On Twitter and Instagram, we of course are streaming live on YouTube and by the way, tomorrow, this station, DPHR Rothenberg. My guys, Don Hahn and Rosenberg make their debut on MSD Network. So, man, get ready for it. It's going to be popping. But we're here today to cover a whole lot because, listen, I was outside this morning getting the workout in. And two things struck me as I was driving home and we'll get to the Yankees in a moment. It's a bit nippy out here. Snippy. Now, you can still get away with wearing the short sleeve t-shirt. I don't think we can quite phrase today as like hoody season. Like we're still a little bit away from that. But long sleeve would probably be the proper way to go. But the nippy weather is evidence that football season is among us already started in college with a bunch of controversy. We'll get to that.
But the NFL year, two days away, y'all, two days away. We've been previewing it for what feels like years talking, and that's a giant, it's in different iterations of the same conversation. But it's here two days from now. And so I'm excited about that. The second thing that hit me was the privilege of kids being out of school this summer. No traffic. And that's about to creep back up on us because flying by, easing our way through the streets, no stress. I had to hock my horn at someone this morning because you know, we all get caught up in, you know, not paying attention to the light change. But it's going to hit different out here three days from now when the kids go back to school because you know, the school buses, it's on and popping. And so take it all in. We are here football season schools back in session. By the way, the NBA year tips off a month from now.
Where you're, and it still feels weird saying this, I can't believe I'm uttering it. And I feel like race on Tiago is just already like smiling ear to ear. Your defendant champion, New York Knicks. Tip off their season. A month away. What do we got a month and 13 days? We'll be at the garden to watch LeBron and the six is beat the next. But we'll talk to you more. Ask the show for Christmas 819-3776. As I mentioned, we are streaming live on YouTube. So get at us in the comments. Heavy because I want to talk to you. I want to talk to you. We'll get to you guys in a moment. You know where we have to start. We of course have to start with the beloved New York Yankees. Now listen, the reason why this particular weekend didn't bother me as much as it normally would is because I had already accepted their fates as a wildcard team.
And on Friday afternoon, I did outline the path to making this division chase more realistic, which included them entering that series with the raise that gets started on the 22nd. So 15 days from now. I did outline that they have to be trailing by just a game like that's the most realistic scenario. You're not sweeping Tampa. You also have to sweep them in order to get the tiebreaker. So for me to believe you can truly win this division, you have to be a game back at the very least going into that series. And right now, they're four behind 12 to play before that four game set. But deep down, I told y'all they weren't winning this division. It wasn't happening. But because any day that doesn't involve them gaining ground on Tampa is a bad day. I don't care that the raise lost. So it's like, well, Tampa lost or at least the Yankees didn't lose ground. I don't care about that. That doesn't matter to me. It's September 7th. If it's July 7th, sure, we can talk about, hey, they went 500 on a road trip. They didn't lose any ground on the rate.
That's fine two months ago. But it's money time. You have to be in the business of actually moving up to catch them breaking news. I know. And the problem is the raise of giving you multiple chances to gain some ground. They had three separate three game losing streaks, post all star break right out the break. They lost four straight to the red socks, which gave Boston some life. They just dropped two or three to the meds. And so you've had your opportunities. But the Yankees and this was always going to be the problem in having to essentially play perfect baseball with an offense that at times just decides not to show up for chunks of innings have made this hill look steeper than it really was. And that's how we end up with the fake comeback yesterday before Mason Miller packed them up. And so look, I don't come away angry. I'm not going to sit here just, you know, passionately upset because of the series loss of the plot.
I've now shifted my focus because right now we are officially officially at the apex of Aaron judge watch. We're here. So he's going to take some BP today live BP at the stadium. And the thought was he could be activated tomorrow. That's what everyone was teasing. And then, you know, the more people say it, it gives oxygen to it. But at the moment, I guess it appears less likely the Yankees aren't telling us much. And I understand right now, though, if you go to any website, the most expensive ticket of this series is the opener. And the Sherlock Holmes part of my brain is trying to figure out that if everyone is bought into the idea that judge is coming back tomorrow. That's going to be his debut. Or is it just that school starts Thursday? So the most optimal time to get to any of these games would be Tuesday night. But Aaron judge coming back at some point this week. And that in itself has kind of distracted me from feeling miserable about my concession of this division to the race.
