Thursday afternoon. How are you? And welcome to the Jason Greger show sports 1440 sports 1440.ca YouTube Facebook X Instagram. Thanks for listening. Thanks for watching the show. We appreciate it as always busy busy Thursday. The world of sports just seems to get busier by the day. Lots going on closer to the playoffs. If you're an MLB fan, we'll get Euler's rookie camp. One thing really stands out to me. We'll get to that in our stats of the day. And talk about a doozy stat. Like if you are a believer in the contender and pretender status, I got a stat that's going to be hard to argue that this group is not a pretender. So we'll get to that in the show today. Also Chris Criter is officially a free agent as he accepts termination of his contract. I walked away from

$4 million and he'll be signing on the East Coast somewhere. Somebody in the Eastern Conference. Montreal Boston. We'll see Islanders. I never know, but there will definitely be some suitors for Chris Criter. The eminence and Elks are going to have some lineup changes. One key one and we'll get to all of that. It is the Greger show presented by play Alberta dot C A where it's Thursday. The fun game. The daily grand $1,000 a day for 20 years. It's over $7.3 million. Get your tickets at play Alberta dot C A and you'll wake up in a good mood every day because you know you just got a G note and that will alleviate some of the stress in your life. Not all of it, but a lot of it could be very good. Imagine if you had an extra jam, if you just knew eight, tomorrow got a thousand bucks coming automatically. That would be a pretty good deal. I would think a

pretty good deal. Connor Halley is here. The Seattle sea hawks are a 1 and o despite losing their starting quarterback who passed twice in that game. Got sacked once and then was out and drew lock comes in when 16 to 22 for 187 yards. One touchdown and more importantly, no interceptions. It was not the prettiest of games by any stretch of the imagination. Like there were long stretches where it was just like a snooze fest. Snooze fest is what that game was for for much of it, but Jackson's been the jigba big game eight catches 122 yards and a touchdown Cooper cup thought he had a touchdown, but that one got called back on a penalty. But the Seattle was able to to win

and then hold off as a Drake May. Well, you heard it in the intro just a horrible decision. And really that's what it was. That was the different drew lock didn't make any really egregious errors. And Drake May did and the Patriots lost to a team who lost their starting quarter back in the first quarter. Not an ideal start and it's it's not going to quiet those who felt like the Patriots last year were the biggest benefactor of a schedule. The people could remember. And I know it's only one game, but they to start this year, it didn't look much better, Connor Halley. Not much better at all. Yeah, 100%. And I would say, you know, grain of salt that was a very good salesy Hawks team. So keeping it close, you could take a maybe a little victory in that one. But Drake May has got to be better. Like the intercept at the end of the game was terrible. His second pick of the game I thought was a really bad read. The first one deflection. Hey,

those things are going to happen. But you know, even that big play he made to AJ Brown, where they called the passenger appearance at the light of the first touchdown of the game, that's got to be a touchdown. AJ Brown has his man beat. He is open. You've got to be able to drop that ball in there. And Drake may lays it up short. Obviously, we know that an under thrown deep ball a lot of times will lead to passenger appearance. So he gets bailed out with it. But that should have been a touchdown on that play. And just yeah, their inability to really move the ball down field up against a banged up Seattle sea hawk secondary when you go out there and you spend the money to bring in AJ Brown and Romeo of dogs, you've got to get a little bit more production from them. So AJ Brown had the ankle injury. It looks like it's he avoided a big injury there for Sam Darnold. They're saying maybe a week, which is really good because the hip injury could have been pretty bad. And I thought the sea hawks did a good job just adjusting with Drew Locke and not asking him to do too much. Even the touchdown pass, you know, it was fourth and one. But get the ball in JSN's hand. He's going to do the rest of the work. He takes it to the house. I thought it was a pretty good performance. Them only thing I would have liked to see to Darian Price get a few more carries. I thought he was by far the better running back in that game. But they just kept going towards

Hualani as well. I'd like to see Price get a few more looks going forward more than 10 carries, especially when you're averaging over five yards per attempt. Yeah, that's also is that maybe a little bit of the fantasy owner in you? Oh, I don't have him in. Oh, you don't have him. Okay, I thought I heard yesterday that you said you got drew drafted in both leagues. No, I during my love. His running made a no her name. That's yeah. Yeah. So no, I would just like to know this one is just you want to see him get the ball. That's fair. There might be that anti-patreon bias in me. But I was like, well, let's get him there off. This guy is moving the ball quite effectively. Maybe, you know, having him in there, they worry about just pass protection or something like that. So you have the guy in the veteran Hualani out there. But overall, I think if you're the Seattle sea hawks, you're pretty happy with the way things went. Yeah, yeah. We're going to get to the stats of the day right off the hop today brought to you by all star construction and they're hiring go to Indie.com. Look up all star construction hydrovac operator, a Derek digger truck operator, some very specific ones for sure, general contractor labor, excuse me general labor, not general contractor. So check it out at Indie.com and look up all star construction. So the stat

where cons I know I got Patriot fans listening. Do you know what Drake May's record is against teams with a winning record? First year wouldn't have been good. No, I know I don't actually. Oh, and 12. Oh, and 12. Drake the fake like you. Hey, it's one game, but he had three interceptions yesterday, one touchdown. And it's hard to argue that the Patriots weren't the benefit. And hey, you got to take advantage when you get an advantage, right? Teams will have, you we see it all the time in the NHL. Oh, you got a rest advantage. Doesn't mean you win. So I give the Patriots credit. You know what? They beat the teams they're supposed to beat. You can't you can't say, Hey, hey, we don't like our schedule. Can you give us someone else? Not how it works. And so you don't take anything away from them, but it's fair to argue that the Patriots were a big benefactor of their schedule. And now we'll see if it's different this year.

