1:27It's March madness and the Broncos are getting madness going in a free agency. Believe it or not, they've signed someone. We're going to break it down live from the Xfinity studio here inside the DNVR bar and we are the DNVR Broncos podcast. Got my guy Henry Chisholm. We got Dion behind the camera and it is March madness. Season Zach seems rocking and rolling with you. Henry, how are we feeling on the first day of March madness? Feeling good. Just watching basketball. So Lexi's at town, which she was disappointed about to miss all this. But she's on the other side of the country, which means for the next four days, it's all basketball. I can't even imagine how much basketball you're going to watch. It's going to be pretty crazy. I'm sure people can guess what's behind Henry's screen. No, because this is America. And in America, we have March madness on during the work day.

2:33If you're not doing that, then you should probably get kicked out or something. It should probably just be a holiday today and tomorrow, because productivity has to drop for everyone in America. And also the day after Super Bowl should be a holiday, which actually, I believe in a couple of years, when they expand to 18 games, they'll push Super Bowl back to President's Day weekend so that Monday will be a day off. I hope everyone is enjoying some college basketball today. And we can enjoy it because the Broncos have finally made an outside free agent signing on today's show. We got a big show. We're going to hear from Jalen Waddle, who talked to the media for the first time since the trade went through. We're also going to talk to Brian Baldinger about the trade and what Jalen Waddle brings to the Broncos. But let's first start off with the breaking news of the day, Henry. The Broncos have officially signed their first outside free agent. And it's a backup safety Tyson Anderson from the Cincinnati Bengals.

3:37Does this move just get you going? I've been saying I've I'd really like some defenders from that Bengals defense. That's what that's what the Broncos are missing. But no, it's a backup safety. I was on the draft pod this morning. So I haven't had a chance to really dig in too deep. But the fit makes sense. It seems like the doors very much open for a drafted safety. You wonder what they're going to do with the third safety position. And when you make a move like this, you say, you're probably not going getting like some exceptional third safety to plug in who's like, could should be a starter somewhere. But we're going to try to use three safeties. And it didn't make sense for them for a lot of reasons. When you make this move, you say, okay, it should be a tick in front of Jale Skinner and Devon Key in terms of just like what he's done in defense because he played a whole bunch for the Bengals. I believe in the past couple of years, I did like the quick research yesterday when there was the rumor and then stopped immediately when the rumor stopped. But it does

4:37leave the door open. I think when you've got kind of those vets, the special teams guys, it leaves the door very much open to go draft a safety as well to kind of throw in there. But you no longer feel like we have to draft one early who we think can play right away. It's a good, good clean move. Probably not much to worry about. Yeah, exactly. It's probably going to come in near the vet minimum there. Last year, he played 6% of the Bengals defense and snaps. So he actually wasn't a reason that the Bengals defense was that bad. He played 83% of the special team snaps. So core special teams guy. And Henry, what's interesting about this is the Broncos and Sean Payton's got here. They've made one of these signings, the second week of free agency, every single year. And not a single of those guys has actually like made the team or had an impact on the team. But it seems like when they sign these guys, it's like, okay, there's your veteran special team are just going to be great. Since the Broncos and Sean's been here, they've signed these guys, and they just have not panned out. So we'll see if he pans out. And honestly,

5:40this is going to be a little bit of a test for JL Skinner and for Devon Key. Like, can you beat out fourth year guy that we're bringing in to be the backup safety? And so this is just competition at that safety spot. And we'll see where it goes from there. But the Broncos first move is unsurprisingly special teams because they like to pick up those type of veterans right there. That's the update on the front of Broncos free agency. We'll see if they continue to make moves this weekend or next weekend. Probably more moves along these lines, especially after the big move that the Broncos made by trading for Jaylin Waddle. And the trade became official. You guys did an awesome 90 minute special show yesterday. I was supposed to join you. And to break down Jaylin Waddle's press conference. And then his press conference was an hour and five minutes after the time that they expected. So wasn't able to. But we've got it all for you right now. And

6:47before we dive in Henry, the news everyone wanted to hear. Jaylin Waddle is officially wearing number 17 with the Broncos. Yeah. No, I make sense. He was going to get that one more the other. Good for him. Can start ordering the jerseys, I guess. You like it? Yeah. Yeah. It's his number. I was going to say actually think 17 is a bad number for a receiver, but he pulls it off well. And it is his number. Back at Bami, he was wearing it. He wore it Miami. So absolutely love that. I think there's going to be a lot of 17 jerseys in the stands this coming season. Yeah. No, I'm curious where he would rank. They'll definitely make them. Oh, yeah. They'll make them. They make court. And so you'd think those are kind of the two receivers. They'd make dobbins last year. I wonder if they start making them this year. Make dobbins. No. I mean, one year deal. Sign and lay. Yeah. Obviously made bow. And then I think they made some Evan Ingram at some point, but I don't remember seeing a lot of them. So I was kind of your group. I think they made