Side note, I mentioned this on the weekend show. It would be kind of dope. If judge came back Friday night September 11 against the meds. That will be kind of dope. He returns and all the buzz in the stadium. It's an emotional night. We know we'll have moments of silence 25 year anniversary of a devastating, the most horrific day in the history of our city. And if he comes back and has his like piazza moment where we're like off we go, that'll be kind of fire. I would tend to believe he'll be back earlier than that. Just based on where he is and his progression. But that I think that would be kind of dope. Anyway, judge does appear to be close to returning. And we'll see when that happens, whether it's Tuesday or Wednesday. But let's be clear. Let's be clear.
My expectation with or without judge being peak judge is the Yankees better when the American lake. I can see the division because you're simply running out of time. And though the rays of kind of falling off. I don't want to say falling off of a cliff, but there's certainly not the rays we saw in the first half of the season. I can see the American legies. Cool. But when it comes to October and this team's chances of contending, I don't want excuses. I don't want to hear about injuries. I don't want to hear about some adjustment period. So far the Yankees and judges absence have actually outperformed when he got hurt. Many of us thought seasons over, especially because we were wrestling with the idea of, you know, he may not come back. We just didn't know. And he's going to see the, you know, special doctors to determine what the severity of the injury is and it threatened his season.
But they've over achieved. They've gone 44 and 30, 38 without him. The offense is also a lot better than the crap we complained about at the All Star break. And this is very important to you had a chance to address your needs at the deadline. And I guess you got to give cashman credit for Louise Garcia Jr. who all of a sudden has become one of the best players on the team. Though for some odd reason, man, just a logic to plan against lefties, put your best players in the lineup. Let's cut this nonsense out. Anyway, we don't have to talk about mission statement. We don't have to discuss Montrose, championship or bus. Let's just keep it to this year to avoid the noise about spoiled Yankee fans and the times of change. Cut it all out. What we're not going to do is this spend months talking about how weak the American League is and even with Judge Hurt and not knowing if he's going to come back anointing the Yankees as the favorites in the American League.
And then we get to September all of a sudden everything has changed. We're not going to do that. And so my expectation is as it should be for most of the fan base, if not all, they win the American League regardless. I understand we've had multiple freed injuries. We've had multiple redone injuries, Cody Belinger. He goes out, Trent Christian. He's now in the IO, though some Yankee fans might feel like it's actually in the best interest of the team for him not to be involved in the in the equation. I get all the injuries for no crews. You don't have to explain it to me. What I'm saying is this team as presently constructed and as they get healthier should look should be looked upon as the favorites in the American League, even if they don't win the division. And I also had to do some self correction because I kept making the case man playing an extra series, having your rotation compromised.
That sounds all too familiar. Like what why is that all because it happened last year when they lost out on the division to the J's and then had to play the J's in the ALDS didn't have home field and then they got punched in the mouth. Couldn't recover from it, but here's what's different that J's team put the fear of God in my heart. You watch them and you're like, no, man, this is something different. I don't feel that way watching Tampa with all due respect to the race. Every time I'm whether it's at S and Y or in the studio at ESPN New York, I will just like casually asked folks, are you a believer in the race because like maybe I just have them wrong. Maybe it's a little bias because you know, low payroll bias and it's not like most of the listen to the best analyst that we have. All of the folks who are considered to be quote unquote experts.
