Three o'clock in the big city. Don, Han and Rosenberg on another gorgeous day. This one on Wednesday. No Peter today. Peter had to travel. He is going to be back with us again tomorrow. Right. But he said if anything big happens, he's going to travel with his microphone. So I can just see him like in his room with holding his microphone waiting for the phone to ring.
Wait, wait, something to happen. I don't think for something to happen. Yeah. Some happen last night. And so it's going to happen tonight. There's a lot going on that we're going to discuss. Peter Shreggar is going to join us coming up at 3.30. We're going to talk some football because tonight the 2026 regular season begins in Seattle. Seahawks and the Patriots. And then tomorrow from Australia, it's going to be the Rams and the 49ers. It's on, man. Yep. So Paul's here and we'll see if anybody's going to partake in the game tonight or tomorrow. We'll have our picks coming up on Friday for week one. So we got jets and giants to talk about. So Peter's going to join us coming up at 3.30. Peter Shreggar first time to get a chance to talk to him. Of course, joining us after some time with the NFL network. And now he's working here with the SPN. And we're looking forward to talking to him throughout the season 430. I got a list that I created. Oralist to be clear, everybody. As usual. I'm not in on this, but he doesn't even give me a hint. Nothing. I know I enjoy it. Okay. But what are you complaining about? I just want everybody to know.
I don't know. I'm going to find now about this list along with you. There, there's different theories. When I first came up with a list during COVID, I wanted everybody in on it. Yep. And then Michael and Peter are like, no, no, no, don't tell us. We'll guess. And then like Andrew Gulley was producing it at the time. It's like, yeah, it's better if they try to guess. Is it? So, but that's what I questioned. I'm like at the beginning, I'm like, I'm not sure, but everybody just seemed to get excited about guessing it. Rather than me just reading it down and debating it. But if you're into knowing it and being a part of it, I'm all for that too. I guess because I have this thing about not being prepared, I'm a big prepare guy. But then you can't guess. If I know at least the topic, then I can do a little bit of research to feel smart. Because I'm not, I don't, but do you have an amazing recall? Like you're an encyclopedia. You could just go like, find the index. Boom, here I can give you a couple of references. Me at some, I just need a little kick start. All right, well, how about this? All right.
Rather than you being involved in the list, I'm not. But at the start of every Wednesday show, I will tell you what the topic is. And that gives you an hour and a half to think of what it could be. I like it. So you want to start now or next week? Let's do it. All right, topic. Well, I'm going to tell you today is my anniversary. 21 years ago today. I got married to Nancy. So it's my anniversary. Yes, that's how that works. 9.9. She even said for Wayne Gratsky, but that's just how it worked out. Or Aaron Judge. So, I wasn't no offense to Aaron Judge, but I'm sorry. I mean, time when he was ago, he was not. No, he was, he was, he was, he was, he was matching something, probably, you know, some toys or something. Because he was probably born. He was bam, bam, as a kid. Like if you could do a cartoon of Aaron Judge, as a baby, he's the bam, bam from the Flintstones. Now everybody is, yes, I know. This is very subjective. And Nancy helped me with this. Okay. Oh, wow. Collaborative. I like top five dates. You cannot forget in a relationship.
I mean, like calendar dates, calendar dates. The top five dates. You can't forget. This is, this is fun. This is fun. I like it. Listen, I'm not being sexist. So if you're a woman out there, you can say, well, what are the five that your husband or your boyfriend would be upset about? But in my case, I was able to ask Nancy, so let me, yeah, you know, it's our anniversary. We'll would bother you more for getting that. And I, there's other examples. So that's, that's, that's, you can, you can chew on that for an hour now. We'll do. All right. So we got a lot of football to get to. But last night, Aaron Judge finally came back 99 days after the last time he played. Yankees won the game five three. He didn't have anything to do with the played six settings when over three couple of strikeouts. It's timing looked off. He looked like a guy who had been played for 99 days. And the ring was good. Just just off. Everything was off. Nothing was really hit to him. There was one play that was quite close to him and Jones caught it. So it was good to get back into it. But I'm not sure anything was accomplished other than he put on a uniform and played six settings.
