All season long on ESPN and streaming on the ESPN app. After some self-doubt with all his Brewers fans here in the last 24 hours, how does it feel to be back?

You are Lock-On Brewers. You're daily Milwaukee Brewers podcast. Part of the Lock-On Podcast Network. Your team every day. Hey everybody, good to have you along. Chuck Freeman. Long time sportscaster here in the beautiful and great state of Wisconsin proud host of Lock-On Brewers. Part of Lock-On Podcast Network. We are your team every day. Lock-On Podcast Network. The number one sports podcasting network in the world. Locked on Brewers. The number one Brewers podcast on the internet. Coming up, we're going to take a look at game three coming up with the Miz on the Hill on Wednesday. The Brewers added a couple of players. Yellage comes through big time. Tell me why not write this guy off. He does what he did on Tuesday night. And we can all exhale. Yeah, I'll tell you, between Monday's loss and the start of the game on Tuesday. I don't know about you guys, but man, for some reason, I felt like I was a fan of the team

that was fighting for its playoff lives. Not a team that had a seven game lead and enjoyed the best record in baseball. But a team that was like holding on by their fingertips. I began to hold the self doubt and everything. The messages and Twitter and got it Monday night. Reading my YouTube posts and people saying, Jay-Jay, Jinks, the Milwaukee Brewers, when you said that they were already division champs. And it was like, oh man. And he losing the fashion. He did a Monday night. Well, yeah, I get it. So I was like, oh man, Tuesday, this game couldn't come soon enough. And it did. And Brewers got down in this game. And I'm thinking, oh boy, God, I am not looking forward to doing the podcast. If this game continues to go in the right, in the direction we think it's going in because it was three nothing. And it looked like maybe one of those games the Brewers were going to lose seven to one.

But man, they turned that run around. Gosh, I feel like every time we have a little self doubt about the Milwaukee Brewers in the regular season, got a qualified in the regular season. Something like this happens on Tuesday night where it's flipped right back. And it's like, I said this in my rapid reaction. If you almost feel like, thank God, we didn't lose. Instead of enjoying the victory, it's like, oh my God. Thank God we didn't lose that game. It got down to six games and Cubs fans that have been, well, I don't care about Cubs fans, but I care about Brewers fans. Brewers fans, they're going to be more self-doubt. Thinking this thing was just going to fold up just like the San Diego series, right? Brewers lost three in San Diego a few weeks ago. And then we all, a lot of people thought by the end of the Dodgers series later on that weekend that the Cubs would be in first place. And after Monday nights game, there were, there was a school of thought there, Thursday night, as of Thursday night, late Thursday night. If the Cubs swept the Brewers,

well, they'd be back in four within four again. And it would be game on. But instead, it's now an eight game lead with 23 to go four, the three time defending NL-Centered Division champs. And I got a tweet like in the second or third inning when the Brewers, whenever was, Brewers were down three nothing. Chuck, you got to stop Janks in this team. You got to stop Janks in this team because I tripled down that they were going to win the NL Central. And guys, and I don't like look at the numbers, but the numbers do point out. I don't like thinking this way as I told you once before. But if Milwaukee over their final 23 games goes 11 and 12 and the Cubs go 20 and three, 20 and three, only then could the Cubs win the division. Milwaukee, we have to go 11 and 12. Now that's just playing 500 base, just a little under 500

baseball. Yeah, there could be circumstances where they just fall completely in the tank, but I don't see that happening at all with this team. Like I said, every time we want to doubt these guys, they turn things around began to turn it around a little bit in the fifth inning. And then they scored a run, sixth inning tied it up on the Vaughan double and then Christian Yellich. That is one of the big swings of the summer right there. Right? Yellich had the big home run against the White Sox early in the season, but I'm going to put this as number two on the yellow scale, hitting that bomb the right center field, turning on the pitch and breaking a three three tie on an Oh two pitch from Valencia. Yellich takes an offer on Monday, despite what he had done before the previous 10 games. And again, people are throwing darts at Yellich.

