5:13that we've ever seen before, ever felt before across college football. So much less Ole Miss. So explain to the nation as a whole outside of Mississippi how much intense hatred exists for Lang Kiffin in Mississippi. Well, let me put it this way. It's sort of like when someone cheats on you and then you know or cheats on someone else and then you take them and they're like, oh, no, they're not going to do me like that because I treat them so well. Yes. And then they turn around and do it to you and you're a little bit scorned and we're I think we're a little upset at ourselves for truly believing that he was a changed person. You know, he felt it was a good time for you though. He felt for it because he said he would never leave you and then he did. But you got some good times. The trips, the beach, the movies, you all did some fun stuff with Lane. Sober and how Oxford Mississippi has like made him a better person.

6:14Well, I envy you actually, Brent and that was a good call. I appreciate the call. I envy you for getting to be there because it will be amazing. It is. It is like you thought that she would change her ways for you. And ultimately she was who she who you thought she was. But I don't think that's a fair representation because it was good. Like when it was good, you had Ole Miss competing with Alabama. No one would have ever thought that was possible. I mean, it was a semi finals of the playoffs last year, right? It was so many times I believe they did. That's why you can't just say, oh, he left his elevated Ole Miss. I think that's what the emotions are because listen, they'll never say it, right? Because you can say good written's now because he's out of the shoe. But there's a bunch of those fans where their real emotions are. I wish he'd never left. Right. I don't disagree with that. You know, oh, Claire, I know, I know exactly where he's from. I just I have to stand by you on this one. Those fireworks were insane. Like I could hear them through your microphone. They were not normal fireworks. They went. I got to have your back on that. You were on the show that night. Rachel was on the show that night. It was hard to hear. It was coming through the microphone. It was chaos. And I couldn't do my job. So you called the police on fireworks on the 4th of July, the non emergency number. I think the biggest thing is what is someone expected to do versus where are they? Barry Barnes is the biggest differentiator there. He should be the most beloved baseball player of all time. And he is one of the biggest villains of all time. Thanks guys. That's true. There's a lot of truth about that. I think Barry Barnes gets too much hate in general. I think Barry Barnes is the greatest. You could argue grace hitter of all time. He would have been one of if not the greatest hitters without steroids. He takes steroids shouldn't have done that. Well, we think he's alleged to have taken steroids. So did a lot of people. Right. And so I but yet, I mean, people don't hate Mark McGuire. People don't hate Sammy Sosu. But yet for some reason they hate Barry Barnes. I don't really know if that's fair. Yeah. I mean, but Barry Barnes came back one summer with a new neck. We haven't seen that in the steroids era. And also, like Lane Kiffin, he didn't do anything to say, Hey, I'm sorry.

10:30I'm humbled by all this. He sort of said, whatever. If you don't like me, I don't like you. And that's a part of how Barry Barnes is perceived as well. That's true. All right. After week one in the NFL, it's generally the case that people overreact. It's a matter of fact, one of the ways I in in gambling, you know, sometimes I play some dollar bills at draft Kings on college and NFL games NFL. The biggest way to make money is to use the overreactions from week one into week two. I was looking at the lines today for games. There's big spreads in a lot of games this week. And part of the reason they're big spreads is overreaction to week one. So I'm going to give you some overreactions that people are having to week one. And you tell me, isn't an overreaction or is it real? We'll start with this. The chiefs are back overreaction or real overreaction, specifically by you on yesterday's show. Like I don't know what had happened, but you went into this Kansas City promotional mode in a way I've never seen. Was it a good performance? Yes,

11:34Patrick Mahomes coming back wasn't great, but was good enough. But I'm telling you, I just think there were a bunch of teams that could have had the same performance. If not better, against that Denver defense, they were out of sync. I don't know what happened, but the Broncos looked terrible. That was the storyline for me. I think it's real. It's real. Chiefs are back. I don't know if they're back in when a Super Bowl back, but they're back in the fact that they're going to be in our lives is a contender for the rest of the year. So long as Mahomes stays healthy, I think you got to say, I mean, look, you beat the Broncos, the team that went to the AFC championship by three touchdowns. I don't know how you can't say they're back. I mean, what will they will they have a chance to win the AFC? We'll see, but the Chiefs are most definitely back, not an overreaction in the least. The Broncos have taken a step back over reaction or real. I think that's an overreaction. You know, again, I don't know what happened in that first game. They looked terrible. As much as the storyline was patched from my home, just coming back from

