Several countries pull out of Eurovision after Israel's inclusion

Today Explains

About this episode

Four countries—Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Slovenia—have officially announced their withdrawal from the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in protest of Israel being allowed to compete.
The move follows a general assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the body that organizes the event, where members decided against holding a vote to exclude Israel, despite pressure from several nations over its military actions in Gaza.