7:51some more Marvin jerseys than you might have expected as well. Okay. But yeah, it's kind of interesting, but you'd think Waddle will be a big seller. Yeah. I would think so. I definitely think he'd be a big seller there. And so Henry, before we dive in and actually get to hear from Jalen Waddle. Yes. Thank you. Before we hear from Jalen Waddle, I want to make a point about when we heard from Jalen Waddle yesterday, this is the first time that in the Sean Peyton era, the Broncos have had an introductory press conference for a free agent signing or someone that was traded. So first time in the Sean Peyton era. And it's not like the Broncos haven't gone out and made some big time moves. Obviously, they spent like hundreds of millions of dollars the first year with Michael Glynchee, Zach Allen, Ben Powers. The next year, they had that down year where they weren't able to spend a lot because they had the cap pit of Russell Wilson. But last year, they went out and they spent money, Evan Ingram, Dre Green, LaTalino, Huffunga. The only way that we were able to hear from those guys was Benny got them on the show last year. He did not have

8:55those guys. None of those guys had introductory press conferences except for Jalen Waddle. Which is interesting because so you go back through and say, Zach Allen, Ben Powers, Mike Glynchee was the first class. McGlynchee, probably the biggest name of the group. If anybody got one too. Yep. If anybody would have got one, you'd think he would be kind of highest rated. But Waddle would beat him out just in terms of like, right. Goodness. I guess. Yeah. Yeah. You go through and say, nothing the year after would have moved the needle. But the Funga Greenlock Ingram is interesting. We would have thought all three of those. Right. Because they're very, they would be about in that Jalen Waddle tier of player. All like different paths to get there. Maybe Greenlock the lowest. It's helpful to Funga because the all pro. Right. Is a separator. Right. But then with the injuries and some of that, you're a little bit removed. So yeah, I am surprised. And I think the whole reason for that was when Sean came here, if you remember, his whole thing and his opening press conference was we're not going to show you

10:01what we're doing, but no, we're working behind the scenes. We're working. We're not going to show it. And so he brought that attitude because it was a complete opposite of what the Broncos had the year before when they literally followed the Broncos around in their coaching search and put it out on social media and on YouTube. And obviously Russell Wilson was all about grabbing the headlines and the attention and Sean say we're putting an end to all of that. But I think this shows just how significant it is for the Broncos internally that they wanted to go and show off Jalen Waddle. It's also the first time that any free agent or trade has done an interview with the Broncos themselves right after Eric DeLaladita, a one-on-one right after. So it's significant. And you know who signs off on all this? Sean Payton, right? These things don't happen if Sean Payton doesn't have the approval right there. And so it just shows how pumped Sean is for this. So it was actually was kind of a big moment yesterday. Now we didn't get to see him in person, but he was in the Broncos, past the physical, became official right after the show ended yesterday. And now we got to hear

11:06from him. And I'll tell you what, man, he is a stand-up guy. He's a fantastic teammate. We just continue to hear stories come out of Miami from teammates, but also from media members that are like dang. He was one of the bright spots in a low season for the dolphins last year. I'm going to miss talking to him. So we get to interact with him. Broncos country gets to fall in love with him. And I think Broncos country is already beginning to fall in love with him. 14:15a Bronco has been like. It's been great. My time has been great. It feels like home, feel like family. Everyone's been welcoming. So it's been great. Boom, it's been great. Feels like home, feels like family already. Man, it must have been a great 24 hours with it feeling like home and family already. I think the biggest thing I learned from the press conference yesterday is he's not much of a talker. Yeah. Doesn't really have much to say. And then you realize that he's like best friends with Pat's or Tan. You're like, okay, it makes sense. They probably just sit there and look at each other. Wow. No need to talk. Oh, they need his other's company. Yeah. He doesn't, doesn't speak for long, but he is a very nice guy. Too nice. One of the things that really stood out to me, though, and we'll get to this with some other answers. Actually, you know what? No, let's just dive into it. No, I'm not sure which angle to take. If we want to hear from him more right now, or if we want, oh, oh, actually,

15:17this is where I was going to go shout out to Parker Gabriel for this scoop. So one of the reasons why it feels like home and feels like family is so he found out about the trade Monday morning, went to the Dolphins facility and said goodbye to everyone there. Then he flew immediately to Denver. So he was in Denver on Monday night. And he had dinner with Bo Nix and some of the Broncos teammates on Monday night before that getting into the building on Tuesday, passing his physical officially trade going through. So that's a really cool thing. Bo did that right right away, even with a baby just a couple weeks old. Yeah. If I had a baby, I'd be trying to get away from the baby too. Yeah. No, it's it's good. We like we like when they go to dinner. Yeah, with their with their teammates, we I like it. You're being said. Yeah. No, no, no, it's a good thing. That's yeah, I'm sorry. Broncos to crack to me said it was Tuesday night for everything. I need some. Oh, the throat. What do they call the throwing the throwing camp? Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Those those really only matter when you're a Peyton Manning or when you don't have a

16:19quarterback and then they do the the passing camp and then you're like, oh, man, this guy's taken taken leadership right now. Exactly. Simeon's doing exactly. No, not doing it, I think. And then it's you blow that out of proportion. But with Bo here, no worries on that end. Okay. So what what does Jalen say? He brings to the Broncos. Let's hear from him. Um, I think I'm just bringing another playmaker to the team. Um, someone that can help out and, um, you know, try to make plays the best of my ability. Pretty spot on. I mean, we saw his second year in the NFL when he was the playmaker in the NFL, led the NFL in yards per catch it over 18 yards. And I think that's a very precise way because he's not just a route runner. He's not just a deep threat. He's not just a yards after the catch guy. Uh, he's, he's an everything guy. He's a playmaker. And that's exactly what he is.

