Hey, welcome here to Murph and Andy live from ADEL on the town square with the Plas RV behind us. It is Murph and Andy here the day before the Iowa State football game and RV TV. Stop 5. We are in ADEL tonight, the big game, ADM and North Polk. We have so much to talk about. We do. We may not make it to that game tonight because the show could go 6 hours today. We have so, I hope everybody's going to know we can't still be doing the show when the 4pm news starts. We have to be done by them. Yeah, we get to leave. And cheerleaders, football teams. So I'm going to have to omit. My scots. I'll have to omit some of this good stuff we have prepared for today. We have too much stuff to talk about. Well, we should get started then. Let's roll, AD. Alright, let's do it. Oops.

Oh man, it was bad. And a funny show is brought to you in part by Ramsey Subaru, home of the toughest, most reliable cars in the world, and the people who backed them up on Hickman Road in Urbandale. Attention all campers! Keith Murphy. What they do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I've acquired are very long-cold. Andy fails. I'm telling you straight to my way or the highway. Powered by AD. Charge to the bit outside. Murph and Andy. Live and on demand across Iowa everywhere from the ChannelC studios. Man, welcome to the Murph and Andy show on a Friday. We are broadcasting in the town square. Now you might not see that behind us, but we are strategically buffering the win. Is it the little wind? Can we prove it? Is there any way we can prove it, Andrew?

Yeah, hey, AD. AD. Turn the camera around, show the courthouse. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The people are like, you're green, so like a bunch of others. Oh, hey, hey, there's Scott's secure. Scott's popular. Oh, good to see Keith Murphy in the comments. Oh, nice. There we go. Okay, so we're in, we're in Adele. Adele also in Adele. No, Adele is the singer of Broken Hearted Balance. In this Adele, I think they call it Adele. When you're in Iowa and you think you would know how to pronounce the name. Do the opposite of what you think. I think it gets more that way too because of ADM. So it kind of leads you to the. Adele, the soda, the soda, the minbur. Yeah, all right, table setter from guest house to have her and oyster in West Des Moines set to have a big night there with surf and turf being tonight's special. Coming up on the show, remembering 9-11.

Si-hawk, smack talk. Should we be embarrassed? Yeah. And we get to be embarrassed. Yeah, we have some questions for the greater audience. Let's start here though with the big game. The Si-hawk showed out. Iowa, roughly a two touchdown with extra points favorite, 14, 14 and a half point favorite. But Iowa State has won the past two games at Kinnex Stadium. And the last eight Si-hawk games have been decided by 10 points or fewer. The last four have all been one score games. The game is Saturday, 6.36 PM kick on NBC. And another level 12 joined West in a 동안 at DVD. And that's what economy could afford when it was Thursday or Saturday or Friday night. Or back then. And then again,们Do you really like the game too much? No, that is last five minutes.

ingly w IO 13. So a night g a Yeah, yeah, witch a lot of time, but they don't all the lots and all the yards. I mean, one of the unique things about Iowa tailgating is much different than Iowa State. Is it just, it winds in different corners, tailgate where you are. Yeah, it's, it goes all over the place because when the original, and you've never looked at what how small Kinnex Stadium was when it was first put up, and there was just nothing around there. And now there's like no room for anything else. Yeah, they parked that hospital just right on the stadiums, hip, led to the wave. And it's quite a hospital, so it's expanded a whole bunch of times. Yeah, they are, they're, they're, they're, they're, and there's, there's railroad tracks over there. I mean, I really hammed in there. They can't do their landlocked. Three things people are overthinking about Sihock of the quarterbacks. Doesn't mean you're necessarily overthinking for a negative reason,

but that certainly overthinking the quarterbacks, expect Hank Brown to start. I think he's, he's, he's the number one quarterback until he loses it. But I would expect you'll see Jeremy Hecklinsky too. Jalen Rainer is Iowa State's quarterback. I think some people think of that as an advantage for quarterbacks accounted for in the first game. Accuracy still an issue with, with Rainer until he proves otherwise. And, uh, progressions for Hank Brown as the game went on in that first game. He started just staring down Tony Diaz from the snap. And you can't do that against a better defense. So I'm sure that's been addressed, but that was something that was easy to see. Um, reading too much into week one. That's always an overthought process. I mean, what can you tell from Sihock and Northern Illinois? Those are, those are games you should win comfortably and both teams did.

Yeah, we don't have anything else to go on at this point, especially with Iowa State. So we can't help and read too far into it. I mean, that's the one example that we have to go on. Uh, and I am basing some of my expectations for the game on what I saw in those games. Yeah. Uh, yes. The way Iowa ran the football. And I know, I know Ben runs on the way I was. Staying in the football. He did. Uh, I think he thought and he knows offensive line play a lot better than I do. And most people do. He was an all-American offensive line. And, um, I think he, he sounded like he thought some people were being a little bit, maybe too hard on Iowa State's offensive line. But I didn't think the offensive line looked good. I didn't think the running game looked great for Iowa State. Everything else showed a lot of promise. We'll see the defensive line and the aggressiveness of the Iowa State defense, um, really made fans feel better.

Another thing over thinking, but with reason, it's just a different emotional environment in a rivalry game like this. And we've been there for night games. That's a, that's another notch too. It is, I mean, it's nothing. It, well, wouldn't say nothing. It's not like an 11 a.m. game. I mean, 11 a.m. game. It's like all of a sudden the game is there. Yeah. And it's just you, you know, there are some people that probably start still gaining at 4 a.m. But I mean, they, you don't have a, you know, eight to nine hour ramp up toward the game. And you get up and, you know, get kind of set up and pretty soon the game is just there. It just kind of starts. I kick off this late. I mean, you're waiting on that one. And then people talking about it all day long, you're like, I mean, they are totally like over primed ready for that thing to go. And then something about, yeah, being under the lights, I think it sort of adds to the magnitude. It feels a little later in the season than maybe it is when that happens.

So when's the last time we saw a game under the lights? A sidewalk came on. Well, there was, there's been a couple that started in the, in the four p.m. Yeah. So he ended under the lights, but a true kick. The first one was in the late 90s. I think it'd be dark when this kicks off. And then 2002 is the most famous night game. Yeah. For, for different reasons depending on if you're a hawk, I or cyclone fan, that was I was only regular season loss. It's going to have a real, it's going to have a different feel to this for a number of reasons. Okay. So Kyle jumps in with you guys are in A Dell and you've spun your camera away from the beautiful courthouse. Yeah. That's a, another strategy. Well, so here, here we go, Kyle. All right. So we have to be in the shade or our equipment overheats. Okay. But if we're on the other side of the table, is our equipment overheated? I think so. Look, there's the line right there. I'll say line up. Right on the seven. Yeah. De-Marcacia. Yes. All right. And then if we're out there too far, it's actually kind of windy today.

So we would be fired the wind. Yeah. But my hair may move before we're done. 2016 was the last night game. Was that a true night gamer? Was that like, is that, is that when the woman was exercising unbeknownst to me behind me during the years? 10 years ago. I don't even remember that that game would have looked like that would have been Iowa City. The 26th. Yeah. If it's an even number, it's an Iowa city. So that's not the woman exercise. I don't think they put up lights. That was right. Yeah. Come on. They have lights and they have electricity too. And water. And water. And water. And they had to light kinics stadium at one. Yeah. I know. I must go ahead to roll into like kinics. I remember that. Yeah. They bring this temporary. That was an Ohio State game. I think was the first time they did that. The pressure is on Iowa. There's no doubt about that Iowa State is playing with house money. There's not one fan that is worried about Jimmy Rogers in the future of Iowa State

football based on the outcome of this game. If Iowa somehow loses again in Iowa City to a heavy underdog, you're going to, you are going to hear an instant Iowa meltdown of epic proportions. The pressure is on Iowa. Anybody have any disagreement with that? Nope. All the pressure is on Iowa. All the pressure. Yeah. And I mean, Iowa has some legitimate good expectations for this season. Like settle the quarterback. Yeah, but I mean, the schedule lined up the way it is, what we've seen from some of the other teams so far on this schedule. Michigan doesn't look like it's going to work again. Washington doesn't either. Yeah, I mean, do you think, yeah, the things go right. This could be a special season if you're a Hawkeye fan. You think of that way. Yeah, there's, this is not a game that you would expect or guess or bet to be dangerous at all. It's going to quicky pull from WCI pools and spas in Ames and Urbandale.

Who will win the Si Hawke Showdown, the Cyclones of the Hawkeyes? I'm picking the Hawkeyes. I don't think it's a, I don't think it's a tough pick. I think you have to be a cyclone, Jerry, pick your team in any conditions to be picking Iowa, state in this game. Doesn't mean we haven't proven that the upset isn't possible. It's happened 2007, 0 and 2, Gene Chizek, somehow won that game, 15, 13. And as we went over Wednesday, the five biggest points, breads of the past 30 years, like the RV TV or all the five biggest points breads, really you can go deeper than that are all Iowa being favored, but Iowa state has won a couple of times against those, those big points breads. Point spreads bigger than this one, 14 and a half. Yeah, I mean, we've seen games that have really surprised us. We've seen unlikely heroes emerge and the never-ending will arise.

