And it's not over because we got ball tonight. We're going to take a little break tomorrow. But then we got the NFL starting on Wednesday. So good, good week to be a football fan. It's back. We're, we're here ready to go. All right. Now let's jump into it. We're going to start with our mega ring. Review. And what we'll do here is we'll go over the games. Um, and we'll kind of talk about the games as we go. We'll go start with my good friend. I don't know if you've heard of this guy. The man the myth alleged named Neil McCready, who Neil right now is starting the year where he left off on fire on fire. Neil goes four and one. And that's counting the money line. Okay. But four and one against the spread. And he has a game left. He could go five and one. He has SMU minus three left tonight. We'll start. Neil started off. He had the Miami Hurricanes laid the points with the Hurricanes.

7:07And Miami goes out Friday night to the left coast where they eat pineapple on their pizza. Where they eat boneless chicken wings. And they know what when they stopped in the hotel lobby to take a pee before they got a bus. They probably saw a tampon machine over there. Okay. But the Miami Hurricanes probably did. I mean, the probably did. They probably did. They probably said, yes, ma'am. And they went by some different program. I don't know, you know. And so, um, but Miami just went. Have you ever done that by the way? Yes. I've done it twice. I did it. There's a. I did it at a. I said Laura yelled at me one day. She was like, that's. I was like, what? No, I didn't know not that bad. I said, uh, I was trying to be respectful. This happened here in Oxford. I don't. I do remember. I'm not going to say it. I went to. I went to a gas station. Yeah. And I got some pouches. Okay. And they asked me a question. Is this the right one?

8:07And I said, yes, ma'am. It is. Oh, yeah. And I got corrected very quickly. Did you? I did. And I was like, I was a little bit pissed because I'm trying to be respectful and nice and polite. And I got shoved back in my face. I didn't like that. I just, I just paid for my pouches and it said another word left. I was, I was lowkey, a little pissed, though. Oh, I didn't, I didn't feel like making a scene. There were people behind me. I said, yes, sir. Oh, and Laura's like that. You got it wrong. And I was like, you got to be kidding me. I can't, I can't do that. I can't do that. I just, I'm trying to be nice. I can. I am too. I'm terrible. I can't because I was trying to be polite, trying to be nice. But anyway, back to the game. The Miami, Miami Hurricanes. You're the one that started. I did. It's my fault. It's not just my fault. I deserve that one. Uh, the Miami Hurricanes all over Stanford, uh, different Miami team, just as dangerous, different Miami team. They look really good. Just as dangerous, uh, men says the real deal, uh, played really, really, really well.

9:11And uh, I have seen enough. I went ahead. I put a little tweet out. I saw nothing the first half. Uh, Caderius Tony. I said Caderius Tony again. I did, I did this on the live today. Caderius Tony is the guy from O'Bill for Blunt High School went to Florida. I recruited, um, Malachi Tony dude. Unbelievable. Like they were doing, I'm talking about, they were like, rolodex of what they were trying to do coverage, coverage wise against him. They are so dangerous. Shannon Dawson does an unbelievable job with him that prevents defenses from basically, hey, we're having a, uh, Malachi Tony coverage here. I mean, he lines up wide. He's in the slot. He's in stack. He's in motion. It just really creates a lot of confusion and understanding with the defense of what they got to do to match up. I mean, Neil, they were running. I mean, it's basically match, but they were, they had him bracketed with the safety in the nickel and he climbed the nickel. The guy was trying to collision him, never touched him.

10:14And then he breaks it all the way across his face. It was, uh, I, I wish AJ was on here because, uh, it was a route that we, a little concept that we were, uh, messing with in Birmingham, but we used to call it Dawson, but it's basically a, a win route by the, by the slot and you let your, your outside guys, your X and Z run runbacks and you can, it allows you to stay locked on the, the aphid a little bit longer and let him win. And so it's, it's like if they're in too high, you bend it if it's, if it's one high, you stay through the seam, if it's, if it's, uh, if they're squatting on you, you're run by him and they ran that several times in that game and they couldn't, they had no answer deal. He's climbing out running them, uh, and the one that I was just like, when, when you want to talk about elite, one step change direction and elite balance and body control, he catches a touchdown pass on a slant and they're trying like, it's not a really a good look to throw it into and they wouldn't have touched him in a phone booth if it was flag football. They tried to, they, he just went, whoop, he caught the ball in the end zone, came back out of the end zone, back in the end zone, just to avoid the contact and looked as smooth

11:17as silk. Look, this guy's the elite of the elite. Like if he was in the NFL draft right now, he'd be one of the top receivers taking, um, just ball or he had 10 catches. I think it was like 10 for one 89 and two tugs in the first half. He ends up with 11 for like two 29 and three tugs. I mean, just they can't cover him and then I was, I was laughing like, just, tamper was like, roll a dice trying to figure out something and they ran Tampa to, they called Tampa to and he was in the slot and the mic was trying to run with him vertically. It looked like knocks trying to run with me in the front yard. I mean, just wasn't fair. Um, just elite. So, uh, now it's different. It's different. They're not, they're more dynamic and he's not the only receiver they got. They're very dynamic at receiver at all spots. You got a quarterback that's very dynamic. They're not yet. I think they will get better as time goes on, but they're not, they're not the, you know, pound you like they were at the end of the year last year when they got hot, they just lined up and ran duo and play action off of it.

