Hugh Douglas, Joe Gilley, you guys, with us 215-592-9494. We got a lot to get to over the next couple of hours here, including how the market now changes for the Eagles and AJ Brown with Jail and Waddle going to the Denver Broncos at one o'clock. You know what it's time for, guys? It's time for one hour from now. Our first daily market, one o'clock. Hugh, it's our first one leading up to the NFL Draft, which is how many weeks do we weigh five, six weeks away? It's not that far away from the NFL Draft.
We'll see what picks we have. We know we have 23. So we'll start that at one o'clock. And then later in the show, we have to give out our favorite Cinderella's and the favorites, the overall favorites in the bracket of Hughes, which, of course, the bracket is out. We are working on getting it up for you to download and share and print it and do what you got to do to fill it out. Thursday, the matchups begin. Are you nervous about the bracket of Hughes? No, no, yeah. I'm nervous at all. Are any of the Hughes nervous about the bracket of Hughes to match it out? I haven't talked to him lately. But, you know, only one I've been really kind of interacting with is 3D printed Douglass. And he's more worried about, you know, some of the 3D print stuff that he's doing and stuff. Yeah. What are we printing lately? Oh, we've been printing, they're called Dragon Eggs. Dragon Eggs. Yeah. I've been working on my filament. Yeah. I printed out this dragon egg. I like the color. I do. I like that too. Yeah. Yeah. The color. And I'm just trying to get, you know, the aspect ratios and all those stuff right. 94 WIP breaking news. The Philadelphia Eagles are signing Marquis Hollywood Brown to a one year 10 million
dollar deal. All right. Well, we got Hollywood. So, earlier in the show, we talked about how Jeremy Feller and ESPN yesterday said how he was spending the weekend, not only trying to finalize the deal with Dallas, Goddard, but also out there looking for veteran, wide receiver help. Marquis Hollywood Brown heading to the Philadelphia Eagles. Did you say how many years it was? Was it a one year ten? Ten, ten, ten, I'm paying. Oh, wait. Oh, sorry. It was originally so Jordan Schultz said one year 10 million dollar deal, but he followed it up with signing with the goes for one year up to six and a half million. Okay. This source is cent of latent. Sure. It looks to me like the slightly less money, but kind of the Tariq Wolland version of the offense, a one year deal for a veteran wide receiver. Here 28 year coming off his age 28 season, he's had, um, he said, I would say one excellent year in the NFL. Back to 2021. Is it Baltimore? Was it a couple years ago? Baltimore. I think it was the first run pick up Baltimore, maybe back 2019, had one good year there, ended up on Arizona, and then ended up on Kansas City. If my memory serves, he got hurt his first year in Kansas City.
He didn't play much that year. Last year, 49 catches, 587 yards. Here your thought on Marquis Hollywood Brown. Ooh. Uh, I know they needed veteran receiver help, you know, Johan Dawson left a couple of weeks ago. We got signed by Falcons, Falcons, yeah, and, uh, I'm not, I'm still, I still think AJ is going to be here. I know that for a lot of people, these, these are the sign, tail tail signs that maybe they're, they're moving off from AJ. I don't see like that. I, I think that that receiver room was light, and I think that's why you went out and got that guy. When are you finally going to cross the finish line? I mean, we are pushing further and further away from AJ. When he's gone. Okay. Okay. Just like when we did the Pukin' the Cool thing, I mean, I'm, I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. All right. I don't think this is so much money that AJ couldn't be here with Hollywood Brown. Like it's, it's one of those deals where you, it's what, to me, here, this is in the eye of the beholder, right? Yeah. How you want to see how you want to say it's not a $40 million deal, which would be obviously his head start. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But it's also not a one year veteran minimum. It's also not nothing. And, and I just wonder, like the Eagles really haven't paid the third receiver here. They haven't, right? They traded for Dotson on his rookie deal. They had, who was it the year? I'm trying to remember the year before, before Dotson got here, who's a third receiver? Who's ques back the year they got to the Super Bowl? They also had Zach Paskel for one of those years. They had a Lama-Day Sikias, right? They really haven't got a real veteran that had done something in the NFL receiver to be their third guy. So this is a departure from that, even if AJ is going to be here. You know, I also think it gives them a little cover. Let's say they do trade AJ. Now they could go into the draft and say, okay, we could draft a rookie. But if he's not ready to go week one or two, we got somebody. I'll leave it brown and start a lot of games. Yeah. Yeah, we got somebody. I mean, it makes sense. And I know exactly, I feel, I pick up what you're putting down, no question about it. But for me, I'm so dug in, I'm so entrenched on this story, until it happens, I'm not going to, I'm not going to believe it. I think he's going to be here. I really do. Yeah. So the, well, we'll get the final reporting on what his contractors, but the way you framed
it as incentive later, and I wonder if that would be, if he starts, right, if he's, if he's playing a lot of snaps, that means AJ's probably gone, and then he could make up to $10 million, which isn't nothing for a starting receiver in the NFL. So Hollywood Brown heading to the Eagles on a one year deal. You can react that with us. 215, 592, 94, 94. He has started 72 games in the NFL. The last couple of years, he's played less that he did play in 16 games last year for the Chiefs, but he was kind of down on the depth chart because they had, where she rice coming back, they had Xavier worthy coming into a second year in the NFL. But him is the guy that started 11, 16, 16, 12, 14. He's been for a lot of years in his career, a productive NFL wide receiver. He'll play this year at 29 years old. So Hollywood Brown to the Eagles, and I think it's how he given himself some cover, no matter what he does here. He's either got a accomplished third wide receiver, or he's got some cover if he trades AJ, and this guy could play a little bit next to maybe a guy they draft in the first or second or whatever round of the draft. All right, let's go to the guest line here, joined by Devon Caini as we are every week.
