Taking a look at the run-blocking, pass blocking, the passing death for a phase on brand and what he was. I'll play action stuff like that. It's coming up a defensive focus in second and three, often to focus in second and number two. My big takeaways from Tennessee football is 45-24 win over Georgia Tech. Again, I had an immediate reaction show Saturday night. I had a Sunday morning show where we took a lot of the press conference quotes and broke

2:05those down from Josh Hyple. That was on Sunday morning. So if you missed any of those, go back and check that out. That's going to be the run-down throughout football season. What you can look forward to, away game, home game, day game, night game, whatever is an immediate reaction show and then a Sunday morning show. So go ahead and plan that throughout football season. We've done that the first two weeks and it's been a pretty good success. My biggest takeaway is, you know, maybe this football team is better than I thought. And that's not because Georgia Tech is a juggernaut. I don't think Georgia Tech is a juggernaut. I think Georgia Tech is an okay football team. Clearly better than what it showed against Colorado, you know, but still made tons and tons and tons of mistakes against quality football team in Tennessee, but they were much better, right? I'm not trying to act like like Georgia Tech is going to make a run at Miami for the ACC. That is not going to happen. However, you go on the road with a true freshman quarterback playing in only his second ever college game, his second start, his first road game. And I know there was a ton, a ton of orange in that stadium, first away game I hadn't been

3:06to in years, right? And so I got pictures from inside the stadium, but I didn't get my own eyes on it. But I mean, there were tons and tons of oranges, orange there for Tennessee, but it was still a road game. It was still a road game. And the majority of the people in that stadium did not want Tennessee to win that football game. And just to watch the mental makeup of your, of your young quarterback, who did not play his best football game. I talked a lot about that on Saturday and Sunday morning, but still like Josh Hyple said and I'll play the clip here in a moment. Maybe I was super impressed with just how he composed himself, face on brand and he may play as a health Tennessee win the football game, right? But if you look at the stat sheet, it's not going to blow you away. But the way he was operating pre snap, communicating with his offensive linemen, communicating with all of his guys when things didn't go well, the adversity watching him command that he, that he put that the poise that he had in the huddle was super impressive. When, when pressures in his face on third and fourth down, the ability to move the change of his legs really, really impressive. I don't know if I expected that this early out of phase on brand knew he was going to

4:08be super talented knew that he was going to be electric and make big plays. And again, he struggled a little bit the other night like that's going to continue. But the mental makeup, the, the, the competitive composure at this early age early in the season, I was, I was really, really impressed with that the other night. So from that aspect, I think it's better. I fought Tennessee again, not the taking victory laps here because I know I'll be wrong on some predictions. You know, that's just kind of the nature of the business. But this felt like, and I said this countless times, this felt like NC State 2024, right? People like, Oh, no, oh, no, watch NC State. They got hold of it's mother. They got a grace McCall. They've got this player. They got this player watch out, watch out, watch out. Tennessee beat a 51 to 10. Like that was the talk all off season. And like George attack, I don't think was thought of it in that great respect. Because I think that NC State, they say healthy. They would have been okay, but they never stayed healthy. Grace McCall, I sure retire at some point that season due to medical injury. There's none the less. A lot of people were like, oh, George attack man, that's going to be a toughy going down

5:10to Bobby Dodd, freshman quarterback. I don't know. I don't know. And I was in the camp of like, nothing was going to be given to you. Tennessee was going to have to go down there and earn it even after that embarrassingly soft, right? Brinkies words, not mine, my words do. Performance that the G L O Jack is having its Colorado in week one. But I still knew you'd have to go down there and earn it. And it wasn't going to be easy. I did not see Tennessee winning by three touchdowns. I didn't have Tennessee winning by three touchdowns while also committing 14 penalties for 142 yards. Mike Wilson, volquest.com looked it up. The 14 penalties match a high pool high at Tennessee, the 142 yards from those penalties, the most of the high pool era. Goodness gracious, that's pathetic. That is, I mean, that's, it goes without saying that they're going to have to go down that that's got to be cleaned up. Okay, I'm not even going to spend a whole lot of time discussing that because we know that's got to get cleaned up.

