All right, well, Bri has already touched down in Rio de Janeiro, and regular producer Chris Bemeni will be following the team charter takes off at 8.30 tonight, so five and a half hours from now, we will be wheels up on the way, but there's so much to talk about between now and then. First of all, we want to thank Paul Batista for stepping in

2:02and helping us engineer and produce today. But join, of course, by Candace Lam and Ayesha Morrison, and we already have on this accelerated week, as we get ready to head to Rio, the practice report from today. So Ayesha, will you do the honors, please, man? Did you eat, mother-son? Yeah, here we go. Catch you guys. I think I just, I think it's not coming. The main thing for Baltimore, a couple of the guys, the key players that we've been talking about that have missed practice yesterday, missed again today. Okay, yeah, that's for us. Yeah, as you look at the practice report for Dallas, it's kind of nothing that is surprising to us. Kobe Durant, a game set, it's going to be out, Malie Cooker with the forum, out PJ Lock, with the Plantar Fesciata out, and then Demarion overshown did not practice. He has been listed as James Houston seems like, at this current juncture, might go. Baltimore Ravens, as you talk about theirs,

3:02the two main ones is going to be Zay Flowers, a Y receiver, he did not practice today, looking at some of the Ravens reporters and stuff. It does feel like they are leaning towards resting him for several reasons. Ronnie Staley, their tackle, as Christy mentioned, last week went out of the game with a toe. So that's important. The Ravens offensive line has struggled in past protection. So that is a big deal for this Dallas defense. Trey Hendrickson, their outside line breaker acquired from the Bengals. He was limited today with the finger. Chris Moore was limited today with, while receiver was limited with an ankle. Malik Estarks, safety type was limited with a hamstring. And most of the other gentlemen, Kalea's came, but Campbell was a fool. You know, he's going to be on that defensive line now. One gentleman that they are going to be getting back, I do not want to mispronounce his name, but it's NAMDI. NAMDI? NAMDI K. NAMDI K. Defense of tackle. He's somebody that's highly anticipated for this Ravens defense, their interior defense. Not sure if he's going to be in a ramp up period or not,

4:04but just be looking for him on Sunday if he is going to be out there. People are highly anticipated and his return back to the field on the Ravens side. So that's something to keep an eye out on. And yeah, before the most part, all their guys are good to go. I saw those top guys. I think the most interesting part of it is with the Cowboys. Because I usually mention that the four players that we knew or anticipated were not going to play have already officially been ruled out. Because when you have a Sunday game, you don't have to do any kind of designation as to whether or someone out there would have a ball ball ball. But yeah, because we're leaving tonight. So they went ahead and did that. The Ravens had not have not designated whether or someone out or probable or doubtful. So they'll probably, well, they'll have to do that by tomorrow, but not looking good for flowers and Stanley. So that helps the Cowboys. But it's been a busy day here. And Coach Shottenheimer did speak with the media and with the formal press conference for the last time of the week. He will have a short thing after practice

5:04in Rio at the soccer training facility tomorrow afternoon. But Candy, what were some of the main things that you took away from Shotty this morning? The biggest thing for me is that Dallas is still managing a pretty significant group of injuries on a defense. Like you all mentioned, hookers out, like, overshown, I know we are hopeful. We're hopeful about him, but he'll still be gone. But basically, him still talking about the stopping the ring game. Yeah. I'm always having to stop the ring game. And also, I know a little bit ahead, but Quinn and Williams, a little echo that in locker room. So that was the biggest thing that's it out to me, because that's a... Yeah, there were a few things specifically. Like you say, with the run game. And he said that the linebackers have been hesitant at times with the run fits. And so I assume that's because you have some inexperience there and some young players.

6:04So you circled back to what he said about that. And I said, is it because they're young and inexperienced? And he said, no, it really has to do more with what the offenses are doing with emotions and movements and that kind of thing. And so it's predicated on the offense trying to switch things up. But the other thing, and Ayesha, what he was talking about in terms of how you stop derrick Henry. I found that particularly interesting. It was talking, say, that you have to... The front has to knock back everybody. Knock them back and make Derrick Henry kind of sort of like chop his feet, not just plant and go forward. Yeah, he talked about... Go ahead, no. He talked about his lower body strength. And echoing what he said earlier this week that you can't let him keep going, you can't let him get. He said the front is going to have to do a really good job this week, point-blink period. He's very gently saying, don't get moved off the ball. Yeah. Effect, what's happening across the offensive line.

