1:04Jacksonville were trying to start and turn the page from that game last week to this week. I still give the jags at worst. You know, at what's the worst grade you could give the jags for that performance? To me, it's about a B minus because the fourth quarter, they allowed a team to come back and beat them. Their offense ran out of ideas basically by the fourth quarter. They had they struggled in that football game. However, they struggled in that football game to what I believe we all think is an elite team. Like I really look at the jags and Broncos right now and through two weeks and there is a lot of football left. We're going to have injuries. We're going to have things happen. But to me, the jags and the Broncos are

2:06upper echelon AFC teams. I thought the jags would take a step back. It still can happen because the jags have a hell of a schedule here coming up over the course of the next few weeks. I said it before. They they have a tough start to this season. I mean, the jags now after going one and one in their first two games. It's why I said Cleveland was a must win for the jags. And I know week one must win. How dare you say that. But it was Broncos, Patriots, Bengals, Eagles, Texans after that all before the buy. Two of those games are in London. So this Patriot game looms large for Jacksonville at home. What a great measuring stick because you just got done. I mean

3:08you just got done playing in the elite defense. Their coverage is really good. I think on the back and they might be the best team in the league. Like of what I've watched in a couple of games. I mean look, yeah, they got beat by the chiefs. Go look at what my homes numbers were throwing the football. Take away what was it? The 59 yard throw to Kelsey and week one. There's not much there. So if you look at the back end of Denver, that's elite. Now look at the Patriots defense. Pretty damn good too. This Gonzalo sky at that corner. He's pretty special too. My worries about the jags through a couple of weeks. How effective can they be running the football? Because Tutan there is fine. And I get they got rid of now was it 8chan, 8chan, whatever the

4:09heli wants to call himself. I don't give a damn. But they've got to be able to run the ball better. That to me is key. I love their receivers like Parker Washington's a stud. He's an absolute stud. Nearly 100 yards receiving in the game. Thomas, you better quit dropping the damn football. That's that's a problem. I mean, that's a flat out problem. You didn't put boonics down in the backfield. Zero sacks. One of the things we worried about with Jacksonville was not their run defense of which it was very good against Denver. But can you get the quarterback down and win, you know, as the game wears on and you get more and more plays, it's obvious that the defense becomes a little more

5:12porous. But you ended up with less than 100 rushing yards for the game. You held Denver to write around 100 rushing yards. The couple of drops hurt. You've got to find a way to get more offence. But again, I think the I mean, you're talking about Denver who led the league in sacks last year and have as good of a defensive backfield as anybody in the league. So I'm not going to sit there and pound on what the numbers were in this game. But now you've got New England. They've got a pretty good defensive game as well. They can get to the quarterback. They've got a good defensive backfield. So it's another matchup this week at home with New England. To me, that stopping the run because New England had some nice runs with Henderson's court of big touchdown against Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh's got a nice defense. But that game, what 23 total points in that game, you know, how many I don't see this game getting much over 35 total. Can you win that type

6:13of game and can you find because you've got to be able to find that open receiver. So I want to see him run the ball more effectively and have the play action set up some of the passing for Jackson ville this week against the Patriots. But this is a, this is an interesting game because after that, then you go to Cincinnati. Then you've got two in London with Philadelphia and Houston. Jacksonville talked to me 21,000 Pelican roofing a Florida text line would love to hear from you. If I told you that you're three and three coming back from London, are you signing up for that? And, and I'll tell you what, I'll even put a caveat on it. You're three for three, but you beat Houston. So you win one game on a New England, Cincinnati and Philadelphia. And I think you'd all take whether it's New England or since he because if you lose to Philly, it's an NFC game and it doesn't matter as much in tie breakers, etc. But if I told you you were three and three coming back from that,

7:21would you take it? I would, I would right now. I'd love to see him for and two, but I would certainly take that start that, that to me with what's going on in the AFC and look at you know, Houston, they play Indianapolis this week. So the Texans, you know, they, they're next three unlike you before they play, they're at Indy. I mean, we'll see, but I think that's, I, I would pick Houston in that game. They host Dallas. That's a fascinating game in and of itself. One team can score it well and can't stop anybody and the other seems to be on the other end. Thought I had to sneeze there. I actually almost had to take a sneeze break and if it comes back again, I will. Then they're at Tennessee. Well, that's a win before they go to Jacksonville and they come back for the giants. They actually play in London and don't have a buy coming off of that. So when you know, who knows how long. Darts going to be out with the injury, the MCL that they think