Yankees won the game. Redsox lost. So the Yankees, you move a little bit farther ahead of the Redsox. I don't think they're that concerned about the Redsox catching them. Because remember, the Redsox have to beat the Yankees outright because the Yankees have the tie break. Right. Well, the Yankees are looking out of the raise and the raise one going away. Did you see that? Against the Braves. I mean, they just pick offense to the back half of the game. Yeah. Just so that they're very good. Razor a very good baseball team. So it stays at four where they teen left to play. So the Yankees didn't get any ground there. But just trying to get Judge going. But what everybody's talking about today is that we were told that everybody's on the same page. The judge was going to come back on Tuesday. Aaron Boone told the story that when Grisham got hurt on Friday, Boone was writing his office saying, you know, let's go. Let's get me back in. No, we're going to wait until next week and they decided it was going to be on Tuesday. Whether it was the symmetry in 99 days, whether that was a coincidence, Hodeck knows. But he comes back on Tuesday. And the plan before the game, Boone said he's not going to play the whole game.
But Judge just seemed to be in a way in the post game about the whole situation. First, he talked about his return. I feel great just having been a live game or seen live pitching in, you know, three months. So it's kind of like, you know, a start of the year. But I got work to do. You know, I got to improve and we'll keep improving. Is this goes along because you got ball games to win. So that's the most important thing. All right. No big deal there. No. How do you feel? Feel great. I play half a game. So I don't know what to say about that. I think the catalog conversation about that with the manager when he went to take you out. How hard did you play to just stay in there for a whole night? I respect Boone. So whatever he says, I'm going to do. But, you know, I'm not happy about it. But, you know, that's where I got wrong. I almost picked me up and let a nice little three run home where they're to kind of put the game out so we can be comfortable going into the last inning. But yeah, not too happy about it. See, to me, that was the money quote on why this is not a controversy. You know, hearing people all day today, well, did Judge not know? Did they keep it from Judge?
Was there miscommunication? Is Judge going after his manager? No. He knew he was on the same page, but just wasn't happy about. He wants to play the entire game. Okay, I respect my manager. So I'll do what I'm told, but I don't have to be happy about it. Right? I tell my son to go to bed. He goes to bed. But if you interviewed him in the post game of the bedroom, he'd be like, you know, I'm not happy about it. I'd like to still be watching. Blowey, I'd want to still be on my iPad. But I respect my dad. He told me to go to bed. I went to bed. All that is is he's a gamer. When he left the game, crack me for a while. It was too long. So he's probably thinking to himself, hey, I want to be, I want to contribute here. We might lose this game. I got it right. Raise your winning in Atlanta and, and, and Ramos pinch hits for him. It's all a home run. Yeah, that's great. Out of reach, but at the time, he, all Judge is saying is, I got no problem with anybody. I get it, but I'm not happy about it. And I think that's a good thing. Yeah. There's other ways to look at it too.
And I agree with you. I don't, I think his tone was more of a player, especially a star player that wants everybody to know. Like, I'm not, you know, like this load management thing, I aim for it. Like, this is their plan. I'm following it because that's what I'm supposed to do. But if you think I'm just sitting here comfortable leaving a game where we're up to one, I'm not because I'm a leader and I expect to win. The other part of it too is because he was asked how he feels. His response is probably like, I didn't do anything. There was no reason to take me out because I really, I didn't run down a ball. I didn't hit anything to get on base. That is a good point. I did nothing. I didn't even get cardio in yet. Like, so I could have kept going. I wasn't tired. Yeah, I wonder in the back of his mind, the thing he's unhappy about is, yeah, take me out early. But he's probably thinking during the course of the game. Like, I haven't run. Yeah, I haven't got anything hit. I haven't, I've just standing out in the outfield for two hours. The most he did was jog in and out of the dugout. And that's it.
And I'm sure he was probably hoping that, all right, he'll get another extra. And I guarantee you, when he went to Boone, I guarantee you what he said to Boone was, you know, I'm actually fine. I haven't done anything. Like, you don't have to take me out. I'm good. Like, I don't, I didn't do anything. It's different if he had dirt on his jersey. He had a long ad bat, a couple of battles, whatever it is. Fowl the few off. Well, I don't, if he had more activity, but what he probably was feeling was, like, they're, you know what I say, the load management. There was no load. Nothing. I didn't do anything. That was, see, this is, this guy reminded me. You know what I'm reminding of watching it. Like the job rules. Yeah. You know, like, when you come up with these hypothetical pitches, he's not allowed to exceed, oh, become playoff time. You'll, it doesn't matter. Yeah, the governor's off. You're kind of playing reindeer games here. So what's the difference if his arm can take it or not? Arm doesn't know if it's the regular season of the post season.