12:18They're not really doing that a whole lot as much because they are so explosive everywhere else. And then defensively, you can see that they're not quite where they were last year, but they will improve and go. They're not bad. You know what I'm saying? So Miami is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with. They're, they're a damn good team. I just don't know how you slow them down defensively. Did you get a chance to watch any of that? Were you traveling? Uh, yeah. We were at dinner Friday night. It was on. So, uh, I kept an eye on it. I can't say that I was like watching it, but I could tell that Miami was beating the brakes off of Stanford. And I don't think, I don't think Stanford's good. I don't think Stanford's as embarrassing terrible as there were a year ago. Yeah. No doubt. Uh, shout out to, uh, Bailey, Bailey Roll tide roll Nelson on McCradian Cisco YouTube channel joined the club. Welcome to the clerk. Sup, Bailey. Um, all right. So, uh, speaking of Neal had the Alabama Crimson Todd lay in there. I think it was ended up man 27 and a half, 28 and a half. What it was, I like 28 and a half.

13:1828 and a half is never a problem. We had no problem all the way. Alabama wins 48 to 10 over East Carolina. Roll tide. Oh, few observations from this game. Uh, one, I think Alabama's going to be really good. There's your first observation. Um, but the big questions won't everybody wants to talk about as hey, because they fly around defense. They're physical. They make plays, but everybody wants to talk about the offensive line. Everybody wants to talk about quarterback. Um, look, Keelon Russell, when he gets this thing figured out and he starts throwing on time, like he didn't throw on time a whole lot. You know, he was a little late getting to his reads and things like that. But when he does, like this guy's like gifted gifted. Yes. Like, like the good Lord came down and touched his arm. Paul's in no diddy. West his legs too. Yes. But he's a little dependent on the legs. Well, so he was a little bit like he was slowing some and then, but he can get you instead of taking a sack. Like I'm going to be real with you. It's almost a difference.

14:19Like there's not a whole like arm talent wise. You talk about Austin Simmons. Yeah. Like he's Austin Simmons with the lead escape ability. Yeah. Like he's got a lead arm talent. And when he throws it on time, it looks as per his you can ever, you can ever design it. But like he would see it and then go and then now he's a problem. When he gets it figured out, there's no question that he's the guy. Very impressed from a first start standpoint as far as the future that he made mistakes. Yes. Of course you knew we were. But when he gets it figured out, I don't know when that's going to be. But when it clicks, yeah. I guess the best way to say this is like when you get 60 minutes of his best, you're in trouble. And there's another quarterback we're going to talk about a minute now. I feel the same way. He's really, really, really good offensive line wise. I don't know because I wasn't there at an ask offensive line wise. When the picture didn't move, like they lined up in a base front and they played base defense, I thought Alabama's offense line performed very well. When they started moving post snap, they struggled with some post snap movement

15:21and they struggle with some, they cut some guys loose on some pressures. Again, I don't know if it was something they didn't prepare for. It was a new look that they showed or whatever it was. But when the picture was stationary and you're like, Hey, they're playing, they're lined up in even front or they're in an odd front and they were running, you know, inside, outsides on whatever it was, you're like, they got, they got on people and move people. Yeah. They just struggle when the picture moved again. Now they got to challenge this week, but they got a week on film. They'll know what to prepare for. That's probably the biggest thing. But the difference in this guy and the guys in the past is if you get, if you're playing man coverage and let's say you're not, you're bringing a man blitz, not a simulated pressure. If you cut one loose and he makes you miss, there's nobody left. That's the danger. That's why I think you got to be really good. And if you're Alabama, you have to be, I'm going to get a little geeky here and we'll watch our numbers collapse. But if you're Alabama, you got to be really good in understanding protections as far as it's related to simulated pressures. Cause I think you're going to see a ton of simulated pressures that allow the defense to play zone behind it in a based zone.

16:22This is going to eliminate a little bit of the quarterback run and escape ability, right? If you're man blitzing or if you have a spy, I don't know if I trust, there's not many linebackers in the league. I would trust and say, Hey, you got Keelon Russell. You're spying him. So if you watch the Ole Miss game, which we'll get to later, like Perkins was spying a little bit on Louis quarterback last night. And he can get there and make that play. There's just not many guys that I would trust doing that. So I thought I'll be able to look good. They got a test this week. We'll talk about that game in just a minute, but they got a test this week against Kentucky. Yeah, I'm looking forward to that game. I'm looking forward to it. And because I thought Kentucky was better. We'll talk about that in a little bit. But look, I thought it was a solid first game, hot as hell, but solid first game for Alabama. All right, Neil, Neil took the LSU bangle Tigers, minus 10. Right. Uh, against the Clemson Tigers. Yeah, there's a song Phil Collins and Phil Bailey used to sing called easy lover. You can just turn lover into money and sing that song. Easy money. That was I'm telling you.

17:24I never even thought that game would be competitive. Hey, shout out before we get started. Shout out to Michael Smith on McCraining's this. Can you welcome to the club? Appreciate you, Michael. What's up, Michael? Um, all right. First of all, I would like to say this is not Clemson's fault. Uh, this Clemson, I know there's a lot of Clemson fans that were upset. My man Ethan did not call back into the show. We're very upset that you didn't call back into the show. Tiger was looking for it. Looking for to Ethan. But this all, this all started Clemson had Clemson was destined to have this result. And it's simply because old school bet on him. He hasn't won a wager since the Reagan administration. And he's been preaching for four weeks that he took Clemson plus. I think he got him at plus 11. So it's old school's fault. It is not Clemson's fault. So this is not this blame is not to be put on Clemson at all. Um, look, man. I saw the same game that everybody else did. So I had a conversation with a one of our friends today on phone conversation.

18:24Okay. And we're talking about games and stuff. And, um, so he, he was asking, I said, look, I said, I see the game differently than a lot of people. I said, but with that being said, my wife can watch the LSU Clemson game and see the same things I saw. That was, that wasn't a hard thing to say. Talent mismatch. Talent mismatch. Speed mismatch. Enzyme mismatch. Enzyme energy. And look, a lot. There's a lot there. Look, let me just, let me just say I covered Lane Kiffin for six seasons. I'd kind of have learned his body language in games. He likes this team. Yeah, I'm not saying he's going to go win the championship or any of that. He likes this team. And I mean this as no disrespect to anyone else. I'm talking about what's in his mind. Am I clear? Yep.

