Now, joining me to look ahead to the weekend and sport as our sports editor, Derek Lynch, good morning to you. How are you? Not too bad at all. A bit for us to get through, so we'll start with our live game this weekend. In fact, it's this evening and it is crunch time for Coruffin and Dora Bearfield in the Senior Football Championship. Here, Castle, the venue for that particular game throw in from half seven and one spot left in the quarterfinals. So set the scene for us. Yeah, because first of all, it's a very tight turnaround for both clubs. It would have been out of the weekend, you're talking less than a week, essentially. So that's going to be the challenge for management, I suppose. And then, funnily enough, both come in in good enough form, albeit Dora Bearfield came after back of victory, Coruffin after back of defeat, but then they've been very, very pleased with their performance in defeat to Climori last Sunday. And Dora Bearfield obviously knew that it was a huge prize for them in beating Climal. They would have been hoping other results might have worked out their way that they could have maybe avoided this particular round, but here at the air, as they said, and they have to just go on deal with it. I think a lot of this is going to come down to, and we still don't know, I don't know
if they had the Scouts out in the airport or not, if Jamie Milone is back in the country again, he left to head back out to the Middle East for his teaching. And there was word that he was being brought back for this game because that's the magnitude of it. We don't know 100% on that. And there's also some concern in the killing, McGrawrey for Coruffin who's been kicking up a storm with two pointers that he's picked up a bit of a knock as well. So if he's out, that's a huge loss. I don't believe Tom Kurnes appeal against the suspension for his recurrent was successful. So I think he misses out tonight, but Orin O'Connell and a few more should be back for to repair. So we'll be an awful lot. Why is the response about 20 past seven when we get the teams confirmed and stuff like that, but it's a huge, huge game. Like for one, their season is over for one, David, two week break to a quarter final. So it is season defining, I guess, in every sense of the word. The fact that, you know, it's a tie turnaround, but one team is coming into it, having won the their game last weekend, you know, having lost how big or otherwise part. Do you think that's going to play? I'm so I don't think it's a huge part simply because I think Coruffin would have been
encouraged by the performance. And you know, Climore, obviously, a contender for the senior title, Coruffin, were just up from intermediate last year. So on that respect, you know, to run to four points, I think it was, and ultimately the three Climore gold. So that's what won the game for them. Three, nine to 14 points. That's, you know, that's 14 scores, players 12, if you want to break it home in that sense, you know, so that's a big one from their point of view. And I think, yeah, Doravir, feel the party under a bit of pressure in the sense that there were last year's beaten county finalists. So they would be expected to be back in the knockout stages. I think for Coruffin, they can go and play this game with a bit of a band and a bit of freedom because, you know, as I said, there are intermediate champions from last year. When you come up, consolidation is target number one. That's achieved, obviously. So now they can kind of go and have a right call after tonight, but it's a very, very congested schedule for Coruffin in particular because they have a massive intermediate rolling game on Tuesday night. Now again, I think that's on against, I think it's six mile bridge to our plane if I'm not mistaken. So we'll correct me on that fixture, but which or whether they've two, I would have had
three, I suppose, massive championship games in a very, very short space of time. But I suppose that is the drawback when you're a successful jewel club, like what they are. They'll have to deal with it, but I suppose tonight is their sole focus for the moment. OK, we'll move on to ladies football and senior championship. We know Climber, you're breaking and banner are into the semi finals. Looking to meet them will be one from each of these ties. Camel gone up against Fergus Rovers and it's door of air for the versus Lyskanner. Yeah, I suppose they're two really intriguing games for a couple of reasons. Climber held champions, obviously, they'll hold the favorite tag going into that game. Fergus Rovers are, I think, queens in waiting for one to better phrase because they've had savage success at underage level, the last couple of seasons. I think I saw some are joined week and both are A and B teams were in under 16 final together. That'll tell you how dominant they are at underage. So they are, they're a team in waiting, but I think they might have to wait a little bit longer than this year because I think Climber will have the bit between their teeth. A lot will depend on the fitness of either considering.
She picked up a hamstring injury two weeks ago. Don't think she featured in the koal. He last week for Climber. He either saw, I know they've been big game tonight and that is what we'll touch on against the market. So that'll be a huge one. There will be a huge availability. That'll be another huge one. So you'd expect Camel should just have enough to come true. The other games in intriguing one because you had to have air filled in a final two years ago and Lyskanner have kind of been knocked on the door. They've got really good underage success. They've got really good experience players in the likes of the, you know, the constantly sister's a Marie Indos and Shannon Kegney I think is a forward great dealer class. One of those finishers like she's brilliant soccer player as well but just has an eye, a natural eye for gold. She knows how to finish that old column Cooper thing of pass it into the corner rather than try to take the net off the hinges. You know, so she's got that about her. So I think they'll see this as a huge opportunity. It's unabove in in in more her. They were very filled certainly not the team. They were against the counter final. Big turnaround in the terms of the players available. Obviously the two girls, she or friend Ashling are over in Australia. They're trying to trade there as well. So they're two huge losses over team.
So I think Lyskanner will smell a bit of blood this weekend and just don't say that they can't make use of it. Okay. Meanwhile in the intermediate championship, Kugels up against Koshin and Miltown versus Kilrush and winners of each of those games will join coreclare and do beg in the last four in the Clarecred union senior Kamogee championship. Ina Kellmann as a defense of their title continues. Take us through the fixtures coming up. Yeah. Big one from Ina Kellmann point of view, if they win, they'll probably secure. Well, they should. They'll be confident of secure in place. And semi finals and then it'll come down to the last game with Climedy potentially for top spot. Maybe breading the real big fix to all of this. I mean, the two games in group two with the greatest respect to probably four gun conclusions like Scarif or Conlon, Trukland Lara will be far too strong for tolla and Dora Bearfield. So I think we can kind of write those off as victories again for the bigger teams in those for Climedy and the Marcus. It's a massive, massive game because despite the fact that no markets that top last week and losing to climedy, Quinn, Climedy won.
There again against like Castle Valley, but if no market were to win tonight, they would take the head to head advantage on over Climedy and knowing that Climedy have Ina Kellmann in the final round. So while they've been disappointed with the feet last weekend, they can rectify and off. And I'll have it tonight. It is head to heads that come into play when two teams are level three or more. It's a scoring different scenario, but Climedy didn't obviously know that they can win tonight. They will have no market on the head to head. Can be cut then it's effectively two or three and a half points and offer to see the end of that since. And then going to the game when I became a limona, the next time I'll have a right caught it may be finishing top of the group. So we'll be a lot, lot of wise, I suppose, as to the makeup of the semi finals because obviously there are crossover semi finals. The first team in group one plays the second green team in group two and vice versa in the semi finals. All those pairings I would imagine might become a little bit clearer tonight. OK, so I'd like to see you this evening. It is. Yeah, six a talk as ever. And tonight, yeah, we'll be looking forward to that game, obviously, and those ladies football
quarter finals, but also continuing our more than a club series where I was delighted to make the long, long journey from Quilty to Milton Melbitt there that's weak. So taking the age. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was all the nice, but that's what happened to me a few detours on the way home. But the the leds in Milton, they've put up a brilliant new club host there in the last couple of months. So Danny McElendon, Mikey Ho and Frances Lynch were kind enough to welcome us in there to have a chat. So we'll hear about all that tonight. Great stories of old stories of the club that have gone to their rest and memories that they've left after the malder rest. But so that'll be on tonight along with everything else. OK, brilliant stuff. And of course, following heart on the heels of that is that senior football clash between a Corfin and a Dura Bear Field from half seven. Derek, thank you very much.