Week one is not going to change that at all. If anyway, the noise will probably get will be louder moving forward. And it was why cons when we talked about NFL teams that made the playoffs last year that weren't going to make it this year. New England was at the top of my list. And I think I think you had a missing as well. Did you not? I think they could squeak into a wild card spot. I do think they are. I mean, I will give them credit. They had a couple nice wins in the playoffs granted. It was playoff Herbert and playoff Stroud and no bone nicks. But I think I can see them being a wild card team. Yeah, I'm as well. Cardi, I got the bills winning the division. Yeah, I have the bills. Well, yeah, the dolphins. It's a common sense would say. Yeah. Um, I just I think they're going to be hard, probably. I think Cincinnati's going to be better this year. I think Baltimore is going to be better. The Colts, the chiefs, those two teams should be betting on the chiefs. I'm not sure how much better. We'll see. I don't I don't love their roster to be honest. So we'll see. But I think the pass are in tough man. And and Drake May is going to have to play better against teams with

the winning record. Now that's own 12 in the regular season. Should point that out. Playoffs are different. But that's that's quite the stat for me. So the the paths like that interception, it's rare on the broadcast of the play by play guy. We'll say such a bad decision right in real time because it clearly was like there's no reason to throw that ball. I don't know if you in year three, your OC has to say it to you or your head coach. If it's not there, throw it away, no 50 50 balls throw it away. We'll take the field goal. We'll get this game to overtime. It shouldn't have to be said to Drake May. Maybe it should have been. But yeah, you're right. And the way he was doing it to rolling out off his back foot. Come on, man. Like he got to be smarter than that. Now I do want to talk about what about quadruple Saturday. That's coming up in the CFL. That's unreal. So the games will start at 11 a.m. Ementon time auto a Toronto. Then at 2 p.m. It's a scat you and Winnipeg. 5 p.m. Calgary, Ementon 8 p.m. Montreal, BC. Unbelievable. Like if you're a CFL fan, this is an ideal day.

Lots of football. No, you might have a few minutes of overlapping, but they probably won't start one until the other ones done if it goes to overtime. But it is, it's awesome. And you've got three rematches. Saskatchewan Winnipeg, Ementon Calgary, Montreal, BC. Amazing. And I'm looking forward to it. Obviously, it'll be going to the 5 o'clock game. So watch a part of the the bombers and the riders and then leave and then get home and can watch probably the, well, at least a second half. And maybe the, the second quarter on of that Montreal BC game. So I'm loving it, man. The Ementon Elks, some lineup changes Murray, the right tackle. He's out. Didn't practice today. And Jordan Murray will not play Joe Cooper took all the reps at right tackle. He did play earlier this year guard, but looks like he's going to start on Saturday. Now they, they do have a boyco dressed, they'll have Cortes, so they have seven offensive linemen. And Joe Cooper,

like this is not your, it's not an easy first start. You're going up against Hicks. Probably the, as a duo, maybe the two best Russians combined in the CFL. Like it's going to be a tough test for Joe Cooper. And I'll be curious how, what, what the play calls are, Conn, when you're going to bring in a receiver, when you're going to have the running back, maybe even the full back to kind of help him out in certain, certain blocking schemes. I think they're going to need it. Kenny Adams Jr. did practice today, but don't expect him to play. Brock Mugansson, not on the field and it doesn't sound good. Mugansson could be out multiple, it's going to be out multiple weeks. I don't know if it's six game worthy yet, but it's going to be, it's definitely more than three. So that's that's on great news for the debt. Now they got a lot of depth. And one guy I watched today on the practice field, Conn said, I'm, well, you only saw him a little bit in camp. He looked great. And then he got hurt in the very first preseason game. He was a 12th overall pick. Sangmua is a really big fast DB. I think he probably,

I look at his size and, and how he can run. This guy could easily be a Sam Linebacker down the road. But I wonder if he gets on now because he's eligible to come off and could, could play this week. Now I don't know, you know, what they would do to get him on. Like, I don't know, are you taking matchy off? Like, I don't think they want to do that or not in a rematch game, but we'll see. But it man, I was watching 16 to practice today and that guy stands out. So he gave them credit, man, their first two draft picks have, have really jumped out. Now Sangmua, of course, is hurt, but you know, you look at their top pick. And when he started the middle linebacker position, you didn't look at a place at all. So we'll hear from Nick Anderson, Cody Fajardo, Mark Killam today. And tomorrow I went down to practice today, watch that. But that's the, the one starter change for sure. I know is that Murray is out and Cooper is going to be in, you know, they're probably going to have to bring in a body. I would think for, for Mogenson, potentially, and then, you know, we'll see. Can Sangmua get on? Is there some other changes?

