Who says that brats have to have skin? Literally everyone. Like since the beginning of time. No, but the fairway skinless brat has changed the game. Will you settle this for us? They don't pick sides. I just sell them. If Frank just steal our brats. Excuse me. Just gonna hop in there. Pardon me. Oh, whoa. Don't even think about it. I like beer and Bud Light. Bud Light, please. So light. There's one. Bud Light. There's one Bud Light, please. Excuse me. Excuse me. Excuse me. Hold my leg. What's this? You team it up? That is crazy. Oh. One Bud Light, please. Two. Two. Anything for the clean, crisp taste of Bud Light. I knew so, Heather. Did you? No. Yeah! Thank you. Yeah, just in this new Buffalo Wild Wings throwback menu, makes me feel like I'm making my way downtown. I walk you fast, faces passing, I'm homebound. Dooly, dooly, dooly.

And now I wonder, cause you know I walk a thousand miles if I could just see you. Tonight, you have a beautiful voice for a quarterback. I don't want. Let's have a committee. This is the committee. Cause you know we're American, we love committees. Let's get us a committee. The definitive podcast on college football. Who should be on the committee? Presented by Bud Light. Well, I don't know this guy's a good guy. Let's have him on the committee. Exclusively on Iowa everywhere. I mean, there's people on the committee that don't even have remote associations with football, nor have they at any level. But you know what? Let's have a morning committee. Why not? Please welcome your hosts. Andrew Downs and Trent Condon. Did you know why just the committee knew better? Better.

The SEC is talking about expelling LSU. Michigan needs a phantom second to beat Western Michigan. Dabbo looks done at Clemson. And it's been eight years. That's 2,923 days since Iowa beat Iowa State in Kinnex Stadium. College football is back. And only the storylines this ridiculous sport can deliver. We are set for week two. This is the committee brought to you by Bud Light and Buffalo Wild Wings. Hello and welcome in. I'm Trent Condon. He's Andrew Downs. We'll be joined by committee members David Ikeold from Hawkeye Insider. Travis Hines from the Des Moines Register. Chris Williams as well as Spencer McLaughlin from Locked On College football. 80, eight years since Iowa beat Iowa State in Kinnex Stadium. We didn't even know each other at the time. A lot has changed since 2018. Wow, that's incredible. You're right. A lot has changed. I'm sitting here trying to figure out what days you're going to count next week. Yeah. Last week it was this many days since the National Championship and this many days until the next one.

Now it's this many days 2000 something since Iowa has won this game inside Kinnex Stadium. I'm trying to figure out what what will next week be on Trent's daily countdown. But yeah, man, it's a fun week, right? It's week one is in the books generally as lopsided as we expected to be with a couple of flashes, a couple of things to talk about here as we move through the week. And then yeah, here in Iowa, baby, it's CYHawk Week. It's ready to go. We're halfway through already. And you know, all the story lines are already talked out. So let's do a little more. Absolutely. We're going to hit, of course, college football as a wide-ranging topic today. Here on the committee, we'll bring in some committee members throughout. We're going to have that Hawkeye Roundtable as we'll also be joined by Travis signs and David Ikeholt at the same time. So we'll see if we can keep those two guys in check when we get to them a little bit later on. But the biggest national story from over the weekend was not the domination from Iowa and Iowa state as they cruise into easy victories and what turned out to be glorified scrimmages. It was late on NBC on Saturday night.

The extra second that was added to the clock was there an extra second. It's also Michigan. That adds another layer to the story. They felt like they were screwed by the big 10 and the NCAA and now they get this Phantom second back. It has been back and forth. The Mac has responded. There are people saying Michigan should just forfeit the game. It's crazy. It's all over the place. This is a reason the way D. I absolutely love this work. We don't get this in the NFL. We don't get this major league baseball. We only get it in college football. Yeah, exactly. The end part of it is because of this weird disjointed governing body or lack of thereof that we have in this sport. If the NFL had to step in and make a call, they would. The NCAA doesn't have that power and the big 10s doesn't really want to. It will be interesting to see what this impacts, how this impacts the rest of the season for Michigan. Certainly. How they're ranked. We saw them fall out of the rankings. I don't think that was simply because of how they played. I think that was a lot of these voters want to punish them for having won that game.

It'll be interesting to see. I saw the big 10 came out today and said, hey, we are now going to have live audio and video of this replay booth that we have. You know, that broadcast can go to in the moment because the transparency is important. Chris Williams put out a great video from the RV lot up outside Jack Tristadium Saturday night. This is all kind of unfolded of. Hey man, transparency is what is needed right now. The fact that it took several hours for the big 10 to put out that video that they claim, you know, exonerates them from any wrongdoing and gives Michigan that extra second, which ultimately gave Michigan the win. That kid that took several hours to come out. It was just it was so murky and muddy. You don't get a chance to talk to the officials. There may be a pool reporter, but even even that the officials don't have to take questions and defend themselves. And maybe they shouldn't. That's a conversation we could have, but the lack of transparency is what then creates this chaos, these conspiracy theories. But ultimately, yeah, some talking points and some fun conversations, especially early in a season where there's not a lot of games to really look back on.

It's hey, there's something fun to talk about. And with all the blowouts that we saw in week one, it was actually a compelling game. I mean, you talk about NBC getting an absolute home run. They thought this thing was going to be 47 to seven. It turns out to be that one. And it's interesting to see what kind of TV numbers that's going to do because there just wasn't a whole lot going on. LSU was blowing out Clemson at the same time. That was the other kind of big national game that was happening in the evening. And speaking of that, LSU, they've had a week of their own. And finally, they came up with our 105 man roster. They added the two injured players that aren't going to play this year. So there will be no spots for the NFL players to come back. But there is still at least a last I saw a scheduled meeting with the SEC power brokers. They're still talking about expelling LSU, which I got a theory about this. I want to run by you here in just a moment. But again, this sport, this conference with the SEC, the power that they wield in LSU with Lane Kiff and just the differences. Another layer upon this of Lane trying to do his own thing, the halftime interview.