We just saw Devon, of course, at the first ever WIP press conference, and it was interesting when we took, we had our takeaways in the press conference, it was a bit of a bully. You called Devon a bully, which I mean, she's a nice bully, but her response to what you said there. I thought she conductors self professionally, like the other reporters, they're like Dan Buzz Wilson and Dave Uram and Elie, it's your part. Maybe you were just out of your element. I definitely was out there. He was a fish out of water, not me, but it was a little, it was a little, I was taking a back a little bit because she kind of, she kind of hit me with the elbow. A little disappointed in your question, too, by the way. Is that right? Yeah. I thought it was a great question. You got a long way to go to be a reporter. Just let me just let you know. Let's go to Devon, who's up with us here on WIP. Devon, how are you doing? I mean, I was doing pretty well, guys, but I didn't know that I came off as a bully. That's very hurtful coming from you. Look, I just try to get the truth, okay? If I was a bully, then what was, you know, Elliot and Dave Uram in there, okay? I was in there with a bunch of sharks, it was, it was, it was, it was a feeding frizzy. It was a little bit of a freeing frizzy, but, but here's the thing.
I was a little taking a back because, me and Devon are cool, then she kind of, you know, she kind of hit me with the elbow a little bit, and I was like, dang, I guess I was talking for friends. I was out of my element a little bit. Cute. It's all love between us, okay? I would never intentionally, you know, it was, I was a little intimidated, and when the press conference started, I saw how you guys are operating, and I, you know, it was like double dutch, I was just afraid to jump in, it was, it was a little intimidating. Yeah, but you worked up the courage, and you got your question in, and it was good question. He did work up courage. Devon, I could see in his eyes, I was waiting to see the courage to call on him. All right, Devon, what were your takeaways from the press conference as we get ready for tomorrow night? Yeah, I mean, I, I love the energy from Joe to camera, I have to say, um, I, I wanted to see a little bit more from Jack Fritz, I'm not loving the kind of defeatist attitude from him. I feel like he's almost setting himself up to either, it can go either like one of two ways.
He can shock everyone, and beat Joe, and come out, you know, and play really well tomorrow, or he can not play well and lose, and then he can pull the, you know, why I didn't even care anyways card, and that's just, you know, that's not fun for anyone. So I hope we see maximum effort from Jack out there tomorrow, I feel like he's just ready to get it over with. So hopefully when he gets out there on the court, he can leave it all out there on the court. Yeah, I felt that similarly. And Joe did have a lot of energy and, and Joe, that Devon, I'm, I'm trying to figure out is Joe's confidence, uh, just like he's drawn, he's drumming it up for himself, or to see really feel like he's going to win. Now you're with him a few days a week and, and you kind of feel it in the studio. What, where do you think Joe is right now? He certainly came off very confident in the press conference. It's always hard to say with Joe to camera, but having, you know, witnessed him win for the most part, uh, is always joyous when he loses, but when beat the hammer, uh, for several years now, once a week, I, I can tell you with confidence that he genuinely believes in
his own greatness, you know, and I know that this isn't sports trivia, um, but Joe is a lot of confidence and it comes from some layer and you kind of have to applaud it because he did not stand down when it comes to that. Um, I, I just hope that Jack is, is ready to fire back if Joe tries to, you know, start some trash talk out on the court tomorrow, um, because Joe's going to come for Jack. He's going to, he's not going to hold back and Jack needs to be prepared for that. Well, he does. Devon Cainey with us here as she is every week. All right, Devon, let's sit a couple of, uh, so hot button topics here as we, uh, we go through the sports world with the Phillies a week away from opening day. And of course, the Eagles here, let's start with the Bryce Harper thing. Devon, what are you noticing when you watch them in the world baseball classic? And if you were marked a Rosa, would you drop Bryce in the lineup tonight? I think we all realize he's going to start and he should start tonight at first base for the American team, but he's been hitting second. And he's not hitting right now. They have a lineup full of stars. Would you drop him down the lineup? Um, I mean, I, in a normal situation, yes.
Like if this was the Phillies regular season in a couple of weeks from now, I'm not talking obviously opening days, you know, just over a week from now. But, you know, we've been in the season and he's not hitting well. Then yes, I think it's a serious topic. But I think in the world baseball classic, just because tonight is the final game, I don't know if it's going to be worthwhile to do that. That being said, I wasn't surprised when I heard that reported. I first heard it reported during the last game broadcast when Team USA was playing Dominican Republic. And it wasn't surprising to me. I was actually surprised it took them this long to say that they were considering it, because he hadn't been hitting very well. And that being said, right after they reported that, I think Bryce hit like an RBI single. So he did still produce. He's just, you know, not not hitting home runs. And unfortunately, I think that that's an issue with him. He's still swinging for the fences. And that's what concerns me most. He's still pressing and he's chasing a lot. He has the same exact chase rate through.
I know it's a very small sample size, but through these world baseball classic games, that he had by the end of the season last year. And that gives me pause just because it makes me wonder like, maybe it would have been best for Bryce Harper to hang back at spring training and work on his swing. You know, you look at a guy like Bryce and Scott hitting 400 batting average through spring training, and he's really improved. And he's probably going to continue the success that he found towards the end of last season by working with Kevin Long and the Phillies coaches. So maybe it means it's going to be a slow start for Bryce Harper, but it is still a small sample size. So there's only so much we can take away. Now, that being said, you can also take away the good, right? Like Aaron Nola. I think he showed a lot of promise, even Brad Keller in his few addings. You know, he showed some promise. Kyle Schwarber has been playing really well. So they're still still good to take away from it. Yeah, it's one of those like it's in the eye of the beholder, the how you want to see it, the good, the not so good, and how much it all means. Devon, we do have some news that surrounds the Eagles.