But that's about it. You know, offensively receivers running backs. Everything looks the same. We know that a few guys have been placed on the six game. So Javon Leaks not coming back anytime soon. And, you know, Luther also on the six game. So we'll see where it goes. Coming up on the show, Austin Max going to join us right away. We got Dave Owens, a TRO will be by Eric Ingles. We'll go to Montreal, talk about the Habs. Are they going to sign Chris Crider? Because Matt, I look at the Habs roster. Like that's a first of all, they have money. Second of all, right now they have like 12 forwards, six defense and three goalie sign. So they got room for two players. Arbor Jacki hasn't signed yet. He's an RFA. I would think you would want him, especially that Atlantic division. There's, you know, there's a few, a few games where you need to have a little bit more muscle and size. But I look at Crider. Can skate big. He's physical. I think you would help that team. And like fit into their top nine playing their top six wherever you want to play him. I think you still got game and now I don't know if he's going to get the $4 million that he gave

up in Anaheim. He's made a lot of money. He doesn't necessarily need to put $3 million. I'd sign Chris Crider for one year, $3 million. Five's Montreal. Like Emton's not, people are wondering is Emton going to sign him? No, he wants to go at East. And I'm not even sold. He'll sign in Canada. We'll see. But, you know, the, the Islanders, the Boston Bruins are two teams that could, could look into Crider, I would think. And I won't be surprised if we see him signed here fairly quickly. So, but we'll still talk about Montreal and, you know, how do they ensure that, you know, they continue to grow off of off of last year? Livingston will be by. We got the round table, Farhan Lollge, Mark Specter, Cam Tate, so a busy, busy, Thursday edition of the Gregor Show presented by playelberta.ca. We will take a quick break and come back with the awesome act on the Gregor Show presented by playelberta.ca. Connor Halley, Declan Krueger sports 1440 sports 1440 dot C a YouTube Facebook, X and Instagram. Thanks for

listening. Thanks for watching the show. It's always brought to you by playelberta.ca. Of course, the daily grand today and then tomorrow, a lot of max 30 million dollars and 30 prizes of 100 thousand dollars. Get your tickets at playelberta.ca. And of course, Saturday, the quadruple Saturday, all four games started 11 a.m. until the last one that starts at eight. So busy day with the Elks and the stamps being the third game of the day at five o'clock in Edmonton. Weather looks good. Probably going to be about 16, 17 degrees. No rain. And I'd like a perfect fall football game as the Elks look for the sweep in that one. And we are going to get to our big guest of the day, brought to you by RV Wars. It's back this weekend at the premium outlet mall by the airport. Five massive dealers clearing out all remaining in stock RVs. Check out RV Wars dots. Yeah, for more details. And if you're in the need of an RV, it's going to be a great opportunity to

to get one there as we are joined by the leading receiver on the green and gold Austin Mac joins us once again. Austin, welcome back to the show. Man, how you doing? What's up Jason? I'm great, man. Please drive me. Hey, I appreciate it. On a game day, Austin, when you get to the to the stadium early, you go through your routine. Like the other games are on earlier. It's quadruple Saturday. Will you watch bits and pieces of the other games? I might watch the first one, not the earliest one, but I probably won't be able to get to that second one. I'm kind of, you know, by time I take my early afternoon nap, it's locked in time in our game. Kind of not worried about anything else. Okay, that's totally valid. Your team just continues to show no quit. Your offense was dominant in the in the fourth quarter. Talk to Cody, buddy says, yeah, obviously everybody wants to score every drive. It's it's not going to happen. But you end up with 38 points without like a crazy statistical numbers from really anybody. No receiver had like 150 yards. There wasn't any running backs with massive numbers, even the quarterback didn't have it.

Yeah, you still put up 38 points. How? Yeah, man. I think more and more and anything, you know, we were playing complimentary football as soon as that third quarter kind of kind of happened after they scored that last time with that field goal. I mean, it was compromising in football. So we had great field position, right? We're getting balls to the midfield, right? So shorter fields, but we're putting once we got into the end zone, we were four for four. Right? And that was the biggest thing for us, right? And being able to score once we got into the red zone. I mean, that was a big big test to me. Us being able to come back was touchdown. So I'll say that now speaking of touchdowns, you have eight receiving touchdowns already this season, you know, crushing your previous career high by quite a bit. And you still got, you know, a third of the season left to go. What is it about the red zone, you know, where you're feeling confident, Cody, obviously, trust you in that area. What has led to to you being, you know, only the two Montreal guys are ahead of you as far as touchdown receptions go this year.

I'm so sorry. And you can hear me. So make try to call me. Oh, yeah, no problem. Yeah, I can hear you. Yeah. Um, it's all right. And question about red zone. Yeah, no, just about you and your touchdowns. You got eight touchdown receptions this year. You know, you're killing it for a personal high third most in the league right now. Is it just a chemistry factor? Obviously, I'm assuming there's some confidence of between you and Cody, but when you get into that red zone to say, okay, I can just beat guys now. What's led to the success for you having so many receiving touchdowns so far? I mean, I got to really give it to Jordan. I think, um, you know, big, big, big, uh, big reason to our success. Cody success, my success ranks just the whole team, you know, is Jordan just putting this in good positions, great positions, be able to execute at a high level. Um, you know, Cody's and I relationship is always going to be what it is. It's going to be great. And especially when we're out there being able to throw the pixie in around, but Jordan puts us into great positions and he's been calling it really, really good, good situations for us and it's been able to work out and, um, man, just also just really blessed and thankful for, for

