You look like a bleeding leaf on YouTube. It amazes me you don't get hummeled every day. Our knob. I would love to leave you or leave if I ever saw you in person. You have the most irritating ugly face. I'd like like believe me. And this it's a nice shape pack.
Is not observing. I can't just get more of a breast than a pet. You know what? Brought to you my Dagger. Stino law. See they are not anymore though. No, not anymore. No, I got no breasts now. We love Dagestan law. So skinny Dave and Rick welcome back for the first incarnation of the fall. He's very skinny Dave. So we played earlier. John Harbaugh. There's something in the air because there's some Jim Harbaugh here. There's a little Jackson Dart. There's a theme to this. Coaches. Jim is wild. There's stuff he says. Coaches got got ornery over the last couple of days and providing me with a lot of good content for this. So you heard John earlier and I thought what I think has happened. Jordan has just pushed the boundaries too many times and now other other insiders and reporters are also following Jordan's lead and now they're just jumping all over poor John Harbaugh. And then the coaches like verbally berating them. Well, he's redrying the line. He said, listen, we want Game Week. Here's how it's going to roll.
And you know, Jordan, he doesn't back down. So Jackson Dart. He was not so so ornery. But I did find this interesting. So he was asked about the rivalry kind of be one sided. Natalie and his time obviously the giant but well proceeding him. And how he intends to change that. Like most rivalries that totally dominated. Yeah, I don't know if I've ever been on the other side of the rivalry. I mean, we lost one in college in Mississippi State. But I feel like Ole Miss has dominated that rivalry. Dominated all my high school ones. You know, just trying to stack them and build on that into the league today. I mean, ring between the lines. That kind of sounded like I don't intend to lose to any games. Like the confidence. Yeah, he does. I don't intend to do a whole lot of losing to those Dallas Cowboys. That's how it should be though. I mean, that's what you'd want. Well, I mean, it would be a little concerning. It feels like, yeah, I don't know. It's going to be a real tough one on Sunday night. I don't love our odds. I hope we don't get killed.
Because Raymond would be surprised if the Giants won. Would you guys be surprised if the Giants won? No. Surprised? Yeah. No. I think I'd be. It's not how I would expect. But Giants win 27-24. You're not like, wow. No. Because there's so there's still so many questions around Dallas is what Dallas's defense actually is going to be. I think Dallas is going to be a good football team. But it is intriguing. It has caught my attention. How many people have no are not only saying the Giants are going to be better than you think, but they're going to make the playoffs. Like there's there's there's notable people. No disrespect to Dave or Giants fans. Taking my nineers out and putting the Giants in. Like they're taking our spot. So I'm like, what do you remember Winston with the knee? That that you heard here first. If that happens, it could be the end of the show as we know it. No. RJ and I have persevered past more than that. I don't know if that's RJ right now thinks this is funny. Like Dan Sanding and he 710 and all these things. It's fun again.
If that happens, what James Winston is in victory formation because you guys smacked them so bad that he's taken victory knees. We'll probably lose him. You might. You might. You know where you be. He'd be over by the practice facility doing damage to that substation. Like that right now. Oh, I'd have to dig it out. Yeah. You have to dig that thing right now. This is a chopper five over the substation. What's happened? There's a man digging up the substations. All he has is a wrench in the level. I wonder where he got those things from. I don't even have it anymore. I need to give it back. You gave back your equipment. Yeah, they're gone. Why? Everything seemed to work well. I love how we have to flip the signs in between. I know they come in. I think Carlin was doing. It's like a, it's like a, an F1 pit crew out there. So Jim, someone that was near and dear to me, speaking to the nighters once upon a time, brother of John, he was asked about his focus level and outside distractions that are now going by the wayside because week one is here. September. It's time to play our first game. I support no cause. Four nerd domestic.
