Check Freeman, longtime sportscaster here in the great state of Wisconsin, proud host of Lockdown Brewers, part of Lockdown Podcast Network. We are your team every day. Today's episode brought to you by Fandall, college football Saturdays. Well, big one coming up this Saturday, packed with reasons to get excited. This season, Fandall's giving fans even more ways to get in on every matchup. Join all the action at fandall.com. We'll prove you the red series coming up. More missed thoughts. Terang is hurting. The Brewers split this series. But it's something I really want to talk about right now. I've been saying for a week now that this division race is over. But I think it is so imperative. And it goes without saying that the Milwaukee Brewers, not the team themselves, they got to worry about themselves.
But I'm talking about here in the media, the fans, the fan base. I'm keeping a watch on Atlanta and the Dodgers every night because they're lingering three and a half up. The Brewers need to avoid that wild card round. And I'm saying that with a passion, Dodgers came from behind, beat the Cardinals tonight. And I almost broke a bottle head at that. I was more ticked off at the Dodgers coming back and beating the Cardinals tonight after the Cardinals had held a two to one lead. Not to get a money on the Cardinals or anything. But that, I mean, the Dodgers, that's a big win for them. The Dodgers and Braves are three and a half out. And I do not want to get a situation where Milwaukee is hosting San Diego in a first mile round wild card series. Don't want that right now Arizona's got that last spot. But no, I don't want Atlanta and Los Angeles stealing this number one spot, stealing the
two spot and then Milwaukee has got a play in that that two or three games set. And sometimes it's been a two game set when the Brewers have gotten in there. So yeah, this division got to seal it off. Of course, but I'm scoreboard watching on the Braves and the Dodgers every night. God, the Dodgers win in that game. That fresh rate, it would be more than the brewer game tonight. And with the brewer game tonight, and I'm talking late Thursday night early Friday morning. So it's still night for me. I think the Brewers are playing with house money going into this game on Thursday. And when I say that, I was at minimal looking for a split in this series. I mean, after Monday night for Milwaukee to come back and take two or three, and that's just not a loser's mentality. But I wanted them to at least come back, have a nice couple of showings, which they did Tuesday and Wednesday. They lost on Thursday had they won Thursday. Fantastic.
Of course, they pitched well enough to win in that game. Logan Henderson, Mr. Quality Start was great again. Seven innings three hits. Retired 14 and a row after the PCA home run. Just been was marvelous out there. I mean, look how many quality starts this guy goes out there every single start. And that's why I think, as I said yesterday's podcast, he should be the number two starter in the postseason. That's a no brainer. But the Brewers gave him a nothing burger offensively. That's just baseball, though. The score runs Tuesday and Wednesday nine runs in each game and they came back, got out hit the Cubs five to three. Yet we're not able to. I thought the players at the top half of the 19th, ninth inning were going to come back and win that game. Something told me, but man, they went out meekly. They went out meekly there on three tapers in the in the top half of the ninth inning.
I thought they least show something there. But PCA burned them. They've been holding him down 17 strikeouts. What was he three for 34 prior to that home run? But that's fine. He had his moment. You know, eventually he was going to rise up, but they've held him down and we got these guys next week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. And right, Mrs. going to pitch one of those games, you would think Henderson's probably got a pitch one of those games. I haven't seen how that matched up, but I feel like the Brewers want to, from what I understand, have lined up this rotation. So both of those guys are facing the Cubs next week. But got to worry about Cincinnati first this weekend. Kevin Gossman, the guy who did not want to play for the Brewers trading deadline. Hey, my no trade class. These are the teams I don't want to play for Milwaukee is one of them.