He's just throwing. Yeah. But they got in their head. Yeah, we're going to play him six innings. We're going to play him X amount of hours. And now we're going to pull the plug no matter what. But I'm more logically looking at it and going, yeah, that was the plan, but he hasn't done anything. Let's sneak another at bat. Yeah, let's sneak another couple of events in there. If he had hit two doubles in a row, maybe he'd take about earlier, because he had to run the bases a couple of times. If he had to die for a ball, let's take him out. Like I think that's what frustrates people about baseball and the whole analytics of it all is like, dude, can we just go by feel reason? Just if this makes sense. It's like, hey, he didn't do anything. Get him another inning. Yeah. Or if he did too much, let's pull him out earlier, because the project tells you, you know, you see it and you make the decision. They battered around one inning and he got to his third half bad. And he was on base a couple of times and maybe he'll like, all right, let's just dial it back because we are ramping you up. But there's, you know, ramping up is only when I've actually, I'm on ramp, he wasn't, he was on flat ground the whole game. He didn't really do anything. I guarantee you there was a part of him that just physically felt like, I didn't even break a sweat yet today. Right.
But he doesn't mean, but I like the added hit. I love it. I like what he's doing because he has to as a star have an urgency about him, which I've been talking about, which you're letting the player, I want to play just like he told Boone, or Boone told the story about when Gritzen got hurt. He said, put me in now, like you just said. And that's something that shows urgency. Guys, it's time. We're under 20 games now. And I think that's important. I also think if you're the organization, the franchise, if you're the medical team, you're just going to, you take it gladly. Yeah, blame us. Hate us. That's okay. We'll be the bad guys and we'll be the ones that are just kind of holding you back. But you're the one that's trying to fight through all of the straps that we're trying to hold you down, because that's what we want to see, that you're dying to be unchained. We want to release the Hounds. You know, that's really what this has become. I was going to say cracking, but we know that didn't work out. Like that's really what they want to do is have judge almost to a point
where he wants to rip the door off the cage and let me free. And that's fine. Let the, let the team, let the medical staff hate on them all you want. Judge wants you to know I'm not sitting back and just saying, Hey, you know, I got to take it easy. He doesn't want to take it easy because it's not take it easy time of the season. This is what you want, what Judge did and everybody's trying to make it a controversy. You should be happy about it. This is what I wish you'd get from NBA players when there's load management. Like when, when they don't play somebody in the NBA, have the player after the game say, Oh, I'm so ticked off. I didn't play. I respect my head coach. I respect the plan. So I didn't play because I know you're the same page, but I got to tell you, I really wanted to really bother some guys. And you respect what you hate is when you see those guys on the bench and they're just chill. They're in street clothes, not playing happy about it. They goofing off. And it's like, why are you so happy?
Like your team's losing. You're not in uniform and you're fine. Like that's always the bad look to me. And I think Judge is aware of how everything look. He's in New York a long time though. He's aware how everything looks and perception and him putting up this fight. This is the same thing like Jalen Bruns would be the same way. Like it's along those lines. You think Eli Manning would be happy sitting down there. Do you be happy? No. To be, you know, they put a governor on them. They're not too much Derek. Let no, they all want to go. And there is also, I understand some people want the to turn into a controversy. Or he didn't go too far where he's pointing fingers, making his manager look bad. He did it just enough. Hey, let the world know I'm not happy about it, but I understand. He said, I respect my manager. He respects the decision of the organization, but he doesn't have to be happy about it. Right. And that's good. That's what you want. Because he hears everything. He knows that he's underachieved in the postseason. You know, he even talked about the fact that, you know, what is it?
34 straight years of finishing about 500. And who cares? I want to see a ring. I want to champion. I'm not finishing 500. So finally, we glaze over that. Majorly baseball made such a big deal of it. It's second longest, right? The Yankees with 39. There was a 39 to 60, 64, 64. Yeah. Must be. So they, they made such a big deal about that. And the comments on the post about it are hilarious. I know. I didn't look at it because I kind of expected it was going to be Yankee fans not caring about it. Yeah. Because they had no. But it should be nice. It's dude. I get it. You guys can be so irritated. We are the ones that when I say you guys, I'm looking right at you. Because you're among them. I accept this. All right. I wear this proudly. I get you have a one since 2009. I get that you should have one since 2009 with the payroll, with the expectations and everything. But dude, you could still at the same time be proud that you've gone that way. Along with that losing record, man, nobody else. All of the other dynasties, the spurs have taken a dip.