19:26Okay. This isn't a reflection of my opinion. The, the, this is, I don't have the express written consent, a major league baseball here. This is just an observation about how I think he thinks, I think he thinks he's finally some place that deserves him. What I think, I explained that though, I think he thinks he's elite and for the first time. And for the, I know. And for the first time in his career, I think he thinks he's the head coach someplace that is elite, including Tennessee when he got there. It was too early. When he got to SC immediately, he felt like he'd been lied to. He got to Ole Miss and he always found kind of thought Ole Miss was a little too small for him. He wanted the Alabama job. He wasn't going to get it. Yeah, good luck with that. This was the closest he'd ever get to that job. And now he's got Nick Sabin kissing his ass all the time. I mean, which is wild to watch, dude. I'm sorry, but it's a lot.

20:27You even you have to admit it's weird. It's extremely, Nick Sabin is kissing the ring. Now, I know the ring says CAA, but there's something bigger than that. So, but anyway, he's dangerous. He and Charlie, why is junior of boys gotten a lot out of the quarterback play. Whoever it is, whether it was Jackson Dart, Trinidad Chamblis, and now it's Sam Levitt, and they've got size and speed everywhere. Yeah. Maybe a little slow at linebacker, but they're still good up front that I'm not sure it's going to matter. And they're really good on the back end. They're good. I mean, probably the best team I saw all weekend. Are they going to be the best team every week? I don't know. You know, the problem I'm having is how much of it is. And look, I know what I saw. They're a great team elite team. They're going to be they're going to be in the conversation every week, right? Yeah. So Clemson's not. All right. So here's my point is how bad like,

21:30like Clemson never had a chance like they weren't like they, well, they had the, they had to pick at the beginning and everybody was all fired up. And then that was it. They got stuffed quarterback play was not there. Office line play wasn't there. And then it was just there was nothing ever to get going that you were like, OK, now crazy environment. They had no chance to begin with everything is going like it was that place was nuts. It was actually from college football standpoint. Awesome to see, right? They there. That's a late night in that place. It's the hardest place I've ever been and look, whether this was intentional or not, I have my doubts. But they have created a everyone against us. Which is bizarre, but yes, but they have. Yeah. And it that culture down there that feeds that. Yeah. And then I say that as a Louisiana native that that feeds that culture of us against the world. You either love us or you hate us. There's no in between. You either love us or you ain't us. That's them. Yeah. And and so there's there's a lot of that.

22:31And which I think the one thing that I was, I was semi glad about is like, now the world, everybody, the world, everybody that follows our show and, clips to clips on social media and all stuff. Now you all know why I said I don't understand why we're making all this fuss over a tight, a rotational tight in a defense line. And that's going to play on first and second. That may be like they're, they don't need it. They're, they're good. They got a great team. And so I mean, you know, and then now the, I didn't notice something though that this was. I could tell and it's probably because he hasn't been on social media. But Lane has decided has made a decision that he's just going to go full villain. Yeah. And his comments about, imagine if we had NFL players going for two up 41 points. I don't know if you, you probably checked out way before that. He went for two up 41 points. I mean, it's not against the rules.

23:32It is, but you get my point. I do. He's going full villain mode here. And look, look, it's, I think he's dangerous. He's great. Yeah. It's great for the sport. It's great for the sport. Like I, I will actually, like I see that it's, it's great for the sport. It's great for the villainization. You got to have, you got to have good guys and bad guys. I bet the TV ratings, TV ratings off the chart. Like nobody ESPN's not complaining, you know, they're, you're getting their sound by, like everything's everything. It's good for the sport. Look, it's good to see. You're just a fan. There are so many national journalists that are coming to Oxford in 10 days. Oh, I mean, it's going to be a shit. I might, I was asking some of them, what are you writing? I mean, in all seriousness, some of them are sending national people and they're not even going to the game. They're not even going to the game. They're, they're here to write about the story. I mean, and look, Lane, Lane steered himself into that in a way that he's definitely in people's heads.

24:34There's no, there's no way around that. Yeah, it's, it's including Nick Sabin's coach coach. I mean, coach, coach, not my coach, Nick, what are you doing? Yeah, I have a feeling, but I'm just going just not my business. I mean, I've never seen Nick Sabin just take a knee and bow to someone. And, and I mean, Lane Kiffin. Look, I ain't, Lane's a terrific coach. I mean, I'll tell you, I think Lane is an elite great coach, but he hasn't won a championship yet. What are we doing? What is this about? You fired him on the Monday before a national championship game that you lost. You lost the game, perhaps in part because of this guy. And it hasn't been that long. And you're just, what's he doing again?

25:37You want me to get the other cheek now? What in the hell? You know these people. What is this about? Fill me in. I love coach. I will never look. Look, we will go, we will burn this podcast down before I, and this father figure should not. I will, you will never, ever, ever, ever, ever. Hear me critique. I'm not asking you to critique critique the man the myth of legend. I'm not asking you to critique. I mean, I will critique the others, but yeah, he's been good to me. I mean, if Andre Dawson walked in, I'm a loyalty guy. If Andre Dawson walked in here, I'd be like, Hawk, you're the greatest. I mean, I'd get it. But what is this about? Yeah, I'm with you. Look, LSU's really good, shocker. Like Steve Bartman walking in here. Look, I'm over it, but I mean, I have questions. Yeah. Look, LSU's good. We won't see it. I mean, they're playing La Tech this week. So shout out to man speaking of La Tech.