17:22It is interesting. I think the next gen stats, one of those guys brought, uh, posted this morning. But so top speeds on routes, 22, there are 2022 and 2023. He hit 20 miles per hour, 20 times. Wow. 2024 and 2025 only two times. So, so RK and I talked about yesterday's look like there's a touch less, but he's made up for that because he's just been like, he knows what he's doing now. Like he actually is playing receiver versus at the time. It's more so just like run really fast. Um, it was kind of kind of interesting. Yeah. And I mean, someone in the toy to Chad Jake is playing out here in a four, three, six, 40 time. I think it's also going to be, I think Sean is really Sean and Davis Web are going to use the Broncos speed with Marvin Mims with Waddle with Troy Franklin, uh, by wearing teams down and defenses out by just sending all of these guys on go routes left and right. So by the time the third quarter and fourth quarter come around, especially when people are playing in Denver in the mile high, they're just, they're absolutely

18:23gas and then Waddle can just burn by him right there. Um, we also have a, uh, comment from Jake who says he's sort of mentor the young ins. That's not the only reason he's here, but I absolutely loved his approach yesterday when talking about the receiver room. He was asked, what's it like to be, uh, the number one receiver here? How does that change? He completely shrugged that off and said there's not a number one here. And then he, he went on to go and talk about the wide receiver room. And I thought this answer was great, which is how much praise he heaped on this entire receiver room, despite yesterday being about him. So let's hit the clip about him talking about the lot of talent in the receiver room. It's gonna be a fun group. Um, they got a lot of talent, court, mar, Troy, Pat, the Jordan, um, I'm here to help in every, you know, fashion, um, making plays, um, and I'm learning, I'm excited to learn from them and them to learn from me. So it should be fun. It should be great. I love that he went through and listed every receiver except

19:24for Bandy. Sorry. Sorry Michael Bandy, but Russell Wilson. He, it is, it is. He hit a little Jordan. He hit court. He didn't even call him like Marvin Mims. He said, Marb. He knows, he said court. He knows these guys nicknames. All right. I clearly these guys are probably a dinner as well. Uh, Troy, I love that. I think this is, uh, this is just shows the type of person and the type of teammate and the type of player that the Broncos are getting is in a world full of devil wide receivers. Yeah. The Broncos are getting someone that fits in this room extremely well and it just reminds me of Cortland Sutton because Cortland Sutton, uh, could have been a devil wide receiver the past seven years with the Broncos, but instead he's just been the ultimate me guy. I mean, we've seen him have a game against the Norland Saints where he had zero catches and he didn't complain about that right after you see some other guys around the league that get zero catches in a game. And even if the, even if the team wins like the Broncos did, uh, they just start freaking out on the sidelines, start reading books, start complaining to the media. And that's just not the

20:28culture that Sean Peyton's setting here. So he clearly did his homework. The Broncos did and Sean did with, uh, with Jalen and man, they got a team first guy, not a me first guy. There was another answer. Well, he was asked about his personal goals, uh, and he completely shrugged that off and just pointed to team goals, uh, doing anything I can to help the team win and, and stack wins left and right. So I think that this is, uh, this is really impressive because this is the one position that on the entire team that you have to kind of worry about like, okay, are we getting divas? And the Broncos don't have those divas here. Yeah. AJ Brown would have never named all the other receivers. Yeah. No, no. He would just said those other guys. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He probably would have been like, yeah, it feels great to be the number one without Devante Smith breathing the down my neck right now. And it's like, dude, come on. What are you doing, man? Right. So actually, we have that clip when he was asked, what are your personal and team goals? What do you, uh, what, what do those look like? Here was his answer. I wouldn't say nothing personal. Um, I would say for the team, um, just take a week by week, um,

21:31and you know, try to go out there and play a good brand of football and, um, you know, try to stack some wins together. Um, I think I'm just bringing another. I love it. It's, uh, team first, not me first, uh, and I think that this is something that Sean Peyton values so, so much. And that's why he brought guys back like Justin and Alex Singleton, uh, and, uh, moved on from other guys, not just this past year, but in years past where it wasn't that vibe as much. And even though Sean Peyton, I trust him being able to handle any character inside of a building. Uh, he doesn't want to have to do that. And he knows how sacred that locker room is. So I think that's just think that my biggest takeaway from yesterday, because I knew how good of a player. Jayden Water was before yesterday, but that was my biggest takeaway yesterday. It was man, they got, they got a really good guy too. And if you're best friends with Pat, Pat's about as good of a guy as you can get, probably mean you're a good guy as well. Yeah. No, I definitely. And he also said that he wants, uh, he wants Pat to, uh, show them the ways in the community and

22:35get him involved in some charity work. So, um, he's pressing the buttons. He's sitting all the buttons right here. What was the quiet? Oh, I think it was, are you going to get involved in the community? Yeah. That guy knows the stuff. No, I don't think so. I think, I think I'm just going to focus on the football. Um, speaking of Pat's or Dan, they've got a unique bond. Of course, they played football at Alabama together. They both came in as freshmen in 2018. Both one and national championship together in 2020. Both went in the 2021 draft. Both were top 10 picks. Jalen Wattow went sixth overall. Pat's or Dan went ninth overall. And they have been best friends since they were roommates together at Alabama, uh, and inseparable at Alabama and the draft process. Now they were separated over the past couple of years, one in Miami, uh, the other one in Denver. And so Jalen talked about joining Pat as teammates now. Here's what he said. Um, it was special. He was one of the first cars that I made. Um, you know, we talked about this