So Mr. Right. I hope he pitches against the Brewers next week at MFAM field. Yeah, he was pretty good. He was pretty good. He don't need him anyway, right? But the Brewers don't need that guy anyway. Improved to 8 and 11 on this season. And they didn't give him, they gave him just enough off. They gave him three hits. Team lifeless gave him three hits. But I'm happy taking the two of the four games, moving on to Cincinnati. Bryce Tarrang. I'm telling you, little concern right now. I mean, he's gone through funks before he hit a three run blast like last week. And I thought, okay, he's going to turn it around. He took some late night BP against the meds that I thought, okay, after he hit that three run blast in New York, here we go. And not at all. Our buddy, Jack Stern, the new fanatic put on Twitter tonight.
And August 1st, he's hitting 176 Tarrang is. And that's not good. Not for a guy who I said going in this season is going to be an MVP candidate. Not good. And after the game, Murph was asked and he said, he had to raise battling a few things as far as injuries. Maybe Tarrang is going to sit out this series against the Reds. Maybe he needs just like they gave you rebay in the San Diego series. And we later found that your rebay was hurt. But maybe they need to give Tarrang who's hurt, give him off this weekend. Let him have a three spy days. Let him just relax. Kill up his injuries. He's got ankle. He's got knee injuries. He'd love to have him. But if he's struggling, let's give him the weekend off. Let him relax because going to need this guy for bigger days in October, going to need him. I was telling you about Christian, you know, how badly they need him to produce the
postseason. It's another guy right here. Tarrang got a post, got a got a break in the postseason. And right now, I don't want to say he looks lost to the plate. That's an overused term. But just not getting it done. He's just not himself. I'll say just not himself. You know, he laid down that great bunch on Wednesday night, terrific bunch down the first baseline. But I haven't lost any faith in Tarrang. Don't want to drop him down in the order. I still feel really good. He's hitting what, 250 or so. But I just think maybe give him three days off just to help heal him a little bit and probably needs more than that. If he's got ankle and knee things going on, at least just give him a weekend of spa treatment. Let him go into sauna. Let him get treatment. Let him get a couple of massage and let's get him ready for the cups on Monday. And if he needs more than that, he needs more than that.
But let's get this guy ready. Let's not have him play hurt. They're all the old saying is this time of the year in September, everybody's a little banged up. But it's affecting Tarrang, obviously. And again, need him for much bigger days. One 76 in the month of August. Let's get him out of there. Up in the order, not good for Milwaukee. The top three went over 12 on Thursday night. Churriol, Tarrang and Contreras. All right. Some thoughts on the Miz. I gave you some thoughts on the Miz on Wednesday night and thought further about this. And we'll talk about that. And when I talk about here with Mizorowski, is this Mount issues. We got to get to that next. Check Freeman here on Lockdown Brewers, part of Lockdown podcast network. We are your team, everything. And I'll get back to you this weekend. All right. The more I think about this, okay, he's just got to get over this mound thing, right? He's just got to get over it. He's going to go to visiting stadiums in the postseason. And you think they're going to make the mound just right for the guy? Of course not because the word is around the league that miss has got problems with with mounds other than Milwaukee. I feel like in the last four, I love the miss. Miss Rowski's great, right? Sion candidate. And that performance the other night, what I hear some of these national people say, well, Miss Rowski might have heard his Sion opportunities after giving up five runs over the first two innings. The guy's not allowed to have a bad start. Please, God stupidity. Some of these national guys. But miss has got to get over this mound stuff, right?
I feel it's like having the Yips and golf where you feel like your swing isn't right where it is at the free throw line. It just, it happens. You get that psychological thing. I hate going there, but it is. I think that's where we are with this. And yeah, it couldn't be the mound and all that. But the mound is never going to be perfect. If you're, especially if you're going on a road to these visiting stadiums, you think when he goes to some of these places to play, you think the message isn't conveyed to some of these to the ground crew. Hey, this starting picture, Miss Rowski, we're going to pitch tonight. He didn't like the mound little soft in front with his front foot landing. Of course, you think they didn't mess with the mound down it, wriggly or was the ground the ground screw didn't know that. Of course, they're the Chicago Cubs grounds crew.
