The MPW Digital Podcast Network proudly presents McCrady and Siskie, powered by rain total body fuel. Join longtime SEC beatwriter Neil McCrady and former South Alabama assistant, Alabama staffer, and Ole Miss recruiting coordinator Tyler Siskie for an hour of football and fun. Listen and enjoy as they talk ball, the national landscape, and much, much more. Now, here's your host in the Clark Ford Studios, Neil McCrady. Welcome into episode 348 of McCrady and Siskie, powered by rain total body fuel. I'm Neil McCrady in the Clark Ford Studios here in Oxford, Mississippi, where it's quite warm today. It's quite warm today. It's got out and about a little bit this morning running a couple of, well, one air into a grocery store. It's not a couple air, it's just one air into a grocery store and back. It's quite warm today in Oxford as we...
The calendar's March. This is March. This is March. I'm trying not to tweet at all. I've barely tweeted, I'm 43 days into offending a lot of people. I have enjoyed my 43 days of basically being completely off social media. I have enjoyed it. It has been freeing. Yeah, I've kind of liked it. I've kind of liked it. Yeah. I've enjoyed completely close. I don't tell people about what's going on in my world. It's good. I've had a lot of stuff going on in my world. I've kept it to myself and it's been nice. I love it. I love it. You don't even know some of the stuff. By the way, I'm joined. I'm joined by three time world champion. That's right. He's in Arlington, Texas. He is the offensive coordinator for the Birmingham stallions of the United.
That is the football league 26 days away from their season opener in Louisville, Kentucky against the Louisville Kings. That game on a Friday night training camp training camp and full, full bloom right now there in Arlington. It's the reason one of the reasons that we are taping here on a Sunday at 1110 central standard time. Central daylight time kicks in in six days. By the way, we go from standard time to daylight time in a week. That means we go. That means we lose an hour right of sleep. Is that right? Is that correct? Yes, we spring forward. So you will. You will lose an hour. I totally, I totally forgot about that. Yeah, I'm not. I'm like, that'll be fun. That'll be fun. Well, Neil, we are powered by rain total body fuel. We are this. This is something. This is big. This is big. Your boy is rocking with the harvest. Great. This morning, rain storm. Shout out to Bob. Shout out to Greg. All the folks at rain.
Got the notification yesterday. We have an 18 wheeler of rain arriving at UFL headquarters. Very shortly. Are you sharing with the other franchises or is this just a stallions thing? This is going to be this is going to be I'm taking care of my boys. You know, I mean, I'm just going to take care of my boys. I need to make sure that we are powered. Not only by grit, toughness, and a competitive mindset, but we're also powered by rain, because that's what elite athletes do. So we're going to use this as a competitive advantage. This shout out to my guy, Cody, my wide receivers coach, huge, huge rain guy was a rain guy. He was like juiced when I came in, I came in drinking a rain one day. He's like, oh, he's, he's, he crushes to the point where I had to check on him yesterday. He was really juiced at practice. Really, really juiced at practice. And I was like, did you have a rain right before practice? He goes, yep, I had one at 10 and one at breakfast. He was three rains deep going in the practice. So my guy was juiced a little bit yesterday at practice. He was, he had the, he had the caffeine and the BCA age running through him. But I am going with the harvest grape this morning. And you may ask, time, why are you going with the harvest grape this morning? You're not going with the fully loaded, fully loaded black and rain this morning. That's because every guy.
Every gas station between my house and the headquarters is completely the shelves are empty. They have been, they are selling like hotcakes here in Arlington because the word is out. Democratic isiskey is in Arlington, and they're supporting the show. So let's go to rain. The only, the only inner drink that sells out. I just want to say that. That's the only inner drink that sells out in this rain. So I'm really with the harvest grape. And we actually did have, we had, we only had two roads. We only had the harvest grape left. Harvest grape and the, what was the other flare they had left? They had one more thing was the strawberry. I think the strawberry they had, they had that left. So I went with harvest grape this morning on the way in the office. So shout out to send in that the rain getting us going, but Neil, as you already know, the key of meridian chat. But the inventory is limited to make sure you go to county line campers.com that's county line campers.com or stop by anytime. And when you think about camping, think about county line campers. How about that? How about that? Well done. Well done. The best ad reader in America. It is. That's that's the rumor. I mean, it's unbelievable. Unbelievable. Some people say, you know, some people say, you know, some people say the greatest. Some people say the greatest live ready. You know, just is what it is.
You know, it's the rumor. All right. Let's get rolling. So what do you do? Do you even know? I know it's a day off. Y'all don't practice today. Is it a day where you get any time away from football or I also camp locked in that you're pretty locked in. So I kind of use Sunday as my Sunday's players day off, mandatory PA deal for during camp. I have no, we have a players day off during the season. It's based on when the games are because we play Friday Saturdays and Sundays. We will have a, it's pretty cool. It's really good for the league. They're going to have a Friday night every week. We'll have a Friday night primetime game. That will be on. I believe Fox carries them all. I'm not 100% positive on that. But I know our first game. We have the first Friday night crown, the first game of the year at Louisville. I'm not just King's obviously we talked about. By the way, that's what reminded me. I saw Mac Brown. Mac Brown is punting for the Kings. I saw him in the.
