About this episode
If you go outside today in many parts of the country you may think you're on Mars. Wildfires in Canada are sending fumes south obscuring iconic U.S. skylines with an orange glow. But as striking as the images are, they come with a serious health warning. Steven Fabian has details. And it's the deadliest high school mass shooting in U.S. history. 17 killed in Parkland, Florida. Now five years later the fired sheriff's deputy who was labeled a coward for staying outside, is going on trial. As Les Trent reports, this is a rare case of someone being charged because of what they didn't do. Plus, a major development in the neighbor feud that left a mother of four dead. After a public outcry the 58-year-old woman who pulled the trigger was arrested after a debate over “stand your ground” laws. And an arrest has been made in the shooting at a graduation ceremony in Richmond, Virginia that left two people dead and five others wounded. Now during the height of graduation season, around the country, schools are beefing up security before handing out diplomas.