Steel Jans, anybody? Steel Jans, the high point in his career. That was it? Yeah, that was it. 44-41, was that double OT? That was, yeah, that was the 15 minutes, or, we've had double OT and we've had triple OT. And I think there were both 44-41. Yeah, close to it. Both the Jack Tristadium too, right? One Iowa state one, one Iowa one. We've had games like that and then we've had nine seven games that were not entertaining. What was the year, there was a turf problem and it started, the Kinnex Stadium field started to smell like a swamp and Andy Brodell out of Ankeny brought back a punt return to break open a boring game that people were like falling asleep in the seats. Well there was, there was an Iowa state win at Kinnex Stadium in the Paul Rhodes era that was like a nine seven game that was rough, really rough. Like four die hards only. Nine six.

Because that was, that was, that was the rough game to watch. And I think weather was kind of lousy. Man, we've all tried to forget about that. That was not a fun game. But that was, there was some stink in the stadium then as I recall, that was before, well that had been before the artificial turf went on because it's low enough that it may not have been the grass that was stinky. It might have been something coming up from the sewer there. I think it was still grass at that time. Yeah, we, we have been a part of that. You know, it's funny when you see these quickie pulls. I don't believe that that many cyclone fans honestly believe that their team is going to win this game, but they cannot bring themselves to vote for Iowa. There could not be some Hawkeye fans hedging there like you do with the Cardinals and when they're in the playoffs. They're going to lose. No chance in this series. They're going to lose. The one thing that we, we are reminded of when we do a week of RV TV and all these towns all over is that I mean fans are, they are fans.

Oh, they're not coming in there and being like, well, let me give you my logical breakdown of what I see happening in this game. No, I close and I'm, whoa, we get, yeah, I mean they're, they're, they're, they're, they ride or die with their team. And that's it. Yep. This has been a week here on RV TV. It, it, it, it feels like one from eight to 10 or 12 years ago where the smack talk really wasn't that spirited this week because cyclone fans are not discouraged about Jimmy Rogers and they're not, they're not against this team and they, I think they're proud of what they saw in game one and they're pretty optimistic about how the season could go, but they're really not expecting to beat Iowa this Saturday and Hawkeye fans are really confident, not falsely confident. So there really wasn't a lot of back and forth, which kind of goes back to the, the pre-matte Campbell era when, when you, when you kind of had an idea what you thought was going to

happen, but that doesn't always mean that is what happens. 80, what do you say we end the buzz because we have more Iowa and Iowa state coming up? The buzz. Brought to you by Lose Year, he needed cooling. As improved on RV TV, started about late Wednesday. Yeah, Tuesday was surface of the sun hot. Oh, in mind. Milo was really, really hot. Really hot. And we got that system that came through. Recent Iowa Iowa state history, this, this is confusing. How many in a row has Iowa state won? How many in a row has Iowa lost? And one of the things we try to do on RV TV is help people understand this series better so we did, we did clear it up. I'm trying to understand this. So Iowa state has won four games in a row. Iowa won in 2023. Technically, that game was vacated by, by Iowa. That doesn't mean Iowa state won that game because it was vacated. So there was no game. Yes, I was there in 2023.

Iowa won. They did, but it was vacated. But at the time, Iowa had actually won seven of the last eight. And it might have been eight of nine except for COVID. So Iowa state won the COVID game? No, they didn't play that game. So it was vacated? No, they didn't play it. It was canceled. I mean, it was vacated then it would mean they played, but it didn't count. Because of Kade McNamara. So Iowa has only won once since 2019. Yes, but they technically didn't win two of those games. Just think of it like this. In the last five years, Iowa state is three and one. And Iowa won three. Yeah, one in three, three and one, that doesn't equal five. Exactly. I think that clears it up. Yeah, I think we explained it pretty well there. Yeah, so Iowa state has won two of the past three and three of the past five. Unless they have it. Right. Depending on what you do with the vacated game.

Yeah, we all saw it. We saw the game, but it doesn't count. But it also doesn't count as an Iowa state win. No, it doesn't count as we just have to forget that we saw that game. Right. It's not an Iowa loss. No, just, but it is a per-farence loss. No, it's just not a win. It's not a win. You're right. It comes off his record. Yeah, I was at a loss. Iowa's official record in 2023 was six and four. Yeah, right. Not ten and four. And really, if you find a way to win a game, even though they won ten games, they went six and four. That's official. He can't. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. But he lost so many games for them. He did. Not really. Not really. But they didn't lose those games. No, they just didn't play. They didn't, they didn't, they didn't, which is like it. No contest, except it's not called no contest. Got that? Yeah. Also, I think they, they like packed up their stuff and they left. Yeah, it never happened.

And then they moved out. It's like men in black held the pen up or whatever that light is. And you just forget that it happened. Like if that game in the record book had like a vacancy light, like an old motel, it would be lit up. It would say vacancy because it's vacant. They vacated. Right. They didn't see it. That's why you didn't see. And really, if you win a game against a decent team and I was state certainly was and you did it with Kate McNamara at quarterback, that should be like an extra win, not an extra loss. I mean, how did I mean, he was bad. He was bad. We thought he was good in that game though. Didn't we think he wouldn't know? We thought he was still a good player in that game. He was going to be good. Yeah. He was paid what he was going to be good. All right. Well, the the the spec talk is mentioned. I think it's I don't think it's been aggressive this year. I don't think so between fans. Nope. Haven't seen a lot of them. No, and no, and you know, honestly, I was talking to a guy in the Albee Alastair to kind

of pulled me aside. He was from Chicago and he had moved to town because his wife was from the area and he was like, he sounded like me. He was like, I have for Chicago where we didn't really get into college sports and I didn't talk to anything about this rivalry. And I moved here and everybody was a Hawkeye fan and I thought it was weird because you know, they were like the same distance away from I when I was stayed in Albee and I didn't know whether or not I was state fans. He's like, but now he's like, I understand the rivalry a lot better except now the rivalry has changed. Now there's just as many I was state fans down here as there were I with fans. So he was talking about how weird it was coming from a place that didn't care about college sports, which is the same thing with my hometown of St. Louis terrible college sports town. All of a sudden you walk in here and you're like, wait, man, you guys really like college sports, really like college sports. And then it takes you a while but you understand like that. You know, actually college sports are kind of more fun in a lot of ways.

I think when people don't have a because you got more than one thing going on, you don't just have to go on pro team in the whole state unless you're Nebraska. Yeah, not pro. Right. Well, kind of pro. But yeah, they are pro. They spent a lot of money on it. Pro players, pro players amateur. They spent a lot of money on their team and selling out the stadium. So when you don't have a lot of smack talk about the players or the outcome of the game, sometimes you just have to go outside the actual contest on the field. And that's why we have like a council ruling on some of the fans. Yeah, we do. We do. Call the order, the special session of the RV TV council reviewing rivalry jokes, which ones are okay, which ones go too far? Councilman Sears. This one comes from Hawkeye fans Sarah in Mitchellville.

What's the difference between a cyclone fan and a Hawkeye fan? None of them went to the University of Iowa. That's fine. This one comes from Lisa and Iowa City. How do you get a Hawkeye fan off your porch? Pay them for the pizza. Honey. It's old but approved. What do you call a good looking woman on the Iowa State campus of this year? My wife went to Iowa State. Disapproved. This is Jamie and Ames. If four Hawkeys are in a car, who's driving? The cops. Oh, come on, come on now. Disapproved. Why did the University of Iowa put artificial turf in Kinnex stadium to keep the cyclone cheerleaders from grazing? No. Disapproved. This one comes from Mary Lou and Carol. These Iowa's highest paid employee. Kaden Proctor. Funny.

Disapproved. Yeah, this is from Tom and Centerville. How can you tell us homecoming weekend in Ames? Well, the band members have... Side the mascot is a big... The pedestrian bridge is a cunt. And then all the pigs at the research... I've gotten... To burq you, Losis. Visha couches. Herpes. That was some... That's some serious smack talk there. That's pretty good. We haven't heard a lot of that as the time has gone on. Thank you. Appreciate it. Let me see what we have here. Yeah, we got some koozies. That's stickers. That's the old school hawk there. Oh, yeah, that's a good sticker.

Put that on your getty. Got an 80M football Tigers. Yeah, he's a cool. Tigers, a good series. That'll be a good game tonight. He only brought hawk guys to... That's it. Yeah. There's a... There's a... We are way closer to Ames. It's Kinnex Barbershop. Oh, okay. Well, this is Nile Kinnex Home Town. Yeah. What do you know about Nile Kinnex, Dad? Oh, it was a quarter. Oh, okay. I was going to say that was a random question. I wasn't ready for it. Yeah. I think of... When I think of Nile Kinnex, where you were driving in town... Sears and I had a lot of good one on one time this week. We had some long drives this week on RV TV. It's good to catch up with Sears. When I think of Nile Kinnex, I think... I did an Iowa icons piece on him a long time ago. I say it was a long time ago because Bob Feller, Zobble, and Bob Brooks were all in. Yeah, that makes it a long time ago, because those three are all gone.