Imagine if we had a couple of pros on our team. I mean, it's just Lane being Lane, which is so great on top of it. You get that component to it. I think this is a whole lot of grandstanding in the grand scheme of things. There's no way they're actually going to kick out LSU. This is why I'm glad we're having spent some agglot flint on a little bit later because there's a part of me that this is all. It's all kind of over my head. I don't really understand what's the end game here for LSU. What's the end game for the SEC is this even possible? And if it is like, what's the mechanism for this? How would it actually work? What would it look like? Does it doesn't even matter? It is wild though because the SEC has been this like intact conference, right? And regardless of what happens in the other conferences, regardless of what the expansion is, the SEC is like a fist, right? And they come together. And Lake Giff has been in the SEC for a while, but a few months in LSU. And he's starting to break that fist up a little bit. And there are starting to be some cracks in the armor there down in the southeastern conference. And so it's really interesting to see them kind of eat themselves over this and see, you know,

see Greg Sankey call out one of his own member schools, which is something like he just doesn't do. And so it's that it's been fun. But the whole thing, honestly, it's like what what is happening? Like I saw that headline was yesterday or Monday, whenever it came out. It's like is that that's a thing you can end up. Of course, right? I guess you can expel teams. If you can expand the conference, you can, you know, lessen it. But the whole thing is just bizarre. The timing of it is weird. It's it's wild. Can I jump in really quick on that? Yeah, go ahead, CW committee, baby. Well, because we kind of almost got to that point with the big 12 in Texas Tech with this source be deal. I don't know if they ever were like threatening to kick them out because Cody Campbell could buy the league. But that was like a real talker in the back because some of these 80s and presidents were saying, well, we're not going to play them. And then remember the big 10 thing like they were going to schedule them and all that stuff. But I know that was part of what some of the background conversations in that league word that if we let this guy play,

what does it do to the rest of the league, right? And so it's all it's weird because it's like the second time this season that we've seen a league basically go to that except the big 12 didn't have to get that far because tech kind of just back down from it and all those things happen. But you're right. I kind of forgotten like didn't Nebraska come out and say like we will not schedule Texas Tech in anything moving forward. But these feel like kind of unintended consequences of this changing landscape of college football. You know, we knew that the experience and it was going to make some things different and pain players was going to make some things different. But like they're I think you could draw a line from yeah, multiple conferences essentially threatening to expel teams from their league on the eve of college football. You know, right to this kind of ever changing experience. And again, a lack of a governing body in the NCAA. The thing too that I don't I don't really get is I don't have you guys watched it all the tech thing on Paramount.

I have not no it's kind of interesting like I mean it's total propaganda but it. The these people have no idea why every I think they do but like you know like you can convince yourself and you start to believe your own lie like that type of thing. These tech people are so and I think LSU's kind of same way where I think in their mind they're like well you know where it is playing by the you know nobody had shut that door so we're just trying and you got to realize too it's down south like the different deal than what we're dealing with up here and like it's very much up. You know they're kind of renegades down there right like I always compare it to the NASCAR world where I come from like if you ain't cheating you ain't trying right like if the if the tech people don't stop you then you're not doing your job is the crew chief right and I think that's how they kind of view it so just. Super interesting to and then you would you comp the SEC and what they are.

Whatever that is and then now you've got these like rich big 10 schools that can pay the players more and they're a little more sophisticated up north I I couldn't agree more trend it's why we love the sport it's absolutely wild I have a little inside into LSU my grade uncle is actually the wrestling coach there back in the 70s and 80s so. So and then after they dispeated wrestling in the SEC he stayed in Baton Rouge and just go chiseled wrestling and went back to be in a teacher but so I got some insight into that and just it is such a different place one thing that you brought up you mentioned Sankey 80. This didn't happen under Mike's life Mike's live would not allow this and that's something he would say every single time is we're going to go into this meeting we're going to fight and we're going to come out with a consensus even if it's not a consensus it's going to be a consensus every time we come out of that meeting room. You do wonder about the leadership a little bit because also remember before slide got there 80 when we're growing up SEC football it was not the thing it's certainly not the thing that it morphed into over the last 20 years in the domination out of that league you had what the big defense alignment that Tennessee and Alabama or after and then you had subpoenas and he showed up at SEC media day and Phil former he gets he gets a paper serve to him I mean that that's what it was because they were all against each other and it feels like maybe it's not going to be a big deal.

And it feels like maybe that is starting to happen again and we know that the SEC they can eat their own if they allow that to happen I do wonder if they do have a Sankey problem but the other part about LSU that's so crazy is because when you look at that state university in Baton Rouge at the state capital and how many times do we see the governor butting into affairs could you imagine Kim Reynolds in our state time in and time out a new coach coming in a change in the athletic department whatever it is and I L deals and our governor talking about that. I mean he would just be absolutely so different than what we used to but that is the reality with LSU it is different than any public institution that I can think of in the country. We throw in the fact that they want to spend their money on athletics and they will do anything even as a state is struggling that's what you happen on that front it is a compelling thing on top of it and now the football game. It looks like Lies got a team doesn't he yeah does that's the other thing is like he's got a team that's going to run rough shot through this league and you know it's potentially a national championship contender with or without NFL players on it right and so he's a hell of a coach he's he's going to say things that make other people uncomfortable.

Chris Williams made the point on I think it was two guys last week of hey like him or hate him he makes this sport more entertaining he makes this sport better as a fan and it's interesting the SEC didn't have that kind of united front as you said go into a room fight amongst yourselves and come out with a single talking point that's not the case right now in a big part of that is link if and. Three straight national champions for the big ten and maybe that is leading to some of these fractures and the frustrations in the SEC it is the committee here we're sponsored by Bud Light 80 it got my cold fresh one here I'd open it before we started though I love the sound of the cracking of the Bud Light but had to have it a little bit earlier because it's just so good so I'm going to be sipping on this as we welcome in a couple of our committee members it is Si Hawk week so let's go local now we got David Ike cold joining us along with Travis signs taking the Hawkeye and the cyclone perspective. As both those guys on the beat guys welcome into the committee thanks for joining us and I know for all of us a very busy week.

Yeah thanks for having me you know it's crazy is the fact that I'm the only one not wearing a hat and I think every time Trent Nange AD have seen me in public like I'm always wearing a hat. I don't know what kind of I don't know what kind of dimension were in but I appreciate you guys having me. Well I'm we are excited about this and getting into this match up here we got a glimpse of both of the teams I said earlier it turned in for both teams really in the second half of like glorified scrimmages out there. Travis let's start with you the unknown 83 new players on this roster we wanted at least to get a baseline of them in that first game against Southeast Missouri state. Do you feel like you got that baseline at minimum? Yeah I think we've at least established that the floor is not going to be miserable this year right like this is going to be a real competent big 12 team and when you have 83 new players a coaching staff for the most part that has not coached at the power for level I think there was a little bit of a concern of like is this team going to be able to match up or at least look competent weekend and week out and I think the way that they played like there's still going to be lots of questions of what they look like against Iowa or the other.

