3:05They kept on going after Ozzy Weisblatt. So we'll start with you. Could you envision back when you were coaching the team in 2003, 2004? The oiders were playing with about a $30 million salary cap and Dallas was at like $65. You were taking a pocket knife to a gun fight, could you have ever envisioned Edmonton would have a brand new building. And that building would play host to the second biggest hockey event on the planet, the World Cup of hockey, MacTee. Well, that's such exciting news, that hockey as we saw in the four nations and the World Cup will be another iteration that will even be likely better. But yeah, amazing developments in downtown Edmonton, largely on the shoulders of Darryl Cates and the Cates group and the other thing about it is that Edmonton always supremely

4:07supports these events. And I think it's going to be an unbelievable experience for our fans. Yeah, it is crazy, though, MacTee. You know what it was like at times, and it wasn't fun in like 2010, 11, 11, 12 when the team was rebuilding and trying to get in a arena deal done, but just put this in perspective correct. In this August, we have the Lincoln Gratsky, which is like a U-18 tournament, which is a huge tournament for scouting purposes and that sort of thing. Then in this December and January of 2627, Red Deer is a partner of Edmontons as Edmonton hosts the World Junior Championship. And then in February of 28, Calgary with their new building gets around Robin and Edmonton gets the semi-final and final. By the way, the orders have gone, the orders have gone on a Stanley Cup final the last two years and have been the top revenue team in the NHL.

5:10So far cry from when, you know, and thankfully, Cal Nichols and the group of the Edmonton investors group stepped up and kept the team here, but who could have envisioned this like 20 years ago? You know what I'm saying? Well, it's an amazing facility, Rodgers, it's just, I mean, as you mentioned, it's one of the highest revenue-producing facilities in all of hockey, maybe the highest. And a lot of it's just based on more premium seating, like the lower bowl is, what's the lower bowl is, 10,000? And I mean, it's good to spread the awesome fans, too, right? Yeah, and great fans, yeah, absolutely, and that hasn't changed over the years with the new building, had some pretty spectacular nights at Northlands, too, as well, but, you know, it's unbelievably good facility and we're lucky to have it.

6:13All right, switching focus, did you watch the game last night? Of course, yeah, I watched it, yeah, I thought. Okay, we saw the Leafs, we saw the Leafs, Radco-Gudas stick his leg out on their best player, Austin Matthews, and an underwhelming response to say the Leafs. It was a dirty play, wasn't much of a response, no response, contrast that with, it was a hard hit by Wiseblatt, you know what, if you're an order of fan, you're thinking, why is he hitting dry settler, if you're neutral, you're saying there's nothing wrong with him, but if you're going to hit a player that good, you probably should get pounded during the course of the game and the orders kept it all game long. And I will make the obvious point that, you know, payback with Ozzy Weisblatt is a

8:23lot easier than payback with Red Cogutus. Red Cogutus is a hurting machine. I mean, that guy is chiseled out of stone. We saw him at the Olympics play phenomenally well, but going after him takes a lot more courage than going after Ozzy. I was frankly pretty impressed with the way that he stood in there and, you know, didn't shy off. I mean, a great hit by Jake Walman and, you know, Pod Cogutus and did what he's been doing all year in terms of standing up for his teammates. I mean, I think, I mean, the lines, it's, it's, I mean, disappointing for Leon that he got hurt, but the rest, I don't know how long it's going to be. I don't anticipate it to be too, too long, but, you know, the rest will, will be great for him. And also it'll force some other guys into some more responsible roles, which will be

9:30good, good for the rest of the team. And we do have more depth now than what we've had at any point. And I mean, from my own perspective, I'm more optimistic than I've been at any point during the year with what I've seen over the last couple of games. The lines look more balanced and, you know, you know, there's been a lot of guys step up that have helped us, Matt Savoy, Pod Cogutus, and who we talked about, capinans, Caspari capinans played, you know, some really good hockey force. And, you know, that's significant when where Jason Dickinson is going to, well, we've already seen that. That's been a big contribution. Yeah. I mean, the penalty kill. I mean, arguably one of the hockey game last night. And I don't think anybody had more minutes than the penalty kill than Jason Dickinson.

10:30And, you know, Connor Murphy looks really good to me. I mean, I was not sure that, you know, I didn't anticipate he'd have this big of an impact, but he's fit in perfectly, I think, on the back end. So a lot of good, good acquisitions has asked in a much better position now than we were prior to the deadline, but is it going to be good enough to supplant, you know, Colorado? I don't know. Minnesota. Yeah. Only one of us. The order is going to do two things before that happens. First of all, they've got to be in the second or third or first. Get out of their, get out of their division, right? The first thing they got to do is make the playoffs. That's number one. Number two, they got to get out of their division. They'll be the underdog with whoever they play. That happens. Like if the orders are fortunate enough, and, you know, like, I mean, we're hoping dry settle maximum only misses a couple games like they can't if they've got a bunch of guys

11:34out already, they're already cap strapped as is. There's some limited options there, but assuming the orders get into the playoffs, I think there's a chance for them to do a bit of a reset on what's been, frankly, an underwhelming season to this point. I think they got a better team now than they had earlier in the year. What did you think of Cristoblok's comments on Sunday that for now, Connor Andrews, the number one goalie who's going to run with them a bit? You know, a bit of mastery at the time, but that's what coaches are a lot of times. And I being one of them was, but I thought it was unnecessary. I think, and, I mean, it was obvious to, I mean, he's had nine of the last 13 starts or something like that, so he's significantly outplayed the other guy for a longer period of time.