I know. And I'm so glad I did that, and it was so fun to hear from people that... Somebody's talking about Nile Kinnex. He's like a... I know. I was legend like a mythic character in Iowa. He no longer seems like a living, breathing human being. Yeah, there's like the one video of him giving his acceptance speech, the Heismatrophy award ceremony. And then everything else is like a statue of him or his son. Or something. He's not a real guy, but just to listen to those three talk about him as a living person. I mean, from Feller talking about him as a little kid playing over here at the park together. He was his... Nile was my catcher. Talking about them growing up together and all the things, the ways that you can tell that he was a good athlete. But the voice that stands out in my mind will never go away as Bob Brooks. When I did that story, we went to Iowa City and talked to him down in Kinnex Stadium.

And he's wearing his tweed hat. And he was there for Nile Kinnex... For Nile Kinnex as an Iowa player. And coming in on the trains and all of that. But he was like, I don't remember what... Do you remember what game was it that... Sicker's not here when we really need him. Yeah, the one time we could have used him. There's one game where he really... I mean, he's playing Notre Dame or somebody. I think it was Notre Dame. Yeah, it's his first big game. And Bob Brooks is telling the story. They were playing Notre Dame, that game and then... He came out and had an incredible game. And from that point forward, the entire world knew about Nile. It was just like... Boom. Yeah. Set the scene. The whole world found out about Nile. About Nile? Yeah, that was so fun. And Scott's...

Scott Sipkier's documentary, which Friedly Theater is about to put back in theaters with Nile Kinnex. That really brought him to life. I mean, it made him a real, real person. Because one of the things that hit us the other day is like, Nile Kinnex died at age 24. That's how old David Warrington is now. Like a David Warrington from our WH-13 sports team. You forget how... I mean, that's a young thing. Way more TV footage of David Warrington than Nile Kinnex, though. Yes. And the way Nile Kinnex spoke at the Highest Ventrowski Ceremony, he sounded... He sounded 44. Not 20. Well, he sounded... Well, it's like 22. It's like 24, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, man. Yeah, the incredible vocabulary and just perfect grammar. He was clearly a very smart guy, but that was a long time ago, too. Well, it is 9-11, of course, as you know. This is the 25th year... It's kind of 25th... 25 years, 25th anniversary of...

Yeah, 9-11. This is the... This is a terrible... Yeah, this unforgettable day for a generation of people. I mean, you know, people who are older than us, I mean, I was in alive when Kennedy was assassinated. They don't... People remember that. The bomb that planted a bomb. Yeah, the day that was it wasn't alive yet for this. Yeah, that's right. But we remember this and it was the start. It was the Monday, it was the start of RV TV. It was a different RV TV back then because we just stayed at one stadium or the other the entire week. So Todd Bailey and I were going up there for the press conferences to park the RV, to get ready for the whole week. I was going to get the pick the RV up. Well, you were driving up there. Yeah, I was... That was when we used to just like rent the RV for the week. Yeah. And it was going to be the first year that we...

It was going to be the first year that we did at Channel 13. You had done it. The previous ones you had done before were at Channel 5. So I was going down to pick up the RV and I was sick as hell. So sick. All night long didn't sleep a wink. And I called you in the morning to say I'm so sick. I don't see any way I can go get this RV and meet you guys there today. And I was stressing about having to tell you that because it was a really big deal to be a terrible time to be sick. And you just immediately answered, I don't think you're going to need to worry about it. A plane just hit the World Trade Center. So I quickly flipped on the TV and yeah, like... From that point on, I don't... I feel like the TV was on for two weeks. Yes, around the clock. And the second... When we had that conversation, the second plane would have hit...

No, the plane would have hit. Yeah, because that's what removed all doubt that we're under attack. That was an accident. That was an accident. That was an accident. And then of course there was another plane that... It's a Pentagon. Yeah, that's... And then another one that landed in Pennsylvania, I heard that it was crash land on the plane. Yeah, it had some heroes... Flight 90s, right? Flight 93. Yeah, so... And back then Iowa State had its press conferences on Monday. Now they're on Tuesday, same day as Iowa's, but they were on Monday back then. And remember Dan McCarnie saying that the game doesn't matter now. It doesn't matter. But for a couple of days, the game was still on. Like the big 12 didn't call off games for a while. I think, you know, there was some thinking. And it wasn't all from a complete lack of empathy or sympathy or awareness thing. There were people that did feel strongly that...

If we change our way of life, the terrorists will win. And so we need to play these games. And that was kind of the thinking of it. But I remember being pretty outspoken about... It can't play these games while they're still pulling bodies out of the rubble. And while there still could be somebody alive in there. I mean, you would watch what you were seeing from those search and rescue crews and all those, you know, the thousands of people who died and... Just the heroism of that day. And you just... You couldn't imagine stopping and cheering for a football game. And then eventually the entire country came around to that. I think they played the NFL games, though. Didn't they? Did they play the NFL games? I don't remember. What I recall was that... And it makes sense now.

For a couple of days we were all just shell shocked. And nobody really knew what to do other than watch TV, you know, and just watch the coverage. Every newsroom in the country dropped everything that they were doing and covered that. The movie Spotlight does kind of a good job of showcasing that. I mean, there's a really big story that they have going on there at the Boston Globe. And they're ready to come out with it, release it and everything. And they have to take... You know, it's the whole thing on the Catholic Church and everything. They have to take all their reporters off of that and immediately put them on the 9-11 coverage. Because of... It's just the magnitude of the whole thing. And everybody just had to kind of stop and kind of let the dust settle for a moment

before they could decide, what are we going to do now? And then, yeah, people were just like... I think things were shut down for maybe two weeks before anybody could be like, what are we going to do? Are we going to pick up our lives again here? We're just going to keep them on pause. I wanted to be the first one to ask that question. That's what I remember. I mean, without question, it was a lot like COVID. And you just have this event and that was, you know, shorter term. But it changed our world permanently. And there are still many things that are different today because of what happened 25 years ago today. Yes. And thank you to those of you in the comments that are correcting my memory here of 25 years ago. So 9-11 was a Tuesday. So this is when Iowa State had to press conferences on Tuesday because for a while they were on Mondays. But we must have started RBTV since we were part. We must have started it the day of the press conferences on Tuesday instead of Mondays like we have for so many years.

So thank you. That was a Tuesday. I'm not going to lie. I'm a little, I've got distracted because we have a live musician that is just cranked it up. About 30 yards from where we're still. He's so loud. And he's got the courthouse behind him. So it's kind of reflecting the sound. Yeah. That's really loud. That's what we're laughing about. Yeah, we're talking about a really serious topic. But Harry, I mean, we talk about this every year. We commemorate it every year. But 25 is a big year. It's a big number. It's a big number. Yeah. And it's, yeah, it reminds you of how quickly time passes because even though that was another world ago. I mean, really, it like the world was different in a number of significant ways before 9-11. And then it changed forever. But it still seems like this was to me because I was doing the same thing. I'm going to work with you. We're doing our RBTV. I mean, each year that we each year that we look back on this anniversary, we're doing

RVTV, the same thing that we were getting ready to do on September 11, 2001. Yeah. And I told the story before, but I was with Todd Bailey and his wife was in New York City with the Yonkers group. So he, as we're up there for trying to decide what to do and how to cover this and sports being just like a little bit. But people, you know, there were big decisions to be made. Do, do, do we play these games? Do we do RVTV? I remember should we have sound off became a big topic and we ultimately decided to do it. But that was the only time I've hosted by myself. And we didn't do, we didn't talk any sports on sound off that night. We just opened up the phone lines and let people pour their hearts out for an hour or an hour straight. And that had been what five, six days since it happened. Yeah, yeah. But yet they were still, oh yeah, fresh.

The recoveries were still going and there were still, you know, clouds of smoke and ash and dust over the, over the 9-11 site. Oh, Jesus. Man. All right. Gonna need a, we got a white blue over here. Yeah, it's easier than we thought. Yeah, put some weight on that there, guys. Thank you. Okay. The maybe it was the singer over there that actually blew it over. He blew it over with his, just his sheer power. His amplifier there. I hope I didn't damage that light with my forearm. That, that they came down hard. There you go. All right. If you're watching right now, tell us, does, does the, is the music overpowering us or is it, is it not annoying? Yeah. Mackenzie says grab that man's harmonica. Oh, my God. Is Marty says so annoying? Okay. All right. It's loud. Okay. Yeah. Well, I guess that's the answer. My brother-in-law's here. He could go break that guy down in two seconds.