Out of the greatness of the Los Angeles Chargers complete focus on this game Sunday. Nothing else. So that's good. It's international or domestic. Supports nothing more than the charges. It's focused on that, not alone. We also said that Mike McDaniel is a genius. Yes. And he walks around with a pen and paper just to write down all the great stuff he learns. How about that? That is, that is some combination they do. It really is. I love both of them. When you got one that wears some of those conversations, you got the one that wears the same pair of khakis and cleats on the field. The other ones got got the, the joggers pulled up with fancy sneakers on. Yeah. And they're both like in their own right. Very interesting, unique guys. Yeah. I've been, oh, it must be dynamic. I gotta tell you, though, like, I think I could, we all could try to come up with something captivating for all these different teams. I, that's, that's the top of my list. Seeing what McDaniel does with Justin Herbert. Uh, I, I am very bullish on the charges this year. Very said that. Yeah. Like,
I, I think there's a real chance the charges go to the Super Bowl this season. Oh, yeah. Oh, it's a nice little prediction right there. Mm-hmm. Good for you. Look at you. So Western Michigan. You're talking about Jackson Dart, right? No, not Jackson. Are you talking about Justin Herbert really exercising the demons then? Uh, all of them. All the demons. Yeah. Oh. So we talked with Heather Denner, Jerler, about the Western Michigan, Michigan debacle. Lance Taylor. He's a head coach of Western Michigan. He's all jacked up too. Yeah, he is. He spoke to the media. Yeah, speak of another guy. I mean, Mike McDonald. I mean, last night I had, it has a five star defense beats of patriots and looks like he could bench press the entire state of Idaho. Yeah, he's like, he's like a fire hydrant quality that he's girthy. So Western Michigan head coach Lance Taylor had to throw a couple little barbs in as he declared his team is ready to move beyond the Michigan debacle. We've addressed it as a university. As a football team and a program, we will grow from it. We'll be better and stronger because of it,
and we've turned the page. So I'm not taking another second to address what happened on Saturday night. Our attention is now on mom. I can respect that. Our attention is now. He had just lost the Michigan in the most catastrophic way possible. And you have to order the phrase, our attention is now on mom. That's it. That's a step down and scheduling. That's a, I mean, what a terrible place to be, though. What are you supposed to do? No, it's awful. Awful. Having said that, though, in Heather, only reaffirm this. I think I'm selling all my Michigan stock every last bit of it. By the way, how and every, this is everyone is to blame. How off base was everyone thinking that this quarterback was the, was the real deal in a big time quarter. Well, I mean, the market told you that when you say I'm not saying that it wasn't the only part everyone, but to be that wrong. Yeah, we were wrong. Well, I assume you remember the videos once they, once they signed him, you remember the videos like or the, the, the still shots of him walking in and how like just massive. He looks
like, if you were going to build a quarterback, it would be, it looked like that. So you mentioned that he stinks. You mentioned he's being he stinks and the head coach, the head coach is co-witting him of the Michigan Wolverines. Cowating him said we had an semi-astrid day that he will not promise Bryce Underwood. That's the quarterback that we're speaking about of Michigan. That his starting spot is his in perpetuity. Well, Bryce Underwood was delivered that news yesterday speaking to the media. The reaction to the coach, the game's comments about how the, your job is permanent. Um, the coach comes about that. Yeah, he said that your job is an infinite, you know, that's the starter. That's cool. Uh, I see that. So what's your, what's your ad? That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. See, I don't like that. How's that cool? Yeah, it's not cool. But it's, I don't like that at all. If you're going to say that to the media, have that conversation with him first. I agree with that. Like, let him know because it's not, I mean, and that guy, I don't know the player. So I don't know if he's going to be motivated by this,
but I mean, you're, you're running the risk of like, ruining that relationship. Like, that trust is completely out the window. And you know that media member couldn't have been more excited that he did. Oh, so happy that he didn't, he didn't have any idea that this, this had happened, right? So happy. He jumped right on that. I like Kyle Wittingham. I always always a fan of what I didn't watch like every Utah game, but I was always, I always thought is a really good. I agree. And I did not think he would ever leave Utah. You seem kind of like a lifeer. I get the money dictates and money eventually factors and all decisions, but this seems like the big 10 though. You're like, you're looking for, I mean, they have, you know, more accessibility to money and everything else. The initial returns on this are not good though. Just the whole way around. Well, is that fair though? Fair or not. I mean, if the quarterback stinks, but that was what you were given and you thought he'd be okay. I'm, I'm still a premature to say, the early returns are really bad. I think it depends though. I mean, if this is, if this is something that they allow him to visit, it doesn't work out. Thank you.