8:28it is, but it could be a couple of weeks, but regardless, you know, their little run much easier than yours. So I fully expect that the Oh and two Texans by the time they play Jacksonville at worst are two and three. And I think very well could be three and two. I think they could win their next three. If I said they won road games in Indian Tennessee and beat Dallas, would you be that surprised? So, you know, very early, but it's why our, our shoelace Joe sports cafe poll question is up, which Oh and two team will make the playoffs by the way between a decent amount of votes on X not not breaking the, you know, doors down here yet. And inside the Twitch and YouTube chat room, basically the chargers have a vote Indianapolis around 20% of the votes. Houston and the upper 30s and the bucks over 40. So that's how we sit as far as what you think. I picked Tampa

9:31because of the division. If I were to pick an Oh and two team, I'll go with the bucks. But you Houston, they can get it done as well. And in fact, we had three Oh and two teams a year ago, all make the playoffs. Carolina, Chicago and the Houston Texans all lost their first two. Houston lost their first three and still qualified for the postseason. So it's not a death nail. It's, it's been 11% since the year 2000. If you take the 25 seasons into account, you got about an 11% success rate of Oh and two teams started. You're at about 64% for the two and Oh teams. And the two and Oh teams so far on the year Buffalo. I think we all believe they're a playoff team since an addy stay healthy. They're a playoff team. Kansas City. I think they're a playoff team. The Raiders know the Eagles. Absolutely. The Vikings will see and Seattle and San Francisco

10:37look as if they are both playoff teams. In fact, San Francisco has looked tremendous through two weeks. One of them was the dolphins, but they beat up on the Rams in that game. And Australia, Sean Payton after the Monday night when kind of picking on himself about the travel and the trip to Australia and what he decided to do may not have been the right move. So that's just kind of a look at the two and Oh teams. And you know, I love it when fan bases give me a hard time because I'm not loving on their team. Well, the two and Oh Raiders aren't going to the playoffs. Okay. You're in the same division with Denver, Kansas City, and yes, you beat the chargers. I get it. I understand the chargers are off to an Oh and two start right now. Would you as a Raider fan take the bet more wins chargers or Raiders? You name the bet. I'll take the

We have no idea if Mendoza is going to be average good, great. No idea. You know, Jake and I went through the went through the exercise earlier in the show today of the quarterbacks that are in year four or less in which guys could be a franchise quarterback. So I'm not trying to say anything about Mendoza, but here's the list of guys that are playing in either their second year up to their fourth year. You've got CJ Stroud and Bryce Young. Does anybody trust either of those quarterbacks to be your franchise quarterback? Caleb Williams, Jane Daniels, Drake May, Bo-Nex. Now I was not high on Bo-Nex. Do I think that he can be better than, you know, half the top half

12:42quarterback so far looks like he can be. The first interception was awful. His fourth quarter was really good in the connection with Waddle starting to happen. Drake May, I think it's a good quarterback. Caleb Williams, I think it's a really good quarterback. Jane Daniels can't stay healthy. Jane Daniels, I mean, I love Jane Daniels. I'm the president of vice president of his fan club, but the kid can't stay healthy. And then Cam Ward, Tyler Schuch, Jackson Dart, Dart, I love, but I wouldn't bet on him because I don't know with his style if that's going to work long term. Cam Ward's on a bad team. We'll see. Jake and I broke down some college football and a little NFL quarterback talk earlier. Talked a little Jags there. You know, I'm annoyed by this, but maybe in Tampa, it's okay because you know, the bucks are off to a rough start. They truly are. It is not going how a lot of us anticipated. Sure, losing the first game, that's fine. I mean, it happens. You played it since an Addy, since an Addy is a competent team, but to lose to the Browns with the Vikings undefeated Vikings on deck and then the Packers and then at Dallas and Dallas, obviously can score. We know that. So, you know, Carolina through two weeks for what it's worth, they're better than I thought they