23:39early and not career. We want to get together and play with each other. So just seeing it happen. And, um, it's special. The dream come true for these guys. I wasn't ready for that. I thought that was important. Did you not listen to the other four clips? They're all about eight to 10 seconds by on the plane. That's the key. Oh, man. Uh, yeah. PR loves it. This land on the plane left and right. Um, and he's, uh, I, I could let's do it for much longer though, because he just sounds like he has so much joy at the very end. He yelled a big thank you to the media for talking with him today or yesterday. Um, and man, it's going to be, and then so the other thing about Pat's or Dan, the viral clip that went out this past week when Jalen was asked, he was at a boxing UFC boxing fighting. I don't know what it was. Who's like an off brand? I don't know what it was. Octagon. They were in a cage or something. They were in something. Jalen wasn't there. He was just watching. And he was asked, um, with a guy holding a PlayStation 2 remote as, uh, yeah, as a microphone, which I thought was very interesting. I don't live in that. We're, I live in the football

24:42world. Not the, yeah, I was shocked by that as well. Mid-tier MMA world. But so this guy asked Jalen, if you could fight any player in the NFL in a ring who would it be? And Jalen immediately said Pat's or Dan and said he'd beat the F out of him. And then went on to say he beat the dog shit out of the body. And so that went viral online. He obviously said it playfully as a joke. Uh, and then Pat, quote, tweeted it and said, you have a little too much drip in your chip. Dip on your chip. Thank you, Dion. You want to translate that for me? I, well, I'd rather, what would the translation of Zaxby? I don't know. I think you have a little too much confidence. If you just put some earrings on your chip, trip on your chip. On your chip? What is your chip? A metaphor. Right. Oh, there's kids.

25:43Oh, it literally means that. Oh, right, right. I thought I was talking about Bella jewelry he was wearing. I'm like, he's not actually wearing jewelry. So then you imagine drip on the chip would then be like a chain or like some, but why would too much be bad? I mean, I think you can never put enough salsa on a chip. The chip would just be a weird place to put it. Well, right. Oh, it's about having a ring. I see. So Pat's calling him out for being five, ten, one, eighty five and not six, three, two, five, like him. Also, Dion producer might actually be our intermediary considering he was teammates with Jalen Waddle. Did you get the scoop from him yesterday? I don't know when you asked him. Dion, did they ask you about him yesterday? We got to get the whole story right now. So Dion, you grew up with Jalen Waddle. You were teammates with him. You also are on a magazine with him. Why have we just not toss the show to you yet? Dion, take over. No, I played seven on seven with the Jalen. So don't downplay that.

26:46If you could think about it, like obviously the best players from the entire city were trying to come together to be on the same team. Right. We played on seven on seven together. So if you look up fast seven on seven Houston, you'll probably see some crazy Jalen Waddle highlights. If you look up Jalen Waddle, a piscable high school crazy highlights because his high school was like maybe 10 minutes away from one. Yep. So were you were you going up against him one on one? No, because we were both like I played running back. I played a little slot behind him. You know what I mean? But I played running back. So we're both on offense. But for us, it was just about cooking the defense. Did you did you know he was that good? He's been a freak forever. There's a stand that came out. They said in high school, he scored on 54% of his targets. That's pretty crazy. He was targeted. Every time he called the ball, he scored a touchdown. That's pretty crazy. That is wild, holy cow. Man, there you

27:47go. One of one of Jalen Waddle's teammates, you're going to have to lure him into the not lure him. But you're going to have to get him into the bar and on the show. That is that is really, really cool. And obviously then Jalen Waddle, I mean, everyone knew he was that good coming out of high school because he was five star, went to Alabama, played pretty much right away. How about this stat? This blows my mind about how good Jalen Waddle was in Alabama, his final season, which was only his third year at Alabama. Henry, in the first four games of the season, they were all against SEC teams. And he had almost 600 receiving yards, four touchdowns, I think 26 catches. He was averaging 150 yards per game. And then he broke his ankle to effectively end the season. He came back to the national championship game win the Alabama won the national championship. So he was there for that. But he was on pace for one of the best seasons that a receivers

28:51ever had. And he did this against SEC competition. That just shows how good he was and why he was a six overall pick. He also have Lance Zeerlein. Zeerlein, right? Yeah, that's a draft analyst who, wait, let me just pull up this quote because I want to make it get it right. Coming out of the draft, Lance said about Jalen Waddle thrilling game breaking talent who will come into the league is one of the fastest receivers to ever play the game. That's who the Broncos got. Playmaker fastest hell. He's been special since he was 14, according to Dion. And man, Broncos getting absolute dog. Good guy speaking, a good guys. Baldi was looking sharp last week when we talked to him. Excited to talk to him today. A couple more notes on Jalen Wadow when I was just scanning things, was hoping to give them to you guys yesterday, but wasn't able to with with the Broncos press conference going long. He had the second he's he's an elite vertical threat. He had the second most receptions on vertical routes last year at 21 court and Sutton right behind him at 20. The Broncos have two of the top five guys in terms of efficiency and connection on on vertical routes last year. It's this is going to be not game changing because both already good at throwing the deep ball, but it's going to just take him to number one in the league in terms of being a deep ball passer. And the crazy thing about this is it's going to prove everyone wrong who just thought he was a check down merchant.