I said it over there. But he has every right to be playing. I don't know if he is that. Yeah, Scott's gonna hit. Oh, he is. He is. Oh, now he's gonna feel bad. Oh, I don't want to go. Don't do it. I can't believe you. Don't do it. Scott, he has a right to play music. I don't know that do you have a right to play music? I don't think you have a right. Is that the Bill of Rights? No, is this a, this is a town square? He's got a right. There's no commandment about music or an amendment about music. Maybe music amendment. Can you put a poll in the comments about does he have the right play? Yeah, it's just the talent square. Is it really loud? No, he's probably hired him to come here and play. Yeah, he's probably part of the entertainer. Yeah, he just, he just, yeah, you could, if you could just like, you know, move over there or something, I'd do a better. Anyway, what will we tell? Oh, yeah, 9-11. Yeah, turn it down from 11 to about a three. Oh, did they do that, John Popper? Oh, yeah, Blues Traveler was playing last night.

Oh, he, he, okay. How long went to that concert? I got some video. John Popper could still blow the mouth harp. Oh, yeah, Hassel hired this guy. Someone raised it. It's just, it's a hassle prank. All right, NFL kicked off this week. Seahawks beat the Patriots 13-10 in the Super Bowl rematch. The Patriots melted down in the fourth quarter. I mean, and Drake may throw a terrible pass to lose this game. That was not a real interesting game. I didn't, I didn't get to see as much of that one as I did. That night's game. So I'd rather just skip ahead the last night's game. You were going way more, I'm sorry. You were not, we were working and you were on headsets. Well, and David and I each had the game on our net. You were like Sipker in the library. You didn't realize how loud you were being. And you were reacting to plays like, oh, yeah. Oh, I mean, you were really into it. He was a good game to watch, man. You know what the thing that was hitting me is somebody who's watched the NFL for 50 years. When you step away from it for a while, you know,

on the offseason and then you watch closely for the first time in a while. I've just always reminded how hard these guys are in the other. Oh, man, I feel like it's the first time I've ever watched NFL football. You're like, damn, just just pound of the crutches smoke in each other out there. See it? And I don't understand. That's why you kept reacting. Oh, yeah, just grunts. Huge hits. It was a really interesting game. Brock彭 he had a great game. He had the one that he had the Super Bowl favorites. Interception early. Yeah, were there really people picking the Rams to go 17 and know this year? I hope not because as well. They're not that good. More than a week ago, I hope all of you took the advice and bet your house on the 49ers because when I heard they were going to Australia a week ago, and that the Rams were going to go over and get one sleep before the game, that sounded like the recipe for an upset.

And it wasn't even like a scratch by upset. They beat the crap out of the Rams. And I heard Dan Patrick talking about this this morning, so I don't want to plagiarize too much here. But I agree with what he said. I mean, Roger Gidell needs to lay it down with teams in the NFL. If you are, if they're going to play these teams overseas, the team needs to get there early. And, you know, be there working for the league for a few days, making fans acquaintance. Like the 49ers. Like the 49ers. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, be there. They made a bunch of fans over there. And the Rams just dropped in like it was an inconvenience to them. And I think there were a lot of people who thought, oh, no, that's perfect because the Rams will stay on their own schedule. They'll just drop in, play the game. They're not going to get all jet lagged and everything like that. And the 49ers at the opposite. And I think there were, there was, there was a group. There was, there was an argument that said that the Rams had it right

and the 49ers had it wrong. But man, they could not have looked more wrong. 49ers were way better than the Rams last. They certainly were and, and Perthy looked as good as he's ever looked. Three touchdowns. 27, 7, the final. And the 49ers despite all those injuries and more injuries last night, get off on the good foot. Presented by Wealth Charter Retirement Planning and Tax. Wealth Charter Retirement Planning and Tax run by a guy named Tim Hawkins who we know. We know what known personally like him very much. And we trust him. He's a good guy to call and he's got a lot of answers there. Wealth Charter Retirement.com. I'm going low. And I'll tell the story here with Andrew's help. Okay, so I'm going low. So last night we go to Murf's Place, which is a V-bar on the square.

Not my place. It's another guy. Another guy named Murf and his name is either Micropat. And he has a twin brother. Yeah, who's Micropat? Anyway, so we see and we've known him for a long time. I think we met him before we even started doing RV TV there. Yes. So I had been laboring under the delusion that Murf's was a St. Louis bar. Because they had a cardinal neon sign in the front window. The first time we went there and I took a picture of it and the bunch of stuff inside. I was like, oh, yeah, this is a St. Louis bar. And so I go in and I see Murf there. He's sitting at the end of the bar and I was like, hey, Marvin. He's like, hey, we're talking for a little bit. I was like, all right. I said, good card. Go cards, man. And this was kind of an interesting season so far. It was fun. And he goes, I don't give a shit about the cardinal. I'm a cop's fan. And I was like, what's what are you talking about? This is a cardinals bar.

This is a St. Louis bar. And he goes, look, it is. I'm a cop fan. I hate the damn cardinals. And I was like, what are you talking about? So I was like, look, I got into an argument with him about his own fandom. Absolutely. And his own bar will he gives off the wrong vibe? And the other armor that went on, I went around and collected evidence. All right. And the bar neon sign on the wall. St. Louis blows. Boom. Right there on the side. That's not the cardinal. I know it's St. Louis. Right on the wall nearby. Cardinal 2011 World Series Champions. That's the 11th World Series A1. Another one right there. Another one right there. All over the inside. Is that cardinal stuff? Everywhere? More cardinal stuff? I'm starting to get a theme here. The other one. The other one. The other one. The other one. Anything Budweiser is Cardinals. Okay. But it's got free stuff and he put it up on the wall because Budweiser sends it. Yeah, but the Cub fan doesn't do that. I'm not putting up old-style stuff in my bar.

I'm a Cardinal fan. No, it's not just that. It's like all kinds of stuff. Look at all these. That is not from a beer. But that's just a cardinal sign. Yeah. Okay. That's false advertising. That's what that is. Look at that. Look. Budweiser Cardinals. If you're a Cub Bar, you don't put that up. What are you talking about? I agree. If you're a Cub Bar, you can't have all the gifts. So you just have to take the free stuff that Budweiser sends over the years and give it to somebody else or put it in the dumpster. I mean, Budweiser probably has Cub stuff too. So I mean, I hardly think it was my faux pas. Okay. That's it. But it really did bring me down and it pissed you off. It lowered my opinion of Murf. No, I stayed there for the rest of the night and enjoyed myself. They were really nice to us. Look at Andrew Pull this one up. Look at this. Even little signs everywhere. Yeah. That's a little one. No, pop it up. Look at that. Look right there. There's no cup anything.

Now, next thing you're going to tell me is that it's a cyclone bar. Because there was a lot of guys everywhere. Yeah, there was a Cooper DeGene jersey. Yeah, he said it was a Hawkeye Bar. Okay. But there was no doubt. I really was kind of disappointed. I mean, you know, like something that you've known to be true for a long time in your life. Yeah. And it turns out to be a lie. So that hits you hard. Yeah, you just, you don't bounce right back from that. I'm going to need some time. I have a story from about that same time frame. Oh, I'm not, I don't think I'm going to tell. No, no, I want to tell it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm just going to tell. No, we're going to tell, no, we're going to tell. No, we're going to tell. I'm going to tell it. Fine, you don't have to tell it. You just stay. All right, and bring that silent. So they put us up really nice accommodations last night. Bed and breakfast. Okay. This is the bed and breakfast. They're like, okay, I know that son was right there. I couldn't get it. It's a really nice bed and breakfast. And they're okay. I see it. There were two of them across the street from each other.

And they're like, yeah, you guys, there's four rooms over here. And then there's two across the street over here. This really nice one. And so you and Ed, we were like, oh, we'll let them have that really nice bed and breakfast there. And we'll take the other one across the street. So we set up across the street. And you guys are over there and we're walking to the bar. You got there a little later than we did. So you just stand on the front porch. And we're like, oh, okay, well, they'll get it eventually. We'll just meet you down to Merfs place. Well, like a half an hour later, we're like, what, okay, what is taking these guys so long? And we're like, all right, we're taking beds here. It was like, a, Ed got stopped repeatedly in the street. Good to talk to people. That's probably what happens. Keith got stopped. Somebody got hurt. Somebody, you know, they took the wrong turn. They can't find, you know, we were like, Ed got stopped. So it took forever. So finally, you guys walk in and we're like, did you get stopped a whole bunch of times? Were there people talking to you?

What, what, no, no, nothing like that, nothing like that. So it turns out that you guys got there and they thought there were going to be two rooms there, but there was only one available with one bed, with one bed, small bed. And because the drone, the guys that did the drone show, they were only supposed to take two rooms, but they took three. Yep. So there was only one room left. So far, you're telling this story without getting into details that'll make me uncomfortable. Yeah, but you guys had to knock on the door for a while. And finally, this old lady in a bathrobe comes down and answers the door. And she answers the door and you're feeling really bad because she was in bed. She was asleep. Yep. You roused her to come down and let you in. And she just had a bathrobe on. She didn't like put on anything else. Chip slippers on. Bare feet. Oh my God. All right. So. And she's like, we have we're here for the two rooms and she's like two rooms.