Then no, but if this is like, Hey, we just spent this much money in this quarterback, figure it out. Yeah, maybe you missed out the way you were doing. I think that's a little unfair. I mean, if you're a quarterback away and then you remedied that in the off season, Michigan will be missing again quickly, I would think. They have the resources to do it. Well, that's for sure. Stomping the field was pathetic by the way. They were vertiguck. I mean, that's what they're wanted to do. I mean, they're kids. Yeah. So I wasn't like 50 year old men that decided to do it. I'm sure there was some men in there. He was all children. It was all like the A E 5 for turning sororities. No, I'm sure there was some men in there. There's metropolitan. Yeah, going streaking. So you're welcome. Devil's sweet. You hear his back and forth. He's not happy. So his team just got just smashed. They want him out. Well, it's not going well. So Devil's sweet. It was asked by a reporter. Well, do you regret anything about your off season roster?
Chapel, you come with all these questions. I'll tell you that you're the gotcha guy. No, I don't, I don't man. I regret being over one right now. I regret that. But can you ask me at the end of the season? The season in over. I mean, we got one game. Got 11 more. Well, if we go 11, that's the one. You promised me you asked me that then. Okay, good. I'll answer. All right. But I'm not answering questions like that. You know, Chapel, I know that's your role. And that's in this environment, you know, to be the guy that wants to create all the controversy and ask the controversial questions. If that's who you are, it's fine. I get it. But I'll answer that and say, we played one game. One game. All right. Did you play football? Okay. Well, they give you 12 games. And at the end of the year, you count them up. That's when that's when those type of questions are fair to me, you know, not after one game to maybe the best team in the country. Maybe the best team in the country. Now, other people have good teams and coaches and things like that too. So I give them credit. We got 11 more names to go battle. And we'll count them up. Then you can ask me whatever question you want. He sounds like such a jerk. Things are going well.
There's nothing wrong with that question. Okay. Now, this is where me and you get into disagreement sometimes. Okay. Is if that was the first time or the only question, you're probably not wrong. That wasn't because of just that question. It was because of a relationship. You already have a lot more time. Reporter. All right. Yeah. He doesn't like you got to be the gotcha guy. Okay. But we have to start with the, I mean, did you play football? We play. See, that's the, yeah, I don't like that. I mean, it's completely. Of course, you know, we didn't play football. That's why he's doing what he's doing. And you're doing what you're doing. Exactly. And you didn't just kind of lose to me. You got smashed you got you got humiliated. You look like you shouldn't be on the field. The same. You should have been on the same field with them. But, by the way, I would have been funny. I was like, yeah, I was a, I was all statement. That's right. I was a high school all American. Yeah, you're up to my name. And I'm doing this. Yeah. Look me up. I was a four star. I was fully committed to USC. I played for you. Don't remember me. Yeah. And one more
before we get to DF, uh, Dan Campbell, interesting story. He went on, uh, I'm on Ross St. Brown's podcast. It's called the same brown podcast. He has a brother. And Dan Campbell, they're equanimous. Yeah. Good job. So Dan Campbell, and this, I don't think this will shock anyone. Uh, tells a story about he ran into 20 Roma one time. He's sitting there and he's randomly smoking a sig one night. And he's like, I'll tell you one thing, rumble, commitment. And he goes straight on my hand. And I was like, Oh, what are you doing? He's like, isn't that funny? So I had to ask you. Did that really happen? This is true story. I got there in 2003. He was a, he was a rookie free agent. And everybody liked Roma. I liked Roma. And so Roma, hey, man, where you guys going tonight? What are you doing? And then we go out one night. And he's over there talking to somebody. I don't know what. So I got some for you. And, um, I put it out. I didn't put it out. I put it on him. Just, you know, put it out. Yeah, you don't ask me why. So I got him a little cinch. But just to make him feel better, he didn't mention this part. I put it out in the palm of my hand after I did that. So, okay. You know, so it's not like,
