From the Clark Ford Studio in Oxford, Mississippi, MBW Digital proudly presents the Oxford Exxon podcast. And say thanks for tuning in, but why am I going to give you a round of applause for something you're supposed to do to be frank? And now, here are your hosts, Chase Pawn. And Broadcast School is really paid off. And be able to create it. I deserve to be on team. Welcome in to the Impina Vigil Post Game Show presented by RealTree for the third straight year. Good to be with you getting screen fixed up. There's Brian Riffy. There is Jeffrey Wright. I'm Chase Pawn from Neson Stadium where Ole Miss uses a 48-yarder from Lucas Carnero at the buzzard when 41-38. Open the little cardinals and move to 1-0 on the season. A win that makes these next 13 days far different than would have been otherwise hapless Charlotte up next for Ole Miss. I believe they lost an overtime to the Citadel on Saturday.

So Charlotte and then obviously LSU on the 19th. So we'll break it down here with you. Appreciate everybody in the stream. As always, I appreciate RealTree, your home for outdoor lifestyle, hunting needs, camo needs, RealTree.com. Look, they got recipes, they take care. All the products there with you at realtree.com. On the late night, Labor Day here in about an hour, Central Time. Appreciate Jeffrey and Brian right now jumping on it. At least as we break this one down, it's really bad. It's a force driving to say tell up two halves. But a lot of what we got, it was 10-6 and half time. The final 41-38 Ole Miss getting four touchdowns. And the second half out of Trinidad Chambers. Louisville has 351 yards of offense in the second half. It's a whole lot to break down here. Three main injuries, potentially to look at moving forward. We didn't see much of Kiwan Lacey in the second half. Jeffrey said, lower body, I will take his word on that. We're in the press box, so I didn't see much. Tommy Kinsler, I don't believe returned.

And then Keaton Thomas for out a good bit of the second half as well there. The linebacker, the Bayward transfer who has been was a captain today for the Rebels. So Jeffrey, what's going on with you? A lot to unpack here, but what are your two or three main goals to be going to go? I think first and foremost you have to start with disaster avoided. Especially one of those one and I talked about. And we talked about on Thursday's show what's the reaction like tonight. And I said, well, not trying to play into it, it's just a reality of it. What happens on Saturday night in Baton Rouge is going to really impact it. And I think what we saw last night in Baton Rouge is that is a very, very, very, very good football team. And whatever happened tonight is just always going to be some form of referendum, some form of indictment. And you get into tonight and man, it looked really clunky on offense.

They were obviously making mistakes. You know, it is still nice to know that Bryson Sanders has not learned how to stamp the football at the age of 24. But that would put them behind the sticks and it just didn't look clunky. And then think about the lacy injury. I think long term it's obviously it is a bad, bad thing because I think he's a heck of a football player. It almost for the sake of tonight, it felt like it was a better thing because Louisville was just daring Ole Miss to try and march it down the field and run it down the field. And Ole Miss was really, really trying to establish the run. And they against light boxes, they were trying to establish the run. When he goes out, it's almost like, all right, well we have this guy. We've got number six. And let's put the ball in his hands. And I thought in the second half, my God was he outstanding. I mean, you know, some of the plays that he makes will never show up on the statute.

I thought one of the biggest plays of the night is the missack where he could have gotten dropped for, you know, a loss of 20. And he's able to just get away from it. And really, I mean, just big throw after big throw. And then with his legs, he kept it going. And I think that's kind of where you have to sit right now. It's like, listen, was that the, when they're up 14 in the third quarter, you're heading into the fourth quarter and you're sitting there thinking like, okay, man, you know, hard fought. Like perfect game one, hard fought, but they're gonna, they're gonna put this thing away. And hey, there's gonna be enough to learn from week one to week two. And then all of a sudden, it's hold onto your butts. I mean, I think the other thing you have to give credit, he did not waste timeouts. And he left themselves enough time that he had number six. And Trinidad Chambers was the difference in the game because he got them all back with enough time.

I kind of was sitting there going, are they really gonna settle for a 58 yard field goal? They obviously got it a little bit closer. But yeah, he sat there and said, I trust this guy. And he's gonna make a kick. That's what we paid him for. And that's kind of the difference time. Because when you break it down statistically, man, there's not a whole lot of difference other than penalties, really. And the other key difference was both teams got it in the red zone twice. Ole Miss came away with two touchdowns. Louisville came away with 10 points. So when we're talking about these small margin of victory games, it's usually those type of big time down in distance or big time, you know, situational football that ends up making the difference. And both teams were about the same on third down so the key difference was the red zone. Yeah, Kiwan Lacey, everybody saying bone brews on that. I have no idea what the time table would or would not be. Maybe Jeffrey Bryan, you guys have an idea just in general for a running back that has that type of injury. But that appears to be the diagnosis that we know right now.

You know, Ole Miss. That was all the broadcast gave us. Listen, I'm not a doctor and I'm not. But oftentimes bone brews is just what they'll say when the guy's out. You know what I mean? He's out for the key. So I don't, they didn't do imaging. I mean, I will say it did look like the medical staff was working on him and you're worried about a ligament or whatnot. Usually they'll take you somewhere else. So I don't have any reason to believe that it's anything other than a bone brews. But I would at least, I would at least casually throw out. That is a term that oftentimes gets thrown out for something else. Bryan, play coach with me a little bit. Did you been a Jeff Brawl maybe with that amount of time left? Would you have contemplated going for two? Or do you feel like at that moment maybe they had confidence they were just scoring? You had 350 won again in the second half from a total offense standpoint for Louisville? Yep. So I was watching this with the buddy amount on our back porch. And for some reason it felt like if Louisville had scored with 20 seconds left, it felt far more likely that they would go for two.

Yeah, different two. Then when they scored with a minute and 28 or whatever it is, I'm not even actually sure why that's the case. Louisville had no timeouts and you're still giving the ball back to Ole Miss and Trude Ed Chambliss. I guess the difference, the obvious difference is if you scored 20 seconds left and you go over two and you get it, you don't really give Ole Miss much of a real shot. But for some reason it felt different when they scored that quickly. I would have probably gone for two, but I also understand why he didn't. But yeah, I mean, thoughts on the game as a whole. I thought Jeffrey described the offense, particularly in the first half perfectly, that clunky was the word I came up with too. Texting amongst people throughout the first half or three quarters of this game. It just felt clunky and disjointed, but I don't know. They got out of it with the win. Three or four busted coverages that looked pretty bad for them tonight. I guess, I mean, weak one produces weird results. But in terms of the newness of this team, to not give you the warm and fuzzies about solving the new aspects of this team, the offense looked better in the second half.

The injury piece of it is tough. It did say Bernbrew is on the broadcast. I have not a doctor. I've never been a running back, which is probably a shock given my big frame. But I don't know what a Bernbrew is entails. But I imagine we don't see if it is just a Bernbrew. You don't see Lacey until LSU again. I don't know what they gained by trying to get him back on the field next week. But just kind of a weird one, but they got out of it with the win. Yeah, and just a couple of things here from a stat standpoint. Oh, this ends up 488 total yards, Louisville 469. Trader Dan Chamble, despite the first half being what it was. A really nice statistical day, 21 of 36, 336, 3 touchdowns through the air. He did have the two turnovers, one interception, one fumble. And then he ran 9 times 60 yards, a touchdown on the ground. Also, Q1 Lacey 17 for 61. But cop, for Azure JT Lindsey, they did spell, okay. They were okay. And Lacey said, I thought they were a couple of big runs, or they got four or five. And just kind of stayed on schedule enough to give this my opportunities there.

A crazy going seven, Russia's 27 yards, Lindsey's seven for 25. And then do so, Alexander, by far the guy from receiving standpoint, five catches, 159 yards, two 62 yard touchdowns. As he ran away from the Louisville defense, a ratio of fields, five catches off seven targets. He had 47 yards, Lacey had four catches on the backfield, and then Caleb Odom ended up having a pretty nice day. 3 for 66, including the score. And then a play that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, Lacey put the ball on the ground there in the first half, and Odom fell on top of it. That would have been a huge turnover for Louisville. Because while the first half was clunky and sputtering and all these different things, you are talking about two plays that just kill two straight drives. When they were moving fine without those two plays, the Chamble is fumble after they converted to the ball. He picks up five on the ground, he fumbles. And then his jeopardy had mentioned the snap over Chambliss's head on the second play of the game, which completely took out the first drive. Caleb, Louis Shortfield, they turned it into two to three points.