Canadians have taken a dip. We've seen the cowboys having won heck longer, way longer than you. You know, and they've had a lot of winning seasons, but they've had some really bottomed out ones. Like so they can't even say the San Antonio spurs can't say Canadians can't say it. The Celtics can't say it. None of them can say it. You can say it. The Detroit Redweens, they had the longest streak of making the playoffs. Now they've got the longest of not making the playoffs. Which is you haven't had to pay the piper. Everybody pays the piper. Everybody eventually say, all right, your run has ended. You've got to try to replenish and for the next decade you're going to stink. You have not had to go through that. Right. 34 consecutive years, which means if you start to understand baseball at what age? 6, 7. Then that means you have to be above the age of 40 to understand what it's like for a Yankee team to be under 500. The majority of our audience doesn't even know what that is. There are no concept of it.
So don't don't there are there are college kids who weren't their entire lifetime. The Yankees have been have had a winning record. There are there are there are kids who graduated college and are in their entry level jobs starting their careers who don't know a world. They don't know where the Yankees had a losing record. The closest they came was 82 and 80, right a couple years ago. 82 and 80 in 23. Yeah. And so I understand that that's you've set the standard. So maybe you don't appreciate it because you don't know what it's like to see Don Mattingley hitting home runs into an empty upper deck because nobody bothered to go because the team wasn't any good. Watch those videos and something. George Steinberg threatening to move them to New Jersey because people weren't going to the Bronx. You know, I live through it. I saw the stunt barrel years, the buck, bucky dank years. Two, you know, you live because you're old. None of me. So I get it, but like you should be proud of that. Nobody, no other franchise, none zero, no one, bring any of them up.
All four major sports, all of them at some point embarrassed their fan base. At some point, you're like, oh boy, even the giants is proud giant fan. They've embarrassed themselves. All right. The Metz clearly have done that. We can give you the the history of the next and everybody else. The Yankee fan will say, and that's a lot of the majority of the comments where either fans of other teams that were just taking shots at the Yankees, but then there's also Yankee fans. And they will say that this is all that matters now is just winning during the regular season or they'll say, like you just said, they didn't embarrass you for over three decades. Yeah, they waited till October to embarrass us. Right. But that's what they'll say. They'll point to failures in the playoffs. And I've always said this, we in America have it so asked backwards because in Europe, they have different championships and soccer is a big sport. We know. Right. And there's different championships. Put your league matters. What you do during the length of your season matters where the only I can't imagine thinking
about this. The regular season is generally six months in all the sports, right? Right. Playoffs are two months. Two months means more than the six months. So the six months that you play and the result of the six months over a marathon, you are absolutely the best team, best record. But if you don't win the two month tournament, that six months means nothing. But I do. How does that logically make sense? But because that's just how it's all about the rings and the trophies and all that. What I would say the Yankee fans is is that listen, both could be true. You could be disappointed that they haven't won in 17 years, but also be proud of the fact that you for a team that never, ever embarrasses you. I'm sorry. The Yankees are the gold standard of baseball, but there are other gold standards, whether it's the Celtics in the NBA, the Montreal Canadians and the NHL, you know, the Green Bay Packers or Dallas Cowboys or San Francisco 49ers in the NFL, I say the New England Patriots now with they've and all of them at some point recently have embarrassed their fans with
their fans are like, oh my god, turn it off. You haven't had that happen. So there should be a sense of pride, I think there is much as you're disappointed. Still that sense of pride. So when you see the tweet that says 34 consecutive years of winning records, instead of quickly commenting, that doesn't matter. It's about the championship. At least look at it and go, wow, none of the other professional sports franchises can come close. It really is unreal when you compare it to the what other teams have done over the years. It's mind boggling to be honest with you. And also what's going on now, right? Shuller went out there and just pitched another gem that well, they're supposed to do that. No, he's not supposed to do that. He's a kid and yet he's becoming one of the best pictures in baseball. He's going to win a Saiyong. The numbers off this kid. 20 starts where he's allowed one or no runs. 20. And I know these don't matter, but like last year, Judge wins the MVP this year.
Cam's going to win a Saiyong. In the Yankees, I've always been known for not really producing pictures since Andy Petta, but now you're seeing this kid. He saved your bacon against Boston last year in the post season. And he might have a chance to do it again here this year. And he's a kid. I think he's a game one. I might feel in my mind. I think he's a game one. He's really gotten in back, which is good. Hey, but you know what, Don? You know what else is good that the weight is over because football is there. It is. I didn't listen to anything you just, uh, kicks the show on demand whenever you want. Just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. Get the Patriots and Seahawks on Wednesday. More the better, right? Just get it, get it earlier. Get some football. So a football coming up on tonight Wednesday, then Thursday night, and then before you know it, it'll be Sunday and we'll get to see the jets and the Titans and the Giants and the Cowboys. And hopefully we'll see some entertaining football and dare I say winning football this year in New York. Peter Schrager joins us here, of course, our own company here at ESPN.
