Protests and civil unrest have erupted in Tanzania's main city of Dar es Salaam following the disqualification of the main opposition candidates from the October 29, 2025 general election. The unrest occurred as President Samia Suluhu Hassan was poised to secure another term in what critics have denounced as a "sham election". Authorities responded by deploying security forces, imposing a curfew, and disrupting internet access.