So I do think there's a couple things here. Number one, you end up scoring 41 points. You can't act like the offense had some horrific day. Now, the offense line has got to get back healthy. Stay healthy. You have towns and out there at the end. You have Kenzler out there at the end. They can not suffer a bunch of injuries on the offense of front and get to where they need to go. So I think their help to me is as much of a monitor as Q1 Lacey moving forward. Because you had Hals in there at the end. You had Kendrick in there at the end. Sorry, Everett in there at the end. A guy who potentially was talking about hanging it up at one point during a preseason camp. So that offensive line, you were duct taped a little bit on that final series. So those guys have got to get out there as well. But just think and look at here and look guys. I know as you said, Jeffrey, because I agree with you. The mood coming into this game get have something coming off last night. And what happened in Baton Rouge against Clemson. Louisville is the top 25 team. They're not a bad team. I mean, you cannot grade this on the same note as you would grade a lot of opponents.

They're straight for the secondary. I thought early on they did a really good job of keeping everything underneath, making turn of that, check down, making him kind of take what was there. They isolated the run off the edges pretty good. I mean, where did you see through one game? And I know we do all the week one over reactions, but where do you sort of see Louisville after one game? I felt pretty good after tonight that again, I don't know if that'll be the second team in the ACC, but that's going to be it's either like them SMU. Probably that are probably going to push for that that second best team in the ACC. I mean, kind of holds is only going to get better. I mean, part of the story tonight, I'll give him credit. Ole Miss said we dare you to beat us. And if you look at some of those early chunk plays, it was because Ole Miss was like, hey, you're going to have to prove to us that you can make the throws. And then as the game went on, he got more and more comfortable. And then he, you know, he settled down and he played pretty well.

And, you know, he's clearly an effective runner. So like that was definitely a huge part of it. You know, but I mean, the larger issue is, I do not think that team stinks. There's probably at least five other teams at the minimum on Ole Miss's schedule that are probably going to be better than the Lovall. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, I think that's definitely true. But I mean, for a week one, I mean, you didn't get a warm up. No, I'm sure. Listen, there were not many teams that came out and played somebody this week. You know, as much as we give Oregon a free pass that I never understand for why, I give them credit, they played a real team, you know what I mean? And the same thing holds true for Ole Miss tonight. Like, is this the type of week one statement that you wanted to make? Not really, but guess what? You moved on.

And this was a real game, a real team. And now, you know, to Brian's point, there's no reason to play Lacey next week. But hey, you're shot in two weeks and like your second team should be able to be Charlotte. I mean, there are, and Bill Connelly says they're a plus. There are two teams, not FCS. I mean, division two teams that are ranked ahead of Charlotte. And our chat real quick. And our chat real quick. I see they're leaving the game as a nightmare. I can't imagine trying to get back across the bridge and get out of there right now. I'm kind of glad I'm taking a minute to get out of all the mess, the Ole Miss crowd. They announced 57,000. I'm going to assume if I had to just, I'm bad at this, but if I had to guess up right now, I'd say 30, 35 Ole Miss out of the 57, something like that. So we'll say 35, 22 give or take. Ole Miss is second and third levels. We're by far more fold than, than mobile levels.

But, but the level did bring a really good crowd. I think, you know, they're, they're not somebody we talk about all the time. We kind of forget they're only two and a half hours away. I mean, they brought a good, you're going to meet people here to, to Nashville in that. Everybody's talking about it. We're going to give a couple of super chats real quick. Thanks to Jason Greer, he's just thanks to the plus game therapy. Thanks to you. What happened to Denson? Didn't see him play. Did you guys see that? You got the television broadcast. I'm going to be, I'm going to be bad on some of those different things. Look, I think it's simple. Don't trust. Yeah. Yeah, I was saying, I think it's hard to believe. The television broadcast focused on one injury alone. Yeah, yeah. No, I get it. And there was five more weeks. I mean, I guess that's not true. They did technically show us, they showed us Franklin going to the locker room and they showed us do Salisander going to the locker room. But the only injury that we got an actual report on was, was Lacey. Yeah, everybody had a cramp. They'd show walking up the tunnel. But the only real injury they focused on was, was Lacey. A Marine, thank you.

Megan Swooping Clems, two week one makes me live. Clemson might go three and nine. Everyone in the chat, please calm down. Drew, Keaton Thomas, and later, can't Franklin being out affected the defense badly. In the second half. I mean, yeah, so they were, they were down some guys. There's no doubt about that. You know, look, you had two or three major busts that affected all those numbers from a secondary standpoint, not staying where they needed to be. And then Conholz wiggled out of some stuff. I mean, he is pretty impressive with his feet. He's a physical guy. Really, that play where he got away from Perkins. In turn, would have been an eight, tenured loss into a four-yard game that set up the touchdown pass there late that made it interesting and cut it to seven at that point. Where are we judging that back seven for Ole Miss defensively? Because you already win the game. I mean, they were really flying around. There was a point where Neil looked at me and goes, hey, I'm not sure if Oklahoma's going to be able to score much. Just because the way Ole Miss was dominating the front, they were really getting the edges. Isaac Brown did not kill Ole Miss out of the backfield at all, except maybe in the receiving game a little bit. It was the backup that hurt Ole Miss in the run game a little bit there.

So it's one game, but where, Brypia, let's you start this time. Where are we sort of making this Ole Miss defense and specifically the back seven? Well, I mean, I thought if you took away, I thought there were three major busts and then whatever the hell happened on that. Was that the second to last touchdown for Louisville? Where Ole Miss is 38-24 and the kid catches the ball by the sod on it all of a sudden. There's really no tackling involved, then they just runs at the end zone. But for me, some of that is like, other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln? Like, he can't really just dismiss that. But I thought they were good. Kind of the story of the defense as a whole, too, was like, they were good in moments, but bad in others. I thought there were times where the defensive line looked pretty dominant. And the front seven did in general, too. And then they just didn't tackle very well. I thought the same was kind of the kind of true for the defense as a whole. Like, he had three bad busts that come to mind. And then that last play I mentioned, but they were good in spots. I want to dite them as like a weak point on this defense yet. Because again, it's just, I don't know, a weak one. It's hard to make sweeping assumptions. But I saw, I saw reasonably why they can be as good as they were purported to be in fall, in preseason camp.

But at the same time, there's three busts and that one played that stick out. We're pretty, pretty bad. Yeah, to me, I think I stress think their issues are solvable because I did not see guys that looked out-manned. I saw guys that made like, they were at a position. But I didn't sit there and go, oh, of course that guy just got bodied because the guy is going up against a bigger stronger and faster. Like, more times than not, it was just dumb. Like, hey, you can't let somebody behind you. You can't come up and lose contain. It was more of that. I do also think a big story of this game was also, I mean, Chase has mentioned it. Guys, it's been hot as hell. And I think a big part of it was early in the game, Ole Miss's front was, and particularly the front seven, they were really controlling the game. And as the game wore on and Lovall ran more plays, they stopped being quite as effective.

And then what also combined with that was that Kindhold started getting, or Kindhold started getting a little bit more comfortable. He was nowhere near as shaky and jittery. And so he started making a few more plays. But I'm not as, I'm not like highlighting and flagging, oh, this defense actually sucks. But there are things that clearly Brahm felt like he could take advantage of. And by the way, there will be other, I think, Brahm's a fantastic coach, and a great play caller, and a great skimmer. But there are also other great skimmers and play callers in the SEC. And they're definitely going to look at some of the safety manipulation stuff that they did. Like, they're going to have to get better in terms of communicating and knowing where everyone's supposed to be. Can I throw one question on the other side of the ball? Sorry, Chase, not to derail you. There's nothing well to our Texan back in Vlott about is. So he mentioned, we talked about in the preseason of like this, this lawn that the offense is 80% the same.