Welcome to Don Han and Rosenberg. Sir, how are you? Hey, boys, I'm great. Thanks for having me. I appreciate it. Wednesday football. We're very weird. I don't necessarily love it, but here we are. It's got a COVID feel to it, right? I remember we were getting Tuesday football. We were getting games in the middle of the afternoon. It's kind of strange, but I get I, my conspiracy theory, Peter is these are the trial balloons to a day where we're going to see football every day that we're going to see a Tuesday night football Wednesday night football. I mean, really, once they go to 18 games, I guess, anything's possible, right? Yeah. And good though has been very transparent that this is the goal. They want to expand to Europe. And if you're going to expand to Europe, you have to adjust for all the travel. And so that game had to be on Thursday, which means we're not going to start with a non-superbilled team. So they moved to Wednesday and we all kind of shrug our shoulders and say, all right, I guess it wasn't so precious that the season started on Thursday, but it was a tradition. And now we have this. And you know, I'm on all the ESPN shows today.
And it's like more discussion about sleep schedules for the Rams and 49ers than we have for the opening game of the season because that's the intriguing story and it's tomorrow's game. So it's on Thursday. Yeah. So it's I don't know. I don't love it. But I also like, all right, we're here. What am I going to do? What's the pride about it? I might have called it. Well, it's just you don't have to wait. I mean, there's a whole song about I'm waiting all day for Sunday night. You don't have to wait all day. You ain't write to it on a Wednesday instead of waiting for a Thursday. Not so bad. We've seen this before, you know, not COVID related. The league. We started here in New York. League started a season on a Wednesday. Do you remember? Yeah. Yeah. I do. And I think about also like the NBA, if I'm not mistaken, they're starting the season at three o'clock in the afternoon. Yes, they are. So I don't know what we're doing. It's just a lot of broadcast networks. Everyone needs their fill. And tomorrow I'll be watching a netflix game that's being aired at 10 30 a.m. locally in Australia. And I'm I get some here for it. That's the different part of it.
With that game, Aaron Donnell has made a huge, like the huge headlines just about a week ago when he gave you the Michael Jordan on back, when you add him, now I know he's not even, he didn't make the trip, right? Like he didn't even go with them, which makes sense. But once you get to a point in the season where he's now ramped up and ready to go, putting him with with Miles Garrett. What are the rams that you run away favorite because of this edition? I waved her on this. So earlier in the week, I was like, what happened to the Seahawks? Why are we not talking about the Seahawks? And I feel like there's an a wave of Seahawks talk this week. And suddenly, it's like, all right, see how it's again in their respect. Truth of the matter is, they played twice in the regular season last year. They split and then the Seahawks won in the end of C.C. After game played in Seattle, those two teams are head and shoulders above everybody else in the NFC. It would be a great disappointment if those two teams did not advance to the deeper rounds of the playoffs. I look at the rams though.
And as much as they want to roll our eyes at the thought of a dream team or say, it doesn't work like that in football. Garrett, Donald, McGuffy, Watson are four awesome editions on defense. And they added some coaches on the coaching staff, including Cliff King's variety, be another voice from McVeigh. They didn't lose much from last year. They brought back most of the key players. I find it very hard to prove to or dismiss the rams at this point. One of the best coaches in football, the reigning MVP and they added three of the best defensive players in all of football to their roster. I have to think the rams are the favorite. And in talking about that, like spinning it locally with the giants, and you hear people say, can the giants make the playoffs? I'm a Giants fan, Peter. I just want to get back on the rails. I just want to get back in the league. I want to play meaningful games in December, explain to me how they can make a jump to 10 wins, which is probably what it's going to take to make the playoffs. I mean, this NFC is stacked. You can have two wildcard teams in the West. You have two wildcard teams in the North. Washington gets their quarterback back. Like I just don't see an avenue with an improved Giants team being that improved to be able to compete
with those teams to get a playoffs spot. Do you? I do. I think they've got a shot. And you know, the rule in the league is there's four new playoffs teams every year at the very bare minimum since the 70s. And a lot of times teams go from the seller to the top. Now, in this case, with a Giants, you're looking at a team that has just been collecting first round talent over the last few years, especially in the front seven. And there's nothing to really show for it. You have to have Dart play as well as you could possibly play. And then you need everything else to fall into place. Neighbors have to be healthy. And those defensive players all have to be studed. I have the Giants. And isn't me pandering to the local New York audience? And this isn't me just because, you know, the Giants are a shock and all pick and everyone will talk about it. I have the Giants as a wildcard team. Okay. I do. I don't. I think that hardwell comes in. He immediately instills culture. They were away together for 14 days. They came back as a galvanized United Front. And I have to think after watching last year, the Seahawks in the Patriots go from nowhere to the Super Bowl. It's not the craziest thing to think a team that has all those top picks on the front seven and also has a new coach and entirely new coaching staff.