health and being able to be on the field. No, you know, that's, that's come, right? That's just come as you continue to play the game with football, but we're winning football games and that's all that matters, you know what I mean? So the, uh, the stadium at, uh, at McMahon, it seems more crowned than some of the other fields, Austin and I know you watch some of the passes and it looks like it's, you know, guys higher or lower. Um, is it different for you as a receiver when you're running routes? Uh, there was a little, there's actually a pretty significant so, um, you know, we actually didn't need to practice and run through a lot of outbreaking routes. Um, you know, I don't really notice it too much. I think it was, it's more on the quarterback because where they sit, they sit higher than us, especially being a receiver are wide. So, um, you know, for him, especially, you know, some things just kind of kept sailing and, and also weather, but, um, I'm not a quarterback. I didn't, uh, I don't care. I gotta be in the right spot at the right time. So, you know, I knew that stuff. I tried to, you know, block out. I don't use it as an

excuse, you know, but, um, I definitely think especially there, there, there is a little slight a couple of inch difference. I was. Going into the rematch, having just played the secondary and the guys that you're going to go up against, um, you know, obviously you watch film, but it's probably fresh in your mind. Okay, I think I could beat this guy here. This guy is susceptible. Is there an advantage? Do you feel as a receiver up against a DB in a rematch? Yeah, I mean, 100%. I mean, they never know what's coming. Um, they, they had the best surprise of playing us the first time, right? It gets more of a surprise seeing a guy for the first time. When you kind of know their tendencies, you got a good feel for them. Same thing when you see, you see the guys you get to go against everything in practice. You kind of already know them, right? So now with things they haven't seen and now get to game plan again, I'm excited. Can't wait. It's going to be a drier day. Um, we, the biggest thing is that team runs to their defensive line. I mean, they got to the best restors and edge restors in the game. Um, that's the problem, right? So as long as we can keep Cody up, keep Cody being able to hit

his fifth step, his seventh step confidently step into the pocket and rip the ball. I feel extremely confident, right? With our, with our ability at the receiver positioning against their DBs, right? So I think they're obviously their matchups up front. So Austin Mac joins us lead and receiver for the Emton Elk. So just shy of a thousand yards already has eight touchdown receptions and they look to a clinch of playoff spot Saturday with the victory over the Calgary stamp. Peter's an Austin, you know, the offense, every now and then you're going to need a spark. And it seemed that your spark came in Powell on that one series. He just kind of got the running game going and everything kind of went after that. And I don't know how much you knew about the guy, but for a small dude, man, he was pretty hard to take down. Um, like I was, I was pretty impressed at just how often he was bouncing off guys. How much did his injection kind of really just kickstart you guys in that game? Man, I mean, Sunday had a great, great first game. I mean, obviously we got to clean up, you know, the punts and kickoff and catching the ball, but that guy is a freak athlete. You

get the ball on his hands, man, and we've seen it. You guys haven't seen it, but we saw it all through camp, right? All through preseason. Um, and that's the product of the CFL. There's really, really talented players that have to stay on practice. Right? Because you got guys like Justin Rankin ahead of them or Javon Leak. And then somebody gets hurt in the CFL season, then you get your opportunity and he got his opportunity. That guy's a really, really dynamic player. And you got to see it. There's a couple, um, especially in the return game. Broke a couple of tackles was able to get us to the midfield towards the end of the game. I mean, huge, huge, absolutely huge plays, right? And especially on that one time, um, we're, we were mentioning he came in and obviously got our run game going. I mean, the guy's electric, and it's all about, man, how can we just get the ball on his hands? Right? So, um, excited for him to keep building, you know, um, and for any of the, you know, you got his first touch out to him, the CFL, which is awesome as a professional. So it's just, it's super exciting to see guys like that just come in, you know, grafts those moments, be ready for the moment and, and be able to shine a little bit. So, um, side of size of the limit for that kid, for sure. Now, what about his block

on the one play now? When you guys are in film, we're like, this are the coaches highlighting that, like, you know, the little guy there with a massive block. Yes. Massive block. I think it was the, number eight or something came crashing through the a graph and he, yeah, it was, um, yeah, man, I mean, that's hard. That's this team, though. There's no egos, right? When you think about the type of people that are going to put their, their bodies out for each other is for each other. And that is, that's championship DNA, you know, and we all want to buy up, you know, we all care about each other. We all want to play for each other. And when you have that cross the board, I mean, it's just so good to see. It's so good to see. We're all bought in. Um, the guy that just came in for the first time has watched Devon and ranked do it all year, come in and be ready for that. Well, I mean, it's just great to see, right? Like that's who this team is. And so, we've got to keep, keep obviously stacking it up, right? That, you know, for us, it's, it's first quarter for us is obviously first down efficiency. Right. You know, if we can get to second and medium and stop freaking getting penalties and being a second and 20 second and 16 second and

