Easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. Love this song. Awesome. Never any easy way. Welcome back. It's awesome. You Douglas. Seriously, where do you come down? Is week one the opener? A must win for the Eagles. Obviously this. I mean, this is a clear week one must win. This song is awesome. This song is terrible. It's awesome. It's awesome. It's awesome for our show because he sings it and that's the people want. All right. We got a lot to get to. We're going to hear from Jayden Daniels. We're going to hear from the defensive coordinator here, the new one for the watch commanders coming up here in a second. He did mention off the jump today is a heavy day. And if anyone wants to share their thoughts and their feelings on 25 years, he of course has 9-11 today, 25 years ago. I know you spoke to Marcus Hayes of the Inquire. I saw the story of this morning. Marcus wrote a story about kind of the teams here, the athletes and your experience, you guys experience at that time. Doug Lamville was quoted in there. You
were quoted. And I for all of us, it's a day we'll never forget. I mean, obviously from your perspective, you're trying to prepare for a game. You know, we know the games didn't happen that week, but like, I'm sure it was a, I'm sure it was a lot just when you factor in, hey, I got to go to work and prepare for a game. But hey, there's not work this week. Yeah, it was, it was weird, man. And I try to relate at to Marcus. I remember coming across the bridge because I lived in Jersey at the time. And they didn't, I think it was the third or fourth plane. They, they didn't know where it was at. And, and you were nervous because you didn't, you didn't know what was going on. First of all. And then I remember just when we started practicing the weirdest thing ever. And I still remember there were no planes in the sky. Like that was crazy to be at, to be at the, no, overcar at the time. It was an overcar as a Jefferson, Jefferson healthcare now. But to be there at the time and the practice and no planes were in there. And then when we started flying again, every time a plane with everybody was kind of looking, you were just, you was on, you
was on pins and needles, man. It was, it was something that was surreal at the time. Yeah. I mean, it's the, the scariest day of our lives is Americans. I mean, I, so I was in high school at the time in Tom's River, New Jersey, which is probably like a little for an hour outside of, of New York City. So there were several students, no one I was close to, but several students in the school that had family that worked in, in downtown Manhattan, one that worked in the world, one of the world trade centers. So like that, there was a palpable fear in the day. I mean, luckily everyone that I was in our school there, family was okay. But it, it, it, it's a day we'll never forget. It's a day every day on this date. It just, the all those emotions come back to you. And especially today being the 25th. So, you know, obviously we, we wish our condolences everyone had lost someone. We all did as Americans and, and we honor everyone that were the heroes that day. And we'll continue to over the years to one five five nine two ninety four ninety four must win on Sunday against the commanders. It certainly is in my mind. Hugh Douglas for some reason is saying, I mean, they got to win this football game when they will will in the Northeast starts us off on WIP. Well, what's up? Oh, baby, you know, what's up? Baby, listen, I got a
story. Dream team. And I just want to, I just want to say, you know, to all of the people who gave their lives to save other people alive. God bless you and, and your family, man. Thank you for your service. Um, listen, what I saw yesterday was a lot of people gasped for air. Now you started to see what I'm talking about. You see what the San Francisco 49 is saying? They gasped the Rams, man. They was huffing and plucking and breathing. They couldn't even breathe. Well, I agree with you. I thought the Rams were out of gas in the second half of the game. I, and you know what? Maybe part of that is they don't, they don't play in the preseason. They don't put anyone in the field in the preseason. They're not ready to go. Right. But guess what? That's who that's not going to happen to us. Oh, baby, because we used to play like that. You know, I mean, come on, Kyle, you know what Tom, it is, man. It's equals hype. So come on, Billy. Let's go. You know what, Tom, and it was
funky. Have to know we're going to rock these. What you want to call the man? Come on, though. Come on. You're going to be. Yeah. You're going to be. We're going to be. We're going to be. We're going to be. Everybody's rocking. They're going to be. They're going
to be. We are fools. Please hold on. We've just let about 11,門 Kr。 It's based on trust. The best thing you can get us is that we've got to use an every worry down in a week, but we want to go to all these. You know what, Will's week one ready? One more week than he did. I'm not mad at me. Mahler or John marks. We sure. Please? in all of that. Should We want the must-win football game. Not a must-win. You know, we could get a robot in here that just says that the police chase. I like how it becomes personal. Like it always devolves into personal. Well, because it's a must-win game. It's not a must-win game. You are accepting mediocrity already. No, I'm not accepting mediocrity. Yeah, any give a Sunday. I'm about to hit you out a bunch of cliche. Oh, cool. Any give a Sunday, not this one. No, not my house. Not my house. We're the birds, you know. We must protect this house. Remember that commercial? Yeah. That thing, like 25 years old. Can we be honest with ourselves? We must protect this house. Can we be honest with that? Are we going to feel like everything's okay if they lose the game?