12:35injury. Hello, you know, like my buddy, herb. Also, Bo Nix was coming off in injury too. And he's a young quarterback who probably needs more time to get back into it than patching my homes does as a veteran. So I don't think Denver's done. I don't think they've taken a step back. I think they have a quarterback who didn't feel like he had his legs underneath him yet. Yeah, I'm going to say it's an overreaction. I still think they can be good, but I also think it is a real thing that happened. Like you can't just skip over the fact that it happened. I mean, they lost and they lost by a significant margin against a team that they handled last year. So it's definitely they are a couple of step back, but is it done? Do they have no chance? To me, that would be an overreaction. How about the patriots are in trouble over reaction or real? I think that's an overreaction. I think they're in trouble if they have to play the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. I mean, that's where they're in trouble. I don't know what happened in that fourth quarter, Matt. Like you know, we talk about the mental aspects of football and sometimes we

13:39get so locked up in analytics. I don't know what it is about Drake May and the Seahawks and seeing ghost or whatever he saw out there, but he's got a hope and pray he never sees them in the playoffs. So if that doesn't happen, I think the Patriots can still be a good team. I'm going to say overreaction, but also I think they are just what I thought they were. I thought they were like the eighth best team or ninth best team in the NFL last year, and I think that's probably where they are again. It's just they got fortunate based on schedule and the way it fell to make the Super Bowl. So that made people say, well, they're the second best team, but I don't think they ever work. So I think it's an overreaction to count them out. They're probably the eighth or ninth best team this year. And that's what they look like in Seattle. Remember though, they didn't have a chance to win again. I mean, he threw an interception there. If he doesn't throw an interception, they might have ended up winning. And we would have a completely different idea. The Bears have the best offense in football over reaction or real. That feels real to me. I mean, they scored in different ways. Caleb Williams looked like he could do whatever he wanted out there.

14:40The run game was good. Hit all of his targets. I don't know. I mean, to me, that was why you hired Ben Johnson. The idea was, can you link him up with Caleb Williams and create this high powered offense the same way he did with Jared golf, who I think Caleb Williams has a higher ceiling than Jared golf. I think you can put him in number one. That feels real after what we saw. I think it feels real. I mean, I still don't know if the Bears are a Super Bowl contender because I'm worried about that defense a little bit. We're just talking about the offense. I mean, let's remember loveland didn't even have a catch. Yeah, they scored 59 points and they're tied in that was all world last year. Didn't even have a catch. I mean, that that that that would be scary to me. If I were the teams on the Bears schedule, I'm a Bears fan. I still don't know about the defense, but offensively, are they the best offense? I would say without question, Rams missed the playoffs over reaction or real. I think that's an overreaction. Although we need to watch this team. My

15:40was Garrett being hurt. We don't know when Aaron Donnell is going to come back. We thought Aaron Donnell was going to be complimentary Matt to this team. It's not they may need them. Depending on what happens with my was Garrett, but I just think they traveled around the world halfway around the world made a bad decision in terms of how they prepare for that trip and when they arrived. And I think back home, they're going to be okay. Yeah, I'm going to say overreaction on them missing the playoffs, but real that Miren gave the dumbest prediction in the history of mankind. They were going to go undefeated. Well, dumbest in the history of all, I don't think you'd say dumbest. How about the dumbest in the history of sports radio? I don't know. There've been some bad ones out there. What's worse? You thought a team was going to go undefeated. You said it had a 68% chance of going undefeated and they lost by 20 points in their first game. It's true. It was it wasn't my best stuff, but I've had a lot of good stuff. Focus on the neck. I get homeless cons on it. Something,

16:44I like how you just try to skip over this one. I'm not going to let you skip over this one. And finally, Justin Herbert and Jordan Love are in trouble this year overreaction or real. I don't know what in trouble means if it's the idea that these are two guys who could play their way out of the playoffs, if they don't perform based on what we saw, yeah, I'll buy that. I think that's real. Like Jordan, not to be collapsed against the Vikings in the scenario, Matt, where everybody's doubted him, right? Under pressure. How do you show up? The Vikings on the road, they're launching this comeback. What are you going to do? He's fumbling. He's throwing interceptions. Justin Herbert just had one of those games where you're going, man, your top 10, like Justin Herbert is the only guy that we call top 10 who every year Matt has six or seven games where he's like, I don't know if that dude's top 15. I can't remember the stretches of bad football. And I think the high low thing for him has to be something cleans up. Yeah, I think I'm going to say overreaction with Justin Herbert because of what you just said. He's just a high low guy. He's