11, we're being a lot, a lot better situation. When those four defense aligns, they can strap their chain straps and they're like, Oh, this is past. Let's go. Right. It puts us in a hard position. So I think obviously we clean that up. I'm ready for this freaking rematch. They say, I don't know about you, dude. I'm freaking ready. You're going to be hyped up talking about this stuff, man. I like it. Um, well, I know that you guys were actually six for six when you were on second and medium. Um, second, you guys were second and long 16 times and 11 of them were, were 10 yards or more, right? And that's just, it's a tough situation, right? So, when you look at, you know, you talked about the penalties early on and then just first down efficiency is as one of the leaders, where do you feel? How do you guys get there on a more consistent basis, right? Like every team and tell your perfect, that's what you want to prove. And that maybe is the small areas. It's not costing you points. You're still scored 38. But how, how do you feel or what has to happen for your group to be better on first down efficiency? Yeah. And I'll give you the message that came from the top down, right? Jordan, Jordan said

to himself, number one, he has to put us in better positions. He mentioned to himself, right? And that starts with us just doing our job. We don't got to be Superman. We just got to do our job. Get to second and medium, get the first down, whatever it takes, but ultimately being in, right? There's a few things that give us a few wrinkles this week. We weren't ready. Now we're ready for it. The biggest thing is obviously put us in a better position and two, we just got to execute at a high level. Do our job. Just do your job and it shouldn't take a whole half to stop for us to start doing our jobs. You know what I mean? Jason, we should be able to play four quarters of football. We've probably only played three quarters and a half, maybe three and a half, you know, three and a half of full offensive football, right? If we could play four quarters, Jason, we'd be blowing people out 50 points, 50 plus points. And like, that's how good we are. Right? So the one thing I've noticed this year, that's a little different. And maybe it's because there's more scoring, but I've noticed teams on the coin flip when they win, they used to always defer a lot of your games. They're taking the ball early on in there. And I want that ball. I know about you.

I want that ball. Yeah. So and that's and I like that because everyone's all you defer, you get in the second half. I'm like, yeah, but whatever I want to get up on them early, right? Is so if you guys win the toss, are you taking the ball now two more? Yeah. We're taking a bit. Yeah. We're trying to take the ball. The biggest thing. I mean, it's attitude, it's mentality. I mean, you know, I think we started that off weeks, it's three of the season, we're in Winnipeg. We won the toss. We took it, went down a score. And I think ever since we did that, we're just like, no, we're telling me get the ball. We get the opportunity to take the ball. We're taking it. We want to go out and really our first 12 plays are intro, like our opening plays are a script that should be, hey, we're going to go put this in the end zone. And that's how it's been. So I think, I think we're going to get back into the string of things this week. I think George is going to have a really, really good position here to start this game off fast. Austin Mack joins us and you guys had some great starts. Obviously, the last two not where you want, but the finishes were unbelievable. And you get the wins and now you're in a position to, I know at the start of the year, your team, I think it was the first or second day training camp coach, kill him outline what your goals were

as a team. And one of those goals was to make the playoffs. Well, you get a win on Saturday. And that's step one, right? Is is to qualify for the postseason. You're into the, the final third of the season. You know, it's a best year in Edmonton in a long time. And I know it's your first year. She's like, hey, this should be this way all the time. But I really sense that your group believes you're good. Yet you're not satisfied. And you still feel there's more to give as your team. How do you reach that next level? I think it's, it's on the leaders now to take some of these young guys around the arm, you know, and really help them get to that next level, right? I think there's just little details that a vet might be able to do unconsciously, but we might not be doing consciously if we're a younger player. I think that's the thing that we just need to do. Starts with leadership. And I think as we get into this last bit of the season, I think more more time spent in this, this building here and more time of us being around each other.

And us, we've gone through situations where we've got adversity. We've been down 20 points. We're looking at like easy way. We could just turn down, put our tails between our legs, walk tongue, five of the blessed boys, like, you know, we could easily have done that. But I'm not a resilience that we've shown. Now it's just about, okay, we'll start that from the beginning. And let's keep that same mentality throughout the rest of the rest of the game. And I think it's just on our leadership. And we're starting to make sure that we do that. Have that mentality across the board. And man, I just hope more than anything that, you know, the city's excited. You know, like for me, all I've known is playoff football on the CFO. You know, this is my four of the year. I've been to the two great cups in three. So I'm expecting nothing other than a great cup. Right? So I'm hoping, I'm hoping, you know, we have another big big crowd out this weekend. And we just continue to keep taking that one step. We know we haven't played perfect. Right? So that's always the goal. It's never, it's never always perfection. Right? But that's always what we want to strive for. How can we continue to keep taking that step? And, you know, we're actively doing that. Right? Nobody's asking

us about red zone lately. So that's been good. You know, I mean, Jason. Four for four last games. I can't get much better than that. One last one for 14. I think 14 for 16 or something in the last four games. I don't know. Cracking for wrong. You might know. No, I think you're right. That's pretty good number. It's it's obviously an area that they said they want to improve. And you guys have definitely done it. So something tells me if you now you want to improve your first down efficiency, you're probably going to improve that. Joe Robustelli, yeah, waited a long time to make his debut for the green and gold with some injuries. We had Joe on the show last week. And he told us his story like when you were in Montreal, Austin as a rookie, he was like that's the first time the guy played football really. It's a wild story, man. Like you're a receiver like to see what this guy did in that short period of time, you know, 26 years of age to go play div two college. He had a half a semester left. Like what do you make of that? And what do you think Robustelli is going to add to your receiving court nowadays, healthy? I think his story is amazing. I keep telling him all the time to tell your story more often. You know, I mean, but that's the it's the