I was the rest of the big 12 but I do think like the way that they were able to handle their business when 38 to 10 alleviated some of the fears at the worst case scenarios here which are pretty bad when you bring in 83 new players most from lower divisions including all the way down the division to is probably not realistic now like this is they put together and again like the 83 newcomers all from lower divisions I think they still did a pretty good job given the amount of money they had and the timing of it of putting a roster together. They did about as well as I think you could have hoped if you're an Iowa State fan and you saw the way it came together on Saturday that's encouraging that you know I think you feel good about being able to at least compete going forward. Yeah it looked like a well it looked like a well coach team right like it looked like hey Jimmy Rogers has has something going on here obviously he's done he did this a year ago right he had to rebuild an entire program a year ago and so he kind of knows what he's doing I was surprised at how kind of cohesive that is. Cohesive that team looked on Saturday yeah like I get that this sounds like damning with faint praise but like the reality is is that they've got a division two guys starting at left guard they've got a guy from African at right tackle like things could look really bad and they look very competent very professional now like are they going to be able to handle the physicality of an Iowa or the rest of the big 12 like that's something we still don't know like it that still could be very difficult for them but again.

In this you know I how many times we said unprecedented in the last couple years but in an unprecedented situation you have to fear unprecedented you know lows and I think I if you're an Iowa State fan I think you feel pretty comfortable that this is not going to be a one in 11 a two in 10 type season like you're going to have a team that's going to compete. What that ultimately looks like for the next 11 games will see but I do think they alleviated some of the the nightmare scenarios. David on the Iowa side Northern Illinois boy I knew their overrunner was not very high I think it was three and a half they're making the transition the mountain west that team stunk and it's hard for me to take a whole lot away from the Iowa perspective because that was a bad husky team. I mean I'm with you I mean I'd love to see Seema when Northern Illinois play because they're probably be a couple football game right I think you can only take a couple of tangible things away I think I'm so you know you still have to be worried about the quarterback play but it's not deep. He'll be a great but it's not deep and hill level like it's not deep and hill came back to me I don't think I was ever going to go back to that as long as Tim Lester remains the offensive coordinator obviously loved kill winter I think making his start he looked competent he looks strong I think you can take some things away from that I think you want to put Evan James at

the start but the biggest takeaway for me was the fact that the defense really never missed a beat despite how bad that offense was I mean with all those newcomers you know they looked very competent I mean Northern Illinois didn't get a first down so I think the 430 mark in the third quarter and their second firstown came on a pass was probably questionable at best. I thought it was pretty overthrow. I think a lot of people in the press box did as well. But I look at things conceptually in what Iowa's trying to do, because I'm still worried about Iowa's defensive line. I'm sure we're gonna get there and how they can kind of match up against Iowa states. But Iowa implementing that 335 in their defense is something you can take away. You know, Phil Parker, he always has a rinkler too that he'll throw in there. I remember a few years ago they had the radar package, right? They put David on Nick's on the outside, but AJ had a nice on the inside. They did a couple little creative things with that. This is kind of a new wrinkle with an athletic linebacker room and a very young linebacker room. And that Seth Wallace was called the deepest that he's had since he's been in Iowa.

You can kind of now wonder, okay, they provided Iowa state different look. How much are they gonna prep for that versus, you know, prepping for two quarterbacks? There's a lot of different wrinkles they showed just enough that Jimmy Rogers and Iowa state are gonna have to look at. But as far as an overall takeaway, I don't think you want to get too high or too low because I'll tell you what, if Northern Illinois wins more than two games, I'm gonna be pretty surprised. I feel pretty comfortable saying that they're probably the worst team. I've seen Iowa play since I started covering the team in 2018. They even worse than that UMass team. I think they would compete with them. David, the quarterbacks themselves, Kirk Farens are telling us they don't maybe don't know exactly what the plan is gonna be. If it's gonna be the same that we saw against Northern Illinois where Hank Brown comes out, gets two or three series, then hecklensky comes in and they kind of go back and forth. What do you think is going to happen? What do you think should happen when it comes to the quarterbacks and how much of the game they play Saturday night? Yeah, it's something I spent a lot of time thinking about because if you talk about a truly fair competition when she won a third Jeremy Hecklensky

to see how he would respond with the scripted plays and a competent running game because look, Hank Brown converted eight of his first nine throws, 97 yards, a touch shot. Every Iowa fan in the history of existence would have signed up for that, right? Given the abysmal quarterback play that they've seen. But Hank Brown also struggled once he got off script and of course, Iowa's already up by like 30 at that point so almost really doesn't matter. But if it's truly a 50-50 competition, you wanna see how Hecklensky starts and if he can get the offense rolling right away rather than he go in there. Now, that's not what I think is going to happen. I think they're gonna rely on Hank Brown, they've already started a game. They're gonna throw him in that comfortable of an environment. I think they're gonna try to get him some early completions early to kind of fill that cup of optimism because we've seen when Hank Brown starts to struggle, it is almost like a domino effect. I think we've seen then every public appearance during his time at Iowa even going back to Auburn. So I think they're gonna do something very similar to last week. He'll get the first two or three series, Jeremy Hecklensky's going to go in there.

Now, I don't think Hank Brown's gonna sit for the second half like you did in the opener. But I think at that point, Kirk and Tim were gonna talk and I think they're gonna ride out the hot hand. It really would not surprise me if they kick the can, which is the starting quarterback in the future, down the road another week and let them compete against Northern Iowa. And I'll tell you, I have my own thoughts about that. A guy making their first true start at the Big House despite Michigan being 0 and 1. I don't care, they're not gonna know in my book. They should've lost that football game. I'm sure you guys will get to that later. I just think that they're gonna ride that hand and I think ultimately, they're gonna continue this thing for another week and a half or so. You gotta love the self-fulfilling prophecy of Kirk Farens. I think Hank Brown looks more like a starting quarterback and then he starts him every game and it's like, oh yeah, I mean see, he looks like a starting quarterback. He's starting every game. Travis, does it matter to Iowa State, which guy comes out, how much they play? I mean, it doesn't, they're so similar and the scheme I think is gonna be pretty similar.