26:38I know you, I don't know if you saw this. My boys at Northwestern State are just taking one of them on the, on the Chan last couple weeks. They were the second ever, second ever college football team to lose to a non scholarship team two weeks ago. Yeah. Tech, Tech, Tech, Tech, Tech, Tech, Tech put an 80 burger on them. So did they really beat him 80 to three? La Tech big Northwestern State. You'll laugh at me. That line was 50 something and on McCradian sisski the other day, I almost did it, I almost laid it. But I was like, I don't know what's happened to my boys down there. But I remember as a kid, that was a big rivalry. It was a big rivalry. I mean, it was, they played actually they would play what's called the state fair game. In Shrewport. Like all kid in the side. Yeah, I'm not. I was like, do you know how like the Ole Miss Memphis game was a really, really big deal for a long time, right? Yeah. Yeah. And they played sparingly whatever. It would just like be waking up and just like, like, Ole Miss beating Memphis 80 to three, but not even trying. Like, it's just gone. I don't know what the hell's happened. No, I'm serious when I say this as a middle school or even into high school, we would take

27:42like the church youth group or whatever. Yeah. I know it's a big deal. We'd get up on Saturday morning. Go to the state fair. Go to the game that night and then come back. That was a big deal. I watched that as I was doing the show, a good game there, but you know, these stretches it out. They win. They cover. I also bet that one. And then the game you lost, I actually had the other side. I had UCLA minus two and a half. They beat Kyle 45 to 24, which is a really tight game until the fourth quarter and you should open it up. Yeah. So, but a really good game there on that. Okay. Nico got hurt then came, when I out his brother came in and then Nico came back for the, to take a knee, which was bizarre, but he did UCLA. Chesney, Eric starting to UCLA. UCLA looks solid now. UCLA can run the football. That's a team in the big 10. I watched a ton of big 10 football this week. That's a team that I would kind of put you to a little rate or up. I think they're going to be a little bit better than what people are giving them credit for it. UCLA. Okay. All right. I went three and three against the spread. I'm not going to be a little bit better than what I was doing last week, but it is what it is. Neil, I started out Thursday night, broke my heart.

29:44I would have, I could have cashed in and cashed in. But Georgia Tech, Yellow Jackets, the Joker came in, the Joker, it was not even my fault. The Joker came in and put a pick on Georgia Tech minus six and a half and Colorado. And they transferred and they transferred. Yeah. Colorado comes out. They went 14 to 13. Look, they're great for content, but all jokes aside, they did what they had to do to win. I know the Joker and we have fun on the show, but being serious for a second, they did what they had to do to win a game on the road. They controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They were very effective running the football. They ran like 50 times. I want to say like 50, 51 times. I think the average like 3.7 yards of carrying people are like open arms about that. But look, when you, I mean, they had the couple of bad snaps that were taken away from the resting yards. They did what they had to do. Georgia Tech had no answer on either side of the ball up front, which was surprising with Brent Key and his guys over there. They really struggled late. They got pushed around at home, which is kind of a scary side. But Colorado did what they had to do. They didn't score a lot of points, but they controlled the game from a possession.

30:48And then Georgia Tech, they could have, I don't know if you how close you watched the game, Georgia Tech clock management towards the end of the game. They were that last, the next, the last drive. Colorado doesn't even get the ball back. They could have, they could have ran a lot of clock there towards the end. It ends up costing them probably the game because Colorado, I don't think they even got the ball back. They were just in a hurry. They were in four minute drill with their snap in the ball, which 20-something seconds on the clock. They let a lot of time, a lot of time go off the clock. So a little bit of everything there, but I think the same thing. Once, and you know, and Jude Smith looked better as the game went on. He's a talented young quarterback. But when people start playing them and met and they start getting the safeties involved and forcing him to throw, I think, you know, them being on tape is going to not help them as the season goes on. All right, Neil, my first game that I put multiple units on because I was so confident in this one, Jacksonville State was 20 point, 20 and a half point favorites. They beat Eastern Kentucky 49 to seven.

31:48And look, said the same thing about Jackson State. We probably got helped out with the betters because Jackson State, the score was bad when they played North Dakota State, but it wasn't as bad as it was because if Jacksonville State plays a team that they can stay on schedule run the ball, they're going to be a problem. And so they were on schedule the whole game and they just rolled them up. Jackson State 49 to seven over Eastern Kentucky. All right. Next game, I'm sure we'll dig into here. The Auburn Tigers. Yeah. I had the under 58 and a half. That was probably the easiest under I've ever given my life. Auburn wins 17 to 16. I think some of my questions were validated a little bit about South Florida moving so many players up and they didn't score, but 18 against Florida last year. They scored 12 against Miami. Well, they turn around against Baylor and they score 17. Yeah. Well, this is one of two teams that I have legit concern for after we won. Again, it is over reaction Monday. We're going to jump to conclusions. But you know, like we'll talk about Ole Miss game in a minute and you go, oh, we got

32:48you know, the world's falling. We can't cover him by varsity and a super chat. We got to get to on your side that we'll have to get to in a minute. Oh, the world's falling all that stuff. There's things you can fix and things you can't fix. If I'm an Auburn fan, there's one stat that would really bother the hell out of me. They gave up 11 tackles for loss against Baylor. Now Baylor has invested. They're much better in a defensive line. But Neil, every SEC team is going to have defensive linemen like that. You can't and it wasn't scheme. They were just getting beat. Their X's were getting their ass kicked by the O's. It wasn't like, oh, our scheme's bad. It was literally this guy's getting his ass whipped and you get up 11 tackles for loss. Okay. Byron Brown, everybody's like, oh, he's not even good. Well, part of that's because people wear his face all day, but he had three picks, turned the ball over just a really sloppy game. With that being said, they found a way to win.