35:10Even people last year were still calm down merchant. Jalen Wadow is only going to help with that. And let's go out to the Xfinity mobile call in line where we've got our guy Brian Baldinger Baldi last week. He told us on the show you you were thinking Broncos are going to trade for a receiver and they did Jalen Wadow is a Denver Bronco. What's your initial thought on him joining the Broncos? Initial thought was wow. I mean to give up the first a third and a fourth to go get a receiver. It seems like a pretty high price tag, but it kind of makes the team pretty complete right now. You know when you think about what they have added whether it's bringing JK Dobbins back, you know bringing the majority of the defense back. I think Bonix has to love it. He's 27 years old. He's been highly productive, highly healthy. He's a great route runner. I think it's time for Broncos fans to learn how to do the Wadow right now because obviously when he gets to the end zone, that's what he's going to do.

36:13Yeah, it's interesting because it's been a few years since somebody's traded a first round pick for a receiver. And so you go back and look at those guys from 2022 where they're a bunch. And you see like AJ Brown, for example, down in Tennessee, getting like a thousand yards of season and then immediately jumps up to the 1400s per season when he leaves Tennessee gets to Philly. You see Stefan Diggs, very similar, that 1100 with Minnesota goes on and leads the NFL in receiving yards with Buffalo, 1500, 1500. I think back to back years in Buffalo. Do you think that when we look at Wadow who's producing it about the same level as those guys did is the upgrade from that two attack by Loa, Mike McDaniel offense to the Champaite and Bonix offense, the type of jump that could lead to that sort of change in terms of production? I don't know. He's had some unbelievable years. He led the league in yards per catch,

37:1318 yards of catch. He's had a thousand yard seasons. When two was healthy and him and Tyrick were going, I was pretty explosive offense. I mean, no Bronco fan wants to remember today, these scored 70 against him, but you know, that being said, we got to see how he, like how he can choose, because I think you can use him in a variety of ways. I think he can play inside. He can play outside. You can run him in motion. You can have him as a match-up guy right now. I think the offense is a whole lot better. I think Portland Sutton in his role as a true extra seeker gets a little bit more defined right now because they got a real speed guy that can work the middle of the field. He's an excellent route runner. This is a question right now of building timing with Boat at this point. Yeah, and Baldy, you mentioned court just how much this helps him. What do you think this means for the other receivers on the team? Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Pat Ryan. Well, if you want to get on the field and you want to be a part of this offense, it's going to make

38:15that room very competitive, you know, just to get playing time. Did you know Cortland and Jalen are going to be out there? So depending on the sets, depending on down distance, who's going to be the third? Is it going to be Troy? Which guy is going to be the number three receiver? Very few teams put four receivers on the field at one time anymore. We just don't see it. So not to say that. And this has really been Sean's thing. I mean, there are two back offense. Most teams in this league are heavy, two tight ends. We've seen the emergence of three tight ends sets throughout the league. So you want to be that third receiver right now. All right, Pat Bryant, Troy, like, you know, Marvin, like who's who's going to be that guy? I think it's going to be very, very competitive to see who gets it. Yeah, I'm excited just to see what Jalen looks like on the field. Like you said, how they use him because the deep stuff, the speed we've seen it, like you just can't cover him down field and all the different because it could be the post, it could be the corner. But underneath, I was surprised how effective he is. Like those speedouts, the way that he's able to get the

39:20release force of guy inside break back out. He seems to, is it crazy? Say he's one of the league's better route runners. He's a good route runner. I don't know if he's Jackson Smith and Jigba good. Stefan Dixon is prime good, but he's good because, you know, the key to being a great route runner honestly is, it's, it's, it sounds simple, but it's hard is can you, can you change direction without losing speed? Like you, they're out. You're just talking about it. You just run a speed out and against them and I don't care who you are at corner. Like you're going to respect the speed. You're going to give them some cushion. And so he, he makes it look like he's running just a go route. He breaks it off and he's coming back to the ball. I mean, I feel like that's there just about any time he wants it. There's going to be some pretty easy completions. You don't want to run that go route and make it is, you know, stop at 15, come back to 12. Like he can do that with the best of them. So the speed and his burst gets him open quite a bit. And so there's really no route he can't run right now. I love that, Baldi. And one of the things you told us going into free agency

40:24was probably the number Broncos number one need, I believe you said, is a is a true number one receiver. It was no disrespect to any of the receivers on the Broncos roster. And, and we totally understood where you were coming from. Does Jalen fit that? Is he that good where he is that true number one that the Broncos now have? He's better than what they have. I don't know if he's the best number one. But I think the number one receiver, it gets a tag which is, which is, which is important. But it's, is do you have a go to guy when you got to make a play? Like I think that's what the go the number one receivers do. Like, like they just put them in places where they know they can win. They know they can get that third down completion. They know they can get a drive starter. They can finish drives. I don't know. Because like you said, okay, DK Metcalfs the number one. He is, but he can't run routes the way Jalen water can. Now, would you like a six foot four X that can run like DK? Yeah. But they're hard to find. You know, his size, I think