At least it could, you know, I could impact things. Number one, Jalen Waddle was traded to the Broncos this morning for a first round pick. And more. And then we also had just a few minutes ago, Hollywood Brown moving to the Philadelphia Eagles on a one year deal. So you hung up on Devon by the way. Did I? Yeah. Oh, no. I didn't touch anything. Go to the view. I'm going to hold my dreams in humanoid, what am I? I feel like I'm holding papers here and not the click in the butt if it was me. I apologize. So we'll get Devon back up there. But the Hollywood Brown thing here that just broke a few minutes ago, it's certainly adds to the intrigue of what's going to happen now with the AJ Brown thing. And where we go from here. But it's not, I mean, I'm not surprised. They landed a veteran wide receiver here. They this morning, we saw an ESPN there talking about over the weekend, how he was trying to get a veteran wide receiver. This seems like this was part of their plant at something else to that room. Yeah, you needed some because it was like, it was like, and I'm still out of mind said that AJ is going to be here because you haven't done enough. Unless you're going to go on the draft and try to get one of these young receivers or both. Yeah, both. Yeah. Yeah, it could be that because I just feel like when you talk about the guys that you've lost
and potentially losing AJ, you're going to need to go out and get in my mind at least two to three receivers. All right. Let's go back to Devon Caini, who I may have hung up on. Devon, I apologize for hanging up. I was asking you about the moves the last couple, last hour. So, Jalen Waddle to the Broncos for a first round pick. And then the Eagles signing, Holly would brown. You're thought on how this impacts the AJ situation. Yeah, so the first of all, the Jalen Waddle situation is interesting to me because, you know, they traded a first and albeit, you know, the back of the first round. But still, that just proves, you know, for a player like Jalen Waddle, who isn't nearly as productive as AJ Brown. And doesn't have as much potential in my opinion, I think probably most people's opinions. I mean, that's still a pretty hefty price. So, I think that just, you know, confirms what a lot of us already knew and believed. And that's that if you're going to trade AJ Brown, you need, you know, probably a pretty decent first round pick if that, or something, you know, equal caliber, if it's an active player,
or whatever it may be. With Holly Waddle, I mean, this is just a classic Howie Roseman move. Because he, you know, we like to use that phrase of the Eagles don't do the middle class, right? Like they either go all out and do these massive, you know, expensive deals for the star players, or they do these kind of one-year budget-friendly deals. And that's what this is, $10 million. He's only dropped two passes on 100 targets. You know, we had a really good season while he's not a wide out one. I think that he can certainly contribute. I don't necessarily think that this signal that AJ Brown is definitely gone. I feel like that's going to be the immediate takeaway. Because he's still a pretty thin at that position. You know, you have Devonte Smith. And I think Devonte is one of the most, if not the most underrated wide outs in the league. That being said, his build concerns me if he were to become, you know, the top guy and get most of the targets. I still am in and he, I don't know if you've changed at all,
but I'm still on AJ Island in believing that you're going to be on the eagles. Come training. Yeah, I'm still there with his newest signing. AJ Island, population two, Devon and Hugh Douglas. Come on over. It's one here. There's not a whole lot going on, but yes, it's in this one. Is AJ on the island with you guys? It is AJ Island. Yeah, I mean, I haven't seen him if he's there. I mean, he's invited, but yeah. All right, Devon, before we hang it out now. Yeah, but before we let you go, speaking of Hugh Douglas here, we do have the bracket of Hughes, which will be up online soon for everyone to download and print and fill out. It's a big week for March Madness, but here it's specifically the Hugh Douglas's. We have 64 of them. Devon, do you have a favorite Hugh Douglas over the last year that you might be, you know, moving quickly through your bracket? So I, is this it? I don't even know if this counts as a Hugh because I've listened to you. I listened to your show all the time and I honestly can't fully keep track of the different Hughs in this bracket. So probably as one. The recklessly speculating Hugh in that one.
Number one, it's a number one seed. It's I think it might win the whole thing. Yeah, he's been on a terror lady. That guy's been on a terror. Yeah, it's he's one of the best shoes we've had over the last year. I mean, he really sold me back during the football season when he, he proposed a recklessly speculating story where someone was slapped in the Eagle's block. Yes, that was Petulo. Yeah. You guys laughed at the cost of that. Yeah, on her slaps, Kevin Petulo and took over play calling. Yeah, that's that's our reporter, Hugh Douglas. Devon, we appreciate hopping on and we will talk to you soon. Yep, talk to you later. There she goes. Devon, Kenny, who I hung up on, so that's on me. And, well, I don't know if I did. Well, I mean, are you sure? I mean, I know it. I usually get blank again. Yeah, I haven't talked about that. I guess, yeah, it doesn't matter now, but I was holding papers. I don't know how I would have gotten to the mouse. The evidence against you at the time. Yeah. Okay. I was sitting here wondering why, like, you know, like, when I'm, since I've been 3D print lately, like some of the prints come out different.