No, okay, then that makes it a must-win game. Okay, I did. Like we're having two different conversations here. Nope. I didn't say that we weren't going to feel some kind of way if they lose. But for the, like, I guess I'm thinking or feeling like the season's over if we lose this game. So over, over it's strong. But I believe what I said a few minutes ago, the path to getting to 11, 12 wins, I can't find the math without this win. No, I feel you on that. There's like five or six games in the schedule. Like, all right, kind of see first game at home against Washington, the Cardinals. Like those are games you just- That you should get. You just put them in the W column. And if you start taking those Ws and put them to the L column, the path to the playoffs gets harder. No, I don't want that. I get what you're saying. But you know, when Rutgers open up their season with you, Mass, and they gave them what, $1.5 million? They felt that that was a, that was a, a gimme game, right? Because you pay them. Sure. You pay $1.5 million for ass whooping, right? And all I'm saying is at any given time,
the tables can turn. That's all. Yeah. And I'm not trying to- I know you're picking them to win, but you're making me feel like you're not confident. No, no, what I'm saying, like, I am picking the Eagles of Winner. And I think they're going to win. But I don't want to, to paint myself in the corner where, I'm telling myself if they lose to the Commodores in the first game that the rest of the season is a wash. Because I don't feel like- Are you a little bit worried they might lose? No, I'm not. I'm not worried about that, but I'm also trying to be realistic about potentially it happening. Because nobody saw the beat down that we saw last night. No, I think there was definitely a path. You know, look, Channehands are great coach. And, and the, and the level, those two teams play each other close all the time. So I think you, there was a path to where it was a close game. To your point though, I agree with you. Nobody saw the night or the blow on them out. Nobody saw that coming. That was a surprise. Nobody saw Joe. And not only that, it was the physical domination. Yeah, they killed him on the ramp. They just crushed them. They physically dominated. Because you know what you're talking about? Was it the tackle trend Williams, right?
Going against Miles Garrett. He didn't get a whole lot of help. Zero pressure from Miles Garrett. He didn't get a whole lot of help. You know, it was Miles Garrett's first game since 2018. And out of single pressure. That's crazy. And now, and, and not making excuses for anybody. But like in, in, in, in granite, I don't watch a whole, I haven't been watching a whole lot of sports and I haven't been looking at the injury port or anything like that. I ain't hearing none about Miles Garrett, no injury, no need. Yeah, he didn't practice much this summer. Okay. But yeah, but it wasn't, it wasn't he didn't practice because of the, I didn't hear anything about it. Yeah, it was the knee. Okay. But I'm just saying you, when you're out there as a player, as a player of his caliber. Right. You ain't got no excuses. Oh, I know. I know. They were bad last night. And look, that was a surprise. I can't accept a surprise here. The Eagles have to win this football game. Any path to the season we want them to have includes a win over the commanders. It's a must win game. It's a must win in terms of how we feel about them this season. It's a must win. It's a must win for their year. I'm just telling you right now, the path to the playoffs without this win on Sunday is,
is tenuous. There's no easy way out. They need this game. And I expect them to get this game. Let's hear from a couple guys on the commanders as we, we welcomed in an opponent that we got to know very well two years ago. Right. Three matchups including the NXT Championship game. Let's hear the commanders fell off very fast. They stunk. Daniels got hurt and that last game, I mean, it was just, it was a waste of time that game. Can we hear Jaden Daniels Kyle on facing the Eagles here in Philadelphia? I mean, there are very sound defense. A lot of good players, a lot of respect for them and what they do. Just not on the defensive, but just as an organization as a whole, the whole team. You got to be in a game, man, because they're not, they're going to make you pay. So we got to go out there and just try to execute our game plan to the best our abilities. And you guys going to be a dog fight. If I had a list of the five. There's no short cut. There's no easy way out. Today, Joe football season is officially here. I got to tell you the more he sings and laughs, the more I think he's not confident the game was on it.