And according back to that, I don't get excited about. It's not the craziest thing that they can compete now. So they start off all in two hosting the Cowboys and then going against the Rams. Perhaps that doesn't mean that done for the season. The schedule does get easier as they go. And there a team that looks like they're just getting started because obviously with the coaching change. This is just the beginning. But on the other for the other team in New York, Aaron Glenn feels like a guy like actually answered for me. I'm not even going to make the statement. Is this a prove it year for him or is his seat still quite cozy and cool with Woody Johnson being the one that selected him as the coach? How could I say anything other than his of course his seat is already warm last year was an other disaster. And they fired the entire offensive coaching staff and defensive coaching staff. And he's basically the one last man standing. So when you say goodbye to everybody and you let everyone out go, if there's a similar production, everyone looked at the head coach again and then they said, OK, well, that wasn't working. This isn't working.
You who's the problem truth of matter is it's going to be an uphill climb for the jets this year. I think the two first round picks and trading away coin in Williams and saw a gardener kind of told you where they're at with this roster. And the hope is that the young guys play well, they fight hard every week. And then if they want to embarrass themselves or embarrass this franchise, I am, I'm a believer in in what Aaron Glenn has been preaching. I am not bailing on him yet. I think the jets are going to play smart sound football and hopefully they have some of the things that played them last year with a lack of interceptions or clock management or some of the silly penalties that they that they endure hopefully they clean that up guys i can't tell that i think the jets are a playoff team i simply don't but i do think they're gonna be smarter better and tougher than last year well what how how like where do we get to in the season where some of the already whispers about how what he johnson's looked into mike tomlin and what that could be like what what point of the season are we gonna be at wrote it there yeah
so the clock is already yeah it's like the jets have been i'm not saying that guys like al grou and bulls and adam gays weren't huge swings but they never got the hardball and since rex Ryan and you know maybe being the only big big swing true they haven't really gone for it in that way tomlin would be really going for it and there would be a massive swing and it would be such a statement you know they obviously entertained variable two years ago they went after him pretty bullishly and variable shows the patriots i i i i i i i and glenn was obviously uh... an alternative to variable and so that's all right question is how many we could take for those rumors in those vispers to get louder and louder and would might come on even want to come here um... i believe there's a lot for there's a lot for the jets to do this year and hopefully they can win some game for those those vispers can get a little quieter the local market peter shragor joining us here on dawn on in rozenberg how surprised do you that there isn't a veteran to back up jino in this important season for the head coach
if god forbid jino you know polls and aron rogers in week one there they're really gonna have club nick be the guy yeah i mean this is the way the rogers in built club nick played well this summer they feel pretty good about them as a potential long shot to be the guy um... you know moving forward and if they win seven or eight games they probably play themselves out of the archmaning state so club nick might be that young guy on the roster uh... i don't like it i didn't like it when the bear said Tyler baygent as the backup to kill the boy is his wiki year i usually like having that case kingdom type or that josh macount type that was there for dawn old but it's raster management and i'm not sure if there's a new year that's when he's on a pretty good job building this roster and if he doesn't think they need another veteran on the roster and they want club nick there that means that club nick won the job is the number two guy is actually able to take care of his i peter less regs love talking with you by the way thanks for joining us uh... team or a player uh... that has to make a statement this season is there a team or a player that you're like you it's now or never you've got to
make a statement this year who is it i love that the statement um... since we've been going to like you can't let's go for years and oh and then have us talk about you next off season as like up to the book and then there under the option down on first take and get up and do all these different you know media things never just assuming the bangles or playoff team in the middle of the three years and no more excuses they've brought in all the defense of players that got sexy dex from the giant to the tenth overall pick like bangle should be a playoff team and i'm not saying that tailors job or joe borrows job in the line but as a franchise it would be an embarrassment them to grow in on defense bring back eleven starters on offense and not make the well peter i know you're really busy thanks so much uh... good luck the big day with peter shrek david tomorrow at two p.m. on e-s-p-n and we're looking forward to watching that and having you on during the course of the season thanks a lot good luck with the show boy glad to share it thank you all right peter's going to be joining us a lot i love shrakes now it's just good to just talk full of action and you know it's times kind of limited so we want to try to get in as much as we could