And I was just, you know, I was kind of reading that it all depends on the, the airflow in the, in the house and, you know, how much air is actually on the printer. It could change the way that thing print, like cools and everything. Air flow in the house affects the printing? I never heard of that. What is the whole thing up on Devon? Yeah, no, I'm saying because it could, it could change, like, you could have an identical 3D print, but it'll change it a little bit because of how it cools. Right. If the bed isn't level correctly or stuff like that. So yeah, I'm just learning, you know, I'm just trying to learn about this 3D print. Uh-huh, but again, I gotta, I gotta ask. What the heck was that? What does that have to do with? No, I'm saying because I'm, I didn't, I didn't hang up on it. That's what I was saying. Oh, because you're a 3D printer. No, because I was, I was thinking, I was not even looking at the thing. I was thinking about 3D print. Right, okay. So your mind was elsewhere. Yeah, I went, I went thinking about it. I don't know, I don't know if that would have held up in court. It would have held up in court. I was like, you know what, I was just telling you, that was a filibuster. It was a filibuster. I can, I can translate this, this Hugh Douglas. This is his way of saying, I wasn't really paying attention to what I was saying. I was, I was thinking about you all.
Kinda like to open the other day. And try to recalibrate what their offensive, what their quarterback is. And, and who are the young players are going to pay for the future? Here, it doesn't feel like an all-in-season to me that the Eagles are setting up. And it feels to me like we're in its transition. Where do you come down on what they've done? And, and kind of what they're telling us. Huh? See, the way you cut that makes it sound so bad. What? That was, it was not that, it was not like that. I did not, the first one. You did. No, well, I cut it so that it stopped after you said, huh? But that pauses in between Joe and you say, That was all over your heart. That was all up then. No, because, and you know why I paused. That's why you're over there laughing. You knew why, you know why I paused. I don't, I don't know. Well, you didn't want to give it take. We all know what that is. No, I didn't want to give it take. I just, like, I was taken aback. Nothing happened. But I saw things. So, yeah, we can all translate you at this point. And what I heard there was, I checked out, and I was, I was thinking about 3D printing. I wasn't hanging up on that. No, I was trying to figure out what I'm a 3D print next one. Yeah. I can check out the office. Next time we use a hang up on it.
You should just be like, huh? I just didn't, I just didn't, I didn't hang up on it. No, I hung up on a few other people. Well, we shoot with that now. Yeah, I'm going to take us a few months to get there. Bob is up on WIP. Hey, Bob. Hey, guys, how you doing? Good, Bob. What's up? I'm not trying to flex that I've filled out a lineup card before, but I have filled out a lineup card or two in my life. Okay. And I am never cool with moving kids, high school kids, specifically for me, up and down in the lineup, just on a whim. I think a lot of communication goes in before that happens because their minds just aren't ready for it. And I think where Bryce is mentally with already it, with what's gone on and that really at the end of the day, do you care more about the Phillies doing well or team USA doing well? Well, I don't think they're two separate things. I mean, like, I want to win tonight and I don't think if Bryce hits sixth, seventh or second, it's going to change the Phillies season any appreciable way.
So you don't think that's going to turn a lot of these little kind of Bryce being a little bit of a baby about some things. You don't think that this is going to exacerbate that situation and make Bryce be even more of a pain in the butt, leaving it to a season that kind of is a make or break season for everybody involved. I think it's a fair thought. But if Bryce Harper can't handle being dropped in a lineup of some of the best players in the world tonight, and he takes that with him 10 days from now into the Phillies' regular season, then that's a bigger issue than Mark DeRose's lineup card. What do we do? I mean, come on. I mean, Bob, what do we do? He's a professional. Like, what is he going to do? He's going to soak here in April because Mark DeRose wrote him into sixth instead of second. But he wore not a lead shirt. It's not like he's not capable of soaking. But you're right about that. The general manager of the Phillies, not Mark DeRose. Right. I don't know. It just might do sense. I don't think moving the lineup. Yeah, sure. They could win 12, 2 tonight by moving Harper to sixth.
But I just don't think in a one game situation. And I think at some point, Harper has earned that right, and that if he doesn't hit well, it's on him. I just don't know moving the lineup around is going to do much good. It's like I said, if they could lose 12, 2, or win 12, 2. And I don't think it's going to matter much of what that to sit. I don't think it'll be about that decision. It probably won't be. I just think of it. Bob, it's a good phone call. I just think of it like this. If it's a close game, and when we had Don Maloney on here at Spring Training, we were talking with the lineup, right? And how, and he framed it in an interesting way, in that it's not so much the order in the first setting. It's like when the turn's over again. Because we asked him about that. He'll talk, yeah, how do you, how do you prepare it then? Right, one extra at bat. So let's just, let's play it out tonight, right? Let's say it's a tie, they're down one run, four to three in the ninth inning. And that top of the lineup's coming up one more time, right? Because it turned over one last time. Right now, would you rather, you know, I don't know, Gunner Henderson or Roman Anthony, who thought those two guys at the home run the other night? Would you rather them get one more at bat or Bryce?
So it's like, I understand probably it won't make a difference what the order is. It's just, what team plays better. But it could come down to, Bryce is up, and the game's on the line. And right now, he's not hitting well. You know, you know, it's funny. And you just made me think about what, what Topper always says. He believe, you know, he believes that the player is more who he is on the back of his baseball card than what he's doing right now. So it might be a situation where you want to leave Harper right there because the game might find it. You know how we always talk about the game finding and people in, in, in, in opportune moments. Yeah, maybe in this moment, you know, Harper have a big, a big ending in here, you know, knocking out the yard. He might, well, that would make us feel better. Well, I think we used to use that phrase. The game will find him about Johan Rohan. Yeah, yeah, we did. But I was trying to spin it in a positive way. The game will not find him for 80 of those games. Not, not this officially suspended. Not the playoffs either. No, what a shame. It's unfortunate. What a joke that was. All right, two one five five nine two ninety four nine. We'll get your phone calls on the other side. A lot for you to get on. How much you think the WBC matters here in terms of how they're playing? No, the good price. Not so good. Have we overrated AJ Brown?