It was Mac. Crown I were walking up. We were on the second floor. So we were walking up. We were the elevators get kind of bogged down with all the teams. So we just, I use the stairs. Most of the time since we're on the second floor. And Matt and I were walking up the stairs and Mack was walking down him. So I got to see Mack yesterday. No, that's my guy. Okay. No, my guy. So, but he just just a just a unbelievable human being and you know, I was with us at Ole Miss and and he's a punning for the Kings and and what's crazy is you got eight teams in this building and I rarely see anyone because you're it's just how it got it's weird. Now, you'll see people like when you're walking to the door, but there's eight teams. You'll see people like the lobby and stuff coming in or out of the building, but you you don't see anybody here in the day, even though we're within probably I don't know 500 feet of each other. Probably everybody 600 feet. This is bizarre, but it's that's the brilliance of the league. They
sort of designed this because they knew that if they allowed too much, I mean, it would turn into like that scene from Anchorman where it just goes, hey, why are people people are breaking out like spiked balls. It's just going to get ugly. It was going to get ugly, man. I mean, it still is. I mean we were like we were right next to like the Columbus Aviators, right? And we actually played them Tuesday and a joint practice. We have a joint practice for them on Tuesday. And we went over, I don't know what today was. I don't know. Maybe Thursday, Thursday or Friday, I don't remember what when it was. We went over to there. We went to meet the coordinators and the head coach went to go meet to discuss how we're going to set up the joint practice. That was tense. And that was the first time we're right next to each other. That was the first time I'd seen any coach from their staff. And we're a hundred feet from each other. And it was, it was, it's just
bizarre how it works out. And we actually, we both practice our both of our teams. We practice in the same stadium. We practice at, you know, Choctaw Stadium, the old ballpark at Arlington. And they practice from eight to 12. And then we have it from 12 to four every day. And we don't practice the whole time. That's our window. And we never see each other. It's kind of unique and bizarre at the same time. So we practice them on Tuesday, joint practice and had to get all that set up and organized. But yesterday, finished, finished our first full week of camp yesterday. It's, so we're six days in of practice, practice Monday through, through Saturday. And so yesterday, like I said, they'll show the other day. Yesterday was our first day of full pads. But it's kind of hilarious because the players don't, like I said this, I don't think fans. And when you think full pads, okay, like you think, you know, most people haven't played in college or or most of them played high school or familiar with high school. But the, the pro guys, they don't
wear pads anyway. Like, so like AJ, like in their pants, they like in the games, they don't wear them. So AJ came out and said, okay, for yesterday, make sure you wear your, your thigh patch, right? So when you think of, when we played, right? Or most people, when they think of thigh pads, they think of this big thick padded thing that you put in your, your thigh. They, they make them now to wear what gives the pad its shape, right? It's a little plastic insert. I'm not joking. The show turned us to the waist of my password and stuff. But it's like literally like this big. And it's a bit per thin. And it just basically shows an outline of a thigh pad. And the thing is not that like this big. And that's pretty much what everybody wears as full pads now is where you're wearing your, what looks like game pants or practice pants. But you're, you may have a shell of something in them. Some people still don't wear them. Nobody wears knee pads anymore. So the way you practice, I mean, it's when you're in shells or or full pads is kind of the same thing.
Because I remember as a high school player, your full pads was, you had the knee pads, the thigh pads, the hip pads and the butt pad. Yep. And that was not, it was non-negotiable. You had to, you know, you had to wrap the belt through the pads. Right. And that was simply non-negotiable. Because I can't remember players not wanting to wear the knee pads. And coaches being like, look, you, you might as well wear them because in the game, we have to wear them or it's a penalty. So put them on. And the knee pads were really nothing. They were just a little piece of foam. But you're right. The thigh pads kind of had some thickness to them. And I remember the hip pads and the butt pad being thick enough that you always had to pull your pants up. Remember that? Right. Because they would kind of like, you had to have the belt done just right or else. And then when the belt got sweaty and wet, it would kind of slip anyway, whether you had it right or not. And you had to spend a lot of time getting your practice pads, your practice pants
staying up. So, I mean, and they had started doing it when I was, even when I was playing. But when I, you remember like the, they used to make these gaudy hip pads, right? That had like, they were came up, I mean, way up on your waist and they were, and they were down and they had that little circle at the end that would kind of go over your bone. So when, when I, even when I was playing, we would take those pads and take a pair of scissors and cut that little circle off at the end. Okay? And we would get four of them. And we were just, just totally just tore up. So we would get four, we cut four of them. We put two of them. So we, you would back then, they would make girdles that had, we were in search where you could slip them in. And we would basically take four of them and put two in the hip and we'd use two of them as our knee pads. Like because you had, you had to have them. And then we would take those thick gaudy hip thigh pads and we would slice, we would cut them open. And then we would take the insert out and we would use that as our thigh
pads. So that's been going forever. But now, now they actually make the girdle already with the pads in them. So they wear those, they put the pads on and they put the insert in or whatever and go where they don't wear them at all. So it's, it's kind of, you know, it's kind of all the same thing. A couple of us, super chats real quick before we get rolling. Austin, thank you for the super chats. He says, McCrady and Siskie after church is something I didn't know that I needed. And now that I've got it, I just have it every Sunday. I think you'd mean to say, I just have to have it every Sunday from now on. Thank you for those kind of words. And then he says, um, Sirius questions, since it's Sunday, Siskie, will the UFL have optional church services like the NFL and colleges do as a coach? Do you encourage them? Yeah. So I don't know. Obviously, they can't play her day off. They can do whatever they want. You know, it's their day off. They we, they're not, they, they only think of reason they come in the building is to have treatment or whatever. So they actually, there's no meetings or things or players. They all
think do. Obviously, they're, they're free. They're off during the season. I don't know. I'm unfamiliar. I don't know. We'll all find out together. I don't know. I don't know what the, I don't know what the deal is for that. So I don't have a good answer for that. I have no idea. Do I encourage it? You know, it's a little bit different with, obviously, you got to be careful how you do that. I think it's up to each individual. I kind of do my, my own thing with the guys, but I mean, yeah, I always encourage it. But you got to handle, you know, you just don't go up to a random player and just there, there has to be a relationship built there and to have those kind of conversations. That's something you just go up some guy you've never met before and say, hey, be a good idea. You go to church and be like, looking at, you know, you don't know who you're talking to. So you got to get the approaching of those, all those situations, obviously, differently. But going back to it, I got, we got about really, really encouraged
through one week. I think we got a really good team. Better than what I probably thought. If that's probably the right word, I don't even know. I'm highly, highly encouraged really with all aspects of our personnel and what they're mentally, obviously, we talked about this on Thursday. I mean, we got about, I mean, Neil, I mean, we could play a game right now. We got enough offense in to run a game, to play a game, in to build a game plan. So really hit the accelerator on the install sheet, like I talked about on Thursday. We got about, I would say probably about 80% of the offense in of everything. So it's going to allow us now to go back and the things that we really got to work on from a technique standpoint and from a concept understanding and spacing understanding and things like that, we'll be able to kind of refine those. And we got plenty of time to do that. Now, instead of installing all the way through camp, we got, we got about 80% of it in. And so it was really surprised in that aspect.