How much is Iowa State even worried about which quarterback is taking the snaps on Saturday night? I mean, I think it works in Iowa States, the Hess that Iowa doesn't really quite know what it wants to do a quarterback and obviously everybody throws around the old madden quote I think of having two quarterbacks you've got none. And I think for the way Iowa State wants to play and again, we've only seen 60 minutes other than Ames but the way they wanna play with that 4-3, 4-2-5, where they really wanna make things difficult on the quarterback with their looking at pre-snap and then the way that they adjust post-snap. If you're only getting half the reps for each quarterback, I think it gets a lot harder to understand, diagnose and then try to dissect the defense there. So I think Iowa State will be perfectly happy to face two different quarterbacks, especially because it's not like they have wildly divergent skill sets. So that's not, I think the game plan remains probably pretty steady in either direction where for Iowa, like can you get enough reps in practice? Can the reps then immediately translate into the game

and what's gonna be a charged atmosphere? I think Iowa State very much welcomes Iowa, trying to figure out its quarterback situation on the fly. Committee joined by David Eichel from Hawkeye Insider along with the Des Moines Registers Travis Hines as we take a look at the Sihock matchup. Travis, one thing jumped out and yes, cyclone fans, I do have cyclone friends in my life. I know that is hard for some of you to believe, but it is true. And every single one of them, when we talked about the game from Saturday, every single one loves seeing the four man front. When he said that playing the four three and the four two five, Travis, I'm sure you saw the exact same thing. There was a beloved defensive coordinator and John, John Hakek, and the way that he changed and revolutionized the way teams had to play offensively in the big 12, but boy, so many people just happy to see the old school four three defense back with the clones. Yeah, I think like the way that the Hakek defense has kind of slipped and it was hard to really pinpoint, was it the scheme or was it just like the incredible rash of injuries that they'd have over the years? Was it the fact that they kind of had a surprise transfer

in MJ Anderson leaving the same year that Will McDonald left for the pros that really kind of, I think, threw off their defensive line development because they hadn't been able to get a sack in a couple of years. So I do think like it was, I don't know if Campbell comes back for year 11, it'd be really interesting to see what Hakek talked to us because they didn't, it wasn't like he was this evangelist for that defense, they kind of stumbled into it in the middle of the year trying to figure out how to win some football games. So I think like the one thing that Campbell and that staff was really good at was looking at what are we doing and do we need to reinvent it. So it would have been interesting to see if they would have came back with the four three, or excuse me, the three man front this year. But now I think with the way that offenses have adjusted to what Iowa State was doing, I think it does make sense to do this four man front and I think it is, it'll be really interesting to see it develop over the course of the year because they really want to be able to use that third line backer spot, that nickel spot as a true hybrid kind of deception option

going forward and I think that'll be, I don't know that it'll make or break the defense, but I do think it will adjust the ceiling and the floor on how well they're able to do that and how they're able to kind of figure out what personnel fits in there. David, we don't, we know about these two teams which isn't a whole lot right now after those first couple of games, but as we sit here on Wednesday night, where do you think Iowa's biggest advantages in this game? Yeah, I think that's actually a really good question. I only have been asked that all week, Adee. I mean, look, I think Iowa State strength is, obviously I think Isaac Thorell, I think is a really good player, had three sacks in that open or seven sacks last year. I think he's obviously going to be circling the scouting report. I'm only going to say Iowa's offensive line because I think it's a top five offensive line to country. And I think if Kale winner continues to show that sort of steadiness that he did in the opener combined with Layton Jones, obviously Kade Beepers, kind of in all American, regardless of where you line him up at. I think the bigger question in that aspect is,

can Camarri Molten handle 25 carriers in this game? Because I think he's going to need to be a guy given what we've seen so far as he needs to run the ball 25 times plus with LJ Phillips out, because I think LJ Phillips would have been really, really valuable in a game like this, right? So I point to him number one, number two, I just think of DJ Venommy, and I think about just the versatility that Tim Lester can kind of utilize him. I think he feel pretty good about Iowa states corners. And again, Iowa's wide receivers, I know I've said about Tony Diaz, you really can't buy stock into them until they play someone other than Northern Illinois's defensive backroom, even though I think, you guys would agree that we think Tony Diaz has a chance to be special. So I would say just the way Iowa utilizes its tight ends, I think they're going to throw a couple of different looks, I think they're going to try to make him more of the part of the game plan. And then Iowa's offensive front, and I'm very curious, that Jimmy Rogers, and that defense, which I do think is a strength to the cycle team, how they try to combat that. But the other side of it too is, if Camarri Molten's playing with that confidence and that level of decisiveness that he showed again,

against Northern Illinois, I think you have to feel really, really strong about the Iowa run game. And if I'm Iowa, you throw a couple of times early, and then you try to run the ball down the throw until Iowa State can stop it. Travis, if it's Saturday night and you and Eugene are doing a podcast about Iowa State's what third win, fourth win in the last five years in this series, what does that game look like? What is Iowa State's path to a victory here? Yeah, I think there's two reasons that that'll be, and they might have to exist simultaneously. I think Iowa State's got to win the turnover margin by multiple turnovers. It's got to be two, three, even maybe beyond that. And or can you get a special team's touchdown? Like I do think Aiden Floor is a really talented punt returner. Can you get a defensive touchdown? Like I think the gap here, and again, we're kind of guessing because we've only seen the Iowa State team for, you know, 60 minutes, I think the gap is too big for them to just go, we're gonna go, you know, do 175 snatch and we're gonna be better than you.

I think that's unrealistic. I think they do have to figure out a way in the cleanest, clearest way is to do it in the turnover battle, right? Like you take care of it on offense, and you'd probably, you know, push the envelope a little bit on defense and trying to generate those turnovers. And I think like there's the obvious aspect of that, but I do think hidden within, if you can win that turnover battle, you're gonna shrink the possession game and then all of a sudden, like having Kyle Conradi, who you, like honestly, they feel good about him from 60 plus, like watching him in warmups. He is banging 60 plus yarders time after time again. Like now all of a sudden, can you win a game with field goals? You know, if you're going possession for possession with Iowa, you're probably not gonna win on field goals, I don't think. But if you're able to win the possession battle and win the time of possession battle, like now all of a sudden, like those three points, I think are more impactful in a lower possession game. So I do think like there's layers to there beyond the obvious of, you know, field position and momentum and everything there, but I do think they're able to really, you know,

flip that a little bit and hold onto the ball, make this a low possession game. I think that could really make things interesting, heading into, you know, the second half and even to the fourth quarter. Travis signs and David Eichel, joining us here on the committee, a couple of committee members, and they'll be back with us throughout the course of the season. Guys, appreciate it. Thanks for hopping on with us here today and we will continue the conversation over at the Des Moines Register and HawkeyeInciter.com. Thanks for your time. Thank you, guys. Thank you. David Eichel and Travis sign. So 80, there it is. And as Travis laid it out, you know what started to pop into my mind right away as he was kind of going through. It was the Jackie game, the 15, 13 walkoff victory. There, there's been a couple of those kind of instances where they ugly it up. And here's the number for you. Kurt Ferrets has been a double digit favorite as Iowa is in this game. Eight different times in this rivalry. They are two and six against a spread. But more importantly, they have lost three of those games

straight up to Iowa State as a double digit favorite. Maybe one of the biggest stains in the Kurt Ferrets resume is his struggles against Iowa State and some bad Iowa State teams. What's the thing that worries you from a Hawkeye perspective going into this game? Because again, we don't know much about Iowa State. They looked pretty good on Saturday, probably better than a lot of people think they were going to, or thought they were going to look. But still, this is a team that doesn't have a lot of chemistry. It can't, right? They just, I think again, I think Jimmy Rogers is going to be a good coach. I think the culture he's going to instill there will be great. They just hasn't been enough time for things like the offensive line to gel or for Jalen Rainer to create a real chemistry with his past catchers for these defensive players to be able to communicate, you know, without verbal communication, throughout the game, make it adjustments on the flag, just things like that, these little things that take time to instill within a program and Iowa's clearly has that with 28 years of Kurt Ferrets.