he's paying. I'm paying to all right. Now he didn't want to pay. He shouldn't have to pay. But and that probably wasn't the first time you put a cigarette out of someone's hand, right? No, I've done that a couple times. But I always had to put him out on myself too. Wow, as savage. That's, that's an animal. He reminds me so much of, uh, when I first, when I first turned pro, I played with Glenn Featherstone. And the feather was this like, he just first day I met him just at 30 pack of beard his golf cart and a ribbon, ribbon cigarettes. Dan Campbell does strike me as a kind of guy. I mean, because doesn't he, what's his caffeine intake now? Oh, he's a legend. There he is. It's ridiculous. I mean, just, just crushing heaters outside of our, all the guys in the NFL, one of the last ones he would ever want to fight was Dan Campbell. Yeah. Because you have to kill him, I think. Right. I think he's one of those. Yep. Yeah. Alrighty, uh, observations is brought to you by Dagestanolah. 35 years of getting accident victims and social security disability clients every dollar they deserve offices in New York, they have offices in New Jersey, they're everywhere. They're on the phone, 1-800-by-back, 1-800-248-32-22.
Oh, law, fight back. You got to pass on. No, sir. It happened. So you were doing all kinds of drugs and ran through a gate? What's my car doing? What? Okay, did I get a truck? Florida. And asked how the substances got there. Quote, I don't know anything about any cocaine. It's a windy day. It must have flown through the window and into my pocket. I had to get excused. It's an amazing though before we do the story. How far we've come. Like that story is about how long ago was that with with Campbell and Roma? Oh, what do you say? Four? Five? It's a rookie year. Twenty-five years ago. Like how many guys back then were smoke and cigarettes where you'd go like the veterans would take the young guys out for a lunch and you'd drink beer until like like 11 o'clock at night. Like for the second practices over you'd go have lunch and then you'd be like you'd leave it like 10 hammered because you're just smashing beers the whole time. To where we're like a half-dial now, huh? Treat themselves. Well, I tell you one thing that athletes today would not be consuming.
And that would be Baja Blast. Are you familiar with it? Taco Bell special. Taco Bell Bell Ball. Oh yes, yes. So that brings us to where it didn't happen in Florida. So you're familiar with the phrase being reborn. Yes, people that are, you know, just looking for a brush start for one reason or another. Well, a person or place decided that that's like when Dave broke up with a stripper who's reborn. Yes, that's right. Essentially, yes. Yeah. So a person or place decided that that's what needs to happen. And the time and place of this are interesting. So I take you to a Taco Bell in a place, a little after midnight. Is this person going to baptize themselves with Baja fresh? They might. What? Oh my god. Have you seen this? No. So a little after midnight orders a large Baja Blast. That announces to customers that because of a very specific sign from above, and also because water was too mainstream and the true enlightenment could only be achieved through electrolytes and artificial lime flavoring. Employees became concerned when she removed the lid from the Baja Blast, like the reservoir, like the actual where you go to the drink fountain.
