Lindsay Clancy Trial: Was It Psychosis or Methodical Planning? With Special Guest Lawyer Lee

About this episode

Two psychiatrists reviewed much of the same evidence and gave the Lindsay Clancy jury completely different answers. The defense says Clancy was psychotic and acting under the control of a commanding voice. The Commonwealth says she was severely depressed, methodically carried out a plan and understood that killing her children was wrong.

Former prosecutor and criminal defense attorney Joshua Ritter is joined by trial attorney and legal commentator Lawyer Lee to test those competing opinions, explain Massachusetts’ criminal-responsibility standard and identify the evidence most likely to decide the verdict as the Commonwealth completes its rebuttal.

Plus, Josh examines the new-trial fight involving Karmelo Anthony, the death-penalty arguments in the Tyler Robinson case, Laken Snelling’s guilty plea and this week’s Hero of the Week.

UPDATE: After this livestream, the judge denied Karmelo Anthony’s request for a new trial. Our discussion at 42:55 was recorded before the ruling.