I think we clearly have over the past couple of months here in Philadelphia. The Eagles just signed Hollywood Brown a few minutes ago, which is an interesting, not surprising at all. I mean, there was a report yesterday on ESPN that how he was after veteran wide receiver. But it adds a different layer now to the AJ conversation. I think the Eagles are building this thing ready to trade AJ at a moment's notice. The, the Goddard situation is taking care of. They have the cap room. They have another veteran wide receiver. They could play to pair with a rookie. I think how he has set it up where he's ready for AJ trade. All right, the latest on all this, plus how the jail and water trade earlier affects the AJ market. Two one five five nine two ninety four nine for some in-date show sports radio. Ninety four WIP is on me. Yes. Yeah, why not? Listen, when it comes to snacks, Tasty Cake does not miss this spring. You know, Julia, you guys put us 2-1-5, 5-9-2, 94-94. All right, coming up, we got a lot to get to. Daily mock at one o'clock. Our first one, I'm really excited. I love the Daily mock at one o'clock. We'll be doing it every day, moving forward to the NFL draft.
We'll start today with the newest from Mel Kuiper and react to who he has mocked to the Eagles at number 23. That's coming up. We also have to dive into, really, I took a deep dive on the bracket of Hugh's last night. I was really, I was diving into who the favorite should be. They kind of put in the odds there. And who I think the Cinderella's are going to be. So we'll get to that coming up a little bit. But we know today some big moves in the wide receiver market in the NFL change it thinks. And maybe change in the AJ market here. So first, we know the Eagles just a few minutes ago signed Hollywood Brown veteran. Ben and League, I think it's 2019, when he was drafted by the Ravens, then to the Cardinals, then to the Chiefs. He has. And he started a lot of games. And now he is here on a one-year deal. So that adds to the intrigue of what that means about the AJ situation, if anything at all. But earlier today, Jalen Waddle traded from the Miami dolphins to the Denver Broncos for a first round pick, which obviously impacts the AJ market. Let's listen to Brian Baldwin or recently talking about, well, he was really talking about Dallas-Gauder, but they kind of jumped into the idea of maybe the Broncos for AJ.
This was before the Waddle thing, but kind of shows you maybe that team that's an interest here. But for the most part, when he's healthy, he's a good player. And he'd be a guy that I'd be interested in. I'd be interested to see if the price drops in AJ Brown, if that's still a possibility. I know that there's interest there on both sides. Maybe Tepid, but some interest, at least enough to acquire to what the asking price is. How he roseman hasn't really budged off for what he wants. But maybe as time goes on here through the day, maybe there's a renewed interest in that. All right, so that was before the Waddle trade. So now you have to imagine the Broncos are out. He said there was some interest on both sides, which is interesting because we're trying to figure out which teams are actually going to be involved in this AJ thing. The Rams popped up last week, the Patriots the whole time, not much more out there. Here, let me ask you it this way. Today, let's use the Jell and Waddle thing. Jell and Waddle first round pick. Did the AJ price go up today or down? Do you think we're going to get more for AJ or less? I think it stayed the same.
Okay, I think it stayed, he stayed in Pat. It's crazy because when I think about somebody, and body, body's done a lot of work. They all do it. I'm not taking any shots in anybody. But I always feel like when these stories are talked about, it's like, hey, so what's up with someone? So I was like, yeah, you know, he's here. How much are you looking for it? You know, the first round Jell pick. Oh, all right, I feel like that's how they go. You know what I mean? I don't feel like that, not saying that that's interest. Like, no question about it, that's interest. I just feel like right now in this market, and when you talk about the receivers that have been moving around thus far, that if somebody was really hot and heavy on AJ, or they felt like they wanted him on their squad, this would have been done, especially when you talk about where the Patriots are, or where the Patriots want to be. You know, so I don't know. I just feel like with the way that the Eagles are handling this, that a lot of teams feel like they know that they really don't want to get rid of.
I see, I view with the opposite. I think everyone knows the Eagles are going to get rid of AJ. And that's why I don't think the offers are coming in. I actually think how he's doing the best he can, but this might not be as easy of a market as we thought it would be. It feels limited. That feels real, but there's not 10 teams out there bidding on AJ. AJ limited it. Well, that, and that's, well, you know, we've heard different, I guess, it was rap sheet and garafol over the past couple of weeks. Alludes of the idea of he would be more willing to go to other teams, which means I'm going to interpret that as he's given them a list of teams he wants to go to. Well, that's not great. Well, the one thing we played from rap, what was him saying, you know, now it's a matter of will AJ expand the amount of teams that he's interested in playing for? Why is he in charge of this? Well, he's why we're here right now. Well, I know, but he doesn't have a no-trade clause. No, he does, he's not like he has no years left on his contract, where he could just hold out for his new team and he could maybe do that anyway. But it's not like he's coming on the last year of his deal, where it's like, okay, you have to give him a new deal. I don't know. It's annoying. It is very annoying, but it's like a unique case where
he wants out. We don't really feel the need that we have, like feel that it's necessary to get him out, but he wants something very specific. We just want a super bowl. Yeah. And he wants out of this situation. Like, when does that ever happen? I'm not off it. So that's why I feel like it's so weird. It's like, it's so unique. You know why? You know why, as unique, allow me to recklessly speculate for a minute. It's because he respects him, like how he respects AJ. He respects him so much that he doesn't want to send him to just anybody, if he wants to leave. I mean, because to your point, I mean, why go through all these hoops to try to accommodate somebody that we all as fans view as a marketing or a bad seed? I look at it more from the other team's perspective, though. Like, well, if he wasn't happy on a team that he just won the Super Bowl in being the number one option, he's sure as hell not going to be happy on my browns or my Raiders.