And, you know, when you're, when you're able to install a play, I mean, guys that have coach football or understand football, you know, it usually takes a lot of time to get a lot of the kinks worked out or techniques worked out, but that's probably one of the awesome, more awesome things. I talked about the other day, how much I enjoy it. But being able, all right, we're going on, we're installing counter today or whatever, in outside zone, inside zone, whatever it is. And then for them to be able to go out and execute the first time that executed properly, the very first time that we've ever run it live or against our defense. And you're like, walking, man, that, that makes it. So now you can, you can correct them faster and you can accelerate the efficiency of the execution. So we got, you know, and then, you know, I had to explain to the players, we're not scheming up against our defense. So, you know, there's a lot of things that may be schematically dead plays, that makes sense when you're playing, because you're scripted and it may be, hey, guys, I'm not running, you know, this play versus this look, right? So we're just trying to get stuff on
film and get them corrected, technically wise, but really, really occurs. I think we're really deep, really at all spots in the, we got a lot of depth. And so, you know, the hard part is for us is, you know, we got 64 players in the roster and trying to get that number down to 50 by the time the season starts. There's going to be some really difficult decisions, because there's really good players. I don't look out there and go, oh, wow, well, he's, he's the guy we got to let go. I mean, there's none of those, there's none of those. So when you say 50, 50 active or 50 total, can, well, how does that work with like, because you know, you're going to have some guys get banged up over the course of the season. Yeah, so you have to have the roster number down to 50, okay? And then when you go play a game, you take 44 of those 50 to play in the game, but one of those, they let, they, you take 44 and you have to make a decision, like in case some make it sick or whatever it is, you like, you kind of take 44, then the actual
game is 43 players that are, they're playing in the game. They're active rolling and then one guy, kind of take an emergency guy in case something happens between the time you leave and, and you, and you get home. So, you know, you'll have three quarterbacks active. That's a, that's a legal rule and everything else is up to you. Got it. So it's trying to get those pieces of the puzzle together, you know, as far as, you know, how many you're taking at each position and those things, it's, you know, staff discussion and all those things. So it's, every staff's going to be different. How many, you know, offensive linemen you carry, how many receivers you carry, so and so forth. But it's a, it's going to be a tough process because I'm really excited about our team. I, I think we got a chance to, and to be really good. You know, the one thing that's really good about our team is, is the chemistry is really good. We got the right kind of, you know, I think our staff did a great, great, great, great job of, in the pre-draft process of making sure not only did we get great players, but we got the
right kind of great players that are competitive people, you know, using those intangible things. If we talk about getting the right guys that fit and I, I couldn't be, I'm excited, you know, I think we got a chance to be really good. So that would be, we were all in there, man. I'm excited to go, it won't be long. It'll be here before you know it. That is true. That is true. You said, whatever you said, 27 days, 26 days from now until like 26 years, it feels like it's forever from now. So it's, we got, it's a lot of time. I feel like we're caught up, if that makes sense. Like this is the first, last night was the first time I felt like we went from being way behind, because you feel like you got to, you got to, to where we're, I think we're ahead. Like we went, we went ahead of what I would call ahead of schedule. So we got, we've kind of beat the clock a little bit to where I think we'll be ready to, ready to go, more than ready to go week one. So excited to get there. All right. Let's hop into out of the style and stuff. So shout out
to all of our UFL media that always listen. Just tell everybody that, that, that tell all of our opponents that Siski said that the Birmingham style you stink were terrible and will be fortunate enough to get a first down and stop somebody. No, no bolts and board material for the, for the UFL people. All right. They're going to kill the Kings, kill them. Destruction. I'm just telling you that game is going to be carnage. The, the UFL's might be, even be down, down a franchise by the end of that night. They might shut it down. I was, I was, you'll like this. I was laughing, um, You know, without the punting rules and all our stuff, I was always joking with our specialist. I was sitting there going, I went out there to specialist all day, I always mess with them because, you know, they, you know, pros, the way you practice, you know, they just, we have to give the kickers days off too, because I can't just kick every day, right? They'll be soaring everything else.
So, I always mess with them and I said, is this, is a specialist job in the UFL? Is that the greatest job ever? And they were like, you have no idea. They were like, it's the best job ever. But the, the win we practice at the Choctaw Stadium, right, which is the old ballpark or archon. This, the win, Neil, like, I imagine playing baseball there was crazy for people. The win swirls in this, like, legitimately swirls, like where it affects things, like, in practice and things. The other day, we had a, I want to say it was either Tuesday or Wednesday. We had a lot, it was like 25 minor wins here in Orlington. And so, when you look up at the, what would have been the center field area of the stadium, they have flags way up there on top of the school board. The flags were blowing directly at us, okay? And I'm talking about, they were, they were stark.
They were, they were wide open and blowing. And, but when you're looking at them and you were standing on the back, like the ends on the other side, the win was at our back, going just as hard right back at them. So, like, when you were on the field, the win felt like it was blowing this direction, like, like fast. And when you look at the flags, they were coming at you the other direction. It was basically, it's very bizarre. So, I was messing with the kickers and I said, what do you do when you go to, when you, because they used to play, I think the Dallas team moved, but they used to play home games there. It's like, when we kicked in this, this, this stadium, you just, brother, you just aimed at the go post and aimed right down the center and just hope the win called it the right way. Like, it was like a pre, it was like kick and pray, you know, hoping it was going to go in because it's pretty, it's pretty substantial. All right, Neil, as we move on, we got it, we got to, by sides of the stadiums, we got to start with this. As you see, the hat that I'm wrapping the day, this is the positive vibes Mojo for our boy Taylor Moore.
Taylor is one off the lead going into Sunday at the cognizant classic. So, make sure everybody pull our boy Taylor more through today. He's played really well. He shot four under every day, 67, 67, 67, going to the final round. He's one back of Shane Lowry. Lowry got hot yesterday. I think he was eight under yesterday. And so got a one shot lead. Taylor, what I think because the way they do the, he's Taylor is in the next to last group. There are, I think two guys tied one guy's tied with Lowry at 13. I can't remember who it was. And then there's like two or three at 12, which is where Taylor is. Is this on TV today? Oh, yeah. He teased off at 12.45. So hearing about an hour. So he's probably getting ready. He's probably, he starts his routine about an hour ahead. So yeah, he'll be on TV today. We got to pull our boy through really big. I'm excited for him. He's a, the reason, as you know, because you know, probably we talked about it. The reason I love Taylor so much. He's kind of like a football player playing golf. He's a competitor. He loves the moment. He's ready for it.