6:11If you go and you do that against Alabama, you're going to get your brain beat in. Okay, you go do that against Texas in two weeks. You're going to get run out of your own stadium. You cannot have double digit penalties for 300 or for 100 plus yards. It's inexcusable. So I'm not going to talk about that. But the fact that Tennessee committed all those penalties, the fact that Tennessee had an okay day from its quarterback, you're still won by 21 on the road. And again, I'm not saying Georgia Tech is a juggernaut, but winning to by 21 on the road and oh, yeah, this thing on, rushing for 300 yards. What? I got my Tennessee would have a day on the ground. I thought Tennessee would rush for 200 plus, but a yard shy of 300 at 299. I didn't see that coming. I still, I still don't think the offensive line is playing to where it needs to play right now. Now how scary is that? If those boys start getting click in here in the next couple of weeks, how scary can that

7:14be? I mean, any way you want to spend it and Hype will mention this in the post game press conference and I agree with him. So I'm not sitting here talking bad about the offensive line. You rush for 300 yards. It's hard to nit pick. But my job is to nit pick. You tune in because you don't want to hear about all the roses and the A's on the report card and all that. You want to dive in. Okay, where are the wards? How can we get better and how can this Tennessee team get better from this week to next week? Right? That's what you want to know and hopefully to get entertained a little bit. And that's where it is on the offensive line. We'll dive into the grades here in just a moment. But I still don't think that offensive line is jailed the way that it needs to so far. Yet you rush for 300 yards and shout out tied in. Sure part of that. DeSan Brain split zone at a 12 personnel full house. Getting that backer there on the one more is a touchdown that the final one of the day. That's a that's teach tape right there. I mean, that's a thing of beauty on Dishon's. I believe it was his first touchdown run. Sham blocking down climbing to the backer. Yet David Sanders come in kick lead up and pull kick that outside backer and then Dishon's

8:16one on one. You got Mike Matthews blocking a safety down there and he just kind of picks which way he wants to go. That's a thing of beauty. Okay. So there's a lot of good things and scheme concepts and everything that they did well. I still think that they can be better. And so the fact that you go on the road. I don't care who you are. You rush for 300 yards. I don't care who you are. You commit a 14 penalties for 142 yards. And I don't care who you are. Your quarterback that had an okay day did things to help you win. No doubt. Didn't make mistakes. Okay. But it was okay stat wise and you win by 21 on the road. That's impressive. I had someone jump in my comment section after the post game show on Saturday and I think my title was something like reaction. Tennessee hammers Georgia. No, it was a it was reaction. Dishon Bishop goes off Tennessee hammers Georgia Tech 45th 24 and someone in there was like, you know, I love the balls. I'm not going to ride with you on this one. Anybody with a pulse would beat this team and penalties this that that I'm like, I hear

9:18you. Like, like, they ran for 300. You're on the road. You ran for 300 yards. I think Tennessee wins this game more than not. I don't care who you play. Right. So just Tennessee got to clean some things up 1000%. But I walk away from that game like, okay, not not the same feeling of Georgia last year. Like I walked away from the Georgia game last year and though defeat though Tennessee should have won at the buzzer and regulation on a Max Gilbert mixed Phil. Goal missed. Goal. Went away from that game saying, Oh crap. Tennessee can do some things this year. Tennessee is going to be good offensively all year long. Tennessee can beat arguably anybody in the country after that performance. That was my thoughts walking away from that George game last year. I'm not sitting here saying that leaving Georgia Tech, okay? I'm more grounded here, but I'm still impressed that though you got in your own way so many different times, you just bullied him. The guy that got hurt and was carted off in the third quarter for Georgia Tech.

10:20I forgot his name. Georgia Tech released a statement. He also released a tweet saying he's okay. You know, kept observation. You know, at the hospital and they released and all that. It's fantastic news that that is amazing. You never want to see that in football. It breaks your heart every time you see that. And then those poor guys got to go and start hitting each other in the next play. So really, really glad that he's okay. But this game went exactly the way I thought it would. Tennessee in the second half would absolutely take over now. Gain to 21 point lead at one point time early in the third quarter. And the defense kind of was soft. That was not good in the third quarter. So many penalties, about a hundred yards of penalties racked up in the fourth quarter alone, three from Tim Merritt on one drive passing her parents. That's not good. But overall, top to bottom, especially teams touchdown for Georgia Tech when Jackson Roche has held on the football so long, all bad in tails, the good, the bad, the ugly Tennessee goes down there and whips that tail. It's like I thought they would because Tennessee's roster is better. Tennessee's athletes are better and Tennessee is faster than that of Georgia Tech in middle of the road ACC team.