But again, every time we want to throw him throw him away, he bats six against the left hander, eventually comes up against the righty Valencia and takes him yard. And this goes back to what I said yesterday. I took some criticism on this. I said yesterday on a podcast. I said for the Brewers to go where they want to go where we all want them to go, they need a productive Yellich. And I maintain that. And this would and something like this tonight. This is what I'm talking about. Yellich helping to flip that game, breaking the three three tie, hitting that two run jack and the Brewers coming back and continuing to pile on and winning that game. Yeah, it wasn't the greatest start for the Brewers. Some base running. There was that collision out short left field with Ortiz Pratt and Churio. My goodness. All three of those guys, Murphy

later said, and that is the left field are coming in. That's the left field. There's ball in there. That's Churio's ball away. He's got to call everybody off. And that's his ball. It's never the short stops ball. It's never the third baseman's ball. I don't know. Third baseman going out there trying to make the play. That's Churio's ball. They all collide at Pratt. Look like he got the best of it there. But as of right now, it seems like everybody's okay. But man, three guys collide like that. It's like, God, what are reigns and pours with these guys? But they all got up and Ortiz later would come on and put the cherry on top hitting a home run since June 29th Ortiz. This is what I said yesterday as well. God have him in the everyday lineup. Sounds weird to say again, because we all wanted him benched. But Ortiz putting the cherry on top of that blast made it nine four. His seventh home run since June 29th and since June 29th, he's

batting three 19. Now am I wanting Joey to be the third baseman of the future? No, I didn't say that. It does help us trade value, right? The way he's hitting right now, he's batting over 250. But Joey Ortiz delivering the way he did and coming up with defensive plays and all that. Yeah. Ortiz got to be in that line up every day. Hamilton, you could pinch run once in a while, sparingly play order. Ortiz got to be in there left these righties. I don't care. Again, this lefty righty thing. It doesn't matter to me. And like when yellow jazen air against the lefty, Matthew Boyd today, I'm not like, wow, why is he out yellow jazen against the lefty? I don't care. He could hit both guys and he ended up going yard on Valencia. So it worked out even through that route and the bullpen, the bullpen. Fantastic. Now, gasses are started this game. But here's where I'm

going to credit gasser. The Cubs hit nine home runs a Monday night. And the onslaught did not continue against gasser on his watch on gassars watch. Yeah, he went out there and he wasn't Frank Tenanabye. Any means, but he went out there and yeah, I love three runs. But it wasn't like the Cubs were hitting the ball all over the yard against the guy. So gasser came in there and kind of tempered their offense a little bit. And then Murph goes to take him out, has a long conversation as we heard from Sophia on the broadcast that apparently Murph told gasser gave him encouragement. This is what you do on this. This is how you can pitch on this level after taking him out in his previous start before he made his relief appearance last week in New York. His previous start when he was walking guys and Murph came out and took him out mid-batter. Remember that

against the Mariners? This one went out took the ball and said, hey, man, and that's the coach in Murphy. That is the coach. That's what we talk about with the coach in Murphy. Sometimes he's got to break him down. Sometimes he's got to build them up. And that's what Murph does. And was given gasser all sorts of encouragement. Hey, man, you could pitch this level. Love Murph, man, love it. So. And then the bullpen comes in. He looked at your rebay. First time since coming off the Andrew list worked one, two, three, had a couple of Ks. I think PCA and Breggmini struck out. If memory serves me right. And in a game where you don't have to use McGill in the ninth inning, DL Hall Clubs comes in and closes it out. It's a good thing since the tele. Yeah, I got a little nervous with synthetella. As Murphy calls it, the circle of trust, synthetella has not gotten there with me. I like the trade. But the early

impressions with the brewers have not been good. Now last couple are okay. Last week against the Braves got himself in a little jam on a Friday night again. Friday after the only against the Braves and worked himself out of it in this one. He got a double play ball. So synthetella, big out there. But the bullpen did its job again. 36 come from behind victory for the undaunted Milwaukee brewers. Undaunted eight game lead with 23 to go. The brewers 86 and 53 snap in that two game slide. Contreras. Contreras came up with a double in this game. You know, every time I see Contreras and what he does at the plate, it does in the back of my mind, I do think, God, I don't want to trade him in the off season. You know, you're two hits. I don't want to trade this guy in the off season. Not at all. He is a gamer and they talked about