I had a sneaky suspicion about Taylor this week. You know, I was talking to Taylor the other day and he had two weeks off before he came and played this one. And he hit me up. I came in for a Sunday or Monday. It was Monday because we had practiced. And he was, he had texted me. He asked me. He was out how the first day of practice went on what we were talking. And then he's like, hey, he's like, I found something in my irons these last two weeks. And he was feeling really good about it. He says, because you know, he's really good. He's one of the best players around the green and the PJ tour anyway. Taylor has been a reason he's in the position. He's in. He's leading the tournament around the green stats. He was like plus four points, something, a strokes game on the, around the green. And he had the fewest puts in the whole tournament. So when you put the ball well and you're ready around the green, short game, it's going to, it's going to help a ton of it. And then he's iron plays been better and he felt like he found something. So, you know, that's why he's playing with. He's playing really, really well right now. So a win for him would be huge today for his career.
It would be awesome. And we're pulling for him. And he's far enough. Yeah. So a win would give him an exemption for the next two years, get him in the master's the whole deal. And secure his status basically for a long time. So, but he's playing really well right now. So excited for him. I think he's going to have a really good year. Because when you find those irons and he's around the green game and way he drops it, he's he's he's kind of getting into getting into his prime. So it's fun to watch. He's thinking of a friends of the show, Taylor, obviously, a very good friend of the show, another very good friend of the show Justin steel. Was cleared medically late this week to let it go to ramp it up to start getting start getting ready to play. He's got to build up his pitch count, got to do that, you know, conservatively. He's in the tiktok chat over here. How about that? But literally I can make this up. You said the words Justin steel and he popped up.
He just said there's the best ad reader in the least of the Mississippi. He popped up with a tiktok chat. So big news for him, big news for the Cubs, but really big news for Justin that he gets to, I have no idea like what. Next time I pitch in the major leagues, Tyler, it'll it'll be my first opportunity. So I don't know how long once you you get cleared to, okay, the doctor's like, all right, you're free to let it go get going. I don't know how long that takes to build up to that. I would assume a few weeks. Yeah, he's been he's been he's been he's been pumping the whole pans. I imagine I'll bet you no injustice just a little bit. I'll bet you if they needed him to take the ball in game seven like tomorrow, he'd probably ready to go. But you know, I they'll they'll make sure he's ready to go for whatever that. Well, yeah, because they're a team that in all seriousness, they're they're projected to win the central.
That you know, they made the playoffs a year ago and and probably lost that brewer series because they ran out of pitching. Pitching just ran out of juice. They leaned on a handful of guys who were terrific for them last year, Matthew Boyd and. Because because Justin went out in April and then show to him and I go went out for a while came back and really wasn't himself. And then they lost Kate Horton to the freak thing where he like pulled a muscle sneezing or coughing, which happens as someone who had a coughing fit about two weeks ago and thought I was going to die. So you know, they Kate Horton who was I think he I don't think he won nationally rookie of the year. I think he finished second, but he had a really strong rookie year. You know, he he didn't pitch in the postseason. So they were a little thin at they were a little thin on pitching. So I'm sure the Cubs are most interested in having a healthy Justin steel pitching in October.
And if that means that maybe he doesn't he doesn't throw as many of his bullets and in April, I think that's probably a trade they'd be willing to make to get him ramped up properly. He he heard you know, he was I can hear you on TikTok because I got it set up where got set up. He said he said Justin said still similar timeline. Said no more doctor's visits. He goes to clarify no more doctor's business clarify. So he's he's he's. He goes out and he said he said October November is what matters most. They'll they'll they'll do it in a similar timeline, but I'm excited to see him get back man. That's going to be freaking awesome. Oh, same I'll be I'll be super pumped. That'd be awesome. Yeah, I can't wait. He's like so. He's like he's like he's like Justin's like automatic insert into the draft Kings fantasy line up when he's from the bomb. So oh, yeah, he said he said he appreciated the sport. He's he's on TikTok, but yeah, he's a.
Our boys are they're rocking a Roland excited excited to get them to go back and and can't wait to do that. They I'm going to try to go I was talking to AJ yesterday. We'll try because globe life is littered across the street. AJ and I on we got out here early a little bit yesterday. And we were going to we're trying to find something to eat and everything. We forgot it was Saturday night and like everybody shows up the restaurants on site. And so we end up going to Texas live again, which is across the right is literally it's butts up into globe life. And they're having a. We're they're having a the baseball the last weekend of those spring baseball tournaments, whatever. So I know Texas A&M. Ten of the Texas A&M Tennessee and Mississippi State are in this one. Yeah, UCLA's in that one. Not sure who else. Virginia Tech, I think. But so we went there. And so it's players day off. And so we're sitting there and we're in this pack.
And so we had just sat down and then Matt Carl. Michael ours or another quarterback and one of our tight ends they they also walked in to go eat. And so they came and sat on you know sat on our table because it's packed or whatever. And then and then so there was a ton of Tennessee fans and a ton of Mississippi State fans there. So I was like brother. This is probably not a popular table. When you got when you had AJ McCaring and Matt Carl sitting the same table, probably not a popular table. Probably not. Probably not. Probably not a table. But no way. No way say anything. It was good. Of course not. No one's going to say anything in person. Yeah. No. Well, Twitter. I'm sure somebody took some shots on X maybe. I'm sure that I'm sure that I'm sure that was not popular table there. Um, you you may right now find this interesting at all, but I thought I'd tell the fans of something that's kind of blows my mind a little bit. So I have never been.
But the indie car series is coming to Arlington to race. I guess I mean, it's is a street race here in Arlington all around where we're at. It's marked the weekend of March 13th. Well, as you can probably imagine, they all you can't just set all that stuff up. March 12th. And so every day that I start going home, I start seeing more and more things start going up. And I got to like, there's a back way that. I usually go to back home and to work. But they were had it closed working on the stuff, right? And so I had to go back the other way to go. There's a couple ways to go. You can you're just driving on the course. And you're talking about. You don't understand which way you're going like they got the they have like the concrete barriers and they already have the markings and the fences up. And so you're like, you're trying to drives to get to work and you're you're on the track.
