I'm going to say this one time. I'm going to try my best not to say it again. I'm going to try not to say six seven state lost the game six to seven. So I want to say seven to six. I mean, that's the correct way to say it anyways. So they're missed with the victory. And then look, you know, Mississippi state played Florida. Look, you guys deserve more than for me to even talk about this game. We and here's only reason. It's because of it's it'd be something I've already said like many, many times over and over again. In all seriousness, we'll touch on it. But I really want to focus on the baseball side of things more than anything. But we'll get into the game that was Tuesday night

1:01in a top 10 matchup number 10 Southern Miss versus Mississippi state number four in the nation. Of course, it'll probably change a little bit after this week. But a really, really tough game. Mississippi state actually got more hits than Southern Miss. But man, oh man, Southern Miss got the hits where it really, really matters. And I think the biggest way to come away with it again, what we'll dive into in a second. But Southern Miss has an unbelievable pin. And I came away with it honestly, like out of all the things really, really blown away with how good their role pin is. And Southern Miss is going to be a team to watch. I mean, they always are. They always have, Australia always has them playing really well, but like that they look outstanding so far. So we're going to get into it. So Mississippi State travels to Hattiesburg in a game where Mississippi State starts Brendan Sweeney and Sweeney did not get off to a good start whatsoever. Gave up three runs there in the very first inning, walked two batters. He did have two strikeouts but just that was that was a tough, tough deal and then State gives up another run there in the second and by the end of the fourth states down 5-0 and really really not looking good and here's the reason. 5:11said at the very beginning of the show Southern Miss is bullpen not only is incredibly deep. They have really phenomenal arms all the way across like so starting Josh starts the game has I mean they all only pitched you know an inning each he has two strikeouts. You know then he hands the the ball over like all these guys really were pitching you know 20-ish pitches a piece and Mississippi State was having trouble, trouble trying to find a way to hit against this team and especially through the first five innings I mean State could not could not find a way to to to escape to escape the just a precision I think that's what I was looking for the precision that these pitchers had I mean they were on blue 10 strikeouts there in the nine innings but like it was like clockwork they would come in

6:13they would pitch again like I said 15-20 pitches that was it pitching inning and then move in for the next guy and it was like the next guy did not skip a beat and I don't know I mean I just as I was looking through I was like I really haven't seen I mean I'm sure those who are much more well versed in baseball than I am I just don't recall a team doing that like each inning kind of bringing in you know somebody else I feel like Mississippi State had to bring in different guys just to stop the bleeding but bringing swinging not not a great outing there in his start for the Bulldogs State did get some momentum Jack Gleason he did give up a run but he didn't have five strikeouts didn't walk anybody Charlie Foster came in really really fought through a tough situation got to strike out and I only walked one guy Maddox Miller had had some had some tough things gave up some you know I'll say he had a he only had 20 total pitches and just was not able to kind of close close the deal with with the Southern Miss team and look Southern Miss as we we mentioned

7:17Southern Miss has been a good team forever this might be a special team in Hattiesburg because of how deep the bull pin is and and also it's not like it's it's a bull pin that's just filled with guys that have been around forever I mean that there's a lot of experience in the team but there's some freshmen in here that were contributing in a really positive way I came away incredibly impressed with Southern Miss for Mississippi State you know there's a couple of takeaways I mean that the base running got in their way yet again with with some outs and kind of overshooting it maybe it's just the aggressiveness of the base running but it's just the base running is something that needs work and look you're only whatever it is 13 games into the season you got some time but that was something that that seemed to to bite Mississippi State in this game and yet the Bulldogs still fought back I mean look that's three runs they're in the seventh inning and just we're not able to make a make a close kind of comeback there after the seventh a Southern Miss and

8:18came to Clark came in for the save and did so successfully it's fourth of the season but again Mississippi State did have nine hits the Southern Miss is seven but the Bulldogs just could not get it done and look I mean it might be a different game of states able to to not have the first inning or really if Southern Miss is not able to have the first inning that they had through the first two innings scoring four runs to state zero but the offense just took a minute to get going and you know the the announcers mentioned it in the game state states had a tendency to come back in games from being down early for whatever it is reason state has just not been like an out of the gate ready to go team they kind of warm up which and one sense can be kind of you know encouraging because okay well everybody's going to get down at some point but can they fight back I think state fights that's the good news the unfortunate thing is can they can they fight in the beginning to to make it to make it a closer game throughout but at the plate Reed Stalman had the best best day of anybody three for four had three RBI's know a Sullivan he he hit the ball really really hard