Has been a very popular one that's been repeated over and over again throughout the offseason. And Weldon was adamant of like, hey, what Baker ran at ECU is a lot more like tempo, like hypo, more wad split-type stuff. And I don't know where y'all fallen this, but like the first half when it looked clunky is Jeffrey, like very aptly described. It was not a lot of throwing the football down the field. It was a lot of at the line of scrimmage or just past the line of scrimmage that looked clunky. But I'm curious like, where do y'all stand on like the offense is 80% the same as it was a year ago? Because again, tonight it didn't look that way to me, but I'm also not really that trained of an eye if that makes any sense. So where do y'all like fall on that aspect of it? Because I found that interesting from tonight. I mean, I, I, Jeffrey, I'll set you up for an answer here, but I mean, I, you know, because I saw everybody going, oh, it's air raid. Well, I mean, you don't really run air raid out of 12 personnel. But to me, it was more that Chamble was taking a lot of check downs. Louisville did a really good job deep in the secondary. Their safety's played well. Again, Louisville has two strengths on its defense that are far and away better than the rest of his defense.

It's its secondary and its defense events that do a good job of kind of crashing on the outside and keeping things contained and potentially getting past restruffing on what the opposite tackles do. And I just thought they were pretty good. I mean, I thought Chamble is, you know, he's, he's having to learn some new safety valves here too. I mean, there's not the chemistry maybe that you had with some guys last year or the automatic stuff that you had with guys last year. And I think there was a filling out period. And I just think that that wide receivers did not get separation early down the field and open to that. I didn't necessarily take it for JDB calling some different game that made for a different set of situations. I thought it had to do with the way the game was playing out. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I saw from the press box. A couple of things. Number one, I hate anytime the narrative is like, oh, it's 80% or whatnot. Guys, Lane ran, Lane was what, there are six years. Oh, yeah. The offense, the offense did not, year ones offense did not look anything like last year's offense, which didn't really look like the Matt Carral offense, which didn't look a lot like the, the, I mean, I remember when Levy left.

Like when Levy was there, I mean, remember how, how wide they would, how wide the receivers would get. I mean, I, Ripy, I guess I'm an answer this way. It's a football philosophy discussion that I hate, but it's very much this. Louisville sat there and said, we're not going to let him beat us with his arm. And we're not going to let these receivers get deep on us. We're going to light box it. We're going to make them run the ball down the field. Louisville had one tackle for loss. Like they were not trying to cause havoc. I mean, they blitzed a little bit, but most of the blitzing was always in passing situations, but it was not, I mean, look at how many more times Ole Miss run blitzed versus what Louisville did. I mean, Ole Miss was coming after it. To me, like the key difference there is Louisville was very much worried about daring Ole Miss's quarterback to throw, where Ole Miss was less worried about it from that perspective. So anytime you just, it will feel that way because essentially what they're saying is we are giving you the look that we want you to do what we know you're going to do, which is run the ball right at us.

And we're going to see if you can do that all night and be patient. And that's kind of why, like when we started the show, long term, I definitely think the Lacey injuries a problem, but it was almost like in the short term, it was maybe better for tonight because they got out of the hole. Let's just try to walk it down the field that was like, hey man, we got to get some shot plays in here. And you have two 62 Yarders, Alexander, you have the big throw up the scene. Like they started realizing like they were going to have to get more chunk plays than they were getting initially. Thank you for the Ben Moesis, where was Kern? That's something that's trusting right now. I mean, look, this has been a thing throughout camp. They have tried to give him every opportunity. He's had the all field stuff. He's had some effort stuff. I mean, Pete has called him out by name at times. It's somebody they need, but it hasn't been there. And they worked in a good bit in the last couple of scrimmages. And yet we're still in the same situation. And he's still in the same situation. It seems because they went to, they went to Troy Everett there at that point of in the second half when it was the, it was the money downs.

And you were in the five minutes to go win the game. So yeah, I just don't think that is, he just appears to not be a factor in that right now. And the best I can tell, you know, look, I'm going to phrase this not like a hot take playing off what you're talking about, but more of, I think it's something that will be proved true or untrue over the next few weeks. And it's, it's all missed currently after one game. Did they look like they were received or short? And I do think that's at least the conversation to look at moving forward. You had, you had to do set the big plays. You had a ratio, but I do think you're going to have to have, you're either going to have to get the title more involved or you're going to have to have somebody at least step up and be a little bit more of an option is this thing progresses because they essentially did that tonight throwing for, for three and change and whatever it was and scoring 41 points. But there was not a ton of efficiency throughout the receiving core in my opinion, just something more than a problem right now. That's where I'm at. How does Adam change that conversation because like they don't seem to know what he is, right? We got told all praises and camp he was only going to be a tight end and like he was mostly a tight end, but he split out a little bit too.

But if he can perform the way he did and I was consistent as he can that, I don't know if that makes you like not one receiver short, but that definitely gives you an option. They probably weren't totally relying on entering the year. Yeah, I'm with you chasing the sense of like flag it. I'm also open to the idea that you know we were told that the staff was very worried about depth at receiver and that a lot of guys maybe didn't practice as much and play as much in fall camp as you think. I'm open to the idea that it was more reps. It was kind of the knowing where everyone's going to be. I mean because part of the Trinidad stories it's a lot of off script and it's you know he gets outside the pocket it's scrambled drill it's knowing which guys are going to break to him like I remember one play. Forgive the time stamp, but it was a play where Trinidad I think it was most of the action was going to the left and he scrambled back to the right and he's waiting waiting waiting for somebody to come open.

Because he's done a good job of avoiding the sack and he's bought himself enough time and then like nobody's there. Like one guy was trying to come back to him, but that's like a hey I'm running for my life and you're coming back to me for like a six yard throw. Like I'm not going to I'm not going to do that. He just chunked it away. Like those are the types of plays that the more you play together like you'll you come off your you'll feel that Trinidad's got pressure and you'll come off your route and you'll start going across the field and you'll give him an opportunity to make a throw. I'm open to that being the case more so than hey they didn't spend enough money on that side of the ball. Well, I guess what I'm saying is an I'm sorry for me wish you watch it. I'm sorry for me wish what I would say is I'm an undecided voter on that one. I would need to see more proof either way. You know what I mean like no one has convinced me of this issue that I should vote one way or another. Well, the thing early on too they weren't on schedule enough to even get into a lot of rhythm to use tempo to get some receivers and spaces because I mean even in Charlie's offense and the lanes offense.

That's what you saw a lot of times you created Mitch matches off tempo and they simply were not able to do that during the first half because the way that the rhythm and the play was going on the game. So I mean I also want to decide it is worth it is one thing in all its talk is it is one thing to note here that Trilin Ray got a lot of snaps and there is improvement there but that mean that was a guy that you know wasn't wasn't near the field last year. So again this is one man's interpretation that was not there. I'm not doing post game. I didn't ask anyone. This was my interpretation of what I was watching. I thought the lack of tempo was an acknowledgement that it's how to shit and if we run a bunch of plays I do think I think one thing tonight showed when Ole Misses starters are out there that's a good team. Yeah, no doubt. But when you start getting into the depth like there's some oh my god they got picked on as we mentioned they got picked on a tackle they got picked on in the secondary like there are things to pick on.

And I interpreted a lot of the let's that because there were there were some also some opportunities where they could have gone gone gone and went with tempo and they kind of slowed it down. I thought that was more of a holistic approach to we got to survive the whole game. And you mentioned they getting picked on a tackle piece like the right tackle seems like a bad situation. I mean they started Kinsler and then when he got hurt they didn't go to turn which were the only two guys really heard about in preseason camp. And also when Kinsler is in the game like at one point they're like they like this cop but they're not totally sure he's in shape like I'm paraphrasing with the broadcast said. That's basically he basically said. Yeah, that doesn't that doesn't seem that seems suboptimal for number of different reasons and I when Kinsler went down and they didn't go to Kern and they went to was it I forget that kids name house or whoever they did straight after that that was surprising to me that they didn't go to Kern that you know Kinsler injury or not that doesn't seem like a great situation at all.