Are we fearful of Tampa the way we were last year with the J's like the I test tells me no. And so I yes, you would rather win the division of course you would rather have the one seed and play fewer series. I got it. And it's a little bit of a disadvantage to be on the other side of it. Don't have to explain that to me. What I'm saying to you is regardless of that the Yankees should still beat them. And so we get to seasons end and you are not at the very least in the world series. I already know what the press conference sounds like. We know what it sounds like. Oh, well, man, we lost our best player for three months and hey, Cole was coming back from Tommy John search. Cole who got lit up yesterday to the point where I'm like man, do the are the pod raise banging garbage cans underneath the way that they were lighting him up to start the game. It was insane. And he looked bewildered. And it's funny when dominion has that got off a play in right field.
So you can see like on his face, he was a little disappointed and agitated, but it's like dog when you give up three straight home runs to start the game. Can't really fault anyone else but yourself. That's a quick aside back to the Yankees. I don't want to hear about the excuses. I just don't. If judge comes back and he looks like a shell of himself, you should still win this American league. I can't spend months talking about how weak it is. And then give the Yankees excuse. We talk about we also talk about how tough the New York media and man sure, tough to an extent on certain teams. But we just let the Yankees skate. It just then become well, you do know Brian Cashman is dessert a deserving of an extension because they make the playoffs every year. And it's like, wait a minute. I distinctly remember they missed the playoffs in 2023. Like that did happen.
I remember from 2013 to 2016 they missed the playoffs three years, three or four years. But we just like to forget all of that. I do remember they got spunched in the mouth by the Astros in 22 and the American League championship series embarrassed by Houston post cheating. I also remember while you did get to the world series in 24, man, the things we complained about all season long revealed itself in game five. It not just game five throughout the series kicking the ball around undisciplined lack of focus. They got shellac. So at some point, all we're looking for, all we are looking for is some accountability. And that doesn't make you ungrateful. That doesn't make you unappreciative. That doesn't make you a spoilt brat. It just makes you a passionate fan that sits here today on September 7th and watches the Vegas odds as the Yankees are favorites to win the American League.
Reflect what we all know to be true. That despite a 500 road trip, despite losing two of three to the Padres, this team as presently constructed as we are officially on Aaron Judge watch should still win this a.m. Whether it's as a wildcard team or as a division winner. And once we get to seasons end, if that doesn't happen, the excuses we've got no time for. We have in a comment real quick Richard you shall says size of grown man and his beard and mustache don't meet lol maybe that's why he struck out at the salt block a now.
I am not familiar with that being some type of a correlation like the failure of your beard and mustache which I do actually think me time pull out my phone. I'm not a face I do you get the impression Ray that my beard and mustache don't meet I guess there's a little bit of a room here on my left side but I look like a me it's me right how do you feel that that's something I'm really looking at yeah I don't know why you'd be staring at my face. How do you feel about this and I guess I owe you an apology. So in the lead up to Don soft fucking. Cassie and I were having a just a conversation about like what to expect and this this is really this is really sad to say but you were among the like pieces of material. And it as much as we love Ray Ray was at the way it's like just don't be Ray Santiago out there.
Damn. Great appreciate that. But here's the thing karma struck me because no pun intended I struck out. Struck out in a slow pit soft walking that bad day at the dish so now so now we get to share this the time now did you only strike out once. Think it was twice oh see now I struck out only once I'm not as bad as you. Definitely a bad day so I could say listen I'd I'd never had that happen to me before and I used to go to the softball game. At least a decade. Yeah that's that's that's not regular and was that your first time I feel like you've been before. No so I think this might be like my second time I haven't been in a minute. I haven't been since I want to say it was like 18 19 but it's still no excuse because I think that at some point like our audience is like hey if you're striking out in a slow pit softball game that should disqualify you from having any takes about sports.
You would think but so I talk about this with Rick a lot and sometimes that particular hand quite I coordination can be a problem for people unless we're not going to talk about excuses I've done the I've done the game for for several years. So and that's the first time that had ever happened. Bad day at the dish it has a problem too because it's not like I'm not athletic bro like I play it for you think you think and then you as you get older you you get a little humbled like how often do you play. I don't say that's the thing I don't I don't play softball at all you would think but when when I'm going to find the time to play. And then we juxtapose that with like Don hit in dingers right it's like man and not to do the age thing but he's got you by three decades. And don is a machine though not I've watched on for years like don it's effortless it's not just him hitting home runs my man was like George Lombard Jr. like pre six hours and six games like short stop I mean making plays.