No, I am. Kyle, do you think he's confident they're going to win? I don't feel it. I am confident. He's, you're scared. He's shaking like a leaf on a tree. I'm not shaking. I am excited. The season is finally here. And we've had our first example of any given Sunday. We, well, I think it was Thursday. Okay. Well, yeah, it's a man. Yeah, though, when was that game played? Because the game was played Friday in in Australia, but it was played Thursday night here. So what do you consider yesterday? Was it Friday morning football or Thursday night football? It might be. Whatever. But you know what's funny? What you know what other thing I noticed? Where about a park outside that stadium? Because it was no parking around that public transportation. Man, that is crazy. Yeah. Mine are in Australia, have you? Mm-hmm. Don't don't look like I want to go. All right. That one like that's a long, they know body tailgating. No, I don't see any tailgating areas in there. Nice and none of that. I think that seemed pretty cool though. 100,000 people packed in in Melbourne to watch the game. Oh, I was before you started singing. I was thinking that if I don't make a list of the five wild card, like X factors of
the season, just in that cross the NFL. You know who's on that list? Who's that? Jaden Daniels. I think he is. I mean, two years ago, he has, well, that he is. I mean, as a player. So he had a- Oh, I'm kind of fine too. She's not responding to you. Right? I mean, she's- It's over. Yeah. It's over. Okay. So two years ago, he has one of the greatest rookie seasons any rookie quarterbacks ever had, right? Then last year, banged up. Didn't even play that well when he played. He'll, what kind of quarterback are we going up against on Sunday? Okay. I don't know the answer. Given the history of the Commodore's, you know, and I just had a vision in my head and you probably don't remember, then you probably won't get the correlation. But I remember when, when, when, what's the name? RG3 got hurt and they had the meme of him doing the stanky leg. Yeah. I think that they're probably going to get Jaden Daniels hurt the same kind of way. I'm not, no, no, get me wrong. I'm not wish for him to get hurt. But when you talk about that poorest offensive line and they lost what Larry Tumsle. Yes. And the fact that they couldn't protect him last year and they were making on him to
play this year. He needs to get the ball out of his hands quick. That's what I'm thinking. If we put the type of pressure on him that we can, it's going to be a long day for Jaden Day. Oh, look, I, I think they could ruin him. I mean, to, they ruined that. That's what I say when that, when the first thought was when, when they had that, when they put, you remember when they put RG3 back out there, he was hurt, they put him back out there. He got hurt even worse. Now Daniels isn't hurt to start this season. No, he's not, but he doesn't have an offensive line that, that's going to protect him. I know. I mean, look, you, you could tell me right now that look like they're not going to protect him. Right. I mean, the, well, the couple weeks ago when they were facing off against the Ravens and a joint practice, one of their reporters said that the line was inoperable. I think just couldn't block anybody. So yeah, I mean, they could ruin that kid. He looked like a star two years ago. Last year, not so much. We'll see on Sunday what he looks like, but I expect Eagles to win and it is a must-win game for them. There's no question as much as you want to pretend it's not. I mean, and it's what it says. It's pretending. It's not because you know deep down what's going to happen if they don't win this. There's fear. No, not at all.
There's excitement. Yeah, but you did. You did say realistic. You don't want to put your expectations out there because it's okay. For example, I had this a good friend of mine who made a declaration yesterday and said that the Rams were going to go on to feed. Yeah, it was a bold prediction, not a declaration. Well, a declaration. A bold prediction in a bold prediction segment. It's my story. Fistal statement coming up in 1115 on that by the way. No, I'm just saying a friend of mine. Yeah. Friend of mine. Fistal. Set out there. It said, oh, Prem's going to go 17 and oh. 20 and I'm including. Oh, my, my, my whole thing. 20 and I said that with his chest. His whole time to do with the Eagles. No, but what I'm saying is not a thing. Okay. 17 and 0 8 20 and all right. But and you said, I'm glad you said that because you said they're, their season is in the Super Bowl. Yeah, which you probably saw nothing. Changes. There. If only thing changed from that, from from that bold prediction is the fact that they're not going to go into feed it.