To the tap? Yeah. And that was time to quote, gather around for ceremony. So was there some clergy there? I don't think so. So this person then climbed onto the counter and attempted to lower themselves headfirst into the machine. While reciting what can only be described as those in attendance as a highly customized version of their own Bible verses. And finally, once you don't need me to tell you they were or was either 312 says. You don't need me to tell you they are arrested. And the final statement said, I've made mistakes and Baja Blast understands that. I want this to be Florida so bad. You want to send the kid from my job fresh. I'm going to say Florida. Yeah, I say Florida. I'm going to say Florida. I'm going to say Florida just because I want it to be Florida so bad. Harvey? I'll say no Florida. I think it's too wacky out there. Too wacky?
Too wacky. You look with 5 cats. Let me know what you're talking about. Well, it is wacky, but it's not too wacky for Tampa Florida. Yes, Tampa. We love Tampa. Cassie's negative ones. Yeah. Yeah. What a surprise. Hey, don't want some Baja. Wow. What a shot that way. Maybe I get her a bra hot fresh bath tonight. Hey, whatever you're into. Put a little football on some candles. How about that? There you go. And that's a thing that happened Florida. That's nice. Well done by you, RJ. You're a craftsman of this whole segment. You know that? I just like hanging out with you guys. I feel like it's a necessary evil. I'm getting numerous reports from listeners and viewers from all over the place. Apparently that story completely untrue. It's a satirical piece. It was done. Oh, really? Yeah. Oh, no. Yeah. Well, I guess I take ownership. I don't feel bad about doing it because the story's too. You want me to, you want me to send the kid for my job fresh? Here's where I guess I can believe that. Because a lot of my stories, I do kind of like double back to go find like a New York Post. They redo a lot of this and you'll see the actual article. So it looks like I'll let you finish in a second. It's a viral internet meme and it's a joke trend treating Mountain Dew Baha Blast like a sacred holy elixir. So I haven't had it in a long time. I love Baha Blast. And you know what? I didn't fact check it. And I think I think my rationale is this. So did you hear that? Like Michael Kay said that Aaron Judge was now re-imited again. If he was, it wasn't made public. Like he just said,
I'm good to come back. I feel good. That was kind of me with that story because you almost don't want to find something. I said, I came across the story. I said, great. So you just wanted to go with it because it's such a great story. I was afraid of what I would find if I if I started fact checking and digging deep. So apparently the joke gained mainstream traction through viral post, including a satirical news report about a Florida woman trying to baptize herself in a Taco Bell drink dispenser. It's a TikTok trend pairing to drink with playful rituals. RJ, it's not true. I'm sorry. Should I not have brought that to your attention? What was the right move from? No, because if you got overwhelmed by, if you were in and dated with people saying it's not true, then I think you had to unfortunately. So I'd listen, we take pride in our dear reporting here. Yeah. And as difficult as it is to admit, that was I was wrong. We were wrong. Now will you handle things differently moving forward? Like moving forward, will you make sure to do a little fact checking? So nine times
out of it reconnaissance work nine times out of 10. I do. But everyone's a while story comes along. Right. I just I don't want to know the actual. I don't know if it really happened or not. Because it's just too good. If you can't put your head in the sand, RJ, sometimes you have to. Look what the Yankees are doing. Judges out there. Is he fully healed? We don't know, but that that Bob blast story was Aaron judge. They need Aaron judge. I needed the Bob last one. We needed it, huh? Listen, it's like it's like a midget. It's not a good omen for what you have coming tonight. Oh, no, there's there's no direct. I think there could be. You think that is your going to win? No, don't do you? You have no faith. No, no, no. Do I think the Niners win? No. Do I think that like I think it's a highlight competitive game in the Niners certainly have a chance to win this game? I'm not one of these. I'm not you where I don't think the Rams won the division, but I'm not one of these. Like they could go undefeated. They're going to be so incredible. I mean, they're the same as
everyone else. They're one hit away from an aging quarterback from just being a team. Right. They may not be some special unbelievable team. They could, but I wouldn't be surprised at all of the if the Rams were a 12 win team and they're very good and they didn't go to the Super Bowl. This idea that were annoying because people get so swayed, right? They brought in miles, Garrett and they added to the secondary and their offense was so good. Yeah, they're a very good football team. Are they heading shoulders better than Seattle and I don't know. Chicago and Detroit and Philadelphia. I don't know that they are Buffalo. I think they're good. Should they be two to one favorites to win the whole thing? No, I think that's I think that's a little bit much. By the way, are you can I ask you a question as well? And this may be yeah. I'm doing territory that may not be appropriate. I have to where is Rick? I don't I I actually I'm actually mildly concerned. I'm not even going to lie to you because John just walked in that same
thing and I said can you do me a favor because I texted him a couple minutes ago. Can you call him? So we're missing Rick right now. He is totally at my A. So there's a chance a chance that the rest of the show is me and me alone. So he's so here's the thing though. Yeah, because I know what you're thinking. His feed did not go down. I don't physically know where Rick is. The actual living the actual human being breathing right now. Here's my concern. I have a lot of concerns. I saw you have you seen him walk in the last few days. Can't walk. The backs of problem. He could be crumbled over into a corner somewhere. There's a chance that Rick has gone. You think there's a chance that he's was taken? I don't not. I don't not too. But is he ever just like break this? Where have you been? Big news jazz hands. Where they get big injury.
