Several countries boycott Eurovision after Israel allowed to compete

Four countries have announced their withdrawal from the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in protest of Israel's continued participation. The nations boycotting the event are Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Slovenia. 
The controversy stems from the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) decision not to exclude Israel from the competition despite calls for a ban over its military actions in Gaza. The EBU, which organizes the event, maintained that the contest is between public broadcasters, not governments, and that the Israeli broadcaster KAN meets all participation requirements.