So I'm not even putting myself in the mix. Yeah, you cut your, I mean, that cuts off the market. I mean, how he doesn't have a big market here. That's why I think to an extent we're overrating what we have here. He's still a good player, sure. But nobody's knocking the door down. I mean, the Broncos just treated a first round. You heard Baldy there saying the Broncos had some level interest in AJ. They decided today a first-round pick for a guy who has not been as good in the NFL as AJ. Yeah, that's telling, though, Joe, because if, and I know some people might feel this way, especially when you talk about where they are, and they're picking behind us, but it's still the first round draft. Of course it is. You know what I mean? And if you're getting that for a receiver, that's pretty good. I think that when you talk about AJ and what you want from him, it's a little bit higher up in the draft order than the 30th pick. Yeah, I think the price went up. I don't think it did. Yeah, I don't think it did. It should, based on the two players, but we're losing teams. Like, there's only 32 teams.
And that never changed. I don't know how serious. I know Baldy said it was tepid. I'm sure they checked in. Right. I think there's a very short list of teams. And I think it's been that way for a little while. So like, if it were any other GM, I might normally agree with you. But what this does is give Howie something to like, it's like, look what I'll just went for. Howie's not like, how he's going to drive a hard bargain because he can. He's Howie. Well, he can and he will. And maybe, you know, if people bring up the Bradford thing a lot, that required a very unique circumstance for the Bradford thing to work. I mean, we were about to, I think we have a little revision of sister in 2016. Like it was a grand plan. It wasn't a grand plan. They got lucky. I mean, I think we were going into that season with Bradford as the starter and probably halfway through whence would have just taken the job from him. And we would just have this expensive backup. Teddy Bridgewater ripped his knee up and practiced. It just, it was just a perfect stall. It was. And they got a first round pick is the Vikings were desperate to not have their season ruin. So we may take the AJ thing into the summer.
And it's weird to say hope because you don't hope a player ever gets hurt. But like, we may hope a team is desperate for a wide receiver. And then you go out and get one. Maybe, I mean, sure. And maybe it works out like that and how it looks like a genius again. I'm just saying the market does not seem big right now. No. And I don't know where it goes. And then the brown thing, the Hollywood brown thing, if you just hopped in, Hollywood brown sign with the Eagles, one year, six and a half million dollars, Elliott put up a post about the money. And in Elliott's perspective, it is a lot, it's a lot for the Eagles to spend on a third receiver. They don't usually do that. Think about the third receivers they've had here in the last five or six years. It has been Quest Walkins on a rookie deal. Jalen Rager on a rookie deal. It has been Alameda Zacchaeus. It has been Jalen Ray, not Jalen Rager. Who's the guy who he just had? Johan Dazson on a rookie deal. They haven't paid veteran money to a third receiver in the entire Hertz era. Yeah. Well, if they go into this season with Devonte is the one in Hollywood brown as a number two, everybody should be pissed off at AJ. They should be. But that they could also pair it with the first round pick. Oh, right.
But that's that's my thing. Like if it's a first-round pick wide receiver in Hollywood is the number three, maybe like that's a little bit different. But if AJ leaves us in a situation with Devonte one, Hollywood brown two, then then I am pissed off at AJ. And you should or Coach Marion reckless, speculate a third target. Maybe he wants a third, third receiver for his office that he's going to run. It's a lot of money for a third receiver. I'm just saying that's what he wants. I mean, but you know, you talking about giving him carte blanche. Maybe that's what he wants for his office. I mean, maybe. I mean, but you know, the other thing is Jalen doesn't throw to the third receiver. They just they don't do it. Well, Jalen didn't use to throw to the third receiver. Oh, now it's going to change. No, like because to be fair to this situation, this is all new. It is. And this is all new. And we are all recklessly speculating in some way shaped form of fashion about this. So maybe it's he say, hey, you know what? In my office, I have a lot of three receiver sets. You know, maybe I want to want to run run more three. So you know, maybe is that I don't know.
Yeah, things recklessly things could be different. Sure. But like, I don't know how many years do we go in saying like, oh, well, you know, now all of a sudden, we're going to start throwing the ball to our backs. Or we're going to start doing this. We're going to start doing that. We just never know. It's it's a new offense and in hopes, bringing time. Yeah. Right. It could be different. I'm just saying I wouldn't get my hopes up. I think it's the quarterback. I think, I think honestly, I think that's where we are recklessly speculating. That's the fourth one in this. No, that's it. We're recklessly speculating because I feel like, like think about it like this, guys. When you talk about the type of money that Jaylin's going to ask for. Jaylin hurts. So before you, before you get all up in your feelings, cannot be allowed. Before you jump up. But before, like, because like I told you before, like think, walk with me people before you get in your feelings. You know, you should have said that first. If you said that first, I would walk walk with me people. I would have walked. Think about the position that Jaylin's in.