33:48They were a one inch away from not. The other thing that we can concern me is. If the dude runs the route the right way, it's touched. It's a two point. Well, no, that was on a quarterback. Okay. But I'm with you. He left. He should have got rid of the ball quicker and ball should have been out in front. Now understand what he was doing. He didn't want to make a mistake and leave it out to front. So he's making sure he called it and he put some on in front of his scores easily. Probably. But regardless, like the cut from a coverage standpoint, they had too many guys like they tried man, they tried zone. They were simulating pressures like the one turn one thing they had is, you know, they were dropping and changing pictures. They were creating some confusion on that. But like when just guys were running down the field, they didn't cover great. Um, my concern, my concern, I put them on the caution flag. My concern went up a little bit like they got, they got things that are going to be. It's not scheme. It's not something you go in there and change or communication or things like that that you can get fixed. When you're getting your ex is just getting beat versus the other O, they don't want to

34:52talk about talent. Yeah. Now, I got to see a decent amount of this one. Maybe as much as I got to see of any just because of where we were and what was going on. I'm not going to over react to one game, but I'm with you. I think you expressed that well. There's a caution flag. I mean, that's what I'm, I'm not, I'm not writing them off. I'm not saying they're done. There's a lot of football left. They have a chance to get better, but caution flag. Yeah. So like you got, you got a couple of weeks to get a lot better. They have because I think Florida could whip them. They have to because if you watch the Florida game, which we'll talk about it a minute, but if you watch the Florida game, there was going to be a, they're much more talented than what Baylor put out there. So that's the reason that he wanted that job instead of the other job. So I just, I think that if I'm an Auburn fan, you enjoy it, but like they got to get,

35:52they got to get, but not that they can't. Hey, this is a fast. I don't know. I haven't been for Auburn and the sample size is getting kind of big now. Yeah. Just because you won back in the old days, doesn't mean you're going to win in these days. Yeah, no, I agree. I mean, it is what it is. I mean, it's, it's, it's for real. So all right. And then I'll get to pull. If you don't mind that super chats up there in a minute and bring it up and if I don't answer this question, um, and you're in the MPW. I was, because we're going to next, Ole Miss 41. I had Ole Miss minus six and a half Daniel. Thanks for the super chat. It's this time. We'll be get the secondary cleaned up referring to Ole Miss as we. Yep. So we got Ole Miss 41, Louisville 38. So I missed that when I had Ole Miss minus six and a half. I felt really good there when I got that 14 point lead. I was, I came really close. I was like, no, I'm just going to ride with it. I could have cashed out, but it was like $100 short and I was like, oh, they'll cover. Um, but they didn't. Uh, Ole Miss 41, Louisville 38.

36:53So I got this new thing they all that I've been doing. You like this. So during the game, during the game, I've been putting my phone away because my, my text messages and my phone calls have been getting crazy so I can watch games. So I had a lot of missed calls, a lot of missed text during the game. I went down a half time and checked it, but besides that, um, look, there's different ways you can look at this. Right. Here's kind of where I'm at. Let's start with this. Okay. And I'll, I'll go the whole discussion. Okay. Let's start with this. We're talking Ole Miss here. We're talking Ole Miss because I live with two Ole Miss fans. I live in Oxford. I've got a ton of, you know, you get naturally get calls. And so for me, this is kind of where I think it's that I think there's been so much animosity between LSU and Ole Miss. I think the average, not everybody, I won't make sure everybody hears this. This doesn't include everybody. I'm just saying general. I think the general Ole Miss fan watched what LSU did to Clemson on Saturday night.

37:55I agree. And they said, oh, that's my former coach and he's gone. He's done this against an ACC team. And so when Sunday rolled around, I think the average SEC fan, average Ole Miss fan was expecting Ole Miss to do the exact same thing to Louisville. And it didn't happen. And that created, oh, we're not good. So I've heard everything I had it in a lot of the day. And it was on John David Baker's ass. I was like, guys, he scored 41 points against the top 25 team. Like, yeah. Like I get that he didn't score a touchdown every single possession, but it everybody's like I heard the thing about all the playbook and this. I thought we were running the same offense. Like guys, at Alabama, Nick Saban never changed the offensive playbook ever. From the day he arrived to the day he left, it was the same exact playbook, okay? But the menus different, okay? So like a lot of you go to a restaurant, the same restaurant a lot. You may not order the pork chop every single time that you go. You may have a steak today. We're going to have some fish today.

38:56But the menu's still the menu, all right? So whoever's calling the plays is going to have their own flavor on the menu. All right. With that being said, I thought in the first half, we'll talk about offensively first. I think in the first half, I think they needed to get in a, they were struggling to get into a rhythm. Since they got into a rhythm and started getting settling down and getting going, well, they scored what four out of five touchdowns in the second half on the first five possessions. I think they put it once and they scored four touchdowns. I can pull it up and tell you. I think they scored four of their five possessions touchdowns. And then they had a, the two minute drive that they didn't do anything with it and they would drive down a score field. I think they had one, two, three, four, five. I think they had six possessions in the second half, four more touchdowns and one almost a fill. So third quarter Ole Miss, first possession was a touchdown, five play 62 yards, second possession, five play six yards. They punt, third possession, three play 75 yards touchdown, fourth possession, sixth play 75 yards touchdown, fifth possession, nine plays 54 yards touchdown, sixth possession, three plays, six yards punt, final possession, eight yards, eight plays, 40 yards and a

39:59field goal to win the game. Yeah. So for me, again, I thought, you know, Trinette needed to settle down. They turned the ball over on a fumble and he throws a pick. You know, he was late getting back to his read. He didn't rotate. I mean, just getting. Had the birdie. Had the bad snap. Just getting, had the bad snap, put them lost, lost the first try. But he got, you know, he got, he was late to his read. He didn't get his hips flipped. He was way open and caused the ball to be low and inside that ball should have been, the decision should have been faster, ball should have been outside. So it's a bad ball, late on the decision that was where the pick was. Fumble happens. He was protecting it. It just came out. But look. I thought offensively they kind of found their groove. I thought, I text you this later. I thought that, you know, Lacey is such a good pass protector. I think they missed some of that lead. It caused him to leave the pocket a little bit. Um, because he's just Lacey's an elite pass protector. Um, but they, and they, they had some guys go down. So I'm okay. I don't, there's no panic button to be hit here.