41:29that's the only, that's the only thing that knocks him down just a little bit. Like he just isn't that big presence. Even Justin Jefferson is bigger. Jamar is stronger. You can pick a part different guys. But I think he's a complete receiver. And so there's a place for Jalen water on the slate to be, you know, to get hard target in 120 times, which I think he will this year. Yeah. And I'm curious how Sean likes the bigger receivers. He likes the big targets. It makes a lot easier, especially for a young quarterback to see him and then hit him. And if you miss it a little bit right, he's got the long arms to be able to reach out and make those grabs. One of the things that Tua is really good at, even as, you know, they've been like the ups and downs is just those touch throws in the placement on some of those. And a lot of Jalen success over the middle seems like it's coming on like layered throws over the linebackers or just hitting perfectly in stride. Do you worry at all that maybe Jalen did look a little bit better in the middle of the field because Tua had some of that, which is something, you know,

42:31Bo just hasn't been all that successful over the middle of the field yet. I would say the one thing about Tua is he was in, he saw the field very well. And he was in a hurry to get rid of the football. And the more injuries he incurred, the quicker he got rid of the football. So he needed a guy to win quickly. And that's what Tyrick and that's what Jalen did. I call him the blurred brothers for a couple of years when they played together because it was just what it was. But I think he could win quickly in the middle of the field. Now Bo is not in that big of a hurry. The way Tua was to get rid of the football. So in some ways, it may allow him to develop deeper routes than what he's did. Unless you just do a go route on three steps and just put it up there. Let him go run underneath it. He wasn't really running a lot of those routes. So I think with Bo, he might have a chance to actually get him on some deeper routes than what he's running right now, which should open up everybody underneath. And then so Baldi with the younger blur brother in Denver. Now, what does that mean for Bo and his expectations? Because we saw

43:37a really impressive Ricky season. We saw a jump in year two. Now with this sort of weapon, can we expect another significant jump in year three or with just how good he's been these first two years? Should we temper the jump expectation? It's hard to make the same jump that he just made. You know, to make another quantum leap like that. But I he just looks like a player that's just going to continue to improve. Third year in the system. Not a lot of guys get that luxury in this late three years in the same system. Same play call or I know Sean's not going to technically calling plays, but same system. Like I think it's a luxury right now, especially young guy that you know played a lot of games at college. You know, you look at him now in the last five years. He's going to he's going to play over a hundred games. Like he's played a lot of football and they go into his third year this off season. Healthy third year in the system. You add water right now. I think there's another jump form. You know, because he's been largely healthy up until obviously, you know, the last injury, but which was just weird to me. But, you know,

44:41largely he's going to be just fine here this off season. And I think a third year in a system, I would expect another jump. I just don't know how big, but you know, they're going to be the favorites to win the division this year. And you know, you look at the roster. You can look at, you know, they still have seven draft picks left. They don't they can just sit there and literally take the best player available at any position right now because I feel like the roster is pretty complete. Yeah, I feel that way too. I'm curious what you think about Kourtland Sutton's role in this offense, because it's getting like that true X they isolate him a lot. We saw a lot of that from Jalen Waddle as well last year, especially after Tyree went down. Do you think they use Kourtland differently? And what does just the game look like for Kourtland now that you do have a receiver like Jalen on the other side? You're probably drawing more number two corners. Yeah, I, you know, like, you know, look, Kourtland is going to beat a lot of corners. It's just because of his size and, you know, his ability to use his size. I mean, he's not as big as Michael Thomas was

45:43when Sean had him into Orleans when nobody could cover him just because of his size. Like, I don't think he's going to get targeted like that. Well, there was a great place for Kourtland Sutton right now. You know, you might see a lot of that where Jalen might draw the number one corner. I don't know that that's going to be a big deal. A lot of teams don't have that type of defense where they just get these corners that travel with your best receiver. There's so many different ways to move these guys around now. You see Jamar and Justin. You see these guys are all over the field now. Just to, just to be able to, you know, get guys off press coverage, you know, stack routes and bunch formations. There's so many ways to kind of loosen things up right now. The way play callers are designing offense. So I think there's a good place for Kourtland. I don't know that he's kind of have a diminished role just because Jalen's coming in this. They're going to have two really good receivers that can win in a variety of ways right now. Baldi, final football won for you here. You mentioned the draft Broncos don't have the first pick until 60 second in the draft after

46:46trading that first rounder away. And you mentioned Broncos just go best player available. If, if you got to choose though, which position it is, which position do you think would would be the best use for the Broncos first pick in the draft? I don't think you could ever go wrong with drafting in the trenches. They lost John Franklin Myers. Like, you know, Zach Allen is not going to get younger. He's still a great player, DJ Jones. You can't go wrong. He's a good draft for defensive front seven players, inside linebackers and defensive line. It's a great draft for it. It's probably the strength of the draft. And probably as good as we've seen. So you can't go wrong with drafting those positions right now. You can't go wrong with drafting, depth of the offensive line. Just knowing contracts come up, you want to keep somebody, you want to, you know, how much you're going to pay to keep somebody in free age. I don't have the contracts in front of me of, you know, Ben Powers or any of the guys, a Wattenberg or any of the guys up front right now. But you can't go wrong with just