And again we don't know the situation with with Lacey maybe we'll get anything here in a minute but I'm I'm unaware is just a move forward again the TV broadcast just simply take say and bone bruise multiple times to see what it was again I thought they I thought they got spelled pretty well as a different thing I think you're putting the second third team and or third guys in a in pressure situations into the game there at that point in the second half can only potentially pay dividends should he come back and not be able to do that. And I think that's the way that he comes back and not it's considerable time because we're all pointed now toward not just I mean the first door in our site right now talking about the game in 13 days so not just necessarily that but moving forward this gauntlet that is coming because there is not another complete. And it's just the way the schedule is set up it's wild everybody's been talking about the slate as it as it is and that's where you're at here I mean you know Florida isn't improved both the they come right up real issue I mean you get you get a week as we've been saying it's essentially a JB team because yes Charlotte is absolutely pathetic they're one of the 11 last year and I think they might be worse if that is if that is possible so they'll be an Oxford you don't play anybody that is at all banged up with anything and then you you can kind of settle in for the the mode at that point I branching out just to get that out of the game and I'm not going to be able to do that.

I just want to touch more I guess being this is how it was atmosphere in the stadium the big time bowl game or boring. Well no almost was really loud I thought the crowd was great I don't know how much I'm being manipulated by being on that side of the field so the press box in the sun stadium is very low. I mean essentially right above the the very lowest level is where the press box is sitting and we were on the on the other side so it was it was it's it sounded like a home game when the rebels did something really good and you had a hard time hearing Louisville when they were cheering just because they were all the way across you could really hear their band at all and you heard Ole Miss is band very very loudly almost had a larger band here as well. As I said early in the show I think may now 57,000 and you just made me guess with a gun to my head I would say 57 to me 3722 something like that or 3522 something like that so another crowd was good. I thought for a for a neutral site game it's a good location obviously a city that Ole Miss fans really like a ton of alumni there and then being really close to Louisville so no that was not a problem whatsoever from from a atmosphere or a crowd standpoint it was good for both teams.

Branch not a little bit do you have really anything into the conference to to note I mean have good or you are you changing any major opinions that you're one week in anyway. I think you've made me bet today whether or not LSU's a title contender whether or not LSU is 758 and 4 I'm betting title contender. Well okay there's no doubt there. To me to me like the big the the biggest reason for optimism with LSU is I know the numbers were okay. Levitt's not that good like I feel confident saying levitt is the worst quarterback that Lane's had since returning to the SEC with Ole Miss like crowds definitely better than levitt darts better than levitt and training has better love like that to me is now they might be so good everywhere else it doesn't matter because I mean that defense was fast flying and yes I acknowledge I don't know if I can do that.

I acknowledge I don't think Clemson is. They're bad certainly they're bad no doubt the Clemson of the 2010s like they they might be they might be horrid. I felt like the the top of the league this weekend kind of revealed itself after one week like Georgia took care of business in a like and again Tennessee states horrible like I acknowledge all this but literally gunner Stockton was out of the game. With 10 minutes left in the second quarter like they just they just dismissed them and I thought the same thing with Texas like Texas a team that oftentimes kind of parts around in those games like they came out their business like they scored immediately like they got off the field on defense and they moved on Oklahoma kind of the same thing. Alabama didn't quite know what to do with because. He on Russell makes them so interesting because he's an electric factory like he could do anything on any single given moment.

But they didn't feel as buttoned up as the other ones did and again they were playing a better team than the other ones. I found a and M to be me and again like all this is all opponent adjusted and it's all week one over reactions but I kind of felt like to me the teams that I left thinking are the top three or LSU Texas and Georgia and you can kind of then throw like Ole Miss Alabama a and M like kind of I'm not going to be a like kind of like they're kind of in the second tier and then Oklahoma's maybe somewhere in between like that's kind of what I left the weekend thinking. I agree with everything Jeffrey said but could the bottom of the league suck again because like all our kids all look pretty pretty shitty and then. Yeah Arkansas didn't really know what they did with the quarterback thing didn't watch a ton of them and then even Auburn I know they beat Baylor but they didn't know it was wildly unimproved now.

I do think Auburn's defense is still pretty good but. Byron Brown looked exactly like oh this is what happens when an American quarterback so they look like a bunch of group of Bob guys suddenly playing a power five. Correct. Correct. I totally agree with I agree the I I was quietly high on Auburn coming into the season I left yesterday thinking like no they're they're going to have to get their own like. He can paper over it this year with his old dudes but he's going to have to get better dudes if he's going to want to survive I totally agree with you on that. Also Arkansas. Yeah but I mean I. Who. I thought Camario Taylor looked pretty impressive I know you. I have the Camaro. I have the Camaro. I was like damn. I have the Camaro. I get the only. What does that mean for them though? Is it like so it's that's what I'm saying I don't. Can let me finish games their schedules brutal say he's got a talented quarterback you know they got can call offense if he finished a couple games last year they'd be seven and five or so can he do that to get them to seven and five eight and four this year to me is what that means he's got a prison.

I never know I never know how much blame put on it like. What happens if Texas if the kid doesn't run the put back right like I mean like how much blame how do you take like he and I mean like. There were multiple guys that could attack hold him like how much is that management I mean yes there were other things and that offense does allow teams to come back because if you just get stops you get the ball back immediately with no time off the clock. But I mean I guess maybe the other thing to kind of monitor. Is chasing my boy we love us some beamer we all love beamer ball. They looked like that they maybe made a bad hire with Mike Shula and that maybe they figured it out but can't states God freaking awful so like you know what I'm not. The before everyone says like I'm writing this all in stone like I don't know these were just things that I noticed like who made changes that you thought could work like for instance when Clemson makes the decision to go with Chad Morris I'm sitting there going like that's not good when you're.

When you're in trouble and it's like we got to put the flaps down and you're going let's bring the gang back to the other that makes me like worry. When South Carolina goes hey we screwed up the higher let's get something more that fits our guy and then you see it and it fits and it works is like okay well I'm open to that maybe being a better fix. Well and look I mean here's the deal to I mean this is back to Ole Miss for a second talk about where they fit inside the league is after one game. You beat a top 25 team a team that's absolutely going to finish the season the top 25 team that if the ACC got weird and got two teams in they would be a candidate for that because I'm going to read your schedule in a second then there's. There is a world again titles is only going to get better Isaac Browns a hell of a run back home this really bottled him up I think the average right at three yards a carry maybe even like 2.9 or something in the game or at least light in the game it was a 2.9. Look I think there is a real chance that Louisville is no worse than ten of two I mean call me crazy but I think that's where they're at here I think that's what you're looking at I mean you're talking about a schedule standpoint they have a huge game against SMU in two weeks September 19 the same day that Ole Miss plays OSU 230.

It's on ESPN or ESPN 2 they're going to beat up on going over next week and then this is a global schedule SMU and they get it in Louisville Ellen in stadium wake forest NC State Lorda State Syracuse by week Stanford Georgia Tech North Carolina pit and then they got a Lexington I do you think Will Stons at least made the wall cats a little better but I'm holding off any kind of great hot take there that's a team look Louisville can really do it in the second area that can do it. On the lot of scrimmage in spot especially in the ACC that's a ten into the ball team I mean so Ole Miss has a top 25 win in their tank and I mean I do think people are I think people are over reacting a little bit tonight from an anti Ole Miss or a negative Ole Miss standpoint not really anti I do I really think so. I would also I would also say this though I'm sure I will bet on Louisville again against SMU and lose like that has been a team that has like given them problems like the last two years like they just lined up and just smoked them and like one when one year was at Louisville were like they just ran it down the throat so like for whatever reason it's a team that they really really struggled with.

But I mean there were real players on that field like that defense like there were there were athletes in the middle I would imagine there are a lot like Ole Miss they can't get a lot of guys hurt like I would imagine that depth that like when we saw like as soon as the corner was out like they just threw deep and it was touched like so. But I if you're making me bet which team is is playing deeper into November Louisville or Clemson it would be Louisville and I would bet every land plot. I mean I mean I'm sorry I just on the Clinton aspect of it I don't understand the Chad Morris thing maybe somebody smarter than me can explain it to me but like this guy comes up he's he's the Clemson no see before Clemson wins national titles gets the SMU job basically goes 500 parlay is that in the Arkansas job never does anything with it obviously but like to the point like what I'm like got out of media the first time I moved to Dallas and started training games with the Dallas.