They can still make everything happen that they want to make. Well, so I agree with you, but they're better. They're a better roster than the Eagles. And they have more margin for error. The Eagles don't to me. No, and I understand that part. And I also acknowledge that if you lose this game, Sunday, nobody's going to be happy about it against a team that look like trash in the precinct. Look like trash in the precinct. Well, that's, I mean, that's the, I mean, it is a funny comparison, but the differences the 49ers are good. Right. The rems also a good team. The Eagles are playing a bad team of Sunday. And even with that being said, nobody, nobody, it felt like nobody felt that the 49ers really had a chance. I know some people, I know some people were talking about it. Some people picked them, you know, but, but when you talk about that all star lineup and the fact that you had the MVP and they, and listen, they were trying to throw the ball all over the, all over the place early on. They tried to establish the passing game early. It's still their workout and their favorite. It's a nod. No, I mean, look, they had a bad night. The 49ers were way better last night. 215, 592, 90 for now for David and Westchester's up on WIP.
David. What's up, there? La, la, la, Mont and Joe. David. How are you? What's up? Hi, Joe. Listen, I have a new boot of therapists and I'm going to help you out today for your charge. Okay. So what I want you to do is breathe in. Okay, go breathe in. Okay. Breathe out slowly. Okay. Okay. All right. I want you to calm yourself, young man. All right. You're being an alarmist. You're going to cause panic industries with the way you're saying this is a must win. It's just like the first game I did see that. Must win. No. No. No, it's not a must win, but they're going to win, which totally blows your entire theory out of why. No, no, no, no, no. I believe they're going to win and it is a must win game. Why would I make a game? I don't think they're going to win a must win game. That doesn't make any sense. No, no, no. You don't make any sense, and I believe they're going to win, but it's a must win. It's not. You know, it's a first game. And you hit it on the head because I had just a cow because cow's ripping apart too.
But any given Sunday, bro, any given Sunday. Anything. No, bro, come on. I just I just thought you had a breeze in and breathe out and relax. Relax, yo. I don't do any of that stuff. I just yell up on the radio. And that that's how I feel better. And this is a must win football game for the Eagles. If they're going to get to a leverage, well, yes, it is. I'll say it right now. There's no easy way. I'll tell you, it's good, you all right. It's good. There's no joker, but it's no easy way. I'm going to stand up on Don't Listen Here. But it's stand up. Take your nonsense out of your day. I'm going to get marked the only way the Eagles win the NFC East is to win this game on Sunday, the only way. I'm just telling you right now that they need all the division wins they could get. And they need I don't think we realized how the scale of easy games they have. How high this is up on the on the scale. It commanders team in week one while the Eagles are healthy at home and they don't have an offensive line. This is if you were to write down their 3045 easiest games, this is it.
They got to win this football game as much as you dug was trying to sing his way out of this one that they need to win this game. Can we hear from the new coordinator, new defensive coordinator for the commander, Geronté Jones talking about J.O. and Hertz. Dynamic, you know with Jalen, he's he has a knack for extending the play. He has his super powers and you know, he's he can make he's one of the best at throwing an eyeball, you know, the deep shot down the sideline and that showed up last year, even against the Vikings. And so a guy like that who's been around and he's grown, he's matured and you can see how he's gotten better and better each year in his phase. And I think the way they're using doesn't matter who the call it, who the play call over that has been, he still has had successful years and that's because the type of player and leader that he is for that organization. And so it's always a challenge going against a guy like that and you know, our guys are we're excited. He was interesting listening to him yesterday. That's the new coordinator for the commanders on defense.
