But you get this every week throughout football season because they always deliver. There's always some tension. There's always some plays that have to be talked about. There's always a lot of sensitivity from football coaches. Especially college coaches. More than any other sport baseball coaches are like, yeah, man, look, we lost today. We're playing in tomorrow. We got a hundred and forty more. Yeah. I know what you want. You can't get too higher, too low. Somebody's like football though. It gets tense and it gets tense fast. I would say Tony the Roos. So like, I'm going to mess that up all week if you guys asked me.

3:05But today is just our first day of the game plan, which is a Wednesday. We'll put in some on a Thursday. Friday is the final part of the game plan. Saturday we walked in when we play on Sunday, which is a Friday in Australia on a Thursday and on the US. So don't ever make me do that again. Call it. It's Friday. I'm in love. That's exactly what he's like Monday can break my heart Tuesday Wednesday, fall apart Thursday, don't even start to Friday. I'm in love here. Yeah. But, you know, the news that Aaron Donald won't make that trip. But also when the Rams submitted their injury report just right before getting on their flight, a Miles Garrett, he did not practice with what they say is a knee injury. So I don't know, you know, the extent of that there were some players, veteran players who were resting. But, you know, obviously the pretty nighter spent the week, you know, a couple days anyway. With the assumption that Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett were going to be playing. And, you know, maybe they didn't really think that Donald would play. I don't know, but I think that they went ahead and prepared as if he would because it would be better to be surprised for them in a good way than to be surprised in a bad way.

26:43So the Donald has been a lot of the conversation here, but kind of interesting that he signs that deal and what he's doing. And all the signs are pointing to George Kittle playing in this game. Is it fair to say if he made the trip, you got to assume he's going to play in this game. Otherwise, why would he fly all the way out there? I think so. Yeah. I mean, that's he said as much. And you know, both said told me that for him, you know, right before they got on the plane. I, you know, I was like, are you playing? And he told me goes, I wouldn't be flying out there. Or he said, I'm flying out there. I'm effing the plane. He fully expects to play. I think it'll expect to play the question is. And this will be a question for for a Kalashian and I don't know how in depth he'll answer it. But you know, is it just business as usual for those guys? Or will they kind of have a pitch count? Or is it more about the conditioning? So, you know, those are the things that will all play out Friday morning here Thursday.

27:45Evening back home. Talking about me, I'll go from Melbourne Australia as an Irish get ready to take on the Rams and week one on Thursday evening 5 30 local time right here on these sports leaders. I guess a question for both of those guys, Boasa and George Kiddell, what's more important for Thursday? How many snaps they take or what they look like in the snaps they do play? Oh, the, I'd say the latter. Yeah. I mean, it's, you know, it's, you need those guys playing. Those guys playing. Really good football. Really good football for the 49ers to not necessarily let's just kind of gloss over this game. But for the full season, I mean, after this game, they're going to have 16 games remaining. And they need those guys playing at a high level. So, you know, they, they have to be able to balance what is right in order to win this game. And what is right for the team over the long haul. And I do think that those will probably match up because I, you know, I don't know how sharp Nick Boasa will be.

28:47You know, he's wearing that brace or a sleeve. A little bit, it looks like a little bit more involved than just a sleeve on his left knee. You know, with Kiddell, I mean, this is just a remarkable return that he's made. He had that surgery January 15th and a killing surgery. So they really do have to keep an eye on, yes, absolutely. They want to win this game against the Rams. It is a big game week one. It's going to have ramifications throughout this season. But they got to also keep the bigger picture in mind, which is making sure that they don't do anything that puts either one of those guys in a bad situation where maybe they would increase the risk of something bad happening down the road. Talk about me, Oko on the Uma Guest line. And yes, I mean, this matchup is always fantastic between these two head coaches, the familiarity with one another. How big of a factor do you see Raheem Morris in this matchup with his familiarity with the Rams defense for quite some time? I think it's going to be key.

29:48No doubt about it. I do think that the 49ers are going to be doing some different things defensively. I think they started to do a little bit more last year with Robert Salab just because they had to. They don't have, when the 49ers were rolling and they were really good team, they had guys that they could roll out that could go win one on one matchups with their defensive line. So they really didn't have to do a whole lot of things defensively. It could just be like, here's our four man rush. I think it's like good coverage on the back end and just let just make sure that they don't give the opposing offense any easy situations to move the ball down the field and get big plays. I think this year, when you look at the, you know, maybe some guys will develop, you know, maybe Ramell Hite will step up and be a really good ad rusher. I think the one guy that the team can count on is Nick Bosa and we all know his injury situation coming off of that.

30:51So how effective is he going to be? I think Jose Diggie Zua is really good player. No doubt about it. It's a defensive tackle, but my point is that I think that Rahim Morris is going to have to do a lot more different things. You know, they're going to have to mix it up. They're going to have to show a five man front. You don't know who's dropping. Who's getting after the quarterback. You know, they're going to have to send, you know, corner blitz and linebackers blitzing. So they're going to have to kind of manufacture pressure on the quarterback more than they would like. I'm sure. And it's really difficult week one because Matthew Stafford is probably the best in the league as far as just getting rid of the football and frustrating a pass rush with his ability to just make those quick decisions. And that quick release he has to get the ball out before the pass rush can get there. I guess met to that end, like we've been talking so much about well, if it's not both so where does the pass rush come from? But we saw that for all the last season to attune of just the 26. Who's the defensive player? There's a chance that we could be talking about a month from now going, wow, he's he's made strides.