gamers on the broadcast. Vinnie was talking about that on the broadcast. Gamers on this team. Yes. A lot of them and Contreras. They're led by Contreras. So yeah, two hits and just a heart and soul of this team. I look at it. All right. We come back. One guy who is a gamer, got a couple of hits, but he's he is slumping right now. Let me continue to slump. We'll talk touch on that. And what what a couple of people had to say about the Milwaukee Brewers. We get to that next Chuck Freeman here on Lockdown Brewers part of Lockdown podcast network. We are your team every day. There is so much NFL on ESPN right now. Monday night football, plus pregame and postgame NFL live NFL prime time. Everything you need to stay on top of every game every week. Unbelievable. And now NFL network is on the ESPN app. More football, more coverage,

more ways to watch footballs on all season long on ESPN and streaming on the ESPN app. Before we get back to today's show, it's time for the everyday icon presented by stance. Thank you very much. All right. One other thing Pratt. Pratt made a great defensive plate. Bottom of the six getting bush hung up between second and third. Bush tried to take third on a ground ball to short. Don't know what he was thinking. The run scored. Bush was going to go to third for some reason on that ball. God that's the ABC baseball. I don't understand that. That's baseball 101. And got thrown out and the next hit were going to be hit and that would have brought in a run.

So a tie and run at that point. So that was a big play by Pratt. Heads up play. Getting that runner caught in the run down. All right. They said it. Pedro Martinez and TNT says the brewers continue to bring in players who fit what they do best. And I'm paraphrasing here. Defense pitching fundamentals and they got the right manager for the position. Yes. They bring in the best players who do what they do best. Defense pitching and fundamentals. See this ain't about hitting. But defense pitching and fundamentals. And the right manager. I've been saying that for three years now. Defense pitching and fundamentals with an emphasis in my book on fundamentals. Although Tuesday night went exactly a textbook on brewers 101 and the way they do things. You know, the brewers way. Again, a couple of mistakes. Well, we legal laugh about it. Now it wasn't funny at the time that collision out in short left field.

When the guy is collided, I'm like, oh my god. You know, again, thankfully nobody got hurt. At least right now nobody got hurt. But man, you don't want to see three or all of the fielders. That should have been the left fielders ball. But they do got the right manager. They're defense pitching all of it. Great. Mizorowski. And I don't know where Mizorowski was when he said this. He was on an interview and he said he is definitely ready. He is ready for the big lights. You know, people question, are you ready for the big lights? Yes, I'm ready for the big lights. And I definitely agree with the minors right there. All right, Murph also said on TNT and the post game show. Said we might not be the most talented team. But again, paraphrasing, we get the job done might not be the most talented team. Might not be the most veteran team out there. Got guys under the age of 22. We're expecting a lot out of what they get the job done.

I've heard him say a couple of times about Riggly. Riggly being the biggest home field advantage. The biggest home field advantage. Riggly field. Interesting. Well, the Brewers have made that and fans south over the last couple of years. What do you think of that? Cubs fans. All right. The Brewers make a couple of additions to the roster. And I said this on the podcast. These are the two guys that thought that they were going to add to the roster because the roster is on September 1st expanded from 26th to 28. And Murphy, kind of without saying it, said he wanted to add catching. Well, Bownealer was going to be the guy I thought he was. So he's now on the team. Brewers brought him up to be the 27th man. The game at Williamsport, the little league classic. They brought him up to be the 27th man there. But Bownealer, we'll see how he fits in. Got to learn a pitching staff and all that. So Bownealer is going to be the third catcher.

And yeah, have a third catcher on the team. Terrific, man. He's going to get some playing time. I'm not saying he's going to start on Wednesday, but who knows where the way Brewers do things. You know, they call somebody up and somehow they always finds his way into the game. Like JoJo Romero. They just activated him. He's coming off the app of deck to me. Came in two thirds of it and he gave up two hits. But JoJo Romero and Nailer, the 27th and 28th men on this roster. Romero obviously, the left the left the the veteran left the out of the bullpen. Wearing number 33. How about the council memes? They showed a picture of Craig council. We're wearing the sunglasses. We're going to have to sunglasses, but the reader's glasses. You know, the dark ones like this, which I got to wear. So I can't make fun of them. Yeah, I mean, but he's wearing the glasses. And we're looking at his chart and Twitter just exploded.