He's he's awesome. He is awesome. J.M.B. junior 82 says what's up Thai checking in from Charlotte North Carolina walk in the dog hashtag Brooklyn tech shut up Brooklyn tech they were really good in handball man our high school couldn't beat them in handball markets black monster as we transition back to the baseball. He's like why so negative Thai we good like what I offered in the monologue wasn't negative that was positive me saying I expect them to win the American league I don't know how that gets misconstrued as negative. It's positive the Yankees team now we haven't seen them be fully functional because it's amazing there's this rule with the Yanx that they're not allowed to welcome guys back from the I.L. Without someone getting hurt right before and so now Grisham he's got a great to hamstring and look I won't engage in the nastiness and what I proceed to be reckless behavior of celebrating a guy gets hurt because that to me is just bush lead.
Who do we know is on that before yeah right. But what I will say is it does present the Yankees who were going to have like problems building out their lineup with a little bit of an easier paths of doing so because you know and we saw this on full display this weekend Spencer Jones is their best option at center field now look is he great is he a gold glove or no. But he is in my eyes ten times better than Trent Grisham and and Spencer Jones has kind of flown under the radar because we spent so much of our energy killing Volpy the young guy and then anointing Lombard Jr. to the young guy that Spencer Jones is hanging there and since he's come back up he looks like a completely different player. So I don't and I disagreed with the people who were like all the stand injuries of blessing in the sky I'm like fam he's third all time in franchise history in home runs for the Yankees third all time behind Bernie and Geter we know and we saw it not last year but the year before he is money in the post season I am not going to say that losing that guy is a blessing in disguise for a team that is a great thing.
I'm not saying losing him for for the rest of the season is a blessing in the skies now boom did offer up yesterday that there's a chance he could be coming back. I don't know man because every time we say that he ends up getting hurt again eight hundred nine one nine three seven seven six batting lead off us on the program today is Frank in sias it what's up Frank. I'm good morning happy everyday time happy labor day mind you was going on. I agree with you about Jones he's had a great week I think he was three for three on Tuesday Friday he got a big RBI double Saturday Sunday he was great. He's really developing he's really coming along. I agree he's I think he's better than Dominion's aggression in center field that he could play he could play multiple positions in the outfield.
We need him we need his his back him along with Belonger and rice. I know I know people as have been saying on ESPN that you know well was been batting 260 since the old star break I think he's regressing again and he made a bad twirl out in the center field. I believe was sadly I just can't rely on the guy hit the ground's out into double plays he strikes out in big spots at least Jones is getting finally hits. I don't you know I know him but is very talented and who knows what it would be but he's very talented I just don't know if this is the time to get to develop somebody I feel more comfortable with Rosario 30. I don't know man you I don't look Rosario picked up a nice little infield single yesterday that helped the Yankees rally but yeah I'm good with Rosario being on the bench I'm good with that.
I don't need I don't see I met Rosario the sample sizes large enough for us to come to the conclusion he ain't good. I know I know I don't want to about the reason why I just stop I don't have the time of year to develop one bond because we need everything we have we need all the the most reliable bats that the plate and I know he's fast he steals bases he makes great plays he's very talented. Yes but you name four things that are very important Frank those four things are of the utmost importance being fast stealing bases he is and look he had a tough stretch into a six games but excellent defensively and he does have some pop in his bed. So yes and I look I appreciate the call Frank it's not ideal to as you are dealing with some holes in your lineup to be out here developing players but when he first came up we were wowed by his talent and I still come back to and this is like an e measurable he has the it factor he wants the smoke man like the moment isn't going to be too big for him.