Find out if you've been. I took a bad step back though. Back. I know you're back. You're just like 10 minutes. Dude, those bad news. What just happened? Real bad news. But don't get your back checked out. Well, no, I'm going to tell you today. I have to tell you. Okay. I stepped off the I slipped off the bottom stair and went down in a heap and then just try to regroup to get you along on the floor helpless for a few minutes. Yeah. So I don't know if you don't we have to get this guy a life alert. Oh, it makes a worse. There's no one. They're all gone. They take the kids to school. So it's me by myself. I did. You actually need a life. You legitimately need a life alert. You pressed a button. I fall in and I cannot get up right now and I have to get back on the radio. Just dragging myself across the kitchen. So to start this, I'm fine. Usually 15, 20, 30, 30, a minute fine. Five minutes in. I said, it's hard to go. Where is he? I'm not great. We're actually legitimately concerned. I'm fully sweating. He texted. I got his
text messages. I was laying on the fully I'm fully sweating right now. Are you okay? I'm okay. It's not. I mean, I'm here. Right. If I use okay is the best way to describe what's going on right now. I'm not exaggerating. If you don't get an MRI by the end of this week, I'm going to be literally furious with you. Do we get today? I don't care what I have. I'm scheduling an MRI today. It has to happen. Good. Um, you're. Yes. Yeah. I'm furious. Don't change the narrative. It's does not on me. It's on him. Um, what's your, what's your, what's your, what do you think about judge? Based it last night. He doesn't. He had a couple of, he had a couple of its last night. Yeah. Uh, uh, like we've said, whether Aaron judge is great or not, it just changes the dynamic of the Yankees, doesn't it? Where the threat of Aaron judges there and that makes everyone else a better version of who they are. Yeah. I couldn't agree with you more. I mean, it's just, I think we've, we've seen what this team is without him. And I gave you some of those stats to start the week. And then you see what they are with him. And the production is going to come. Right. He's just, he's too good. But he missed three months. I just think when you bring back someone
like Aaron judge to your team, the whole mentality changes, the confidence changes, you've just naturally put less pressure on yourself because it's like you have, he's like, he may be one of the greatest right hand hitters we've ever seen ever. He's a great player. Right. So I mean, and you see how the pictures are still afraid of him. So he's going to get pitched a certain way. And is 19 games enough to get the best version of Aaron judge in the postseason? We don't know. I don't know yet. All I know is, is that time's running out and Tampa keeps winning. I think you thought, hey, we got a lot of like, this is a good opportunity for us. And Tampa just is not losing. They, they really are amazing. Because I mean, as Metz fans, like, there's no more house of hearts in Atlanta. See figure. Okay. At, at best case scenario, Tampa is going to win two of three. And that may still be what happens, but I don't even think that they were going for the sweep today against the, the braves. You know what's amazing about Tampa. And I said this is my father on the other day, because he is like, he's all in. He loves them. He's just been in Tampa long enough. Watch