41:00I honestly, I don't know what the panic is about. I don't, I didn't see that any different. Now defensively, it's just the way. People are wired. I had to tell everyone, I said to jaw watch the first half. And they were like, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like they had 70 yards of offense in the first half. Tell me about Louisville. Yeah. So like, where did Ole Misses issues come on defense? To me, it was miscommunications. Cutting people loose and poor tackling. The other issue they had that I haven't heard anybody talk about is I thought the pass rush lanes were undisciplined. Okay. They had the quarterback from when he was in the pocket, he was not very effective where he was effective was he was getting out of the pocket, breaking contain. Okay. And they ran some twists a couple of times. Real athletic kid athletic big strong athletic kid. He was extending the plays and then they were cutting guys loose on the back end. Now you're like, well, they cut guys loose them back in. It could be a myriad of things. But when you got a lot of new players in that system. Okay. Like, there's a lot of communication.

42:01It could be, hey, we're going to, we're going to be in too high. They come out in this formation. We're going to go three high. We're going to go to three buzz or whatever it is. They miss some communication on the base chopper out that they cut loose in the fourth quarter. I mean, I don't know if the front side safety was supposed to be in three buzz. He rolls down and the back side safety is supposed to be over because he was late getting over. I don't know if he was supposed to be in quarters. I match. I don't know. It just depends on what the play call was. I don't know what the play call was. So there was definitely some miscommunication on that because you were basically in three buzz when there were three safety. So somebody somewhere missed that call. So it was either the backside safety was supposed to get back over or the front side safety was not supposed to come down. So somebody messed it up. Who I have no idea. But look, all of those are fixable problems. Like if you're having communication, that's reps. A lot of those guys in the in the second half were because they had a lot of guys go down. I don't know if it was heat or injury or whatever, but they had a lot of guys out. That's some soft tissue stuff. Pete Golding said after the game, he didn't think anything was serious that would cost them any time. Yeah. So it's it's good that they got in and got the experience.

43:03It's great that you figure out a way to get a win out of it because you don't have to correct it off a loss. But yeah, I wouldn't. But this is where you get into the overreaction thing. I wrote this in 10 thoughts. A little. I'm just the opposite. I wrote this last night. Like, you don't know. I mean, I have a few thoughts here. And the following is not a criticism of anyone. Like you got to do practice the way you think you should do practice. But this is why we we at my site, we covered August the way that we covered it. It was a little boring. I'll own that. But they people, why don't you just reach out to some more people inside the program and find out what's going on? Okay, because coaches in August are the most optimistic humans on the face of the earth. They are like really good sales people. Really good sales people when they get up in the morning, they're going to go sell. They're going selling. Oh, they're going to buy it.

44:07Truth was, we don't we don't know. Like I had someone ask me, is this what you expected? I said, I didn't have any expectations. I had no reason to have expectations. I didn't see anything. Now, here's what we don't know on September the 7th. How good is Louisville? Louisville might be really good. I don't know what they will be. I don't know, but today, I don't know. I mean, they looked good. How good is Ole Miss? I don't know. Had Ole Miss played Baylor, Ole Miss, I think would have won pretty handedly. Had Ole Miss played Clemson. I think Ole Miss would have won pretty handedly. Had Ole Miss played who, who, who, who, who, who, who, who, who, Youngstown state. I think they would have won pretty handedly. Are we having a different conversation about Ole Miss at this point? I don't know. It would be dumb. Right? I mean, if Ole Miss had played Northeast, I mean, ULM, Mississippi state just demolished ULM. Ole Miss would have too. What would that mean? I don't know. That you'd kick ass in the sunbelt?

45:08I mean, that literally might be what it would mean. Florida beat the hell out of FAU. I think Ole Miss would beat the hell out of FAU. Now, on the flip side, I think if you just flippantly go, oh, there's nothing to see here. Everything's fine. I think you're being disingenuous. I had some concerns just based on the Ole Miss roster going into the game and some of those things played out. For example, do you have enough wide receivers? Are you deep enough at receiver because last year you were really damn deep at receiver. You had Desjardin stripling who's going to maybe start as a rookie in the NFL. He's good. You had, uh, you had Trey Wallace. You had Caden Lee who was terrific for Mizu the other night again against a bad team. You had Winston Watkins who plays for LSU now. You lost some dudes. You didn't bring in a lot of dudes. And I wondered, hey, are you deep enough at receiver? Well, all the talk about Declan, right? You lost Declan, right? You're asking Caleb Odom to play a different role.

46:09He looked pretty good at it last night, put your asking him to play a different role. I worried about offensive tackles. And when they lost the tackle last the yesterday, they, they, they, they struggled a little, uh, Kiwan Lacey's terrific and past protection. When you lose him, I know the other backs. We just talked about running the football. I thought they were serviceable running the ball. I didn't think either of them were particularly good in past pro. That probably changed the way that John David Baker called the game, even though in the second half without Kiwan Lacey, they scored a bunch of points against Louisville. Now on the, on the other side, I wrote about this in 10 thoughts a minute ago. I'm kind of careful with this because people, you and I've thought about this, people get angry so easily now. You know, a, a, a, her from Georgia, he transferred to Ole Miss. And then because he's gonna be awesome. I'm kind of Hanraze guy in the back going, he might be, but why don't you leave? People do get, you got that first part. Right. Really, you know, um, Braxton's coming off of an e-initi. Uh, Crawford didn't play a ton at Auburn.