This Jason Summers told me this whole story. So I think I have a pretty good recall. She's like two rooms. I've only got one room. And. And what were you guys? What did you say? Because then Ed was just like immediately just dipped out. He's like, okay, that's fine. Mark keep, keep can have the room. Yeah. Because you guys, because he said, I'll get it. I'll, I'll go somewhere else. Why was he so quick to say that? Um, was that did that because it looked like a nice Victorian bed and breakfast. It was real vibes. It was where there's some vibes for vibes. Yeah. It was. Was there. It was very eccentric and and decadent. Were there were there like cats in there? Yes. Yes. More than one. Yes. So to go to the bathroom, there were two different doors that were closed with signs that said, close the door. So the kiddies don't get out. So you were in there a while. Well, yeah, I, I, I, I, you check, you said, I'll take this room and she checked you in. Well, and I said, can I get a key so I can get back.

So, so I can leave and then come back later and she said, oh no, once you come in, you're never leaving. I wish she was joking. And it was like that. Oh, she's joking. She was joking. But like a headbrain. Yeah, headbrain out at that point. So, so you are, so, so Keith checks in. Andrew, you're going to let us. Hey, so Keith checks in. She put all this, they put all this stuff up there in the room. And is she giving you a tour of the place? Yeah, she was lovely. She said she showed me a show. Did she show you the VHS tapes selection? No, she didn't, but she, she showed me on an encounter space where she would put the boiled eggs in the morning. The what? The boiled eggs? Yes. Yes. Like soft boiled eggs or hard boiled eggs. I don't know hard boiled eggs. Well, she's given Murphy tour and and and and and our friend Jason. Yeah, I've already said his name.

He and his buddy are like, we're breaking Murphy out of this joint. We're going to find a different place for him to stay because he's uncomfortable. You're by yourself. You're going to have to share a bathroom with some stranger. You know, you don't want a couple strangers. All right. Yeah, it's fine. Yeah, so while Murphy's taken this tour with this lady in her bathroom. Jason and they took video. There's Jason sneaks up the stairs to get your stuff out of this bedroom, which was like on the third floor. It's way up all these stairs. I was fine to stay there. I kept insisting they would not let it go. No, no, they wouldn't let it go. But so he's trying to sneak up the stairs, but this house is like 150 years old. So the wooden stairs going. I totally creak and make it all the shit ton of noise on the way up. I think go and go and the first thing they're like, oh, it's stuff's in this room. And he goes and he goes, oh, no, that's not his room.

It's the other room. So he has to go into the other one. He grabs the site. This is his stuff. The other guy is like recording it with his cell phone. He grabs the stuff. He has to go back down the stairs without letting the lady know you left. They pulled you out of there. The lady thought you stayed overnight there. I know until now. Until now. Until now. Now she's just fine and now she's like, I think a guy might be dead in there. I haven't seen you. Just pulling up the poiled eggs out and he didn't do anything. God, you woke her up in her bathroom. Made her give her a tour of her house. She didn't even stay there. Now she's wondering how long he needs to wait before she kicks in the door to find the dance party. She calls the Alvia police. She was a worthless check. She was a very happy guy. So they had to extract you and pull you over to Rose Place. Oh my God, that was funny class of story. They did. Yeah. So a bunch of people in the comments are saying like, so the what's the point of the RV? Well, for more than 15 years, I spent the entire week in there.

And when you were with us, you stayed in there too. I had a more comfortable spot than you did. And that makes it sound like you were rough on it. I wasn't roughing it, but we stayed there. But as this got bigger and bigger, especially after Ed joined us and we were doing more live hits and the size and scope of this, there's not room for everybody that's involved in this production in the RV anymore. So Scott Edwards comes along, but it's very much needed because we're in there all the time working. And it is like our home base. But yeah, we were usually now in cabins, B&Bs, occasionally a hotel. We hit the road. So there you go. Stayed at a lake house on Lake Bonderosa. Yeah, I ended up at the state bank for those wondering where they put. Yeah, they had apartments over the bank. Yeah, we stayed at the state bank, which is that's so RV TV. And so I'll be like, oh, why don't you just stay at the estate bank?

Okay. That makes sense. We stayed at the JD 3 building across the street, this bad food that is set up for veterans with PTSD. When they come in town to Albia, they put them up over there. It's really, really nice. It was a great stay. And I mean, they had like snacks and everything. Yeah, we didn't have any snacks. It was so comfortable. It was great. I didn't even have a boil egg. I could have had bananas. Could have had a lot more than that. Yeah, it was. She's so nice. I'm going to be so uncomfortable. I'm going to go with a real high of thrill and honor. He's a flight in Albia yesterday with Jim Keller, Vietnam veteran. And we got to fly over the, and we all got to go. Ed and I went with Jim Keller. He's a Vietnam vet. He's a guy that built the, uh, in Albia.

He started this. It's all volunteers. It's one of the most underrated things in Iowa. And we got to fly over it here. You can see the 50 flags for the 50 states. The, the 21 crosses. It's, um, it's a really nice look at monument. It's a great monument. It's very moving. And Jim goes there virtually every day, if not every day. And again, he's the guy who started this. Had the vision for it. Got married right before, right before he went to Vietnam. He was, he worked at high V, a high V manager for a long time. And he got married before he went to Vietnam and came back. He had only been in a helicopter once since his many helicopter trips in Vietnam. And he went up there and Andy, even though he sees this every day, it moved him tears to see it from the vantage point we had from the helicopter. And that was just a thrill. Yeah, it was really fun. I hadn't been in a chopper since the days of chopper 13.

But Captain Fred, Fred Redman. It's, it's, yeah, it was an eight view. You could see everything. You really see the Albiotown Square. And they're getting all set up for the, for RV TV. You, you could see a long way. I can see all the way to Missouri. I could see the cheap cigarettes. Really? Yep. Firework stands. Even this time. Yeah, you can see the fireworks stands. You can see the signs. I have some other memories of RV TV since our show Wednesday. This is, this is the group photo at, at Merff's bar. That looks like a good time. It was that. This is, that's a Lake Ponderosa. Yeah, that's our cabin on Lake Ponderosa there in the night at Monozum. And that beautiful. That's a beautiful shot. That's beautiful. Yeah, the water was like glass. Yeah, so still night. Yep. This everybody posed shot of you trying to, this is everybody wanted to be a country club. For dinner and the friends at high B were nice enough to give me a cheeseburger so I'd have something to eat.

Why did you sit on the floor? Just all those nice chairs around you. To raise the dramatic impact of my, good, all right, my loneliness and misery. I was Jenny that took that picture by the way, she was sitting right with me. I can't tell. Drone show. Oh, Drone show last night. That was cool. Yeah, the drone shows are neat. I can't believe how accurate they didn't get it with. I know, wasn't even understood. Did that happen like overnight? I mean, I've seen them for a number of years now, but it seemed like it happened. Like all of a sudden, there were drones and they were perfect. Yeah. What? Got a good comment? It's hassle. It's hassle. Oh, geez. All right, next slide. These are the high bank boys and the cool thing about high bank boys is a couple of more in Monozum of football uniforms. When we were stopped at RV TV there 12 years ago, they were football players on a Friday in Monozum of this time, town square. They're up on stage, playing music and just in front of a big crowd and entertaining everybody.

That was cool. Here's a hot guy legend and now cyclone men's head wrestling coach, Brett Metcalf pulling up on a cyclone. Well, golf cart doesn't seem to do it justice because that thing could move. Yeah, I don't think he uses this for golf. Yeah, they have a, they make them there in Monozum. Yeah, they're auctioning this one off to raise money for the wrestling club. So, yeah, some great memories there. All right, Scott's goal, stupid, quirky poll. And the weak and Iowa unnecessary censorship coming up next on Murphy Dandy on Iowa. You'll be told to follow certain rules for success. You'll follow your instincts instead. You will envy the person who can log off for the day. And you will accept you are not that worse. Maybe inappropriate for children under 13. Scott School. Scott School is cool. Yeah. Hello everyone. Welcome to Scott School here on RV TV.

This week we're going all the way back to 1894. The first ever side-hawk game. It was played in Iowa City. The school names were the state University of Iowa and the Iowa Agriculture College. The Iowa Agriculture College had just played two days earlier against Grinnell. Traveled all the way to Iowa City to play this game on a Monday. And the Agriculture School beat the state University of Iowa. 16 to 8. For you might think that was a couple touchdowns and two point conversions. Well, however, back in 1894 the scoring system was different. Touchdowns were with four points. And then when you would drop kick the goal after that was worth two points. So technically what would become Iowa State scored three touchdowns and three after goals to beat what would become the University of Iowa

with their two touchdowns and two after goals. 16 to 8 in 1894. That's Scott School. Scott School. Scott School. Scott School is cool. Yeah. I can't tell if it's the combination of the sad music and the stats I don't care about. Well, what was that? I don't know he's not playing those little things. Luke Fox over there. Thank you. Luke, Luke, Luke, change it up for us. I'm not sure if he's playing original so find him on Spotify. He's got a nice little like sort of a Steven Wilson Jr. flare going on over there. No idea who that is. What? I know Luke Fox. Steven Wilson Jr. That sounds made up. What are you talking about? He was on Howard Stern recently. I tried to get you to listen to him a hundred times. Scott School is presented by Carbless premium handcrafted cocktails. Now endorsed by David Warranton. Yeah, he's David Love. Oh, yeah. He's been. I'm not sure if he's playing those things. When that guy delivered the hammer on those things. Shotgun on him.