How much new is with all these teams now? So the only unit on the two teams on Sunday that it has the same coordinator play call from last year is the Eagles defense would Vick right Eagles have a new offense quarter shamanian. The commanders have a new offense coordinator David Blow and a new defensive coordinator through on stage Jones. He feels like week one so little this do we even know about all these teams because there's so much like the commanders were bad last year. Yes. They're probably going to be not good again, but they do have two brand new coordinators. It makes these games. It makes week one very interesting each year because like what are they what are they keeping from last year? What are they not keeping from last year? And then Jones was mentioning he was on the staff in Minnesota when Sean Mannion was there. So he knows him too. Yeah. I mean, it's a lot. It's a lot going on with these two teams, man. But when you look at it, the talent has to take over. Yeah. That's what you think would have the talent has to take over and there is going to be just prepared. Everybody might be a little sloppy. Might be a little sloppy. Oh, I expect that. Yeah. But as long as we come out on top and we look like we're moving in the right direction,
that's why I think that matters because even last night we talked about that San Francisco game. They came out in that second half, right? Like they caught their second win and they just start throwing haymakers. Yeah. Well, they felt they supplied. They brought the food. Dude, I know if John Richie watched that game last night, he had to he had to be crying tears of joy to see that wham from the full bag and full bag motion and how they used that. That's old school football right there. They brought the full bag back in a big way last night. Well, and they ran and the 49ers ran the ball really well last night. I never run it right up the middle on the ramps. So they took it to them. It was it was a great game by Kyle Shanahan's team 215 592 94 94. That's how you hop it. All right. We got a lot to discuss today on the show. We'll get the some fillies in a little bit. That was a that was a bad loss yesterday and a bad series against the Houston Astros france. Keep Friday at 12. Scott will join us ahead of the final series of the year against the Atlanta Braves. That starts tonight down at land and we'll go east dropping on the enemy. There's a narrow moment. Hughes favorite segment every football Friday.
Guess the takes. It's I'm it's great. There's not like the first football Friday of the year. And this one it comes with a must win. This is a must win football game for the Philadelphia Eagles. Agree. Disagree. And I have an official statement in the 11 o'clock hour on my bowl prediction gone bad yesterday. We'll get to all that. Your calls next is that a must win for the Eagles. I say yes. Hugh Douglas doesn't believe so. Where do you come down? It's the midday show. Sports radio 94 WIP. I'll come back midday show. Hugh Douglas. Joe Jolie. You guys were about 215 592 94 94 official statement on my bowl prediction gone bad at 1115. And I think he wants to apologize to Nick Cereani for something. I'm not going to do that. But we'll get to all that coming up. Your phone calls here. Is this a must win football game for the Eagles? Obviously it is. Obviously it is. It clearly is. We go to gentleman Jack up on WIP gentleman Jack. You what's going on guy? What's up Jack? How are you? What are you thinking man?
Well, I mean it's been I'm the first time call. I've been here nine years. I've never called before. Well, happy to have you. Welcome to WIP. Thank you. Thank you. I've been around to a lot of media markets in the area. I lived Chicago, Atlanta, LA, Ohio, and I think by far you guys and this city is the best. So I want to give those kudos out first. Second I want to just say, you know, my heart goes out to the big cause. 9, 11, including myself. So that's all I want to say about that. And definitely this is a must win. I mean, just who they are, we got to win. We can't give away games that we should win. So and I feel confident because of Jay, you know, Jaylin's fine. He got the money. He got the girls and that's all a little new. We heard that. We got the money and the girl. People need to leave Jaylolo. He's going to be fine. He was jailing going to be fine. He's out of mind. Yeah, I think he will be.
I think he will be. He got the money. He got the girl. Well, he might want some more money. It's something. He's going to get that financial upon. Yeah, that's that. Well, I don't know about apology. Jack could go ahead, Jack. Yeah, but he got earned that money now. He knows it. And Jay's a winner. Jay has been a winner. He's a winner. He's a winner. Well, he is a winner. And now it's about, you know, evolving in a new office. Jack, then we've preached a phone call on the kind of words. All right. Expectation week one. Jaylon hurts the new offense. You Douglas. Uh, I expect. I expect I have a pretty good game. I expect my phone is doing something. Yeah, I expect, I have a pretty good game, man. You look at the you look at the combined passing yards from all the quarterbacks that I played thus far. I think 225 yards is decent. I think that's a decent start because you, I forgot who it was. I think how many times did the Eagles offense got to 225 last year? No, I'm saying that. I'm just I'm. Yeah, I think that's a good number for these. I think it'd be nice. Okay, 100. I'm thinking like 190, 190, 190, 200.