47:12Got worlds of talent. I thought purchase was really good last night. I thought Maldonado was really good last night. You got a lot of new guys playing for the first time with each other. You've got a new offensive coordinator calling the game a different way. You just got stuff. But they won the game. They did what they had to do to win the game. And there was a moment there late where I thought, man, this thing, this thing might go the other way. And it didn't. And so look, they've got some time. And I agree with you. There's no question in my mind that a lot of the Ole Miss angst is because of Lane Kiffin, because of the way LSU looked on Saturday. If you're honest with yourself, you know, come in here in 12 days. You know what you saw and they're coming in 12 days. And here's the deal. I don't ever talk trash. I don't talk any trash. Not fun. But when you talk a bunch of trash, sometimes the bill comes in. Yeah. And there's a chance in 12 days the bills showing up at the door in a way that you don't

48:16want. And I get it. And I'm going to reiterate this as we get ready for that game. Both of those teams, one of them's losing that game. Yes. One of them is going to be two and one late on September the 19th. And whoever it is, their ability to handle that adversity is going to determine what happens the rest of their season. I give you some credit. He's losing a tech upsets unless you this weekend. I realized who it was and I was like, yeah. Um, I just, I was almost a little shocked at the. I guess everybody's angry. I was shocked at the reaction. I guess from Ole Miss fan. I didn't. I watched a different game. Um, yeah, I am too. I look, I'm not saying that Ole Miss was the best looking team. They made mistakes. I saw, but I didn't see anything that I, that was worth hitting the panic button over. Um, I thought they played well in times pretty much everywhere. I don't think they, did they play the perfect game?

50:16No, but you got your depth tested. You get a lot of guys in there. They got reps versus a great scheme. I was gonna say, man, that Jeff Brown. He's good. He's really good. But you, you saw a lot of stuff. So for me, I don't understand the angst, but I also, it's great that they have angst. That's what makes fans great. But, uh, look, yeah, you do. You know what it is. It's all kiffin. It's all kiffin. But at the end of the day, you got it like, it makes it, it's, you got a great coach who's gonna go in there and get the shit fixed. And hey, look, if you look up at the end of the season and you're seven and five or six and six, that's one conversation. I just don't see that. I don't. I think they're like, I told you like when you watch the defensive line, push the pocket and control the pocket, like, hey guys, hey, this week, can we make sure we keep contained? Can we be outside short of the quarterback, please when you're coming off the edge? That'd be great. Thank you. Appreciate you. Hey, look, look, we got one. They motion. Okay. And we're rolling down a three bus. Hey, you got to get your ass over here. Hey, you can't be biting on the, you got to stay back.

51:17You can't be biting on this. It cuts this guy loose. Hey, look, when they're wearing some kind of three shell and they're running some kind of two vertical concept to our side. Hey, corner, you got to apex those two verticals. You can't just hang out over here because there's nobody that all they got to do is look off like Louisville made the same mistake. Yeah. Trance, Chambles on his touchdown to which tidy was it? Four Odom. Odom. Like, he looks off the safety, comes back and hits Odom on the same. The corner from Louisville, they'll correct that too. He's stuck on the, he's stuck on the vertical. He's supposed to be apex. And if you're playing cover three, like, you got to fall back on that. Like, there's corrections to be made. It's one thing when you're correcting those things as opposed to, man, we were a man and coverage. Our guy just got ran straight, flat by, by a freaking walk on receiver. That's a problem you can't fix. Those are things you can't fix. Like, when you have fixable problems, it's looking at a different film today than the one Ole Misses. Auburn's looking at a different thing. Like, Arkansas. Arkansas. You got to, that's coaching. You get the, and there's new players, all that stuff.

52:18And like, look, I'm going to be real with you. Like, even if you're Lane Kiffin, like, Lane's not going to be able to get a lot of coaching out of that. I mean, he's going, they're going to come to Oxford a few weeks and there's going to be something in that game that's going to be the first time they've been challenged to correct something. Yeah. Sure. So I guarantee you, like, if you put true serum in Lane, he probably was, he's going to learn. He's like, I think he was a little irritated with Clemson for not being a little more effective. He was probably hoping to find some stuff. I think so. I might have been one of the reasons that he ran the damn score up was him going my God. So because he's kind of wired that way. You're just not going to know. And like, again, the other reason I didn't understand the Ole Miss angst and we'll move on is like, we forget like last year, they were one drive away from losing the Washington state. All right. Arkansas had the ball to plus. Well, again, I said, I mean, I'm so glad you said this. This is why I don't do overreaction. Let's just let him play. Last season, if you had told me, I don't remember the exact dates. I think it was September 4th and 11th or something like that.

53:22If you had told me on the day that Ole Miss played Kentucky and then a week later, that night as I'm going back up to the press box after Ole Miss escapes Arkansas. That's what it was. And said, Hey, man, Ole Miss is going to the National Symphony Philes. I would have said, you are out of your freaking mind. And you know what my next thought would have been. And this is the point about overreactions. It's not just one way. I would have gone, damn, tailing greens about to have a year, huh? That's what I would have thought. I would have told me Ole Miss in September of last year. That was week three. If you'd said, Ole Miss is going to the National Symphony Philes. That's the one piece of information you're handed in that moment. I would have said, damn, Arkansas has an okay year, huh? Because green was good that night. I mean, green made it in a fell roster. He's playing for the Cleveland Browns. I would have said, wow, so tailing green had a hell of a year. That's what I would have assumed.