And the defense were like you can look around the field for the Yankees and we saw it yesterday not that the mean is going to be like a big factor into what this team does in October but they've got some question marks like there are just moments where there's like lots of days ago undiscipline losing focus long bar and again like making this argument a couple of weeks after my man had six errors and a spin of six games is. It's not great but I still think that he is a tremendous defensive shortstop and because like before we even got a chance to see him he was marketed as that it was hey you are going to see the defense before you see his offensive prowess and again like I'm not excusing or ignoring that the stretch that he had that calls like massive concern.
But I trust him I trust him I really do eight hundred nine one nine three seven seven six we come back there are a couple of baseball topics from this weekend that falls under the umbrella of like baseball culture and how there are certain behaviors that have been accepted that I just find to be non-sense. So we'll do that and then transition to the NFL at some point in the nine o'clock hour college football a lot of controversy my man Joe Leo just answered this one question for me because we will break it down further later on in the show. Joe Leo do I have your attention? So you do. Okay so you're a Michigan fan. Yes I am. Do you feel like Western Michigan got robbed in that game Saturday night? Absolutely they did but Michigan's one and only time the Oklahoma.
Okay I love the take because there are a lot of like homers out there who would say no by letter so I love the fact that while a you can pump your chest out because it's what your fandom dictates but B you can acknowledge. Yeah we kind of got lucky. No two football players are exactly alike and the same is true off the field that's why State Farm gifts to know you so they can help personalize coverage for your life and budget.
Like a good neighbor State Farm is there. Thanks for listening to the D.P. A.T. Rowan Rothenberg podcast looking for more access to the show why? Because you know why follow us on Twitter Instagram and Facebook at dr on ESPN. Hey we got jolly. I'll talk about here we go listen the question shouldn't be are you proud of what happened that a W is a W I understand it. But when we've got like separate clocks it feels a little. Slimey. Slimey. It feels grimy like that's not how sports are supposed to work. It feel like you know Ray keep it a stack man imagine during the NBA finals. This happened and the nicks were on the wrong like the cat tipped out of bounds play and let's just change what happened he tips it out of bounds.
We see the clock expire but all of a sudden they go back and look at it and it's like none as first you have another shot and then castle hits a dagger. I would lose my damn mind what are you talking about. Police. Because again you you're not going to tell me I didn't see what I saw the clock said zero on everybody's television screen. What are you talking about the ball touched his hand one second ago. I didn't not on my screen it didn't not not on the television screens not on anybody else's television screen. What are we talking about. Yo they went to some like clock that they pulled out of a desk that we had never even heard of. It's and I love that they're doing to play by play down the line man bleep all that because first of all you don't see when the clock starts. And they put my man and this is a friend of mine Noah Eagle in a bad spot where he's got the final call that that's awesome. And now people are ripping them for it because they're like yo man look at you it's just a bizarre bizarre ending of a guy I've never seen anything like that.
And the question for you joe Leo. Shouldn't be how are you proud of this it really just is yo your team was on the cusp of a horrifying loss to start a car witness 10 year. And he was getting blasted on social media. Rightfully so I was right there with him it was cooked. But you escape with the you have to feel dirty I do you feel like you would swim you were swimming in mud and now you walk home and it's disgusting. Any Michigan fan truly celebrating this win is fooling themselves and any fan I get kids get caught up in the moment and they storm the field. But we're really storming the field for a win over western Michigan a team that we were 27 and a half point favorites to beat going into the game. I thought that was a little much I think anybody hanging on the rim with this is a little much I don't understand it I feel bad for western Michigan.
In my heart of hearts Michigan is oh and is oh and one and there's a lot to clean up and this team has a lot. Further to go then where we thought. This team was at starting the year so wait so here's how I took that. You taking shots of my man race Santiago there how that's what my brain goes what did you say about Michigan. What the a lot to clean up we do there's a lot to clean up after a nail biting victory not after a 40 point win. That's right. I said what I said I got I got no regrets about that and you stand in our business I never never stopped. It's but what is it three years now never stopped. Yeah but he just try to put you on how to properly use the phrase there's a lot to clean up and you're not here for it again I was validated as the season progressed. Like for mighty Jones like to say listen to me now but believe me I'm listen I'm never wrong I might be early but I'm never wrong.