Just like in Milwaukee, they're going to make that mound. They're going to make that landing point perfect for the miss. Are they going to do that when they go to Chicago? Absolutely not. Are they going to do it when they go to Los Angeles? No, suddenly that mom's going to be wet in Los Angeles. May not have rained all year, but somehow that mound's going to be wet. Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Diego. I don't trust wherever they go on the road. The word is out that miss does not like the landing spots in some of these places. He's just got to get over that and he talked about that. Not that he talked about getting over it, but he talked about second guessing himself. He said, yeah, you get in that situation. You start second guessing yourself. Of course, I get it. He's got to somehow get over it. I don't know if Murphy would tell him, hey, miss. Now, I don't know any of this obviously, but I would think Murphy would be like telling
miss, hey, you know, this mountain that you're dealing with, you got to, you got to, you got to figure it out. You got to figure this out. You got to, you got to move by this. This is just the way it's going to be. You don't want to have miss having rough outings because he's thinking about his landing spot. He's not getting where he wants to get to whatever it is. Because he's going to have to pitch on the road in the post season. But I think that's just what it is. He's got to get by it. He's got to get by it. Congratulations Trevor McGill. Reliever of the month in the National League. This guy's going to be reliever of the year in the National League. He's just been that lights out. Ironically, the American League reliever of the month for August was our buddy Josh Hayder. He was with the Astros. Had a great month. The Reds are up next. The Reds, 67 and 73.
And yeah, it's been a while since we've faced the Reds. The Reds have issues with Milwaukee. Well, when I say issues, they can't beat Milwaukee. The Brewers have their way with the Reds, much like the Packers, all those years, had their way with the Chicago Bears. The Brewers are 46 and 19 against the Reds since September of 2021, 46 and 19. They've won 11 straight series. Since 2021 in Cincinnati, get this on the road in Cincinnati. As 21, the Brewers are 29 and 12. 29 and 12. The game that stands out, the Monastery will blast it. Help them knowing their 14th straight game overall last year. That's the one that stands out in Cincinnati. But 11 straight series against the Reds. Hey, I know how I can get the, I know how I can stop that streak real fast.
You know how it is? I bet in the Brewers to win the series, which I'm not going to do. But that seems to be the case. What the Brewers of 111 straight series. I'm all day on the Brewers in this series. And then the Reds come out and take two or three. That's how I'd stop the Brewers streak if I bet on them. 87 and 54 Milwaukee is 87 and 54. Shane's own makes a start. Two night games Friday and Saturday, early night games like 540 starts. And then Sunday is like an 1110 start Wisconsin time. So I like these early starts. I'm good with them, which home games have started 540. Shane drawn who's the better recently, longest starting of the year. Last last time out, he went 99 pitches or five innings, six Ks against Texas. 99 pitches. That's a lot of pitches in five innings. But he gets the ball against rep louder louder.
He's a guy not really impressed with with the Reds. He's got an ERA over five, six and eight on the season. Got the win over the Cubs last time out five innings over six hits. The Reds, they got some bats. Team batting averaged out very good to 28, but sales Stewart. That guy is incredible. I take sales Stewart and my team any day, 31 homers 105 RBIs. Obviously, rookie of the year candidate right there, dealer crews, well, we know what he could do on the base paths. And at the plate 27321, homeers, he is always a threat, whether he's at the plate or on the base paths, a led other crews who I still don't think he's taking that next level with the Reds. I think there's more there there with that guy. Suarez, 20 home runs. You know, he hear that he's on waivers. I mean, there was a report last week that he was on waivers, but 20 home runs still a threat there out of the DH spot.