his every game pays attention every game. He's a die hard Tampa Bay fan. And he gets frustrated with the amount of money that they spend and everything else. But it's like, you're still always good. I said to me the other day, because we're going back and forth in the last Camino. I know this guy's as a, could you imagine if you had wondered that the one guy that you actually paid, right? And he, and he gets himself in trouble. It's not even on your team. And yet they still find a way to get through that and put together this team that looks like they're going to win the division. It's incredible. Yeah. I, I guess they probably will. I'm still not there yet. I still think that schedule down the stretch for Tampa is really rough. And if the Yankees can win three out of those four, I still give the, because of decent chance. But yeah, obviously, I mean, every day that goes by, they don't pick up a game is, is another day lost. I think I, I don't know exactly what it was. I was listening to K and K had some stats regarding, you know, when a team trailed by so many games at this point of the season, what the, what's the likelihood? And I don't think it was, it was great odds. Like it wasn't, of course, it's not great. I'm going to make you confident. But you're right. I mean,
they're schedule wise. And then the opportunity with those four games. Just put yourself in a spot where those are meaningful and could get you back. That's right. I'll talk about that. Have some juice. They have some excitement there. But by the way, watching the Yankees and the Angels are like, boy, this, this angel's team is not good. This Rocky's team stings. They, they are, that is clearly the worst team of it. They are terrible. And like, just the decisions they make, they're first, and I forget what early on a game is. I wanted with two strikes. That's why that's why I was going to go, what are you doing? What are you doing? My son, even Milo was like, what's he doing, Dad? He just tried to put with two strikes. I was like, wait, I don't know, buddy. How many times over the two games the Yankees have played the, the Rockies have you had the thought of like, what, what is happening? It's not even multiple times. This is so stupid. You throw in the ball. The catcher's not watching. You're bumping. I think it was a lead-off batter too, with two strikes. I was McCarthy. I think it was the same guy that threw the ball to the catcher. He's a disaster.
Thanks for listening to the D.P. H. Rowan, Rothen Brood Podcast. Bring it. Looking for more access to the show. Why? Because you know why. Follow us at ER on ESPN. All right, let's go a little rapid-fire through the phone until we get back to the NFL, start at the 9 o'clock hour. Let's go to Edgar in Bloomingdale. Edgar, good morning, your on ESPN New York. Good morning, boys. You guys know that Tampa Bay don't lose. I don't know. I think if they don't, if they sweep today, I think you just got to punt now. You got to punt and just settle down. You have the number one, your host in the rock heart. And I think that's enough to get us in to get us in. What are you in theory? What are you putting for? What do you mean, punt? You're not putting on anything. You still got to play for it. You're not going to change it. You're not going to shut down anybody. No, you're not going to shut down anyone, but as a fan, you got to not realistically because it could have been saying that you're not going to win the division. But if you look at what they have, they have three with Houston over the weekend, which is hardly easy, then they have the A's easy, right? Then they have the red socks is not easy.