That guy gave it was giving out cheesecakes at Murphs last night. Yeah, that was random. Though, cheesecake does not go well with light beer, but it does go well with a nice carbless. Because David had a piece of cheesecake. But in that kind of an odd bargif like I brought you a cheesecake. No, not about it. David to series. He was like, here you go. I got something for you. He hands it like this thing. It's like wrapped in a plastic bag. And John's like, what is it? He goes, it's a cheesecake. And he's like, you know what it is. Thanks. I'll eat it later. I had to carry this cheesecake around the rest of the night. Hey, Murph, series of questions gets me every time. Just loud. Oh, what is it? I'll eat it later. Well, that's what he said. We got some stories that you cannot tell. We have stories. The next I will everywhere after dark. Oh, man.

Somebody's coming out of the room. Yeah, I, when we're done with this, and that could be sooner than later, when that happens, we're releasing all the after dark tapes. RV TV until the wheels come off. It's like a scepter and millage. So they do look alike. Oh, yeah. So I know. I know of you watching on YouTube. So Scott Scepger on the left. This is Joe Millage, who Ed has endorsed for governor, even though Joe is not running. No. But he would like him to be governor. He is the governor of that quadrant of Iowa. Yeah, he runs Thunder Country, or I don't know, maybe owns it. Oh, works at Wichim Moscow. Yeah, he's really, he's, he is one of the most helpful people that we have ever, very created across. Yeah, very creative guy. Anyway, Scott, he looks like he could be your brother. Yeah, we both have very weak German jawline. So we wear the beard and then we have the receding hairline.

You can say that about yourself about the weak jawline. But why don't you say that about Joe? You're just said, maybe we look alike. If I insult myself, it's clear that that is getting transitioned on to Joe. But no, you can look alike without, without suggesting he has a, maybe he looks like you, but has a strong jawline. He doesn't. He's got the same jawline as me, and I think we've done well for ourselves. Scott, I know this is, this is a question that's almost impossible to get an objective answer to, but I appreciate you asking it today, because I would like to hear your honest take on your question. Who is most unbearable after a win? Cyclone fans or Hawkeye fans? Oh, well, there's no way to, yeah, I mean, it's clear. Nobody can objectively answer that question. I will try. I will try. Who pulls it on more? I think that it's Hawkeye fans, because there is a lot of people who are not really aware of it.

There is a sense of entitlement among the University of Iowa that they are the superior program, school, and town. Yeah. And so when that gets taken away from them on the scoreboard, there's more of a reaction to undercut the value of the game. So I think it is Iowa. Now there are douche fans on both sides. Clear about that. But in general, I think that's probably how I would land on that. That's how you get to the mindset of, this is the no win for us as Iowa fans, because if we win, we're supposed to win. If we don't win, the sky is falling. No, you have to have an arrogant position to feel that. Yeah, that entitlement, that you're condescending. And so that's been the case for as long as these new universities going back to 1894, there's such different types of schools.

Their ethos is different. And so you do have that more urban feel over in Iowa City and the more rural feel in Ames. Now it has the 10 years of Matt Campbell and even going back before him to end Dan McCarney started to turn things. And then Jamie Pollard helping with the facility upgrades. We see it on RV TV. It's a more balanced shape than it's ever been. But there still is an entitlement there. And there are still more Hawkeye fans in Iowa than Cyclone fans. Yeah, and if you look at the amount of money that one school has over the other, there is a difference. There's the law school over at Iowa, which is considered by a society to be prestigious to have. They have a medical side of things over there. Now you have the veterinary school at Iowa State, which is world class, but folks look down when you study humans versus studying animals. This is the natural rural urban divide in a game.

Now Irish Hawkeye says, Keith earlier you said all the pressures on Iowa. Yeah. Yes, absolutely. There's no doubt about that. I don't know how that contradicts this. No, I don't. All the pressures on Iowa, the pressures on Iowa, because they're expected to be an outside college football playoff contender. And Iowa State has an all new team and all new coaching staff. That's why the pressures on Iowa, it's not the series history that puts all the pressure on Iowa. Iowa has lost this game two years in a row. Three, if you don't count Kate McNamara. It's a little strange. It's like the team that has, you know, more history, maybe more prestige, would have more pressure on it that does sometimes sound a little counterintuitive. Like it shouldn't matter to them because it's a smaller game. But in this case, we know this is a regional rivalry. And that's what's amazing about it is that you can have a game like this that maybe at first glance shouldn't matter to a team that has, you know, hopes of a big 10 title or, you know, making the college football playoff.

They shouldn't worry about a nonconference game early in the season. But you know that, I mean, not only could it knock them off their off their their game for the rest of the season and give a bad loss, but they have to live around all these cyclone fans. They have to put up with going to work on Monday after this has happened. And, you know, they have to want to get on social media and they know they're just going to get buried there. It's going to be their existence is a little bit more difficult when they lose this game. Confluence the official beer of Burfinanti and confluence is where good things come together. No confluence right now. We've been enjoying it all week long though. We've been passing it out. We've got some cold old tamar in the fridge right now. Hopefully there's somebody in there enjoying some right now. We got a long day of work still ahead. I don't understand the people that could have a beer like while they're working.

Like Ron Burgundy style. Yeah, are you like mad men when they would go drink during work and stuff? Working lunch. If I have a beer, it tells my body I'm done with work for the day and I can just relax. You do know you're talking about this show which you do work on and every Friday you have a beer. Oh yeah, I don't have to go work TV. I don't have to drive anywhere. I don't have to do that kind of stuff. So today I am doing that. All right. And you just relax into the sweetness of the end of the Burfinanti show on Friday. What do you say we get some more? Let's wait. There's more from either or eatery and patio. Since I got here, have you guys noticed the crowd building? Thank you. See? They're looking at you like you're in a suit. What is that? We've had a light fall. More is brought to you by either or eatery and patio. What an absolutely beautiful day on the patio over there. Just a nice day. Just a nice day. Beautiful day. Nice weekend. Tomorrow's supposed to be good.

They'll have the game going over there. All your things going on at 6222 grand Avenue in Des Moines. In our continuing coverage of a Des Moines epidemic, another building has failed to get out of the way of an oncoming car. You got to learn at some point. You got to learn. Look, at the Valley View Village apartments in Des Moines, a woman was driving along, mining her own business, went out of nowhere, a building crashed into the front of her car. She injured a dog inside the building, which is really sad. Look at that poor dog there. All right. They have got to quit putting these buildings so close to roads. All right. Keep them out of the way of the car. You can be ready for it. You can be ready for it. Why did, you know, how do these cars keep crashing into buildings here? Since I started mentioning this, this has happened every week, and I get 10 text messages every time this happens. Do you think it's happening more, or you're just being made more aware?

I think it's happening more. You think it's falling? What is going on? It's got to be. Some of this is phones. Some of this is people driving who should not be driving. Yeah. Some people are drunk. Sometimes though, you would think that with the amount of auto drive that there is, that this should be happening less. Like the robot should be able to, but people don't turn it on. So then they just run into a building. You trust those robots? I don't know if we have much choice. I trust the robot in the shot in Kurt Chevy that we have because it worked last night. Because somebody had come behind the car and it stopped. Oh, the emergency staff thing. Yeah. You're calling that a robot? Yeah, that's what it is. He called it. What do you think it is? Such a dumb name. A computer? I'm sorry. What do you think a computer is? It's a robot. It's a robotic thing. It's not like a robot gets into the driver's seat. You're thinking of a humanoid robot. There are many forms of robot. Like vacuum. You're vacuum.

Yeah. You're dishwasher. Yeah, well, you're dishwasher. You're car. Yes, you're a robot. It's a robot that is designed to wash dishes. Oh, my goodness. Okay. Really tired. At the so-called Republican midterm convention. The midterm convention this week in Dallas. The Republicans thought it would be cool to bring it. You know, their symbol is the elephant. Right. So they thought it would be cool to bring in a real elephant. And that went exactly as you would expect. Oh. Yeah. Hey. Oh, it's cool. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Oh. You're. Oh. Well, elephant had to go. That's a huge leak. Had to go. Oh, the elephant paid. The stage is the elephant's toilet. Oh, my god. That's a lot of pee. That's a lot of pee. From Buzzfeed College admissions officers are calling out the worst applications they've ever seen. Okay. Here's one. Quote, I remember an applicant who wrote at length about how how she panics under pressure, lacks leadership skills and can't stand hospitals.