The memes are out there with the council wearing their glasses, right? I mean, he's a youthful looking 54 or whatever it is. But, you know, wearing the word the glasses, those council memes. I want to put one on our Twitter, our on our podcast tonight in case you hadn't seen it, but I didn't want to break any copyright rules. Whoever got the game as broadcast on, well, the Brewers Network and TNT. So I didn't want to steal anything there. But, um, yeah, it was pretty, it was pretty funny. And the guys on the broadcast team for the Brewers had some fun with it as well. How about Andrew Fisher? Andrew Fisher, 43rd home run for Blocsy. That is the most home runs hit in a minor league season. Since Chris Bryant hit 43 back in 2014. Andrew Fisher. And by the way, you hear rumbles. It is raining and thundering like you wouldn't believe it. Rain all night. Of course, when I get on the, on the air here to do the podcast,

that's one of the biggest thunderstorm in the world besides the past through where I live. But Andrew Fisher, 43 home runs. The most home runs hit in the season form. A Milwaukee Brewer minor league or Garmin Thomas in 51 in 1974. Wow, Fisher. Like I said, I want that guy competing for my third base spot next year on the 20-27 team. What's going to happen when Fisher and Mede are on this team next year? Well, that's a question we're going to have to answer in the off season. But Mede and Fisher, I got to think both of those guys, will be competing for spots in spring training on the Major League roster. Fisher, who's third ranked, no, he's fifth ranked on the MLB. A pipeline in the Brewer's organization. He's number five prospect with the Brewers. But man, he's going to move up in the top 100 as well. And Mede, of course, is the number one prospect in Major League Baseball overall.

And of course, with the Milwaukee Brewers. Cubs fans, the Green Bay sucks chance. I don't get it. I do not get it. While they're chanting that, all the time, I don't get that. I mean, it doesn't, Cubs fans, we're watching this. It doesn't do anything to us at all. We don't, we don't get angry when you do the Green Bay sucks chance. We laugh at it. If anything, we laugh at you guys. What are you doing? I mean, that's, that's the route you take. Green Bay sucks. I mean, do you want to even go down that road? In, in, in Packer Bears history, my goodness. The Green Bay sucks chance. Unbelievable. All right, we come back. We're going to look at the starting pictures for Wednesday's game. As the Brewers will try to take a lead in this best of health. Well, it's kind of a best of four, right?

You like to get a split, but now that the series is one, one, we've awfully good to take the next two games and put those Cubs completely out of their misery. We'll get to that next here on Locked on Brewers. A Brewers game when you're watching it live. Ms. Rowsky takes his 14 and five record of 1.73 earned run average. Now, her last outing, the mom was slick in New York. And he had some mount issues. Let's hope Riggly doesn't do that to him again. Riggly feel this famous for the fake rain.

Oh, it's right. From a few years ago, let's not be making that mom slick for our guy, Ms. right. We need a nice mom for him. You know, let's not have that none of that funny business going on. So he's had five quality starts in a row. Lifetime against the cups. He's two and one, a 2.7 oh earn run average. He's 2.0 on the year. Two quality starts against them. One of the starts three innings over six at six innings. The other one two hits over six innings. And in the two starts, he's allowed a total of one earned. Ronnie is struck out eight in both of his outings against the Cubs. This year. David Peterson. Now the Brewers face Peterson back on June 27th. He had just been shredded from the mints of the Cubs. And he came to the Brewers and pitched well on the 27th. Gave of five hits at five and two thirds. Gave of two earn runs. Peterson career wise. Pretty good against the Brewers. Four and one, a

3.44 earned run average. Got a no decision as last time out six Ks over five innings against the red. So David Peterson and this coming up. Another 640 start Wisconsin time. Thursday start. It's not going to be an afternoon game. It's a 615 start. Little early because it's going to be an Ashley televised game on Thursday before the Brewers headout.