11:22That's just how things are. That's not the state Tennessee is going to win 10 games. That's not the state Georgia Tech's going to go on it and win 12. The remaining games and challenge Miami in the ACC. That's just that's how I thought this game was going to go. So and that's what happened. And you know, there's there's a lot of good. There's some bad and we'll continue to discuss this. But overall 4524 might take away is day man, like Tennessee kept trying to get in its own way and it still just beat the crap out of the team on the road. That's impressive. Maybe Tennessee is a bit better than I'm a bit better offensively really overall. Then I thought it was going to be more on this and so much more as we continue on here. Okay, let's take a look at some profile focus stats that matter. And again, I'm not into the grades, if you will, because I just I don't buy into that. But it is a resource. It's something I like to reference. And you know, you can take it or leave it. Now, things that I really enjoy snap counts, run blocking, pass blocking, passing depth, pressures, how many pressures missed tackles?

14:29You see all those things here in the stats that matter at profile, ball focus. If you're unfamiliar with what profile, ball focus does, it's got a grading scale that looks like this. Elite is considered 90 to 99. Very good is considered 80 to 89 above average starter is considered 70 to 79 average starter is considered 60 to 69 and below average starter, below average starter is 50 to 59. If you score less than 50, profile, ball, focus considers you a backup level player or a backup level grade. So looking at the offense and some quick hitters here in terms of the grades, again, take them or leave them. I'm not necessarily in on the grades because I know, no, slight to profile, ball focus, they do a lot of stuff that I love. I don't think that they know exactly who's supposed to do what on every single play. Okay. But it is a resource. De Chambit shift led to balls with an 84.5 offensive grade or Darius Jackson had a heck of a game 77.1% was his grade to on Morris. A heck of a game 72.5 also De Chambit shift heck of a game 72.5% was his grade David Sanders

15:2970.5 grade phase on Brandon 70.4 was his grade. Javin Gordon 65.0 was his grade Braille and Staley 62.7 so on and so forth. Some of the grades that were not good, TK keys on four snaps 40.3. That's such a small sample size. Travis Smith Jr on 15 snaps of 48.4 small sample size. Cory Williams on five snaps 50.6 small sample size. Ethan Davis the lowest graded starter on 38 snaps of 51.7 grade Trent Thomas also started 12 person L 31 snaps 53.1 was his grade while we're on the tight end subject. Desson Braim 24 snaps 53.4 was his grade. I thought and that's one like even on rewatch like I'm not trying to act like I watched him every single play, but I thought he played pretty well. Or at least better if you will. Sam Penelton 68 snaps 56.2% grade. Donovan has on 14 snap 59.2 window Moys 68 snaps 59.5 Jesse Perry 63 snaps 61.5 Sham Umaro

16:3554 snaps 61.6 early in the football game. I thought the rights out of the offensive line was not good. And then you go and you look at these grades and those two offensive lineman Sham and Jesse Perry actually graded out the highest of any offensive lineman. Not named David Sanders I should say. Nonetheless, those are some of the grades. Let's look at. Um, let's look at passing debt for your quarterback, shall we? Fade on Brandon. Two of five on passes 20 yards down the field for a touchdown 65 yards. Now that one to Braille and Staley was marked at 20 yards on the stat sheet. Profit ball focus says a deep ball is 20 plus yards. A medium ball. It's 10 to 19 yards. So they're not counting the touchdown pass to Braille and Staley as a deep ball, which I counted as. But nonetheless, um, two of five 65 yards and a touchdown on balls down the field, medium passing game intermediate, if you will. Fade on Brandon was one for one.

17:36Fade on Brandon was one from one. In that respect. No, excuse me. I don't know what I'm doing here. No, no, I'm right. One for one for 25 yards and a touchdown. In the short passing game, he was seven for 10 for 58 yards. And then in the behind a lot of scrimmage, he was over three. He didn't complete the screen pass in this game. Um, and that obviously was not great. He was kept clean on 10 of 19 drawbacks in those drawbacks. He completed 52.6% of his passes, two touchdowns under pressure. He was 0 for three. So small sample size, but 0 for three. When he was blitzed, he was six of 12. When he was not blitzed, he was four of 10. Again, accuracy was not the biggest attribute for Fade on Brandon in this football game. He was just 10 of 21 for a buck 48 to touchdowns. He did add 22 yards on the ground, one of which with a four down conversion, one of which was a third down conversion, which was big in this football game, completed 48% of his