Yo so Joe because you're the Michigan fan it's weird I don't know why are you a Michigan fan so when I was looking to go to colleges. I really wanted to go to a school with a football program and the very first college football game and I watched after I was like okay let me. Try to get the lay of the landscape was a Michigan game and it was. Denard Robinson's first game as a Michigan Wolverine and I fell in love with him then I watched the. The fat five documentary and was hooked unfortunately I didn't have the grades to go to Michigan but I've I've rooted for. Michigan football since 2010 okay. 2009 2010 and Michigan basketball up until I went to Iona. Alright so look don't apologize I'm not apologizing for I'm not saying you are I'm this is not directed at you I'm saying if you are a fan of Michigan you don't apologize that you take the win first and foremost now that we're here we might as well get into it first and foremost and I promise we'll get back to the baseball.
This obviously gets buried but that's a hell of a jet throw by Bryce Underwood under duress I'm glad you brought that up pummeled and gives JJ Buchanan a shot to make the catch and this is by the way that rare case where on the previous play he he kind of gets rewarded for making a bad throw like the ball was uncatchable it going on a bounds if this is like a regular hail Mary attempt. Where the receivers get a chance in there in the play the games over it goes straight out of bounds and so now he's rewarded allegedly with with with a second on the clock and shout out to Ty Blackledge who multiple times before that play is diagraming where Buchanan is telling the audience that's where the ball should go look out for him bottom of the screen and then it ends up in his hands but again got lost. Bryce Underwood hell of a throw man. I'm glad you brought that up because even though I think we can all agree that it's Fugazi that a second was put back on the clock you still have to make a play and Bryce Underwood and JJ Buchanan made a play so I'm cautiously optimistic that this will put the season on the right track for Michigan the game against Oklahoma.
Has my attention a little bit more so than it did going into the weekend but I'm happy that Michigan's win and oh. All right so here's my issue. Kyle Witton him asked after the game and we have the audio about the game winning Hail Mary well obviously the extra seconds huge as I watched the first Hail Mary end in the ball sealed out of the back of the end zone as I get to the clock I was pretty sure that one second left. I don't need to hear the rest of it. That's cool. Look what do you want on the say? You can be honest. Sure there's one second but did you see the cameras catch him as the cast was happening. We're out of time. Yes. Yes. I was pretty sure there was one second. So don't hit me with what did you want on the say you can be honest and say listen I didn't think we I thought time expired. I'm glad they went to the review and you know awarded us that one second which you know we didn't see.
You can't say that you can't say that but you know because you don't need your brand new head coach the big 10 you can't bury your conference in the first game of your season. That's not burying the conference. Yes it is. I'm watching the clock. It goes to zero. Listen I understand that you can't say that whatever bury the conference I don't care whatever but bro you're not going to look at that play. They'll go back into the lock rooms and your office compose yourself and come outside. Come to that press conference and then tell me that I didn't see what I saw. You're not going to tell me that I'm sorry. Listen first of all let's let's work in progression here. I understand it was an emotional win and I can't even say folks were no pun intended a second away from flaming him because they were. Already doing that that you are on social media he was trending that man was getting annihilated you know why because everyone watching the game and in the damn stadium saw the clock expire so to say that you knew there was a second left.
It took replay officials sitting in a studio or a truck or whatever the case may be to slow mo it frame by frame in order to figure out that there was allegedly a second left so I don't want to hear that. What do you expect them to say so omitted don't say anything yeah you know we watch the play we were waiting for the review and there was a second left don't say I knew this whole time. My man was wrong with you. You had no idea you ain't got to lie Craig you had no idea. That's BS and you're going to sit here and defend that range of Leo. I'm not defending that don't put watching my mouth the only reason I'm not defending that at all the only reason why I will defend it is because what do you want him to say no no what do you want him to say what do you want to say. I don't know what I want to say I'll tell you what I don't want him to say fair fair but I just I don't understand how being put in that position you say anything less than what you said you're lying you're lying through your teeth.