31:55Well, he's in a Diggie Zua. Is it simply the depth on the interior D line? Like where could we find in a month that there's somebody maybe more effective than we expected? It might be a Diggie Zua. Yeah, it very well might be him. I would be I think I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a career best. Yeah, sack season. You know, before the four day hours left for for Melbourne, I probably would have told you Samo, Koano. You know, to have somebody on the opposite, you know, on the other edge. Where Bosa just by name recognition is going to attract a lot of attention. But, you know, maybe, maybe Keon White can get after it a little bit. You know, Michael Williams is a little bit on the back burner. He's out for the first four games of the season. But I'm not sure that I think Michael White or Michael Williams. I'm sorry. Is there can't be a really good player. I'm just not sure he's ever going to be like a super effective edge rusher.

32:55You know, I think he's more of a runs kind of a basin. Yeah, kind of a set the edge. Yeah, kind of a, you know, a big defensive end set the edge and move inside and rush the passer. But I'm not sure. You know, I would look at him and go, oh, he's going to get up there and double digit sacks. And that's frankly, you know, you'll rebel a height is an unknown rookie. You never know what to expect from rookies. But I think they need him to be an effective pass rusher. I mean, you know, 10 12 sacks. But, you know, the closer he can get to that double digit sack number, the better the 49ers offense or the 49ers as a team will be talking about me. Oko on the Uma Guest line. Matt, what would you consider a successful season for the 49ers? Well, I mean, as we sit here a couple days before the first game in the season, I just think, you know, it all will play it. You'd ask me last year, what a successful season for the 49ers would have been.

33:58You know, it might have looked a little bit different than how it played out. It's because of all the, the complications they had throughout the season. So last year in a rush, respect. I don't see how anybody couldn't say that, you know, winning 12 games, winning a playoff game. I'll be getting blown out on the road against the sea ox. I don't know how anybody could say that that wasn't a successful season. So a lot of it kind of has to go with how the season unfolds. But I would say any team that has Brock Birdie, Christian McCaffrey, Kyle Hughes, check George Kittle, the wide receivers they have. Trent Williams, Nick Bose, you know where I'm going with this. Any team that has those kinds of players. I mean, they should have settled for anything other than holding up the Lamarity at the end of the season. That's the problem for them. The problem for them is there are two other teams in the division who feel the exact same way.

34:59I'm with ex we were kind of having this debate earlier and I said when you ask like I think, and I totally agree with you because I said I look at last season and say that's a successful season. I said to Derek, if they had a year this year like like 2021 where they go 10 and seven, but reach the NFC championship and lose, how could you find that a failure if you get to within a game of the Super Bowl? I don't think that every team that doesn't win the Super Bowl as a failure. I also think it's fair to ask is this still a Super Bowl or bust type team. Yeah, I mean, I think when you're at the position where the 49ers are, I think it's fair to say that it's it might not get much better than this year until like this new group of 40 thatters players. I mean, if this particular core group, I mean, let's face it, those those names, many of the names that I just mentioned, they're guys, you know, who have been around a while, you know, and there's a couple guys going to be going on the 10 year wall after this season.

36:02So I think the expectation is that this for this core group from this point forward, each year, I find it unlikely that this will be a better team next year than this year, unless those young guys really step up, but as far as that core group that I just mentioned, all those high priced veteran players. I mean, playing the sport takes a toll on you. So I think that they probably have the same kind of feeling that that I do heading into this, which is now's the time. And yeah, they can go deep into the playoffs and all that, but there also has to be a sense of kind of frustration that they haven't been able to push it all the way over the goal line, you know, in a long, long time. A couple more minutes with Matt Meoco on the Uma Guest line. The Rams have been hyped up like, I don't know, I never seen before as far as a team going into the regular season, maybe since the 2007 Patriots, but there's few teams that have had so much hype and lived up to expectations, being heavy Super Bowl favorites.

37:06And I think about the 1994 49ers where they made huge changes in the off season, getting Deon Sanders, a Ken Nord and a Gary Plummer, and they lived up to expectations, winning the Super Bowl. Of course, they were, you know, trying to compete with the Dallas Cowboys. It's kind of slimming with the Rams of the Seahawks. What do you remember about the hype going into the 1994 season for them for the 49ers? Yeah, I mean, that was definitely a situation where, you know, they had lost to the Cowboys deep in the postseason, the SC championship game for a couple of years. And, you know, everybody around these parts, I mean, it's different times now, but the impatience during that era, with Eddie Debarlo and Carmen Policy and George Seaford, they, they geared up to win it all. And, you know, it wasn't, you know, a deep playoff run, losing in the NFC championship game was simply not acceptable. And, and you know, it was right at the beginning, I guess, of the salary cap or maybe it come in, it was right around that time. It was still the salary cap hadn't taken effect so they could go out and get a bunch of guys. And that's what they did.

