Melvin Ignatow

About this episode

Mel Ignatow murdered his fiancee Brenda Schaefer in Louisville, KY in September 1988. He enlisted the help a former girlfriend who ultimately turned on him. But a jury acquitted Ignatow of the murder of Brenda Schaefer. Six months after the trial, incriminating evidence was found in his house leaving no doubt that he murdered Brenda. Double jeopardy barred the state from going after Ignatow for the murder. Authorities would have to find another avenue to prosecute Ignatow.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss "the most hated man in Louisville" Mel Ignatow. Did the juror get it wrong in his trial or did the prosecution not have enough evidence to prove he committed the murder? You be the judge.
