A San Francisco-based biopharmaceutical company, Okava Pharmaceuticals, is conducting a pilot study called MEOW-1 (ManagEment of OverWeight cats) to test a GLP-1 drug delivered via a small, long-acting implant. The implant, which is slightly larger than a microchip, slowly releases the medication over several months