9:23but end up being one for four had had a couple that were there at the very kind of the warning track but he did have a double in two RBI's after that man it's just just a tough day for Bulldog batters on a on a consistency part of it but state gets an opportunity this weekend state has is hosting the Nashville base limpsicum what is limpsicum they're the bison okay that's weird the Lipsicum bison I don't know man when I think in Nashville I don't really think about bison I think more like you know ice vanilla lattes and that kind of thing I don't even think country music anymore and this one I'm just thinking like depends on what part of Nashville but usually I have to go to Nashville for work I'm thinking like you know guy with cool slip back Gen Z here and yeah and an almond milk latte right there but state does take on Lipsicum and and Lipsicum is coming off of a series where they split with Toledo to two they're in Nashville

10:24they they lost the series or probably one of the series against Dayton for the opening weekend but overall this team is six and five for the season not really not getting off to an electric start after state they go on the road at Memphis and you know in in state you're just just kind of looking at the the last game they had versus Toledo to kind of even up the series um that they have some guys that can hit the ball and we're we're very successful against Toledo I don't know if just based on the on what I've looked at with with Toledo if the pitching is going to be the thing like well let me put it this way I don't know the next time Mississippi State is going to play a team that has a bullpen as good as as southern miss I mean kind of looking at the schedule here uh yet to lane you go on the road at Arkansas I mean I think I would take I think I would take southern misses pitching over Arkansas and I mean maybe Arkansas's bats but then you kind of move on after that kind of looking in the SEC then you go to a team like Vanderbilt okay

11:25well then you you can convince you know somewhere in there but states states going to have a southern miss is going to be one of the better matchups that they have one of the better challenges rather that they have uh all season which is a good test it's unfortunate to come out of a tournament immediately into a difficult game on the road uh but state did so let's switch over to basketball Mississippi State uh traveled to to Florida um and the gators who's one of the best teams in the nation fighting for a number one overall seed beat Mississippi State 108 to 74 now here's the unfortunate thing I so if you guys looked at the spread of this game was 22 and a half in in Florida's favor of course and I tweeted out I actually think this is going to be closer than what Vegas thinks and you know what for the first 10 minutes of that game I got to be real with you I really felt like the smartest guy on the room like state state was making some shots to start the game there they were beating Florida um by 10s 24 14 I thought oh man like let's

12:26you know stay might not win this game but let's don't be able to cover the 22 and a half of course and I was I was very wrong I was incredibly incredibly wrong look again this well actually I tell you here's a great stat they can kind of point out the difference in between these two teams and really what state has lacked in all season rebounding for Florida 53 rebounds to Mississippi State's 26 26 that's all you need that means really all you need to know state states not had that that presence all and I know I just went into saying look I'm not going to do the thing that or where I tell you everything you already know you already know this like state does not have a presence down low that can compete with with other teams that is kind of one of those better luck next year we'll see how it goes state closes the season regular season uh in start will on Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs um like I mentioned they're in start will um Georgia is a team that is coming off

13:30of a 88 80 loss to Vanderbilt but the week before then they had an eight point victory over Kentucky they lost the same Florida team by 20 um just kind of an up and down season for for Georgia I mean they're not you know they're not a team that's going to make the tournament at this point I wouldn't wouldn't suspect unless they go in a big run uh I mean really they'd have to win it when the SEC tournament overall to get in but um state has a chance to kind of make it a positive into the regular season and just hope to play well in the SEC tournament and win a game or two but I mean right now states states playing on Wednesday and I don't know if you guys remember but that weird weird when COVID and everything kind of started to ramp up that Wednesday night of the SEC tournaments the really the day I remember being like this is all very weird you know and in like end up having to you know no one's gonna play anymore games teams are kind of clearing off the court it was just a very odd feeling so this this march always feels kind of like just kind of weird maybe eerie a little bit um playing on Wednesday feels very eerie because it's not a good thing but
