They scored four runs in the fifth after falling behind one to nothing and then got five more runs in the sixth inning. So they remain a half game back of the San Diego Padres for the third and final wild card spot in the National League wild card division. The other important game is the Phillies. Their last gasp but trying to stay alive in the National League Eastern Division. They began the night four games back of Atlanta, but head to head series in Atlanta. And they were ahead by a run in the ninth inning and Atlanta scored a run to tie to send it to overtime. The Phillies went back ahead in the tenth and then Atlanta tied it again. And then the Phillies went ahead again in the eleventh inning and then were two down on the runner still at second base. The Braves tied the

4:13game on a base hit by a Ha Saan Kim and then won it on a gapper, a double by Drake Baldwin that got Kim home from first and Atlanta won that game. Six to five and now they have a five game lead over the Phillies who could have dropped it to only three with the rest of the weekend still to go in Atlanta. The Royals beat the Boston Red Sox three to two. The Red Sox have been struggling here the last couple of weeks. The subway series game at Yankee Stadium Yankee's over the Met's six to four Cody Belinger hit a three run homer in that one for the Yankees. Carlos Rodon got the win and Nolan McLean the young ace of the Met's took the loss. Bednar got to save in that one. And earlier today, it wriggly fielded the Cubs, clobbered the pirates 12 to two at wriggly. All right, there's the Toyota out of town scoreboard. In this one, it was Anthony Molina when we've

5:15gotten where we had gotten used to seeing him throw really well. And he got through the Padres in the first inning with a couple of strikeouts. And then the Giants came up in the last of the first inning and Cox led off against the former Giants. Robbie Ray with a single to right. And then later, he stole second with one out. He was at second for Bryce Eldridge and the pitch. Swinging, I drive up the middle. In the center field Bayes hit. Racing around third Cox. He scores easily as the throw goes into second. One to nothing. Giants. Yeah, so Bryce Eldridge is eighth RBI in the four games of this homestand. Then the Bussabi got to walk the Giants had a chance to add on against Robbie Ray. But then Ray, and we've seen him do it how many times, he got out of it, allowing just the one run. Then the Padres came up in the second inning and they scored two runs. Marl got it started with a long double. Dustin Harris, single them home and then Fermin,

6:18who had a big night behind the plate in many other ways, including with the bat. He hit a double to get the go ahead run home. And it was two to one Padres at that point. And then in the third inning, just a full on onslaught, a single by Cronenworth with one out, Camposano, double them home, three to one. Marl got a single. Then he stole second base. They had runners at second and third for Zander Bogarts. Three and two, the pitch. Bogarts hit a hard ground ball past the range of wit come down the left field line. That'll score two. Hill chasing into the corner, finally gets to the ball. Camposano and Marl both score into second with a double. Bogarts, it's five to one Padres. And that was not all of the damage, although he got some tailor on a pop up for the second out. But it took him a long time to get the final out of the inning. Next up was Dustin Harris. Here's a drive out towards right field and deep. It is off the bricks.

7:23And it takes a hard carom past Junghul Lee flying around second heading for third Harris. Bogarts into score and Harris dives into third with a triple. Padres make it six to one. And they still weren't finished. Next up, Fermin who already had that RBI double in the second inning. And then he did it again. The pitch. That one is lined to left. That's going to be another hit. One two hops up against the wall. Harris scores Fermin to second. He's got his second double. His second run batted in. Seven to one Padres. Yeah, seven to one. They had five hits in seven at bats in that third inning with runners in scoring position. And even after Tati's the next hitter drew a walk. They were still threatened to get more when Kronenworth hit a fly ball to Shadow left center. And that was it. It was a 32 pitch inning for Molina. And he left behind.

8:25Seven to one. And then Robbie Ray really seemed to settle in. The Jads did not get another hit against him. Or even another base runner until the fifth inning still seven to one. But Kisner led off the fifth inning with a double. And then cost drew a walk. The control issues have played Robbie Ray especially since he went to the Padres. And after he walked cost putting two men on, lead off man Jonah Cox came up and he walked. And suddenly they had the bases loaded for Raffi Devers. Middle infield double played that the one strike pitch. Swing and they drive along the right field line deep way back there. Harriels, Pelota, Buck Grant slam for Devers. The Giants have come charging right back into this game. It's now seven to five Padres. And all the Giants base runners waited the plate to jump on the back of Raffi Devers. High fives

9:27all around. 36th home run of the year for Raffi L Devers after his two days of rest. Yeah, so Devers just unloaded on that one and it seemed like he didn't even hit at that high off the ground. He hit it at 102 miles an hour. Although Stadcast didn't say what have been a home run in every other ballpark in the major leagues in addition to this one. It was his 36th home run and his second grand slam of the year, his ninth career grand slam. It was also for the team, which is rather extraordinary considering the kind of a year it's been for the Giants. It was the ninth grand slam by the Giants this season. That's the most in major league baseball. And it equals the all time San Francisco Giants record going back to 1958 the first year that they were in town. And the only other time they ever hit nine grand slam in a single year was

10:2911 years ago, 2015. So an extraordinary moment. And suddenly the 7-1 game, it was 7-5. And the Giants who had just made that big come back in the eighth inning on Wednesday against the Cardinals now had visions of maybe doing the same. But the difference was that once you get into the Padres bullpen life is not easy. And the Giants, as it turned out, would never score again in this one. The Giants did come up and load the bases in the ninth inning against Mason Miller, the greatest closer in the game, one of the greatest closures ever having his greatest year. And he retired the first two Giants. So it was two down nobody out when pinch hit or Nate Furman came up, but he drew a walk.

11:31Now Cox came up with two down, keep in mind. And Debra's came out on deck. And here's what happened on the second pitch seen by Jonah Cox. Here comes the Buntson on the third base side. Face hit. The Padres gave him the Bunts. He said, I know what to do next. He took it and perfectly executed. And Debra's will get a shot at Mason Miller. As the catcher, Fermin goes out to the mound to talk to Miller. Yeah, so as Dave described it, there was definitely a buzz in the ballpark. Remember, it was two down nobody on. They needed a couple of base runners to get it to Debra's. And then Furman got the walk. Cox got the Bunts single. And there was Debra's. However, it seemed that the Padres had decided and who can blame him that Debra's was not

12:31going to be the guy to beat him. And he ended up walking. So now the bases were loaded and Bryce Eldridge, who already had a single and a double in this game and a run battered in, who already had eight runs battered in in four games on this homestand. It was Eldridge and it was another great battle. And finally Miller, using everything that he had finally got him to end it. And he struck him out looking after quite a battle. And that was the way it ended. The Giants left the bases loaded in the ninth. A seven to five win for the Padres. Miller through 27 pitches in getting his 35th save of the year. And the difference maker of the game and for the Giants, the difference maker to make that ninth inning possible comeback, even remotely possible, was because of junior Marta, the 23 year old right header who gave them five shut out innings