It was a medical school application. That does not seem like someone who wanted to actually get to, like they were almost told they had to apply. Yeah, right. Well, stay tuned, Murph. Okay. That's all right. At a law school, I was considering the admissions people told a story of a woman who had sent in a shoe with her application, along with a note that said, now I have a foot in the door. Well, she was not a foot, but I appreciate the effort. Well, you would, if she said a foot, it was no way she's getting in. If she said an actual foot, no, there's no way she's getting to police or company business. Ed was worried that I was going to be chopped up last night. I mean, those guys overreacted so much. You were scared of that woman. That poor woman. That was, she was nice. I think she was surprised. It was hard to tell. I got an admissions package with an essay written with Red Crayon. It was well written, but Red Crayon, seriously? Yeah. I guess trying to stand out, or maybe I want to be school teacher, is this going to go

red? Maybe it was written from prison or something, and that's all they had. Or maybe it's blood. An applicant literally wrote something along the lines of, please don't accept me. I don't want to go to your school in the Addendum section of our application because his parents forced him to apply. I believe that. Yep. Here was a happiest place prompt. There was a happiest place prompt. His happiest place was in the bathroom while taking a dump. He said this photo just as fast as an install. Yeah, yeah. They were like, well, my happiest place. What's your happy, I guess that was a question. We describe your happiest place. He was really honest. I think I'm going to be able to relate to this by the end of the week. Someone else wrote about her school trip to Ireland, where she mentioned staring out at the Pacific Ocean from her hotel. The Pacific Ocean. Yeah. That's right. I was just looking at the oceans of the Pacific. I just felt the emerald green. A geography application.

Looking through that Hubble telescope or something. I don't know. A prospective student wrote about how they were riding in the car with their parents and saw through the window a young boy tied up slash duct taped in the back seat of a passing car. The prospective student said nothing about it to anyone and tried to make the essay about their struggle with the experience. Ooh. I know people like this. It's all about you. Yeah. Yeah. This calls to mind Jerry McGuire. Jerry McGuire, Jay Moore and Jerry McGuire. What would be so selfish? Think about me. I had to fire my best friend. God stop being so selfish. The weirdest one was a kid who brought in his common app essay and the entire thing was about how much he loved his mom and how pretty she was. Oh. Wow. Must have been from Alabama. Yeah. Yeah. That's a little weird. Maybe some issues there. Scott, what is the common app for?

Is common folks? Oh, that's application. Application. I thought it was another app. Just a regular. I thought there was one call. There's a robot. Where you look for like, I just want common people. I just common folks. All right. Here we go. I had a student who wrote a page. Wrote a page worth of complete metaphor. I can't hang on. Kids. I had a student who wrote a page worth of complete metaphorical BS that I could make zero sense of. The best sentence, however, was something along these lines. I delight in pondering life's endless choices, such as whether to indulge in extra guacamole. Is my palate worthy enough of the delicate mingling of avocado and coriander? I would like to know what the application was. I think that one found the circular file. Yeah. Unless it was like the application to some kind of chef, chef school, law school admissions.

We had a woman apply multiple times. Our essay topic was basically why this law school? She started the essay verbatim. Who am I? I am Jane Doe. I want to go to law school and marry a lawyer. She also wrote about how she cured cancer, discovered how to regenerate amputated limbs with stem cells and reversed gray hair back to its original cold. That's a strong application. I'd hire her. And finally, an applicant submitted an essay composed of Japanese characters that when put through Google Translate turned out to be a loosely translated version of Dr. Sucess Kat in the head. The rhythms were the same. From the files of some headlines, don't need stories who bring you this. And by the way, this is also today's stupid criminal all rolled into one. What reads, Florida woman drives drunk, hits car, punches cars owner, urinates and pants, runs mouth at responding officer. Was this an albia? No. This is in Daytona Beach, which sometimes is mistaken for albia.

Police say Elizabeth Boucher, a trouble standing was belligerent, and had pants soaked with urine and seemed confused about what had happened. They also say it seemed she was drunk. The owner told officer is the Boucher, trying to leave and hit her during an argument. Police say Boucher, later resisted arrest, refused to breath-alise her test, telling officers, I thought we were all friends. She then attempted to make herself vomit near the rear of the police car. She faces charges including DUI with property damage, battery resisting an officer in possession of a scheduled to drug. Now here's Ronnie Jordan with another gas station mixology minute. This is Ronnie Jordan, this is another property picture update. This is the world cup edition of the picture. This is definitely going to call who you're not supposed to kick away. Of course, we got a clip. So fresh from the Jamaican spot. We got the Brazil buzz balls. And if you drink buzz balls, you definitely, this picture is definitely going to lead to family probation.

And see, two buzz balls equals four fights. I don't know if you know the buzz ball. Math, two, every can of buzz ball got two fights in it. And then you add that bottle of 99. That is a sour apple bottle of 99 proof that is pure. That's like the thing you put in your gas to make the octane go up. When you raise, that's that race car fluid right there. This right here will make that girl who you, your baby mama, thank you like, get punched. Because she, you don't even like her. She thank you like her. She will punch her in a shit. I don't know what that is, but it's special to the core. And it look cool comes in the can and it looks so be weary of it. Because all this stuff leads to felony probation and you have come so far. This is right. You're from the shit in that bad help desk at the black delegation. Don't get in the poverty picture game guys. It's adding a lot of broke tibities to liquid form. So you're going to get the broken your system so fast that the desperation is going to hit you. And when you get to a situation where you can't have no discernment, then lick us to ice

that post to help your immune system is going to make you fight people because your immune system is fighting for his life because you got dirt in there. Lickestowe, a tendon ice got get it like the person who working looks though definitely touch all your ice. That's all leads to it. And the buzz balls, you know, they're right there. That's just it makes you it's a it's a Karen spirit inside of those buzz balls because the white lady who made the man invented it, but it makes other people fight. Everybody who got like a bill do don't drink these do not drink. You have come so far. We so proud of you man. You don't go back to this don't cause the picture will get you, but you don't get a regular sum of lick. Get you some vodka and cranberry and I can adult. I call you Batman. He's great. That's your boy everybody. Oh, the delivery. Perfect. All right time to find out what's bugging you. Hey guys, it's AD sitting right next to you. What's bugging me this week is the manipulation of stats.

I would stay fans claiming they haven't lost the side hog game in four years, which is technically true due to the 2023 vacated game, but it gets worse on both sides. Cyclone fans will say we've won three of the last four. And then I would fans will say what we've won seven of the last 10 and I would stay fans will say, well, since Kirk Ferrance showed up, the series is almost dead even at 13 and 12 and I will fans retort with well, if you remove the first four for Ferrance, he's 14 and eight. And then we'll write back to well, you can't count 2023. It was vacated. It's the same with the Iowa has won this game in Kinnex since 2018. That's 2925 days. That sounds like I was saying there's one four or five in a row at Kinnex. When in reality, it's only two Iowa one in 2018 and they didn't play in 2020. We can all find stats that make our argument, but soak in the other side. I'm just excited for Iowa to win its second of the last five or eighth of the last 11 or 13th of the last 20 or whichever one makes my team sound the best. That was a very measured argument by yeah, actually kind of surprised.

Yeah, kind of impressed. I was going to ask over a new leaf. Why not just do that here, but then you couldn't put the photos. Exactly. Yeah, okay. Speak, speakpipe.com slash my underscore Andy. Remember, after the game, to get on there, night or day and leave a good rant. We'll play it next week. All right. Throwdowns. Throwdowns. Throwdowns. Backed by Hartlin Tyron Auto. Hartlin Tyron Auto brings us throwdowns and authorized the other ball of firestone and bridge stone tires. Andy, we're going to start with you. Chris Hasel said he would take losing to Iowa State if it meant that I will had a definitive answer at quarterback one for the rest of the season. Do you think most Hawkeye fans would agree with that? No, I don't. Absolutely not. And no, I was shocked when he said something. I mean, I don't know what I mean to you guys. I bet that's one of those things he's thinking. Well, I don't understand though. I mean, the definitive answer could be a negative thing too, right?

I mean, the other guy could get a season ending injury in the game or just be so bad that you know that he just can't play. I don't know. I don't get the I imagine he could explain his way out of that one, but at face value, I would agree with that. This is the dumbest thing Chris Hasel has ever said. And he said, so that's a strong indictment. Dumb things. No, absolutely not. He doesn't believe this. No fan believes that. Absolutely not. Can you imagine what it's going to be like to be a Hawkeye fan for the next year of Iowa State somehow finds a way to win this game? No. No way. Would he take a definitive answer at quarterback at his 80 point in out? That could be negative or positive. No way. Definitely assuming that if Iowa has a definitive quarterback, then they'll make the playoff. That's got to be what he's saying in his own mind. So the question would be, would you take a loss to Iowa State if that meant you were going to make the playoff?