uh... i said i know i come across sound like you know and the deputusic negative about the giants i'm not negative very high on what you said don't make sense i just and i know he he like there's always four new playoff teams but that's both that's both conferences right i think dallas can be a playoff team that was not a playoff team last correct i think washington could be i mean the listen last time they had a whole to get the issues though i get it but last time that i'll be quarterback they went to the championship game i know i know i got it i don't know who but i'm just saying of all the teams that we mentioned to the nfc which one of you surpassing are the injuries going to catch up with the packers was chicago a flu class year here we go ready all right so the dog the nfc we're going to do right right so it's so we get a little bit the new teams in the playoffs so the cowboys didn't make it a command is to make the giant said make it out of that group dallas ok but the eagles you expect will stay in so you're not taking we're going to play who you taking out right uh the bears
and the packers and the lines right those are the lines didn't make the playoffs last no no the packers and the bears i can't see those teams missing the playoffs but if you tell me the injuries are going to catch up with the packers one of those teams are winning the division right and i would think one of them would be a wild card team all right and i think the lines could be back the airline have got in because they won the division because the division as we know like everybody sucked right everybody was under 500 uh we can't get the South could yeah South not going to produce a well just going to be a division winner right okay and then you got the west and it's it's the sea hawks rams 49ers i can't make it yeah yeah four nine was 14 wins 12 wins and 12 wins that's what that division gave you now could the 49ers drop off sure i see that's what that's the team i'm watching as well as as a that's a fallout team but you've only given me one fallout team again it's who you taking out you know you told me the cowboys are going to go i i i i feel like Dallas is a playoff they buy listen if the giants beat him week one you know and that that can change the narrative
i understand injuries take place we're we're basing it on what happened last year you're right losing tonsils gonna be huge for Washington yeah so even though they're getting their quarterback back uh isn't i think the giants are going to be better no question but can they jump because i think it's going to take 10 wins so are you going to jump from from three to 10 wins seven more wins that's a lot man it's a lot i'm hoping it happens believe me i'll be the first jumping up and down if it happened it's going to be tough i mean again at the top seed was Seattle bearers were the two seed yeah okay Eagles three seed panthers by default was a four seed right because they won the division then you got the ramp this is the bottom of the bracket the rams the Niners and the Packers that is who you taking out i know who tell me the team that's going to fall out enough that you jump in stop Jordan
run on tweeted that the john harbors says we'll see on sunday if malignant neighbors plays versus the cowboys but harbors says i think he's ready to go yeah there's just the games been sure of course it is well it's just the game has been sure that that that's going to make it exciting and you can actually hear john say i think he's ready to go man we'll see though i mean just it's still four days five days four days until we play so if he's ready to go and he feels like he's ready to go and he's he's you know it's and he'll play if he's not he's not ready we'll play so let me get it right if he's not ready to go he's not going to play but if he's ready to go he will play yes i had that right you have it exactly right so that's just the game has been shipped looks like he's going to play but the first words out of his mouth was yeah he looks like he's ready to go yeah he look and he's look like he's ready to go from the day of the camp start it's wild so and that was a month ago so now i think that he's going to be ready but it's going to be fun to just see it all play itself out i don't think i can be your friend

by selecting work mode available on plus and pro plants. get a chance to watch that and then and then i'm going to say perfect well i'm taking your football calls to one hundred nine one nine three seven seven six and i'm excited about the giants but i think it's going to take ten wins and to jump from three ten or four to ten excuse me that's a lot to ask but hey stranger things have happened as he said who had the seahawks you know going from an on playoff team to winning the super bowl injuries things that you don't even take into account happen in a long NFL season i know it's short to seventeen games but a lot can happen and change
over the seventeen games and the thing that i'm excited about not i'm not excited about go starting on to which i think they very well may because you've got two tough games with the cowboys at home on Sunday night football and the Monday night football against the Rams whoever i think is going to win the super bowl you are getting them coming back from Australia but still that's going to be a lot of heavy lifting but i think if they're own two but they're competitive in both games you figure out john harbohl can figure it out yeah right they're own two but the next two weeks look winable and you can be two and two and a blink but when you've got you know Brian dable who's on the hot seat or you've got joe judge who's never been there before i then you don't have any confidence that you're going to be able to get up from oh and two you can honestly say if the giants lose their first two games this isn't the same old giants because john harbohl is there so even though they got two tough games it it lightens up after that and then you have that big game week five against the commanders where you could be of get a huge win against the divisional team be three and two and nobody will remember that you're own two now with the jets peter made it seem like