greatest thing about football. It doesn't matter where you come who you are. You know, if you if you you're a good football player, they're going to find you. And that's exactly what happened with Joe. Now, Joseph, that Joe's played in big games. He knows the CFO game. He knows the nuances. He's a physical big receiver. He's going to help our run game like crazy. He's going to make big plays. Yeah, he might have had a couple of knock downs last game. This is first game. He's going to walk him. He's going to clean that shit up. Y'all. He's going to be a freaking menace. This guy is really, really good. Super excited that he's been able to get into the lineup. Now it's just about him being a problem. Stay healthy. Man, you're going to feel shitty. All right. All right. Let's get this workout in. Let's get back to it. We've got another week. And now it's about him to continue still building, right? I'm going to have what five-ish games to finish the season. Get with us to the playoff run here. Excited form. He's a hell of a player, man. We really needed them when TJ went down and I know he's going to step up and be even better. So it's good to have you on the show, man. We appreciate it. And continue to success. Enjoy the rematch on Saturday. It's

trending. Like it's going to be a crowd above 30,000 again, maybe even higher. So what we look for to that, man, as always, great to have you on the show. Appreciate you, Jason. Thank you for having me. God bless you. You betcha. There you go. That's Austin Mac. Leading receiver for the green and gold. He has fifth in the league in receiving yards with 925 third in touchdown receptions with eight. And the red zone offense has not been a problem for the green and gold the last few games. They've cleaned it up. And you know, Mark Killam talked about it today when I spoke to him. Cody Fajardo talked about it. It just heard Austin Mac. A man first down efficiency. We got to be better. Cody had like the whole breakdown of how often, you know, they put themselves in a tough spot. What a second 11 second and 15 second and 16 like it's, it's difficult because the, the, the opposition knows your pass in the ball. And the D line, and they're like, we can just go guns ablazing right after them and their D line is good. Like really good. Joe Cooper, who's going to start for Murray, who's injured. And probably like that's, I can't think of a tougher

first game than going up against the two Russians and Calgary. So well, I'm curious to see kind of what they do to maybe help out Cooper in his first start at right tackle tomorrow. 8 3 3 4 1 14 48 3 4 1 14 40. We will take a quick break. Ooh, thirsty Thursday. Some unique ops. I can say it. Some stuff I've never seen before. So I'll be interested to see what we got in story. I also got T. R coming up later on are going to go to Montreal. We got Farhan Lollge, SPAC, busy show a little bit more on the, on the orders. We'll hear from Leon Dry settle as well. It's a Gregor show presented by play Alberta. That's you day afternoon. Welcome back. Gregor Halley. Declan Cougar with you sports 14 40 sports 14 40. Yeah. Hey, be sure to give a thumbs up. Talk the demon. Ask him about Drake me. Did he just get frustrated? Get impatient. Get the, the YouTube chat going. And of course tonight you got the, the Rams and the 49ers from Melbourne, Australia today. Well tonight, I guess six 20-ish will be kick off tonight.

Light day in the majors baseball. That is as lots of teams traveling. There's only five games. The Mariners, the one game that I guess impacts the Jays. Currently no score in the top of the third. They're in Seattle. And that's the, the, the Astros did win over the Phillies. And that one kind of matters because if the Jays make the playoffs, that's likely they're either taken on the Astros or the Rangers. And if the Rangers lose today, then there'll be a three back of the Astros with the 15 games remaining. And it's really come down to Cleveland, who's in the wall card spot. Jays are game back right now. The Rangers currently game and half might be one could be two, depending on what they do. And Baltimore is three back. And that's who the Jays play starting tomorrow. You got to win that series two to one. If you sweep Unreal, but you got to win two out of three against Baltimore. Now, it's Thursday Thursday brought to you by sure Brooke liquor to locations.

So side on 50th Street, 92nd Avenue. And of course, the original locations, St. Albert Trail and 118th Avenue, best selection in town. If you're looking for beers anywhere around the world, cocktails, wine, they got it all and a wonderful selection of non-alcoholic beverages. As David Owens from sure Brooke joins us in studio once again, David, how you doing? No, fantastic. Yeah, amazing. Nice. Brilliant day. It is. Yeah, it's good day. It's good day. So what are we got going here today? Yeah, so we're doing so we haven't done like non-alcoholic for a while. So we're like, it's just a monotone. We got this really cool new brand that's coming here. And so we're just focusing on this one brand today. They're out of Beamsville, Ontario, sort of the Niagara, you know, wine region there. And these aren't trying to imitate booze, which is really awesome. They are they're absolutely just built on real flavors for from real ingredients, you know, and traditional beverage ideas just with fruit, spices, herbs, and things like that. Okay. So this this family, this guy put this together. He started it was really

Sky Andres and he's got Mexican roots and experience doing craft beer and things like that. So he as wife was pregnant and with a lack of options and so on, he set out to make something. So the first thing he started to make was actually this Trapace, which we're going to have a little bit. But but the idea was in the philosophy of this company is if they can't hold the ingredient in their hands, it doesn't go in their drinks. So everything is really there are no they don't use any extracts, essences, fruit concentrates, everything. It's whole fruit, peels, herbs, flowers, spices, and using techniques like, you know, steeping and maceration and cold pressing and so on together. So basically it's if it's it's it's it's pretty fantastic good stuff for you. So and they're also made to go with with booze if you want to make a booze, boozey option. Sure. So we're going to start off the first one here. This is a Habiscus mocktail. So just simple easy gateway into it. So this is their their take on the companies called Casapiniata. I don't know if it said that yet or not. But it's their take on the alga de Jamaica. So it's

