2:01You guys welcome to the post game show for Mississippi State in Lou versus Louisiana, Monroe of what went right? What went wrong and what was missing for Mississippi State against ULM as the bulldog was get the 62 13 victory over ULM. Camario Taylor has a really impressive day. Now you do kind of feel like you have to preface with, okay, yeah, but there's the competition part of it and there's that's a reality, right? In terms of who Mississippi State was playing in this game. But there also is the fact of the things that Mississippi State did well. And then also some things that state can improve on. I will say, you know, from my total yard standpoint, it is the most yards in Mississippi State history with 762 417 passing 345 running. And Mississippi State did not turn the ball over. They also did not get a turnover, which I thought was, you know, maybe a little preview for one of the things that went right, right, you know, or went wrong or missing.

3:01But Mississippi State offensively averaged all, I mean, just a hair under 10 yards per play and they averaged 15.4 yards per completion. And again, the like the talent differential in this game is huge. But I do think there's a lot to take away and a lot to look at for him, for him, for the Marietailer, which really honestly sets up next week's game against Minnesota, there are manyapolis in a big way. Mississippi State, what went right for Mississippi State in this game? And let's just be real. Almost everything, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Camario Taylor, one of the great things about Camario Taylor and really one of the great things about this game is that the clips that the nation is going to see from Camario Taylor is going to be something that gets shared around and more people get to know who it is and just more exposure for your university, right? And Camario is a great ambassador for that for if you know, for Mississippi State, 354-4 touchdowns, no picks was really smart with the ball. He didn't want to mean by that is like he didn't run the ball a ton, which I mentioned coming in the game. I thought that was really important. Like, there, I don't think there's any design quarterback runs.

7:07He was just kind of like anytime he was in trouble that he had to take off and go he did. And he ended up with, you know, 59 yards in this game with a touchdown. But it wasn't like it was it was a design, you know, QB run. So I thought he was unbelievable. And what went right in this game is that Camario Taylor looked like the quarterback we've been talking about all off season. Some of the plays, we'll get into it in a second. Like the plays that he, the ability he has to flick the ball and just throw it 60 yards down the field is really unbelievable. And it caught the attention of some different people tonight nationally. Camario Taylor is an unbelievable prospect and just an unbelievable leader and really unbelievable player. I just don't remember a time we've seen a quarterback like Mississippi State. I mean, that in my mind always goes to DAC and look, let's just be honest, man, at this point Camario's career, that's kind of sacrilegious. But what he does with a football throwing it down the field is unbelievable.

8:11And then whenever he runs, man, it's just so effortless the way he runs. And the way that Mississippi State kind of spread the ball around all game today was unbelievable. I mean, 11 different receivers caught a pass tonight. That's huge man. I mean, and on top of that is Anthony Evans and Anthony Evans looked really, really good. Had seven catches, 118 yards, a touchdown and like, you did not drop the ball at all. And he had a lot of if you guys look at the velocity Camario has this ball going, it's impressive. San Frisco McGuieta couple had four catches, Mark East Johnson three, Zion Reagan's had three and looked really, really speedy, man, Crumpen with two Harris with two. Anyway, I don't go down the whole list, but really, really impressive. But what went right from Mississippi State is that Camario to me looked like the guy that had been advertised all off season and his leadership was really, really good. I'll touch on this for a second. I don't know if you guys know, Jim Rock, Grizzly, Grimsley, my apologies, missed an opportunity, somewhere along the way. And all of a sudden the camera goes to the sidelines and Jim Rock is getting kind of chewed out by who,

9:13Camario Taylor got as much younger than him. Well, the next series he goes out and Jim Rock, it's a huge tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Huge. And I went back to Camario's leadership there of thinking like, man, this guy really, really shows his way even on the defensive side of the ball. He just, he owns the fact that this is his team. Mississippi State, we've said it before, is only going to go as far as Miss, as Camario Taylor takes, takes them by leading them. But honestly, I was really, really impressed by the amount of depth that Mississippi State has at the wide receiver position. And I, I'm going to be honest, well, yeah, I'll wait, I'll wait to talk about that maybe later this week. They look really, really good. Well, to me was was very, very easy. The bird call call of the game. Um, Camario Taylor in the downfield throw, uh, where Camario hits, uh, Marquis Johnson for 70 yards down the field. That throw looked so unbelievably effortless on Camario's part that I could not believe. I mean, it wasn't like he just had this, you know, nobody in his face. It didn't even look like he stepped up to make the throw. That was unrewatching that. I mean, if you go on X, you'll see that in your on Mississippi State Twitter, that's all over the place. Here's the question. What went wrong from Mississippi State? Uh, and then what went missing will be the, what was missing will be the variant. What went wrong from Mississippi State to me was as great as Kamario Taylor did in this game. He made a couple of mistakes that if Mississippi State was not playing Louisiana, Monroe was taking the other way. And I got to be honest with you might have been taking the other way for six. Kamario had to, at least two balls. I can think about the top of my head that I was going through and kind of, not saw my head as I was going through and making notes that it hit the other defender in the hands