we were talking yesterday that maybe he's not on the hot seat now clearly he is in peter's mind and you're going to have to win some games otherwise there's going to be a coaching change yeah let me ask you this with everything that you know about the jets the quarterback situation no veteran backup all that where would you have the jets finishing of john harbohl was their head coach wow and the same quarterback everything's the same except i replace Aaron Glenn with john harbohl yeah i i still think the rosters are so thin it's not deep yet right like it doesn't there's still a lot of prove it with that roster that i don't i don't like as he is he worth one or one win more to wins more if you're thinking like shrag said five five wins right i don't know if harbohl makes it six or seven wins maybe that's interesting maybe i can't i don't know
because i don't look there's a lot of variable there's the variable of are they going to run or is you know is jino going to pass and if jino's passing are they protecting him because when jino's under pressure jino's that is worst we saw that in in Vegas we saw it here with the jets he is terrible in pressure he panics he throws the ball away he gets rid of the ball quick he does not like pressure so what's it going to look like i don't know what kind of talent is around they they do have some talent i think sedic's going to is close to being available which would be amazing so there's a lot i still need to see don't i'm being you know i'm not trying to have ducked the question i just don't know if with this roster is harbohl taking them you know to eight nine wins i don't think this is coaching but here's here's what's interesting to me that's going to get you like the roster is the quarterback situation i'm surprised by your answer scaring me and i'm going to answer
i'm going to react to my surprise or view with another question all right all right how much better was brine dable then aranglin they will give away games too right but who's better coach you'd have to say dable because of the the year he had when they went to the playoffs and they want to play off game okay yeah he was coach the year so i mean he just he's a better coach right now right and the giants won four games yeah but people are excited about john harbohl i see you know because they're better coached and the giants are going to go from four wins to ten but i'm giving you john harbohl as the jets coach and you're like he's worth maybe one but if you win roster to roster wouldn't you say the giants are a better roster it's a bit i think the jets have more weapons they got the better wide receiver right with neighbors being questionable health wise neighbors just a better wide receiver okay i love care it we care it's great i mean hall holds better than cam scatibu right now is going up you know
starter to starter but what what what conditions all it is is all ready to go or is you know but that's not why you're thinking the jets are going to have a struggled season is because you know that the halls not going to be a hundred percent right away would you take darto would you take genome now of course i would take dart dart with the giants offensive line to me is still more intriguing than genome with the jets and the jets offensive line is way better than the giants not that much of a different that listen you could say the giants are better but it's not that much better like to worry you know that the john harbohl is going to have this impact i think i see you're doing though you're right and the reason i'm going there to go in there and the reason and i and where i'm leading to is what i think everybody is looking at including peter including a lot of the pundits which is what all the games the giant squandered automatically making them wins because john harbohls here and i don't think sports works that way okay i thought you were going to say something else because this was going to be my counter argue okay there's here's the difference in why there's there's the optimism on the jet side of things to me at a at a whack it's at a whack
because the schedule suggests the jets have games that are winnable especially later in the year right quote unquote winnable which again the audacity of a team that has the third worst record in the NFL over the last 15 years i know and you have the audacity to call anything winnable but that's what we're doing whereas the giant schedule is tough it's a tough schedule you got the Eagles twice yeah the cowboys yes the commanders to watch the giant schedule is tough the jet schedule early has some challenges but it they have a pocket in the middle of season that if they're on the verge they could they could be they could like almost like fugacy contention like remember when they were two in three and they were first place in the division in week five and yet solos still got fired yeah right technically they were in first place because everybody was two and three but that's fugacy like that's why i think the giants face a tougher year based on schedule
but it doesn't mean that the giants can't be very competitive right because we don't know what teams are until i i i i'm just a little surprised that everybody is that bullish on the giants i'm happy that they are what do you know but i think they're going to be i just want to be back on the rails i'm worried that they're going to do everything i think they're going to do they're going to win seven array games and people are going to go oh they make the playoffs disappointing i think you're building it up too much i think there's a lot of work to be done here you still have a very young quarterback you're you're your wide receiver room is thin right now i i like them but i don't i i'm really surprised that people think they're a playoff team 1-800-919-277 is big but let's let's get into the psyche of a giant fan pomegranate cracker thanks for listening to about dawn hon and Rosenberg podcast i don't want to know how the sausage is made but i just want to know it's good here more of dawn alan and peter weekday after new starting at three on eight eighty ESPN the ESPN new york app and your smart speakers