Morning news just to see what Texas high school football is all about Allen had the longest home winning streak in the country 54 games then they hired some got him Chad Morris in the fall of 21 and lost their home opener in that $60 million stadium and he ruined that immediately I don't understand this guy like I kind of remember that they hired him in the off season and then I've forgotten and when I saw him on the sideline on Saturday night and it reminded me I was like oh shit they're screwed like I don't get it I don't get the Chad Morris thing and I don't get it. I get the Chad Morris thing at all no dad was doing everything to lose in 2026 football it's all the hits it's going back to Morris it is it is the epitome of a completely ruined program at this point I mean I I mean I don't know what their schedule is maybe their schedule sucks where they can still win whatever but I mean there is nothing about in the building and a lot except to see a bit emotional and a lot should be becoming more successful so from that it's always something like holding it and dad being a laptop what somebodyAL thing suppressing

double root burn wait drinks and without that content ass saying weather isn't that too awesome with the two guys that like just realized like, hey, if you spread it out and throw it to a bunch of receivers, one on one that like, hey, that will work. Like, you know, like if you get a bunch of five star receivers when everybody else is buying linebackers and running backs, like, hey, these five 10 DBs can't cover these guys, just chunk it up to them. They're like, oh my God, scheme geniuses. It's like, no, like, and like if you look at it, both of their careers start to downturn when everybody else started like realizing what everyone was doing and they've never really gotten it back. I do think with Chad, there's probably also a little that, that Texas that, you know, he's, he's from the network, you know, like, all the Texas coaches like him, like, I think there's probably something with that, but like, he wasn't good at it. That's not what we're talking about. We're talking about playing. He's like, we're talking about running offense. Like Texas is Clemson's answer,

like they're gonna go and get fourth tier Texas players. Like, is that, is that their solution at this point? Like, I, okay, congratulations. Yeah, I'm with you. I don't get it. Like, Davos like getting rid of, getting rid of, briles and then getting rid of, of, of, of, Lincoln's little brother. And it's like, do I think that Kendall and, Riley 2.0 are like, a sub-hands, it's like, no, but they run better offense than Chad Morristos. Like, it has been proven as such. And it's just what you see. It's like a, you know, it's a wounded animal man. Like, you know, he's wounded and he's lashing out and by God, he's gonna just bring his friends back because you know what, like, if I'm going down, I'm gonna go down with the men I trust. Like the men in this room. And it's like, I did, good luck. Like, wish you well.

Look at here, somebody asked real quick, what Isaac Brown was doing for the game. Yeah, and I mean, not a ton, 2.3 yards of carry is where he ended up. 16 carries, 36 yards. It was the other Brown, they got him a little bit. Seven touches, 56, long a 17 for him. And then Richardson, the only receiver that to really do a ton of damage, 4 for 83, had to touch down the 62 yarder there. I guess McCoy caught one ball for 54. But they took advantage of the busted coverages. There's no doubt about that. As a con-holt, ended up going 18 for 29, 307, two touchdowns. No picks, completed 62% of its passes, Chamble is 58% of his passes. And again, as we said earlier in the show, I'm just kind of joining us, Louisville. Chamble is scores four touchdowns in the second half. They get the winner from Coronaro at 48 yards and Kindhol's leads Louisville to 351 second half yards. Total offense, Louisville ended up with 469.

Penal, these Ole Miss 6 for 60, Louisville 9 for 82, Louisville's 24 first downs, Louisville's 21st downs, Ole Miss 6 of 16 on third, Louisville's 7 of 6 on third. Louis, stop you there because we have to ask. Yep. Was, was roughly the kicker the biggest play of the game? Oh, there's no doubt. Because to me it's like in the con-holt-runch play. Because if they caught running, which I, again, I personally thought I was running into the kicker. Like it was straight leg. He didn't like launch into him. Like I was like, that's running, you have to throw the flag and it's running into the kicker. And running into the kicker, maybe he makes the fill goal so it's point. Yeah, I think part of the reason he missed the kick. He had to wait there and tee them the fill goal. He was like, if it's running into, he just get three points. I'm like, well, I saw him leave one short a second ago. Like a restart. Yeah, but I think he left it short. I thought he left it short because of the guy. Like he, because he did not make it cleanly at all. It did not look like a cornero kick. And I actually, I was kind of in the camp of like, I would give him the three.

But we're now talking about like, the difference between, like, to me, like a huge part of the game is, Ole Miss gets 14 points in the red zone. Louisville got 10. Well, part of that story is, Ole Miss got 14 because of the roughing the kicker. Like it is coming. Oh, and, well, coming. Go ahead. Well, I got to say, like, I know there were other things, like, I really wish somebody had the audacity to throw the flag. When you stiff form somebody and grab him by the face mask and yank him down, it's still a face mask. Like, I do want an official to finally have the audacity to call that. Now, Surtain also got away with, when the guy yanked his face mask down, Surtain clearly tripped him. So like, that was kind of like a play on, you know what I mean? It's kind of been dueling 15 yards play on, but like, that was a huge, huge call in this game. It, eat, no, I think you're right. I mean, there's two or three plays that,

when you look at what they meant or didn't mean, but there's no doubt, it was at least a, it was at minimum a four points wing. It was potentially, it's a seven points wing. If he just misses the kick and you don't have him, momentum wise, you can't undersell what that meant as well, because it felt like, it went to Ole Miss scored right there, you went, okay, and at the time, that seemed like, hey, they're headed in here, they're about to put this thing kind of away, they're gonna put it on ice and all these situations. If you give Louisville the ball right there, without that penalty, it is huge. And look, Louisville made a lot of mistakes. I mean, they over throw the busted coverage in the first half, when it was right there for seven points, until the glory, Ole Miss, only touchdown was a 12 yard drive. I mean, Ole Miss raided four times up the middle for the first touchdown. I think you also have to see this stretch there, in the third quarter of a whistle, on sports with like conducts and other things. They didn't really have a discipline for a stretch there. Listen, Ole Miss did not play like the most sound, smart football in the second area in the second half,

but if you're comparing to Louisville, it's like which team looked better coached, particularly on that side of the ball, it's like, well, this is like not doing anything stupid. No, Ole Miss said they more disciplined coach. I mean, yeah. This one team. Chase, you did not get to hear this. Greg McAroy apparently discovered Taukem Powder this week. Like he was, so I guess Kindholz chalks up, because I assume as someone else has had to do this, if you have a small hand and it's really wet, and you better keep it dry. You better keep it dry. Like McAroy was like, we didn't have this technology. It was like, that's like the oldest technology in the world. It's like go chalk up, powder up. Like literally the broads been doing this his entire career, just throwing the powder up. Like what are we talking about here? That's a hard.

Like it's a man. And he made a point of that during the show. Yeah, I mean, it was obviously like a, like they were focused in on it. Like that's the problem. I don't have the McAroy gene. And it really sucks because one of my favorite, and I'm sure that this is not one of the board's favorites, I think Sean McDonough is an unbelievable play by play guy. I think he's awesome. Every game he's on, like I'm like, man, he just freaking nails it. And it's just they pair him with McAroy and I'm like, ugh, ugh. I thought to make the final point there on that. Yeah, look, Ole Miss was by far more disciplined. They were no real dumb penalties the most part. Even in a couple spots where I thought maybe they were the ones to get hit with some personal files. LoL will end up being the instigator or the perfect people who got the flag. But on the other side, we're talking about LoL and what Kindholz did, but Braum is an excellent offensive coach. I mean, he is going to exploit things.