14:50were going to be. We'll see how that goes. You know, they got pounded by the Bears, but scored a bunch of points. That game was tied in the third quarter in the thirties and then they beat the crap out of Atlanta and Atlanta is just a hot mess of garbage right now. So we'll see, we'll see about Carolina. I still think Tampa can win the division. You know, it would be nice to see him get the other two because I thought winning two or three in this homestand was important. Now you've got a beat Minnesota and Green Bay to do that. And I don't think that's a foregone conclusion. The past rush has not been there. The offense has been stagnant mostly because Baker Mayfield's played mid as the kids say or at best missed a lot of open receivers. You know, when Pat Kerwin, who was on earlier and he talks to Todd Bolts every Monday. And I did not hear yesterday's because I was relieved of my pickup duty of Carpool because the wife had the day off and I snuck out on the golf course and she played pickup. So I did not hear Pat's interview with Bolts. But

15:55the previous Monday, the answers were as short as he's ever given. Like he wanted that interview to be over with before it started. And these guys, you know, these coaches that go on shows, it's one thing to come on with some y'all who like me and have me ask you questions. You got Jacob Hester who played in the league and Pat Kerwin who has, you know, held every front office job there isn't the league. They respect those guys. And I mean, Bolts couldn't wait to be done with that interview. So I'm curious of just how high the tension is in Tampa right now for their football team because like I said, Carolina looks a little better than I thought New Orleans. We thought was going to be sneaky good in Atlanta. Atlanta appears to be a grease fire. We'll find out with Panics back how much that changes things. But last night, there was a promotional advertisement that happened during Monday night football in which I went, oh my goodness. Do you know that one week from today, the NHL regular season starts

17:06September 29th. We get Carolina raising their banner because they just puke on teams in the south because they did it to the Panthers last year. And now Carolina plays like a five o'clock game. The Panthers had to play the early game last year so we can put on something, you know, I'm guessing the Rangers or penguins have to be at eight. But the triple header to start the season is a week away. And after the Panthers a year ago, they had to deal with all kinds of injuries, not, not at all the season that was expected. But after three deep playoff runs in a row, you have to wonder if they're just needed to be a reset button for the Florida Panthers. And they go out and get Brady Kachuk. They got the Kachuk brothers and, you know, Paul Maurice in the press conference that I won't play the Chuckies. I think he called them and

18:08bent it on the same line because they'll end up in jail. We know they're going to be physical. We know they're going to be good. Was listening to a little bit of the Chicklets podcast in which one of them and not, not be synced at one of the other guys and I apologize. But I said, how do I not say hi on the Tampa Bay Lightning? And I am fascinated by the lightning this year because we talked about it a while back. Victor headman is back. He appears to be in a really good mental spot. And it's so weird for me to talk about this. Because younger generations pay far more attention to their mental health than we were ever allowed to. If we would have said I needed a mental health break, the odds are in our 20s, if we would have said that, the odds are we would have been fired or looked down upon or they would

19:14have been waiting for an opportunity to fire us. It is difficult for me to think a hockey locker room can take their captain back after he left them because of mental health. I am not discounting mental health issues at all. I'm really not. I am just merely saying that as someone who's 57 years old, I have to, I have to. It's not a you problem. It's not a Victor headman problem. I just have to really look upon athletes a little differently than I ever did before. Because if I were in that locker room and my captain quit on me for mental health, I'd be like, what the hell? And that doesn't seem to be the case. But while everybody's talking about the Panthers and the Chuck brothers and Barcaf being back, you know, Mark Strums the Goldy will see

20:14there. You know what they have in Tampa? They've got a Vasiletsky and he's still pretty damn good. The problem is they've got to figure out a way. Like I don't worry about regular season Tampa one bit and we're not anywhere near April. So it's way too soon to talk about. But Kutcheroff, who by the way, gave one of the best comments recently, basically talked about how dumb the, yeah, the talents never been played better, but the players never been dumber. Like that's interesting because the game's fast. It's full of skill. How smart's the NHL player, but they start a week from tonight. And just in Florida, just in Florida, are you sure that the Panthers are that much better than the Tampa Bay Lightning? I don't know. I'm fired up to see it. I mean, literally was talking with

21:19the wife a couple of days ago, we got to make our way to Tampa for a game. We got to, we got to get someone to watch the kid. We got to go up and take it a game and spend the night and do dinner and Tampa. You guys all know how much I fell in love with Tampa in my four months there last year or earlier this year, I should say, but are we sure that a team that didn't make the playoffs a year ago can just take that year off and go back to assume the spot of being the best team in the east. I will say the state rivalry is great. It's amazing. Montreal's really fun. They're incredibly young. They've got all these guys locked up when Kale McCars getting whatever 20 million a year in Colorado. You got three talented players playing for Montreal for about that same amount of money. And they're locked for a few years. Like Caulfield and Suzuki and a couple others. So I mean, look at