14:29and they just dropped it. And not only did they just drop it, but like the path they had on the left side of the field was, was good. It would basically just would have been them and Kamario. And I mean, I don't know. I know Kamario's great athlete. You just don't want your quarterback having to make those decisions. I don't know if that's because of the fact that he can just be, he throws the ball so dang hard. Even the touchdowns earlier in the game, I mean, the touchdown he had to, what was the, was the second? No, it was to San Frisco. The first touchdown he had was thrown a million miles an hour in San Frisco. Got it. But a play before then, he throws it over the head of Sam West, who was wide open. You just, he's got to calm down on that. And Jeff Laby mentioned the off season that that was something that they needed to work on is getting there. Don't throw the ball through a brick wall. Things were Kevin Johnson told him like every single play doesn't need to be that way. You need to somehow put some touch on it. And that as I saw that, I think that that is something that should concern Mississippi State fans because again, the level of competition is just kind of different. And you know, if you play Minnesota next week, they got guys that can take that the up the opposite

15:35direction. And so, you know, when we're on for Mississippi State, they just they did not have as good as he played. I thought, you know, and it was honestly fairly early in the game too. We were talking the first half that that come around through those, those players, those passes that probably should have been picked off. And that that's not something they're going to get away with the rest of the season. So he's got to find a way to clean those things up and not throw those balls. The other part of what was missing to me is is a little bit of a of a bigger deal. Where where was the sacks tonight? Now, I do want to say this. I think what was missing from Mississippi State is is is the ability to sack the quarterback. I mean, in the end that they walk away with two sacks, Dale Nevens and Mara Williams kind of had a half sack and then who's to think of that a whole one? Travegan Williams had the other sack. By the way, Travegan Williams, any guy who has a neck pad or neck roll instantly just looks freaking cool. They just do. He was like a beast.

16:35But two sacks in this game is just not impressive whenever you think about the level of competition. Now, to be fair, to be fair, it's not something you need to hang on, but like you eliminated in pass ball ton and when they did, it was very quick. So like they weren't just like sitting there in the pocket all day. Like I get all that. They ran the ball a lot. They ran the ball 40 times in this game as opposed to 28 passes. But I thought that was an area that really should have been that was an area where that was little concerning that Mississippi State wasn't able to consistently get pressure. Zach on that looked a little angry at that if you will. But the fact that they weren't able to do that does give me some concern because when Mississippi State goes and plays, Drake Lindsey next week from Minnesota. I don't know if you guys have watched him, but like the guy if he's has time in the pocket is really accurate. But more than accurate has a really big arm and Mississippi State could be in trouble if they do not find a way to get that cleaned up because this is you a limb. Like it's just this is this is not a situation

17:36where you should not a situation where you should be like have these things happen. You need to be able to get to the quarterback and and sack them. And I just feel like they weren't able to do that. Will Wittsen had decent game. He did not have a sack, but he did have a tackle for loss. He did have a quarterback hurry six total tackles. Remember, I mean, he's been out since, you know, almost a full calendar year from last year. So you do hate to see that from him. And but the fact they were not able to get more pressure on the quarterback is concerning because that that was a problem the whole season last year. Now, remember a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned if Mississippi State had the same amount of sacks as they did last year, which was 21 15 if out of 16 the SEC, but their offensive line was better. I still think the team would do so much. What would do well just because of how good the offense has been. And obviously tonight they looked like they're on a different level. But the defensive side of things has to get better from a from a side from a pressure on the quarterback standpoint. Now, if you look at it in the end, especially with how fast state scored,

18:39I mean, you LM only scored 13 points. And on top of that, Mississippi State was rotating guys. I mean, as of the third series that they had some second and third teamers coming in there after. So it's not like these are the ones only got these kind of numbers. But still, you know, a lot of guys got to play. I think that that's the that is the good part of it from Mississippi State. You get to rotate a lot of guys in, but they were not able to get the pressure that I feel like they should have. And especially it felt like whenever I mean, I know they were running the ball a lot, but they were able to get to the second level with with relative ease. And so I thought that was a little bit concerning. There was a bright spot on this team that I did not see coming. And I don't think a lot of people saw coming, but we're going to talk about that next. It was honestly one of the better parts of the game towards the end. 21:44the run, the leading restaurant in this game was not Fluff Bothwell. Fluff Bothwell didn't play a bad game. And he averaged six yards of carry. Colin Wilson averaged 13.3 yards per carry. Neither of those guys were the leading wrestlers from Mississippi State. The leading wrestler from Mississippi State only had seven attempts and he averaged 17 yards of carry. JJ Hill, the true freshman from two below, two touchdowns had that 57 yard long run. JJ Hill looked really, really good in this game for especially for a true freshman. And I got to be honest with you, man. I did not see him make, I mean, like I thought he might play in this game, especially just later on, I did not see him being that good. And now I'm starting to think, you know, I mentioned, I think, Colin Wilson is the surprise of this team. JJ Hill might give me a run for my money. I mean, he might, he might put me in my spot. He a really, really great game from JJ. We'll be able to kind of evaluate how he does so far. But seven

22:45attempts, 118 yards, two touchdowns. And he, I mean, he barely played a little bit in the fourth quarter. He looked unbelievable. And as I mentioned, the other kind of surprise was the fact that Mississippi States wide receiving court had so many different players that thought for the extra yard and had a lot of speed. A lot of good things for Mississippi State in this game. Let me know your thoughts, though. I'm kind of where you would go with this. But that's what went right. What went wrong?