47:47adding depth to those positions. Absolutely. Love it, Baldi. Before you get out of here, the weather's been incredible. I know you've had to spend some time in the ocean here. What's the most recent marine animal that you've seen down there? Well, I wasn't there, but like, right, I'm in Fort Lauderdale right now, but right off the coast, late last week, there was a whale sighting, like literally 500 feet off shore. Wow. Okay. Now, I've never seen a whale, all right, in Fort Lauderdale ever. I've never heard one. You can hear him from miles away. But I'm going out there. It's rough today. It's too rough to go out there today. But as soon as it comes down, I'm going out there to look for that whale. I love it. 50:00three or four free agents to talk to you about. Tell us about Alex Singleton, which we've asked you about before. Instead, he just get to dig into everything about Jalen Waddle. What do you think of his impression of Jalen? Which part? I think he basically got it right. Jalen is limited. There are things that other receivers can do that he can't do. Just because of his size? Yeah, just because of his size. He's a smaller target. You don't see so many of the toe tap tracking the ball with the sideline catches, which occasionally those smaller receivers sometimes have more like you think of like Antonio Brown was just like a magician on the sidelines and would always real those in. Justin Jefferson's another guy a little bit bigger, obviously, but makes some of those like tricky over the shoulder where you say if you can just put the ball right on him, he's going to find a way to get it. And then there's obviously the bigger guys who can go up and just

51:02catch the ball over the top or the guys who can make the crazy one handed catches. OBJ and I'd say like hands are even potentially like a plus for Jalen. They just aren't like the freaky plus that separates that top tier of like Jamar Chase once a game. Yours can be like, wait, he was open and I didn't think he was open. And there's like that list of like eight of those guys. Or maybe not even that many. And then just the fact that he's a little bit smaller target. It's a lot easier to get a ball to a guy who's bigger because it's literally just an easier throw. Like if I'm this big versus this big, it's different. And if I'm this big, then my arms mean I'm this big. It's like, who is that boy here? Oh, very few receiver. I mean like AJ Brown is. AJ Brown's got that with. He didn't get it. Oh, oh, yeah. No, we're talking about something else. But yeah, I think I think that those are kind of the limitations that make him like Baldi said, like he's not just somebody who it's third down. He's automatically just your go to guy. But there are a lot of things that you

52:07like based on almost anything the defense can throw at him. And so you have to he has to get that separation in order to be successful. And luckily, he's really good at getting a separation. Yeah. And that's a great way to put exactly what Baldi said. And it it fits an exactly we've been talking about. We've been talking about how he is a top 10 receiver in the NFL. Like right right around there, you can argue 12. You can probably even argue eight or seven depending on the year. And he can continue to get up and into that top 10. Well, Baldi said is he's he's not Jamar Chase. He's not Justin Jefferson. And I don't think anyone was expecting that. If you wanted Jamar Chase or Justin Jefferson, you probably have to give up three first round picks, which would be an insane thing to do for a wide receiver. And instead, you gave up the 30th pick in the draft. So I think that Baldi really played it out well to about how he is going to benefit Courtland Sutton. This is a good thing for Courtland Sutton. And it is going to be interesting to see how that third receiver position plays out. Does one person by the end of

53:10the year really step up into that role and take that job for moving forward for the next few years? Or is it just a continuous cycle of those three guys? It's going to be interesting to see. I just really hope that Marvin Mims still gets a chance. Speaking of Marvin Mims, happy birthday, Marvin Mims turned 24 years old today. That is insane. I feel like Jalen Wattles a pretty young receiver for being in the league for a couple of years. He's 27. Marvin Mims has been in the year in the NFL for what three years now. And he's turning 24. So happy birthday to our guy, Marvin right there. But I just hope that Marvin still gets an opportunity as a receiver because man, it seems like anytime he gets an opportunity, he just absolutely shines, including 155 receiving yards, two touchdowns and the playoffs last year, just in two games. Incredible. Yeah. I also, I pulled up the Madden ratings, which are always kind of like an interesting take on things. So they have 20 guys in front of Jalen, including Court, which is kind of interesting. But again, like you go to the top of the list and it's guys like Jamar. So what does Jamar do? He's fast enough to beat you deep. He's got the routes to each underneath. He's physical enough

54:12to beat the press. He can go up and while he's not the biggest himself, he plays bigger because of the strength and the explosiveness and then just has like the insane hands to make the crazy catches too. Yeah. And so again, like in every kind of every one of those boxes you look for, oh, run after catch as well. Yep. You can give them the ball and screens. So in every one of those boxes, he just grades out about as high as you can. Yep. And that's why 99 overall. But you go through and see like, okay, Puka, similar to Wattle, I think in a lot of ways, not as fast. Wattle has the speed. Yep. But in terms of the separation, Puka is like a step ahead and then just has more of like the one handed like goes and gets it. And you kind of go through and just see like where things, where things change, like a Monterey St. Brown last speed, but then even up another tier with some of that stuff. Right. JSN, Justin Jefferson, CDLAM. Like you go through and then realize that there is kind of that tier of like they have him near. Same, same actually as Garrett Wilson and Malik neighbors. Malik, you would say, I'll probably say that. Right.