And it's all around like everywhere around us. And then they're closing like they'll close. And it's not marked like on GPS or anything where you're trying to get around. So you're just literally it's like a it's like where's Waldo how to get home every day to try to get because they're setting up the race. They got stands up and everything else. This is insane, man. I mean like literally you'll take a right in your own on the course and like let's say you're you're supposed to drive down the main road right here. It's like a split. Okay, like the course will split. But you can't go this way because it will take you in the oncoming traffic. So you have to you have to anytime the course. Hey, that's not stopping a lot of truck drivers nationally. I mean, they're people are driving an oncoming traffic all the time. I mean, people are probably yelling at me and maybe they're used to it. I don't know. But people are like yelling me because I mean the course starts doing this, but I'm just trying to get I'm trying to go home. And the course will split or do something and I'm like, I'm like, what do I do with my hands? I kind of had to pause because it's telling me to it's telling me to go straight, right?
The GPS is telling me to go straight, but there's a concrete wall in my way. So I have to I have to go this way and but I'm not on the street. If you ever watch the episode of the office when Michael Scott and Dwight are out there out on a sales call. And Michael's trying to he's talking about too much dependency on technology. And he's got his he's got his GPS thing going on this on the car and telling him where to turn. And he turns and drops the car right into a lake. All right, this is going bother you. It bothers my son. I have never seen an episode of the office. Oh my gosh, really? Yes. You know the else I've never seen an episode of the older generation that really bothers people. I've never watched an episode of Seinfeld. Oh, wow. I have. Have you ever watched? So I live in a split household on this topic. There are some of us who find those kinds of shows to be the greatest shows.
And there are others who find them to be so silly that they're unwatchable. No, I just never. I just never. I don't know. I felt like with Seinfeld like I just never got. I never started it. So I felt like I was behind. And so I just never started it. The office now my son brought my middle son. He actually he's an office like. To the point to where he bought every episode on Amazon one time like every episode we had it was purchased. And he when he has free time to watch TV instead of watching TV. He he just watches the office and order. And then starts it over and just watches it. He's watched the whole series. I mean, he's got it like we're older officers on that. Yeah, I've probably seen the whole thing. Four times. Yeah, it's it's bizarre. But I mean, I'm sure it's a great show. I mean, I hear it's funny, but I was never watched it.
All right. Before we before you tell me about all your friends and tell me about the fresh Rocky Mountain water. Yeah. Did you see I'm sure you did. I got a proposal for our show. Can the new match burning phase of our show be about court cases now? Sure. You know, I mean, I feel like we've moved on from NIL and revshare to court cases. Like court cases are this year's match burning. So that's a proposal for the show. I'm going to try to be done before you burn your finger off. I did. I did not surprise, but I think it was important. That the Charles Bidiaco, the Alabama basketball player was denied by the Alabama Supreme Court.
To be eligible while he was under appeal. He was seeking an immediate injunction while the appeal was going through and the Alabama Supreme Court denoted. So I think that is probably going to be. It's not a local court, you know, it's the Supreme Court, Alabama State Supreme Court. It's going to be available for from an eligibility standpoint. And obviously every eligibility case is completely different. I think that's important to know one, but two is I think that's a big step for. These the pro players coming back true pro players coming back to play try to play college athletics. I think that was a big step, not just a local court, but a state Supreme Court. Um, what did you say? I'm laughing at something on my message board. I apologize. Matt Zinitz is reporting that Ole Miss is hiring.
Linear Goathe former Ole Miss linebacker. I think he has some NFL. Front office experience, which I'm assuming this is an assumption means scouting experience. Also has apparently worked at Duke. I was not aware of this. Ole Miss is defensive coordinator who had been in Oxford for about a month. Patrick Tony was hired away by the Atlanta Falcons on. Friday, I think. He will be the defensive pass game coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. That's a that's too good of an opportunity to pass up, you know, so. I mean, I get it. I get it. I mean, the. I mean, like I said the other day, I thirdly enjoy. I understand it. I get it. But I imagine it was a nice, a nice package to get him. To it because I'm sure he wasn't.
He was probably making a had a pretty good contract. There was. Yeah, I mean, I think this is that deal. And you almost have to be careful how you say this because a lot of people don't understand it, don't like it. But right now, you tell me if I'm wrong, you're much more connected to a lot of coaches than I am. I think if I asked a hundred college coaches, hey, you can coach in college or you can coach in the NFL. I might opinion right now is that. The NFL would win would would probably win in a landslide and might win as much as 90%. Yeah, I would have. And this is where I'm now just being completely transparent here. When if you would ask me that question. A month, two months ago, I'd have been probably like, yeah, probably 80%. You know, 85%. After going through it like on the field for six days.
100% I mean, yeah, I it's more. It's kind of what I was saying earlier as a coach, right? When you are it's it's the it's not just the non recruiting part. Obviously, that is a big like that was the only thing I really thought about. Before six days ago, the only thing I really thought about if you'd asked me that question was, hey, no recruiting and then. No recruiting and. You know, being able to hold your players accountable like. Yeah, and now recruiting is even more than recruiting used to be because now you as a coach at the college level, you you have to probably at least dial down the way you like to coach. And you are asked pretty much every day. To break rules that and a lot of people just don't like doing that. They're not comfortable with it like the whole tampering thing. You know, your guys are getting tampered with.
Your guys are coming to you with, hey coach, look what, you know, they. And then. You can't really say a whole lot because you're either doing it or you've got someone doing it for you. You're you're aware of what they call pre portaling, which is just. It's just hey. Hypothetically in a world where. You know, we had an opening. And we had. I mean, I mean, hypothetically just spitballing $300,000. Hypothetically. How interested might you be. Yeah, it's. Like to me, the the difference, like besides all that, right? That would be the only thing I really thought about before. Six days ago and. Just going through it from just a week, it's the.
It's not a, it's like when you holding players accountable, it's not about. Like in college, holding players accountable is, hey, you know, go to class. Hey, you got to make sure you're here on time. Hey, know your place. Hey, this and like the know your place part is like, there's nothing like. When you when you have a team meeting having to get there, you know. Hey, you sitting there telling players, make sure you're here five minutes earlier, whatever. And like having to make sure all your players are there before the head coach walks in. All I mean, it's just so much stuff, right? You don't have that here. It's the meetings at, you know, team meetings at eight o'clock every morning. Every freaking player is in the building at seven. And they're getting treatment or whatever it is. They're in their, they're in their chair at 750. If they're not on time, they get fined. You know, there's no missing practice. There's no missing meetings.