And so I guess as we go into this Trent, what worries you from a Hawkeye perspective when you look at this Iowa State team? It is just going out there playing old school, line it up, try to run the football 45 times, get out of there with the tight victory and call it good. Try to fight by three. Right, right. This is a game if there is a real change, and if this is Kirk 4.0 or 5.0 or whatever version that we're on, if it's real, go out there right away and let Tim Lester cut. We saw it a year ago in the Rutgers game. We saw it a little bit early on when they went to Tony Diaz right away. All right, there's a concerted effort that they want to get this guy involved because things are going to be different. But we can see it very quickly, a turnover early on from Hank Brown. And then he go to Hank Linsky and he's making some of those silly plays. And then suddenly Kirk goes into his box, goes into his shell and says, well, enough of this. We're going to pound the football. We're going to eke out enough. And let's just try to get out of here with the 17-13 victory because the one major advantage I think in this game is special teams.

And it's not just conradity. Iowa State has two of the best return men in the country in Pedaway and Flora. Those two guys have both shown outstanding. Pedaway led the country in kick returns last year. We saw Flora and Putt returns a season ago. And we don't know the Iowa special teams. Two miss kicks last week. A missed 50 yarder, a missed extra point. Boston Everett. This is going to be a step up for him at the punterspot. We did get to see a kick return back there. As Brevindal was back there for the opening kickoff. And that was the only time Northern Illinois kicked off all game long. Yes, Evan James did it. But it sounds like Van Erzzi still going to be the guy. And how many times have you seen a six foot four Punt returner? He didn't exactly look smooth back there, even as athletic as he is. If it comes down and it is one of those tight games and suddenly you give a huge advantage. Iowa State and special teams, that's how stupid things can happen. I'm just going to throw a little wrinkle out there. I don't think any of us really know what Iowa State is on offense after that first game, right? And the reiner thing, to me, if I were an Iowa fan,

he would make me nervous. And if I'm an Iowa State fan, which I am, I know he makes me nervous. Yeah. Because this guy, I'm telling you, what you saw against Seymour, is not what they're going to do with him. He's not going to sit there in the pot. The only reason they did that is because Seymour and Ninet, they didn't want him to get hit, right? And that game was more about just going out there and letting the lineman play together in reps. And like you said, one of you guys said it earlier, it's impossible to have chemistry when you have 80 new players. You can't. That's what game one was about. And I don't know. I mean, I've studied what role I know what he did in 24 in Ames. And if you watch the Detroit Lions, I mean, that is, and then watch what he did at North Dakota State. That's what they're going to try and do. A real downhill power running game. And then when you do take shots through the air, they're deep, generally. But I, again, he would scare me from both sides.

I just think that's a huge wrinkle in this game. Hassel thinks he's going to throw a pick six. That was Chris's prediction. That's the case. I was winning the game. Like there's no way I was taking come back. I was on with the the cyclone fanatic after Dark Guy's preview in this game. And yeah, one of my big keys to victory for Iowa is make Jalen Rainer beat you through the air. Yeah. Like you don't have to get sacks. You don't even really need to pressure. You need to contain him, right? And if you make him, if he has to drop back 30 times and throw Saturday night, no chance, right? It's over. Whether or not he throws a pick six, he's not going to be able to connect enough because he doesn't have that chemistry yet. It's not because he's not a good quarterback. It's because he doesn't have that chemistry yet. And he's going to make mistakes. Iowa will go to him into mistakes. But as we've seen before, and it's a little different, you know, these narratives get created about Iowa football. And because Kirk Ferris has been there for 28 years, they really don't change even if things have changed, right? The fact that Iowa's a joke offensively, well, they're less of a joke now. And they're not a joke now.

But nationally, that's still, that's a narrative, right? And I think one of the narratives is, Iowa gets gashed by running quarterbacks. And I think that's less true now than maybe it was 10 years ago. But still, the way that the Phil Parker defense works, right? Is it's a base defense. And they anticipate what you're going to do and they make the correct play. And when those plays get broken and all of a sudden, it's not what you planned. And Jalen Raiders out there running around, Iowa doesn't necessarily have a great answer for that. And so if you're able to contain him and make him throw the ball, you got a really good shot to rattle him, especially in that atmosphere. I think that'd be a big thing. The Iowa having 20 plus years of Kirk Ferris and stability and the atmosphere give, in my opinion, that's 10 points. Yeah. 10 points. I just think that that is so hard for a team of Iowa states, where they're at in this new program to come up.

I was wondering this about Rayner. So I looked back at his career at Arkansas State. And last year they played at Arkansas, that's not this level of game. A couple of years ago, they played in the big house. Yeah, the big house. But again, Michigan wasn't playing their eye. And he played in trice, but Michigan was playing a by game in that game. And Arkansas was playing against. Different. It's like, I will play in you and I next week. These games don't have that level of intensity. Night game at Kinnex Stadium in a rivalry game where the Hawkeyes haven't won in that building in eight years. This is an atmosphere that not only Rayner, probably none of these cyclons have ever played in. I actually trust Rayner in that spot more than I do the offensive line. Because Rayner's, he's played a ton. I know he hasn't been in the atmosphere like this, but he's played a lot. And I kind of trust the way that he, just the amount of reps he's got. But it's like five off. They played like, at one point, they had nine offensive linemen in the game at the same time. Against Seymour, these guys just haven't played together.