just traditional Mexican Habiscus drink. And so you're getting whole dried Habiscus flowers, fresh ginger, using the gava for the sweetener in there. So you get that deep red color and that's all from Habiscus from the flower itself. You don't want to like about it. Like it's it's got it's very crisp, but there's no sweetness. I don't like drink it on the sweet. Yeah. And I find some of the known alcoholic ones. There's like a real sweet taste to it. There's nothing it's not tart at all. It's just like very this is and this is really good. This is kind of it's got a little bit of mild tartness off the beginning of it there. But it still has a bit of that floral has an earthy character to it and so on. So in that little with a spicy ginger finish to it. I like the deep red too. And the deep red. Yeah. Fabulous color. So serving it cold over ice. You know, the lime garnish would work awesome in this. And if you want to make a boozy, put some gin in there. Oh God. Yes. Right. Yes. Like like baggages just and you got a really trick easy made cocktail supernatural for well. I like the fact that yeah, if you mix it, it's so the ingredients are filtered water Habiscus flowers. Organic blue aguave syrup,

ginger, citric acid, carbon dioxide. So that's it. And it's got like 13 grams of sugar. So for the calories. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So now you got a poloma. All right. We get the poloma, right? This is this is risky. This is familiar. That's a familiar name though. But it's you know, the grapefruit, the grapefruit plus grapefruit peel lime juice, lime peel in here. So they do everything. So they hand peel everything. They steep all the peels separately to capture all those oils and the bitterness to it. They got some fresh rosemary in here, some Himalayan pink salt. And again, just the goddess syrup. That you know what? You can really taste the Himalayan pink salt like just I really like I like Himalayan pink salt. But I can taste the right off the bat. Right in there. That's such a great. And that salt is such a great addition to tequila beverages things like that. So this is a you know, the poloma is the most popular cocktail in Mexico. So and it's ahead of the margarita, I believe it or not. But this is it. So serve with a you know,

grapefruit or lime half salt to rim if you wanted to. And if you want to make a booze, you just add tequila and mezcal to it and you're good to go. And it's like, I know what? It says carbon dioxide, but it's not very carbonated at all. No, no, it's just a nice and they're just like nice tight bubbles to it, right? But you're not going to feel gassy from it or get that bloated feeling at all. Because I think for people who have you know, used to drink and now they're like, you know what? I'm just not drinking alcohol anymore. Yeah. It's hard to find some non alcohol drinks that actually have good flavor that either don't taste like they're fake. Absolutely. Or don't taste too sweet or too sweet. Yeah. So far too for two, man. Yeah. These are top notch. So this is the next one. This is a Tupacchi. This is a new one for me. I've never heard of this before. But this is sort of their centerpiece of it. This is their only bottled one at the moment. So it's the Tupacchi. It's a pre-Columbian Mexican beverage traditionally made from pineapple, peel on, peel on silo or silo and spices is implemented for several days. So this is a non-alcohol version and they use real pineapple. The peel on silo cinnamon sticks, cloves and some arbol

a chili in there. Dude, it's got quite the aroma to it. Oh man. That's like, that's almost like your best. It's almost like a tea beverage, right? Oh. Yeah. Settle dried to the chili finish to have some of that warm baking spice in there. Yeah, it's quite, it does have a dried, it's, yeah, it's very dry actually. Super flavorful. Lots of flavors. Lots of flavors. And, for anyone saying, there's a bouquet of flavors. You know, and I liked the pineapple, pineapple isn't, it's not over the top in it either. You don't get that crazy, it's got a little hot aftertaste. Yeah, that's that chili just right? Yeah. They finish on it. But it comes in a little bit later on. Yeah. So yeah, if you like a little, if you like it, that's not super hot. Like trust me, I'm a pansy when it comes to hot food. That's right. It's just got a little bit of warmth to it. Yeah. Yeah. And the peel on, the peel on silo are maybe butchering the name of that pronunciation. But it's essentially it's an unrefined Mexican sugar, you know, cane sugar, with sort of that natural molasses like

a character to it. So imagine this. It's got cinnamon in it too, actually. Yeah. So imagine this with just an aged rum or again tequila or mezcal. Yeah. And you got a fabulous cocktail with that. Yeah, that's like, you know, really great, great product. Again, super clean. Lovely. Now we've got the strawberry shrub. Okay. Yeah. So now we're moving into the shrub. So these are, this is when we started drinking vinegar. So apple cider vinegar, yeah. Yeah. A shrub is essentially a drinking vinegar. So historically, the shrubs, yeah, there it's a way of preserving and combining fruit sugar and vinegar before refrigeration. And so that acidity is used in these adult non-alcoholic drinks. Really? Because it's by the structure and that bite to it that might otherwise come from alcohol and so on. So this first one is the strawberry shell. It does not smell like strawberry dude. Right? Yeah. It does not. But it smells kind of sour. But it's real strawberry. Apple cider vinegar, agave, and some fresh mint. You really smell the vinegar. They don't taste it as much, but you smell it.