Late for meetings or there's no late for this. They're here. They're here. And it's just like, OK, cool. And then when you get in the meeting room, and you, and, and, or you, and you start talking about. Hey, we're. Examples, you know, run it working a screen the other day, right? Instead of having to take. Five minutes of endowed to talk about technique and how I need you to work. They friend that screen 87,000 times in her life. All you got to do is tell them what the freaking play is. They know all the techniques. You know, and so you don't issue. So you now, instead of wasting your time on. On things that you would have to waste your time on coaching college kids, you can go. And now you can do more advanced things down the road. And it just accelerates everything so fast. To where you can just do whatever you want to do. And no matter how. You know, complicated does the wording is. And the scheme is they've done it 65 million times in her life. You know, it's like, you know, you just, they're, it's, it's enjoyable.
Because you can now. Pretty much anything you can think of. You can get really creative. And it's anything you can think of you can do. So that part's just more enjoyable. Neil. Do you know what? Do you know what I enjoyed last night with. My commento cheese. Oh, I can only imagine. I mean, I know what a smart person would enjoy with the commento cheese patty milk. I'm going to get, I'm going to give you a hint. Okay. It came. It came in a 32 ounce glass. With a nice little pole ever on it. You know what it was? Oh, I mean, you're describing heaven, which would mean it was the cold coars. I mean, you can't beat that. I mean, you just, I don't know that it's possible to beat a cold coars. You've got. Same recipe since 1873. 18. At least.
Yeah. Well, that's when they founded it. It's when they started it. I bet they were using that rocket mountain cold water decades before. Oh, yeah. I mean, it was like the big explorer that crossed the. It was like Vasco de Gama or Ferdinand Magellan or. I mean. I mean, they were. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they were using that rocket mountain cold water decades before. Oh, yeah. I mean, it was like the big explorer that crossed the. I mean, they were. You know, the rumor is Columbus was looking for spices and whatnot. It's not what I've heard. It's not what I've heard. I've heard. I've heard he was looking for Rocky Mountain water because he knew that. If he mixed that with just the right recipe of barley and hops that he would produce a cold coars. He died trying. Let me tell you what I heard. Yeah. I heard they had their staff meetings. On the Santa Maria.
Yep. I heard that they. I heard it in the staff meetings. That they passed around. Coolers banquet. I'm just saying. You're kidding. That's incredible. That is. I saw that. I saw that on rumble. Wow. Well, it's crafted with 100% Rocky Mountain water. So I mean, and I think these people knew it. On the Santa Maria. It was at the Santa Maria, the Penta and the. The pilgrims came over. I'm sorry. The pilgrims came over on the Mayflower. And when they landed. When they landed in Plymouth, they're like, where's the goers? I know that for a fact. Yes. The Mayflower was what I was looking for there. When John Smith walked up to Pocahontas. She. She was like, what do you want? She thought he was going to say something crazy. And he said, a cold coerced.
That's a fact. That happened. Do you know that when the British surrendered at your down. They said, we just want to get out of here and go get a coerced. That's what happened. So keep that in mind. All of those things are true. And so when you enjoy a banquet, you're drinking history. Do you know this episode is sponsored by BetterHelp? Yeah, my life advice will be if our tour of quarterbacks. For them, if they would like. So they won't leave my children, my three children without a father. Yeah. If they if they don't mind, not missing the win route. Any more versus middle field open coverage that would make they would that that would have. You know, allow my children to grow up with a father because. I had a moment yesterday for about the third time in a row. That we missed we missed the rent win route versus middle field open. So I was not. You know, that was my that was my one. My one. Catastrophic moment yesterday for practice. There you go. That's good. All right. I don't know if you saw this or not. I just the.
So President Trump is holding a hosting a round table on issues facing college sports. This is part on three. This is not my breaking news. The invitees include Nick Sabin. Tiger Woods. Tim Tebow. And Cody Campbell from this. Who is the Texas Tech booster. That's got the whole proposal about seven college sports. That's a great. Although I so I got I guess a positive and a negative here. I think any any discussion had at the government level is positive. About whatever they're deciding to do to try to, you know, at least you know, or you say, hey, it's been recognized and maybe, you know, got to try to fix it. Do I think anything's coming out of it? No. But here's where I have, I've always had a problem with stuff like this. It's like I Nick Sabin being there makes sense.
Nick Sabin being part of that. Even even Cody Campbell with his proposal of saving college sports has real ideas, right? And solutions. What in the hell does Tiger Woods or Tim Tebow. No or give a shit about what's going on in college sports? Well, they'll be cool. They'll be cool people in the cool people in the photo. I mean that, that come on. Like this is silly. I mean, it's fine. Whatever. I don't care. They have lots of committees and round tables and all sorts of stuff in Washington. And that's just part of it. But you know, I mean, though, it's like that. That kind of if you just said the list included Nick Sabin and Cody Campbell. I'm like, okay, we're getting serious here. You know, it's, it's real stuff. But, you know, but and as much I'm a tiger guy. I like Tim Tebow and they're great dudes. And, you know, but like if so that's kind of it makes me that makes it give the ceremonious vibe.
We're just entertaining you kind of deal. But if they really want to fix this thing. Yes, Nick Sabin needs to be there. Cody Campbell needs to be there. He's got great ideas. But I think you need people in the weeds, man. People that are doing this every day that may not be. Household names for people Walker Jones needs to be there. You know, from Ole Miss Walker Jones needs to be there. You need people that you need GM's sitting GM's that go through this every single day of their life. And they can tell you all the horror stories and where the problems are. If they want to fix this thing, you need sitting head coaches that are what you need people like Kirby. Hell like Lane, you need people that have been through it. From different avenues, you need G5 head coaches that get their players taken every year. You need junior college head coaches that get their players taken in August. You need guys from all aspects of understanding.
You need women's coaches. You need ADs that have had to cut women's sports. You need to go and you need to have people to end it. Look, it may not be the greatest photo op. It may not be like, you know, who's coming to Washington? It may be the women's, you know, Sean Tuay, who's now at ULM. You know, you may need to get ADs and people around that. That may not be like famous to other people. I know Sean Tuay is a little bit different because they had the movie. But whatever you get my point, it's like you've got to get people that are actually in the weeds with the issues to fix the issues. Tyler, I've said this before. I'm going to say it again. This is not me being cynical or skeptical. I mean, this is me keeping it very real. I'm not convinced college athletics are broken as much as other people are because the numbers don't support that stance. But if you believe they're broken, Washington is not fixing them. The fix is not coming in the nation's capital.