7:07He sees... I mean, if you look at Dallas' last couple games, the interior defensive line has not gotten enough push. And that's... He's very gently saying, like, this is something we have to do better this game in particular, because if you don't, this particular runner is a momentum runner. So we can't even allow him that space to have yardage where he's not touched five yards into a run. There needs to be some push from the defensive line. Against their offensive line, again, that has some weakness with some weaknesses on the interior to create some friction for him as he tries to, you know, to sift through trash and stuff. You've got to create trash for him, because at least we'll give you a little bit better of an opportunity to get a stop on him. But if he has five yards to, like, game momentum because of the lower body drive and strength, it is difficult to get him to the ground. And if he's going to stand a strategy,

8:07legitimately, he's telling this defensive line that they need to win off the ball more consistently in this game. The other thing Shady talked about today, he just went into greater detail in terms of once we get to Rio tomorrow morning and some of the logistics. And he alluded earlier in the week to some of the sports science and sleep studies and the like and why they're doing things the way they are. And by the way, Baltimore doing the same thing, overnight to night. But when we land tomorrow and it's a bit of a ride over an hour from the airport to get to the hotel, but it'll be late morning, basically lunchtime. And so instead of all of us getting off the bus and taking a little nap or something, no, presumably we've had a decent night sleep or at least some sleep on the overnight flight. And then basically we're going to, the players coaches, everybody we're going to eat lunch. They're going to have some meetings. They'll be going to the soccer complex and have the practice

9:11there. And then afterwards that's the media availability, including the international media that they'll have. And then the main thing he talked about was Friday and Saturday, just keeping the guys up to speed, reviewing all of the things that they were installing from earlier in the week and things. It's a situational in particular, third down in red zone and the like. And so just keep them focused on that. And we've already talked this week about how they're going to be and wearing compression, not just compression, it's socks, but compression pants, compression shirts, and all that kind of thing. And then talked about the footwear as well. Yeah. That most of the players will be in the seven stud cleats and everything. So the other thing that happened today is we had media access in the locker room. And we're not going to have that in Rio until post game. So have a chance to talk with some of the guys, Ayesha, who stood out for you and what nuggets did you pick up today? Yeah.

10:11Can we really put back to Shady's press or I want us to bring up what's going to happen with the safety position? Yes, please. Yeah. Savon Reveil. I don't want to say his name wrong, because sometimes it rolls off my tongue. Reveil. Savon Reveil. He sounds like he's going to get more opportunity. I got to speak to him briefly in the locker room the other day and what we were talking about is, again, just his length and his usage against tight ends. I think we might see him against a Mark Andrews this week. And just because from a physical standpoint, I think that Dallas recognizes that where he is right now in his zone understanding. He still has some growth there, but impressed man's situations. I expect to see him close to the line of scrimmage and trying to affect the tight end and some of those inside breaking routes that I think his length affects there. So that's something I think in Shady mentioning that will be different on the defense. But then Marquis Bell stepping in for PJ Locke, I think,

11:14matters. And I, from looking at the film last week, I thought that there were moments where there was some misunderstanding. There was some miscommunication from him. I know he's just getting inserted into the spot and being asked to do a lot. But I will be looking at that spot this week. And if the Ravens see any opportunity there, they're going to see the report. They're going to know that your safeties are down. They're going to know that this is not your first, this is not even your second safety, this is your third one. And that spot, attack for them. I expect for them to try to attack there, and especially based off of what they saw last week with Marquis Bell in zone at times. Again, he is getting another week now to kind of be implemented and go through practice and everything. But I'm looking for him to take a step up this game because I personally did not think that it was clean enough from him last week. Yeah. And Shady expressed that about both of them. They got that they got the experience last week. They won't play perfect. But he said they're both pros.

