From the Fairbanks Museum in St. John's Burry, this is the Ion LaSquare Recreational Forecast. Conditions will start out as manageable today, but the weather will deteriorate as we head into the afternoon. A few showers are possible this morning, especially in Northern Vermont, then clouds will gradually thicken and visibility will begin to lower at the higher elevations. As we move into the afternoon, more widespread rain will develop as warmer and more humid air moves in ahead of this approaching warm front. Winds will also become noticeably stronger, especially along the higher ridge lines. Gussie conditions could make for some of the more exposed trails dangerous. A few thunderstorms are possible and any storm could bring a quick burst of heavy rain, strong winds and even lightning. For anyone planning to hike today, the morning is preferred. Wet trails and increasing rainfall will make
for slower travel, even though temperatures will be fairly mild, getting wet while exposed with wind can lead to a rapid loss of body heat. Overall, we're in store for a calm morning with conditions becoming more unsettled throughout the day. Stay safe out there. I'm meteorologist Megan Nuggin with an eye on the sky.