It's not you can go to, I don't care how often you lobby Congress. I don't care how many meetings you have with the president of the United States. Even if those meetings are well-intentioned. If there is a need for a fix, and again, I found that debatable. Sometimes I think things just naturally occur, you know. But if you believe that there needs to be a fix, it is not happening in Washington, DC. And that's not a political comment. It's just not. If you think there needs to be a fix, the only people that are going to quote fix in quote college sports are people in college sports. Yeah, I think from a, I don't think what's the rest of what I put this, I agree. I would say 85% with you on that. I agree that the fix is not going to, Washington is not going to fix college sports. My opinion, I agree with you there.
The one thing in order for it to be fixed, the one thing they do need from Washington, the one thing is antitrust. And then they can fix it. You know, that's, that's the only thing that regardless, because I've said this, you said this, I've said this, we burn 800 matches on this. You've burnt, you've got fingers melted down, you have no fingerprints on your. Oh, how about that? What's that? My live, my TikTok live got ended. I thought I've done said something wrong, but it actually got ended for inactivity, which means that I didn't engage with the, I don't know how to do that. But whatever, cool, I'll start back up when I get done. Thought you got, thought you got censored there. Well, I did too, when we start talking about Washington, I was like, eh, but the, the one thing that, that was interesting to me is, is that,
I don't know. The antitrust has to happen to allow the, again, the NCAA restructuring or break off or whatever, the, the fix has got to be done internally. I'm with you there. Antitrust is going to have to have to be had because if we don't, if there's no collective, there's no fixing quote unquote fixing to make it. And I don't think it needs to be fit. I think the interest levels there and all that stuff, right? The fixing for me is not about saying all the systems broken. It's about the long term sustainability of the current model we're on. And I'm not talking about sustainability from fan interest. I'm not talking about sustainability from money or TV or anything like that. Minds more from a financial stability of the universities and those to continue what we're doing. That's the part that needs to be fixed. The fan interest and all that stuff. Dude, that's the TV. It's, it's at all time. High all that stuff. Yeah. But to make it sustainable for the actual to do continue what we're doing here.
It's going to have to be, you know, there's going to have to be antitrust and collective bargaining, but anyway. As we wrap it up here. The NFL combine wraps up today. Yeah. Very interesting process. A couple things here. One of our quarterback that is funny. The social media like on the UFL side. And because now that I'm here, I owe my four-year page. I get all this UFL stuff pops up, even if I don't follow them or whatever. Uh, so, uh, Taylor Goldersmo is one of our quarterbacks. And he was. Uh, first round pick in the CFL. He played college in Canada. His first is pretty cool. His first exposure. His first exposure to a 11 man football was with the Green Bay Packers. Actually, his senior. He went to Senior Bowl. But his first real, you know, system and 11 man football was with the Packers last year. And now he's getting, obviously, get more of it here. He went through. Uh, he left on our walkthrough day and got back last night.
But he, uh, he went through for the combine. Uh, for, you know, they bring in a free agent every year. They brought him in the throw. He's back. I got back this morning early. I talked to him, but he, uh, he was there. Um, but it's kind of interesting talking to him though. It's fun, you know, because he, they have 12 men on the field and, and Canada. And so his whole life when it came to protections and coverages. A 12 guy makes a difference, right? So. And then, and then getting him to understand like, like little things. This is probably pretty neat. Is he like the motions and stuff? I'm like, hey, you need to let this guy get, you know, if we're doing some kind of motion or whatever, hey, you need to let this guy get square in his motion. Because he didn't click on him that he's in Canada. You can go down, down hill, all motions. You know, hey, we sent him a motion. They didn't matter. Snap it. You know, hey, we got to let this guy get square. So it's not illegal procedure. He's like, oh, yeah, yeah. And so. So little things like that with the Canada rules. It's pretty cool.
And then talking about like when we start to my red zone, right? And you're talking about red zone concepts. What we're trying to do. Well, in Canada, the in zones are 20 yards deep. And so it's a different concept. Because Helen Canada, you can run your down open, you know, you can run your normal offense from a freaking five yard line, right? So because you're never technically in the actual red zone because the red zones are. The end zones are 20 yards deep. So that stuff's fun. But anyway, Brendan Thompson. Widers here from Mississippi State ran the fastest 40. 426, okay, 426 on the 40 followed by. Lorenzo styles from Ohio State was at 427 and Xavier on Thomas. Widers here from LSU 428. And I think we see those. And as we're getting into the season, I don't think people really realize how fast that is. You know, I don't know somewhere in the in the realm of recruiting like 444.
He's a coach. This guy's a 444. I'm like guys. When you, when people don't realize, as I've said this before here a long time ago, but when you see somebody a coach or somebody reporting. What a 40 time is. If it's a handheld time, which 99.9% of any high school kids are. Unless they go to a camp or a laser time, you're about 0.24 to 0.27 off the actual time. The difference between a hand time and a laser time is about 0.24 to 0.27 seconds. So what I'm trying to tell you is if. Brendan Thompson went and ran this 40 at a local high school for a high school staff. They would have said he ran for flat. That's how fast he is. You know what I mean? It's crazy. Like a Mario Cooper. I remember Mario Cooper. When we, we, I don't remember what he ran to come by. But I remember him and like a. Him running like a.