55:19Exactly. Like it's something like Malik. It's both those guys in terms of like that comp. And it's very similar because like Malik does make some of those crazy catches. First of all, like the tracking which which adds some of that value. Yeah. Not quite as crafty as Wattle. Garrett Wilson does make more catches outside his frame. Maybe does have a little bit more of the routes, but doesn't have the speed. Right. So just kind of interesting. Can you go through the tiers? Like they're a tick behind a chrysalave, a tick behind a, as a flowers, which is, again, doesn't mean these are perfect. A tick behind the T Higgins. So I don't know. It's it's just kind of fun to go through like the overalls or specifically Jalen's 86 started the year at an 85 got up to an 86 by the end of the year. I love it. Let's get to 90 this year. Decay and 85 pure speed. I wonder, say even have Wattles a tick faster, but then you have the size for all the jump ball stuff down the field, but you don't have any of the routes. And so that's why you say Wattle in front. And again, like not perfect ratings by any means, but just to kind of compare to the guys in

56:21that tier. Man, there just are so many. There's so many receivers. So many good ones. So many good enough. It's like there are so many good receivers in the NFL. So few great quarterbacks in the world. Right. Offensive line probably goes more toward the quarterbacks where there's fewer of them. Then you actually then you actually need receiver might be the wealthiest position in terms of just like the talent that's there. And that's it just makes it interesting when you try to figure out who would you prefer. Because you like you. If you were to ask me what receivers I put in front of Jalen Wattle, Terry McLoren wouldn't come to mind. But then you see the list and you're like, that's true. There Terry McLoren also does exist. You just wouldn't really think of it. But even out there, it's like maybe maybe not quite as fast as Wattle, but close to it in the craftiness and proven and all that sort of stuff. It's like what do you do with the Devante atoms at this point? If you're planning for the future, you certainly want Wattle, but Devante is still

57:21kind of doing his thing. Even if at any moment, it could all crash. And that's why when you say like where does he rank against other wide receiver ones in the NFL, all of a sudden he's waiting. But if by the end of the year, you're saying he's actually in the top eight, you're not surprised at all, but there are just so many guys who have different skill sets or similar, whatever it may be, who are also just coming off like a 1200 yard season or something. And you're like, well, you have to do that. But it is it is interesting to see like Cortland in 87 Wattle in 86. And it's just like yeah, because yeah, so Madden has Cort as a Broncos number one. Right. And if you're a defense, how do you play? It's not it's not as simple as like if you're the Broncos, do you just put Pat on Wattle or do you say put Pat on court? You'll go to about that with Riley on the other side who's twitched up a little bit more. And you're probably just leaving safety help regard like it is interesting and how you decide to defend these guys, especially just with the size differences

58:23with that's unique size. Right. You probably are just leaving Pat on one side, Riley on the other, you're not following your way. Probably not. And then you're right, safety help for Wattle. And if that's what a team with like a true number one corner, right. And you don't worry too much about the I guess drop off isn't the word because there is a significant drop off because it's Pat. But but guys who are good at what they do on the other side of the second corner, like if if the Broncos aren't following Jalen Wattle, if they were to game plan, you'd imagine, I mean, what what team would? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So the matchup question, which which allows the Broncos to do more with those matchups, too. Right. Like you're going to know more. So this guy's going to be on the right. This guy's going to be on the left. Yep. And how do we want to attack? Man, it's a great point. It's a great question. Gen X hive mind says we have one A and one B at wide receiver. As of as of today. Yeah, exactly. As of today, I still don't think it's out of the question that the Broncos will have a one C at wide receiver by the end of the season. And it would be, I mean, just look at Troy,

59:26look, I mean, look at Troy's progression. Man, 200 yards as a rookie, 700 yards, his second year, that's why I was comfortable with the Broncos going into this season with the receiver group they had. Now, I love the addition of Jalen Wattle because it just upgrades instantly. And I still think it allows Troy to become that guy. But man, with Troy, if he just takes another step, not even a massive step, another step, he's at a thousand yards right there. Now, obviously, probably hindered in terms of like actually getting there with bringing Wattle and but then memes. What if they just actually use him as receiver like they have in certain games as like a full-time receiver? And man, he's a thousand yard guy. He's been on incredible pace. And then Pat Brian might be Sean's favorite receiver on the team or at least favorite young receiver on the team. And so I mean, he just has all the upside in the world too. And that's probably a reason why you won't see a one C receiver evolve is because they're just all three going to rotate. But man,

1:00:26I think all three of those guys have the talent and opportunity to potentially become that type of guy and be like right up there with court and Jalen in a good way. Yeah. I think you just don't know how it's going to play out. And I've gone back and forth and back and forth like the the fact that Jalen Wattle is he was third and catches 10 to 20 yards down field in the middle of the field, the middle third of the field. It's like he is incredibly successful there. Bo of every of the 33 quarterbacks he threw the most passes ranked 30 second and passer rating out of those 33 in the middle of the field. In that particular box where Jalen Wattle is and so like to me, this whole thing, like whether the trade was worth it, whether the Broncos have like this high powered offense might just come down to what happens in that box. Like is that like Jalen Wattle is the answer to that? And it turns out the problem was you just didn't have guys like receivers who excel in that area or is it Bo just isn't great throwing

1:01:32over the middle of the field. And so all of a sudden you lose some of the value that he brings. Yeah. In a perfect world, obviously, you just say like, oh, this is perfect, which opens up Evan Ingram underneath and all that. But that to me is the real swing is what happens in that box 10 to 20 yards down field. Because if you get I mean, then your linebackers are off and back and what does that do for the run game?