Yeah so you so you are condoning lying but again it's his first game as the head coach of Michigan the university isn't a transition in basically everything is a thing. In terms of athletics. I get lying through your teeth I get it I don't I don't agree with it I wouldn't have done it but you can't bury your conference in the first game. You are because yes one tie it took the big 10 an hour and a half to put out a statement this is the problem since it like this reminds me of. And it's it's not apples to apples but follow me for a moment it's like when we get really annoyed at Aaron bull. And how he will continue to defend guys like allys well actually allys and says has been really good behind the plate and it's like non man he's been awful and the response to that is well what do you want him to do air out his players as if those are the only two options as if it's like
celebrating you know he's he's Johnny Bench or crush him no there are in between. And so I'm not expecting Kyle Wittenham to bury the big 10 yeah that's awful I don't know how that happened yeah that was a ridiculous decision I'm not expecting him to do that but you ain't got to lie about it we know what it is we saw the cameras on you after the game. You don't have to say anything about getting lucky or being controversial just say we were standing there waiting for us to get sorted out and we are fortunate that you know the defender who had his foot out of bounds touched it with one second left we had another opportunity and we cashed in on it stop burying the big 10. It's not what that's doing at all and so the big 10 puts out a statement attached the video of what they ruled on and look I get to tell full but I don't know man it's hard for me to watch a game see the clock strike zero watch that get overturned on a technicality and saying yeah they got it right I also again like I said last segment I don't know that based on the video they drop it started at the same time.
Here's what I do know the announcers they thought the game was over everyone in the stadium and playing with the exception exception of Wittenham apparently thought the game was over but this frame by frame break down luckily allows Michigan to get a second chance and I come away thinking they got robbed and now the conspiracy this fuels conspiracy theories it's like yeah man would you rather have a word. Weston Michigan when this game or will we prefer Michigan come out on top what we're watching on the screen should be a reflection of what's happening in the game. Right before the play by the way the official says to the game operator put nine seconds on the clock so in theory the clocks should be in sync not just throughout the game but with nine seconds left there is an announcement by the leader fish.
Set the game clock tonight and all of a sudden it's not in sync it feels grimy to me I've got no dog in the fight I couldn't care less who won the damn game but it does wreak of a process and we say that's a lot about college football that is unserious with the random clock come from by the way underrated I don't want to say hero but one of the most impressive things about this. Lance Taylor the head coach of western Michigan would have gotten no argument for me had he gone off had he just said you know what take the fine I'll pay it no problem and just went ham on the officials and the big 10 after the game and he elected not to do that he was poised he took it on the chin which might have been one of the most impressive things in this whole situation. Also ended by saying this and I'm curious to get your take on it rain and no joleo.
It's not going to be a popular take. Haven't seen it anywhere. If you're western Michigan. How about you not give up a Hail Mary. So you're right I totally agree with you just just make the stop one more time as you did before but man that's got to be mentally deflating to have it taken away from you like that so it's tough to refocus and know that you got to make the stop one more time after you've already done it and you definitely feel like you've been wrong there but yes still you got to stop it. You do have to stop it especially when you've contained them pretty much the entire game we talk about hey listen great throw by Bryce on the one. Bryce on the wood didn't do anything throughout that entire game not a damn thing. Yeah so I'm not going to do it one more time on the like it is so emotionally fracturing to think you pull the pull this upset in this game against that team you're celebrating and now all of a sudden you got to come back for one more play.
But again it's not it's different if it's like some controversial. Passing a fair and now they're at the two yard line you still got a defend a Hail Mary. So again if you are a fan of western Michigan if you are anyone who feels they got robbed I'm totally with you and I spent the last 10 minutes talking about it but all I'm saying is just don't give up a Hail Mary. You would agree with that joe Leo you're the Michigan guy. I would agree with that make a play you made a play on the previous Hail Mary attempt do it again.