38:16And I know there's the famous story of, you know, they, they lost someone decisively at, you know, Texas stadium. And on the elevator ride down to the locker room, you know, Eddie Debarlo and Carmen Policy kind of looked at each other and said, never again, we, we can't have that happen next year. And so they did go out and they got, you know, all those guys to bolster their defense, you'll bring in Ken, Northern Jr. and Gary Plummer, then of course, Deont Sanders. I mean, it was a super bowler bus kind of year and it doesn't always work out that way. But it certainly did that season with that with a dominant dominant team. But, you know, I, I also recall, gosh, what year was it was a 2011. No, it wasn't. No, it was earlier than that. What year was it where the, the, the Philadelphia Eagles together, their quote unquote, was that the dream team, the quote unquote dream team. Yeah. And that didn't turn out well. So it's just really difficult. When you load up and in your brain, in high price guys, you know, there's a volatility to that where if you have to dip into your depth, like, you know, I've heard people, you know, insiders to me, say, boy, the Rams depth isn't very good.

39:31Well, their, their starters are darn good. But if maybe they, they wouldn't be in a position to, to keep that train moving along, if some of those guys, you know, get injured. I mean, it would have been the same thing last year with the Fred Irish, you, I could not have fathomed that Brock, you missed as many games as he did pretty much half a season. Yeah, George Kittle, even before the kill is he missed a handful of games, yet both out for the year, Warner out for the year. How in the heck was that team able to keep it together with a team that generally speaking, nobody thought had any depth at all. And yet, you know, guys like Tatum of food and D winners and Jake Tonshous and, and Mac Jones. I mean, those guys stepped up. And, and really, there wasn't. Obviously, there's a significant drop off, but it wasn't what you would have thought it would have been and how they won those games was remarkable. So, yeah, with the Rams, it doesn't appear as if they have much depth. But I guess we won't know until that depth is called upon.

40:37But last question for you, Matt, me and Cops were having this debate and I'm a student of the Simpsons and I always thought that toilets flush a different way than the US counterclockwise or clockwise. So if you're comfortable, I told him no, that's not a thing. Yeah, I think it's a thing. And we can ask you if you could defer this or deny this, but I also ask if you're comfortable. Can we see your toilet? No, I'm not comfortable doing that. Yeah, yeah, I'm going to take it in with them. No. But I've already done this experiment. You know, I, I, at home, before I left, I flushed. And then I realized, and I didn't realize it until I wanted to see and I was going to video the toilet flushing. It's one of those just straight down types of toys where the water comes gushing out. And so it's not the circular, the velodrome.

41:38I like to be a cycling, you know, thing. And then in my, in my hotel here, same type of toilet. So I'm very, very disappointed that I wasn't able to do that experiment and Derek, I don't know if you should be alarmed or if I should be alarmed. But we were both thinking the same way. And it was an experiment I wanted to do, but I couldn't pull off because of the plumbing. Well, great minds, man. Well, yeah, I told Derek and the listeners, when I went for the first time to Sydney in 2018, Mike Holer asked me to do the same thing. I landed in Australia and went to the bathroom in the airport. And Mike and I sent each other videos to see if they were spinning from his house the same way. And they were both going clockwise. So that was a disappointment. But that one time I have noticed that I was saying this to Derek and I thought it was just one place. And I noticed over multiple visits. It's everywhere I've gone. Do you have to flip light switches down to turn them on? I, you know what? You might be right on that. I was just there. And I was like every room. I'm talking about the custom to it already. Like restaurant bathrooms. Are you going to a room?

42:48Yeah. Anyway, like it's the light flips up to turn off and down to turn on. The only reason like I have like my bedside. Yeah, those are switches. Those are different. Maybe like an actual light switch on the wall. Well, those are, yeah, but those are like I'm, I'm fumbling around trying to figure out which way it goes. So it very well might be if that's the case. Yeah. Anyway, that's what we've learned about Australia. Matt, the 40 Niners inside of NBC sports area. It'll be a part of our our premium coverage on Thursdays. Well, Matt enjoyed your time. 43:49So, in the Philippines though, all they got is that hose. Excuse me. I told you that. It's just it's like in every bathroom. It's a gentle. No, it looks like one of those like. It looks like you know, like on your sink, if you've got one of the hose, you can pull out the little gun top of the handle. Yeah. And you can like spray your dishes off. It's like that, but it's got a big long way that goes into the ground and now like a shower hose. No kind of similar. It's just like a smaller though. Yeah. It's got a little little nozzle. Yeah, you're just supposed to I guess just lift the leg and take care of you know what I mean. Not as gentle as the bidet is different banks of 40 over. No, but it's get different settings. This one is just on and off. Yeah. Oh, I tell you what though, hit some spots. Yeah, I tried to try once. Okay. All right. Like the natives. You know, I got you Adam Copeland, deep pop, Danny Dunhanging out. I think I think I guess he don't do that on a Tuesday afternoon. We'll take a quick break.