I saw that photo. I thought it was a, I thought it was not. No, it was real. It was crazy. So, yeah, like, so the other point I was going to make, A.D., is that I was talking with our buddies, Hawkeye Game Film, one of my favorite followers on Twitter. It's a really good smart. You can learn a lot from. And while I think that's 10 to 12 points, whatever, you know, the fair and stuff, and then Iowa State's newness, and then the night game in Kinnick. What's interesting to me though, is just in Hawkeye Game Film pointed this out after he listened to the CW pod. And you guys, if you haven't listened to that, Jeff Wodey and Chad Lysko join me, kind of break down the game. Awesome. Yeah. Really good stuff. Those guys were amazing. One of the more really an unknown SciHawk Game. Like the last seven or eight, you kind of knew exactly what you were going to get. The Heycock Defense. Iowa's got quarterback problems. Iowa's better here.

Like, right, like, you knew what this game was going to be. Now we have one that's 14 points spread. We still don't really know Iowa State, right? Like, I can watch, I know what I'm going to get from their defense because I've seen enough of Bobbitt and Rogers at all these different places. And like, I know schematically what they're going to do. I don't really know anything about the offense. Like, what I, like, you think Flora can play, I think overbees a pretty decent receiver. I think the line is probably below average to average, but I think it can be good once it gets developed. It's not there yet. And I think Rainer is going to be a very dangerous and adequate big 12 quarterback. But at this point, like, I don't know what the scheme truly looks like. And then on the other side, you know, Iowa's kind of just messing around at quarterback. All the sudden we've got this D.S. guy and like, he's super mysterious. Like, this is a, and Iowa doesn't really have a kicker.

So like, there's just a ton of variables in this game. And I think, while I certainly, I'm picking Iowa to win, I think I picked Iowa to win 24 to 13 or 24 14, whatever it was. I think there's a lot of variables that I think it'll be, I do not think this game will be over midway through the third quarter. I think that, I think it'll flip to the fourth quarter and we'll see what happens. But that's kind of my parting though. But it is exciting. I'm just glad that Iowa State was very competent in week one because it made this game more exciting. If Iowa State's out there and beat CMO by six, like this week really sucks. It really will. And this is a one that I think, when you look at the matchup, there is only, it's a pretty specific way that Iowa State has to win this. There's not a bunch of different paths that they can come out and get the victory. The two different 44 41 games, that's not a path for an Iowa State victory in this one. Even with some of the questions that remain for the Iowa defense, that's not the path there. It's ugly.

It's something sloppy, something goofy, a pick six, a defensive touchdown, grandstein getting the ball poked out from behind after interception. You know, all kinds of the weird things that seem to happen from time to time in this game, Jack Campbell getting the interception down on the goal line or the fumble recovery and running that one in when Brock pretty quittin the game. The Bobby catch nothing like that. Right? Yes, yes. The bobble and of course, I didn't bring up the best one after sitting through that delay for three hours. Oh God. Oh, that was so beautiful, C. Don't know. Oh my God. And I'll, I'll just go straight fan here. If there's no delay, I would state wins that came by double. They were just piss pounding Iowa until that delay. Yeah, I would, I don't what happened at the break. Iowa handled the hell lot better than Iowa state did. That was the same game as they think they're so blank and smart over there, right? Don't remember. I think that was the same game because it was the half-back pass. Oh, yeah. I really got the game that they, did they go up 10 nothing I think at that time? Yeah, but regardless. I think it was their first touchdown. That place was on fire too. Like I said was.

And then I was in opposing colors. I did not enjoy. Oh, you were in the stadium. I was. Oh, remember, we were all, it was like, it was such a big day. We had, we had shows out there that it was game day. The Bush light guy was walking around. I forgot about that guy. Yeah, that guy he was wearing the final shirt and everything. Yeah, awesome. All right, guys, have a good rest of your show. Aiden's going to take over for me. I'm going to go put the old kid us to bed, all right? Thanks, buddy. Sounds good. Chris Williams joining us part of the committee here, presented by Bud Light and Buffalo Wild Wings. We're drinking our cold Bud lights here. And of course, Buffalo Wild Wings, a great spot to go. If you don't have tickets for the game, they got you covered there. Also want to mention Mighty M. They got you covered coming up with their tailgate giveaway. Mighty M giving away one lucky fan and ultimate tailgate package. Sign up at iowaeverywhere.com. The winner's going to be announced coming up on two guys on September 14. Again, go to iowaeverywhere.com to get signed up. And what a great, great giveaway here for Mighty M. A lot of great things involved there. A.D. I know you guys have been pumping this one up

a $250 fairway gift card. The speaker, the tent, the cooler, the radiant heater. And you're not going to need it this weekend. But before you know it, we're definitely going to need a couple of those. You know, it was funny. We were in in Kinnick on Saturday. And it was hot. It was a scorcher. And I even said, I was like, you know, in like a month, you could need a winter coat in here. And right now, it's like, it's just as hot as it could possibly be. So it was fun to be there though. We had a good time. It was good to see i would kind of get off to that good start and look good. And now you look around at the rest of the big 10. And certainly that like three game gauntlet that Iowa has to start big 10 play. And again, you don't want to get ahead of yourself. So you don't want to read too much into these early games. But doesn't look as daunting as it did a week ago. You, yeah, we'll talk a little bit about that when we get into it because Michigan, are they going to look that bad? They of course have Oklahoma come to town. Can they look that poor again?

The matchup with Texas in Ohio State. We'll see what the buck guys look like as they come to Kinnick Stadium in a couple of weeks. So we'll get into that. But before let's talk college football as a whole locked on college football, your daily college football podcast joining us right now are committee member Spencer McLaughlin. Spence, good to see you. It was a couple hours ago that we're talking about all things big 10. Now we're going to spread our wings and talk about college football as a whole. Welcome into the committee. Thanks. Great to be out of the guys. Hopefully we don't fly too close to the sun like Icarus. When our wings get out. Look at that to home. Bringing the references is only Spencer McLaughlin. Again. All right, Spence, let's start here. The LSU situation. 80 and I talked about this at the top of the show today. The grandstands. It's like I need some help with this, man. The grandstanding that is there. They're not going to kick them out of the league. But Lane Kiffin pushing the buttons doing things. I brought this up under Mike's live. These things didn't happen. And it's as buttoned up as the SEC probably has ever been with the 15 years when he was the commissioner.