But drone against louder in the first game, Dustin man Saturday night. That's a big start for Dustin May. It is these last two starts outside of the one that he lasted one pitch. We're going to hit in the back. The two starts that surrounded that outing awful. Got a bounce back. Andrew Abbott is on the hill on Saturday night for the Reds Harrison. Need a bounce back start out of him after he looked terrible Monday night against the cups. He pitches Sunday against Cincinnati Brady singer on the hill for them. So the Reds just signed old friend Orlando Arcia to a minor league deal. I think he was with like St. Paul. He was with the St Paul Saints, but they signed him to a minor league deal. 11 12 years he's been in league. Former brewer Orlando Arcia.
When he first was a brewer, it was Arcia. And then he later told us it was Arcia, but Arcia signs of the Reds. Brewers have eight game lead into division going into this with 21 to go. Feel great about that, but got to get one of those top two seats. All right. If the Brewers are the number one seed, the season ended today. Would they play possibly in that first round? We'll talk about that as well. And Tyrese Halliburton drawing the iron of Brewers fans. We'll get to that next here on Lockdown Brewers. Thank you to our friends at Amazon for this limited break. This back to school season. Spend less than your kids with Amazon. We all know how crazy the back to school shopping experience can be. Starts with a few items on the list and suddenly you're shopping for supplies, clothes, lunch gear, tech at about 10 other things you didn't see coming. All adds up real, real quick.
This weekend, this your last shot. And you need to get the Amazon last panic, nine o'clock Monday. The night before school starts, somebody suddenly starts remembering that they need to folders, notebooks, markers, apparently many, many other things. Nobody mentioned before until Monday night at nine o'clock. Well, I'm convinced primus delivery tomorrow before seven a.m. feature was created exclusively for parents in the moment. Kids start school on Tuesday, get on it this weekend, but Amazon is the way to go. Low back to school prices with Amazon. To spend less than your kids and my favorite part about that convenience is don't have to go to the store. Don't have to go to the malls. Got a great weekend coming up this weekend. Weather wise, just do it online through Amazon. Plus you're going to save a buck or two because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spend on them back to school at Amazon. Spend less on your kids with Amazon.
Of course, you ever want to get hold of me. Hit me up on Twitter. Not free, but FREI, I am you and I promise I will always get back to you and hit me on Facebook as well. Leave your comments on the YouTube page. I don't comment a lot on those, but I read them all and you guys have said some nice things and you talk and you go back and forth and all that. But I appreciate man, all the nice things that you guys say and tell me where you always tell me where you watch the podcast or listen to the podcast, man, I love I love that. But you know, you got any questions, please DM me on Twitter follow me as well. All right, if the brewers, if the season were to end with the brewers, if they would, the season would end right now, the brewers would be the number one seed. They'd have a first round by like last year and they would play the winner of the Phillies and Cubs, the four or five seed. And I was doing some, you know, math on that today and I was like, oh, boy, the Phillies and Cubs and I started sweating. I was like, man, Phillies and Cubs, that's up. You got to, right, there's all good teams in the post season.
I mean, you don't want to play San Diego. You don't want to play Atlanta. You don't want to play Los Angeles. Arizona right now has got this that final playoff spot right now, but San Diego is not going to the door. But so that's what the brewers would be faced with right now. The brewers is the one seed would play the four or five. They do not receive just to refresh. Remember, they do not receive in the post season. So like if the six seed would get into this second round of Arizona, would somehow beat the Dodgers if they were the three seed or beat Atlanta, if they were the three seed, that matter. Um, wouldn't matter at all. Arizona would still be playing either LA or Atlanta, whoever got that two seed, but Milwaukee's would get the four or five game Cubs Philly. Wow. Philly to me, man, they're coming on. So when people ask me, who do you want a face? I don't want to face any of these teams. They're if you're in the post season, you're a good team.