54:22I would have said, oh, so Arkansas won seven games. They won two games. They didn't win a league game. Yeah. I mean, that's what I'm saying. I mean, you overreact so bad right now. You just, and I get while we do it, it makes for great clicks and all that stuff. But it's just, man, there's a lot of coaching that happens between week one and week two, between week one and week three. There's a lot of development that has to happen. We'll see. I mean, I will say this, if you're an Ole Miss fan, the rest of this season, you damn well, better be cheering for Louisville. You need Louisville to put up some serious resume points. Some bullshit explanation from the league officials and all that. So in case you're under a rock, Michigan has a one shot at the end zone. They throw it. The ball is out of bounds is touched out of bounds by a Western Michigan defender. The clock was at zero. They do a review. They put one second back on the clock. They throw another Hail Mary to beat Western Michigan 13 to 12. Look, this is so bad on so many levels.

58:32To say that you're working on a different clock that's on the scoreboard and on the network. I've never, like, I've been coaching a long time, Neil. Never heard of that in my entire life. That the replay group is working on a different clock. What the hell is that? Like, I've coached in a lot of games. 303 of them. The first time in my life, I've ever heard that. That the replay official is working on a different clock. Are we fucking kidding me right now? Like the ball, the clock is at zero. The rule is is the, it is the clock runs until either hits the ground or somebody touches it out of bounds. The clock is clearly, I've, I've slow-moaded everything. The clock is clearly. The ball is probably eight feet from the defender when the clock hits zero. Like, it's not even close. It's not even bang bang.

59:33And then they use this replay deal with, oh, there's one second on the clock because he touches the ball and there's still time on the clock. The ball's dead. Well, blah, blah, blah. Now, if he had left the field of play example, if he had jumped from the field of play in bounds, it wouldn't have stopped until he hit the ground. Right. Okay. But he was out of bounds, legal touching, as soon as he touches it, clock stopped. Clock was at zero. I don't give a shit. What freaking explanation you get me? What was the biggest bullshit call I've ever seen? And here's what really pisses me off. Let's reverse it, Neil. Are you telling me right now, Big Ten? Are you telling me right now if Western Michigan had been the same position, we'd have replayed that for three, ten minutes to put one second back on the clock. No way. No chance. Nope. And like I told people on Saturday night, okay?

1:00:36You know, when I was at Ole Miss, usually when you play these non-conference games like that, and usually it's the bigger conferences, but when we played cow, I think it was 19, we played cow, we scored, Elijah Moore, we scored, but it was a back then, a packed ten crew. All right, packed 12, where the hell are they, where the back then? It was on the replay and they didn't stop the game. Like I can't, like that's so bad. You cannot, it's fine, I understand, but you cannot have bias towards anyone when you're being an official. I mean that's kind of like official 101 and I felt like that was a bias deal, okay? As I hate that AJ's not on the day because we could have had fun with this one. But you can't have- You should do the cheering in the press box. You can't have bias in being an official. You can't have bias. Last night in the press box, literally a person going, get him, get him, get him, get him, in the press box. All right, that's all I could do. You serious? Oh, totally serious.

So this is going to be a shootout this weekend because I saw the Texas Texas State game was very similar to the Ohio State ball state game.

And you never know what happens at home and a four is tough to win in his league at home. And that environment is going to be crazy. Yeah. Got new coach lots of energy in a place that's typically not that rowdy. Okay. I think that it's going to be a very fascinating game this weekend with Kentucky Alabama. All right. When he gets opened up and he runs again, not compared to that. He had that run in the egg bowl last year. The game was kind of getting away and he just takes off running and he just kind of runs through the secondary and scores. And it was, they weren't, it didn't put state back in the game, but it was still a play that you went, wow. He's still going make mistakes and all that jazz, but like when he, it clicks and he puts 60 minutes out there. I tell you what, they played Minnesota at 230 on on Saturday and up there and I'm fascinated. And yeah. All right. Florida Gator 66 FAU 21, very impressive opener. Like they had some mistakes. Same. If you watch them on defense, it was a lot like watching. Little miss on defense. There's some communication errors, some things like that. Tempo got them a couple of times, but just you watch the personnel watch them move.

1:09:59John's got a good team and they can run the football. Balls real deal. They're really good on the interior of the offensive line. They got some really physical dudes up front. And then very athletic and big on the defensive front. I'm excited to see what they do. I think they're going to be a little bit better than what people give them credit for. I do too. All right. I've circled that game for Ole Miss for weeks because it's right after LSU, all this emotion stuff. And yeah, go ahead. Yeah. So just kind of my thought process and I left off Arkansas, Arkansas beat North Alabama. So kind of my thought process. Well, it's the first basketball game. All right. They got so they have a 930. They're in the late window this weekend at Utah. Yeah, at Utah. I think they're like 11 and a half or 12 point dogs at Utah. Look, after the first week of the week. If Arkansas takes many people there, they'll drink something like city draft. I've been around some of the Arkansas fans when they're partying. Yeah. I did watch some of this game because I knew Taylor was going to be on the show. Taylor Moore, shout out our guy, big Arkansas guy.

1:11:01So I knew I watched a little bit of this like Arkansas. They are well coached. They're very fundamentally sound. They just don't have the horses as everybody else. Like if you watch them play, they don't have the same horses as everybody else. So that's where I'm like, that's the concern. And then the same thing, my two concerns of the league. I'm like, dude, I don't know what it's going to look like. And then Auburn up front offensive line wise. You're giving up 11 tackles for loss. Struggling to cover guys is zone in man. And it wasn't about communication. It was just guys getting open. There's some concerns on both of those teams moving forward. Now Auburn's got what 14 days to get it figured out before Florida comes into town. 12 now. 12 now. Probably my concerns. But look, I thought Kentucky looked better than what they've been. I thought Mississippi State looked better. I thought South Carolina looked better, Florida, Florida looked better. And then everybody else kind of did what I thought they were going to do. The only team again, the one that I'm LSU may be better than what I thought they were

1:12:01going to be, even though I thought they were going to be really good. I think LSU is definitely in the conversation from what I saw week one. They're going to be a problem for whoever they play just because of the athletes that they have. 50 million dollar roster. Imagine that. You know who else is going to be a problem for people?