For sure. But that strawberry, that real strawberry flavor comes through. Yeah, you don't smell the strawberry really at all, but the flavor comes through. Yeah. Yeah, it tastes better than it smells. I'll say that because vinegar obviously is not the greatest aroma. Yeah. But yeah, I agree with that too. But the flavor is wonderful and not. And about this is like gin vodka, you know, like a weight rum with this would be fantastic. Yeah. So these are all non-alcoholic that we're doing today. If you're just joining us and from Casabagnata, a Canadian company. And I like the, you said, if it's anything that's not in your hands is not their ingredients. If you can't put it in your hands, it's not, and it's not natural ingredient, right? So, you know, I think you said, you know, basically if all the ingredients sound like they're you require a lot of coat versus you're not cutting it. Yeah. Like you see all the decks locks the wrong. You're like, oh, okay. Yeah, forget it. Forget it. Okay. Now we've got a mimosa. Mimosa. And all of them are mimosas aren't your favorite thing. Yeah. But these are, this is built with actual natural, the Niagara, Reesling vinegar. And some real orange,

agave, turmeric and cardamom. The smell on this is really quite lovely. I thought. The smell, it's very flowery. Yeah, very flowery. Yeah, it's instead of recreating sort of sparking wine, the Reesling vinegar, it kind of provides some dryness in a city. Well, carrying that floral fruit character along with it. Now that doesn't taste anything like a mimosa that I've had. Because you're used to so many putting orange juice into something and that's it. Well, maybe a little bit. Yeah, probably. Yeah. This is this is really, you know, what I think you put, you know, ad sparking wine to this. Or maybe the most refreshing one. Right. Gint of this. Super refreshing. Like that one's that one on a cold day. I mean, on a hot day with some ice. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Like I'm not a big mimosa, but this one is. This one here. Look at that. So this is brunch without requiring to rate the rest of Sunday off. I mean, sometimes we want to do. I heard about Sunday. That's right. It just gets it going. It's like the end. It's just like the primer. That's right. That's right. You're rolling.

It's not somebody say, you know, they don't go too hard on Fridays or Saturdays. They wait till Sunday. Because if they're going to waste a day feeling like crap, they'd rather get paid for it. They did it on the weekends. Oh, yeah. All their bosses are loving that. That's right. That's right. Nice. And last but not least ginger ginger. Yeah. So this one here fresh ginger root. This is that Niagara Empire apple cider vinegar and rosewood winery honey fresh lime juice and peel. So we're getting again, all local ingredients to it too, too, as well. Right. So interesting. Like that one is probably the least flavorful of all six. Hey, well, it's really, it's just really, really clean. Yeah. Like it. It's more like it's more like a, it's kind of like sparkling. It's like a sparkling water, but with a much better flavor than

a just a regular flavored water. Yeah. But it is. It is definitely clean on that. I think, you know, this would be great because it's that cleverness to it, but that ginger comes through nicely. You know, think of that with a whiskey or a bourbon or a dark rum kind of thing with that. Or even Jim for that matter would be, that's the thing. Jin goes with everything. Jin does seem to go with lots of things. Goes with everything, but yeah, just again, nice clean refreshing. And you know, I like that it's not over the top of the ginger to sometimes some of these ginger things can go really heavy on it. Now does this come in a pack of all different flavors? These are all so one. Oh, they're all so all so solos. Yeah, all single. So and we got them at both locations. All six reveal both locations. Wow. If I had to rank a man that had a viscous in the Paloma and you know what I mean, the most. Yeah, they went for sure. And well, the the tapasha was just very different because of that. It had that. Yeah. The subtle surprise you a little fire totally totally. Yeah, I really like that. That's a, you know, again, and and put some some rum into that. Yeah, that

had viscous. Yeah, that had viscous. That had viscous of gin. I'm going to have to try it. Totally the way you go. Because, you know, it's my job now just to see if it works. Did it, you know, it is your job. Yeah, yeah. You got to be informed about these things. 100%. Yeah, 100% these are work related. Work related. Absolutely. They have great stuff. So it's available this weekend and green and gold. We'll see if they can go right on Saturday. Top notch. What a great, what a great CFL season this year. You know what honestly, this is, all right, this is being the most entertaining CFL season I could think like and not just the else games like I watch a lot of the games around league and it is there's lots of offense. It's high scoring. It's back and forth. Kick returns. You know, teams are teams are, you know, I like the fact like the fact that teams are taking the ball rather than deferring just tells me lots of teams. They they they want their offense to get going. Yeah, right. And that can generate things. And so now, Edmonton, obviously, one of the best defenses that helps them. But you know, like you look at Edmonton, they went that stretch there with a three straight games first drive of the game. Boom, you're up. Yeah. And you know, you put the team behind the eight ball a little bit. Yeah, absolutely. My mom is loving it. She,

my mom watches every single game from every team every week. She's got a notepad beside her. She'll be keep track of everything. She's going to be tired on Saturday. Quadruple Saturday. Oh, no, she's going to be excited. I think they record it. So she'll probably push a couple till Sunday. You know, she's in her 80s. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, I love it though. Yeah, she's the biggest CFL fan out there. I heard my dad. Yeah, they're all watching all. She's got her notepad. I got a notepad. So if you need to do fine, I think about any scores, the piece of the game, the passive you will see is giving them a call notes here. That's right. Yeah, I like mama Owens. What's going on here? I like it. That's right. That's right. That's right. Awesome. Great stuff. Dave. We appreciate him. Have an awesome weekend. There you go. That's David Owens from Sherbrook Licker. You can check it out. Casabinata for those of you that are into the non-alcoholics beverages. Check it out. And hey, if you want, you can always mix it with an alcoholic one, but man, these taste the Hibiscus Palloma and the Mimosa high five.