They'd go in, they'd fight, but they would come out and they would be one united front. That's not the case anymore. Under Greg Sankier. Are we seeing some fractures that are happening both at the conference level and these individual team levels as we see the big 10 taking over with the last three national championships? I'm not ready to go there yet because the way that all of this has felt is the pushback isn't coming from Sankier directly so much as it is from the other member institutions. I think that's where the noise has been most prominent and profound over the last couple of weeks when Kiffin first announced that he wanted to add these guys. It's the schools who are getting together and figuring out how many votes do we need to kick LSU out of the league. It's the schools that are pushing back on the idea of adding players that have played a professional, or signed a professional contract, not necessarily played a professional regular season game, but played a preseason game or something like that. That's where the objection seems to have come from. I think Sankier is supportive of it. It feels to me like he's a little more along for the ride

for this one though. I don't think he's losing a grip on the SEC and the governing structure there. I'm sure he wants to be able to enforce his rules for sure and I'm sure he probably even agrees with what the schools are saying, but I think the schools have been the ones mostly at the forefront saying, yeah, we're not OK with this and we're going to float this idea. Even though we're not really serious about it, we're going to let you know, we might be serious about it and let's play a big game of chicken. You know, it's interesting to see this play out. And I don't think this is obviously going to come to the head, but Lane Kifford isn't going away. And he's not going to stop pushing boundaries. He's not going to stop pushing buttons. He's not going to stop going into the press and saying things. It's going to be interesting to see how Lane Kifford. I mean, he's been in the SEC for a few years, but already in just a few months at LSU, he's creating fractures in that league that maybe hadn't been there before. Yeah. And you know what, this is Lane Kifford's ML. He doesn't care what anybody thinks. I'm actually thinking a legitimate way. He's good for college football because he is an agitator.

He's not hurting anybody except the feelings of the fan bases that he ticks off like Ole Miss and Tennessee. So, you know, even that is a good healthy thing for college football because what's the game we're almost excited to watch this year? LSU traveling to Ole Miss. Can't wait, guys. I've had it circled ever since he left and I started looking at the schedules, went wait a minute, wait a minute, before I went on the air to talk about it, I did a septuple take just to be sure that I wasn't getting overly excited. And like, it says, now I looked at the LSU website, I looked at the Ole Miss website, I looked at ESPN, I looked at Yahoo, I went everywhere. I was like, this is in Oxford, it's in Oxford. I saw someone tweeted out and then went, okay, yeah, this is officially in Oxford, not that the other four places were unreliable necessarily, but I mean, we're all excited for it because this day is going to be massive and everyone is going to watch that game. Everyone's going to be dialed into it and I can't wait to be able to see it

because you might need more police presence than you should at a college football game, but down there they say it just means more and that game might be an example. I imagine Lancashan walk in and out of that stadium flanked by probably at least four police officers so they can make a little square like the Secret Service do around the president. So I'd imagine it's going to be pretty intense, but you know what, the football game's going to start and there is going to be plenty of bad blood and are Pete Golding and Lane Kiffin going to shake hands. I think so, but I don't know. I'll tell you what to find out. Yeah, I thought a pre-game beat is going to be an interesting one. Well, the post-game handshake was interesting and in arbor. I thought you always had to sign up for 60, but apparently at 60 in one second, if you're making a way to an arbor, I look at it from the big 10 perspective. Let's say Michigan goes 10 and two. Now they lose and by a couple of scores against Ohio State at the end of the year, they have one other L, they're 10 and two, but what is that going to be for the committee? Selfishly for Iowa. If they beat them in an arbor a couple of weeks and Iowa finishes 10 and two,

but they're battling, say an SEC team for one of those final spots, what kind of negative is that Michigan win, non-win, going to do for other teams in the big 10? How big of a blow do you think this is for the conference, even though officially they are the victor in that game? Yeah. I don't think it's going to wind up being relevant because if Michigan can almost lose the Western Michigan, they're going to lose several other games on their schedule. Now, it might hurt the depth argument in the big 10 for this year, but then again, if they come back, shock the world and beat Oklahoma this week, I mean, you talk about an embarrassing loss for the SEC. Like, wait a minute. You were telling us that we lost the Mac and then you lost with the team that you had in the playoffs last year and thought was going back. So suddenly the pressure shifts in that game because when Michigan, they lost the game to Western Michigan. We all lost it, but to say that they, if they come in and beat Oklahoma, that there's no precedent for it, like literally anywhere.

And so I think that if the SEC goes in and then loses to the team that everyone's correctly mocking for being so terrible, well, what does that say about the SEC? And I'm excited for that game. Ohio State, Texas, I think it'll be a much better matchup, but I certainly would not push it past Michigan and Kyle Wittingham to just find a way to win the game. Man, now you got me rooting for Michigan this weekend, all of a sudden. For real, because you're right, it would be hilarious. It would be the most hilarious. So the situation with Sobizar clearly in the moment, it looked like the game was over a few hours later, the big 10 puts out the statement and the audio in the video and their secret clock that nobody knew was out there. Ultimately, how does this change? How these situations go moving forward within the big 10 and within college football as a whole? Well, I think it needs to shift to what Mike Pereira talked about on Joel Clatch show, which is if there is a discrepancy between the two clocks, you have to go with the clock that everybody else is seeing, because the clock in the stadium is linked to the clock

on the broadcast and you can't, and this is exactly why you should do it that way. It doesn't matter what your internal sink says. You cannot allow people to see a clock that isn't accurate and have them not believe it. Like that's not okay in any way, shape or form. So I think that what they've done, and they just issued a rule change, the NCAA did in response to this. They've been quick with this kind of stuff. I remember a couple of years ago, Dan Lanting Beto-Hio State by burning clock, putting 12 men on the field, taking a five-yard penalty, but taking, I think it was five or six seconds off the clock, and then the NCAA went, yeah, okay, if you get penalized for something like that, inside of two minutes and either half, the seconds go back on the clock, which is the correct thing to do. But Dan Lanting had read the rules and they were prepared for that particular situation and won the football game on that play.

And this is a similar sort of thing, except there was obviously no intention from Michigan to create this scenario. I know that conspiracies will run wild with that, but I think that this is the right thing to do. You've got to give people in for me correct information. Full stop. I don't care what you say you have. Like this whole thing was a disaster, rather than a conspiracy, it's probably incompetence, it's still gross incompetence, and you can't have that scenario be even possible to pop up again. Final thing for me, Spencer, big game coming up here in the state of Iowa, we're of course gonna be watching SciHawk, but opposite, and if you got a multi-screen setup, you're gonna be in good shape. Ohio State Texas down in Austin, what do you see in the top five matchup? Yeah, I like Ohio State. Steve Sarcusian has done okay in big games against the best teams. He has not delivered on it yet, so I'd rather feel foolish with a mispick

taking Ohio State, who's won a national championship with this head coach versus one who didn't just lose to Ohio State. Last year I know it was on the road, but also very nearly last Mississippi State in Kentucky. I think Sarcus is a really good coach. I don't think he's as good as Ryan Day. I don't think Archmaning is as good as Julian Sain. I don't think Cam Coleman is as good as Jeremiah Smith. I think what Texas has is really good without question. I thought they had a great portal off season bringing Cam Coleman to address their wide receiver weakness, but then the question becomes, how do you have a wide receiver weakness at Texas? That was an narrative last year. Well, O'Line and receivers weren't any good. Where are you asleep in the portal? Your Texas for goodness sake. Should never have a weakness anywhere to that degree, but that's why Texas wasn't in the playoff last year. And no matter how many times they said, well, if you just hadn't played Ohio State, then you would have been 10 and two with a loss to crappy Florida. And you still would have been left out of the playoff, guys. Spencer McLoughlin Lockdown College football each and every day.