So while we, there's no doubt. I mean, look, Ole Miss is gonna play far better teams. I'm gonna schedule. I think Jeffrey, I think you're right. Least three, four, five, whatever the number is. There's several teams who are gonna be better than LoL and Ole Miss. A schedule three off the top of your head very, very clearly. Maybe probably four, at least very clearly. But there aren't gonna be a ton of better offensive minds and play caller and adjusters than Jeff Braum. I mean, he is, he is a lead top of the tier. So they did, you least get that right now with a W. This guy has beaten super team, Aira Ohio State with Purdue. With Purdue. That's how good of a coach he is. Purdue. He was above 500 in Big Ten Play against with Purdue. And since then, there are three in 24 since he left riding an 18 game losing streak in Big Ten Play. Since he left. I always, a big deal for me is like, if you throw out like sanctions, like obviously, if a coach has success and then sanctions happen

and then the program falls off, like I said that. But literally, he just left. And they are back to being Purdue. Like, that's how good of a coach he is. Even just non Big Ten Play, he was, I had this in a newsletter over this week, he is or was 36 and 34 at Purdue, 26 and 25 in Big Ten Play. They are 7 and 30 since he left in three in 24 in Big Ten Play. 18 game losing streak and counting. That's not right. I guess we should at least in fairness mention, he did get to have Purdue in the Big Ten West. So they got more divisions. But literally, they're like one of the worst teams in Power Four. Was that the leaders of the legends back then? I was about to ask. That was such a legend. So legends and leaders, it was not split East and West. Like the legends didn't, God.

I think legends was the Ohio State mission. Okay. But like it does, it doesn't just transfer. Like we just changed the name to East and West. Like they were trying to originally balance it. God, it would have been great at that time. They would just said like slow and slower. Or like student and athlete. Like you know what I mean? Like just really lean into it. So one thought here in the stream and then I got a question. We didn't, we didn't ruling on something. They said that never saw a parrholy make a play. I thought parrholy was flying around. He pressured kind hopes a couple times. It was awesome. I thought he was really good left and right. Look, then he'd keep Thomas out there. There's no doubt because Thomas ran down Brown from the backside early in this game. And that was not a play-all miscutive made at the lineback position a year ago. Like they had so much more lateral speed at linebacker tonight versus what they had available last year. I thought parrholy really played well. I'll be curious to see what PFF does because I don't love their grades. But they usually are pretty good. And some areas like that.

I thought he and Tajik Butler both did a really nice job, especially once Thomas went out of that, at that second level. It was the secondary that was breaking some down. But they got pretty good run. Cam Franklin had a hell of a game tonight until he went out. I mean, he was disrupted in the middle both at end and more inside playing that technique. They got some good stuff out of purchase. I thought a couple times he really disrupted off the end a little bit, the organ transfer. So no, there was a ton of stuff. The lock down. You also, he failed to mention the biggest bully play of the night. Otis bench pressed. I think it was the guard. He bench pressed the guard right back into Brown. And like Brown just like ran into his butt because like literally the guy just like bench pressed in three yards. It was like one of the meanest things. Like it's something you see like when a high school player goes up against like a D1 defensive lineman and like just gets shoved back. It was like, no, that was actually two guys are probably getting paid to play football. And that's what happened.

Yeah, we're trying to get some answers on key Thomas. I don't have anything there. But I thought I played really well for a third line, doctor. I echo what you said. I did not think for really was bad. I mean, I think a huge problem was as the game wore on, they kept getting less successful like pressure, have a great like they were less impactful and then they just kept giving up these like explosive chunk plays. But like I thought when the game was still normal, I thought purchase was incredible. And I thought for really was I thought for really was all over the field. I agree. I think that I think that question probably stems from like I was watching the game with a couple of buddies and they kept asking early on in the game like where's for early because he wasn't like around the football or around the ball carrier like that often early on in the game. But I thought he was pretty good. I imagine that's where a question like that would stem from if that makes sense.

Where are we sitting on the proposal before this game? Two Louisville fans down on the field proposing down on when the season opener of a game you're supposed to lose at a neutral site like is that is that the night you're going to remember forever? Like I have so many issues with this being the time that you picked to pop the question. In addition to simply being in a in a in a fairly empty stadium 30 minutes before kick. What's he pray? What are we doing? Not to my knowledge, but you ask a question that I cannot say I have a for sure answer to but even so here tonight. My wife told me a long time ago if I proposed at a sporting event she would cut little Megan G rated. She would be very upset if I proposed a sporting event. So I've never really had the thought or the way to think it out. I'm not anti people that do that. I think that's cool. Like if you're happy, but I didn't see the said proposal. But that's a weird one.

Neutral site almost Louisville Labor Day. I can't imagine maybe that woman is the biggest Louisville fan on earth. I can't imagine she was like this is what I dreamed of. I was getting popped the question. So I don't know. Yeah. The like the idea of me proposing to my wife and public. Like that would just be a death sentence for me. Like, and you were married to a top tier Ole Miss fan lover. Like I mean, correct. Like all she loves. She loves it so much. She can't watch it, which also. I will go to the grave saying I do not understand the idea of being a sports fan, but not watching sports. Like the idea that like, because it's also not like, oh, she goes back and watches the game after she knows the result. It's just like, no, she like can't deal with it. So she just doesn't watch it. Like that, that's a foreign concept to me. But I've only done that one time in my in my in my sports fandom. And it was the St. C. Hawks playoff game when Martian did all his crap that day.

I completely left it. I did. I left it. I was done. I was actually thinking about this. Cause I know everybody in the board wants to talk about this. Joe, watch any Walker Cup today. I watched the list. I saw like, I saw the US blew it late. So that's all I got. They were. I basically wanted to turn it off the last two holes. Cause like, you could tell how it was going like every time they needed to make the putt, the US would miss it. And like that would kind of flip a point back to Great Britain and Ireland. It reminded me of like watching the writer cup in 2012 when you could sense like, Oh God, like I don't need to watch. I was close to turning it off. But I did at least stay and watch to make sure that we missed the last putt. They made it like, but it's such a foreign concept to me. Like again, I knew like what was going to, it's like I knew the guy was going to the American was going to miss it. And I knew the Irish guy was going to make it like, but I don't know. The public proposal thing is. I guess like, Hey, if that's like your thing, but it, I don't know.

It just feels more. It feels very like indicative of our times. Like, look at me. I matter. Well, we talked, we talked a listener out of this. I believe on the podcast three or four weeks ago, because he was wanting to know. If it was a good idea to propose to his wife and the Grove before the LSU game on the 19th. And we're like, no, like what would you, you're not asking for cameras on you. And presumably if you're in the Grove, you're around like people, you care about the sum degree. I mean, I would, I would, I have an honest question. I have an honest question on this topic. Do normal people actually like truly surprise someone when they propose? Like, I thought now, you mean like that nobody even expects it at all. Not like, Hey, I didn't know you were doing it tonight. Right. But like the idea of like proposing to your, to your fiance and her not having her nails done is like a, I feel like a legit concern.

Like, like, because of the social media aspect now, right. I'm not saying like you have to give her a script beat for beat here. How's it, like, how's it going to happen? But like, I'm just very, I'm always very confused by when people are like, I want to truly catch your fries. Like, I wanted to know the answer. Like, you know what I mean? Like, I wanted to be confident. I'm getting text by the way, people, trying to get out of the stadium, just now getting into ubers and waymos and things. So it's been about an hour to get across and into, into any kind of thing. Here just takes me so that it's been a cluster. I was trying to get out of here. So I have been doing waymos all day. I am completely pro waymo, like not even close. Like if I get the option, this weekend is the first one. Yeah. The first time though, it's weird, right? Like, the first time I did it, I was like, I wasn't like, I wasn't nervous, but you're just like, this is kind of weird.

Like, how does that work? I have not popped my waymo cherry yet. How does that work? You just get in the car and there's just no one in there and you start ripping it. That's correct. Yeah, the wheel turns and everything. Yeah. That's correct. That would freak me out. That would take me a while to get adjusted to. Is it like more useful? Like, you don't have to talk to some guy about how long he's been driving for waymo. Like, how does that, what's the advantage? Yes. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Complete prophecy. Yeah, it's perfect. It's good and everywhere. All right. Well, I'm not going to get into what is Elmas have to do to be double-shoe. We got plenty of time for that again, Troy. Next week, I didn't count either. So we have both extremes. But both of you, give me one or two guys that you just feel like need to play better for Elmas to be back toward a ceiling after one game. Give me a couple dudes that you're undecided. You're going to grade them as an incomplete, but they're important enough for the rebels to have to have them if they're going to reach anything closer to their ceiling.