22:21look at look at that Montreal team and go, wow, you know, Buffalo will see if they can keep on keeping on the Rangers think they made some moves to get better. They've got gold tending. We'll wait and see, but I'm not ready to give you my NHL season preview yet. I'm just saying in state, in state, it should be ridiculously good. So that's, I couldn't help it. The previews got me last night. I was torn because I'm watching the preview for opening night. I know I'm going, this is two damn early. I'm going, I know I'm going to watch at least two games. I can't wait. I mean, right now I've got Monday night football. I walk right into Tuesday not hockey. I like a candy candy store here. So a week away from the NHL will probably get a lightning and panther preview in the next couple of days to really mess with everybody in the midst of football season,

25:23a great SEC week. You've got Oregon and USC. So that's a big game for both. Obviously, Oregon's got, I mean, Oregon to me, you know, if the ducks don't win this week, just for what it's worth. Here's Oregon who was picked to be if not the best team in the big 10, you know, at worst three. So they already blew this game against Oklahoma state. Now they're at USC. Remember, they have to go to Columbus. If they lose this week, that means they essentially have to run the table to get in because nine and three Oregon ain't getting in. No way. I mean, they get Michigan at home. That's fine. They get UCLA at home. They should win that game. But I don't know how you can trust this team right now. They play Washington at home. But if they don't beat USC on the road, that means, well, you got to beat Ohio state on

26:24the road. And I'm not sure that this Oregon team's ready for that. I don't know why we were fooled because the one thing Dan Laning did from the get go and it was started by his predecessor is build them at the line of scrimmage. And I thought they were better there and they got dominated in game. So they didn't look good against Boise. Obviously got clobbered against Oklahoma gave up 300 yards rushing. So I, you know, USC coming off of where they looking ahead against Rutgers, you shouldn't be if you're USC. And by the way, Lincoln Riley, holy Toledo. We're not going to take a road, you know, the crowd, the crowd, the road games, the road environment. There were like 12 people at that rusted Rutgers game, bro. Don't ever say something that dumb. Just say we sucked. You know, you stick with the whole fake punt through you off. But

For the bad, we go to Florida, Nassau County, where the Lego bandit has been apprehended. Everything about that phrase is ridiculous. But deputies chased down a man known as

28:27the Lego bandit. He apparently was targeting target where he had thefts on August 18th, 26th and September 12th. And Ronald Tipton was apprehended after going to his store in Ulye, selecting several high dollar Lego sets and leaving the store. Apparently, he tried to do it again at a Walmart. And this time the Walmart asset protection team member confronted him. He ran from the store. Sheriff's office tried to get in front of the U-Haul. He was in and opened the door, but he fled and struck the detective in the arm with the open door. He then began to drive in a erratic and dangerous manner, causing deputies to initiate a pursuit. They stopped the U-Haul by pinning it against a tree with a patrol vehicle in the parking lot. He was taken into custody

29:32and charged with fleeing, injure your damage to an officer and retail theft. Apparently, it was a Lego ring, so the Lego bandit has been apprehended. For the ugly we go to New York where Danielle Tumon was celebrating her 47th birthday. She was in Long Island. She was in her backyard. She's having a day. 47. It's have some drinks, everybody. Instead, she fell into an eight foot sinkhole in her backyard. She said it was weird. It happened so fast. I was just down an eight foot hole with water inside. Apparently, she was unable to climb out because the stone around her was crumbling. She said it's my birthday. It might be my death date. I couldn't breathe while I was gasping, scared and crying, but two neighbors were able to hear her. Unfortunately,

30:36they were able to get a ladder to her with emergency responders called and get her out of the sinkhole. And that, my friends, is the good, the bad and the ugly on today. September the 22nd. 31:40Uh, the J's and Orioles both trying to fight for a playoff spot. But the Orioles winning last night put Toronto in a serious problem to try to make that last playoff spot. I would say Toronto's got a damn near went out to get in. Brewers and fillies big game for both in a different way. Brewers trying to be the one seed fillies trying to avoid being the six seed. Still a lot on the line for the wild card. Uh, cards and pirates, nats and tigers, whatever. Guardians and Red Sox. The Guardians with a slim lead in their division. The Red Sox are locked up in the five hole. But I think they'd like to spoil Cleveland's fun. That one going on tonight. A Reds and Braves. The Braves are locked into the three spots. So that one means nothing. The Marlins are in Chicago to take on the Cubs. Cubbies right now tied for the top wild card spot. Can they get the four seed