17:48going to have really a big high. He's going to have lows. Plus, he married Madison beer. And so, I can't say that he is in trouble. I will say maybe real with Jordan love. Now, I haven't Josh Jacobs. And then really not having receivers besides Jordan Watson. I feel like you can trust. I actually think it may be real when it comes to Jordan love having issues. 888 say ESPN. It is Matt Myron. By the way, a couple of pieces of news. Joe, Joe Barrow was out of practice today. Not able to practice. That's according to Ian Rappin port. He does expect to play on Sunday and said he had quote plenty of mental reps. That's how I always say to I had plenty of mental reps. And then Kevin's defense. He says he does not know who the quarterback will be yet this week for the Falcons. Seems like something you would want to know on Wednesday, right? I think what Kevin's fans is really saying is he doesn't have the quarterback on the roster that he wants. He doesn't think he has a cable quarterback right now. First of all, the Protect College Sports Act, which is the bill that Congress has passed to try to regulate college sports. If you watched almost anyone involved with college football, you would think that it has to pass for reasons of national security. It has gone through the first part of what it takes in the Senate. I think they did something where they

25:08invoked cloture or use whatever parliamentary term. Still has not passed the Senate. The House has said it was not going to take it up until next year. So it's still a ways away. I personally am not as in favor of it as everyone else is, including most of the people on this network. I could explain why, but honestly that would be boring radio. But it is worth noting that it passed. And part of the reason the people that are for it say it needs to pass was highlighted in an article today in the athletic. They showed how much money the schools in the power for our pain for their college football teams. And it was a pretty astounding, astounding list. First of all, the team that is paying the least for their college football program is Boston College. Boston College is paying between eight and thirteen million dollars, which is just enough money to have the least amount of money of any power for school in the country.

26:08Are you surprised the eight to thirteen million, which at one point would have been a lot. It's up being last. Well, I want you to clarify this is just for the roster. This isn't like how much they're spinning on foot. This is for the players only for the players. I mean, I did at a thirteen million dollar team. Is that the bottom just tells you last man. How much money is that top Ohio state is estimated to be paying between 50 and 55 million dollars for their football team. Organ is second. You may remember they just lost last week, Oklahoma State 49 to 54, then Texas LSU, Texas A&M Miami Notre Dame Ole Miss Tennessee and Alabama. It is worth noting that of the ten teams that have spent the most money on their roster, seven of those ten are in the top ten right now in college football. So you can see a direct correlation between spending and success.

27:12When you see that and hear those numbers, Myron, what do you think? Do you think that's good? Do you think it's bad? What do you think it is? I mean, I think it's just the game. Some of that's not surprising. I do think there are some other schools in there where people didn't maybe didn't realize how much money those schools had. A bunch of those schools are in the SEC map where not only do you have a bunch of money, but you have no proteins and a lot of those places. And this is where folks want to invest. Six of the top ten are in the SEC. I know we talk about realignment in the future and do we have super conferences. I think this will be the dividing line, Matt. At the end of the day, I think it's going to be, okay, who can spend, I don't know what the number is, $25 billion a more. And if you can, you're in this division. And if you can't, you're in another division because how do you put a team that's made 50 million or spending 50 million against a team that's spending 15? You don't see that anywhere else except in college football. It is worth noting that Indiana, who won the national championship last year, was 18th on the list.

28:14That is worth noting. Like that is, it wasn't like they were first, they were 18th. That's still a lot of money, but they spent about 60% of the money that Ohio State spent. And if you remember, Indiana, Bito, Ohio State, it all depends, Miron, on how you look at it. So on the one hand, I can hear people going 50 to 55 million dollars. They should play for a scholarship and burr, burr, burr, burr. But then I could give you something a little different. Last week when Ohio State played Texas, 14 million people watched that game. It's a lot of people. Kentucky played Alabama, 7.5 million watched. Michigan played Oklahoma, 8 million people watched it. A lot of money was raised in those games. A lot of money and it has to go to someone. So I actually think there's a pretty good argument. It should go to the players. And it's not a surprise what schools have the highest payrolls, the one that have the games, where the most people watch.

29:17Ohio State and Texas have the first and third highest payrolls. They also play the game that will likely be the most watch game of the season in college football. So if you believe in America, people should make the amount of money that they are worth and that they generate. These players are generating the money that is actually raised in this. And that's why when Congress comes in and says, we're not going to use the market to determine it. We're going to put a cap on it artificially just because we think it's good. And oh, by the way, coaches, we won't put a cap on your money. You get to make whatever you want. That rubs me the wrong way. Even though, yes, is it unfair Boston College pays one seventh as much? Sure. But the Ohio State games are a lot more interesting than Boston College games. Yeah, I mean, there's an interest there clearly a financial investment, which is why Ohio State is Ohio State and Texas is Texas.