12:14He thinks they'll do really well. Then again, they have to experience last week. But to your point, you're going to have to step it up this week. Yeah. So about the gentleman we spoke to in the locker room, I had the opportunity to speak to Cooper Beebe. I wanted to touch base with him because I think that he kind of gets lost in the shuffle kind of like Malachai Lawrence with the way in the position in which he was drafted, the way the draft fell. I feel like people sometimes forget about him and his development. And I wanted to test base with him just how people are attacking them, which you're going to see this week as well. As teams are opting to do a lot of stunts and blitzes on the inside, but just the run blitzing with the corners. And the secondary players. As you look at the Ravens and you get into their defense, where they really try to attack you is adding an extra rusher with a secondary player. And so I wanted to talk to him just about how teams are attacking them and where they're struggling. And he explained to me that it's the passes. It's the passes where you're getting off a double team

13:15and you need to go to the next level, but those secondary guys are kind of slippery and they're bringing them on blitzes and stuff. I wanted to ask him how can you guys better improve on that? But he pointed out to me that they've played two teams that do that more than normal. And so while this offensive line is trying to kind of jail and get things together, unfortunately, they are seeing teams that are very complex and how they navigate their fronts and stuff. But I thought that was awesome. Also, I thought it was cool talking to him about Dak Prescott and how Dak Prescott does so much maneuvering at the line of scrimmage. He said that Dak is one of the only true, like diagnosing quarterbacks in the league. And we know that with how much responsibility does that put you on you as a young center. So I want to acknowledge him in his development and how much it takes to be the center for this quarterback. As they look at the Ravens defense, there's a lot of stuff that they do last minute, the end of the snap, a rumblet scene,

14:17trying to make you feel like you have something on the front that you don't have. This line is loaded. And so I wanted to get his mindset kind of where they feel like they need to improve and what he told me is the passes and the exchanges is where they're really not, they're not, it's he said it's timing. And then it also is rhythm, which again, we know they have not been able to get in a rhythm. But I thought, respectively, it was good to hear from the center of the team that does a lot of the quarterbacking Loki on going up against a Ravens defense that at the front is very complex. Yeah, and I don't want to mispronounce his name either, but the DT. Not a booking. Yeah, no. Is that it? DT? No, no, no, no, no. Yeah, it's not a big deal. With him coming back, if he's back, that'll be a threat to Cooper. So that is important for you to get that perspective. And I used to, when you were saying Cooper about the passing and the exchanges, I just want to clarify,

15:17we're not talking about passing the call. Oh, I'm all about talking about with alignment, working together and passing, especially when they're trying to do so many different things with that front seven or even bringing some of the corners and the like. So passing off the lineman one to another, the defenders and stuff. Yes. There's a lot of communication, and that's a lot of work together. It is. It's a lot of work together. You obviously have, these guys first time playing together all together. But going up against this game, I'm looking for this run game to get going. Because the thing about the Ravens is, yes, that front is stout, but they do a lot on the back end with their, they go small a lot. So if you can, if you can get to that level, if you can get there, there's a lot of opportunity there, because they do go with a lot of smaller packages. But that was one of the conversations I had. Did you ladies have anything that? Yeah. And we'll build on that and talk more about some of the matchups and where the Cowboys may have the best opportunities on Sunday.

Cowboys offense going against the Ravens defense and talked about, obviously, every week, but particularly this one, the importance of the run game. Can you let's start with you. How will you define success in the run game against a really stout Ravens defense? I don't think they have to put up huge rushing numbers, but I would like to see a lot more consistency. Four or five yards early on down, staying out of third and long, but mainly consistency.

21:36And those at least four or five yards, I like that. I like that. Stay ahead of the chains. Stay ahead of the chains. Yeah. Love that. You got to talk, IE Show, which of my table, Williams today. Is that right? Yeah. I touch base with him just again, as we look into Baltimore's defense and some of the things that they like to do, they're a little crazy. But their usage, again, of their DB to try to create five man pressures and to create confusion for your running back or anybody else that's having to step up and secure for the quarterback. I wanted to touch base with Javante Williams just because I think he's going to be key in his past protection in this game. Obviously, the highest graded at it. Highest graded, a past protecting running back in NFL right now. There's a way in which that Kyle Hamilton is being used in coverage where he's going to line up on the line of scrimmage like he is going to play the receiver. And at the last minute, he slips into the C gap and he's after the quarterback.