12:35So, yeah, I think he was telling us something that we already knew, and, you know, it probably didn't sit that well with Tristan Jari. Yeah, I mean, not that we have to be overly empathetic to Tristan, but, I mean, we have to give him a chance to as well. And he's under a lot of pressure, and, you know, that, that announcement leads to questions and puts more pressure on a guy that, in my mind, needs to be protected not only by the coaching staff, but also the players that play in front of them. Well, it's sort of like at this stage, it's simple for Jari. And he gets back in, he, he's got, he'll be the first to tell you when he gets back in there, he's got to stop more pucks. And usually the work in practice helps prep a guy, or it doesn't for goalies is, is, is the goal timing position so unique, Matt, that you can't base it on practice? You, you, when there's not a lot of things worse in this game than, and I'm not saying

13:39this about Tristan because I, I don't know it to be true, that, but the goalie said I've had that have poor work ethic in practice, it's, it's, it's a nightmare. And, you know, you, a lot of times you really are benefited by having your goalie to be the most mentally tough guy in your locker room, and I gave, gave Stu Skinner a lot of credit for that. Unflappable. And, you know, how do you develop that mental toughness? Well, it starts with self confidence and, you know, self awareness, but the work ethic has to be there because, you know, it's, it's a, it's a disaster. And then that leads to criticism and the players don't like it because they're trying to work on stuff too. And, the goalie said, I mean, Grant Fear, when I played with him, I mean, he was the hardest

14:41work ethic in practice. I mean, everybody had something on the go with Grant, you know, you come down one-on-one with him, he, he taught you, you know, if he hit the post, he'd tell you that's all I gave you, you know, but, and, and Broder when I had him at the World Championships, I mean, same thing, hard, hard working guy, takes all the shots, hasick. I mean, amazing work ethic in practice. I mean, it's extremely, extremely important for the goal tender to have a high degree of work ethic. And especially when you're not playing, like everybody understands when you're playing every night and you're backstopping the team to a lot of success, you know, get in, take a few shots, get out of the net, but when you're trying to find your game and it's got to come in practice. It's got to come in practice, yeah, I mean, I hope that's not the case for Tristan and

15:41they're going to need at some point, they're going to need him, it's as simple as that. Well, we got Pickard, don't forget about him and, and how he bailed us out in the last two playoffs, the finals, I mean, he came in, I mean, I would not be afraid to go back to him. So no problem with Hollywooders responded, good penalty killing, usually your best penalty killers, the goalie, Conor Ingram. I think he's up to 60% quality starts, that is a lot for a guy who is deemed to back up goalie, like if you're at, I mean, it's a great story, I mean, I love the story, the guy, you know, he was out of the league and now, I mean, it's just, he seems like a wonderful guy and very honest about some of the struggles that he's had and, you know,

16:42it's a guy you can't help but cheer for and it's amazing and hopefully it continues to go, be the big story. Matt, there's no question that, you know, the respect that the likes of McDavid and Dry settle, as an example, have for put Colson, and, you know, I go to the practices, as I go, if the practice is at 11, I'm there at 1035 because I want to see who's working on, on extra stuff and put Colson's always out there early and some days he's working on the right hash mark, trying to one time pucks and that's where he ended up in the power play last night because Leon was out. But there's another guy that's starting to emerge here, actually Bruce Kerlock mentioned at the start of the season, he thought there could be at some point synchronicity between Matt Savoy and Conor McDavid because Savoy can get pucks and make quick decisions with pucks and get it and he can think of it like McDavid, like there's only one Conor McDavid but I think there's been a bit, a little bit of a jump the last couple of games since

17:43they put Savoy up in the line with Matt David, what are your thoughts? Hi Patigree guy, I mean we, we really identified it early, this guy had high ceiling, had high ceiling and a high hockey, hockey IQ, great hockey sense, you know, still evolving, finding ways to get greater separation like he did last night with his speed, you know, he's getting more mature with that maturity, comes strength with that strength, comes a little bit more quickness and I mean he thinks the game really well, I mean the coaches trust him immensely in the penalty kill situations, a lot of times he's the first guy out there with Jason Dickinson, so a lot of things to like about him, you and I had a bit of a disagreement about where the trade will ultimately fall out with Ryan McLeod, you know, I just thought

18:53that when I saw what Savoy brought there was a much higher ceiling, Ryan McLeod's played very well in Buffalo too, but I still think that this trade is going to be one that Buffalo savers every grad. Well, I'm going to tell you if Savoy ends up in a year and a half from now like at the start of even even next fall, if he ends up on McLeod's line at the start of next year, with the way he thinks processes game trades bucks and can skate, I don't think it's a little bit. Yeah, like I can see him in a 60 to 65 point guy next year, seriously, yeah, me too, yeah, for sure. Yeah, he's got that pedigree, I mean, he was a high end score at the junior level, high high draft choice, I mean, obviously highly skilled and you know, developing right before I he looks, he looks good, and he's still only 22, all right Craig, thanks for joining us on orders now.