That's a different. Well, yeah, that's for us. Absolutely. That's what I think he's. But those aren't the same two things. No, they're not. He means that like one quarterback is so good in this game. Then how would they lose it? But then when they would have lost, what's that? Yeah, that's what's negative. No, no, no. And this is bordering on the count descending you were talking about earlier. Yeah. But also it's great for the algorithm. So thank you, Hasil, for putting that out of there. Murf, you guys have been on the road all week. What's the thing you're most excited about being back home? Oh, boy. I know it's an easy answer, sleeping in my own bed. But I think I think that is it. Yeah, that's. Vegetables. I have had a vegetable. Yeah, we've had some salads. Although I went a couple of those. I didn't go to a quasi Italian restaurant today. How was the Italian dressing there? They didn't have Italian dressing. That's why he said quasi.

Oh, they must have must make their own dressing. No, they're like, I'll make no thousand island in a packet. How was the I was trying to get some vegetables? How was Ed Sandwich? It was not a sandwich. He ordered a hamburger cheeseburger. And he thought it was a cheeseburger pizza. And it was about this big. Oh, so it didn't go well. There was like 30 bucks. He was wondering why this one cheeseburger 35 dollars? Cheeseburger. The thing that I'm looking forward to is getting back to my regular podcast. Because we're on the road here for RVTV. We legitimately are not turned off from making content or being around people at all. And so I haven't got to listen to any of the I-O-Everware shows this week. The bills start on Sunday. I'm way behind on all that content.

I just feel really excited about getting plugged back in to my world of content. Yeah, be too. I look forward to next week's Football Friday Primetime game when I will have had time to look at the rosters. That would be great. I will, Murph has blown me away. He has worked so hard this week. I cannot believe all that was on your shoulders this week. It's blown my way. Obviously we've had three podcasts. You've been on television constantly all day long for five straight days. You've got a coaches show that ran this week. You've got Football Friday Primetime tonight. You've had to pre-produce a show that runs tomorrow on our station before the game. And then obviously just manage all the other moving parts all around with the towns and shots of the RV TV. You've coordinated all the social media skits that we've done.

Keith has worked his butt off. You get re-worn in first time off. You get Sunday for Sunday off. No, you've got to work on Sunday. And happy hour. Happy hour. And Joe Emeritus was a big help. You guys have been great. Scott is a tremendous help out here. In fact, the big boss, the GM called and gave you a compliment. Whoa. Yeah. All right. I'm moving on up. Scott, if you had to play one play at one position in tomorrow's side-haul game and you have to try to do it well, what would you choose? Ooh. Ooh. Put me at quarterback, baby. If you're going to make me go out there, I'm going to get center stage. I'm taking the snap, e in shotgun, and we're running a read option. And then I get to make the call to be the hero. And I might just pull it back and actually throw it deep. And for me, deep would probably be seven yard out.

I punted at high school, but I think at my age now, I'm tearing a hamstring if I try to punt. So I played quarterback for 10 years. So I do think I could play quarterback for Iowa. And I do believe even now at this age, I'd be better than Deakin Hill. Wow. Sheesh. Wow, Deakin Hill just catching strays over here. Yeah. I look, I injured myself stepping off the curb outside Cases this week. I'm not even going to entertain the idea. I was serious when I were talking about that today. If we got tackled, like division one or the NFL, how badly would you be incapacitated? I mean, you'd be out for a month. Long snap. You want to be a long snap? Oh, man. Oh, yeah. You can mess that up.

You can mess that up. That's a good choice. Okay. I'm changing my answer to wide receiver. I think I could run like a three yard out. And there's to have the quarterback put it at the out of bounds. And I could catch it. If you got to get your ass, I was going to go out of bounds right away. I got this. I hacked this question. I got it figured out. All right. That's throw downs. Nicely done, A.D. Thank you. And thank you to an Aiden Wyatt being out here on the road this week and helping out. Big help. We've done some heavy lifting, getting us through this. Thank you. We have are we? Where are we now? Oh, it's Andrew Downs. Audio drop of the daytime. Oh, yeah. Oh, hang on. There's no clips. No clips. No clips. No clips. We can't go again. Game day men's health. Anthony Westemore in North Liberty, wherever you are, there is a game day near you. I mean, it is innocent. It is Friday. Yes. So none of these bleeps are necessary. It's all in a conversation. A lot of it had on this show. I have placed bleeps to make it hearing things that aren't actually being said. So whatever you hear, that's on you. It's not on us. It's this week an Iowa unnecessary censorship. I hate this game.

I absolutely love this game. parking lots, full, people are f***ing each other. It's like the worst in fans comes out. It's got a seat so like Ed can sit down when he takes a s***. So he can shave his legs. Yeah, so he can shave those smooth legs. Having Kyle Conrardi, like watching him in warmups, he is banging s*** time after time again. There's so much build up and then you get into the stadium and you s*** off and then it all just kind of s***. I'm glad he's still at Iowa State because look at that. Look at his a**. Like serious. Look at that guy's a**. She's it turns out, I mean they're like so full of s***. The only thing more full of s*** is David Warrington. Thank you to everyone who showed up in person on Friday, who live streamed the event on Friday, who my sweaty s*** on Friday.

There's nothing bad about that at all. Oh, there's more than you realize. She was all innocent. Oh my god. It was all innocent. It was so shitty shaking her sweaty hand. What'd you guys hear? Just wondering what that little boy heard. Yeah, that it's very suggestive, Adia. Do you realize it's all innocent conversation? It is suggestive. I'll admit that. I quicky pull results from WCI, I pull and spas, we still have hot tubs on our VTV. We sure did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's hard to haul those around though. We were part in one place. It was much easier. They could bring the WCI, but not now. WCI pulls and spas brings you this quicky pull here. Who will win the Sihawks Showdown? Hawkeyes, it's 71% of the vote right now, 29%. Cyclone fans who just... That's a not going to vote for the Hawkeyes. That's about as big a gap as we've seen in a long time

as far as how the vote goes. Yeah. Who is most unbearable after a win? Cyclone fans or Hawkeye fans? Hawkeye fans are the most unbearable. How do we have a lot more practice at it? 61%. I agree with Andrew. And Scott. And me? Yeah, you said you made the case. Hawkeye fans. It's the right answer. Okay. Jim LeCker King checks the weekend radar. Oh, yeah, take it up a notch. Oh, yeah, take it up a notch. Oh, yeah, take it up a notch. The Irish whiskey. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's time to drink it all night long. It's time for the James. He's going to look out at that Pacific Ocean. There was a guy last night at the bar that was peddling Irish whiskey. Writers. Writers. Really wanted everybody to try something. Writers, tears. And I said, someone was called? Yeah, I said, that was my friend, Bryce's favorite whiskey.

Writers, tears. And he said, oh, yeah, this isn't Writers, tears. I just filled this bottle back up with my, my concoction. I was like, because I did the same thing. I was like, Writers, tears. I've never heard he goes, oh, that's not what's in there. I was like, you can't tell people back. That's why you're in a bar. I know, you're in a bar serving contraband. Yes. You're doing. You can't do that. That is so RVT. And he was telling us after we had already drank it. I know. It was bush mills. I got that at the bottom of that. It was the bush mills honey. Why did you use that? Is there a bush mills honey? Because his sister brings it back overseas. She's a flight attendant. And so she brings this contraband back. So she's a smuggler? Yes. She was also supposed to be on flight 93. Oh, she ended up giving birth to her daughter that day. That was a Tuesday. That story took an odd turn. Yeah. All right. Anyway, Jim's talking about the James.

Yeah, we're on your radar. I'll go first. I am going to watch the Siha game tomorrow. Want me to start with tonight? Tonight we're over here in Adele, DeSoto, member. Yeah, you'll be working the side. I'll be working the side. You're great at it. Yeah, ADM and North Pole. A couple of really good teams for the area. Yes. With perfect weather. So I'm looking forward to that. And then we got Siha Saturday. That's me. Yeah, same for me. ADM will first be live here at four or five in the same season. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yep. Then ADM versus North Pole. Primetime game on WHO 13. Then we have a Siha showdown preview special tomorrow. I'm warning it nine. I'm hosting that. And then the game is at 6.36pm. That's a long day. That's a long day. And then you got sound off on Sunday. No, I mean, it's a long day for people waiting for the game. Oh, yeah. It just feels like it takes forever to finally get here. Scott, what's on your radar?

I'm behind on Iowa and Ice Guy content. So I'm going to go make that this afternoon. Get that out. Scott, you want to talk it all about the phone number you got last night? No. You didn't ask for it. I mean, but did you want to talk about it? Not really. This is something AD would do to me. You want to say AD? No, absolutely. Do you want to talk about that? No, classic RV TV show. It was after dark. After dark TV. After dark TV. What? She was loved. And she was fond. Really, really. Not a bathroom. No, no. Yeah, she was not in a bathroom. According to ADD, I was about to be abducted. That's not the best. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. I was in the bathroom. That's not true. I told my husband I was in the bathroom. I didn't know what the room was. I was in the bathroom. I told him that I was about to be abducted. That's not true. That lady had purple hair and purple eyebrows. Is that correct? No, I don't think she could be abducted, If you're already in the person's house.