22:37So he literally is here lined up and he just slips down while that receiver gets a free release. It's up to that corner to pick that up. And he is going after the quarterback. And if you do not have a running back, that's aware. He doesn't know what's going on. Then that is a free release to your quarterback. And they have been lighting people up with Kyle Hamilton's usage. He already has 16 patchwork snaps this season. That's a lot for a safety. And again, for safety, that is a lot. And so they're trying to figure out ways. It's not that they can't get pressure on their own, but they're trying to find their ways to manufacture pressure in a way that's a little unorthodox. It's all going to say Williams, he was just telling me that being connected with DAC is huge. He and DAC have built a rapport to where they can kind of read each other's eyes. And there's a nonverbal communication between those two, but he was just telling me even so that in the usage of Kyle Hamilton and how they use him and they're kind of slipping him, I think they have some things planned for. Yeah. And just creative.

23:38That's something that Shoddy referenced. Jesse Mentor, who's the new head coach of the Ravens, he's a fantastic. He was fantastic. He has coordinated. Yeah, he was with the chargers the previous two years before taking over in Baltimore for John Harball. But of course, we faced the chargers and Shoddy was talking about the adjustments that he made. Yeah, he said I really, really, two things up in the second half. So we was referring to that game against the chargers when Jesse Mentor was in charge. And then the other thing, the guy who meant her hired to be as defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, who had a long career as a defensive end in the league. He most recently, even though this is his first year in Baltimore, as a defensive coordinator, he had been in Miami as their coordinator the past couple of years. And then he cut his teeth as a coach mainly with the Texans. So a lot of experience. And I know that he's young as a coach, but throughout his entire career, including as a player, very well respected.

24:39I will say there's one thing that kind of caught me by surprise in looking at some of the statistics and just reviewing some of the things with the Ravens because they are known for their defense. And I know that two games is not a full sample size, but they have struggled in the red zone defensively. And in fact, they're near the bottom of the league. They've allowed touchdowns on 80% of visits. And the Cowboys have done offensively. They struggled in the red zone last year, not through the first two games this year. Their second in the league and touchdown percentage over 85%. So that's been a Cowboys strength offensively in the red zone through the first two weeks. It's been a weakness, a big weakness by Baltimore standards there. So just... Talk about a great thing. Well, and that's the thing, you know. And I know that I'm the one who always goes back to special teams and things like that, but feel positioned and just getting that much closer to red zone and be able to do something

25:39with it. I think it's good that you mentioned. They're kind of a weird group right now. Like it's too early. It's too early. It is early to be able to tell. I think a lot of people, if you look at this defense as a whole, you're like, oh, this should be a very stout defense. Yeah, but far too doing the... Yeah, go ahead. They haven't been perfect. Yeah. There's historically, the Ravens have a great defense, but the last two weeks, the fact of the matter is they're not invincible. I mean, they gave up the fourth quarter. I mean, the offense gave up the fourth quarter. They're deepened to the level. It's a part of that as well. Yeah. And they just have these moments. There's no other way for me to describe it. I don't know if it's because they're still kind of a young team in certain places, but they just have brain parts. Mm-hmm. Like I don't know. It's just sometimes they look like a fantastically... I think the Ravens should be, you know, one of the... They turn out to be one of the best teams in NFL this year. But like when I was watching film on them, especially defensively, there is... There is. What they're doing now defensively, similar to Dallas is a little bit more complex.

26:41So there is miscommunication. Oh, wait, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Miscommunication can happen to other teams in NFL. No, alert. No, alert. Only the... Yeah, we thought it was only that. There are miscommunications, and that's... Again, they do so much on the back end with their DBs to come help in the running stuff. There... If Dallas can block it up, there should be opportunity there for seeding lamb and pickings in those guys to operate in the passing game. So yeah, now their linebackers are a little snake-dee though. Ladies. Obviously you know about Rokwan Smith and what he can do. Can you... Did you look up anything about Rokwan? You know anything about, kind of, what he brings it to you? Yeah, for sure. Just looking at dictionary under friggin' B. Oh, I'm going to see this picture. That's what you need to know about Rokwan. Yeah. Yeah, he's... Wow. Physical, physical, physical. Yeah, but they added him... He's just a phenomenal athlete in how he plays the run, but really what's made him unique is Trenton Simpson. Yeah. Yeah. Their young linebacker, that's come along and he's kind of a tone setter.