Can I bail out and say, have Trinidad plays like he did in the first half? Like he was being at now. I want to be clear. They put him in bad spots. It was like run, run. Hey, third down be a hero. But like, he was a little off. Um, I mean, if Lacey's hurt, Frazier's got to be better than like Frazier to me tonight looked like Jack, like just a dude. Like that was a replacement level running back. Not a bad guy. Like he did some nice things, did some good things. There was no game breaker in that in one. Yeah, did not look at the game. I actually say that Jeffrey then because they were so bad behind Lacey last year. Like, like, Jack was an upgrade. Though I agree. Like there is enough. This doesn't feel like as bad of an issue as it would have been last year. But I think feel like if we're going to go with Chase's premise from earlier in the show,

that they might be a receiver short. Well, fields to me seems like the obvious guy that he's going to have to be. I mean, he like caught the balls that were thrown at him. But like, you didn't really, you didn't really get a lot of run after catch. You didn't get like a lot of, I don't remember him being like super wide open. I didn't see a ton of separation. And then I guess on the defensive end. I don't want to like, because you never know like with Eccles did like they just double him. The entire time. Maybe other guys name it didn't look like it's that right. But he didn't feel like he wrecked the game. And I don't know if they can be, I don't know if they can be peak of their powers. If he's not a game record. But at the same time, it's like, well, what if some of the other guys that we were mentioning that like early on looked good? What if that's because Eccles is demanding all of the attention and it's opening up. You know, it's the why was Kyle Shanahan always good against the Rams when they had Aaron

Donald? Because Shanahan was the only person that was like, I guess smart enough to be like, hey, we're going to put a lot of hands on Aaron Donald. He's not going to kill us. And like, let's let everyone else beat us if that's, I was going to be, maybe that's what Braum did. Those are the ones like off the top of the dome that kind of stand out. And then it's, go ahead, Brian. And I've got a couple. No, I'm not. So I'm not smart enough to know like who was good or bad in the secondary off top of my head. But Jaywin Braxton came to mind immediately. Didn't seem like he was great. But again, I could be totally wrong about that. And then my cop out of answer would have been whoever's playing right tackle, whether that be, whether that be the storm. Or it'll be. Yeah. And then can I give you a wild card, Luke Hoss? I'm not even sure he was bad, but you talk about being a pass catcher short. He really wasn't involved in the passing game tonight. That could be totally by design.

I could be totally wrong on that. But I thought maybe he might have like a five six catch tonight and be much more effect from the passing game because they liked him last year. Maybe he had that injury that really derailed him getting involved in the offense. There was a lot of two tight in stuff. He was on the field a lot and he didn't seem really getting involved in the passing game. But those are my two very like uneducated guys that came to mind off the top of my head. They tried to get Michael Smith involved in the past game. They went to him twice kind of early and didn't get any traction there. But they were trying to steam up Smith a little bit. And look, you know, Hoss did have that one catch that was very critical at the time. It was a nice little nice little route. That was a good play call on the dirt. Yeah, I guess as we kind of talk through it, I think my biggest critique of the offense was maybe it completely got blown up because the first the first series goes the way that it does. It was like a nine yard game.

A snap over the head that loses 22 yards or something like that. And then you run draw on third down and then you have putt. I don't really feel like and I know they would tell me I'm wrong and I'm sure I am to a certain degree but it's like I don't really feel like anything got like skeamed up tonight. And that could also be game one stuff of and to be clear, it should also be noted. Little of a lot of new defense coordinator. And so maybe they didn't know exactly what was going to happen. I think more of what actually happened was Louisville was just playing it back and daring him to march it down the field. And so at that point, like skeamed it up doesn't really work because like you're just going to take whatever they give you. But I think that would have been my biggest critique was that it just felt like they probably ran the same plays that they practiced, you know, install. You know, I mean like they're like it didn't feel like, oh, that play was put in for this game.

And they're running their offense. Yeah, I mean, my two, it's really all secondary base for me. And that comes from a couple of reasons that comes from the fact that that's where the bus for that's the thing that we're going to concentrate our coverage on from a defensive standpoint all week and really the next two weeks going into what I know is she does have skill players in the backfield and a water see room and you're going to have to cover your game to be much more precise and disciplined in the back seven from a defensive standpoint. But Ole Miss, look, we saw 25 minutes of practice. Okay, I mean, that's not a cop out that is the truth of preseason camp. We saw 25 minutes and most of that was pumper turn. But we talked to a lot of people. I talked to Pete Golding going to Charlotte in back when I did think Quahalo and he really liked the potential of the secondary thought that they had three or four corners that were as good as what they had last year. Thought they're going to rotate with some depth there like the athleticism of the safety. Like I did when Joseph back like been able to move him around a little bit and that just

didn't show up tonight for whatever reason because Louisville's talent on the opposite side is not at wide receiver where there's getting tons of separation and they have all these big bodies and you're out there against a bunch of scribbling and things and they just simply did not stay in lanes. They were not over with this one and that's something that look it's game one but that's where it's at. It's tight. It's Braxton. It's Crawford. It's Denson. Who is whoever is playing safety Joseph? It's those guys. That is the reason we're having some of the conversation we are having right now and again and it would be in 4138 because Lucas Crenero hit a 48-order to win in or without that headed over time and God knows what that would have looked like in OT. I have no good answer there. Yeah, no. It's all secondary for me. That's where we're at. I'm glad the game didn't get over time. For a little while. Over time. Number one, I don't know if you just gave Ole Miss like given given the who was available

if you just gave him the ball at the 25 like maybe Trinidad does something special. Because the greatest overtime quarterback of all time is any Ole Miss fan knows is Matt Chance. Now and because Matt Chance could just like do the run around thing and when everybody's tired he could just eventually run it in and maybe Trinidad would have been like a great overtime quarterback. But man it felt like at that point Louisville could run the ball and they had enough of like a they had enough of like a idea in the quick passing game to like I just I felt like when Canero got out there I was like he needs to make this like they not even in the no dot like but it's like it felt to me like the best chance for Ole Miss to win the game was to just make that kick because I thought they were losing if Canero missed that kick. I thought they were going to lose in every time. And I have I have on record I can send the text out I texted my wife and I texted my

friend I think he's making it. So like I'm on the record is I was so where was Olya she was just a little room. Oh she's downstairs the better. Yeah. She was watching you too. Okay. Did she go back and like watch the kick in a highlight after like what happens. She does scroll I don't know if it's Instagram or Twitter I think it's Instagram so if they put I have no idea what her Instagram is like I would assume that that is a rainbows and sunshine algorithm but I have no idea. Okay. If they put that on Instagram she has seen it. Okay. Gotcha. So she wanted it to be noted that when they went up 14 she did consider turning the game back on. And then you know they scored in like 38 seconds because apparently Ole Miss decided with a 14 point lead. Hey deeper than the deepest doesn't matter here like let's go yeah yeah.

