Clare FM — Over 187,000 Passengers Used Clare Local Links Services Last Year. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
And that's what you said, there were very impressive figures, and that you know, if there is an appetite for more, as we can see, there's a lot of people using the local links of us in the county, especially in rural parts. I see myself, Fervlin, you could say, Marna Nona Knight, which is simply fabulous and fantastic to get people from rural parts, into the urban parts and into villages where they can do the shopping or whatever is simply fabulous. And we can see from the records I got, passengers numbers in 2025 increased from 159,415 to 107,127 on earthroats, there was a fabulous amount of people that traveled under the local link, and without the local link, what should those people have done? That would probably be isolated issues in rural parts, and wouldn't be able to get to the
towns and the cities where they want to get to. Yeah, and it is worth noting that there was only two services in the county that actually saw a decline in passenger numbers, and even those ones can rush to loop head over 7,800 passengers in the year, Bally Vaughan and Tennis had over 44,000 passengers in the year, so even the services where we are seeing a reduction in passenger numbers, is still getting seriously strong numbers. I get and feel it's seriously strong numbers, Derek, that's what you have said, but for most women, member, does population decline in some of these areas as well, and that's something that needs to be taken into consideration by both the local authority and the government in fairness. We can see in other areas where it has increased in housing demand, we can even take the likes of two votes from the East area myself, the Minister of flag-mounted rose, as raised by 12%, which is fabulous, and the White Gate, Tennis rose, has increased by a mass of
almost 30%, and there's over 25,000 people using that rose, that did use that rose in 2025, so that can tell you the amount of people from the rural parts that is used in the local land, and it's just a pint and see the drop in the two areas you did mention, but my believe is, the ceiling face again, in the near future. And there is a conversation to go with that, that perhaps if look in some areas, maybe if you could improve promotion, timetables, what not, but definitely maybe we both shelter at both stops, we know something that is the strong criticism of the national transport authority, is constantly we hear from councillors that there isn't enough bus stops around Claire, particularly West Claire. That's probably something now that we have to go on lobby for, because we have figures to show when you roll out a bus route, it is successful, but now we need more services and more infrastructure. Well, that is why it has been worked on at the moment, and we have seen a number of bus stops going up around the county in different locations, and there is more of a plan
to go up in the near future. We have seen a handful of bus shelters, but I don't agree with you with the inclement weather conditions we get in this country, especially over the winter months, bus shelters are very important as well, and I don't know local councillors are fighting in different areas to try and get more bus shelters pushing players, some bus shelters have been pushing players over the last couple of years, but more of them are neither, especially for young children and elderly people using local link and school buses, both bus stops and bus shelters are very, very important, and the bus stops in place where they are convenient to people, and also in the interest of all safety, which I don't know has been looked at.