32:42and then home field for the wild card series? White Sox on the road in Kansas City. The White Sox are a wild card team right now. But they can still win the division. And that would be the two seed. That's how bad the American League. And particularly the American League West is speaking of the A.O. West, the 500 Texas Rangers are at home against the Metz. They lead the Astros by a game. Arizona, they're about done. I think they have to win out to have a shot at a playoff spot. They're in Colorado. No better place to try to win out than playing in Colorado. Angels and athletics means nothing. Houston in Seattle. Houston's got to figure it out here at the end of the year if they can get a playoff spot and win their division. It doesn't look like they can be a wild card team. So they're going to have to out of the last six. They got to win a minimum of four, I think, to win the division.

33:46We shall see twins and giants and then Padres and Dodgers. That's actually a big game for both. I mean, the Dodgers still can be the, the one seed. I don't know how much that matters to the Dodgers. And I don't know what point they start setting up their rotation because they've got the off day. So they don't really need to. The Padres on the other hand are playing just incredible baseball. They are tied for the top wild card spot. I don't know if you want. I mean, the Padres, if they can stay hot, holy cow, they have been impressive here in the last two and a half weeks. Will that continue Yamamoto on the bump tonight for the Dodgers? So that's what's going on in the world of baseball for those of you that care on ESPN, the Indiana fever are on so you can watch a little Caitlin Clark for those of you that are in to the WNBA tomorrow, David Bareman on

I may be more interested in Perks trip out west. I know he was going to spend a couple days in Oakland a couple day in the Bay area. I may just focus on what his trip was about. We may not even talk dolphins because oh boy, it's going to be a long year. I made a bet with one of my golfing buddies who he's from upstate New York and for whatever reason about three years ago, he decided I'm all in on the dolphins not the bills. What a bad move that was. And so we bet the over under and I we may have bet 50 bucks. I don't remember what it was. It might have been 20, but he's trying to he was trying to get a buyout after two games yesterday. He was literally like can I just give you five bucks and we call this bet over with right now. He's even bailing on him and he, you know, he has adopted this team as his own great show today. But Elliott got into some serious college football discussions.

35:53You know, the one thing we didn't really get to and I'll leave the show with this is that because of Louisville's win, but made the point and it was an excellent point that because of Louisville's win over SMU, that boats really well for an old mis team. In fact, he's like, Hey, old miss might be able to pull off the nine and three and get in. Now remember, for what it's worth, old miss at Florida this week, they're at Texas in late October. They host Georgia and they go to Oklahoma. They play Vandy. They play Missouri. So I mean, not an easy schedule. But you know, they're not favored this week against Florida. How that is is beyond me. But that's the one side of it that the Louisville winning and this was important for uh, old miss. You know, how good Louisville was was really going to help old Mrs. Credentials. Take that the other way because if you look at Louisville after that game, well, now Louisville to

37:00me, they look like a team that could very well end up as ACC number two. You tell me the next time that the Louisville Cardinals aren't favored in a game. Wake Fort us this week at NC State. I mean, don't you think N B NC State's a team that could just fall apart after that loss last week. Home for Florida State at Syracuse. Home for Stanford at Georgia Tech at North Carolina. Home for Pit and at Kentucky. Maybe at Kentucky. Maybe I mean, it doesn't mean they can't screw it up. I don't know that defense. If if they're going to have a game in which maybe the offense doesn't show up, could they give up too many points to not beat somebody? I mean, we watched look at Florida State played SMU tough. They played Bama tough for two quarters. So actually three quarters against

38:02Bama. So I mean, it's not that these games are all cake walks, but just from the standpoint of what Las Vegas thinks Louisville throws up an 11 and one and their only losses to old miss. I don't care what happens. I mean, they would have to lose 50 to nothing to Miami to not get a bid. So the ACC with Louisville beating SMU and remember now, see, because if SFU won that game, they still had to go to Notre Dame. So I do think very early in the season, I know there's a lot of things that can happen, but Jeff Brom can coach Louisville now in a position, at least to me, where if I were to make playoff predictions based on two weeks, which is a stupid exercise, but people do these sort of things for clicks.
