carolina, people thought, you know what, they're never going to win.

35:28And you know what? They might never get to the Stanley Cup final again. They might never win another round of the conference final with this group, but they won a cup and so everyone's like, well, it's worth it. And it's, it's kind of the unique perspective of pro sports is that you don't always have to be the best team. You just need to be the best team for four series. And just be better than your opponents. Your opponents might not be the best. You might not get the toughest draw. You might get an easier draw, but no one looks at it at the end and, and, wow, they had an easier run. Doesn't matter. All you have to do is win your 16 games. Whoever you play, just be better than them. And that's what makes it fascinating every year, every year. So could this be the year? Maybe. I'd get what the odds say, but it might be. You never know. That's, that's why you watch Connor Halley's being a fan of the Chargers, hoping, waiting. Maybe this is the year. Right? Maybe it is. Connor Halley. Maybe this is your year.

36:31Probably not, but maybe. Yeah. You know, one of 32, right? It's, it's kind of an interesting way to look at it because you want to be one of 12. Yeah. Yeah. I'm 14. Sorry. 14. So try to get in. How many teams probably look at their organization and say, you know, we've got a franchise player. I'd say most in the NFL, probably say they have at least one. Well, 31 of those guys aren't going to get a championship this year. And, you know, it's tough to do, obviously. So yeah, you go into it with a hope and a prayer every year that things might work out. We can't all be Seahawks or cheese fans, but our Patriots fans are, you know, the teams they'd have a history of winning. Maybe it's Kings or Black Oaks in the NHL, but yeah, yeah, you hope that it can find a way to happen once again. Some organizations would take with the whores of had the last few years and be happy with it. But once you get there, it's tough. Tough to build a swallow when you can't get the one of them. Oh, God, yeah. And it's, you know, it's tough. And then they're, oh, it's a failure. But I think when you say it's a failure, you're underestimating how difficult. And then there, there's such a big proponent of luck.

37:33That's true. Are you healthy? Are your key players healthy at the right time? And that probably gets overlooked at how much of an impact that truly is every year for a team to win. Right? It's a massive, it's massive in it in the, in the ability to win games. How many teams can do it? How many teams can stay healthy? It's hard to stay healthy, man. It's really hard. And there's no, there's no guarantee that, that you'll be healthy all year long. And that's what makes it so fun. But also, so I think frustrating for some fans, like there's some teams this year, like the season begins and they know their team is not winning. Right? Like I think we could list off right now for sure. All of us, 10 teams, you say no chance, like no chance that they're going to compete for a Stanley Cup. And 10 teams that have no chance

38:37to compete for the NFL. You're still a fan, but you're sometimes that might be easier if you go in with no expectations. You're like, well, you know, it's a rebuild year. Come up with all the, all the terminology we want to talk about. But that's kind of how it is. Right? Like, conj your team on paper should be competitive. Right? Like you have at least a level of expectation for your team this year. Fair. 100% yeah. But not a lot of teams do. I was talking with, because all of this morning, I wish I had that one. No, I don't. I want my team to be competitive. He's like, you don't want to be the craft team. If it goes bad in the first half, we'll turn it off. Like they don't have expectations in Arizona, right? Yeah, that's probably just maybe to try to get the first overall pick. But yeah, it's one of those things, Gregor, like every year, like, you know, if you're a Patriots fan, oh, you're so close, you know, next year, next year, we'll get it. There's no guarantees. Like, no, injuries can derail a season so fast. No, there's no because like, Drake may is good, but I don't know if he's like, that good yet. Right? Oh,

39:41I'm with you. I want, I need to see it again. Yeah. Like one year, lots of guys, and it's hard to even do a one year. And it's very impressive. I never overlook how impressive it is to do it for one year, but it is, it's hard to do it year after year and find a way to be a competitive team. That's that's hard to do. So I don't know if the, like, you know, my gut tells me it's probably not going to be the Patriots back in it, but you mentioned it earlier, like they're an organization that's won a lot. So maybe it is them. You know, you look at their schedule this year, like, it's tough against Seattle, but then you've got Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, two innable games. Bills will be tough. Vegas, jets, bears, dolphins, like they're good. You in three of those four, you're happy. Uh, well, it's a really green Bay Detroit in there. There will be some tough games, but like, they should be a playoff team again. Drake May should have another good year here. If they don't, something went horribly wrong, but I, I'm kind of on the Buffalo Bills camp in this one.

40:44I think they'll be stronger here, uh, put a better fight against the patch this year, but yeah, we'll see. I mean, he had a heck of a year. He was second MVP voting for a reason. It was deserved. I didn't for a second think he was MVP. I was Matthew Stafford the whole way, but he was in the conversation. So if he builds on that, he's got two better receivers in AJ Brown and Romeo and Robes, they brought in here. Hunter Henning, I think, can get the job at tight end. Tough to lose Henderson for the week one, uh, but they, maybe that's just a few more passing attempts for him and he can kind of build up those numbers. So yeah, we'll, we'll see if he does it again this year. If so, who knows, maybe they find a way to get back to it. Yeah, it will be, uh, it'll be fun. I'm curious, uh, about I Greg or luck on the injury timing, March, and breaking, Hyman's wrist, well, of course, honestly, I hate it. Man, the Hyman injury is brutal. This is brutal injury. And, you know, but, you know, the year before, um, you know, the dry saddle injury, nurse injury in 24,

41:47those are key at home 25. Yeah, those are massive ones. And if those guys never win, that'll always be a little bit of a what if for them, which is tough.