He's got you covered on the Lockdown network. Spencer is always thanks for being with us and our favorite Oregon committee member is you right there. Hey, happy to have that title. I'm sure the competition was stiff. Is a deep one. Yeah. See you guys. Spencer McLoughlin catch up each and every day. Lockdown College football talking all things college football. It's a great run half hour show each and every day and get you to you. Updating and everything happening in this goofy, stupid, ridiculous. What kind of adjectives can we use for this sport? Let's come up with a new one every week, Eddie. Yeah, I like it. I like that's a good, that's a good idea. You hit three of three good ones right there. Oh, it is so fun. It is just absolutely incredible what this sport it delivers every single time. We go into a week. Well, it doesn't really have that good many good matchups. And then we get the two storylines that come out of it. And then you get the full weekend of it Monday night. We got the lights out in Florida state. We need to talk about that. We're there talking about playing without lights. We're not going to have to move the game to Tuesday. That was absolutely. There's it is incredible what we have and what we get to watch every single week in college

football. Eddie, let's wrap up here and talk a little bit about what we're going to see this weekend. Let's go to what Spencer was just talking about. You got to lean one way or the other. I'll tell you, I think everybody knows I am. I was true to Jenner. I think I might be sitting out Texas Ohio State believe it or not. Yeah, I think that's a that's a tough one. Right now I would you know, gun to my head. I would lean Ohio State. But man, this is one of those games where yeah, you almost you don't want to put money on it. You don't really even want to have a rooting interest. You want to sit down, turn it on and just like let it wash over you. That's that's what I hope this game ultimately is. My gambling brain tells me I have to take Michigan and the points this weekend. Look ahead line this summer. Michigan was favored in the game. A slight favorite at a couple of different spots when those came out. You can't look as bad as they did against Western Michigan last week. Oklahoma going on the road for the first time. Meteor looked awful after the injury last season. There's a lot of things in my gambling brain that say absolutely take the points in Michigan. But I also watch Saturday night. They suck. Can't do it. You can't do it.

I know I'm going to have a ticket on the Wolverines and as it's 27, 10 and late in the fourth quarter. Bryce Underwood's been pulled and we're going to have that whole narrative that's going to be there. I'm going to kick in myself. I'm going to guess though, leaning Oklahoma. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I think so. I think it's about five and a half. Yeah, give me Oklahoma all day. It reminds me a little bit of animal farm, you know, deceiving what your eyes are actually seeing. Yeah, I think that's might be the case with this Michigan team. And there was something that popped up. I got it from our group chat with Lockdown in the big 10 squad. Bryce Underwood apparently had some comments tonight. We'll have to check on that for tomorrow's shows is. Yeah, not exactly happened apparently with Kyle Wittingham's comments about him is to be one. I saw it and he just kind of mumbles and they ask him about it. Hey, what do you think about your coach saying that? I don't remember how exactly they worded, but he made him, he made him repeat the question almost like he hadn't heard the comments. And there's like that's cool. That's cool. That doesn't seem cool. Not at all. All right, a couple of other games of no coming up this weekend.

We got an interesting big 12 clash BYU against Noah Fafita and Arizona. I'm intrigued. I want to see this BYU team. Can they do it now for the third consecutive year playing at an elite level on the fringe of the play off a year ago again with BYU? I just like watching Noah play. He's just a fun quarterback and I know he didn't play very well against Iowa State last year. That was one of the few games he didn't a season ago. I think this could be at least interesting to keep your eye on late. Yeah, I think so too. You know, Arizona was being talked about as kind of a sleeper in that conference. And I think there is a chance and it's because Noah Fafita is so good. And that being said, like you said, BYU, it's like, let's see. Are you that school? Are you that powerhouse? Can you go, you know, win an early season game like this and then do it, do it, you know, handle it. Do it commandingly. I think that's probably what we end up seeing. But yeah, again, I think this is a very good early season conference matchup. This wrap things up AD here on the committee with, of course, our in state Super Bowl.

Once I said it's a Super Bowl for the other team. The other team says it's a Super Bowl for the other team. It's Iowa. I was for everybody, right? It's a Super Bowl for everybody. Well, let's get into it here. This has been that back and forth that happens. And when you do it, we do and we have a microphone. You have a feeling you want to go one way and I don't really think that's going to happen. Again, my brain says that this should be an easy Iowa victory. Everything is lined up here. The new roster, but there's been so many times. As I mentioned, three different times as double digit favorite. Kirk Farence has lost in this football game. I think that Jimmy Rogers is going to find a way to get this game ugly. And up, keep the possessions low. And at least hang around. I have Iowa winning 27 16. Iowa scores late to get it into double figures and take a two score lead. It's 2016 though in the fourth quarter. And oh, we're all sweating as we're watching that one. Probably Iowa pulls away and gets the victory by 11. What do you got? Yeah, we're really close. I think it's close until half time. I think in the third quarter is when you see that offensive line of I was really kind of

start to wear down that cyclone defense. And, you know, we know the front line of Iowa State really all across the board is pretty good. How much depth do they have? And in a game like this, you're probably going to have to see some of that depth. I just don't believe it's there. I think those holes start to open up. Whether that's for Kamari Motelnor, you know, a lot of times. I think Jazz Patterson's probably high watermark was his freshman year in the Siha game, right? So can Xavier Williams or Nathan McNeil have a, you know, find one of those holes and have a big play. I think Iowa opens it up through the running game in the third quarter. And ultimately, our scores are pretty similar. 28 13 is what I'm taking my Hawks. I do have them covering. And again, I don't think it's, it's not out of hand. It's not a blowout. It's not an embarrassing showing for Iowa State. But I think in the fourth quarter, we all this Hawkeye fans feel, feel pretty comfortable. I will go to 2 and 0, get one more tune up with you and I before the Big Ten Slate begins for Iowa State. Another non conference game against bowling green to wrap up non conference. We got you covered here on the committee.