Then they forward the Yankees and then they have three with the Phillies. They don't have an easy, easy schedule. It's doable, but the way they play that they've good, you know, Atlanta can't I can't judge it off the Atlanta, but they're a good team. They don't lose any likes to two in a row. They really lose like that. It's going to be hard to know. That's not true. They've had spurts where they haven't been good. But I mean, this right now, they're back to playing good baseball. And as much as you want to point to the schedule and say, well, this team is good. This tap is good. Very good. Right. So those teams are also going, hey, we're playing a good Tampa team. Yeah, but it's just like you wouldn't think they'd go in and just beat up on the braves. No, you wouldn't. Yeah, you wouldn't. And the Yankees are taking care of their business, which is that's all you can do at this point. Right. I mean, unfortunately, if you've dug yourself this hole and Tampa controls their own destiny, right? So they're four plus games ahead of you right now, right? Four plus the tiebreaker, which is a real problem. I mean, you might go into that final four game set with them and have to win. Oh, four, which will be very unlikely. Of course, but again, I mean, I think the Yankees, the Yankees feel like
yes, we'd love that. Of course, I mean, you set your preseason goals. That's the easiest way to not easy, but the best way to get to a championship is to have that first round by set up your pitching and everything else, but that hasn't been the reality of the situation right now. Right. I mean, they they I think they probably feel like if if we're healthy, yes, we'd like to buy, but we don't necessarily need the buy to get to the World Series. So so right now, if I said to you, you have to pick a team to come out of the American League. Who would you pick? Yankees. And I feel the same way. Yeah, I would pick the Yankees. I told you I said, I won't believe the Yankees didn't make it to the World Series till they they're like, I couldn't I couldn't agree with you more. By the Dodgers are getting going again. Also, I know they're not playing the best teams in baseball, but the Dodgers, the Dodgers become bored. How could you not? They become bored. They're still going to wind up with the one seed in the national league. I know, which is the testament how good they are. But I mean, I would imagine that you go back to back the way they've gone back to back. And now it's like, we got to go another hundred and sixty two before it's great. You're like, they're bored. They go through the motions. They've had injuries. They're still going to win
a hundred games. They're just that to that talented though. Yeah, it's insane. Dave and Florida, Dave, good morning. You're on ESPN, New York. How are you? Morning guys. How are you? Great. I've been better, but we're doing great. Good. Good. I had my son in the car. He's five years old. Just dropped them off at kindergarten. He goes, I want to, you know, call the guys. I want to call the boys in the morning. We listen every morning at United States. It bonds us. We listen to New York sports, watch New York sports, travel for games, big games all the time. Dix. Jess met whatever. So thank you guys for being a big part of my morning and getting us, you know, started and whatnot. And I wanted to talk a little bit about the Jets upcoming season. Is that okay? Sure. Absolutely. Sure. So I mean, I'm really conflicted like Rick. Honestly, I, you know, I know the best thing for them is to go winless because of the quarterback class coming up. And as a fan, that, that's things because, you know, down here, I get laughed at
every time I wear a Jets t-shirt or Jets hat. People laugh at me and they don't care about sports down here. And yeah, long story short, I don't want to see, you know, a four and 12 or four and 13 season or even a nine and eight season. And, you know, I feel like that makes me a bad fan, but I know it's in the best interest. And like you guys said earlier, you know, sacrificing one more year for the chance to get one of these top QBs is what I think is in our best interest. And I'll hang up and let you go. But I would like to call back at another time and be one of the regular callers and, you know, be like, you know, on the Mount Rushmore of callers of Robin and Dobbs Mary and Ira from Staten Island, the modest and get my son on the line because he wanted to tell you that he thinks the Jets stink. He's never seen a winning season. Not in close. He's five. That our England should be fired after a couple of weeks. Well, Dave, thanks for the kind words. Tell your son. We say hi. I look there. They're ruining five year olds, right? That's what happens.
What does he have? I mean, the last five years, how they been? Pretty good. But I, but no, terrible, but I love that he's like, he's never seen a winning season. He's five. He's five. Yeah, but I, I mean, he probably has some memories of like a year. I know. I mean, as we're talking about, it's been 15 years, but it's, I mean, it's normal for us just because I've been through it as long as we've been through it. But I mean, at some point, you would think over the course of five years, like you'd have some kind of winning sprinkled in. Uh, listen, the giants have stunk. And they've had winning sprinkled in over the last five years, right? Thanks for listening to the D.P. H. Rowan, Rothen Bird podcast. I'm just trying to have the best possible show. That's what I'm trying to do. What does that start? Catch us live weekday mornings from 6 to 10 a.m. on ESPN, New York, the MSG network and streaming live on YouTube.