27:44What you got? Well, yeah, and then Robinson is actually leading their team in Sacks and Hendrickson. You mentioned early in the report, you know, he's a guy who's had 14 Sacks. How many years in a row? Like four years in a row and that was a big move when they were able to get him from Cincinnati. Yeah, this is... And on the back end, you're talking about some of the creative things. They do. It was interesting because against the Saints, once the Saints got rolling, Alave, Chris Alave, they're really fine-wired receiver, was eating him up. I think he finished with like eight catches or something like that. And towards the end of the game, it looked like the Ravens took Nate Wiggins, who starts along with Marlon Humphreys at Cornerback for Baltimore and that they had him kind of trailing, you know, following Alave. So it's going to be interesting. Well, you know, and I think Wiggins, I think Nate is a fine player. Even if you do that, are you going to choose CD or George? I don't know. If you do that. Marlon Humphreys, he kind of reminds me.

28:47He was somebody that I had as a bit of a troublemaker. He reminds me of... In a good way, in a good football way? Bad for Cowboys. He is. That's such a good way to look at him. He's the player that he reminds me of Marlon Lattermore in his play style. He's going to get in your face. He's going to get on your back. He's very handsy. And I think for... CD can handle him, but as far as a matchup, I kind of would like to see him in George Pickens. Because George Pickens is your off of the playbook type of script. Off script. There we go. Off script. And CD and Pickens are both capable. But Pickens is a little extra feisty. And I feel like Marlon Humphreys... Marlon Humphreys plays with a lot of feisty. Marlon is a bit like CD. Oh, that'll be perfect for Brazil. I mean, a little. I love that. It's going to be a lot of this going on. I can't say that. But see, you're making a really good point, Candy, again, with the usage of...

29:50I mean, obviously Marlon Humphreys is a corner. But in the way that they use their scheme, I'm not going to say that they're safe, these in corners are interchangeable. But the way that the rotations work, it kind of looks like that. I do think he's... Marlon is sneaky. I think that you look at it the way that you describe it is right because he will... And just in the scheme in general. Yeah. They play a lot of zone. Oh, yeah. They're heavy zone team. We're seeing that in NFL now right now. But that could be to it at the end of the game, because last week they didn't know which way CD was coming or going. You can hit them up the middle, the sideline, the top of the in zone, and with them playing zone as much as they do. I can just see them, again, the cowboys, moving them all around a lot on the field, whether that's pickings, Ferguson. I want to see Ferguson get more action. But yeah. Yeah, no, I agree. I think as you look at their scheme again and what they do, it is changing the picture very last minute, making you think that you have space in it, you don't.

30:51You're kind of what everybody is doing right now. But Dallas did a really good job last week of finding soft spots in zones and finding windows. This is again, this defense for the Ravens. It's fast on the bake. It's fast because so many other guys are small back there. But if Dallas can break some tackles, I'm looking for some yak opportunities with the way that they're so spread out. Their defense is very spread out. So in the blitzing, and in the blitzing again, Mentors, he blitzes DBs 26.8% of the time, first week, and then the second week 38.5% of the time. And they'd know different than what you know in basketball. Somebody's getting double-seeing with that me. Somebody else's open. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. I'm looking for the quarterback, Dallas and Dallas and DacRusco. I know those guys to be able to take advantage of some of these soft spots in these zones. So that, the me, if I think it's for me if Dallas can run the ball effectively, that's the only way you're going to be able to counter the time of possession that Christie is that is concerned about and to give your defense an opportunity to catch a breather and to keep them again, keep them fresh. I think Dallas has to figure out a way to at least keep time of possession close. So that's, that's going to be it for me.