I know we all fear the Dodgers, right? But Philly, this Cubs team as much as we, we hate the Cubs and we talked down on them. Um, that's the team. No, um, but the brewers can beat all these teams too. The brewers, as I've always said, don't have to take a backseat to any team in baseball. And I know some of you guys are listening to this right now and say, well, look, what happened the last couple of years. Well, I get it. But still a team that's going to win close to 100 games, if not 100 games, shouldn't have to say, well, we fear the Cubs, we fear the Philly's. No, when he gets championship isn't easy. It's never going to be an easy route. A tight Reese Halliburton would know that because he's not want a championship with the Pacers. Uh, he's been the NBA finals. He's from Oshkosh. He threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field, wearing the Cubs jersey. He's from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, went to Oshkosh North.
And the story goes where the brewers were going to have him throw the first pitch a couple of years ago. And then Halliburton and the Pacers beat the box in the post season. And the brewers withdrew their invitation to Halliburton. This is Halliburton's story on it. So what did Ty Reese do? Well, on the bench at box games, he started wearing jerseys of teams like a Cubs jersey. I think he might have wore a bear's jersey on the sidelines. Opponents rivals of other sports teams other than Milwaukee Bucks. So doing all sorts of things. That's what he was doing. So he threw out the first pitch tonight. You know, that doesn't the fact that he's wearing a Cubs jersey. Doesn't bother me at all. Doesn't doesn't bother me. If he wants to do that, fine. Now if the brewers said, Hey, you're going to throw out the first pitch
and said, well, since you beat the box, we're not going to have you throw the first pitch. I think that's a little petty. Okay. I'm on the brewers part. If that was the case, I don't know. I don't know why he says the offer with drawn. Who knows it at the end of the day. Nobody really cares. It's just a funny story. But, you know, the story goes that Halibut was offered a chance to throw the first pitch and then the brewers said, nope. And then he completely turned on the sports team, Sierra Wisconsin and hates them all, even though we grew up in Ropenhashkash. So it's just a funny side story tonight. And of course the Cubs, they know what they're doing, having Halibut throwing out the first pitch. That's fine. How can we get them back next week? We have thrown out the first pitch that would, that would, uh, you know, tag the Cubs a little bit. Right. Do we need to go there?
Andrew Fisher hit another home run. And this was a blast. Hit another home run. 44 home runs. Second most home runs in the minor leagues this century, guy by the name of like Phil Hyatt, I think his name was back in 2001. I might be wrong in the first name, but the last name was Hyatt. Hit, uh, has got the most homers for the month for for our season, but Fisher 44 home runs, the second most home runs in minor league, in the minor leagues this century from 2000 through 2026. He's tied for the eighth most in all of my league baseball history. Just keeps clubbing. I'm got it. My favorite minor league, my favorite minor league ball player. I know, my day is rated number one, a major league baseball.
But I am so excited to see Fisher. I know the strike out rate is high with him. I know it is, but I'm curious to see what he can do next year. I would think he's going to get invited as a chance to win a spot on the team next year. But we'll see. All right, everybody. Brewers took two of the four games, still got an eight game lead 21 to go. Looking really, really good. We keep an eye on the Dodgers and the Braves. And let's get one of those top two seas. Gotta go out. Reds, like I mentioned, they've owned the Reds. But as you know, these division, you know, they've worked for all those games. And these division games are never, ever easy. And the Reds, we had high hopes to start the season. They had hopes of a kitchen, uh, the Throne Milwaukee is the division champs. Or getting one of those wild card spots. They're having a disappointing season. They thought they had a great off season turned out. It has not worked out for the Reds who are sub 500 technically in the wild card chase.
But are they really like being five and a half out or so? I don't think so. But they're going to try to play the role of spoilers. The Reds, I've got a very tough September schedule. It's going to do it for me, everybody. Have yourself a great weekend. I'll be here doing rapid reactions throughout the weekend after the Brewers games. But have yourself a good one. And maybe we'll see at the ballpark next week when the Cubs aren't out. My name is Chuck Freeman. Thanks for being at every day or unlocked on Brewers Park Lockdown podcast network.