18:37passes, but still did not put the football in harm's way and did not, um, did not make a whole lot of mistakes. He just wasn't very accurate in this football game, uh, completing only 48% of his passes. Uh, Fernando, excuse me. Uh, Alberto Mendoza meanwhile in case you're wondering, no, we'll save this for, for, for the defensive side. Um, we'll save this for the defensive side. Okay, let's go to, um, run blocking. Your best run blocker in this football game was, uh, that was, that's not a receiver. Was David Sanders, 64.3% was his run blocking. Very Jesse Perry, 64.2%. Desson Brain there you go, 62.6% on 15 run blocking snaps. Um, window boy was at 60.7. Ori Williams just had one rep in that regard. Donovan Haslam, six reps, 58.9, shame, umorow, 35 run blocking reps, 58.6. Again, I did think he struggled in that regard. Sam Pendleton, I did not think played well, uh, overall 41 snaps in run blocking, 56.2.

19:40Um, again, Ethan Davis and Trent Thomas had the lowest run blocking grades in this football. He was a pass blocking real quick. Uh, David Sanders led the way 27 pass blocking reps 85.9 was his grade. Shame 19 pass blocking reps 82.7. Sam Pendleton, 27 pass blocking reps 81.1. Tennessee held up in the past for sure. Um, Ori Williams, four of his snaps were pass blocking reps 72.0. Jesse Perry, 23.6.65%. Donovan Haslam eight pass blocking reps 57.3. Window boy 27 pass blocking reps 40%. So that is obviously not a very good, um, pass blocking grade there for a window boy. Huh, um, okay. That's a look at some of those grades. Uh, Dishon Bishop was fantastic in this game. FaZe on Brandon left a lot of meat on the bones, but did not put the football in harm's way. Tennessee's tight ends. I thought block well with the run, at least to son Braim did overall.

20:41Um, I just, I still don't think the offensive on play very well yet you rush for 300 yards. So obviously you're doing something well. And I can't wait to see that group when it starts to click no doubt. Defensively, we'll take a look at what the defense did in this football game snap counts. Um, coverage grades, missed tackles, all that and more. Look at Alberto Mendoza stats, all that and more as we continue on here. Let's go to defense here. And again, just like the gradings go, I'll mention in the previous segment, but if you're hopscotch around this episode, I will tell you what it is again. You got to lead. 90 to 99 very good 80 to 89. Above average starter 70 to 79 average starter 60 to 69 below average starters 50 to 59. And less than 50 is considered a backup level grade. Thus a backup level player. If that's what you give for the holistic view of the season. Tennessee defense again, I kind of amics bag, but really they played great football in the first half. On the field for too many third downs, I recognize that. Took the foot off the gas when Tennessee went up 21 nothing in the third quarter.

24:51They got bullied and that that touchdown drive that first touchdown driver the season offensively for Georgia Tech. They just got bullied 9 play 75 yards, almost five minutes off the clock. In the fourth quarter, they gave up so many penalty yards. But I created turnovers pick six from day John Lane back against the wall Jeremiah team that came up twice an interception there before the half. That was fantastic. They were going to get at least three out of that and then in the and then late in the third quarter. Fourth quarter actually before they went for it, which again, I was talking to one of my buddies in real time. I'm sorry. 14 30 left in the game down 14. You're going for it. You're going for it on fourth and 14 from fourth and goal from the 14. I mean, what do you do in here? Like that was. I mean, I understand you're running out of time, but 14 minutes and 30 seconds left in the football game. You're you're going to go for it. Fourth and 14. Fourth and goal from the 14. I did not get that did not get that move from Brinkie, the same guy

25:52that opted for a field goal. Late in the football game against Colorado instead of trying to pick up that first down and ice the game away. Anyway, Jeremiah T. Leonard had to pick there. He had a sack late in that football game that kind of set up that fourth and 14. I thought Jeremiah T. Leonard was great. Jordan Norman 14 snapskins firm and well, he played 34 snaps and this when I thought he was all over the place. Tennessee played loads of three three looks, loads of four two looks at really good mix and match. Mary on die two sacks in this game. I thought he played well. Overall, a lot to like. Tennessee played a total of 30, excuse me, 22 players on defense. Couple of the highlights highlights for the grades, if you will. Again, something not everything. Day, John Lane led Tennessee defense with an 85.3 percent grade on 71 snaps. Jordan Norman at 85 grade on 34 snaps. Carson general 21 snaps 74 percent was his grade. He's in the two deep. Good for him. Tyree Weathers will be 54 snaps. You love to see that 73 percent was his grade. Mary on die 27 snaps 72 percent was his grade. A lot of defensive lineman playing a lot of