453 or 451 or something at. We timed him in Alabama or something. Scott Cochran did or something. And everybody's like, oh man. Cooper's on about 45 guys. I'm just like guys. Y'all ever seen him get caught? Y'all ever see his speed be a problem on the field, right? Like I don't, I don't have an idea what he ran to come by. But it's crazy. And then. You know, one little thing. Because what people don't realize is when you, and you've been there. Like when you go to the pro days. Okay. You go to the pro days and these guys turn these ridiculous times. Like, oh, he ran this at pro day. A lot of those are ham time, right? Of course. And so it's always going to be faster at pro days. So that's why you see when fans want to know why guys don't run at the combines. But they run it pro day. It gives people the illusion of how fast they are. You know, they they can basically make their the. The perception of how fast they are faster at a. Pro date and they can add a. Combine unless they do it, you know, and some do something,
but some don't do electrical timing. So pretty interesting on that. As we close now. I do want to say, obviously, thoughts and prayers. Because as you know, this show, McCredy and Sisky show. We support our troops or first responders on that deal. But thoughts and prayers are with our troops. Yes. Our country as they put their lives on the line. Starting I guess yesterday or in the middle of the night yesterday. With what's going on at Iran. It's a good thing that we're not on tiktok right now. Because I'm pretty sure that we'd be having like red flags popping. But. Isn't that crazy, Bill? Isn't that crazy? Yeah. Yeah. Really. I don't know. I don't understand it. I can't get my head around it. But thoughts and prayers with our service members and those. They're putting their lives on the line every single day. It's much appreciated. And so on purpose, not only did I wear my ping today. For my guy Taylor Moore also got my hashtag American flag being going. So we're going.
We're going double support today. For the guys. And ladies that are that are putting their life on line. And then every single day, I don't know how long it's going to last. I don't know what it is. But anytime it's. It's real things flying. There's always people in danger. Oh, I mean, very much. And you think about those people and. All of the training and all the things that they've done. And then you think about their families back home who. Are left to do really nothing but hope and pray. You know, and. Yeah, it's a. It was a fascinating. It was to wake up to that on Saturday morning was sobering. You know, I was up late Friday night. I'm here by myself this weekend. I was up late Friday night and. Got to bed late and got up fairly early because the dogs woke me up. And turned on the TV.
And there it was. And it was. Whoa. You know, I. I mean, I. Certainly read some commentary out there and some of the things that I read that. That conflict appeared to be imminent and that there were signs of. You know, you can't just move all those carriers without people noticing. That the care that the carriers are moving. And. You can see that some things were being staged, but still. When it actually goes down, you. It's it's sobering is that I think it's the word and. And then I'm always fascinated with the way that my field covers. World events. There's the agendas are just insane. And it for me personally, it always. You know, anytime anything like this happens, or you know, a lot of this. It puts things in perspective for me. And that's the thing is like, you know, it's like.
I don't know how I. This may be how you feel. I don't know. I always find it. And I can't. It's probably why I'm not. I'm not on the. We're not doing the show live on the ESPN right now, right? But for me. I just. And I've reached the stage in my life. And I think you have as well where my give a shit meter is really low. It's about what almost broken. Yeah, almost broken. My give a shit is really low. What people think of me. That's why when the when the beta brigade comes after me, I don't give a shit. Say what you want to say. I don't care. It doesn't bother me. And so. But I think it's kind of when you ignore it. I don't know how you ignore not. I don't know how you like a. I don't know. When you purposely ignore it. I mean, you. Hey, let's talk about the. Let's talk about the three. Hey, let's talk about three, four simulated pressures today. Or let's talk about. How many was the wind most total going to be for the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2026 football season?
Yeah. Like I don't know. I just don't know how people ignore it. I don't know if they're scared to push back. They're scared of. The where we've come as a society and in like a few short few decades. Yeah. People go much blowback. And there's so much division among the shout out to my guy Tony Mandarin. She put out of he had a clip the other day of his live. I saw it with those awesomeness. I don't know where. I don't know where I think it's definitely deserved to be studied where. We got so divisive. In our sense it used to not be like that. And I say I make makes makes you sound like you're 79 years old when you're saying I'm back of my day. But in my I'm 48 and. Well, I think it occurred in our lifetimes. And so therefore it's it's you know it's it's I had someone asked me on Friday. How much has your field changed since you got into it?
So it's been 30 years, right? I said pro. I mean more than 30 years at this point. I'm 56. I said it's incalculable. It's not even it doesn't it doesn't even look the same. It doesn't feel the same. It's it's nowhere close to. No where close to the same. And you know and and and and anyone. I'm always find it interesting that anyone in my field who. A spouse is a certain type of political belief gets labeled a grifter. And it can't be it can't be won't maybe maybe their views evolved. Due to life, maybe their views evolved in a certain direction. And maybe this is maybe they're not grifting. Maybe it's genuinely how they feel and their courageous enough to express it. I don't know, right? I mean, I'm not in their heart. I don't I don't know. But it's always fascinating to me that it goes that way. So I saw this video the other day.
And this kind of summed up, I guess what I'm trying to say is. So Bill Clinton was president from 92 to basically 2000, right? 92 or whatever. Yeah, he was he was president until January the 20th of 2001. When when George W Bush was inaugurated. So I saw a video of Bill Clinton doing state of the union. And then it was paired with Donald Trump state of the union from the other day. And they literally both were saying the exact same thing about enforcing immigration law. And they were saying the same thing, right? And obviously Bill Clinton being a Democrat Donald Trump in a Republican. So this was I don't know what part which state of the union it was. It was just a video assault. And Bill Clinton saying the same thing. And when he says it, the entire Congress stands up. I mean, both sides of the aisle standing up, you know, cheering both sides of the aisle. Yeah, standing up here.
And then Donald Trump saying it in his state of the union the other day. And you got one side of the aisle standing up. You got another side aisle completely not moving. And then some of the Congress members yelling back at Trump like in the middle of his speech. And then I see the, I don't know y'all will have you after you may know who it is. But the one guy that that's like in in the chamber. And he's one of that was holding up the sign and they had a removing. And in fairness and in fairness during Biden's administration, there were a handful of Republicans that heckled him in the in the state of the union. And it's to your point. This disrespect for the office. Remember that happening when I was younger, no matter who was president, whether it was a Democrat or a Republican. I just don't remember that happening. I don't remember. And maybe I was too young to remember it, right? But I don't remember. I don't remember Carter or Reagan being heckled.
That's my, you're 100% correct. Even when Biden was in office, right? It's the other way around. I don't know where the blatant disrespect for the position of president. Like that was never. Like I just way I was raised. It didn't matter. Yeah. What you're. Side of the aisle you're on. Once he's the president, he's the freaking president of the United States, right? And and and there's disrespect for the office. And it makes. I don't know. It just. I think. I don't know if if that is caused by the division in our country. Or is that a byproduct of creating. Division or a country when you see leader. I don't know, but it's just I don't as it's bizarre to me. And that bothers me. But anyway. Neil.