Let's go make some plays boys like let's let's go run up and let's go chase the ball. I'm still not as out on the defense I do feel like the defense is more don't be an idiot and I think that is more fixable than this guy can't play. Yeah there's the mean we it's this is normal week one over reaction a little bit you've got an offense that really sputtered through the first half they committed two turnovers in the first half they basically committed three because the snap of it ahead was a turnover completely killed that job it was over. So it was three turnovers when you consider that for all tangible purposes in the first half they had 10 points defense stood and kept Ole Miss with a lead despite all that mess including a miss bill goal when Louisville special teams was a big question mark and they were great in the kicking game tonight they hit they hit all their fill goals a couple from from deep therefore the Cardinals and you still rebound score 41 points 41 points run the board switch it in your your your your high demand continued quarterback ended

up throwing for three bills and change scoring four total total touchdowns one on the ground. So yeah I look I get that it is we go full circle to close this thing out tonight I get that in some ways you were going to measure everything against what LSU did where Clemson was an overmatched football team that completely just got out manned and a lot of times in Tiger Stadium at night weird stuff happens and teams can't seem to recover from that and I first thought that it was a victory hey that they did like three nothing they let you know me but not only that like hey Levitt was shaky and then he got picked and you're like oh like what if he's not ready for the moment and then you realize like wait a minute on offense they're getting pushed backwards and then on defense literally LSU can just do whatever they want you're like all right well this is everywhere. I mean that is a fact that's true. Second half Trinidad it wasn't Georgia good but it was close

and also you got to remember part of the Georgia good is that was game number one 14 because some of those plays were off script guy knew exactly what to do like what we were talking about with the receivers like it was guys breaking deep and him throwing like a beautiful bomb like but in terms of just in control letting it rip being the guy when you have to be the guy man a second out he was pretty damn good like that's the 13 days figured out if they don't have him tonight they lose oh yeah I mean yeah I mean that's kind of the other thing that's like makes it interesting about Ole Miss guys you don't have to win every game by 50 you have to win every game and like Ole Miss might be doing kind of this anyone that's watching the NFL the chief start their most annoying

when they win 17th grade one score games and you watch them you're like I think they stink like you're like I think they actually look at them they stink but my homes is just incredible and they just hang around hang around hang around and then he finally figures it out like that's kind of the advantage of having that guy and Ole Miss might just have that guy where it's like if he gets the ball back and it's tied or it's close it's like I'd rather have him than whoever you got into your point really great the biggest raise of the game was just getting out of the pocket I mean escaping what was sure to be a sat two or three times in this game I think drastically changes this game I mean that first movie has when he thinks he has to get out is pretty elite he had it today he had like a sit down pull the chair out move like where guys coming from the backside and he like squats and spins and you just watch the guy tackle air and you're like

well that's that's something new and this is kind of the other thing I have no idea if Ole Miss is offensive line was better last year and better this year I just know that he is so elusive that it makes the numbers look better I don't actually know that like oh they had better players oh they they scheme better like no I think he might just be that elusive so that it just masks all the other issues yeah there's nothing about that he made everything look better he he removes so many negative place where they if anything you're just a zero I mean let little light yeah he's spun around twice he throws the ball down the field throws it out of bounds it's just a incomplete pass instead of the chaos that was coming right there after that after that awesome he is the extra yeah there was one fact that would have been like a loss of 20 yeah so questions in the in the stream about what is that's not good about what is going on yeah we'll have we'll have

nails some weeks this one's a little different we're both on the road with typically aren't that I'm not in studio we just got the TV on we get a night game next week 636 45 what is it I guess Charlotte I mean hell I don't know it's not like we're gonna really navigate that but what is what is the case 45 is not on mainstream cable usually there's 645 games of the ones that get streamed on ESPN plus but just to guess yeah um and Drew makes a good point is we're finishing up here I mean he says do watch our game last year yeah I mean I do think is is Jeffrey it's probably eliminating to your point is everybody's acting like Ole Miss scored 50 and didn't have sputtering moments at times last year like there was some dog games last year I mean Ole Miss beat a quality opponent scored 41 damn points tonight like there there is a lot of overreaction and freak out that is completely not Ole Miss could have lost to Washington state at home as like a 50 point favorite yeah was you he stayed at the ball correct in the end zone I thought it was ball in the air basically could have lost yes they got a throw and by the way like it could have been worse like

you know what I mean like and again I'm not saying like this means that they're going to go 11 and one again I have no idea I think if you made me bet after tonight I think I'm less likely to say that they go 11 and one after week one but I have no idea like I you know what I mean that's the other thing that we're gonna figure out as the season goes on a lot of this is gonna be how do you handle injuries and maybe Ole Miss handles it better maybe Ole Miss handles it worse maybe Texas doesn't handle it maybe maybe Oklahoma does maybe Alabama does like I don't like I know one thing is certain there's no one that is getting out of this unscathed in terms of injuries so how do you handle that well you've said in last thing what are you setting the over under on do-snake snaps next week

RC who's the third could be Walker I don't know it depends what they want to do it's AJ or Walker because you got to all remember like you kind of have to get do as much as you want do stuff fun like you can't really if you are one of the few teams that actually has a second quarterback like you can't just have that's actually a guy that's not disposable because doose is also a guy that likes to take off and run and off script but I kind of like rippies 30 feels about right 30 yeah it feels like maybe 29 and a half just set it there but guys watching Walker Howard still playing college football he's the rebel is a veteran quarterback to help mobile people you know he's around good for that you know a lot why that is that is that is that is that is that is

a hundred percent correct yeah end of the day forty one thirty eight Ole Miss is one and a that's all it really matters the health is a story this next week it's not Charlotte it's it's what's up with these guys key one lacy Keaton Thomas Tommy Kenzler Cam Franklin not being two banged up whatever's going on is Ole Miss has multiple players yeah like again some of you guys you probably been inbiting a little bit you're going suddenly Ole Miss acting like Ole Miss is seven and five a bit of ranked team you definitely are overreacting in a negative way to that time will tell we'll figure out Charlotte again six thirty six forty five next week each crowd appreciate all you guys tonight headed back in the morning Ole Miss so I think the teams off day is tomorrow but all the Pete stuff employers it shifted to Tuesday this week so Pete's press conference will be midday Tuesday mostly because most of us will not be back I guess last thing they're asking about Shakhan Mills night I was surprised he had played tonight I kind of thought that he had worked out a little bit of a role in some different packaging things but they they they relied on on Frazier

and Lindsay and you mentioned a jagged for Frazier I did think once Lindsay could get straight forward he had a hell of a step like he does have some speed to him kind of has a little bit of a sprinter speed but he seems to have to get into that cut and it's not lateral it's kind of straight north south so we'll see what that looks like as time goes on but my thought of Mills night was they were not no freshman running back no matter how good he is like they're not going to be great in past protection like there's not yeah and my thought my thought was they just all more not but but I don't know my my thought was like you knew that they were going to that Louisville was trying to heat it up and you could not risk your running back not being good in past birth yeah no no podcasts in the morning for sure we're new and on both are headed back I guess there's a possibility that I get back tomorrow and I'm just missing I jump off a little bit in the afternoon for the hell of it if we have any different updates and things we can bring to you and then yeah Tuesday morning normal

for that so get sure what next week Ole Miss again scored 41 points got a win in Nashville that's all that really mattered here from Nissan Stadium cover dribbles 247 70% off at the site right now so you can take advantage of that if you have not already a lot of you guys did in August so appreciate Jeffrey and Brian for their time tonight and getting bad they got Labor Day tomorrow so a little bit are today at this point it's 12 15 a little bit of holiday you got to climb on this record we know no more we are headed to my parents house to go swimming also today we got our Halloween costume oh what are we doing uh we are all right are you coming to sacred no no no no she's been wearing it okay let's let's take to the sky we're sky from Paw Patrol oh oh yeah she's been going on a lot of missions today she did also get very upset that she got very upset that a Leon and I would not get her a helicopter and I mean a real and we had to

explain to her you could become a pilot like we're like hey maybe like that's a life goal or something but your mom and your dad do not have 150 grand to just buy a helicopter that did not is your little when uh what is your little one doing Brian so she's almost eight months thankfully she's not speaking English yet so she can't ask me for a helicopter um but we'll probably just hang out tomorrow uh we'll we'll go I don't know I'll probably take her on a walk we'll do a podcast but uh you know she's just laid low tomorrow I'd be good I'm excited I uh I have neighbors that call me Paw Patrol because of chase from Paw Patrol so that is that is my name with some of the neighbor kids so that's what she she goes I want Rocco to be Chase because he's a German shepherd ish yeah I don't think a Leo was keen on spending money on a costume for Rocco who she perfectly perfectly perfectly acceptable especially

when it's the hated member of the fan sorry Jeffrey Ben Jeffrey Brian sorry I apologize yeah thank you it's 1215 for you is like it might as well be early for a you know like walk out the casino at 8 a.m. yeah I'm done that's look at it you have to fill out it here in two days yeah that is that is I was up at 450 this morning so that that is where we uh that is where we are all right 4138 Ole Miss over Louisville taught you again soon later everybody