He's had a lot of success. Jaylin's going into his, what, seventh season? Yes. In the NFL. And this is, and this is the natural progression of the NFL, especially when you talk about last year. And one of the first things that jumped out to us at the beginning of the season is like, damn, everybody throwing the ball all over school, y'all. Gun South has been a podcast about crime in the American South. But for our new season, we're widening the lens. Follow and listen to Gun South season five. Wherever you get your shows, all right. Not us. But I didn't, everybody's throwing the ball all over the school yard. So now, in order for us to be progressive, we have to follow the trend. And the trend last year, whether you want to believe it or not, because we were the first game. Now think about it like this, folks. We're the first game of the season. And we saw what our game looked like. But every other game during the weekend, we saw the ball was being thrown all over the place. So maybe we're going into this season, trying to be more like some of those other
offenses and get the receivers more ball. We still have a strong running game. I'm not saying that we're going to move away from the running game. But think about it from that aspect, that we're going to be more of a potent pass attack. Because I still believe if I'm going into the season, playing against the Philadelphia Eagles. And until I see it, I'm not playing the pass. I'm protecting the, I'm protecting myself against the run. So maybe that's why he's here. You know, maybe that's why they decided to go out and get Hollywood, Brian. I got to tell you that's why Spin Dr. Douglas is a number two seed. It's just tried to frame it in the way it is. Well, so I hear you spin. But let me ask you this. I think I think there's probably a lot of merit to what you're saying. But why they spend six and a half million on that just draft a young receiver. Because if they keep AJ, any drafted receiver is either going to be the third, and you're going to have six and a half million in the fourth receiver. Or he's not going to play the new receiver your draft. You know what I mean? Like this almost, I know Hollywood Brown is not not close to the level of AJ Brown.
We all know that. But I don't see how Hollywood Brown fits with AJ. It feels like that's a lot. I'm looking at the numbers of the third receiver in the last five years here. Here's what they've done. 33 catches 299 yards, 33 for 354. That was in 2021, 2022. Here's the last three years. The third receiver. It was ques. Then last couple of years, it was Dotson. 15 catches for 142 yards for ques and 23 19 for 216 dots in 2024. Last year, Jahan Dotson at 18 catches. And again, that's not worth a six and a half million dollars. And again, those are the antiquated numbers from my office. That was anemic. Same. Well, I mean, same quarterback. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying, Joe. I feel like they're about to expand his repertoire. You have to, you can't be like, this is the reality of the situation. Jalen's due for a pay raise. Before you say anything, Jalen is due for a pay raise. Jalen's due for a pay raise. No. So in order to validate Jalen's pay raise,
he has to do more in the office. Sure, but that's why I think we're going. I hear you. I just think they're covering themselves for the AJ trade. They got a veteran in here now that if they have to play early in the season, because the first round of second round pick isn't ready to go. I know Kyle would be annoyed, but they could look at us with a straight face and say, we're going to start Hollywood Brown for a few weeks. It's not that crazy. He started like 70 games in the NFL. That's the way I view the Hollywood Brown sign. Like he's covering them just in case the receiver they take early isn't ready to go. I hear you, but I feel like it's more of they want to expand the quarterback's repertoire and they want him to throw the ball more. But do you want that? Yes. I don't want that at all. Yes. I want to throw the ball less. See, if you're talking about giving Jalen Hertz the 70 million out of pay raise, but I'm not. Yeah, we're just not doing it. We're not doing it. Okay. If we're talking about giving Jalen Hertz a 70 million out of pay raise, we're talking about that. See, you know, I think you're the only one that thinks it's going to happen.
I'm not walking with it. No, no, you guys, you know what I'm fine with. You know, far away we are for 70 million for Hertz. Childish. He has to play at an MVP level next year for that. If we Jalen Hertz, like I said, I ain't even pay. Jalen Hertz is in position to get a pay raise. In order for him to get that, he's going to have to throw the ball more. Do you think he's going to play at an MVP level next year? Yes. Okay, then, then we'll have that discussion. But I think he needs seven MVP level seasons to even come close to that one. That's why you need another receipt before he doesn't have that. I mean, really, we needed Hollywood Brown to get Jalen to an MVP level. Hollywood Brown. I'm just saying. I think it's another. Dylan was last year. Yes. Another. Jalen. Y'all, y'all, wow. Just another option for the quarterback. I do appreciate the commitment that Hugh Douglas has to not see this through the A.J. Lens is remarkable. You see it just, I see it. I see it because the more, like we've always said, the more weapons, the better. Right. We've always said. But how come now is the time to spend on a third receiver? I think because what they envision the office to be recklessly speculating
that they would like to have a rest of a veteran receiver out there. When I watched the Packers, they had a lot of two tight ends. They rotated their receivers. Yeah, they do. And we've covered that. We have three tight ends. We've covered that one as well. We've covered that. We've covered that as well. But every two tight ends, that means Hollywood Brown would have six and a half million dollars in his pockets on the bench. You can't play three tight ends. Two tight ends and three receivers. You can take the receipt. You can take the running back out. Take, take. Stay quiet. I know that sound. I'll take the take. Stay quiet for a few. No, no. When I have to get Hollywood Brown left it. No. When I said it, I thought, that's how you do it. You don't want if you're doing it. Okay, but okay, we're not going to tight end resets ago. We're not going to tight end sets now. But that's what Manion does. No, we ain't going to do that with this. Okay. So you think, all right, so you Douglas thinks Hollywood Brown is here for Jalen. I think it's here to prepare for the H.H. Right. I mean, that's what I'm going to think that until it happens. But I will, I will concede this. Since I've just workshopped it in my head. Can you see them greasing the stairs for this? It's not so good to hop. Can you know? No, no, no. So, I go. Since I just workshopped it in my head.