Yeah, I am in 200 feels like a number you want to get to. Well, because it's the first game of the season. And we've seen even, you know, they were throwing the ball all over the school yard last night. You we've seen, you know, the last two games, the passing game has not been as crisp. The best passing game that I've seen thus far in the four, the two games that I've seen pretty was parties. No question. Oh, without quite any through a picker early. They just kept going. And he just kept going. Like there's something to be said because there were to tell the two different games from Wednesday night to thursday night's game Friday, whatever you want to call it. You saw two quarterbacks that established the passing game early in the game. The other game the other night, you saw more of a ground game or more of a mixture of the running the past game. But these two quarterbacks were gunslingin last night. And one, I looked at when I was looking at staffer, I thought a step if Steph Curry on a cold night. Now I haven't seen too many times that Steph Curry has been cold. Let's have too many of those. Yeah, I haven't seen too many of those. But that was the thing that I thought about when I saw him throwing the football because
he threw, he threw a couple of lasers, the pook early on. And I thought I said, yeah, this is probably the best. I'm gonna get ugly, but they never, he could never consistently do it. When they got the first pick, when party through the first pick, they turned around a couple of plays late and gave it right back. Oh, they did. There's no question. So here, so here, for me, on Sunday, it's not about passing yards for jail and hearts. It's about points scored on the board. Yeah. So I'm going to, here's the number for me that I am most interested in for Sunday. 24 is the number. I'm going to throw a stat at you. I saw this week when it comes to Jaden Daniels as the commander's quarterback. Jaden Daniels is 12 and O as a starter in Washington when they give up fewer than 24 points. When the commanders allow fewer than 24 points, which Jaden Daniels has their quarterback, they have not lost in two years. 24 points is the number to me. That's, to me, that's the number for Sunday. I don't care if jail one has a hundred and sixty yards passing. If he has a 210 yards passing, 24 is the number for the Eagles offense. They get to 24 on Sunday. They will win the football game without question.
Anything less than that. I think the game becomes very tight with a possession of going the fourth quarter. Let's go to Chris in middle town. What's up, Chris? Happy football Friday, man. Happy football. We're back, Chris. It is officially a football Friday. What's up, man? We are back. Let's start with this. So 25 years ago, our country was attacked. But unfortunately, the people that did it, they had the wrong idea because they didn't go well for them after that. So I actually was just out of the army. I was living in Tucson, Arizona. So definitely never forget. Unfortunately, a lot of good friends of mine ended up going over there. So I'll leave that right there. But you know, guys, this is what it is. It's time. All right. Sunday night. Crime time. The light will shine. The crowd is in a roar. The bell is going to ring.
The conquest begins. And it's what it's all about. Division and temple brings the Lombardi trophy back home. Where it belongs. Bring it back to Philadelphia. Back to the pretty, that is equal to law. It's hoping in its face. We're about to show everyone that our birds are going to come in. We're going to rip your face off and pick your eyes out. We are birds of prey. Sunday will deliver pain like the grim reaper delivers death. We are going to laugh at that big football team from these things. We will bury these broadthirsts and put the lead on notice. This brother is here. This is our house. This is our co-steam. We are gladier. Armour on. Sword in hand.
Light in eye. The slaughter will begin. It's there's you. We'll release a pound of hell on the con. The broadthirsts will leave for a by. Our off is blind. It's tired of death. They're going to jump the commie faces, indigents and bury the rest. Stay far more at least. It's going to spread them for over 200 yards along with the hatchback of touchdowns. Filling, fando, fly equal fly. Let the power in. Let the house of hell rot. Let the pulleys fall. Let the weep kick down it. Weep on the full of the angle. This is our house. This is our city. This is our time.
Now don't take what belongs to us. Why evil? Why? And let everyone in the NFL go. Take cover. It's here. You'll let us say. You'll let us say. It's out there. It's out there. It's out there. I got to say, Will and Chris, they're week one ready. I mean, they had a training camp, obviously. They were ready. I ain't gonna lie. That was great. But I was kind of roofed with his voice to crack. Oh, no, you could not, no, not a week one. You can't have that. Chris, we couldn't have that. And you know what? Kyle, you don't want to do. Hey, Chris, my bad dog. I wanted your voice to crack. That was open. It was going crack. Some tells me we'll get a voice crack on an Eagle's Sh-
