Psalm 65: How To Develop A Heart Of Gratitude
About this episode
Gratitude can feel natural when life is easy, but what happens when your mind keeps replaying the small bad moments and forgetting the small good ones? Today we’re in Psalm 65 with Pastor Brandon, and we’re treating thankfulness like what it really is: a muscle you have to use, or it starts to atrophy. David looks at a season of abundance and does something most of us skip he gets specific. He points to answered prayer, forgiveness, rain on dry ground, and a harvest that overflows, and he turns those details into worship.
We talk about why “God, thank You for everything” is a good start but not a good stopping point. If you want real spiritual growth, a stronger prayer life, and a healthier mindset, specificity matters. We share a practical rhythm for Christian living that fits into any daily devotional or Bible study routine: write down what you’re thankful for in the moment, so it doesn’t get buried under the tyranny of the urgent. We also name the inner resistance that shows up, the “yeah, but…” voice, and how to set it aside long enough to build a fuller, truer picture of God’s goodness.
Then we give you homework: set a timer for 10 minutes and write as many specific gratefuls as you can, preferably with paper and pen. You’ll bog down, pick back up, and surprise yourself with how much is already there once you start looking. After you do it, find the Psalm 65 video on YouTube and tell us how many you listed. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a five-star review so more people can grow with us one chapter at a time.