Because I can see why you feel the way that you do it. Okay. Since I'm on here on A.J. Island, I am going to stay until he's gone. Do you guys have any food on A.J. Island? This is my last little June. Well, Devon, you know, she's petite. So she don't eat a whole lot. So you can eat whatever food you have. Yeah, I'm good. Poor Devon. All right, let's go to Mike, who's up on WFT. Hey, Mike. Hey, how you doing, guys? Good. I want to give a compliment to you and follow this. So what does you have in common with Steve Carlton with Alan Iverson with Eric Lendrose? And if you if you figure out what I'm saying, these guys in the business world are called hunters. And at A.J. Brown. Now, hunters and farmers exist in the business world. Both are real titles. Neither one is disrespectful to the other. But hunters are the outliers that speak up, that cause trouble, that overachieve. Farmers are the ones that manage finance, stay calm.
They're more clear headed. But in the time of war and battle, you need to hunters. In the time of negotiations, you need to farmers. You see what people like me say, hunters, we see the talent in A.J. Brown. And the first thing we say is, do we want to play against A.J. Brown? Absolutely not. In the right offensive sit scheme, where people recognize his Hall of Fame talent, he will blow his numbers away. And in fairness to A.J., when you look at the national media about the NFL, when they look at A.J., you know what they got? Oh, yeah, his numbers are down, his numbers are down. Nobody looks at the amount of times he's thrown the ball is the open. It's the offensive line through in the job. He gives down the time to get in the ball. If we trade him, watch my words. Okay. Biggest mistake ever. Oh, stop. Just like. All right, come on. Biggest mistake ever. They let Reggie White walk away from this franchise at one point.
Biggest, I mean, come on, like, I know he's a good player, but now we're getting to a ridiculous point. Biggest mistake ever. He's a wide receiver. But he's got the talent. Oh, my God. He quit on last season. You got to be kidding that this is the biggest mistake. Doesn't it bother you that he quit in the playoff game? No. Okay, I think it's hard for a player. Oh, my God. I think it's hard for a player of his talent to stay motivated when they're not going to win. I never thought anyone could apologize more for A.J. Brown than Hugh Douglas on WIP lately. And then I heard you say that it doesn't bother you. He quit in a playoff game because he couldn't stay motivated. It's difficult. I mean, it is. It is. This is ridiculous. I don't believe that he quit. I believe he got talent. Well, then, you know what, then Mike, I think you, I think everyone out, if you don't believe he quit, then you, you are lying to yourself because he, then he doesn't run fast anymore. Either he's, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Time out, time out. It's got to be one of two things. He either gave half-ass effort or he's half-speed now. And neither are good.
But you can't tell me you watched that game and he looked the way he typically used to look. So you could choose which one you sleep better at night feeling. But either he half-ass the game or he doesn't run as fast as he used to. Which one is it? I believe it's the fact that he's just not getting used to proper way. But what does that mean? He's a wide receiver. He, you run. Get open. Catch the ball. The offense of coordinator and it starts with a coach that takes responsibility for the offense and not just when they're winning. Okay, not just when they're winning. All right, last comment. Last comment about how mistakes are big. So it switched teams quickly. The last time, John McClare scored 50 points was when Lindros played. They're downgrading this guy just as much as the fires down and graded Lindros because he was problematic because we couldn't recognize concussions for the time period. Okay, we're not recognizing this guy's talent. And the offense of coordinator was horrible and the head coach only wants to take responsibility
when they're winning. All right. I appreciate how much you're a fan of him. But it also is over the top to compare AJ Brown's talent to Eric Lindros. Eric Lindros, one of the most talented hockey players I've ever seen in my life. AJ is a really good receiver. But like, he's not on that. The level Eric Lindros was on. Eric Lindros was considered one of the most talented players to ever get on the ice. That was a generational time for me. That's a generational time. Now we've got it. He was about to stay on that. Also, the serionic comment was ridiculous. Only takes accountability when they're winning. I just, I, I, I'm Mike. We've preached the fight. I just see the opposite of true. I don't know what the hell that was. This is your fault. What I do. Well, you have AJ Apologists. They want to be on that. Mike, you can go to the island with Devon and Hugh. Mike's going to join the island. That was a lot. Why not have enough food? Well, you better share your food. Mike need to get a, what they call the door dash on an island tonight. What an Uber. You just know what they call it a fairy. Get a fairy. A fairy, a fairy. Uber fairy.
A Uber fairy. Hugh trying to order. You're trying to figure out the food situation. On an Uber on an island. All right, 215, 592, 94, 94. All right, your phone calls on all this stuff. The AJ thing, I think the Hollywood Brown signing is another signal. How he's just getting his ducks in a row here for whenever this AJ trade happens. Got her back so the cap stuff is good. Now they got a veteran and wide receiver in case that guy needs to play a good amount early in the season when they pair rookie with this. You're, you're take on Hollywood Brown. Plus, gentlemen, while they're going for a first drop pick, does it mean we're getting more or less for age? I don't think it changes market very much. In fact, to take someone out of the bidding for AJ Brown, did his price go up or down here? I think we're over right in AJ Brown. All right, plus the WBC. Should they drop Bryce Harper in the lineup tonight? I say they should. And on the other side, our first daily mock at 1 o'clock. We'll dive into Mel Kyver's latest. It's the midday show on Sports Radio 94 WIP. Have you ever felt like you were living just a B or B plus life? It's so dangerous to live that more dangerous
than a B minus or a C plus life because when you're living a B or B plus life, you don't change it. You think it's good enough? Is it? I'm Susie Welch. I host a podcast called Becoming You. People think, okay, an A plus life is not available to me, but there is a way. We are all in the process of becoming ourselves. Listen to Becoming You, wherever you get your podcasts.