30:17Then why you see some of those teams at the top? I do think if you're telling me there's a team spending 50 million playing teams that spend 15 or less, I don't know how that's fair. Right. I mean, so I do think there has to be some form of stability. At the same time, this is not to me how you get there eventually, Matt, we need collective. Like eventually, that's the only way to me where you're going to be able to say, okay, let's figure out what's on the table, how much money is available to these athletes. And let's have a way to make them the professional athletes that they really are right now. Anything beyond that is a step short. These coaches who are promoting it, I get it because we do need some form of stability. I will say this. I covered Michigan basketball, I covered the final four as a college basketball reporter, Matt, the confetti is falling. And I'm sitting there talking to coaches who are in the portal trying to figure out who they're going to lose and who they have to get literally as the confetti is falling. We need something to stabilize the sport, but to act like this is sort of a guarantee.

31:20I don't think that's that. By the way, Duke just Duke spends the second let least on their roster, 12, 12 million dollars. They also made the ACC championship. Well, with who though, with a quarterback who went to Miami for more money. But you know what, such as life, one of the, I mean, Marin, you used to write articles for the local newspaper and then ESPN came with the big money, started offering you the fancy wardrobe and the nice hats and then you end up here. So I mean, like, that's kind of how life is, isn't it? Yeah, but they can't keep that guy. I mean, that's, you know, I say this as a brewers fan. You said as a reds fan. It's almost like baseball. 39:49The women can some of that era. They're not there to women characters are not treated well in that movie. So I don't age well. Well, I think it ages well. I just can see why women would not like it. Let's just check in with baseball because you know the playoffs are coming. Yeah. You and I are going to be required to talk about baseball. I hope you're ready to talk about the Brewers. Are they? Yeah. Peter Lanzo hit his 300th career home run yesterday in front of the Met's crowd, except when he was on the other team. He's playing for Baltimore. He said there was a lot of history here and it meant a lot to me. Do you think do you like the fact he played there for so long he gets a 300th home run and it's where he played. That's kind of cool. I not only like it. I also like the reception when he did it. And then after the guys who caught the home run ball gave it back to him in exchange for like two signed jerseys and a couple of the baseball. So that was a cool little moment after that as well. So now I love that nostalgia. Would you do that if it was your if you caught it. Would you have given it back to him for two jerseys?

Listen, man, if you hit it into the stands for the right price. I would make I would give him a chance to buy it. I don't know. I feel like if it's the guy who hit it. But you know what bothers me, Matt? Is someone who catch a ball. We saw that Aaron judge all these other guys. And then immediately they're kind of taking down to sort of this private area. And then the guy comes just press. What do you say? Yeah. 42:16Okay. But I can't give them the ball. It's a does a market for it. It's people who've listened to show for a while. No, Ellie Day La Cruz. Probably my favorite baseball player of all time. I was there for his first game. I saw him play in Louisville at AAA. I've been talking about him. My runs for as long as you've known me. Have I not talked about? You have. You love them. I have season tickets. I go watch him. He's my favorite player. He was quote, uh, Trent, uh, Trent Rosencran said yesterday, the Ellie Dale Cruz quote has bigger. Emissions than being with Cincinnati and has already declined. What would have been the largest contract in Red's history. I didn't like reading. You didn't like reading the truth that everybody's known from day one. You didn't think you was going to stay right. What would be a bigger ambition than playing for the Cincinnati Reds? Um, and making me happy. Ask his real estate agent is probably an L. A. Right now. Look at that. You see that. He's right there. I don't know if they're showing that I gave her a not. There he is right there. I would have to take that down. Yeah.

43:19If he goes, I can't, I can't have that. No, you can, you can fault him for going to LA in New York for a crazy amount of money. Right. You, you couldn't be mad at him. If he comes back and you'd have to cheer for him. If he went to a place. I couldn't be mad at him. No, but like he should have some sympathy for me. And at least consider that in the equation. If he goes to the Tigers or Milwaukee or an Astros. That's one. If he goes to the Dodgers, the Mets of the Yankees for a ridiculous amount of money. I don't want to go to the Dodgers. Although I think he grew up a Dodgers fan. So I worry that's where he's going to end up. I would like to see him in the Yankees. I think he would take New York by storm. He'd be good. And I think having him in New York would be good for baseball. I think having another person on the Dodgers doesn't really help anybody by and like that doesn't help the sport. But I think wherever he goes, he'll be so electric that he could be the face of baseball. And every goes to make a lot of people realize how electric he is. I get to watch him every night.

44:21Even when they stay he had a ball out of the park. It's windy like he's unbelievable. He's the most fun player in baseball. And it is kind of a shame that unless you're in Cincinnati. You don't really get to see him play. But that's the way it goes. New York is going to see him. We're going to watch Marin Freddie and Harry are next.