26:55snaps. Wait until I get to Xavier Gilliam. Mary on, I mentioned him Jeremiah T. Leonard 42 snaps 72 percent grade. Amari Campbell 76 snaps 69 percent was his grade. Ty Reben 60 snaps 68 percent was his grade. Xavier Gilliam 53 snaps. So you had Tyree Weathers be 54 snaps. Dei, Xavier Gilliam 53 snaps. Man, I love, I love how they're playing a lot. Sometimes I feel like if you play 20 to 25 snaps, you're just kind of getting your toes wet a little bit. But don't one that be tired, of course, they still need some guy in J.J. Finch want to be able on this game. Something that was part of the reason why at least for Gilliam that he played so many snaps 67 percent was his grade. Shout out to Davis, Matt, calf 18 snaps. If not for a penalty, what had an interception there that fourth quarter. Davis, Matt, calf 18 snaps 65 percent was his grade. Quay Moss 50 snaps 62 percent T.J. Matt calf 73 snaps 61 percent T.J. Matt calf is a really good tackler.

27:55Enjoy watching them play football. David Hobbs got hurt. He only played 10 snaps. Nathan Robinson a bit banged up 31 snaps. Evelyn Spillman 33 snaps and have very good grade 52.7. Ariane Carter 54 snaps 43.1 percent was his grade. Also made over $3,000 due to his eight tackles for cancer research. I'll continue to update that all season long. Love that man for him doing that. That's incredible. Tim Merritt tough day. Tough day. 16 snaps 32.5 percent was his grade. Three passenger parents calls on one dry late in the fourth quarter. Ethan Outley 20 snaps 29.9 percent was his grade. So what fantastic there. Tackling Tennessee at 13 missed tackles too many. Okay, that's too many. They're on opening drive, but like it looked like in real time, he came down and bit hard on the play action. But if it was a blitz, he was very laxed days ago with that blitz or guardless. If that was a blitz, the other say they didn't get over in time, but I just thought like it looked like miscommunication because if that was a blitz,

And then on the Braille and Staley touchdown, he was he was brought in in motion. So they kind of pass him off. And then Savion Riley, the safety I'm talking about number 13 for Georgia Tech, just gets lost in no man's lane goes underneath the routes. Instead of over the routes gets, you know, trailing backside hip and never had a chance. It felt like tough day there for the strong safety for Georgia Tech, I'd number 13 in that football game. I guess the last thing I want to look at is I've worked them in Doza and what he did. See here, of course, he was 26 of 42, 21, one touchdown, two picks, one was a one was a pick six, 65% completion. I thought he made a couple of throws that were pretty impressive. Also, when you have a six foot nine tied in, when you throw over a backer in front of a safety, six foot nine, it's good to throw to a guy like that, right? 32:02Doza's pro football focus grade was 56.2 on 76 snaps. So obviously not great. Let's look at what he did. He was he was 0 for one on balls deep down the field. He was three of seven in the intermediate realm for 58 yards short intermediate short passing game is where he got Tennessee. He was 20 to 25 162 yards in a touchdown. That's where he got Tennessee. And then behind a lot of scrims, he was three of four for one yard in that football game. He was kept clean on 20 of his 30 dropbacks to when he completed 66% of his passes. He was under pressure on 10 on 31% of his dropbacks. He was six of 10. In that regard for 65 yards, Tennessee blitzed him 31% of the time and he was six of 12. Okay, so about 50% when Tennessee blitzed him and when Tennessee didn't blitz him, that was 68% of the time. He was 2428. So overall again, was it the best football game for Tennessee? No,

33:02but did a whole lot of things. And honestly, I was impressed that you went down there and you committed as many penalties as you did. And you still walked out of there with a three touchdown victory just because you're clearly better than that team. So hats off to the 300 yard a day for Tennessee on the ground. The Sean Bishop was fantastic to one more. I do want more. It was really good. I was impressed with him. Javin Gordon looked like seeing some photos and videos of him after the game looks like he's not seriously hurt. So that's awesome to hear. We'll keep tabs on that this this week. Couple other quick hitters. Rderi Shax and I thought look good. I don't think he solidified water sea room number three, but I thought he looked good. And I guess that was it.
